Kingsley Leather

From the brand: What inspired me to take up leatherworking in particular was that I have always admired leather goods and how they gain character as they age, think old leather suitcases and satchels etc. However the cheap mass-produced imports never seemed to last as long as I expected – I was changing my wallet every 6 months for example! I decided that I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone: create the quality leather goods that I desired for myself and pursue a new non-computer based hobby.

After a couple of months of practicing, my work began to get noticed by friends and family and this led to my first set of ‘commissions’. After creating a leather satchel for my girlfriend, a wallet for my brother, and plenty of belts, I soon decided to begin accepting orders from the wider (and paying!) public. I now run Kingsley Leather full-time and have never looked back – follow me as my journey continues.

Our vision is to create beautiful jewelry that quietly listens to modern trends but more importantly, feels classic and is well-made to become future heirlooms.

OMA The Label

From the brand: OMA the label is a brand focused on challenging homogenous industry standards, while creating quality and affordable pieces for the everyday woman.

The brand was created by Neumi Anekhe, a new york based fashion stylist that started the brand in 2018, because she saw a need for more brands representing people of color. She wanted to help diversify the markets, change the imagery and predominant representation that we see in fashion today.

OMA the label, creates pieces for the woman that is intentional about the choices she makes and wants to wear pieces that make her feel empowered and confident.

Chloe Ainsley Creative

From the brand: Chloe Ainsley Creative is a modern, design studio based in Kent. All artwork is designed and hand finished by me. The Studio was birthed out of my love of being experimental and desire to break out of the mould of working within the confines of a set of brand guidelines every now and again! My passion lies in abstract art and the narratives that can be created through the use of layers, colours, shapes, textures and patterns.

KNC Beauty

From the brand: Kristen Noel Crawley was strolling through Don Quijote in Tokyo, when….BAM, love at first sight. A wall of lip masks caught her eye, and she became OBSESSED with the idea of perfect, kissable lips. When she discovered there were no natural lip masks on the market, the solution was obvious: she had to create her own. Two years and countless trials later, Kristen created the first all-natural, collagen-infused lip mask.

Beauty Bakerie

From the brand: A near-death experience taught me that nothing is more important in this life than the moments that are gone too fast. Having long-lasting, smudge-free makeup may seem like a simple novelty to one person, but to me, the 8-15 times I would have spent touching up my makeup today are now the 8-15 opportunities I have to be in the moment. There is no more conflict about kissing my loved one or protecting the 55 minutes of makeup I worked on. I don’t have to choose any longer between my looks and the precious moments that pass us by. I can have my cake and eat it too.

Second Wedding Tips and Ideas

November 26, 2022 | justine

While you probably didn’t expect to find yourself planning a wedding for the second time, getting another chance at love is incredibly special. It’s a new chapter and a fresh start to happiness. And not only that, second weddings are unique in the sense that you’re older, wiser, and more empowered to plan a special day that’s focused on what’s right for you.

Because not everyone gets to have a wedding do-over, a second wedding can be a wonderful opportunity to create an event that’s unique to you and your partner. So if you’re planning to say “I do” (take two), here are second wedding ideas and tips on making your celebration just as beautiful–or even better–than the first.

Second Wedding Tips And Ideas

Focus On Beautifully Blending Your Family

Marrying your new partner often means forming a beautiful new blended family. You’re not just getting married and perhaps gaining bonus children or bringing a new spouse into your life. Your children are gaining a whole new family through your marriage. Making them feel like they’re part of the decision-making process is a great way to start things off on the right foot. And it’s a great way to make your wedding extra special and personal.

Incorporate Family Members In Meaningful Ways

Your second big day is a chance to include your current and new family members. And your children are some of the most important family members to consider. There are many ways to have them participate in the ceremony—from including them in the wedding party or sharing readings to even walking you down the aisle. Another great way to welcome all of the children into your new family unit is to include them in your vows or with a symbolic unity ritual.

Honoring Late Loved Ones

If you or your partner want to celebrate the memory of a late spouse, there are many beautiful ways to honor them. From simple words of remembrance, reading a favorite poem or passage, displaying photos, or asking someone close to you to say a few words in your late loved one’s honor—don’t be afraid to include their memory.

Break From Tradition And Include What Feels Right

Set this wedding apart from the last one by injecting more personality and flair into the festivities. Go for the unique venue, host a daytime wedding, have a food truck reception, or book over-the-top entertainment. But of course, if you’d prefer everything to be more traditional, that’s okay too. Include the traditions that feel meaningful to you, skip the rest, or create new ones. That choice is totally yours and your partner’s. Feel free to mix things up.

