Whether you’re planning a wedding in your home country or you’re jetting off to Mexico for a destination wedding, one of the most important aspects of wedding planning is finding a wedding photographer. This can be especially difficult when you’re hundreds of miles away. Thanks to social media (and things like Junebug’s highly-vetted vendor directory), seeing a photographer’s portfolio is easier than ever. So, if you’re looking for your dream photographer, you’re in luck. We’re rounding up some of the best Mexico wedding photographers to help capture your special day.

Best Mexico Wedding Photographers

1. Fer Juaristi

Photography Style: Outside-the-box photojournalistic

Good for: Couples who want to break the rules

Review: “We were lucky to have Fer and his second shooter (Mike) as our wedding photographers for our three-day multicultural celebration in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. From the moment we saw his work, we knew he had a unique talent that is very difficult to match. One thing that struck us from the very beginning is that he approaches every wedding as an experiment, aiming to create something novel. We wanted someone who would have the passion and the skills to capture the essence of the day in a way that is utterly distinct and personal. Fer has the ability to create something extraordinary out of nothing. He can really transform simple moments with usual backgrounds into stunning works of art. Throughout our wedding festivities, he seemed to be everywhere and nowhere at once, effortlessly capturing every precious detail without ever being intrusive. It feels like he possesses an ability to anticipate the perfect shot before it even happens.”

Review: “Terrified of stiff, awkward, corny photos, we met Ana and knew it would all work out. She lights up the room: her incredible energy and lightheartedness are contagious, and she takes you from nervously posing to enjoying a shoot in a second. As corny as it may sound, Ana captures magic. She makes thousands of memories of the 687 emotions you are too overwhelmed to understand you are going through in a wedding day. Looking through our photos, we couldn’t believe how she had put on a screen exactly how we felt; the mood of the wedding and just opening our gallery took us right back. Ana brought tears to our eyes and the most overwhelming joy. Ana came into our lives to stay. We will never trust anyone else to treasure our most important moments, and after such an adventure together, we are privileged to call her a friend.”

I found Celia on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her work! We got a quote for a VERY reasonable price, especially when compared to other photographers in the area, and decided to move forward with her and her team. We purchased the package with 8 hours of photography and videography, which in turn included 576 photos, a one-minute video, a four-minute video, and an hour-long video. When I tell you we could not have been happier with the outcome, I TRULY mean it!!!! She blew our expectations out of the water! We have people telling us that our pics should be in a magazine! We are SO thankful for her and her team. We will cherish these photos and videos forever. I could not recommend Celia and her team enough! You will not regret hiring her! INCREDIBLE WORK!”

She was very knowledgeable about the hotel and the best places for scenery and lighting on the property. How to Travel With Your Wedding Dress

April 8, 2024 | kailey

Are you dreaming of a romantic wedding in a faraway destination? Perhaps you envision an adventurous winter wedding amidst the Scottish Highlands or a summer cliffside soirée in Italy. Regardless of the location, those planning a destination wedding will inevitably encounter some obstacles along the way—beyond hiring vendors or finding a venue from afar.

Planning a wedding from hundreds or thousands of miles away comes with its own set of challenges. And one that’s often overlooked is sorting out travel logistics, especially regarding your wedding dress. Shoving your precious gown into a suitcase and hoping for the best isn’t the best strategy. So, if your destination wedding dreams are becoming a reality, here’s how to travel with your wedding dress to ensure that it makes it safely (and in time) for your big day.

Options For Traveling With Your Wedding Dress

1. Carry-on

Unfortunately, misplaced luggage happens more frequently than one would hope. After spending a lot of time, energy, and money planning your big day, the last thing you want is to be left standing at baggage claim with no suitcase in sight. The only way to avoid this situation altogether is to opt for the carry-on option.

Before booking your flight, make sure it’s the approved size and that there will be extra room for oversized carry-on pieces, should you need it. Some airlines reserve space in the first-class cabin area to store larger items like wedding dresses or suits. However, rather than assuming this is the case, we highly recommend calling the airline ahead of time to confirm.

2. Purchase An Extra Ticket

When it comes to international travel, spending thousands on an extra ticket may not be the most practical solution. However, consider purchasing an additional ticket for your wedding dress for shorter distances where flights are more affordable. If there is room in your budget, this is a great option for those who want to keep their wedding gowns close and spread out, lessening the chances of wrinkles.

