Sustainable Three-Day Horetown House Destination Wedding

November 22, 2023 | justine

When Rachel and Fionnan were gearing up for their Horetown House destination wedding, they had a simple but giant goal: make it unforgettable for everyone. And guess what? They totally nailed it with the help of their fantastic vendor team! Picking the charming country house as their venue for the three-day lovefest was just the beginning. Their choice of a garden vibe, sprinkled with wildflowers and a fresh color palette, took the romance to a whole new level. It was truly a magical celebration of love that they pulled off effortlessly.

Nestled in the serene Irish countryside, the pair chose the beautiful stone mansion surrounded by rolling hills and lush birch trees for their special day. The ceremony unfolded in The White Room overlooking the gardens. Transitioning to the reception, they transformed the dining room into a magical, textural forest by incorporating vines, clusters of blooms, and lots of greenery. They added beautiful linens, colorful candles, and delicate sprays of flowers and fruit, turning their celebration into a fairy tale of romance and charm.

Bringing their loved ones together for such a special occasion was a big deal for them, and they wanted the love they felt to shine through every moment of the celebration. If you want to see the beauty of every moment and get inspired by their wedding journey, just take a scroll through these amazing photos captured by Wild Things Wed.

The Couple:

Rachel and Fionnan

The Wedding:

Horetown House, Wexford, Ireland

Choosing Calm Over Chaos During the Wedding Prep

There’s no right way to do the wedding prep, so don’t give into the “as seen on TikTok” pressure. I did not want the busy bridal suite with matching pajamas, loads of champagne, and photoshoots. While I love that for others, I knew I needed to feel centered to be present during the ceremony. I asked my bridesmaids to help me keep the room quiet, clean, and calm, with lots of natural light and only a few people in the room. I thought I was making a mistake at first, that I would regret not having those types of photos and memories, but the photos are just as wonderful and captured intimate moments with my bridal party and parents.

Navigating Nerves and Emotions by Having a First Look

We made the ultra-romantic, pragmatic decision to do a first look to get the portraits out of the way before the ceremony. Still, it was one of the most unexpected emotional experiences. We were both happy to have some of the nerves diffused and to have had that quiet, grounding moment together because everything is a blur once the ceremony begins. For us, wedding planning felt oddly peripheral until the moment you got to be with your person, and it began to feel real.

Creating a Magical Horetown House Destination Wedding Atmosphere with Locally Grown Wildflowers

We trusted Horetown House for great food but also cared a lot about how everything looked and felt on our wedding day. I discovered Fionnuala Fallon, the Irish Flower Farmer, in the Irish Times gardening column, and I liked that she used local wildflowers. Even during planning pauses, knowing she was growing the flowers felt special. Since guests were staying for three nights, we wanted each space to feel different on the wedding day. Fionnuala and our stylist, Grace Campbell of Grace & Saviour, turned the dining room into a magical forest with vines, blooms, and greenery. They even transformed the poles into trees for a cozy, green feel wherever guests sat.

Letting Go and Trusting the Pros and Key Loved Ones

Planning a wedding from Boston in just nine months meant relying heavily on Zoom and WhatsApp, with only Fionn having seen the venue in person. We initially found ourselves caught in a whirlwind of trying to control everything from afar until we realized the importance of trusting experienced suppliers. While it may seem obvious, it’s easy to forget amidst the stress. Another critical tip is to designate two reliable members from your wedding party or family as points of contact for last-minute decisions. Communicate this clearly to your guests, and don’t overthink their authority—unless it involves budget or safety, trust them to handle details like boutonniere pinning or arranging taxi pickups. After all, they’re there to witness and support your special day.

How Guest Mingling Defined Their Wedding Experience

We prioritized mingling between our guests—assigning our families and wedding parties to get American and European guests chatting before we even arrived in Wexford. We arranged carpools from Dublin, set up a weekend Whatsapp group (dutifully moderated by our groomsmen), and ensured every event had mixed seating arrangements to keep people talking and hanging out.  Our friends still talk about the relationships formed during our weekend. Seeing so many offshoots of our collective and separate lives collide has been the most beautiful experience. We’ve also been told many times how much the wedding felt like “us,” which is the most we could have hoped for. We wanted the weekend to feel as much a getaway as it did a celebration.

