Relaxed and Outdoor Minimalist Micro Wedding

April 18, 2022 | justine

Wedding planning will inevitably have its hurdles. But after changing their wedding plans and venue three times, Drew and Kash’s celebration is proof that nothing will get in the way of true love. This couple decided to keep things low-key and stress-free, choosing a nearby park to exchange their vows under the trees. Ending their day with a  festive reception surrounded by their closest loved ones

A round arch adorned with dried flowers and pampas, a white aisle runner, white hercules chairs, white cocktail tables, and white bar stools—outdoor wedding specialists With Love – Brisbane Wedding Decorators used statement pieces to transform the New Farm Park into a romantic setting for their big day.

If an intimate celebration where your guests can come as they are and you can get quality face time with each one sounds like a dream come true, then this wedding is for you. Scroll down to see all the beautiful photos captured by Jill Kerswill and edited by Liz Wilson Photography.

Drew and Kash

The Wedding:

Brisbane, Australia

Why These Chose To Have An Outdoor Minimalist Micro Wedding At New Farm Park

After changing our venue three times due to the pandemic, we ended up choosing New Farm Park because it was central, spaces in the park could be reserved and booked, and it was a three minute walk along the river to our reception venue. New Farm Park underneath the massive trees by the river made for a pretty special location.

They Had A Relaxed Wedding Timeline

On the day we didn’t want to have to worry about the timing of anything. We did pre-ceremony drinks, ceremony, one speech, and then the cake. So many of our guests remarked on what a great day it was and how they got to spend time with each other and meet others in a relaxed, fun, and vibrant setting. Smash out the formal parts early then you can relax for the rest.

Their Celebrant Created A Ceremony That Was Unique To Them

Our celebrant Aemee was amazing and super thorough. We filled out questionnaires separately and together, and then she provided drafts of her run sheet which we edited together. The ceremony was so intimate yet fun and shareable—we were just full of smiles and laughter, and had the best time.

Photographer Jill Kerswill Got Their Chill Vibe

Our photographer Jill Kerswill was great—she totally got into the relaxed feel of the day and our guests loved her.

Dazzling and Unique Destination Cenote Wedding

April 17, 2022 | riley

When two spiritual and artistic souls from the Big Apple travel all the way to the jungles of Mexico to get married, you know it’s going to be a unique celebration. From the ancient native traditions to incorporating disco balls in the decor, James and Erin’s eccentric style beautifully contrasted with the Tulum wilderness. With Junebug members Mango Weddings & Events by their side, their destination cenote wedding was nothing short of spectacular.

Instead of having a traditional beach wedding that the Riviera Maya is known for, the couple chose to have an intimate early morning cenote ceremony surrounded by only a few of their loved ones. With a Shaman performing the sacred rituals that included all the elements of nature, their jungle “I do’s” were both mysterious and enchanting.

Featuring a lush jungle setting and bold florals by KL Design Events and lots of candles, lanterns, and disco balls for some added sparkle and fun, their wedding reception at WILD was just as magical. And as if the day’s festivities weren’t enough, the celebration continued all night with an epic after-party of dancing and late-night snacks of churros and street corn.

From the special ceremony in the heart of the jungle to their otherworldly beachfront reception, these beautiful photos captured by Andre Gouin will surely have you dreaming of an exotic destination wedding.

The Couple:

Erin and James

The Wedding:

WILD, Tulum, Mexico

Why A Destination Cenote Wedding

James and I wanted our guests to have a unique and memorable experience in Tulum. We are not traditional in any way and wanted our wedding to really embody who we were as a couple.  That was definitely captured in our wedding with our small spiritual ceremony and an immersive food and drink experience at our reception at WILD. We danced, played the congos, smoked cigars, and ate churros and esquites into the morning. We were very close to eloping, but our families and friends mean the world to us. So we opted for an intimate destination wedding instead.

A Same-Day Edit Video For Guests Who Were Unable To Attend The Ceremony

We had to have a videographer who could do a same-day edit video, and Carlos Gallardo’s style matched what we were looking for. The video turned out amazing and was shared at our reception for all of our guests to experience that magical morning.

