This Austin Micro Wedding Was Planned In Six Months

July 25, 2022 | kailey

If you only have six months to plan your wedding, don’t panic. Courtney and Cherae’s Austin micro wedding is proof no matter what wedding planning timeline you’re working with, there’s nothing that can stand in your way. This couple started by picking their venue and securing photographer and Junebug member Nikk Nguyen, letting everything else beautifully fall into place.

Justine’s Secret House—a Victorian-style home that’s Austin’s hidden gem venue—created the perfect foundation for this dark and moody celebration. With stunning existing red painted walls, velvet couches, and twinkling chandeliers, minimal decor was needed beyond the deep floral arrangements by Wild Heart Floral. Talk about a wedding packed with personality!

From the chosen venue to the show-stopping decor, this wedding will help kickstart that creative wedding planning.

Wedding Planning Advice From This Couples

Keep in mind: you’re allowed to plan a wedding that speaks to who you are. You don’t have to appease everyone around you. Don’t forget to be kind and patient with yourself during the process. And most of all, don’t forget what the day is really about. This is a day for you and your spouse to celebrate your love for one another; your future together. Do not give your power or energy to anyone or anything that isn’t in alignment with that. What a mic drop!

Plan A Day That Represents You

What was most important was that our wedding represented who we are and that our day was a lot more enjoyable for us than it was stressful. We incorporated certain aspects of traditional weddings (things like the first dance, the walk down the aisle, etc), but we were not shy about getting rid of the aspects we did not care for. We made our wedding our own.

Multi-Day Yosemite National Park Wedding

July 17, 2022 | riley

With its jaw-dropping mountain-top views, deep valleys, and iconic monoliths, there’s nothing quite like a Yosemite National Park wedding. Sharing a deep love for adventure and the great outdoors, this epic spot in nature was the perfect choice for Francesco and Joseph to kick off their multi-day celebration. It started with the pair taking in the park’s best views with their photographer Rylee & Co and reading love letters to one another as the sun set behind them.

The following day, they headed out to the San Francisco Botanical Garden for their ceremony among the trees. The grooms exchanged heartfelt vows in front of their friends and family under a towering redwood tree adorned with crawling greenery and florals. The celebration continued at Foreign Cinema, one of the couple’s favorite restaurants. In keeping with the theme, they brought outdoor elements in through a romantic tablescape featuring a mixed foliage garland with white and blush florals and candles in glass cylinders.

While they had always envisioned a day focused on just the two of them, the pair got the best of both worlds by drawing out the festivities to include their closest loved ones. And it all came together seamlessly thanks to their planner, Boheme Events. If you love the thought of extending your celebrations, scroll through these fabulous images for ideas sure to inspire your own dream wedding.

Why They Wanted A Yosemite National Park Wedding & A San Francisco Celebration With Loved Ones

Since we wanted our wedding pictures in Yosemite, we chose the ceremony and reception venues based on their proximity to where we were shooting the photos. We knew we wanted a location that our guests could enjoy and have things to do before and after our wedding. San Francisco was the perfect choice. It was the nearest city, one we both love, the place where we had our first vacation together and had plenty of events for people to do. We chose the Botanical Garden to keep the same outdoors theme. There is this beautiful giant redwood that we had our altar in front of. For our dinner reception, we chose Foreign Cinema, one of our favorite restaurants, and their food quality is superb.