A Tale of Trust and Love at Their Horetown House Destination Wedding

We planned our wedding abroad using Zoom, and trusting our vendors was vital. Linda and Niamh from Horetown House won us over with their warmth and professionalism, pouring care and love into every detail. We appreciated their commitment to sustainability and supporting local suppliers. Horetown House, with its ten suites and 20 shepherds’ huts, became a neighborhood for our 92 guests. They operate as a B&B, serving breakfast for mingling and even delivering hangover baskets to rooms. The atmosphere felt like home, thanks to their incredible staff. There was always a full glass, fresh sandwiches, and a cozy place to hang out, creating the perfect wedding vibe.

Late-Night Revelry at the Legendary 1692 Bar at Horetown House

Additionally, Irish weddings go late-late into the wee hours of the morning, something we warned our American guests of beforehand. Horetown House benefits from their 1692 Bar (modeled after a traditional Irish pub) that occupies their basement. Since the house is technically your dwelling for the evening, the bar can stay open long past closing hours, so we moved our DJ and party into the basement post-sparklers for a second dance party, and Tayto sandwiches before the sun came up.

Survival Essentials and Sweet Treats for Their Horetown House Destination Wedding

We worked with our stylist, Grace Campbell of Grace & Saviour, to create welcome bags. I designed each canvas tote with Irish sayings (“It’ll be grand,” “Sláinte s táinte”). Grace sourced Fionn’s favorite Irish treats and other “survival” essentials for the weekend. We also included die-cut stickers of our beloved cat, Pepper, and it was too funny to see them on guests’ suit lapels through the night. Grace also had the idea to include a library card, designed by Katie, to invite guests to visit our book bar on the wedding day.

DIY Book Bar and Personalized Bookplates and Bookmarks

Grace found a vintage bookcase, and Fionn and I picked our favorite titles to stock the shelves with used books from World of Books. We also included titles by some of our guests (including bridesmaid Meredith Goldstein, Sara Farizan, Neil Swidey, and Fionn’s brother Cethan Leahy), and it was so fun to watch people having their books signed at the afterparty. To make each book special, I made silk-tassel bookmarks featuring Fionn’s father’s artwork to tuck into each book. Grace had custom bookplates, designed by Katie, featuring our names and wedding date imprinted on the inside covers.

Relaxed Garden Party Evergreen Museum and Library Wedding

November 12, 2023 | justine

Who can resist the charm of a garden wedding? It’s like pure magic. That’s why Courtney and Christopher had a dream to exchange sweet vows amid a beautiful garden. With a soft, dreamy color palette, lush flowers, and that enchanting outdoor setting, they turned this dream into reality at their Evergreen Museum and Library wedding.

Their garden ceremony was like something out of a fairy tale, with stunning floral pillars framing the moment they said “I do.” After tying the knot, they continued the celebration in a tented reception area adorned with elegant drapes, sparkling chandeliers, and exquisite table decor.

If your dream wedding involves a historic mansion and perfectly manicured gardens, this is just the inspiration you need. Keep scrolling to see all the stunning details beautifully captured by Junebug member Jacqueline Davison.

The Couple:

Courtney and Christopher

The Wedding:

Evergreen Museum and Library, Baltimore, Marland, United States

Finding Calm in the Groom’s Smile at the Aisle

I felt so much stress and anxiety leading up to the wedding, and the threat of rain had us nervously checking weather forecasts up to the last minute, literally. I had barely finished my vows despite starting them months in advance. And right as I heard my music cue, I think all the nerves that had been at bay just hit me. I couldn’t see him initially and must have seemed a little shaky because my mom kept reminding me to breathe. And then I saw him. And I know it sounds silly, but I felt completely calm. I knew other people were there. But I just saw him smiling (and crying), and I felt like everything else faded away, and it was just me and him. I’ll never forget that moment and that feeling.