Consider A Romantic Getaway

If your last wedding was at a local venue, you might feel more comfortable having a destination wedding. This can be a great way to distance yourself literally to avoid comparing the previous wedding with your current one. The best thing about a destination wedding is the relaxed and laid-back atmosphere because everyone is on vacation. Now that you’re blending families, what better way to form bonding moments than in a setting where your loved ones have the freedom to enjoy themselves?

Get Married At Home

If a low-key and intimate affair is more your style, having a backyard wedding is a sentimental way to celebrate your and your partner’s love out of the comfort of your own home. There’s just something so special about exchanging heartfelt vows in the same setting where you’ve experienced some of life’s most significant moments.

Throw An Epic Surprise Wedding

Inviting your friends and family to a surprise wedding is certainly a fun and exciting alternative for couples who want to avoid all the unnecessary fuss and get right ahead to the main affair. You can pull off a surprise wedding by inviting your guests to another large event they wouldn’t want to miss, like an engagement party or a milestone birthday.

Wear What Feels Right For You And Your Partner

Now is the time to wear whatever you like, whether that’s a dramatic black ball gown or a dashing pink suit paired with a bolo tie. The fashion possibilities are endless! Have fun with your shoes and accessories, and encourage your loved ones to do the same. You’re starting a new chapter of your life, and both of you should do it authentically, so wear what feels right for you.

Prepare For Hard Or Overwhelming Times

A second wedding means that you have a beautiful second chance at love. But to get to where you are now, something deeply painful had to happen. And even though you’re very happy and in love, the planning process may bring up some painful memories. And on top of that, there may also be delicate family dynamics that come into play. So it’s best to prepare yourself for challenging times and overwhelming emotions and surround yourself with people who love and support you. And if needed, seek out counseling from professionals. All these feelings are normal, so be kind to yourself and your partner as you navigate through them.

Like any wedding, a second wedding is special and unique. There’s no need to tone down your shine just because you tied the knot before. You don’t have to take a discrete or subtle approach to the festivities or consider any traditions off-limits. Having a second wedding doesn’t mean it needs to be any less celebrated, and it deserves to be just as beautiful and magical as the second chance that led you to each other.

Colorful Surprise Backyard Wedding

September 17, 2022 | justine

Meg and Vinee love to do things differently. And when it came to planning their wedding, ditching tradition and putting their own spin on things came naturally. To kick off their wedding day in a creative way, the pair invited their closest loved ones to a “surprise proposal party.” Only when their guests showed up, they found themselves at a surprise backyard wedding instead. It was an exciting and beautiful affair, and the couple pulled it off fabulously! Besides the surprise element, their big day featured a boho-chic aesthetic—from the stunning florals and decor in dreamy tones to the laid-back and ethereal wedding fashion.

The lovebirds kicked off their day with private emotional vows, sitting on their front porch and crying their eyes out. They then shared the same heartfelt promises at their poolside sunset ceremony that followed. Their talented vendors transformed their beloved friends’ backyard with elegant wood furnishings, Moroccan-style rugs, and spectacular arrangements of fresh blooms and dried foliage. Balloon installations were a fun touch, while the string lights and star lanterns amped up the romance.

On top of everything else, the couple kept the vibe carefree and chic with their wedding attire. The barefoot bride stunned in her bandeau top and skirt duo with statement sleeves.  Meanwhile, the groom was stylishly cool in his tan-colored suit. And true to form, they ended the day in an epic way by literally taking the plunge in their wedding garb. If Meg and Vinee’s surprise soiree sounds thrilling, scroll through these beautiful photographs captured by Junebug member J. Olson Weddings. This backyard wedding is packed with inspiration to pull off a memorable surprise celebration.

The Couple:

Meg + Vinee

The Wedding:

Bentonville, Arkansas

A Gifted Maple Tree To Grow With Their Marriage

I have an extreme propensity for trees, and spending time outdoors is a big way we connect. Vinee bought us a marriage maple tree to plant in our yard to grow and change in our continued seasons with us. I cried when he showed it to me. It felt so meaningful and perfect. We have big plans to plant a tree for each of our children, too. I had also gifted Vinee a travel journal to track our road trips in our first year of dating. I forgot about it, but Vinee kept it and continued to log every trip. He gave me this written history of our time together on our wedding day. I cried at that, too.

