Should You Have A Holiday Wedding?

September 8, 2022 | riley

Weddings are cause for celebration, as are holidays. This is why couples all over the world are choosing to celebrate the two together by hosting a holiday wedding. But choosing to host your special day on a holiday isn’t an easy choice. There’s a lot to consider–budget, guest list, vendor availability, and more.

If a holiday is significant to you and your partner and you’re considering tying the knot on said holiday, there are a few things to consider! That’s why we’re rounding up some of the pros and cons to make the decision easier for you–because the last thing you need is more stress while wedding planning.

Pros Of A Holiday Wedding

Feels more celebratory

One of the biggest advantages of having a holiday wedding is the celebratory atmosphere that the day carries. What’s better than saying “I do” before ringing in the new year with your close loved ones, for example? It also will make celebrating your anniversary every year that much more special.

Choosing a theme is easy

Holidays make choosing a theme and color palette a piece of cake. When we think of Christmas weddings, we think of burgundy, emerald green, and gold accents. For New Year’s Eve, you can play up the metallics with plenty of black, silver, and gold.

Holidays are also synonymous with certain foods, decor, and activities. This means wedding planning is already done for you when you lean into the theme. And the best part is that you can go as subtle or as over the top as you’d like.

Can lead to a smaller guest list

This one is both a pro and con depending on your wedding vision. We know that for some, a smaller wedding is ideal, but it feels impossible because of the long list of family and friends they feel obligated to invite. If this sounds like a predicament you’re in, a holiday wedding may be the perfect way to thin out your guest list naturally.

Cons of A Holiday Wedding

Guests may not be able to attend

It’s no secret that the holidays are some of the busiest times of year for most people. If you want a large guest list with all your closest friends and family, choosing to tie the knot on the bigger family-oriented holidays (i.e., Christmas or Thanksgiving) may not be the right choice for you. Smaller holidays (such as the Fourth of July or New Year’s Eve) may be a better option to ensure everyone can come.

Travel and lodging may be more expensive

The holidays are known to be the worst time for higher travel fares and pricier lodging. Everyone around the world is traveling, making it one of the most expensive times of the year. If you have a lot of guests who are going to be traveling for your special day, take into consideration the logistics of the travel.

Dream vendors may not be available

Hotels and flights aren’t the only things that get booked up quickly during the holiday season–vendors do too. Some of the vendors you want for your special day may be already booked or may be taking time off to spend time with their own families. When choosing your vendor dream team, discuss their holiday availability ASAP.

Financial strain for your guests

Not only will airfare and lodging be costly, but your guests are also likely spending a lot of money at the end of the year as is. Between buying gifts for the holidays and hosting parties, the last few months of the year are some of the most expensive. Adding a wedding to attend on top of that might be a financial burden that some can’t swing.

Tips For Hosting A Holiday Wedding

Consider making it a multi-day event

If you are going to host your special day on one of the bigger holidays, consider hosting a wedding weekend. This allows your guests to truly soak up time with one another and enjoy time in the destination if they are traveling. And because most people get multiple days off for the holidays, they most likely won’t need to take any time off of work, so they’ll be more inclined to stay longer.

Let guests know far in advance

If you are hosting a holiday wedding, let your guests know as soon as you can. Whether you tell them via physical save-the-dates or a wedding website, the more notice you give them, the higher the likelihood they’ll be able to attend. It’s also wise to book a hotel block for guests, so they don’t have to scramble to find a place to stay, which in turn will make them feel more at ease about attending.

Incorporate seasonal details to save money

Incorporating seasonal details such as food and florals is an easy way to fit with the theme, but more importantly, save you money. This could look like using an abundance of greenery for your winter nuptials or including desserts with apple or cranberries for your Thanksgiving “I do’s.” Your guests will assume that you’re leaning into the theme while your wallet will thank you.

Before you decide to host a holiday wedding, consider what that holiday means to you and your significant other. And most importantly, think about how important it is to you to have your family and friends in attendance. Once you think about these factors, you’ll be able to decide whether or not it’s the right choice for you.