Personalizing the Ceremony Through Unconventional Traditions and a Soulful Playlist

We worked closely with our officiant to find inspiration and quotations from our favorite authors to set the tone for our day and life together. We didn’t feel the need to conform to any single tradition or template. For instance, Courtney is closest to her mother and grandmother, so they walked her down the aisle. As Black Americans, it was important to honor the tradition of jumping the broom, so we also incorporated that. It was fun to take elements to fit who we are and to tie it all together. The music was hugely important: we love classic R&B, funk, and hip-hop. Our top priority was to see our guests dancing and enjoying themselves, and the DJ brought his A-game. We ensured they had Stevie Wonder and The O’Jays in their repertoire. As a nod to Courtney’s DC roots, our DJ obliged us with an epic Go-Go set.

The Moment They Knew That an Evergreen Museum and Library Wedding Was The Perfect Choice

We were going for a relaxed spring “garden party” feel. In our venue search, we needed to find a place with its own natural beauty that we could play off of. When we first toured the Evergreen Museum and Library, we knew that was our place. Driving to the venue, you pass through the Roland Park neighborhood. With all these incredibly stately homes with beautiful foliage and landscaping. And then you turn into a dramatic, rolling driveway and this grand Victorian mansion and cozy, elegant gardens. It made for a memorable entrance.

The Floral Transformation at Their Evergreen Museum and Library Wedding

Our florists did a great job of playing off the environment, using soft petal blooms like ranunculus, sweet peas, and garden roses that played up the garden textures and foliages of the venue. They created a beautiful freestanding arch with flowering branches like forsythia and dogwood. It was the backdrop for our ceremony in front of the garden and was repurposed to frame our seats at the head table. They completely knocked it out of the park!

Wedding Day Wisdom: Embracing the Imperfections

Something will go wrong. Maybe even a few things, but that’s ok. The sooner you can come to terms with that, you can focus on enjoying the rest of the day. And the things that end up being better than you could have imagined. Also, surround yourself with people who can shield you from some of those issues, especially on your wedding day—having the right vendors passionate about their work matters. And, of course, having people in your wedding party who love and support you and your partner. And want to ensure you have a great day can help keep you calm and focused on what matters. We feel so fortunate to have had such a fantastic vendor team and wedding party.

Making the Celebration Last Longer by Hosting Welcome Drinks and a Farewell Brunch

It’s not exactly a surprise because we were warned about this by almost every married couple we know. But, the day goes by so quickly. We’re grateful we had both welcome drinks the night before and brunch the following day. Those events allowed us to spend more time with our friends and family. And to hear all the fun stories from the wedding we may not have been a part of.

Classic Villa Petite Syrene Elopement Complete With a Cake Decorating Class

November 9, 2023 | justine

When Dylan first packed his bags to visit Olivia while studying in Italy, their desire to explore the world together was born. So, when it came to tying the knot, there was no question. Positano was the place to make it happen. With an unshakable love for the beach, the cliffside village’s picturesque blend of seaside beauty and Italian charm was a match made in heaven. Their dream wedding was all about keeping it genuine and uniquely them—no frills and intimate, with just close family in tow. But, they also wanted the celebration to be a blast! So, they stirred things up with a fun cake decorating class, turning their Villa Petite Syrene elopement into a memory that’s as sweet as, well, cake!

With the stunning Mediterranean Sea as their backdrop, they embarked on a day destined for the memory books. Their exchanged heartfelt vows on a beautiful terrace, where the path was lined with flowers, offering an unobstructed view of the picturesque waterfront and the charming town. The celebration continued with a family-style feast, and cake that they playfully decorated themselves adding a sweet touch. The breathtaking surroundings served as the perfect canvas for capturing snapshots around town, and they even sprinkled in some extra fun by trying their hand at a shooting gallery game.

Their special day was everything they wished for and more, and Soul Lovers Wedding captured all the special moments that made it truly unforgettable. If you’re an adventurous couple searching for wedding ideas with breathtaking views, you’re in the right spot for inspiration.

The Couple:

Olivia and Dylan

The Wedding:

Positano, Italy

Why They Chose a Villa Petite Syrene Elopement

The first time Dylan left the country was to visit me when I was studying abroad in Italy, and this is where we both caught the travel bug and desired to continue exploring the world together. So, we thought there was no better place to get married. We deeply love the beach and the ocean, and Positano provided the perfect combination of stunning ocean scenery and Italian charm. Our goal was to keep it super organic and true to ourselves, so we kept it simple, allowing the beauty of Positano to be the main attraction. We aimed for an intimate and unique atmosphere, sharing our day with only our immediate family. Yet, we also wanted it to be fun and lively, so adding a wedding cake decorating class was the perfect way to achieve that!