Why A Local Planner Is Crucial When Planning A Destination Wedding

If you are planning to do a destination wedding in another country, make sure to hire a planner who is knowledgeable about the area and really can hone in on your vision. Mango Weddings & Events curated the most perfect day for us. It encompassed everything that we wanted and more. Also, if you can travel to meet your planner prior to your wedding, definitely go see your venue and taste the food and drinks. Also, while you are there, meet with your photographer and schedule your engagement shoot so that you are comfortable shooting with them on your big day.

Incorporating Their Crystal Business With Agate Wedding Favors

James and I own a crystal and metaphysical shop, Crystals in the Raw. We wanted to incorporate crystals in some way. We decided to use agate slices as name cards. Our guests loved them and took them home as a gift from us.

The Wedding Team:

Photography – Andre Gouin
Event Planning – Mango Wedding Events
Ceremony Venue – El Buho
Reception Venue & Catering – WILD
Floral Design & Rentals – KL Design Events
Officiant – Flor y Canto
DJ – Plug-In Audiovisuals
Videography – Gallardo Films

Congratulations to James and Erin on their dazzling and unique destination cenote wedding. Many thanks to Andre Gouin for taking such beautiful photos of the best day of their lives. And of course, a special thank you to Junebug member Mango Weddings & Events for planning and curating their big day. Colorful Texas Lakeside Micro Wedding

April 9, 2022 | riley

Gabrielle and Kyle had been looking forward to their big wedding in California, but due to the pandemic, they had to change those plans and opted instead for a more intimate celebration with just their immediate family. Between the manicured lawns and two-story waterfall, down to the grand mansion and lake views like no other, they couldn’t have chosen a more luxurious setting for their lakeside micro wedding than the spectacular Escondido Chateau

Even with a smaller guest list, the couple didn’t want to miss the opportunity to do something really special for their big day. the couple, with the help of their planner ELC Social and florist Belle Soul Weddings, were able to pull off a breathtaking outdoor ceremony. And with the full moon and a starry night sky as the backdrop, their reception out on the terrace was straight out of a fairytale.

From the storybook venue and stunning decor to the three wedding cakes and lavish banquet, the couple splurged and pampered themselves and their guests to an unforgettable experience. If a micro wedding feels right for you and your partner, scroll down to see these beautiful images captured by Junebug member Elisa Lopez Photography.

The Couple:

Gabrielle and Kyle

The Wedding:

Escondido Chateau, Marble Falls, Texas, United States

How The Texas Lakeside Micro Wedding Came To Be

Once we decided to cancel the California wedding, we started searching for a venue in Dallas, where we spent the early days of the pandemic with my family. My husband and I loved the idea of staying in a house for a long weekend so we could relax over multiple days. With a smaller guest list, we were able to splurge on the house and we found the most incredible estate with the most breathtaking landscaping and scenery. We were able to do everything on the Escondido Chateau. It was pure luxury and set the tone for our entire wedding experience.

Having A Family Member Officiate The Wedding

In the spirit of keeping things in the family, we had my father-in-law be our officiant so it was easily personable. He told stories about our meeting and it was a beautiful personal touch to have him read our love story. We kept the vows traditional on our wedding day but read our own written vows to each other while on our honeymoon in Tulum

Their Micro Wedding Gave Them A Chance To Splurge

Given the smaller scale of the guest count, we splurged on the things that made it feel like an event such as a bartender, chefs, florist and table designer, three wedding cakes, violinists, hair and makeup, wedding china and stemware rentals, masseuse, etc. We came away feeling thoroughly pampered and that our small (and perfect) wedding felt like our choice of an intimate affair.

Junebug Member Elisa Lopez Photography Captured All The Best Moments

I instantly fell in love with the quality and feeling of Elisa’s photos. They were moody, rich with depth of color, and sophisticated. I knew she was the photographer for me. The day of, she made her way around the property making shots and scoping out the best areas for photos. She was efficient with her time and took pictures of our family while I was still getting ready. She got all the important shots and was a master of lighting. We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

For brides who are struggling in making a choice between a smaller scale wedding or a large affair, I would suggest keeping it small. It makes the day less of a performance and just about the two of you. And it doesn’t have to be any less beautiful just because it’s on a smaller scale.

Having a smaller celebration doesn’t mean you can’t have the fabulous venue, your dream wedding dress, elaborate florals, or a lavish dinner menu. A micro wedding just like this one gives you the opportunity to splurge on the things that matter most to you and your partner.