Getting Ready Together And Sharing Private Vows Were The Most Memorable Moments

We both make sense of things through words, and as I was writing my vows, it felt so inauthentic to read these to Vinee in front of everyone. So, we opted first to share our vows privately, sitting on our porch. This was my favorite part of the day. In true form, Vinee wrote the most beautiful and precise vows in a paragraph or two, and I went on for several pages. We both cried our eyes out. It’s exactly what we needed it to be, to first share those words with each other and then again later in the ceremony with the love and support of our people.

Personalizing Their Wedding With A Unique Unity Ceremony And Meaningful Wedding Favors

I love creating and giving gifts, so this was a fun one for me. We called these the “Bird by Bird” boxes, pointing to our favorite phrase by Anne Lamott and our unity ceremony that included the threading together of origami birds. At each place setting, our guests had a box with their own disposable camera to document the night, a bottle of our favorite hot sauce, a cocktail kit to create a “Hummingbird,” and a Spotify playlist Vinee created of songs significant to our relationship.

Proud Of Having Pulled Off A Surprise Backyard Wedding

We knew that it would be fun and meaningful no matter what, but pulling off the surprise itself was pretty incredible. We’re proud of ourselves for keeping each other centered and doing things our way. We picked up every piece of a traditional wedding, examined it, and asked ourselves if it was what we needed. We kept what served us and omitted what didn’t, creating a truly authentic day meant for us and no one else

Advice From The Newlyweds: Remember It’s Your Special Day

If you’re planning a wedding, remember that it’s your day and no one else’s. Figure out what’s important to you, start there, and make all decisions accordingly. For us, the priorities were the ceremony, the photos, the songs, the poems, and the small guest list. Lastly, time flies by so fast, so savor each moment

12 Romantic Love Poems to Read at Your Wedding Ceremony

August 28, 2022 | juliette

Image by Rylee & Co. Keep scrolling for romantic love poems for your wedding ceremony

While we do love unexpected wedding ceremony readings, we have to admit that our hearts still skip a beat when we hear romantic love poems read during a ceremony. Where words fail, poetry says it all. These 12 romantic love poems would be perfect for any wedding ceremony. From modern poets to the classic greats, these poets found a way to express what everyone wants to say on the most special day of their lives.

12 Romantic Love Poems For Your Wedding Ceremony

Our Souls Are Mirrors by Rupi Kaur

god must have kneaded you and i
from the same dough
rolled us out as one on the baking sheet
must have suddenly realized
how unfair it was
to put that much magic in one person
and sadly split that dough in two
how else is it that
when i look in the mirror
i am looking at you
when you breathe
my own lungs fill with air
that we just met but we
have known each other our whole lives
if we were not made as one to begin with

To Love is Not to Possess by James Kavanaugh

To love is not to possess,
To own or imprison,
Nor to lose one’s self in another.
Love is to join and separate,
To walk alone and together,
To find a laughing freedom
That lonely isolation does not permit.
It is finally to be able
To be who we really are
No longer clinging in childish dependency
Nor docilely living separate lives in silence,
It is to be perfectly one’s self
And perfectly joined in permanent commitment
To another–and to one’s inner self.
Love only endures when it moves like waves,
Receding and returning gently or passionately,
Or moving lovingly like the tide
In the moon’s own predictable harmony,
Because finally, despite a child’s scars
Or an adult’s deepest wounds,
They are openly free to be
Who they really are–and always secretly were,
In the very core of their being
Where true and lasting love can alone abide.

The Earth Turned to Bring Us Closer by Eugenio Montejo

The earth turned to bring us closer,
it spun on itself and within us,
and finally joined us together in this dream
as written in the Symposium.
Nights passed by, snowfalls and solstices;
time passed in minutes and millennia.
An ox cart that was on its way to Nineveh
arrived in Nebraska.
A rooster was singing some distance from the world,
in one of the thousand pre-lives of our fathers.
The earth was spinning with its music carrying us on board;
it didn’t stop turning a single moment
as if so much love, so much that’s miraculous
was only an Adagio written long ago
in the Symposium’s score.

I’ll Be There For You by Louise Cuddon

I’ll be there my darling, through thick and through thin
When your mind’s in a mess and your head’s in a spin
When your plane’s been delayed, and you’ve missed the last train.
When life is just threatening to drive you insane
When your thrilling whodunit has lost its last page
When somebody tells you, you’re looking your age
When your coffee’s too cool, and your wine is too warm
When the forecast said “Fine”, but you’re out in a storm
When your quick break hotel, turns into a slum
And your holiday photos show only your thumb
When you park for five minutes in a resident’s bay
And return to discover you’ve been towed away
When the jeans that you bought in hope or in haste
Just stick on your hips and don’t reach round your waist
When the food you most like brings you out in red rashes
When as soon as you boot up the bloody thing crashes
So my darling, my sweetheart, my dear…
When you break a rule, when you act the fool
When you’ve got the flu, when you’re in a stew
When you’re last in the queue, don’t feel blue’cause
I’m telling you, I’ll be there.