3. Check Your Wedding Dress

We know that lugging around a bulky carry-on item can add unnecessary stress to your travel journey. You’ve already got a lot going on, so we understand carrying your dress on may not be appealing to everyone. For those who prefer not to hassle with transporting their dress by hand, checking your gown is always an option. However, it’s important to note that this is arguably the riskiest way to get it to your destination. In fact, you’ll find that most bridal boutiques do not recommend this. If this is the route you take, be sure to arrive at your destination early in case of baggage troubles, and consider adding an Airtag to the luggage so you can keep track of it.

4. Ship Your Wedding Dress

If the thought of traveling with your wedding dress seems daunting, consider shipping it to your destination. Using a reliable shipping service to handle your gown long before your wedding day can relieve any travel concerns. Plus, many shipping companies offer tracking and insurance, so you can be assured your valuable items will be well taken care of if something goes wrong.

Tips on How to Travel With Your Wedding Dress

When it comes to traveling with your wedding dress, there are more options than you might have thought. Regardless of which one you choose, there are still many preventative steps you can take to ensure your gown is fully protected. Here are a few Junebug-approved tips that will help ease any concerns you may have.

1. Call Your Airline Ahead

If you’re flying to your destination, call your airline ahead of time to discuss your options. They can clarify any confusion and provide all the logistical and pricing information needed. Plus, they may be able to make special arrangements to accommodate your dress.

2. Steam or Press Before Packing

Before packing your dress, make sure it’s clean and wrinkle-free. Consider getting it professionally cleaned, steamed, and pressed to remove any wrinkles or creases. This is an important step for those having a destination wedding because it saves you the hassle of finding these services when you arrive. If you’re worried about wrinkles during traveling, pack a handheld steamer and do a little DIY touch-up on your wedding day.

3. Invest in a Quality Garment Bag

If you’re traveling with your wedding dress in hand, invest in a high-quality garment bag designed for wedding dresses. Finding one that is sturdy, made of good material, and has enough space to accommodate the dress without cramming it is key to protecting your gown. Not sure where to start? Consider Wally Bags, which you can have shipped to your doorstep quickly with Amazon.

4. Watch Tutorials on Folding

Every wedding dress is unique, so the folding strategy will vary depending on the style and material. For those shipping their wedding dresses or packing their gown in a suitcase, we suggest searching for tutorials on the best folding technique tailored to your dress.

The key is to have tissue paper and cardboard on hand to place between folds to keep your dress safe and sturdy, especially if it has delicate beading.

5. Pack in a Waterproof Box

Using a waterproof box is essential for those shipping their dress or packing it in a suitcase. Remember, in these situations, you won’t have complete control over how your dress is handled. That’s why it’s crucial to set yourself up for success, and a waterproof box provides an extra layer of protection.

6. Arrive Early

If you’re planning to pack your wedding dress in a suitcase, aim to arrive at your destination early. As we’ve said, lost luggage is not uncommon. Arriving early gives you the extra time needed to address any potential mishaps or, in the worst-case scenario, arrange for a new last-minute wedding outfit.

7. Pack an Emergency Kit

You have to be prepared for anything and everything on your wedding day. That’s why we recommend putting together a fashion emergency kit to save the day if anything needs last-minute touch-ups. Having a sewing kit, instant stain remover, and a handheld steamer can be a lifesaver when you least expect it.

For those planning a destination wedding, ensuring your wedding dress arrives safely is stressful. But you still want to be prepared for any unexpected emergency that may pop up when you arrive. That’s why having a wedding day emergency kit is so important. Not sure what to include our guide breaks down the must-have items that’ll solve almost every problem under the sun.

Wedding Ceremony Timeline and Tips for Personalizing the Script

April 3, 2024 | kailey

Image by Manuel Aldana. See more of this real wedding here.

A wedding ceremony is more than just exchanging vows. With so many moving pieces, it’s crucial to iron out the details well before walking down the aisle. That’s why many host a rehearsal dinner the day before to make certain that everyone is on the same page. Having a clear wedding ceremony timeline also helps to ensure that everyone knows their role—from the officiant and DJ to key family members, the wedding party, and, of course, the couple.

A clear timeline to refer back to is essential. But there tends to be a lot of confusion when it comes to actually creating a timeline. What comes first? How many readings should you incorporate? When does the unity ceremony take place? These are all valid questions. That’s why we’ve put together a traditional wedding ceremony timeline for you to reference. But keep in mind every wedding is unique, including the timeline and script.

This guide can help you decide what to keep and what to skip. We’ve also included some tips on how to personalize the script, ensuring it authentically reflects your love story and vision for the day.

Wedding Ceremony Timeline

1. Guests Get Seated

At any ceremony, the first step is always guiding guests to their seats. You can hire ushers or dedicate vendors–like your wedding planner–to take on this role. You can also rely on signage to direct your guests to the correct places. Traditionally, important family members like grandparents, parents, and siblings are included in the processional, so reserve the first row for them.