Capturing Epic Sunrise And Sunset Yosemite Portraits

The day spent taking pictures at Yosemite is something we will never forget. We woke up at 3 am to take sunrise pictures at Glacier Point, standing over cliffs and looking down over the beautiful landscape of Yosemite National Park. We ended the day with sunset photos and read the letters we wrote to one another at Taft Point. The pictures captured were incredible and were everything we both had hoped and imagined they’d be

Personalizing Their Wedding Through Intentional Choices

Our wedding was quintessentially us. We both love nature, hiking, and a flair for the dramatic. When choosing our vendors, we consciously decided to employ female-owned companies because we’re both avid believers in equality. Since our guest list was small and only composed of our closest friends and immediate family, we included a color palette and images for suggested styles for everyone to wear in our wedding invite. We wanted our pictures to show a cohesive color and style theme. We had our complementing suits custom-made as well. We wrote our vows, and our officiant was our first and one of the closest friends we met in medical school, so her words were also specific to us. Lastly, for the reception, we chose two tequila-based signature cocktails named after our pets, and our wedding cake looked more like art than a cake but still tasted amazing, something we were unwilling to compromise on.

Keeping Their Guestlist Small While Including Other Loved Ones On Zoom

Given the timing of our wedding during the pandemic, the most crucial aspect was our guest list. We had to keep the wedding small, and narrowing down our initial list of guests was difficult. Thankfully, we were able to send a Zoom link out for all the other people we, unfortunately, couldn’t have attended in person.

Congratulations to Francesco and Joseph on their multi-day Yosemite National Park wedding. And big thanks to Rylee & Co for capturing every gorgeous detail and swoon-worthy moment of their celebration.

A multi-day wedding is a great way for couples to have plenty of time to celebrate, catch up with loved ones, and get those epic must-have photos. Whether it’s splitting up events to span multiple days or adding more activities, the choice is yours and your partner’s. And with the right vendor team by your side, anything is possible!

Jaw-Dropping Australian New Year’s Eve Wedding

July 10, 2022 | justine

High school sweethearts Hannah and Nick decided to ring in the holidays and celebrate new beginnings with an Australian New Year’s Eve wedding. Using a neutral color palette, lush floral arrangements, and vintage touches—the couple brought to life a celebration overflowing with personality and excitement on the biggest night of the year, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

The pair transformed Hyde Park into a romantic setting for their big day with white Hercules chairs and a white aisle runner leading up to the breathtaking florals and pampas on pillar columns. And under a canopy of trees, the couple exchanged sweet vows at their favorite park. Following the ceremony, they brought the garden vibe into their elegant Moana Hall reception with an eye-catching overgrown floral installation and a dramatic tablescape filled with artful blooms in mismatched ceramic vases, tall tapered candles, and sculptural busts. These elements beautifully blended with the venue’s dramatic vaulted ceilings, distressed white walls, and arched windows.

From the yellow vintage bridal car down to the Daft Punk cover band that kept the party going all night, Hannah and Nick’s big day was spectacular and unforgettable from beginning to end. Scroll through these stunning images to see all the perks of a holiday wedding. All the romance and energy captured by S. Rose Photo might just convince you to say “I do” on New Year’s Eve.

Personalizing The Ceremony By Having Mom Walk The Bride Down The Aisle, Writing Their Own Vows, And Adding Humor

I walked down the aisle with my mum. Seeing all our gorgeous family and friends looking amazing and smiling at us was incredible. We also wrote our vows. Our celebrant asked our guests to put their hands up and vow to drink too much and party. It was fun, and everyone laughed, setting the night’s mood.

The Venues They Chose For Their Australian New Year’s Eve Wedding Were Meaningful To Them

We chose our local park for the ceremony as it’s a charming park and we spend a lot of time there. For the reception, we chose Moana Hall, where we had our 30th birthdays, and the style helped set a theme and mood for the wedding.

Lakeside Summer Camp Wedding with DIY Details

July 2, 2022 | riley

Katie and Scott considered eloping, but when it came down to it, they knew their loved ones had to be there when they said their “I dos.” And what better way to celebrate after having been together for ten years than a lakeside summer camp wedding weekend with the people that helped get them there. Tucked away in picturesque countryside with vintage cabins overlooking the wetlands, Camp Wandawega proved to be the perfect place for a multi-day celebration with fun activities, great food, and relaxed vibes.