Variations On The Word Love by Margaret Atwood

This is a word we use to plug
holes with. It’s the right size for those warm
blanks in speech, for those red heart-
shaped vacancies on the page that look nothing
like real hearts. Add lace
and you can sell
it. We insert it also in the one empty
space on the printed form
that comes with no instructions. There are whole
magazines with not much in them
but the word love, you can
rub it all over your body and you
can cook with it too. How do we know
it isn’t what goes on at the cool
debaucheries of slugs under damp
pieces of cardboard? As for the weed-
seedlings nosing their tough snouts up
among the lettuces, they shout it.
Love! Love! sing the soldiers, raising
their glittering knives in salute.

Then there’s the two
of us. This word
is far too short for us, it has only
four letters, too sparse
to fill those deep bare
vacuums between the stars
that press on us with their deafness.
It’s not love we don’t wish
to fall into, but that fear.
This word is not enough but it will
have to do. It’s a single
vowel in this metallic
silence, a mouth that says
O again and again in wonder
and pain, a breath, a finger
grip on a cliffside. You can
hold on or let go.

Roads Go Ever Ever On by J.R.R Tolkien

Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.
Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.

Touched By an Angel by Maya Angelou

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Love Song by Henry Dumas

Beloved,
I have to adore the earth:

The wind must have heard
your voice once.
It echoes and sings like you.

The soil must have tasted
you once.
It is laden with your scent.

The trees honor you
in gold
and blush when you pass.

I know why the north country
is frozen.
It has been trying to preserve
your memory.

I know why the desert
burns with fever.
It was wept too long without you.

On hands and knees,
the ocean begs up the beach,
and falls at your feet.

I have to adore
the mirror of the earth.
You have taught her well
how to be beautiful.

The Passionate Shephard to His Love by Christopher Marlowe

Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove,
That Valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
Woods, or steepy mountain yields.

And we will sit upon the Rocks,
Seeing the Shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow Rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing Madrigals.

And I will make thee beds of Roses
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroidered all with leaves of Myrtle;

A gown made of the finest wool
Which from our pretty Lambs we pull;
Fair lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold;

A belt of straw and Ivy buds,
With Coral clasps and Amber studs:
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me, and be my love.

The Shepherds’ Swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May-morning:
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me, and be my love.

Unending Love by Rabindranath Tagore

I seem to have loved you in numberless forms, numberless times…
In life after life, in age after age, forever.
My spellbound heart has made and remade the necklace of songs,
That you take as a gift, wear round your neck in your many forms,
In life after life, in age after age, forever.

Whenever I hear old chronicles of love, its age-old pain,
Its ancient tale of being apart or together.
As I stare on and on into the past, in the end you emerge,
Clad in the light of a pole-star piercing the darkness of time:
You become an image of what is remembered forever.

You and I have floated here on the stream that brings from the fount.
At the heart of time, love of one for another.
We have played along side millions of lovers, shared in the same
Shy sweetness of meeting, the same distressful tears of farewell-
Old love but in shapes that renew and renew forever.

Today it is heaped at your feet, it has found its end in you
The love of all man’s days both past and forever:
Universal joy, universal sorrow, universal life.
The memories of all loves merging with this one love of ours –
And the songs of every poet past and forever.

I Carry Your Heart With Me by e.e. cummings

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Soneto 17 by Pablo Neruda

Sonnet 17 by Pablo Neruda (translated by Stephen Tapscott)

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

After Love Poems

We adore these love poems to read at wedding ceremonies. Whether they are used it in lieu of more traditional pieces of the ceremony, read by a close friend or relative, or even read from one of you to the other, these love poems have a way of touching our hearts more closely than we know—especially the moment before “I do.”

While you’re working on your wedding ceremony, here are a few more sentimental unity ceremony ideas we’ve collected. Of course, once those are complete, you’ll need the perfect recessional song to walk back down the aisle.

Intimate Oregon Wedding Among the Trees

May 4, 2022 | riley

Hayley and Gabby originally wanted to elope with just the two of them, an officiant, and their photographer. But once word got out, their friends and family wanted to join them on the happiest moment of their lives. So the couple planned a slightly bigger celebration to include their closest loved ones. With a great love for travel and the outdoors, their intimate Oregon wedding among the trees was the perfect magical setting for their big day.