Totally Luscious Tulum Jungle Wedding

April 3, 2022 | riley

Tucked in a jungle, surrounded by nature and the breathtaking Caribbean sea, Wendy and Michael’s Tulum jungle wedding was the perfect combination of tropical flair, boho touches, chic fashion, and fun party vibes. With the help of planner LM Weddings and a talented team of vendors, their day was the carefree and relaxed celebration they’ve always wanted.

The couple exchanged their handwritten vows in a romantic seaside ceremony under the swaying coconut trees at the luxurious Zorba Villas. The reception that followed at Nu Tulum was filled with gorgeous arrangements of tropical greenery and white orchids, macrame decor, and lots of candles. The celebration continued as the couple and their guests enjoyed a wild night of dancing underneath the stars, and a full moon swim past midnight.

From the stylish wedding attire and lush tropical setting to the tender moments and festive vibe, there was absolutely no shortage of amazing details–all beautifully captured by Junebug member Luxart Wedding Studio. If you’re daydreaming about a tropical jungle beach wedding, scroll down, this is exactly the inspiration you need!

The Couple:

Wendy and Michael

The Wedding:

Nu Tulum, Tulum, Mexico

The Bride Had A Sweet Surprise For Her Grandmother

Wendy included her grandmother in the getting ready process and surprised her with PJs that matched the girls. She was so shocked and the first to put them on. She was glowing the entire day.

How The Couple Ended Up With A Tulum Jungle Wedding

Even though we live in Colorado, we both always knew we wanted a beach wedding. There’s something about the ocean that brings out the child in everyone. Once we had that and Tulum nailed down, we went to visit. We had kind of a bender of a night before meeting our wedding planner, and we ended up at this amazing restaurant that still had its construction gates up but was holding a soft opening. They kindly invited us in and offered us some cocktails on the house, and we texted our planner, letting her know we had a venue that we wanted to check out in the morning. It turns out it was the first place that she had set up. We were sold from there. It was fate.

Involving Family And Loved Ones In The Ceremony

We wanted to make sure everyone there–especially our family members–felt like they were a part of the ceremony. Wendy’s oldest brother, Nick, was the officiant. We wish we could say that he was for hire because we were blown away by his words. Michael’s cousins sang and played as guests took their seats. We chose and surprised each other with the songs we walked down the aisle to. We had a Copal blessing from one of Wendy’s childhood friends while Michael’s college roommate sang “River” by Leon Bridges. Wendy’s Grandmother gave a reading about new versus old love.

Working With Junebug Members Luxart Wedding Studio

We can’t say enough good things about Luxart Wedding Studio. They were the perfect mix of personality yet subtle, never overstepping an intimate moment to get the shot yet still capturing it. They made us feel so loved and confident the entire day and continue to do so. They also listened to us. We didn’t want to spend a ton of time away from our guests to take photos, so they were extremely efficient yet captured every single shot we wanted– and even shots we didn’t know we wanted.

How They Made Their Wedding Represent Them

We don’t take ourselves very seriously and feel our wedding reflected that perfectly. The most memorable part was how every single part of the wedding day was so authentic to us. From doing rooftop yoga taught by one of Wendy’s longest friends and the relaxed nature of the getting ready process for both of us to the epic dance party where there were no rules and no shirts. We ended the evening with all guests (including parents, aunts, uncles, and their friends) in the ocean for a past-midnight full moon swim—it was a pretty surreal moment.

Fashion-Forward and Timeless Malibu Mountaintop Wedding

March 26, 2022 | riley

Set in a beautiful Tuscan-style estate perched above the clouds, Natalie and Kevin’s Malibu mountaintop wedding was both fashion-forward and timeless. Between the beautiful vineyard, the stunning villa, and the spectacular ocean, mountain and city views, the Malibu Solstice Vineyards truly was the perfect venue for the couple as they toasted to their new life and marriage.

While their guests looked on, the couple exchanged their heartfelt vows with the breathtaking Santa Monica mountains as their backdrop. And as if the scenery wasn’t beautiful enough, the two stood out in their glamorous wedding attire–Natalie in a custom Monique Lhuillier dress and Kevin in a classic tux by Suit Supply

Their romantic outdoor reception featured U-shaped seating for an intimate feel, gorgeous white florals by Creative Light Design, a chic all-white tablescape, and unobstructed views of the ocean and the city skyline. To top it all off, they kept the celebration going by surprising guests with a silent disco and a late-night snack of soft pretzels.