Rustic Chic Wyresdale Park Wedding

August 17, 2022 | justine

Robyn and Jodie wanted to host a memorable big day that’s true to them–boasting all the fun and beautiful details without the constraints of a traditional wedding. With a charming barn venue, wild floral arrangements in a neutral color palette, and complementing chic bridal attire, their Wyresdale Park wedding had an ethereal yet modern vibe. And since the couple wanted to fill their big day with lots of thoughtful and personal touches, they decided to forego hiring a planner and took on the wedding planning themselves.

Their special day took place across different barns of the historic estate. The pair exchanged emotional vows at the Ceremony Barn, featuring hanging greenery and a candle-lined aisle. After the two tied the knot, they headed to the White Barn for their reception. Foraged greenery, feathery accents, and fairy lights transformed the space, giving it a romantic and whimsical feel. And as a perfect way to end the day, they danced the night away at the Party Barn.

From the adorable way they included their flower grannies in the ceremony to the drag queen performance at their reception, their big day was all about everything and everyone they loved. If you’re looking for unconventional wedding inspo or you love the idea of incorporating subtle rustic elements, you’re going to want to see these stunning images captured by Emily Robinson Photography.

Personalizing Their Wyresdale Park Wedding Ceremony Through Decor, Writing Their Vows, And Including Their Loved Ones

The ceremony was certainly the most memorable and special part of the day. We both didn’t expect much from the ceremony and were looking forward to everything after that. However, it was magical. The room was perfectly stunning–decorated with dried flowers and greenery–and full of love from our family and friends. We also wrote our own vows and found this much more meaningful. We had two of our bridesmaids write a personalized reading in the form of a sentimental poem. We even danced back up the aisle with our friends and family following.

Giving Their Grandmothers Special Roles As Flower Grannies

Instead of having flower girls, we had our beautiful grandmas. Flower grannies were something we had come across on social media and thought it was a really special touch. They all loved it and have recently found fame on TikTok with over two million views!

Personalized Wedding Favors For Both Their Adult And Young Guests

We gave our guests personalized shots of Limoncello along with s’mores for the fire in the evening. Both of these we made ourselves with a bit of help from the bridesmaids. For the children that came to the wedding, we ordered activity boxes off Etsy, which kept them occupied throughout the wedding breakfast.

DIY Confetti Packs And Wine Bottle Seating Chart

We DIY’d a lot ourselves. Not only did it save money, but it meant we put our own touch on the day. We made the confetti packs ourselves, putting dried flowers into biodegradable packs and personalized stickers. For our seating plan, we collected empty wine bottles, stuck labels on the front, and put dried flowers in them to fit the theme.

Their Photographer Was Their Cheerleader And Support System

We didn’t realize how important it would be to make sure you pick the right photographer to capture the day. Emily was fantastic from the minute we started speaking to her. She made it very easy on the day with her creative and fun direction. Emily didn’t miss one memorable moment. This was probably harder for her, given we are two brides! She also helped make the day run as smoothly as possible while always reassuring us that this was our day, so don’t worry about timings.

Colorful and Whimsical Micro Wedding in Paradise

August 13, 2022 | riley

For Josie and Robert, it was quite the wedding journey. After the heartbreak of having to postpone to a later date, the pair finally had the intimate getaway celebration they’ve always wanted. In a colonial estate in the middle of town surrounded by cobblestone streets, hand-carved monuments, and cathedrals, their whimsical micro wedding in Casa Chorro was vibrant, festive, and magical. It started with a mariachi band welcome and a stunning rooftop party with panoramic views of the rural areas and the golden sunset as their backdrop.

Set among the lush green gardens of the property, the couple exchanged emotional vows under a canopy of overgrown greenery and florals. The following reception featured colorful foraged floral arrangements on long wooden tables filled with candles. Meanwhile, irresistible seasonal Mexican dishes turned their reception into a true fiesta. The couple danced the night away, surrounded by their closest loved ones at their favorite place.