With a self-proclaimed DIY queen for a bride, they created a whimsical and nostalgic celebration like a perfectly curated Wes Anderson movie. The bride did it all—from the stationery and signage to the florals and decor. For the ceremony, the couple exchanged vows under a beautiful canopy of trees. It was followed by a tented reception that featured wispy floral arrangements, rustic boho decor, and the romantic glow of candles and string lights. The couple and their guests then danced the night away after the party switched to a silent disco.

The pair definitely pulled out all the stops, and no detail was overlooked when it came to their weekend celebration. From the thoughtful welcome bags and farewell waffle brunch to all the meaningful and personalized elements in between, scroll through these dreamy photos captured by Junebug member Iron + Honey Photography. This lakeside summer camp wedding is filled with clever and creative steal-worthy ideas.

The Couple:

Katie & Scott

The Wedding:

Camp Wandawega, Elkhorn, Wisconsin

How Their Lakeside Summer Camp Wedding Came To Be

I stumbled upon Camp Wandawega on Instagram and instantly became obsessed. I reached out to them before we were engaged and shared my wild idea with Scott when we got engaged. While we were touring it and up in the tree house, he looked at me and said, “Wow. I get it. This is amazing, and I don’t want to get married anywhere else”. We wanted the weekend to celebrate our ten years together with the people who helped get us there. We wanted it to be memorable and different from a traditional wedding where everyone is just going through the motions. The setting allowed everyone to loosen up, and I have a distinct memory of looking around and seeing all of our family and friends mingling and bonding, which was so special.

They Began Their Big Day By Spending Quality Time With One Another And With Their Loved Ones

I think one of the best parts of the day was waking up super early before everyone else on the wedding day and going up in the tree house together and writing the notes we would read to each other at our first looks. This was such a special time that we got to spend together on such a fun but chaotic day. Scott loved jumping in the lake in the morning and playing volleyball and basketball with his friends.

Personalizing The Ceremony Through DIY Decor And Having A Cousin Officiate

Everything at our ceremony was so unique and personalized. I made all the floral arrangements, and we had a special table at the front of the entrance with handmade vellum envelopes with the ceremony details and dried flowers inside for people to throw as we left the altar. On the table, we had our box for cards and photos of all of our parents, grandparents, and loved ones’ weddings to hopefully follow in their footsteps. We had Scott’s cousin as our officiant, and he shared some amazing stories about our relationship, which made it special.

Advice For DIY Couples: Hire A Day-Of Coordinator

Our day-of coordinator was some of the best money that we spent. Madda of Cherry Blossom Events helped make my vision come to life, and without her and her team, I think the day would have been a huge flop. She was amazing, and I recommend every DIY bride to splurge on a coordinator. Don’t let your wedding to-do list overwhelm you. Do one thing every day, and soon that list will disappear. It is such an overwhelming process, but make sure to enjoy it too. Nothing like this will ever happen again in your lifetime.

Why You Should Create A Wedding Email & Consider Getting A Wedding Credit Card

I tell all of our newly engaged friends to make a wedding email. This helps keep everything in one place and helps you share responsibility in the wedding process. Second, I tell everyone to get a shared credit card. This helped us learn to share money, keep all our expenses for the wedding in one place, and got us tons of points we could use after the wedding. We were virtually able to get our honeymoon for “free” with the number of points we accumulated.

Saving Thousands By DIYing The Decor

Everything at the wedding was a DIY project for us—the invitations, decor, signage, and floral arrangements. I made special door hangers with everyone’s name as a hotel would do and a note on the back that said, “do not disturb, partied too hard with the newlyweds.” I am so proud of how unique and memorable our wedding was. I truly surprised myself with how much I was able to do and the thousands of dollars we saved because of it.