Despite the venue change four months before the wedding, their big day went off without a hitch thanks to their planner, Only One Events, and their incredible vendor team. If you’ve been dreaming of tying the knot surrounded by scenic mountain views, then you need to scroll through these amazing photos by Rachel Wakefield!

The Couple:

Natalie and Kevin

The Wedding:

Malibu Solstice, Malibu, California

Emotional Moment Walking Down The Aisle

From where I was standing, the staircase curved, so I couldn’t see everyone until I turned the corner. Seeing all of my loved ones holding their parasol umbrellas and the gorgeous ocean view just took my breath away. Even though Kevin and I did a first look, it was an emotionally charged moment I will forever remember. Our chairs were placed really close to where we were standing at the altar, and I just remember feeling so embraced with the love of our closest family and friends, who traveled from New York City and Boston to be there.

A Unique Wine Unity Ceremony

Our venue has a vineyard, and we love wine, so we wanted to incorporate that into our ceremony. We had a section of our vows printed onto adhesive paper that we stuck to the back of one of the wine bottles from the venue during the ceremony. Our officiant–Kevin’s brother–explained that we had purchased ten bottles, and for our first ten anniversaries, we would revisit our vows over a glass of wine each year.

Flexibility Is Key To Wedding Planning During A Pandemic

Be flexible–especially in the ever-changing COVID climate. And always be ready and willing to shift your plans. We were supposed to get married at a different venue, but four months before our wedding, we changed venues to Malibu Solstice Vineyard and couldn’t have been happier.

Photographer Rachel Wakefield Made The Couple Feel Comfortable

Rachel was incredible—so easy to get along with. She honestly felt like just another friend there, which was important to me. I wanted my friends and family to feel comfortable around her so the raw moments could be captured, and everyone just kept saying how great she was. She had incredible ideas and made our vision come to life.

A Malibu Mountaintop Wedding That Feels Like An Intimate Dinner Party

I wanted our reception to feel like we were at a dinner party with our closest people. We opted for family-style and had everyone sit at one big U-shaped table. It created community and conversation and made it feel like we were at the most amazing restaurant with our favorite people.

A Silent Disco Surprise For Their Guests

The silent disco was a complete surprise to everyone. We were so tempted to tell everyone about all the exciting things we had planned for our wedding, but we’re so happy we kept it a surprise. People were so excited when they realized what it was and had the best time. People still talk about how great it was!

Totally Fun and Unique Calile Wedding

March 23, 2022 | kailey

A stunning urban venue, breathtaking cityscape views, minimalist details, great style, and personal touches—Shannon and Natasha’s Calile wedding was packed with handpicked elements that thoughtfully represented them. Surrounded by only their closest loved ones, it was a fun and unique big day that was so beautifully theirs.

The couple were very intentional about what they wanted to be a part of their special day. With the help of the bride’s dad, the DIY colorful book arbor framed the couple as they exchanged their vows during the ceremony. It was the perfect contrast to the venue’s muted interior and gold mirrored ceiling.

Featuring understated white florals in bud vases, book page table runners, and sleek gilded details—the reception that followed was a combination of whimsical romance and chic minimalism. More than anything it was an atmosphere full of fun and love, with plenty of unforgettable moments.

Scroll down to see every incredible detail—captured by Nikita Pere—that proves an urban wedding can have so much character.

The Couple:

Shannon and Natasha

The Wedding:

Brisbane, Australia

A Minimalist Calile Wedding

We chose The Calile because it was absolutely stunning. It was gorgeous yet simple, modern and sleek—basically a blank canvas. It meant we could bring our ideas into the space without it becoming cluttered and overwhelming. The staff at the venue were also absolutely incredible. Our contact was so helpful, calm, and friendly.

A Unique DIY Book Arbor For Their Ceremony

My Dad helped us create the book wedding arbor for the ceremony. A metal frame was created in three parts—the two sides and the arch at the top that slotted into the sides. We then bought dollar books from the Lifeline Bookfest that had to have holes drilled in the middle so they could slide on the metal frame. It had to be transported in pieces and constructed at the venue on the day.