If you think dreamy destination weddings in Mexico are only limited to the beaches, think again! Fall in love with the art, culture, and architecture of San Miguel de Allende with these gorgeous photos captured by Junebug member Mariana Pierce

Surprising Their Guests With Their Whimsical Micro Wedding In Paradise

Our guests fell in love with San Miguel when initially they couldn’t understand why we didn’t choose a coastal location. We feel most proud of that. We had friends looking at real estate and other friends already excited about when we could all go back again. And we had one set of friends who wanted to cancel their already planned wedding and have a wedding in San Miguel and hire Mariana.  What a great compliment. It was the first vacation most of our guests had taken since COVID. We got a small legal wedding for my aunt and grandmother, two blocks from where my parents had first met. We got the bigger wedding we wanted in our favorite place. We got to introduce people we love to a town we love, and they all loved it. Not everyone realizes how great Mexico is outside of the beaches.

Why They Chose Casa Chorro As Their Venue

We wanted everyone to stay in town and be able to walk or take a short cab ride. We love walking around downtown San Miguel, so the search was narrow to start. Casa Chorro had all the historic beauty, incredible views, and enough space for the different events we wanted. Since it’s multi-level, the guests were at the property for two days and saw other parts of the venue at different times.

Personalizing Their Ceremony By Incorporating Personal Details And A Colorful Confetti Exit

Adam, our friend who married us, was amazing at helping make the ceremony more personal. He even was legally ordained though it wasn’t a requirement in Mexico. He incorporated some of the vows we shared at our Indiana wedding with my aunt and grandmother, along with so much in which he wrote himself. There was laughter and tears, which is basically who we are as people. We also used a small shop on Etsy to print custom program envelopes and filled them with confetti. Walking down the aisle at the end was so much fun.

Enjoying A Private Moment After Their Ceremony

The most memorable part of the day was when it was just Robert, Mariana, and I taking photos during the cocktail hour. We were sitting on the roof of Casa Chorro, and we both looked over and saw the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel beautifully lit up during golden hour. We could hear all our friends and family having fun right below us during the cocktail hour, and we just were like, “we did it.”  We were just sitting there looking at the church and skyline, and it just felt like we were on top of the world. And we did it together. It was just really nice to have that quiet moment of celebration for just the two of us. And, of course, genius Mariana got it on film and made a cute IG reel. What a queen.

How They Overcame Wedding Planning Challenges

Initially, we planned our wedding for March 2021, but we pushed it to September 2021 when we weren’t sure when we would all get vaccinated. When this was all happening, my grandmother turned 100. My parents and other grandparents had already passed away, so I was nervous not to have her be a part of our wedding somehow. Having to delay made me even more worried. Luckily, we were able to go to the midwest and have a small wedding in October 2020 with just Robert, my aunt, my grandmother, and me. It was some of the last months her memory was good, and if we had waited until September 2021, she wouldn’t have known who I was to her. She passed away in November 2021 after turning 101.

How To Plan A Wedding Weekend Itinerary

August 9, 2022 | riley

Image by Apollo Fotografie. Keep reading for our wedding weekend itinerary tips

It seems like just a couple of years ago a wedding meant one singular day. Nowadays, more couples are opting to extend their special day into a multi-day wedding weekend full of activities, food and drinks, and a whole lot of fun. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, but you’re unsure about the logistics, don’t fret.

Whether you’re keeping your celebration close to home or jetting off to a dreamy destination, there’s a lot that goes into planning a 3-day event. That’s why we’ve created this guide to help make your planning process as seamless as possible–with everything from tips to a sample itinerary.

Why have a wedding weekend?

You may be wondering why wedding weekends are becoming increasingly popular when they tend to come with a higher price tag. If the budget allows it, wedding weekends are a great way to spend more time with your guests and soak in the feeling of love with your significant other. This is especially true if you have family and friends visiting from around the world that you don’t see very often.

If you’re having a destination wedding, this also gives you more time to explore the destination, making it more like a vacation rather than a quick day trip. If your guests haven’t visited before, they’re going to want to see all that the city or country has to offer.

