Naturally Stunning Moore Cove Falls Wedding

David and Caitlin Moore cove falls wedding

Weddings are all about celebrating love for one another in a place that is meaningful to you as a couple. That’s why Caitlin and David settled on a Moore Cove Falls wedding to celebrate their love. The two always loved the mountains, so they figured why not tie the knot in the middle of a national forest with nature as their incredible backdrop? With the help of planner Elope Asheville, they said “I do” surrounded by their loved ones, their furry friend Phenix, and the gentle sounds of the waterfall.

While we could talk about how special the intimate celebration was, we love what photographers—and Junebug members–The Stewarts Roam had to say about the couple and the love-filled day.

The Stewarts Roam’s Take On The Day

These two chose Moore Cove Falls for their special day and exchanged their vows on the rocks, right beneath the breathtaking falls. It was a killer spot, and we couldn’t have pictured a more beautiful scene for this special couple.

We fell in love with David and Caitlin’s generous spirits and knew our personalities would suit their day well. We were completely honored by the number of times David and Caitlin told us that they trusted us and wanted our vision and artistic styles to guide their day. And we were beyond happy to oblige! When a couple gives us that much creative freedom to truly document their day to the best of our ability, we know that we’re working with the right people. David and Caitlin are two absolutely wonderful people.

We loved getting to know these two and getting to witness their love for one another. Another very special addition to this awesome day was their gorgeous dog, Phenix. He kept a close watch over his humans and added a gentle, calming presence.

Incorporating Nature At A Moore Cove Falls Wedding

We wanted something small, intimate, and in the mountains—we love the mountains. Moore Cove Falls was the perfect place–a quiet waterfall within the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. The rest fell into place. Nature doesn’t need many decorations. It does all the work for you with its beauty. With the sun shining on a warm autumn day, our vibe was set. Our closest family wore deep reds and navy to match the groom–including our husky, Phenix, who sported a rose-covered leash and formal bandana–and I carried matching flowers. The waterfall served as our music.

Personalizing The Day With A Pet

We had our dog Phenix join our special day. You could say he was one of the best men! We think he knew his mom and dad were getting married because he was just such a good and happy boy all day.

What It’s Like Working With A Junebug Member

Our photographers–The Stewarts Roam–were the best! They are such a fun couple who create magical photos of natural moments. They captured who we are as a couple within every shot throughout the day. Our whole essence is in these photos. We had such a fun time, too, talking and laughing and getting to become friends throughout the day.

45 Beautiful Wedding Aisle Markers for Your Ceremony

June 5, 2018 | juliette

If you want to go the extra mile with your ceremony decor, wedding aisle markers are a must! While the ceremony backdrop might be the ultimate star of your ceremony decor, wedding aisle decor adds so much visual interest to your ceremony space that we think every couple should add it to their list of decor must-haves! Even though most couples gravitate toward florals (which we love), we also can’t get enough of creative signs, garlands, candles, lanterns, and items that fit seamlessly with a couple’s theme. The best part is that you can go as elaborate or keep it as simple as you wish because even just a little aisle decor can go a long way! We’ve rounded up our favorite beautiful wedding aisle markers to inspire you to get creative and add some “wow” to your ceremony decor.

Heartfelt Oregon Wedding at Wallowa Lake

February 7, 2017 | gabby

heartfelt-oregon-wedding-at-wallowa-lake-18

Maria and Tanner craved an intimate Oregon elopement but also wanted their family and friends in attendance, so their adventurous elopement-style wedding combined the best of both worlds. Every detail of the couple’s Wallowa Lake wedding was intentional, DIY, and heartfelt, including the fact that the wedding occurred on a Tuesday – the same day of the week that they first met each other! Maria and Tanner’s day included a totally epic sunrise first look, breakfast for two in a barn, and a mountainous ceremony location that guests hiked 20 minutes to. From the couple’s breakfast crêpe escape to their horseback grand exit, Jordan Voth Photography captured every breathtaking moment.