Tucked away in the middle of an enchanting forest, their ceremony on the Redwood Deck featured a statement triangle arch, dreamy florals by Songbird Floral Designs, and glowing lamps. The couple said their “I dos” under towering trees with gorgeous light coming through. They brought the romantic boho woodland vibe into their cozy Opal 28 reception with an eye-catching macrame backdrop, tablescapes full of greenery, and gilded details.

With the help of their planner Keen Events, the two brides were able to pull off an unforgettable celebration, all beautifully captured by Dionne Kraus Photography. Scroll through to learn more about their wedding journey—there’s more than meets the eye. Despite the hurdles, this wedding is proof that love truly conquers all.

Dionne Kraus Photography’s Thoughts On This Intimate Oregon Wedding

I came home from this wedding so teary. I didn’t know beforehand, but some members of the family didn’t RSVP because they didn’t support the marriage. On the day of, they decided to come last minute and even participated although they were pretty quiet and reserved for the most part. Some of my last photos of the night during the dance party were of the family embracing their bride and crying with their now married daughter.

The peacefulness and acceptance will forever stay with me. The power of that moment was tangible, and I don’t think there was anyone in that room not crying. When the song ended, they danced with their daughter’s new wife. The happiness showed as they held the woman who loved their little girl, I just can’t put into words.

7 Cool And Casual Wedding Ideas

April 5, 2022 | riley

In case no one has told you—you don’t need to have an over-the-top wedding to create a magical, memorable event. If you and your partner aren’t “the formal kind,” then a cool, casual wedding might be your style.  There’s no template for a true-to-you wedding day, after all. You don’t have to take our word for it, though. Let these casual wedding ideas inspire you to create a laid-back wedding with a cool, unique flair.

Tips + Casual Wedding Ideas

1. Find a Comfortable and Unconventional Venue

Start with your wedding location. If comfortable and relaxed vibes are your goal, think about the places you feel most at home. It might even be your home—or your parent’s backyard, or the lakehouse you’ve spent summer nights for the past 20 years. As a bonus, a memorable location means less decor is needed to create a space that feels like you.

If your house isn’t quite fit to entertain a group of people, you can rent an Airbnb for an intimate wedding weekend experience that still feels like home.

Questions to Help Determine Your Wedding Location:

  • Where do you enjoy spending time on the weekend?
  • What’s your favorite restaurant? Is it large enough to accommodate the number of guests you’ll invite?
  • Do you enjoy going to museums or art galleries?
  • If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be?
  • Do you prefer the outdoors, such as a national park, or somewhere indoors?

2. Offer Pre-Ceremony Refreshments and Snacks

Welcome cocktails and snacks set the stage for a fun, laid-back time. If you’d prefer to leave the party until after you say “I do,” you can opt for a coffee, lemonade, aqua fresca, or mocktail bar. If you want to support a small local business you love, consider hiring them to organize this for you.

Blanking on what type of snacks would be best to hold your guests over until the meal?

Here are Some of Our Favorite Wedding Snack Ideas:

  • Charcuterie table – To avoid spreading germs, create individual charcuterie cones
  • Food truck – Everyone loves a food truck, no matter what kind of food the truck serves. It also makes a great photo-op to entertain guests while they wait
  • Sentimental foods – If you have family or friends who have passed, honor them by creating a table of their favorite foods

3. Utilize Mix and Match Seating

The Danish have created and coined a lifestyle known as “hygge,” which essentially means for something to be cozy and comfortable—to create a welcoming feeling. If that’s exactly the aesthetic that you’re looking for on your special day, consider a mix of chairs, textures, and colors that will provide the perfect element of unexpectedness and coziness. You can do everything from poufs and oversized floor pillows to mismatched vintage chairs, picnic set-ups, and boho lounge areas

Shop Our Favorite Floor Pillows:

4. Choose Greenery Over Florals

Lush weddings are popular among couples who enjoy minimalist vibes. Skip floral arrangements and create a fresh, natural feel with greenery. Many couples skip traditional floral arrangements altogether and use a few different textures of greenery or dried flowers for bouquets, centerpieces, and ceremony backdropsEucalyptus, olive branches, rosemary garlands, and tropical leaves are perennial favorites, but we recommend working with a florist who can recommend seasonal greens and arrange them in a beautiful way.