Creating A Ceremony That Reflected Their Love Story With Brisbane City Celebrants

We worked closely with Cara from Brisbane City Celebrants to construct a ceremony that reflected us and our story. We also brought in the book arbor and book page confetti to make it more personalized to us.

It Was An Emotional Walk Down The Aisle

Walking down the aisle towards my future husband. I started crying immediately, which turned into a torrent of giggling I couldn’t get under control.

Plan A Wedding That Reflects Your Story

Our biggest advice is to plan your wedding for you. Don’t worry about how it will look on camera, on Instagram, or to anyone else. Just try to create a day that reflects you, your partner, your relationship, and is going to mean something to you.

Tea Wedding Favors

We gave our guests tea and heart-shaped infusers because we’re also big tea-drinkers.

Creative and Unique Safari Park Wedding

March 19, 2022 | riley

Kimberly and David’s San Diego Safari Park wedding ticks all the right boxes of a magical and extraordinary celebration. Modeled after the African Serengeti and the vast expanse of the Asian plains, what’s more spectacular than saying “I do” surrounded by amazing wildlife, a tropical lagoon, and lush savanna? With panoramic views of the park and San Pasqual Valley, the couple exchanged emotional vows with the most idyllic backdrop.

The reception that followed at the Kijami pavilion is reminiscent of a luxurious South African lodge with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, a baobab tree bar, a cozy outdoor lounge, and gorgeous safari-inspired accents. Floral arrangements by Simply Put Designs that echoed the colors of the savanna, along with emerald and gold tablescape details, added the right touch of glamor. The same deep jewel tone from the groom’s suit and wedding party attire beautifully tied in with the natural surroundings.

The couple truly made their wedding dreams come true by tying the knot at one of their favorite places and sharing the experience with their loved ones. Scroll down to see every unforgettable detail of this San Diego Safari Park wedding as captured by Sara Whitaker.

The Sweetest First Look

The most memorable part of our wedding was seeing my husband for the first time during our first look. It was great having that time just to calm both of our nerves and soak in the emotions.

A Personalized Ceremony

I loved how personal our vows were. Choosing our officiant to be one of our close friends was great because he knows how our love has grown.

Keeping A Loved One’s Memory Alive

My father passed away, and my Maid of Honor surprised me with a bridal locket with his photo to add to my bouquet. It was very nice having that.

Romantic and Stylish Pink Wedding Inspiration

March 16, 2022 | kailey

Pink, magenta, and coral paired with shimmering gold for a glitzy touch—this pink wedding inspiration featuring two grooms is the perfect combination of playful, romantic, and stylish. Junebug member The Tinsley Co., planner Deianna Hamilton, and a talented team of vendors set out to create something fresh, unique, and current using this popular color palette.

Upstairs Atlanta—an industrial 1865 blacksmith building—is a raw space complete with an arched concrete ceiling, vaulted skylight windows, and stunning rustic finishes. Colorful clouds of blooms created for the ceremony by Samara Floral added a pop of color to the blank open space. The same space was flipped for the reception with an eye-catching balloon installation by Pop Deux and tablescape featuring lush florals, gilded cutlery, and blush taper candles. While a cozy lounge area and the cutest mobile bar was an exciting and fun addition to the adjacent outdoor patio.

From the pink and beige suits to the floral and pink bolo ties, this styled shoot is serving us some major fashion inspiration. These creative looks champion individuality, taking center stage. If fabulous pink weddings excite you, then there are lots of gorgeous ideas from this styled shoot for you to steal. Scroll down to see these incredible images captured by Junebug member The Tinsley Co.

The Tinsley Co’s Thoughts On This Pink Wedding Inspiration

Overall we wanted to leave gender-related color stereotypes in the past and remove the stigma that pink is a feminine color that is exclusively for girls. Honestly, the style inspiration for this shoot is Harry Styles. We adore his bold bravery, his love for gowns, pastels, and unique clothing shapes.

Our incredible couple, Daniel and Tanner, were totally down for this pink styled shoot and I love the photo of them sitting at the table holding hands. You get everything in this photo from the tabletop design, their suits, their love, and Daniel’s bomb painted nails.