2. Processional Begins

Just before the procession begins, your officiant will take their place. When the music starts, it’s the first partner’s cue to walk down the aisle, followed by important family members like grandparents, parents, and possibly siblings. Then comes the wedding party. Bridesmaids and groomsmen can choose to walk down separately or pair up—it’s your call. Once everyone is in position, the music will change, guests will rise, and the next partner will make her grand entrance down the aisle.

Recommended Reading: Unique Wedding Processional Songs for Walking Down the Aisle in Style

3. Opening Remarks From the Officiant

Once everyone is settled, the officiant will say a few words to welcome and thank everyone on behalf of the couple. This part of the ceremony is typically short and heartfelt. In religious ceremonies, the officiant may also include a prayer.

Image by Memorelle. See more of this real wedding here.

4. Readings

This part of the ceremony carries special meaning, which is why couples often have a trusted officiant or a close family member conduct the readings. Whoever you choose to deliver these heartfelt words, it’s essential this section is tailored to reflect your relationship.

The readings you select will be influenced by whether your wedding is religious or not. For religious ceremonies, readings can come from sacred texts like the Bible or Torah. However, in non-religious ceremonies, readings can be poems or personal anecdotes. It’s all about choosing sweet words that resonate with you both.

Recommended Reading: LGBTQ+ Ceremony Scripts and Readings

5. Exchanging of Vows

You and your guests are going to want to have tissues handy for this emotional part of the wedding ceremony. The exchanging of vows is an intimate moment where you both express your commitment to each other. You have the option to recite traditional vows provided by your officiant or fully personalize the ceremony by writing your own vows

We’ve also seen many couples opt to read their vows privately before the ceremony, often during the first look. This can be a great option for those who aren’t comfortable wearing their heart on their sleeve for all their loved ones to see. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. It’s truly all about what feels most authentic to you as a couple.

6. Include a Unity Ceremony in Your Wedding Ceremony Timeline

A unity ceremony is an optional wedding tradition that symbolizes two lives coming together as one. Oftentimes, it’s a ritual with religious or cultural significance, though this isn’t always the case. Whether you go the traditional route or in a unique direction, this is still an extremely special way for a couple to personalize their wedding. It adds a sweet and sentimental touch that beautifully represents your love.

Image by Henry and Mac. See more of this real wedding here.

7. Ring Exchange

After exchanging all the heartfelt words, it’s time to exchange wedding rings. Your officiant will guide you as you each slip the ring onto each other’s fingers, one at a time. These rings symbolize your love and commitment that you’ll proudly wear long beyond your wedding day.

If you want to ditch physical jewelry altogether,, get matching wedding ring tattoos—a one-of-a-kind wedding detail that challenges tradition.

8. Pronouncement and First Kiss

“I now pronounce you…” are the magical words everyone’s been waiting for. This is the moment when you’re officially recognized as a married couple. It’s time for your first kiss as newlyweds and time to soak up the excitement from your guests before making your grand exit from the ceremony space.

Image by Skyler & Vhan Photography. See more of this real wedding here.

9. Recessional

The recessional marks the grand finale after your officiant declares you married. This kickstarts the walk back down the aisle. First, the newlyweds lead the way, followed by their wedding party. To add an extra touch of magic to the moment, consider having guests toss petals or confetti to create a stunning photo opportunity.

Tips for Personalizing the Script

After breaking down the traditional ceremony timeline and its components, it’s time to consider how you can elevate your script. Since there’s no one-size-fits-all ceremony, we’re leaving you with some tips to ensure your script is tailored to you and your unique love story.

1. Have a Family Member or Friend Officiant

No one knows you better than your loved ones. So, having someone close to you officiate your wedding can add an incredibly personal touch to your ceremony. This individual knows you both inside and out, allowing them to convey your love beautifully.

2. Get Loved Ones Included During Processional

There are no rules when it comes to your wedding. So, if you want to include more special people in your processional, do it. You can have your dog play ring bearer, your grandma be the flower girl, etc.

3. Write Your Own Vows

Writing your own vows is a powerful way to add meaning to your ceremony script. It’s your opportunity to pour your heart out, vocalizing why you’ve fallen for this person. You can also share personal stories that brought you to this moment at the altar. It’s your chance to scream your love from the mountaintops for all to hear.

4. Trade Traditional Readings for Personal Anecdotes

Sharing letters expressing why you love each other and memorable stories gives your officiant insight into your relationship. By incorporating these anecdotes into the readings, they can add an extra layer of personalization to your ceremony script.