Junebug Tip: If you want to save money and still want florals or plants for your big day, use BloomsyBox, a flower subscription company. They have colorful dried flowers, plants, bouquets, and more. You choose what you want and get them hand-delivered to your door. They even offer dozens of pre-made bouquets. Junebug readers get 10% off with the code JUNEBUG

5. Serve Comfort Foods

If there’s a common theme that unites casual couples, it’s food. Specifically, comfort food. We’re talking about the kind of meal you get once a week because it’s your thing. Maybe it’s pizza, tacos and margaritas, ramen, or burgers. Whatever it may be, don’t be afraid to treat your guests to it. Not only does it make your wedding more laid back and personalized to you as a couple, but your guests will also get a kick out of the delicious food. And if the idea of a seated dinner or buffet isn’t your style, bring in a food truck or go potluck-style and ask guests to bring a dish of choice.

6. Host A Brunch Wedding

Speaking of food, if you’re much more breakfast people and you envision your day including cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and mimosas, why not host a brunch wedding? They’re a great way to save money, and they also give you the chance to tie the knot in the venue of your dreams if it’s booked up on the date that you always wanted. Plus who doesn’t love breakfast food? And saying “I do” earlier means that you can jet off to your honeymoon that same day.

7. Play Games During Your Reception

If you’re hosting your wedding outdoors, add some lawn games to keep guests entertained and allow them to mingle if they don’t know one another very well. From corn hole to giant Jenga to ring toss, there’s a wide variety of nostalgic games that you can play. The best part is that there are so many customized options out there that you can keep long after the wedding that will remind you of one of the most important days of your life every time you play.

Your wedding day should be a reflection of who you are as a couple. We hope these casual wedding ideas have inspired you to stay true to yourselves and ditch the formal wedding if it doesn’t feel true to who you are. But, don’t forget, even laid-back couples can benefit from expert planning and coordination. In need of a wedding planner who will help your day run seamlessly? Let our hand-picked professional wedding planners guide you through the process so you can enjoy every minute of your special day.

Unique And Vibrant Micro Wedding

December 3, 2021 | riley

Micro weddings–which started as a way to get married during the pandemic–have turned into a wedding trend that’s here to stay. More couples are ditching the big guest lists and opting for a smaller affair with their closest loved ones, which is exactly what Hanna-Ruth and Tyson did after their summer 2020 wedding was canceled.

With the help of Relics Planning, the two transformed The Cooperage into a wedding venue full of vintage furniture, Turkish rugs, an epic bar, a bright color palette, and plants galore. The music hall’s large windows brought in a ton of natural light, which paired beautifully with the bold florals arranged by Bird & Bumble. The result was a stunning indoor garden-like space. As if that wasn’t cool enough, they also had a dessert table surrounded by disco balls to add a little bit of glam to the day.

So if you’re planning your own micro matrimony, keep scrolling because one look at these photos captured by Maria Campbell Photography will show you that small weddings are far from boring.

A Change Of Plans That Led To A Vibrant Micro Wedding

We were inspired most by–despite the pandemic–having a safe wedding where we could celebrate the next step of our partnership surrounded by the ones we loved most. We originally had plans to marry in June of 2020, and those plans were dashed. Our hopes for October 2020 also fell short. Finding Relics and doing a pop-up wedding brought all of the things we cared most about together and allowed us to have a phenomenal (and safe!) wedding.

Favorite Moments Of The Day

One of my favorite wedding day memories was standing on the balcony trying to avoid Tyson seeing me in my dress. I could see everyone and wave to people, but I had to turn away anytime I saw Tyson because I was ready to happy-cry and ruin my makeup anytime I saw him! My second favorite memory is walking down the aisle with my mom and dad, hearing one of my favorite love songs, and seeing Tyson smiling so hard at the end of the aisle, even with his face mask on. Tyson’s favorite memory is from the end of the vows when we were announced as Mr. & Mrs. Durrell-Johnson and walking back down the aisle while our family clapped and cheered!

Wedding Advice From The Newlyweds

Our advice is to remember that this day is about celebrating you and the person you love most. You’re not going to remember that the color scheme isn’t the one you picked out when you were young, that your nail shape wasn’t what you wanted, or that you were freezing because you chose to get married in February in Wisconsin. All you’re going to remember is that this was the day that you and your partner chose each other in the greatest and most loving way possible. Enjoy your wedding day and take all the pictures you can!

Beautiful Backyard Florida Wedding

May 25, 2021 | olivia

This wedding was doused in florals and feathers. We mean it—Bridgerton’s got nothing on this backyard Florida wedding. Alexa and Javin decided to tie the knot at their home when COVID restrictions didn’t allow for a destination wedding. With florals by 2 Birds Events and help from wedding planner–and Junebug member–Carefully Curated Events, their backyard was completely transformed into a gorgeous fairy-tale wedding venue.