Wedding Weekend Tips

There are so many moving parts that go into a wedding weekend. To save yourself from stress and ensure that everyone has a great time, here are some things that you can do while planning your big days–or should we say days

1. Hire A Planner

This one may seem like a given, but because there’s so much to think about with wedding weekends, hiring a wedding planner is the best thing you can do for your sanity–especially a wedding planner that is local to the area. They’ll save you money on your vendors, help you plan fun activities, and keep your stress levels at bay.

2. Consider Logistics Such As Accommodation and Transportation

One of the easiest ways to host a wedding weekend is to tie the knot in a venue that doubles as accommodation. Think hotels, Airbnbs, campgrounds, bed and breakfasts, etc. This allows your guest to stay on property without worrying about transportation.

If you choose to say “I do” elsewhere, put together a hotel block for your guests and consider arranging transportation to and from the lodging. You’re not required to pay for their rental cars, but if you do plan on hosting different activities throughout the weekend, it’s best that you help them get to and from said activities.

3. State Your Plans in the Invitation

Whether you’re sending out physical invitations or you’re planning on using a wedding website, it’s crucial that you discuss your plans on the invite. This way, they know what to expect beforehand and aren’t met with any surprises once they arrive.

4. Send Save-the-Dates Early

Ideally, you want to send your save-the-dates out eight to twelve months before the big day–especially if your guests need to travel or it’s a multi-day celebration. This gives them plenty of time to make arrangements with work, kids, etc.

5. Plan Events Around the Destination

As a thank you to your guests for helping celebrate you and your partner, plan activities they can enjoy. This is especially fun if you have a destination wedding where you can try something regional–i.e., wine tastings, a cooking class, a boat ride, etc.

However, it is important to be mindful of leisure time. You don’t want to create a jam-packed itinerary where no one has time to rest.

6. Put Together A Local Guide With Recommendations

If you only plan 1-2 activities or you want to give your guests the freedom to roam the city, put together a local guide with recommendations. If it’s a place that you are not very familiar with, talk with your planner. They’re sure to have favorite spots your guests can enjoy during their downtime. To make it a cute little favor, create an adorable handout that you can include in their welcome bags (which we’ll get to shortly).

7. Don’t Expect Guests To Attend Every Event

A wedding weekend is a big commitment for everyone involved–not just you and your fiancé. Remain flexible with your guests and make it known that they are not expected to attend every single activity. Whether they can only fly in the day of the wedding because of work or can’t fit the activities into their budget, be sympathetic. All that matters is that they’re there to celebrate with you.

8. Themes Tie the Weekend Together

If you’re not careful, a wedding weekend can quickly feel unorganized. Having a theme will help lessen the chance of this by creating a cohesive flow of events. Some of our favorites include a wellness retreat complete with yoga and spa days, a summer camp with s’mores and lawn games, or a fiesta full of tacos and margaritas.

9. Make Welcome Bags

Speaking of themes, kickstart your wedding weekend with welcome bags full of goodies your guests will need for their trip. If you’re hosting a beach wedding, include items like sunscreen, sunglasses, and flip-flops. If you’re spending the weekend in wine country, throw in things like a mini hangover kit, cheese and crackers, and a personalized wine glass.

Hosting a weekend means you’ll probably want to document every activity. And while you’re most likely going to have a wedding photographer on your big day, we know it’s not in everyone’s budget to hire one for all three days. That’s why we recommend throwing a disposable camera into the welcome bag. At the end of the weekend, you can collect them all to get them developed.

Wedding Weekend Itinerary Example

Now that you know some of the top tips to have a successful wedding weekend, let’s take a look at an easy-to-follow itinerary example!

Day 1: Welcome Party

Whether traveling across the world or tying the knot in your home city and having guests flying in, a welcome party is an easy, laid-back way to welcome your guests and get them excited for your big day. It’s also the perfect way to let your guests mingle and get to know one another if they don’t already.

The welcome party can be a backyard BBQ, a picnic in the park, a sunset boat ride, a trip to a brewery or winery, etc. It’s entirely up to you.