5. Use Music to Enhance Your Ceremony

Music sets the tone for your wedding day, including your ceremony. Your choice of processional and recessional songs can personalize the moment. So, when making your music selections, carefully consider your playlist. Make sure only to pick songs that resonate with you and your partner.

6. Get Guests Involved

Get your guests involved during the ceremony by including something like a ring-warming ceremony where the rings are passed around to all of the guests to bless before they’re exchanged by the couple.

No wedding is alike, making it difficult to navigate the planning process at times. While our wedding ceremony timeline guide is a helpful starting point, it’s worth considering hiring a wedding planner and officiant to fine-tune these details for you. They’ll play a key role in crafting a timeline and script that truly reflects your love story and vision for the day.

This Minimalistic Masía Aldamar Wedding Was a Fairytale Come to Life

March 26, 2024 | justine

A historic winery and oil mill turned wedding venue adorned with lush florals and pared-back decor—Elena and Roberto’s Masía Aldamar wedding combined rustic charm with a minimalist luxurious style. The pair aimed to highlight their venue’s Mediterranean vibe complemented with thoughtful and understated elegance, and they succeeded perfectly. Their big day was just what they dreamed of: beautiful, relaxed, and full of love.

Nestled among tall trees, their ceremony spot was naturally stunning. To enhance it, they lined the aisle with vibrant flowers, leading to a beautiful altar adorned with floral pillars and a cozy loveseat. Later, they created a sophisticated atmosphere at the reception, with all-white tables decorated with delicate centerpieces, elegant table settings, and soft candlelight, setting the stage for a truly romantic evening.

If understated, sophisticated, and elevated sounds like your dream aesthetic, draw inspiration from these stunning photos captured by Junebug vendor and photographers People Truelove Tellers.

The Couple:

Elena and Roberto

The Wedding:

Masía Aldamar, Chiva, Valencia, Spain

Choosing Minimalist-Romantic Vibes for Their Masía Aldamar Wedding

We opted for a minimalist-romantic design that fit with the Mediterranean and relaxed vibe of the venue. We wanted every detail to convey elegance, sensitivity, and movement to give the day a magical aura and wanted each element to have meaning to us within the wedding narrative. I photographed a wedding there as a photographer and saw the possibilities of the space. I fell in love with its clean, Mediterranean details and the flexibility of Plan A, B, or Z.  When Roberto saw it on the visit, he also fell in love, so we didn’t have to look anymore. It was our first and only choice.

How the Bride Honored Family Legacy Through Her Reception Dress

I was clear about what I wanted for my wedding dress: a boat neck neckline, simple and elegant, without any embroidery or lace. I wanted a fabric that felt nice and didn’t wrinkle much, with a subtle detail for movement. When I found the dress in the store, it wasn’t flashy or impressive, but it felt like me. I knew I’d enjoy wearing it like it was made just for me. As for the second dress, which we redesigned for the party, it had a special meaning. It was the wedding dress my mother wore 35 years ago in 1989, which my grandmother had designed and hand-embroidered. I discussed with my family the idea of altering it to fit my figure so I could wear it for the wedding dance as a surprise for everyone. They all loved the idea, and it was beautiful to share this secret with them during the wedding preparations. Seeing the excited faces of my parents, aunts, and loved ones at that moment was priceless.

The Unforeseen Value of Hiring a Wedding Planner

If you can, have a wedding planner help you with it. You don’t understand the value of their work until you are a few months away from the wedding, and the tasks and tension increase by the moment. For us, having the help of Ensálzate was essential for the day to turn out as incredible as it did. It certainly made a difference that we could never have achieved alone.

Striking Wedding Budget Balance Through Smart Spending

We set aside money for most of our wedding expenses, except for the banquet, which we planned to cover with gifts from our guests. Our overall budget turned out as expected. We may have spent a bit more ensuring everything was perfect, but we’re delighted with how it turned out. Our wedding day was extraordinary, and we believe it’s worth saving extra for because the memories will last a lifetime. We ended up spending around €35,000 – €40,000. We saved money by skipping live music groups but treated ourselves by splurging on a tower of champagne glasses.

Crafting the Perfect Floral Scheme for Their Masía Aldamar Wedding by Collaborating with the Experts

The color scheme for the flowers and details was clear to me. I met with the wedding planner and the florist to discuss the available flower options for the wedding date, ensuring it would be within our budget. Together, we designed how to decorate the space. We also visited the venue to see how to bring these ideas to life and chose between two options. Their advice and vision were crucial in making the final result successful on the big day.