Speaking of fairy tales, Alexa’s gorgeous blush-toned gown makes it easy to understand why brides are opting for more colorful wedding dresses. Her bridesmaids complemented her look with matching mauve gowns while the groom and groomsmen rocked dark green suits and floral ties. Thankfully, Britt & Bean Photography captured the essence of the entire wedding. Keep scrolling to see every detail of this beautiful backyard wedding.

Bridal Quality Time With The Girls

While I was so incredibly happy with our decor and florals, the part of the day that filled my heart was being able to enjoy the day with the five most amazing girlfriends, my bridesmaids. It’s not easy to build healthy strong relationships and friendships that are filled with unconditional love. When I look back at photos at myself and my girls, I couldn’t be more proud to have had them by my side. Weddings are the perfect time to reflect on all the blessings you have—especially your people.

Marrying Your Best Friend

The most memorable part of the day was walking back up the aisle together. Everything happens so fast during the ceremony, you don’t even realize what is happening. But after it’s over and it’s just you two together, you can finally have your “Oh my god, I just got to marry my best friend” moment.

Choosing A Backyard Florida Wedding

We were originally supposed to have a destination wedding in North Carolina, but it didn’t work out due to COVID restrictions. So we picked the most beautiful, most comfortable place for us in Florida—my home!

Advice From The Bride

This is the most overstated and stereotypical piece of advice, but it’s also the most important: find a way to manage your stress. I won’t say “don’t stress” because that is impossible, but you have to find a way to handle it or it will steal your joy. Halfway through my planning process, I wanted to call off the whole big wedding and just go to the courthouse. It’s not a fun feeling so avoid it as much as possible.

Sustainable Wedding Brands For Your Eco-Friendly Celebration

May 22, 2021 | riley

While your wedding is one of the most memorable days of your life, it’s also one of the most wasteful. Between the tossed paper, the leftover food, and the discarded florals thrown away at the end of the night, even the smallest mico wedding can create quite a CO2 footprint and trash, which can be harmful to the environment.

Luckily, more brands are making it their mission to be more eco-conscious. You can feel confident while you shop these brands for invites, a wedding dress, and more. Shop these sustainable wedding brands to have the green day of your dream–without sacrificing style.

Sustainable Wedding Invitation Brands We Love

Paper Culture

Making the switch to eco-friendly paper is one of the easiest ways to make your special day more sustainable. Paper Culture plants a tree with every order they receive–in fact, they’ve already planted over 1,000,000 trees! On top of that, all of their products are made from materials like 100% post-consumer recycled paper, so no new trees are cut. And luckily, their invites are also adorable.

Botanical Paperworks

Botanical Paperworks is known worldwide for providing eco-friendly seed paper products that literally grow into wildflowers, herbs, or veggies. They collect waste from Canadian businesses and schools to use as the base of their invites. Once planted, the paper composts away, leaving no trace.

Whole Weddings

Another plantable wedding invite company? We can’t seem to get enough. Whole Weddings started as a graphic design blog and quickly morphed into a wedding company specializing in green vow books, cards, bookmarks, and more. The paper used is manufactured in a solar-run factory and is made of 100% recycled materials.

Sustainable Wedding Flowers

Petals For Hope

Have you ever thought about just how many flowers get thrown away at the end of every wedding? From backdrops to centerpieces to bouquets, there are endless amounts of florals included in a special day. They have to end up somewhere when the day ends. Petals for Hope is a non-profit organization that recycles donated flowers and turns them into gorgeous bouquets and arrangements. Donating your flowers to them post-wedding is such an easy way to reduce waste and help others–that’s what we can a win/win.

Something Borrowed Blooms

Faux flowers have gotten a bad rap for being cheap-looking, but Something Borrowed Blooms is here to prove that isn’t always the case. Their rent-and-return system consists of their stunning silk florals, which include hundreds of options from peonies to ranunculus to magnolias. Their arrangements are perfect for everything from bouquets to aisle markers, cake flowers, centerpieces, and even dog collars.

Sustainable Wedding Dresses

Wear Your Love

With an emphasis on organic and luxurious fabrics, Wear Your Love’s mission is to provide wedding fashion that is unique, easy to shop, and—most importantly—eco-conscious. Located in California, the company provides their employees a living wage and they don’t outsource their production to low-wage, environmentally unregulated factories. All gowns are made-to-order and use organic cotton, which produces less CO2, saves water, and is free from harsh chemicals.