Incredibly Vibrant Botanical Garden Wedding

Anabelle and Alexander’s love story was 12 years in the making. Because life had other plans, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the middle of the pandemic. So having a sequel wedding–this time with their loved ones–was something they looked forward to. And with the help of the Events by Denise, the pair was able to bring to life a celebration full of personality that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of their botanical garden wedding venue

A 19th-century estate with hacienda-inspired architecture and lush gardens, a vibrant color palette, and spectacular floral displays—everything about their big day at Rancho Las Lomas was beyond romantic and magical. Nestled under ancient oak and sycamore trees, the couple said their “I dos” under the marble theater. The same space was flipped for the reception, and the repurposed floral arch drew the attention to the show-stopping pressed flower cake by Grace & Honey

You may think the dreamy aesthetic can’t be topped, but the couple still managed to surprise their guests with their stunning attire. The groom rocked a teal suit paired with a pink tie for the ceremony while the bride glowed in her deep-V wedding dress. The pair then changed into gold Cambodian ensembles fit for royalty. Scroll through to see every incredible detail beautifully captured by Junebug member Julie Pepin. This gorgeous botanical garden wedding is full of inspiration you’re going to want to share with your talented team of vendors.

The Couple:

Anabelle and Alexander

The Wedding:

Rancho Las Lomas, Silverado, California, United States

Why A Botanical Garden Wedding

We loved how diverse Rancho Las Lomas was. It was spacious with beautiful architecture and luscious greenery. When we first visited the venue in person, it felt like an adventure going through the space and discovering wonderful pockets throughout the venue.

Personalizing The Ceremony By Having The Groom’s Brother Officiate And Writing Their Own Vows

We had Alex’s younger brother Eli as the officiant as we found him to be the most fitting to lead such a special ceremony. He has a calming and compassionate presence and, of course, has seen our relationship grow for over a decade of being together. During the pandemic, we also did a civil ceremony a year prior, so we decided to save our vows for our wedding celebration when all of our family and friends would surround us.

They Picked Their Wedding Date Based On Junebug Member Julie Pepin’s Availability

It was tough to postpone our wedding, but the main upsides were to have it at a safer time with an abundance of loved ones and to book Julie for our new date. We are huge fans of Julie’s work and were super excited to have her capture our day in what we knew would be a very special way.

Setting Expectations With Vendors And Letting Go Of The Little Things That Don’t Go According To Planned

Although the month before the wedding feels particularly hectic, I think going the extra mile to ensure everything is communicated correctly to vendors helps. We recommend dropping an email with concise reminders of your requests for a specific vendor. Conversations with vendors about your vision are made well in advance, so a refresh would be helpful on their end. Naturally, a few slip-ups happened that possibly could’ve been avoided, but that’s just how it is. At a certain point, you just have to go with the flow on the wedding day to be able to take in all that is wonderful.

They Were Proud Of How They Brought Their Dream Wedding To Life

We are proud of how everything came together visually–to have a wedding that felt thoughtful, personal, and tastefully colorful. The colors were extremely satisfying to see on the day of—whether it was attire, florals, table setting, or the cake. It was the best to see all the details come to life.

The Bride Made Custom Cookie Favors With The Help Of Her Entire Family

Anabelle is very proud of the  decorated sugar cookies she made for the favors. She started a sugar cookie business during the pandemic, which she now operates full-time, so it only made sense to put in the love and care to make all the favors. It was of the crest shield that she designed. Alex, Anabelle, Alex’s brother, and Anabelle’s mom created an assembly line of gold boxes, thank you inserts, cookies, and ribbon to make these favors feel extra special. Anabelle wanted the favors to feel Wes Anderson-esque.

Heartfelt Speeches From Their Loved Ones

Following dinner, we had toasts from the parents and four bridal party members, which was truly memorable. It was beautiful to relax and be present yet reflective while hearing our nearest and dearest talk about their experiences with us. It was comforting and so emotional. It embedded how lucky we are to be surrounded by an abundance of loved ones.