Day 2: Wedding

The second day of your wedding weekend will most likely be your big day. This includes the ceremony and the reception. Because of this, to keep yourself feeling good on wedding day, try not to go too crazy the night before.

Day 3: Farewell Brunch/Lunch

When you’re constantly being pulled in a hundred different directions on your wedding day, it can be hard to find the time to thank your guests for coming and spending time with you. That’s why a farewell brunch or lunch is so helpful. It allows you to express your gratitude in a relaxed setting and soak up more time with your friends and family before jetting off on your honeymoon.

Now that you’ve figured out your wedding weekend itinerary, it’s time to think about the logistics of planning your destination wedding. Luckily we’ve put together this guide that covers everything from finding your vendors to how to save money.

Tips For Creating And Ordering Your Wedding Invitations

  • Use colors from your mood board that’ll be incorporated in your wedding decor and fashion
  • Make sure your wedding invitations are legible (we’re talking about your font and color choices)
  • Make your wedding invites straightforward, only adding necessary information and not overcrowding the invites
  • Order extra 20-25 wedding invitations just in case
  • Consider hiring a calligrapher to address your wedding envelopes for a more personal touch

Wedding Invitations FAQ

What Is The Average Cost Of Wedding Invitations?

The price of wedding invitations will vary. If you and your significant other choose paper invites, this price will be dependent on your design, printing style, paper quantity, and quantity. The average cost typically ranges between $300 and $700 for both invitations and envelopes. Keep in mind, any extras will add to that starting price.

If you are working with a tight budget, consider paying for an invitation template that you can customize on your computer and then have printed. These templates typically cost anywhere from $2 to $20. All you then have to do is pay for printing.

How Do I Choose My Wedding Invitation Design?

Before creating your wedding invitations, you’ll want to have a clear understanding of your wedding style, theme, and colors. Is your wedding sleek and modern, or is it a casual backyard affair? What flowers will be incorporated into your arrangements? Which colors will be prominent in your fashion and decor? The answer to these questions will heavily influence the design of your invites.

When should I order wedding invitations?

From designing to printing, the whole invitation process can take anywhere between three to six weeks. With wedding invitations typically being sent out six to eight weeks before your big day, you’ll want to order invitations at least five to seven months before your big day. This will alleviate your stress and leave wiggle room in case of any speed bumps during the process.

Again, this timeline is dependent on the company and design you choose. That’s why it’s so important to do your research before hitting that purchase button.

How far in advance should I send out my wedding invitations?

For a more traditional celebration, sending out your wedding invitations six to eight weeks before your wedding date is a good rule of thumb. If you’re hosting a destination wedding, invitations should be sent out to your guests three months in advance. This gives loved ones time to book transportation and accommodations and clear their schedule.

Wedding planning is quickly evolving, making it easier and easier for couples to bring their dream wedding to life. Desert Disco-Themed Palm Springs Wedding

Known for its warm weather, architecture, and retro atmosphere, Palm Springs is the perfect city for couples wanting to travel back into time–and that’s exactly what Laura and Tom were looking for. With the keywords “fun,” “casual,” and “party” in mind, they landed on a disco-themed Palm Springs wedding at Ace Hotel and Swim Club

Paying homage to their hometowns–Arizona and Maryland–along with their new home–Los Angeles–the newlywed’s special day was complete with pink flamingos, desert details, a taco bar, and a custom-made swan boat mimicking those found in Echo Park Lake. And as if that wasn’t fun enough, they also incorporated disco balls galore, donuts, and a late-night dip in the pool–fully dressed in their wedding attire, of course.

These two proved they know how to party, and luckily, Junebug member and photographer Alicia Wiley was there to capture it all. So whether you’re looking for retro wedding inspiration or want to break tradition and create a day that is the epitome of unconventional, scroll through these photos to travel back to the 70s.

How The Newlyweds Chose The Ace Hotel For Their Disco-Themed Palm Springs Wedding

When we originally went to look at venues, we brought a friend, Katherine Brooks. She suggested that we come up with three words that best describe how we see our wedding. The words were “fun,” “casual,” and “party!” We were really having a hard time with so many great options in Palm Springs, and she said, “remember your words.” That immediately landed us at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club.