The Symbolism Behind Their  Masía Aldamar Wedding Favors

Inspired by my father’s suggestion, we decided to give the men a bottle of wine. It was our way of symbolizing the continuation of celebrating good times together. For the women, we chose pendants with the symbol of the Tree of Life, a suggestion from my mother-in-law. This symbolized the roots and fruits of life, signifying the special moments we share on a day as significant as our wedding.

Adding Personal Flair: From Paper Masks to Personalized Urns

We embraced DIY projects for our wedding, adding personal touches to make the day even more special. One of our creations was an urn placed at the reception, inviting guests to share their wishes for us as a couple. Each table featured envelopes containing an “Anti-Hangover Kit,” a fun and thoughtful gesture for our guests. Our loved ones also contributed surprise gifts, adding to the warmth and joy of the celebration. Additionally, we crafted paper masks that became a hit at the party, adding an element of fun and playfulness to the festivities. These DIY endeavors added a unique and personal flair to our wedding, making it truly unforgettable for everyone involved.

13+ Garden Wedding Ideas For Your Outdoor Celebration

March 18, 2024 | kailey

Image by Joel and Justyna. See more of this real wedding here.

Outdoor garden-themed weddings are elegant and whimsical. With lush greenery, seasonal blooms, vibrant color palettes, and thoughtfully planned decor, we’ve seen couples transform ordinary spaces into the ultimate secret garden oasis. If you find yourself admiring romantic floral-filled weddings like this on Instagram or Pinterest and wondering how they pulled it off, you’ve come to the right place.

From ceremony decor to subtle reception details and even themed favors, we’ve created a list of our favorite garden wedding ideas you can share with your trusted vendors. With these inspiring ideas, your dream of hosting an enchanted garden affair will become a reality.

Pick a Fitting Theme

While it’s not necessary, incorporating a theme into your wedding can enhance the overall experience in several ways. It offers aesthetic benefits and provides guidance when it comes time to select your color palette, decor, and more. Having a clear vision of your wedding design allows you to make better decisions throughout the planning process, ensuring that every detail aligns with your desired theme.

In need of some garden wedding theme ideas? Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Quintessential English garden tea party
  • Rustic garden romance
  • Enchanted fairytale
  • Butterfly garden wedding
  • A luxurious boho garden theme
  • Tropical oasis garden getaway

Prioritize a Venue with Stunning Existing Outdoor Space

Choosing the right venue is crucial when planning an outdoor garden wedding. Since the natural surroundings will play a major role in the overall wedding ambiance, it’s essential to select a venue with a stunning existing space.

When touring potential venues, look for gardens with lush greenery and picturesque backdrops. This not only sets the stage for your celebration but also makes the job easier for you and your vendors. With a beautiful setting, you’ll need less decor to enhance the space, saving time and money. Plus, the backdrop will create some breathtaking photos that will preserve the magic of your big day.

Consider an Intimate Greenhouse Wedding

In the early stages of planning your garden celebration, it’s natural to envision a sunny outdoor wedding. However, it’s important to remember that there are numerous ways to create a romantic wedding in a garden setting. One of our favorite options, especially for intimate weddings, is hosting your event in a greenhouse.

A greenhouse is a charming blend of rustic and romantic, providing a unique backdrop for your special day. This option is also ideal for couples in areas with unpredictable weather, ensuring a beautiful garden wedding regardless of the weather conditions.

Add Floral Details to Signage

While wedding signage serves a practical purpose, it doesn’t have to be boring. With some color, customization, and flowers, your signage can be much more than just functional. From welcome signs to seating charts, each piece of signage can become eye-catching decor that adds to the overall ambiance of your celebration.

Incorporate Vibrant Hues and Pastels into Your Color Palette

The colors you select for your wedding play an important role in setting the tone for your special day. Whether you’re aiming for a bold, vibrant palette or a softer, pastel one, embracing color is key to bringing your outdoor garden to life.

Going bold is sure to add that extra pop of personality that’ll leave a lasting impression on your guests. Sticking with the subtlety of pastels exudes romance and creates a soft ambiance. Regardless of the color palette you choose, don’t be afraid to embrace color.

Have Your Wedding Party Wear Florals

Floral fashion has been taking the wedding world by storm, and this is great news for those planning an outdoor garden celebration in spring or summer. Adding floral attire and accessories is a subtle touch guaranteed to enhance your wedding day look.

For your bridesmaids, have them mix and match floral bridesmaid dresses. As for the groomsmen, accessories will be key. They can play around with floral ties, bowties, pocket squares, socks, and even boutonnieres. These floral accents add personality and will contribute to the overall floral theme of the wedding.