Matching the Energy: Keeping the Wedding Fashion Classic and Relaxed

We wanted the vibe to feel classic and timeless. We kept the men’s suits classic in black and white, and the ladies could choose any color. We aimed for the women’s colors to be vibrant and fun, mirroring the coastal hues. I wanted my look to be classic and relaxed, so I kept it simple with my hair, dress, and shoes. Since we had an intimate wedding, I didn’t want it to feel more than that, so we kept it laid-back, which matched the energy perfectly.

A Day of Love, Family, and Authenticity

We shared those precious moments with the people who mean the most to us, who’ve been our biggest supporters, and those who became like family on that special day—our incredible photographers and officiant. We found that the key is to relax and have fun because things have a way of working themselves out. You only have one day to absorb it fully, so don’t stress about the little things. We stayed true to ourselves; it was all about having a good time. Our photos reflect our genuine selves, and we honestly had the most amazing day of our lives without pretending to be something or doing things that didn’t feel like us.

Positano-Themed Wedding Favors

We gave them custom postcards with our wedding date, location, and picture of Positano. We thought this could be a good way of sharing with family members back home in the US or even just a spot to write down a memory from the day as a keepsake. I also painted custom matches for everyone with our wedding date or other Italian imagery, which we thought could be used for various reasons and were easy to travel with.

Stand-Out Vendors that Brought their Dream Villa Petite Syrene Elopement to Life

Our photographers were the most impressive additions to the day. They were fantastic to work with—helping with the layout and aesthetics of everything and hyping us up throughout the day. They are our true friends now and were such a fantastic part of our day. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Working with Elite Villas and Fabrizia was incredible. We gave minimal instructions on the vision for the day, and she made the most beautiful day. She made custom programs for us with our vows, custom boxes with rice to throw as we walked down the aisle, fans with stickers on them with our logo for our family to cool off with—everything was terrific. She planned the whole day and then was our officiant and did an incredible job! She and her entire team went above and beyond for us and made the day so fun.

Effortlessly Beautiful Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding

November 7, 2023 | justine

At first, Alex and Marcus dreamed of having their wedding in a faraway, exciting place. But then they had a realization. They wanted their closest loved ones to be there, so they needed a spot that had a relaxed, tropical feel and was easy for both their Colorado and Kansas families to get to. Luckily, Marcus had been to Playa Del Carmen before, and they knew it was just the right spot for a timeless celebration. Playing off the natural and beautiful scenery, their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen wedding balanced coastal vibes, a classic color palette, and modern style. It was everything they had ever dreamed of–a true tropical fairytale come to life.

They went all in, choosing the resort’s pool deck for their ceremony. Just imagine it: a flower-covered aisle leading to a lush arch while the ocean served as a stunning backdrop for their vows. After they became Mr. and Mrs., a private courtyard reception followed, where all-white tables with low centerpieces took center stage. Adding a touch of magic were glimmering disco balls and twinkling string lights. But the excitement didn’t end there. They set the right party vibe with confetti, marking the start of the all-night festivities.

If you’re all about achieving that effortless elegance in a tropical paradise for your wedding, don’t stop scrolling! These captivating images, beautifully captured by Junebug member Memorybox, are sure to inspire your special day.

Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

The Intimate Morning Vows That Set the Tone to Their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Day

Marcus and I began our wedding day uniquely. We woke up together in our PJs, brushed our teeth, brewed some coffee in our hotel room, and met his sister, Ashley, our officiant, at sunrise on the beachside deck. With our self-written vows and Ashley’s sermon, we had an intimate ceremony just for each other, free from cameras and onlookers. While it marked the start of our best day, our mornings usually start this way—comfy and quiet with coffee. We shared emotional vows that grounded us for the busy wedding day ahead. This private moment will forever hold a special place in our hearts as we reminisce about our wedding day.