Indiebride

Calling all boho couples, this one’s for you. Indiebride prides itself on creating stunning and sustainable gowns. All dresses are made to order, handcrafted in their London studio, and use the highest quality lace and silks. All fabric that is scrapped during production is used to embellish belts, sashes, and veils or donated to fashion students and other organizations.

Leanne Marshall

Much like every other company on this list, Leanne Marshall is a US-based bridal company that crafts made-to-order dresses made of only the finest textiles–all of which come from reputable mills that meet environmental and working standard regulations. Oh, and did we mention that all of their dresses look like they belong in a fairytale?

Reformation

Thrifting has taken the world by storm and is one of the easiest ways to live sustainably. Reformation began as a small thrift store in LA in 2009 and rapidly expanded into an extremely well-known online clothing brand. All clothing is made in small batches to reduce waste and water. Bonus: you can find how much CO2, water, and waste you save on each product page!

Pure Magnolia

This Canadian-based bridal wear company doesn’t use synthetic dyes, produces locally in Vancouver, and reuses or recycles fabric scraps. The reason we love them? A lot of their pieces are separates, so you can mix, match, and re-wear them for years to come.

Rent The Runway

As weddings grow smaller and elopements become more popular, many couples are turning to rentals to help cut costs. Rent The Runway has everything from white dresses perfect for casual couples to bridesmaid options to wedding guest dresses. The cherry on top is that the company donates past-season outfits to organizations like Operation Prom.

Sustainable Wedding Brands For Wedding Rings

Image by Radu Benjamin. See more of this real wedding here

AUrate

You shouldn’t have to choose between high quality, affordability, and sustainability. That’s why AUrate was founded. They use 100% recycled gold, adhere to the Kimberley Process–an initiative created to increase transparency in the diamond industry–and track every single diamond from mine to shop. They also donate a book to US schools with every gold purchase.

Luxury Diamonds

Luxury Diamonds is a custom jeweler and diamond wholesaler that specializes in the precise fabrication of diamond wedding and engagement rings in Vancouver, Canada. Designed by you and carefully crafted by their team, these rings will be as beautiful and unique as your love.

Catbird

Catbird is a women-owned company based out of Brooklyn that has been hand-making jewelry for over 12 years. They source their gold, wire, findings, and castings from eco-friendly vendors, and their conflict-free diamonds are responsibly sourced. They also donate at least 1% of sales to non-profits. It helps that the rings look like they’re made for royalty too.

Bario Neal

When designers Anna Bario and Page Neal began working together, they knew that they wanted to create a jewelry company that didn’t turn a blind eye to the toll that mining precious metals and gemstones have on the environment. In 2008, Bario Neal was born, and they have since become an industry leader in ethical sourcing. They are also committed to equality which we love.

BaYou with Love

If you’ve ever seen the movie Twilight, then you’re probably familiar with the actress Nikki Reed. But did you know that she has a sustainable jewelry business as well? According to their site, “only around 12.5% of electronics are responsibly recycled globally, meaning Americans throw away more than $60 million in gold/silver every year.”

BaYou with Love uses recycled metal and diamonds sourced from the world’s first 100% carbon-neutral diamond producer to create timeless engagement rings and wedding bands.

Sustainable Wedding Decor Brands

maaterra

Maaterra was founded because they value experiences. Woman-owned and family-run, they focus on achieving the best in design and sustainability. Their beautifully etched palm leaf plates are 100% compostable. In addition to their featured designs, they can customize their plates with your monograms. They’re a unique way to entertain and make a memorable gift for your guests.

Rent My Wedding

If you’ve started the wedding planning process, then you’re aware of how expensive it can be. Between the decor, the lights, and the catering, it adds up quickly. Save yourself money by renting decor on Rent My Wedding. You can find everything from lighting to backdrops to linens. The best part is that it gets delivered directly to your house prior to your wedding. Once you’re finished, you bring it back to FedEx within two days for free shipping back.

Local Thrift Stores And Goodwill

Save yourself even more by heading to a local Goodwill or other thrift stores and picking up decor items. From vases to linens to pillows to candlesticks, you never know what you can find. In fact, in many of the weddings that we feature here on Junebug, couples use thrifted finds for some stunning DIY wedding projects. You’ll need to get started early to make this strategy work, but it’s worth it.

Having your dream wedding doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice the environment. These 18 sustainable wedding brands are just the beginning. Now that you’ve got your eye on your favorite brands,  check out these other small changes you can make to have a sustainable wedding
