This epic post-wedding shoot showcases a side of Hawaii that few people know exists. Rather than choosing one of the many idyllic beaches for their Hawaiian wedding photos, Alisha and Phillip opted for darker, moodier locales: an abandoned resort and a sprawling lava rock field. In stunning contrast, the bride wore a full-skirt blush gown by Allure Bridals and the groom looked dashing in a navy blue suit. With the help of the oh-so talented Karina and Maks, Alisha and Phillip commemorated their first day of married life with some of the most breathtaking photos we’ve ever seen!
The Couple:
Alisha and Phillip
The Wedding:
Kona, Hawaii
From the photographer: The amazing thing about post wedding bridals is that not only do you get to go to a dream location but you don’t have to worry about getting your dress dirty or about a wedding timeline. It’s a perfect day to just be with your love – to hold each other in moments of stillness, to share kisses and sweet embraces, and to embrace all the messy and wild moments!
When the topic of the location came up for the session, Phillip asked if I would be interested in exploring an abandoned resort with them. It was truly hard for me not to squeal with excitement! I absolutely love the contrast of abandoned places, paired with a beautiful couple in their wedding attire!
After shooting at the resort, we ventured out to a nearby beach and climbed some lava rocks for some dramatic pictures with lava landscapes. We ended the session near the calm of the ocean at sunset.