Use Petals to Enhance the Space

You’re dedicating so much of your time and energy to designing large floral installations. While these staple pieces will be a stunning addition, it’s equally important not to overlook the smaller details when discussing your floral vision with your florist. Consider incorporating extra petals to elevate your wedding space in a subtle yet show-stopping way.

You can scatter petals along the ceremony aisle to add a touch of romance or swap the traditional confetti for floral petals during your grand exit. The creative possibilities for using petals to enhance your garden soiree are endless.

Ceremony Fan Favors

Wedding favors are a thoughtful way to thank your guests for being part of your special day. Unfortunately, favors tend to be leftovers and forgotten by many guests. So, choose something practical and useful if you’re set on thanking loved ones with a gift. For an outdoor celebration during the summer months, custom fans make an excellent choice.

They keep your guests cool and comfortable and serve as a keepsake guests can take home after your wedding day. We love practical and stylish favors, and your guests will too.

Include a Floral Ceremony Backdrop

Your ceremony backdrop sets the stage for one of the most important moments of your wedding day—the exchange of vows. For those planning a garden wedding, you can get creative with a stunning arch adorned with flowers, lush greenery, or a combination of both.

Don’t know where to start? Hire a trusted florist! They will help bring your vision to life. They can guide you in selecting the perfect blooms that complement each other and serve as the focal point for your ceremony.

Make a Statement with Hanging Floral Installations

While it’s tempting to stick to ideas you’ve seen on Pinterest, it’s important to think outside the box. When it comes to your decor, don’t forget to consider unique and unexpected details like hanging floral chandeliers. Hanging floral installations may not be considered “traditional,” but they can be truly memorable when executed thoughtfully.

Garden Wedding Ideas: Top Your Cake with Flowers

There’s one thing that can make your wedding cake even sweeter: flowers. Whether you’re envisioning real blooms that match your decor, icing flowers, or a vibrant pressed flower design, adding this touch will surely give your traditional wedding cake some extra pizzazz.

Garden-Inspired Dinnerware and Linens

As we’ve said before, functional wedding details can be transformed into stunning decor details that enhance the overall day. When it comes to your tablescape specifically, switching traditional white dinnerware for floral-printed plates is an easy way to add an extra floral touch and a pop of color to each place setting.

You can also incorporate floral linens to further enhance the garden feel of your reception tables. These smaller details help create a cohesive reception design that complements the garden theme.

Finish Cocktails with Floral Garnishes

When crafting custom cocktails, go all out. From the recipe to the bar menu and even the garnishes, ensure every detail authentically represents your love and wedding theme. For those hosting a garden wedding, consider adding delicate blooms as the perfect finishing touch to your cocktails.

Now that you’ve gathered all your garden wedding ideas, there’s just one thing you’re missing—a trusted team of wedding vendors to bring it all to life.  A trusted team of wedding professionals can truly make all the difference in bringing your garden wedding vision to life. Colorful Backyard Picnic Inspired No Vacancy Wedding

March 17, 2024 | justine

When Riley and Mark were planning their wedding, they aimed for something special: the same cozy vibe they cherish during their friend get-togethers. They loved the thought of a backyard picnic, with all its mismatched chairs, vibrant decor, and lots of candles. And guess what? They pulled it off! Their picnic inspired No Vacancy wedding struck just the right balance between classy and fun. By day, it was a stunning affair, but when evening fell, it transformed into an epic bash, complete with unlimited drinks and shots for all to revel in.

The couple couldn’t have picked a better spot to bring their vision to life. The hotel’s unique interior perfectly matched their style. And when they stepped into the outdoor courtyard, they found themselves surrounded by even more charm. Against the vibrant mountain mural, they shared their heartfelt vows. Then, after the ceremony, they gathered around a beautifully set table adorned with garden florals, golden accents, and antique touches, all illuminated by the gentle flicker of candlelight.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a cozy celebration surrounded only by your closest loved ones, let this event be your inspiration. Take a look through these stunning images captured by MK Zach Photography to see exactly what we mean.

Turning Their Party House Vibe Into a Picnic Inspired No Vacancy Wedding

When planning our wedding, it was really important that the day felt uniquely ours. We had been together six years by the time we got married (engaged for two), and we felt like people expected a lot from us when it came to the actual day. My husband and I have the “party house” of our friend group. We’re always the first to throw a pregame, a game day, or a themed party. We love doing that because we always have a blast. I enjoy hosting—setting out food, making a unique cocktail, hanging up decorations—even if it’s just for something silly like the Kentucky Derby or a 26th birthday party. So when it came time to plan our wedding, I knew I wanted the same sort of vibe that we capture when we have friends over. The “backyard picnic” aesthetic inspired me–mismatched chairs and place settings, pops of color, lots of candles, that sort of thing. With that aesthetic, we knew we could have a good balance of a beautiful formal event and an insane party with bottomless drinks and shots once the sun went down and our grandparents went to bed.