Surprising Their Guests By Changing Into Traditional Cambodian Attire and A Special Mother Dance

We surprised our guests in a couple of ways. We changed into traditional Cambodian wedding attire decked out in ornate gold fabrics and accessories during our cocktail hour. It was great to pay homage to Anabelle’s background. Another surprise was that we did a mother dance together to celebrate the women who raised us. At one point, we turned to switch up partners so we could dance with our mother-in-law too.

Timeless Tropical Saba Estate Wedding Inspiration

June 25, 2022 | riley

Imagine this, walking down the aisle with sand between your toes and bright blue waters as far as the eyes can see. Or dancing under the stars with the waves crashing in the background. This is exactly what Junebug member Avavi Bali Weddings wanted to showcase through this Saba Estate wedding inspiration, but on a more glamorous level. Using a timeless color palette, opulent florals, and gold decor, this styled shoot is the perfect inspiration for tropical luxury.

The talented vendor team completely transformed the pool area into a stunning ceremony space with lush florals lining a reflective aisle and a chic lounge. And with the panoramic ocean views and tropical landscape as a backdrop, it was the ultimate romantic setting for exchanging vows. Meanwhile, the reception featured lavish florals, candles in towering glass candelabras, and gold furniture and settings. Nothing quite says elegance and glam more than gilded details against an all-white tablescape.

To top things off, the sophisticated wedding fashion perfectly tied into the theme. The groom stayed cool in a beige jacket while the bride stunned in a strapless gown. When it comes to destination weddings, it doesn’t get any dreamier than an oceanside soiree. One look at these photos by Imaj Gallery and you’ll want to fly to Bali for your big day. The huge oceanfront garden features expansive lawns big enough to seat 300 guests. The theme of this styled shoot is timeless elegance. White roses and trailing greenery filled the space with floral beauty, while crystal candelabra and mirrored decor added the perfect touch of luxury. As for the massive floral backdrop at the sweetheart table, call us speechless. Also, we wanted to tell the world that Bali is open now. We hope to have destination weddings back soon.

Colorfully Retro Micro Wedding Inspiration

June 12, 2022 | justine

A rich retro color palette, artful florals, and a colorful fringe photo wall—this retro micro wedding inspo embodies a funky and groovy kind of love. Junebug member TMInspired Photography and a talented team of vendors created a styled-shoot that showcased a fresh take on flashback details.

The Sole Repair Shop—a 1900s shoe repair facility turned industrial-style venue—was the perfect setting for this fun styled-shoot. A black geometric backdrop adorned with colorful blooms by Goldenrod Floral Design and mirror balls were the central feature of the intimate ceremony. Mismatched seating added character while the bistro lighting set the romantic mood. For the relaxed reception, the loft was then transformed into a cozy lounge complete with plush pillows and a chic rug.

A trendy plaid suit and a sparkly sequin jacket over a lace wedding dress with statement sleeves—the real life couple served some serious style that matched the vibe. If you and your partner love looking into the past for wedding inspo, then this styled shoot is for you. Step back in time as you scroll through these stunning images by Junebug member TMInspired Photography and pin your faves!

Junebug Member TMInspired Photography’s Insights On This Retro Micro Wedding Inspiration

I have been dreaming up this retro 1970’s styled shoot for over a year. One thing that I always feel is missing in styled shoots is the life that having “guests” can add to really make the vision come to life. I rallied up some of my friends to dress in retro outfits to help my concept come full circle. The styled shoot included a ceremony and reception with pizza for our model real life couple. The details fuse in disco balls, a fringe Photo Booth backdrop, colorful florals, a unique venue space in Downtown Seattle, and a tiny pup named Daisy. I feel like the entire vendor team went all out to help the concept come to life and create a modern retro vibe without screaming that we jumped back in time.