The Couple:

Maria and Tanner

The Wedding:

Wallowa Lake Moraine & Private Residence, Joseph, Oregon

heartfelt-oregon-wedding-at-wallowa-lake-37

The most important part of planning was that the day was about us, and the love we have for each other. Any of the planning details became just a plus and we made an effort to minimize stress and focus on making it fun. We wanted to have an elopement, but family and friends are so important to both of us so we wanted them to be included in our elopement style wedding. So we did the best of both worlds.

heartfelt-oregon-wedding-at-wallowa-lake-1

We got married on a Tuesday because this was our “date day” for a year and the day we met. The wedding was 6-10 hours away from where most of the guests live, with a 20 minute hike to the ceremony. Anyone who made it, made a huge adventurous effort in just attending.

heartfelt-oregon-wedding-at-wallowa-lake-4

We got engaged 6 weeks earlier at the exact spot we got married. We also photographed our first look at sunrise in the same spot on the wedding day. The spot is on a mountain, overlooking a lake where we met for the first time and had our first date at. Being in the same location for all of these amazing moments is unforgettable.

I pulled different parts from multiple wedding dresses I loved, and combined them into one. It was important to me to have a well designed back, and a dress that would flow in the wind being up on the mountain. I made in all of 6 weeks, but I knew I wanted lace, and chiffon. While designing, it formed into the dress I knew I wanted to walk down the aisle to. I wanted to have the vibe of Bohemian & Modern yet timeless. I wore an ivory shawl when riding away on the horse, and Frye booties with small heel to be able to hike up to the location. The main piece of jewelry I wore was a vintage diamond necklace my mother gave me, and my veil was handmade by her as well.

heartfelt-oregon-wedding-at-wallowa-lake-14

Tanner proposed with a 1920s ring 6 weeks before the wedding. The secret was a custom designed vintage ring that Tanner gave to Maria at first look at sunrise in the same exact spot he proposed 6 weeks earlier. Tanner re-proposed with the real ring, the 1920s ring Maria wears on her right hand.

From Tanner: For the groomswear, I wanted to have a timeless look, a bit of Johnny Cash, Wyatt Earp, and me.

We got married on the mountain where we were engaged, and did the reception at Tanner‘s parents house on their 5 acre property. It’s beautiful, Tanner‘s mom has an antique store we pulled decorations from and the property has old barns and plenty of space for everyone.

We chose not to have a wedding party, but instead gave our family a a dress code of black, neutrals, and blush for all the sisters. The 2 flowers girls wore lace ivory dresses, and the ring bearers were mini grooms.

heartfelt-oregon-wedding-at-wallowa-lake-41

We built custom benches to bring up on the mountain for the ceremony, way up on a mountain. We had to get permission from 3 property owners to drive up a mountain that has no roads. We got married on a Tuesday, (the day we met) in NE oregon and made everyone hike 20 minutes to the ceremony. We gave flowers to our guests to throw in the air after the first kiss.

Tanner is a wedding photographer by trade and Jordan is a good friend of ours. We trusted him completely to capture the day and he far exceeded what we had hoped for. The day was super fun, full of memories. Jordan was the perfect blend of staying behind the scenes and letting moments happen, being adventurous, willing to take our input and ideas but giving direction when we needed it. He truly captured the day, and we are so stoked!

We loved hearing everyone’s speeches. Honestly, there wasn’t a dry eye at the wedding! Everyone was so emotional, we all shared some beautiful moments together.

Mark and Kelly Stewart from Kelly Rae Stewart photography were absolutely amazing. Honestly, we didn’t even notice them there, they were like photography ninjas! We were so happy with our photos, they truly captured everything in such a natural, candid way. They were super easy going and it felt like we were just hanging out with old friends!

We wanted to keep our guest list as small as possible so that it felt really intimate for both our guests and us! We wanted to create the feeling of a casual ‘family’ style dinner so we wanted one big long table.

We also made ‘welcome gifts’ for all of our guests and left them in their villas and hotel rooms. We left a variety of different goodies in the packs including hand written personalised letters, piccolo’s of prosecco, cookies, a map of Positano, Italian chocolate etc… It was important to us that we made each guest feel special as everyone had made such an effort to come to our destination wedding.

an-intimate-amalfi-coast-wedding-that-doesnt-skimp-on-style-42

We are both such foodies and we really wanted food to be one of the main focuses of our day… we chose to do share plates of antipasto and pasta in order to create a ‘family’ dinner casual vibe. It worked so perfectly with our intimate long table and really created a sense of community among our guests.

an-intimate-amalfi-coast-wedding-that-doesnt-skimp-on-style-48

Our advice: Create a running sheet for the day and allow for all of the things to run over time. It helps to gauge an idea of how you would like your day to run. Also, relax!! And don’t focus on the minor details… no one will take any notice of them!!