Chic and Effortless Wedding Fashion Choices Complete With Dior Air Force Ones

I visited several bridal shops but had a clear vision: a simple, classic gown with minimal frills or embellishments, a low back for a touch of elegance and allure, and a square or high neckline. I found my perfect gown at Grace Loves Lace, paired with a cathedral-length veil. While considering changing into a reception dress, I decided my wedding dress was meant for that special day. My gown was so comfortable without any boning, and I added a hair change after the ceremony, opting for a bubble braid, a style I love, and some back jewelry. As for Marcus, he designed his custom wedding suit in Milan, Italy, by Virum Napoli. He wanted a light cream suit with a high-waisted side belt, aiming for a timeless, classic, and effortless look that would never go out of style. We both switched into our Dior Air Force Ones for the reception, ready to dance the night away.

How Setting Wedding Priorities Shaped Their Venue Search

Marcus and I took a moment to identify our top three wedding priorities. For me, it was marrying the love of my life, guest logistics, and creating a memorable party. On the other hand, Marcus valued having a stress-free wedding day, ensuring guest happiness, and having awesome music and fun. With these priorities in mind, we embarked on our venue search. We both wanted a resort catering to our core needs—easy access for our guests, a smooth journey from the airport to the venue, and a fantastic hotel and vacation experience. We found it all in The Grand Hyatt, offering a personalized, 5-star wedding experience without breaking the bank. Its modern bridal aesthetic, a departure from the typical beach or boho vibe, immediately resonated with me. This choice allowed us to make the most of our Mexican adventure.

Crafting Moments and Choosing Music to Personalize Their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Ceremony

Our ceremony was highly personalized. Marcus’s older sister, Ashley, our officiant, crafted a beautiful sermon just for us. Marcus and I exchanged written vows, which I highly recommend for a personal touch. Music choice was another critical element in personalizing our ceremony. Our wedding parties and friends walked down the aisle to “Sweet Child Of Mine” by Vitamin String Quartet. Our wedding party sat in the second row of the guest seating on opposite sides of us, so we could easily see our favorite people in the crowd. I walked down the aisle to “Simply The Best” by Tina Turner. During the ceremony, my dear friend Kait read a chosen passage about marriage, love, and our journey ahead. Her husband and stepdad, Richard Simmons, escorted my mom down the aisle. Marcus and I’s processional song was “She’s So High” by Tal Bachman. There are countless unique ways to personalize your ceremony.

Intentional Decor, Food, and Music Choices That Made a Fun Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Reception Vibe

For our reception, we initially set up three columns of tables in a zig-zag style, but we quickly pivoted to a farm-style arrangement, which we ended up loving. We aimed to make the dance floor the focal point of the reception, a lively hub for everyone to enjoy an authentic fiesta. The day was full of joy, but when we hit the dance floor, it was time to let loose and dance the night away. Music and an energetic dance floor were top priorities for us. We brought in a unique hybrid DJ and instrumental band, making the dance experience even better than we imagined. The service was exceptional throughout the week and on our wedding day, and we indulged in a delicious 5-course dinner. The floral arrangements on the reception table were stunning, tastefully running the length of the farm table. Marcus was particular about avoiding tall, eye-level floral arrangements that might hinder conversation, so we maintained height with disco balls, up lights, and string lights over the reception area.

Tips for a Successful Destination Wedding

Here’s some unsolicited advice for those planning a destination wedding. First, hire a local wedding planner; they’re worth every penny for saving your sanity and bringing your dream wedding to life. Next, prioritize your wedding goals as a couple and focus on what truly matters to you. Budget wisely, then choose vendors that align with your design preferences, emphasizing what’s most important to you. Avoid going into debt, stick to your budget, and don’t stress over minor details. While social media can inspire, don’t get too caught up in trends. Design a wedding that reflects your personality. After the big day, watch out for the post-wedding blues and plan a honeymoon or a fun trip to look forward to. Most importantly, enjoy the process, have fun, and remember that it all comes together in the end, even if it feels like it’s over in the blink of an eye.

Creating a Memorable Arrival Through Useful Welcome Bags

We gave out welcome bags to our guests who stayed at the hotel and handed out the rest to those who stayed at alternate hotels during our welcome party. We put our wedding week itineraries with a QR code to our wedding website, a hotel map in the bag, water, snacks/gum, etc. Favors usually get left behind. So got items the guests would really like, use, and find beneficial to the week.