Chic, Modern, and Minimalist San Diego Wedding

June 5, 2022 | justine

Despite the pandemic affecting their wedding plans, Justinne and Gerie decided to keep their original wedding date and tied the knot in a private ceremony followed by an intimate backyard reception. The silver lining, however, was having the opportunity to have a bigger second celebration with their family and friends. And with the help of their planner Jessica Russell Black, boy did they deliver! An impressive venue featuring views of the bay, a classic monochromatic color palette, delicate florals, and understated decor—their minimalist San Diego wedding celebration was the epitome of timeless modern elegance, where less was definitely more.

The ceremony was set on the terrace of The Lane overlooking the San Diego Harbor. The asymmetrical backdrop adorned with airy florals by Arturo Ramirez served as a dreamy focal point and was then repurposed for their sweetheart table. Meanwhile, the interconnected indoor space was the perfect blank canvas for the chic aesthetic of their reception. The sleek theme carried over into their tablescapes, which featured floral clusters with a mix of glass-enclosed black taper candles and votives.

From the DIY seating chart to the bride’s pearl beaded hairstyle, every detail was intentionally and beautifully executed. This celebration proves that it only takes a little to elevate your minimalistic wedding style. Junebug Member Carmen Lopez Photography’s Thoughts On This Minimalist San Diego Wedding

This event was the chic, modern, and minimalist wedding of the year, in my opinion. From the baby’s breath ceremony arch repurposed at the reception to the DIY seating chart and the pearls individually glued in Justinne’s hair—there were so many trends from this wedding day that I think will inspire a lot of what we see in future weddings. This couple absolutely nailed the modern and clean aesthetic.

They Booked Another Venue But Switched To The Right One

We originally booked another amazing venue with Moniker pre-pandemic. While scrolling through Instagram, I came across The Lane and realized it was part of Moniker. Something about that place was calling out to us, but we had already booked Bldg 177. We shifted our plans due to the pandemic, so we visited The Lane before it was even ready and again once it was complete. The choice to go with it felt so right. Ally of Moniker was beyond gracious to let us move venues.

Personalizing Their Ceremony By Writing Their Own Vows And Having Their Cousins Officiate

Since we already had our official ceremony back in October, we had our cousins be the officiants for the second ceremony. They came up with their own script, which had our guests laughing. We also had the opportunity to write our own vows–a bonus since we had a traditional ceremony before.

They Had A Great Experience Working With Junebug Member Carmen Lopez Photography

We’ve been on this journey with Carmen since 2019. And to have her as our photographer was such a gift. When we first met her in Joshua Tree for our engagement photos, she was nothing but the best hype woman. She has been with us through the re-scheduling, and on the day, it felt really like just hanging with your friend.

Advice From The Couple: Create A Celebration That Feels Right For You And Your Partner

Enjoy the process and do what feels right with you and your partner. We’re most proud that we had a wedding that reflected us and our personalities. As cliche as it sounds, the entire day was memorable. It was the best day–from having the opportunity to have our dream wedding after so many postponements and cancellations to finally celebrating with all our family and friends. Time flies so fast, so enjoy every moment.

DIY Seating Chart And Invitations To Cut Costs

We created retro motel keychains for our seating chart for all our guests. Gerie and his dad built a wood panel that served as our backdrop and a place to hang the keys. It’s similar to what you’d find if you were checking into a motel. Then we customized each keychain with our guests’ names and printed them on vinyl. We also DIY’d our invitations with the help of some amazing Etsy vendors. I purchased the templates through Sincerely By Nicole, and I got to customize the paper goods. We also DIY’d the wedding invite pocket with the help of Cricut to save some money.

They Treated Their Guests To Locally Sourced Food

We had truffle sliders, mini avocado toasts, tacos, and a charcuterie table for appetizers. For dinner, we all enjoyed tri-tip with bbq sauce, salmon with pesto aioli, roasted veggies and potatoes, salad, and dinner rolls that were all locally sourced. Our guests loved the truffle sliders that we had picked out as one of our appetizers. We wish we got to eat more of that ourselves. We also ordered pizza from Pizzeria Luigi and had it delivered to our venue as a late-night bite after all the dancing.