How the Bride’s Brother’s Unexpected Role as Officiant Turned Their Ceremony Into a Touching and Hilarious Special Moment

My little brother officiated our wedding. We’re both very close to our families and knew from the beginning of our planning process that we wanted to find a way to involve them as much as possible, given our wedding was so small. My brother is a natural public speaker (high school teacher and former minor league WWE wrestler), and he killed it. We gave him no guardrails about what we wanted, and he managed to create a ceremony that had everyone crying—from both laughter and because it was so moving.

Breaking Tradition: Why Your Wedding Should Reflect You, Not Others

Here’s some advice for couples navigating the wedding planning process: prioritize yourselves above all else. Don’t let the expectations of others or traditional norms dictate your day. Making decisions that authentically reflect your relationship and desires is key—you won’t regret it. Remember, amidst the whirlwind of planning, it’s normal to feel consumed by wedding details, but trust that this phase will pass. Stay true to yourselves and cherish every moment of this journey. We wanted the day to feel like a big party. We didn’t necessarily want it to feel like a “wedding,” more of a “celebration of love.” I wanted the whole night to have a picnic, family-style dinner feeling. I kept repeating to vendors and friends that I wanted “an all-night party.”

Working with Local Vendors Who Shared Their Vision to Bring to Life Their Picnic Inspired No Vacancy Wedding

For the most part, my husband and I planned our wedding by ourselves, with my mom’s help (which I will forever be grateful for). Weddings are a numbers game. Anyone who has planned a wedding or been in one knows that it’s all about money. So when we started planning, we knew we didn’t want to work with big vendors who do 50+ weddings a season. It was essential for us to work with smaller local vendors who understood our vision and who genuinely were interested in being a part of our day. That reflects a lot in their work—whether the flowers, table settings, cake, or catering. Our vendors were great, and we could not have had a better team of people around us.

From Wedding Logo to Home Decor

I don’t know if I would call it a DIY per se, but we had a custom neon sign of our wedding logo, the tiger in the martini glass, made. It was easily the centerpiece of our reception, and now it hangs above our home bar, making for a perfect wedding day favor for us. The tiger in the martini glass logo was on our wedding stationery, including our matchbook favors. It was designed by East + West Designs, who did all of our paper. She did such a lovely job. The inspo I gave her behind it was “a doodle you would do on a bar napkin.” It pays homage to how we met: at the University of Missouri (Mizzou, home of the Tigers! M-I-Z), where we both graduated from. It’s one of my favorite things we made for the wedding, and I will probably talk to people about it forever.

This Roberts Regional Recreation Area Wedding Was Inspired By Chinese Culture & the Couple’s Love for Vegas

March 14, 2024 | justine

Jen and Mariah’s Roberts Regional Recreation Area wedding was a dazzling celebration of their love and heritage. From the radiant mix of pinks and reds reminiscent of a Vegas sunset to the playful Chinese lanterns dancing in the breeze, every detail paid homage to their adoration for Chinese culture, Vegas, and their queer identity. It was a joyous occasion where love, diversity, and culture intertwined beautifully. It was vibrant and bold, creating unforgettable moments for all who attended.

Surrounded by tall Redwood trees, the outdoor ceremony was a sight to behold. Lanterns, ribbons, and colorful blooms added brightness to the setting, making it feel extra special. After the ceremony, everyone gathered for the festivities. One of the best parts was a bright neon sign that said, “Everyone is Gay,” like the ones you see in Las Vegas. It was a fun way to celebrate love and diversity.

As if the décor wasn’t enough, wait until you see their attire! Mariah looked radiant in a sparkling dress, while Jen took their style to the next level with a bold maroon suit that turned heads. Later, they both changed into striking red traditional attire for the reception, adding even more elegance to the occasion. If you’re seeking inspiration on how to pull off an out-of-the-box celebration that also pays tribute to your heritage, keep scrolling. Junebug member Vivian Chen has expertly captured every detail and more, preserving the enchantment of this truly unique celebration.