We also created our own reception and dance music playlists using Spotify instead of having a band or a DJ. This worked brilliantly! We chose to play acoustic covers during the dinner and then created a really fun and upbeat playlist for the dance floor.

Colorful English Wedding at the East Quay

November 13, 2015 | nicole

Colorful-English-Wedding-at-the-East-Quay-Babb-Photo-90

On the longest day of the year and in an authentic lobster shack in Southeast England called East Quay, Carly and Alex tied the knot. A Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired a colorful and whimsical celebration complete with hanging ribbons, twinkle lights, and a boldly beautiful floral design by A Vintage WeddingBabb Photo captured every inch of the vibrant day, from the pink and orange reception décor to the candy-colored sunset.

The Couple:

Carly and Alex

The Wedding:

East Quay, Kent, England

The Inspiration: We had a few guiding principles for our wedding – we wanted something near our home, by the sea, as its a special place to us and a place that we enjoy sharing with all of our friends and family. And, we wanted something memorable and different, relaxed, but also that culminated in a giant party!
From this we ended up with a wedding at a genuine Lobster Shack places situated right on the beach on our home town of Whitstable, bang in the middle of the summer, over the weekend of the longest day.

Our outfits really reflected our whimsical seaside vibe – special, but not too stuffy! My Ian Stewart Midsummer Night’s Dream dress was aptly named and worked so well – it was both comfortable and striking, and as you got closer you could see more and more details with subtle sequins and hand embroidered dragonflies. I loved it. This was complimented with a BHLDN headpiece and a beautiful cascading bouquet.

We just adore the BOOM marquee, which so perfectly describes the burst of color and excitement on Carly and Alex’s wedding day!

We packed the venue with informal coral and orange flowers and heaps of greenery, succulents and shells, plus subtle seaside touches to create a real Midsummer’s Night Dream meets seaside celebration feel.

I think our photos speak for themselves. Laura Babb is incredibly talented and produced real pieces of work that won’t date and that you are happy to display on your walls as art for years to come. She was not at all intrusive throughout the wedding process and full of tips and advance before, during and after the day.

Black and White Wedding at The Veranda at Thornton Park

July 22, 2015 | nicole

20141206-Janelle-And-Jonathan1163

It only makes sense for a power couple like Janelle and Jonathan to look to another power couple of the past for their wedding inspiration. The black and white wedding at The Veranda at Thornton Park was inspired by Priscilla and Elvis Presley’s wedding circa 1967. The modern update included orchid-lined tables, a pale blue accent color, and a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. The Hons captured each detail and every moment so that the couple can cherish their day for the rest of their lives, and maybe even inspire a wedding or two of their own!

The Couple:

Janelle and Jonathan

The Wedding:

The Veranda at Thornton Park, Orlando, Florida

The Inspiration:

I would say our wedding style was reminiscent of that of Priscilla and Elvis Presley. It was very poised and elegant. Stark whites and rich colors. I was lucky enough to get my dress directly from its designer, Angel Sanchez, in NYC with my best friend Jenny and Mother in tow. It was a vintage inspired look with a crumb catcher, like none I have ever seen before. Jonathan wore a tailored J.Crew shall collar tuxedo which is also very classic and bold. The decor was majestic. Its really the only way to describe it. We were even styled with a full moon that evening that cast a glow over the entire venue.

The Moments:

It would probably be the moment I walked into the ceremony space. It was a pivotal moment for me. I was there holding my father’s hand as I walked in and saw all the faces of everyone I love in one place, all the beautiful work my mother and her friends did to make the space perfect in a way only THEY could, the sound of my brother Danny playing and singing the song that would guide me down the isle, seeing Jonathan at the end of it knowing I was about to begin to enjoy one of the greatest moments of my life.

The Couple Recommends:

Hiring The Hons as our photographers was THE EASIEST and best thing we could have done. Fact. They just get it. They are extremely motivated and passionate about their work. Logically you look for photographers with skill, and let me tell you, SKILL they have, but when you sit down with them you really see how they genuinely care about NOT MISSING ANYTHING.

The day of the wedding, they were there, bright and early, not like before the ceremony early, like 9am early. HOURS before the ceremony. The day before they went to the venue and covered the grounds surrounding and inside the venue. Why? To prepare themselves, to get their lighting, to time themselves, to scout the area for photo opportunities. THAT is the kind of dedication you want.