How They Created Their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Budget by Making Smart Money-Saving Choices

We had a wedding budget of around $80,000-$100,000. So we splurged on the venue for the food, DJ and band, and the florals and production to create the wedding of our dreams. We cut out a larger live band. I did my makeup and had my sister-in-law do my wedding hair. The wedding dress was also on the more cost-effective side.

Ensuring Their Guests’ Travel was Worth It by Hosting Events Throughout the Wedding Week

We aimed to provide our guests with an effortlessly relaxing vacation while celebrating our wedding, almost as a delightful bonus to their trips. This was a shared priority for Marcus and me, with our guests at the heart of our location choices. Creating a memorable wedding week experience was important, including a themed white welcome beach party, an intimate rehearsal dinner, and a post-wedding sailboat excursion for our closest friends. We wanted the day to accurately reflect Marcus and me. Which meant being selective with our guest list. We had 98 attendees out of approximately 150 invitations sent out. Every guest was personally meaningful to us.

Classically Whimsical Casa de Campo Destination Wedding

November 5, 2023 | justine

Annel and Brett really wanted a special celebration with their favorite people. So when the time came to tie the knot, they knew exactly where the ideal location would be. The bride’s childhood summers in the Dominican Republic inspired her to share her culture with their loved ones, making a Casa de Campo destination wedding the perfect choice. While the couple’s parents favored classic styles, the pair leaned towards more unique and whimsical. They challenged their wedding planners, asking them to mix these two different styles. Everything from welcome gifts to floral arrangements embraced an elevated tropical theme. It’s safe to say that their big day turned out exceptionally well, surpassing their expectations!

Set against the backdrop of a lush garden overlooking the tropical landscape, their garden ceremony was overflowing with lush white florals, creating a stunning setting for their vows. The following opulent ballroom reception dazzled with its show-stopping decor, elegant chandeliers, and dramatic lighting. The celebration was elevated further with the addition of fireworks and a shower of confetti, setting a tone of grandeur and festivity.

The couple truly went above and beyond to create an unforgettable wedding for their loved ones. Fortunately, we have stunning photos captured by the talented Juenbug member Ana Hinojosa, showcasing every special moment from this remarkable Casa de Campo destination wedding. Why They Decided to Have a Casa de Campo Destination Wedding

I spent the summers of my youth in the Dominican Republic and wanted to share my culture with my husband, friends, and future family. Casa de Campo was the perfect venue that tied in a romantic Mediterranean-style village with the vibrant personality of the Dominican Republic. My parents have a classic sense of style, while my husband and I are drawn to more whimsical and unique looks, so we challenged our wedding planners to blend the two concepts. And because of the wedding’s location, everything from the arrival gifts to the flower arrangements had roots in tropical flora.

Brett: Reading my vows to Annel. Living a moment I had thought about for quite some time was surreal. The sensation of the experience is hard to put into words—it may be best described as a natural high. I was buzzing.
Annel: Being in a room surrounded by our friends and family. I loved that no matter where I looked, my eyes locked with someone I adore and cherish. The air radiated with love, and my cheeks were sore from smiling that day.

Stand-Out Vendors That Made Their Special Day Surpass Their Expectations

All our vendors stood out in their own way, but we must shout out our wedding planning team for executing a wedding that surpassed our wildest dreams. We had four events for our wedding weekend, and they executed each with ease and a smile. Their attention to detail made each night so memorable and stress-free. Our photographer, Ana Hinojosa, was also a dream to work with. She is a force of positive energy that made our wedding day so special. We trusted her eye and direction. It was nice to enjoy our day and have complete confidence that she would capture all the emotions and everything in between.

We’re so proud of creating a memorable experience for both us and our guests. Modern and Colorful South Congress Hotel Wedding

Madison and Aaron wanted to make their wedding feel modern and reflect their love for the city of Austin, which is why they planned a special weekend for their out-of-town loved ones who came to celebrate with them. They initially dreamed of an all-white wedding, but when they discovered their florist’s incredible work, they were inspired by the vibrant flowers they could incorporate–and about five months before the big day, they changed their color palette from all-white to a burst of vivid colors. Thanks to this change, their South Congress Hotel wedding on a beautiful spring day was elevated to a whole new level. And they couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!