Unconventional and Fun Wedding Details

We brought in a bright blue vintage Scout as an alternative to the classic getaway cars we constantly see. The mobile bar car added an additional element of fun, while still providing an elevated experience. The textures and colors continued into the stationery by One Creative Factory, the wedding cake by Pine Cone Bakery, and Frosted by Fran custom cookies—bringing in that pop of yellow that perfectly complemented the pink.

Gorgeously Lavish Il Terrazzo Carmine Wedding

February 19, 2022 | riley

After re-planning their wedding in only three months, what Jeff and Jason wanted more than anything was to have a celebration that felt like a big Italian family dinner party at their favorite restaurant. The couple, with the help of their planner, Clutch Events, pulled out all the stops for their gorgeously lavish Il Terrazzo Carmine wedding—treating their family and friends to an experience full of unforgettable moments, an amazing feast, and awesome tunes that kept a packed dance floor all night.

With its classic cozy interior, the couple transformed the timeless landmark using lush white floral arrangements and greenery by Juniper Flowers for an extra romantic touch. From the completely customized and meaningful ceremony to the stylish matching white tuxedos and Louboutin Oxfords to the charming tuxedo wedding cake—the couple beautifully blended traditions and added personal touches resulting in a wedding that uniquely reflects their love story.

If you and your partners are foodies dreaming of tying the knot at a spot that you love to frequent, these beautiful images captured by Apollo Fotografie are proof that you don’t have to sacrifice on style to host your big day at your favorite restaurant.

The Couple:

Jeff and Jason

The Wedding:

Il Terrazzo Carmine, Seattle, Washington

Meaningful Personal Touches

We had our tuxedos custom-made and embroidered with the saying, “Side by Side.” Although the phrase represents our commitment to each other, it also happens to be Jeff’s family anthem. It was sung at the wedding by Jeff’s 96-year-old Nonni. Jeff’s uncle Paul and aunt Lisa gave us each a genuine Six Pence to put in their shoes for good luck. Also, as Jason’s something old, his Dad and step-mom gave him his great-grandmother’s handkerchief, and Jeff wore his great-grand uncle’s cufflinks.

Creating A Personalized Ceremony

Because Jeff is Catholic and Jason is Jewish, we completely customized our wedding ceremony. We integrated the customs, readings, and prayers of both traditions to make a deeply meaningful ceremony for both of our families. Although finding a rabbi to make this happen was extremely difficult, we are so lucky we found one who let us create our own ceremony.

Working with Junebug Member Apollo Fotografie

Jonathan is more than just a photographer; he becomes your friend. The Apollo Fotografie team was so professional and captured nearly every moment throughout the day without making it feel like you were being watched. His inspiration led to many of the amazing photographs you will see. It helps to have a photographer who knows how to guide you.

Their Il Terrazzo Carmine Wedding That Felt Like A Family Dinner Party

Il Terrazzo Carmine is one of the oldest and most reputable Italian restaurants in Seattle. Since Jeff is Italian, we wanted our wedding to feel like a “big family Italian-style dinner.” We know the owners, and they were extraordinarily accommodating given the unprecedented nature of event-planning during a pandemic. Il Terrazzo never disappoints, and our family was very impressed. It was the best food you could imagine for a wedding. And because we have frequented the restaurant for years, we got to choose all of our favorite menu items to share with our guests.

The Most Memorable Moments Of Their Big Day

There were so many memorable moments–walking out onto the dance floor for our first dance to “I Love You Always Forever” and getting ready in our hotel suite with our wedding party, drinking and laughing with us. Each of our mother-son dances was so special and something we will never forget, too. Above all, the garter toss was the most fun of the whole night!

KonMarie Wedding from The Big Fake Wedding

Marie Kondo sparked a sensationalist move to minimal living and lifestyle. The ethos of her approach is that if something doesn’t spark joy, don’t give it space in your home. What if you approached wedding planning in the same manner? Well, creating a KonMarie wedding is exactly what The Big Fake Wedding asked their talented team of wedding professionals for. One look at their Los Angeles wedding event will inspire KonMarie weddings everywhere. The results are minimalist, simple, and absolutely stunning.

In making sure to spark joy the vendors explored clean and modern aesthetics with gorgeous Japanese art forms like ikebana flower arranging and Sumi painting. Don’t just take our word for it, scroll on to see images captured beautifully by EZER Photo and Ana Karotkaya Photography.