The Couple:

Jen and Mariah

The Wedding:

Roberts Regional Recreation Area, California, United States

How Their Roberts Regional Recreation Area Wedding Came To Be

Our wedding aesthetic evolved through a thorough planning journey where we sought design inspiration and scouted venues. Settling on a reception venue with a bold terracotta-colored wall, we embraced Mariah’s love of pink. Her dream of wearing a sparkling dress and Jen’s vision of a maroon suit further set the tone. Being of Taiwanese descent, Jen’s heritage inspired us to integrate Chinese accents into the design, resulting in a vibrant fusion of pinks and reds. Chinese lanterns, ribbons, fabrics, and florals added pops of color, weaving cultural richness into the celebration. To pay homage to our love for Vegas and as a celebration of our queer identity, we designed a custom neon sign that says “Everyone is Gay” inspired by the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. Our wedding was ultimately a collection of our personal passions, cultural influences, and cherished memories.

Embracing Authenticity and Honoring Their Values

Contrary to the outdated notion that a wedding is primarily for others, we take pride that we were able to remain true to ourselves throughout the entire process. We planned the day that was most meaningful to us, staying authentic to our desires and values. Selecting standout memories from the day is challenging as every moment holds significance. However, our vow exchange and the heartfelt toasts from our loved ones were highlights. These moments affirmed our decision to share this day with each other and our community.

Trusting Instincts: Letting Go of the “Perfect Day

Release the notion of the “perfect day” and rely on your instincts. Embrace your decisions with enthusiasm without constantly doubting if they are the “right” choices. While we personally organized the entire wedding, we eventually opted to enlist a day-of coordinator for assistance with the execution. Doing these two things was invaluable to our process. They allowed us to conserve energy while planning and be fully engaged in the unfolding of the day.

The Story of Their DIY Wedding Decor

We custom-designed rainbow suncatcher stickers featuring one of our favorite flowers, the pincushion protea, as a fun and interactive representation of ourselves. It brings us joy to receive photos of rainbows casting their vibrant hues into our guests’ homes, knowing that they’ll be reminded of us whenever they catch a glimpse. We DIYed all of the stationary and decorations for our wedding, including all of our florals. A few days prior, we went to the local flower market, handpicked an assortment of blooms, and crammed them into our Subaru to store at home. The night before the wedding, we hosted a “flower prep pizza party,” where friends and family gathered to assist in cutting and designing all of the florals, except for our bouquets, which we designed ourselves. A special shout-out goes to our friend Jas, who took the lead in designing several of the larger centerpieces and aisle vases.

How to Have a “Girls Gone Mild” Low-Key Bachelorette Party

March 13, 2024 | kailey

Image by Lite Weddings. See more of this real wedding here.

When you picture a bachelorette party, odds are you think of crazy nights out and a lot of drinking. While that will be the ideal weekend for some, that’s not the case for all. So, if you find yourself dreaming of a low-key bachelorette party, we have some good news: a laidback bachelorette party is absolutely doable, and it can be just as enjoyable as those wild traditional celebrations.

In fact, a lowkey bachelorette party is a great way to celebrate the bride-to-be in a more intimate way. Think spa days, wine tastings, movie nights, and more. We’ve rounded up all our favorite ideas for those wanting to pull off a “girls gone mild” bachelorette party.

13 Low Key Bachelorette Party Ideas

1. Relaxing Spa Weekend Getaway

For the ultimate relaxing bachelorette party, consider a spa weekend getaway. Reserve a room at an enchanting resort that has an onsite spa, andtreat yourself to a day or two of pampering with massages and facials, and time in the saunas or hot tubs. It’s the perfect way to unwind and celebrate before the big day.

2. Schedule a Wine Tasting

If you’re hoping to have a destination bachelorette party while still keeping things lowkey, consider escaping to wine country for an entire weekend of delicious foods and drinks. Alternatively, you can opt for a local day trip to your favorite local winery. Either way, this is the perfect option for laidback brides who still want to enjoy the occasional drink or two. Arrange a private tour and tasting experience so you can spend the day (or weekend) sipping on some delicious crafted wines with your best friends.

3. Cozy Movie Night Under the Stars

Film buffs, this low key bachelorette party idea is for you. Transform your backyard or Airbnb into an outdoor cinema with a projector for a movie under the stars. You can also create a cozy theater in the living room. Either way, this won’t be just any ordinary movie night. We envision matching pajamas, themed snacks, and a lineup of wedding-themed movies.

4. Yoga Retreat

Following months of hectic wedding planning, a yoga retreat with your closest friends could be just what you need. Pack your yoga gear and matching workout sets for the ultimate retreat experience—a truly low key bachelorette party idea. It’s a wholesome way to de-stress while also celebrating the special bride-to-be. You’ll be able to clear your mind and get fully into the wedding mindset.