Incorporating Their Hometowns Into The Special Day

We wanted to incorporate our hometowns and where we live now. We had Baltimore vibes with pink flamingos and old bay shrimp. Arizona was represented with cacti. And our new home in Los Angeles was represented with elote and a custom swan boat to mimic Echo Park lake. Keeping with our words, we had a quick ceremony followed by the LA Roller Girls passing out cocktails. Dinner was a taco bar, and instead of cake, we had donuts from Donas. The night continued with dancing, more roller girls, and a dip in the pool!

Creating A Memorable Wedding Weekend For Their Guests

I think everyone really enjoyed themselves, and we created a memorable weekend. We started with my uncles hosting welcome drinks at Margaritaville, complete with leis and crazy glasses, to set the tone of fun! We ended with a Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday. Our guests traveled from LA to as far as London, so I wanted everyone to really have a great time and enjoy Palm Springs.

Unique New Year’s Eve Wedding In Minneapolis

July 23, 2022 | riley

When Amanda and Bret got engaged in January of 2020, they had no idea that a global pandemic would stop them from tying the knot on New Year’s Eve later that year. Much like many other couples all over the world, the couple was forced to postpone their wedding. Luckily, they didn’t have to give up their dream of having an NYE celebration.

With the help of planner This Love Weddings, the two said “I do” hours in a ceremony complete with candles and cafe lights galore, hanging florals and greenery, and small winter touches like wreaths and Christmas trees. The reception at The Varsity Theater that followed featured art deco signage, faux snow, and gilded gold details. Once the clock struck midnight, the newlyweds and all of their friends and family gathered in a circle to sing “Auld Lang Syne” and kick-off 2022 in one of the most memorable ways possible.

From the emotional first look to the snowy portraits in the heart of a Minnesota storm, Junebug member Adrian Steinbach did an amazing job of capturing all of the details of this vintage-inspired affair. Keep scrolling to take a step back in time and get inspired for your very own NYE nuptials.

Incorporating The Season Into Their Unique New Year’s Eve Wedding

We wanted to run with the New Year’s vibe in terms of the look and experience of the wedding, but we also wanted to embrace the cold, winter date of the wedding (it was well below freezing and lightly snowing on the day itself). Some choices were hence pretty straightforward. We used black, white, and gold as the general color scheme and leaned into a slightly art-deco design for our poster and printed materials. Bret and his groomsmen wore black suits to match the scheme. I wore a classic lace A-line dress, and my bridesmaids wore black dresses. A bit of a happy coincidence–our guests stayed a very art deco hotel downtown–the Foshay Tower

Wedding Planning Advice From The Couple

In planning, we encourage others to embrace adaptability. The wedding planning market (especially with venues and dates) can be very difficult to navigate. It’s this strange paradox of having so many choices and–after making a selection–feeling locked in and committed to that choice. Just know that all will be fine if a particular element doesn’t work out. You’ll walk away from your wedding, valuing the shared time you have with your partner, family, and friends. All the particulars of the event are very secondary to that happiness.

How They Chose The Varsity As Their Venue

Before we knew what we wanted, we knew what we didn’t want. We sought to avoid country clubs and event spaces, namely those somewhat pre-fab spaces clearly designed for expensive, Instagram-y weddings. That’s not to say these venues cannot be perfect for couples. We just wanted a unique space. The Varsity Theater, once we saw it was available, was the first thing we booked. It was relatively affordable, strange and beautiful, fit for a live band, apt for an open and well-stocked bar, and historically interesting. Bret is a film studies professor, so he was in love with the venue’s history as a movie theater and its amazing marquee.

DIY Details That Fit The Unique New Year’s Eve Wedding Theme

We DIYed all the printed material and designed it in the New Year’s/art deco style. We did the save the dates (photoshopping the event details into an artistic rendition of the Varsity marquee), the invitations, posters, table cards, welcome guides (listing event details and things to do in Minneapolis), and the specialty cocktail posters (for which we added gold foil ourselves onto a black background, white text). We also added a few flowers and candelabras to the Varsity decor.

Personalizing The Reception With Interactive Games

Given our friends and we are all kind of dorky, we wrote 15 trivia questions that each table could answer together. Split into three categories, these questions told each of our stories and our story together, using those details toward more general knowledge questions. Before the first dance, we announced the answers, giving us a platform to also thank our guests.

Ringing In The New Year With A Song

By the night’s end, we embraced the New Year’s event, handing out various hats and noisemakers at 11:30 pm. And at midnight, with an artificial snowfall over the dance floor, everyone sang “Auld Lang Syne” together to ring in the new year.

Unique and Colorful Glasgow Wedding

The changing leaves, the crisp air, the cozy and romantic feeling—it’s no wonder Alex and Mark chose autumn as the time to get married. With a charming converted church venue, a moody seasonal color palette, and well-placed pumpkin decor, the pair’s colorful Glasgow wedding had all the elements to make it a unique fall celebration.

Formerly a historic church with its original stained-glass windows and ornate stonework, Cottiers Theater was the perfect magical setting for their big day. Overgrown florals and foliage in autumn colors lined the aisle and adorned the pillars creating a beautiful backdrop for the couple’s vow exchange beneath the pulpit. These arrangements were repurposed as the space was flipped into a warm and inviting reception area. The pair embraced the best of the season through a charming tablescape of greenery, flowers in warm tones, and charming mini-pumpkins. Fairy lights draped across the ceiling amped up the dreamy vibe as the couple danced the night away with their guests.

And as if the setting wasn’t spectacular enough, the two stood out in their stylish wedding attire. The groom was fashionably on-theme in his terracotta suit, while the bride was the definition of timeless elegance in a combined bateau and V-neckline dress. Are you falling in love with fall? We can’t blame you! Because not all pumpkins are destined to become Halloween jack-o’-lanterns. Take inspiration from these gorgeous images by Junebug member Martin McLellan for unique ideas that will make your big day an autumn dream come true.

How They Selected The Perfect Venue For Their Colorful Glasgow Wedding

Cottiers suited us for several reasons. It was local and central to most of our family and friends. It really suited the aesthetic we were going for. It had a good reputation as a wedding venue and was familiar with the other services we chose, which made planning a lot easier. Catering was also included, which removed the stress of organizing external catering.

Spending Time Together Just The Two Of Them On Their Wedding Day Was The Most Memorable Moment

The most memorable part was probably being taken for our photos as we went on a short drive near our venue, had a glass of champagne, and went for a lovely autumn walk around the west end of Glasgow, chatting and casually being photographed. It was the only time throughout the day that we had a minute to breathe and be alone together.

Creating Spreadsheets To Keep Wedding Planning On Track

We would definitely recommend using spreadsheets to keep track of everything—from budget and checklists to menu options and guest information. Having the guest spreadsheet was also helpful after the wedding to keep track of any gifts received to send out thank you cards.

Personalizing Their Wedding Through DIY Touches

We DIY’d our own favors, which we really enjoyed and felt gave a personal touch and cut some costs. We bought the bags from amazon, embroidered them with our initials with a small design, and made our own tablet. We arranged for a table and decorated it with flowers, wedding pictures of our parents and grandparents, and Jenga pieces for our guests to sign as an alternative guest book. We also made a music playlist that catered to all ages at the wedding and created a great atmosphere throughout the evening.

Photographer Captured Real And Natural Moments Of Their Special Day

Working with Martin McLellan was fantastic. We loved Martin’s candid shots and actually forgot he was there at times. Our guests commented on his professionalism and attention to detail, along with the fact that he didn’t interrupt the flow of the day with lots of staged photos. We really enjoyed the walk he took us on for our photos and the different types of pictures he created. Everyone loved the final photos and commented that he really captured the day well. Martin made us feel very comfortable as we were quite nervous and awkward about getting our picture taken. He made us laugh and was lovely to chat with throughout the day. We would highly recommend Martin!