Their venue, located in the heart of Austin, perfectly embodied the chic and modern vibe the pair wanted for their big day. Their talented team created a stunning scene for their vows, with Nordic wooden chairs and colorful blooms lining the aisle. Lush floral pillars beautifully framed the couple, adding a touch of magic to the moment. The romance reached new heights as the celebration transitioned to the indoor reception area. The tablescape was adorned with vibrant centerpieces, but the true highlight was the breathtaking floral installation above a black and white checkered dance floor

Florals and color can transform every space into a romantic setting, and this wedding is a shining example of that enchanting magic. So keep scrolling for all the modern and floral-focused inspo beautifully captured by Junebug member Nikk Nguyen.

Going For the Minimalist Bridal Style

My bridal style vision was editorial, with simple lines and overall chic. I am not much of a bling or lace girl, so I went into bridal shopping knowing what I didn’t want. My dresses were from the designer Sarah Seven, and her whole vibe perfectly encaptured what I wanted and how I felt as a bride.

Choosing an Intimate Wedding Party to Keep their Big Day Relaxed and Calm

Getting married in our 30s, we had each been to many weddings in our day. We decided to have just our siblings and my best friend, just two people on each side, for our wedding party. Aaron has two brothers, and I have one sister and my ultimate bestie, Ellen. It made the day so much less chaotic as well. Getting ready with my mom, Aaron’s mom, my sister Delanee, and my best friend Ellen set the tone for a calm and loving day.

A Memorable Coffee Together Before the Big Day

The most memorable part of our day was waking up together and trying our best to soak it all in. We spent the night before in our suite and wanted to mitigate those nerves and “first look” anticipation. Before all the madness began, we walked in our pajamas to Manana coffee together. It set the tone for an incredible day. So many people encourage you to take moments to soak it all in. And we really did take that to heart. I don’t feel like the day escaped us or that we didn’t allow ourselves to experience the day’s magic. We truly savored every moment with each other, our families, and our guests.

A Tailored South Congress Hotel Wedding Ceremony and Personalized Vows

We each wrote our vows. We loved sharing our love with guests who traveled near and far to celebrate our day. Aaron’s best friend Ben officiated, and he gave a wonderful ceremony that was tailored to our relationship. It was light and fun, which is what we asked for.

A South Congress Hotel Wedding That Ticked All the Right Boxes

The South Congress Hotel checked all the boxes for us—a chic, modern reflection of Austin right in the heart of the city. We wanted our guests to experience the iconic street of South Congress Avenue. And all the fantastic restaurants, shops, and bars it offers without getting a ride across the city. Our wedding planner was the glue that held us all together. Without her expertise and guidance, I couldn’t have done any of this planning. She was along for the ride while I changed my vision, offered tons of resources and support, and was there from the beginning to the end.

A Unique DIY Polaroid Seating Chart

I had a vision of a Polaroid seating chart. Getting photos of each guest and showcasing them for our reception was something that everyone loved. I loved finding pictures, seeing who should be seated together, and having that vision come together.

Avoiding Planning Fatigue by Prioritizing the Essentials for Their South Congress Hotel Wedding

You can’t give one hundred percent to every detail. Choose a few things that you want to focus on. Ours was the music and the guest experience. Decision fatigue is real. And as much as you think you can give your time and energy to every aspect, it’s impossible. Hiring your team of vendors who understand your vision is essential for those small choices you may not have the time or energy to pour into.

This Moody & Sultry Latrobe’s on Royal Wedding Was a Nonstop Party

October 23, 2023 | justine

Olivia and Jordan first met at Tulane, and ever since, the vibrant city of New Orleans held a special place in their hearts. When they decided to have a destination wedding, it was clear that they wanted their special day to capture the authentic essence of the city they love. By choosing to celebrate in the heart of the French Quarter, they were confident that their guests would truly enjoy an authentic New Orleans celebration. From the lively second-line parade to the contagious energy that filled the air, their Latrobe’s on Royal wedding day perfectly reflected the city’s vibrant spirit and their deep affection for it.

The pair aimed for an intimate wedding–like being in someone’s home–and Latrobe’s on Royal was the perfect setting. Their wedding planner advised them to embrace the unique space, which they followed wholeheartedly. Their skilled team of vendors set a moody, old-world atmosphere in the historic courtyard, adorned with lanterns and lush white florals. They said their vows under a chuppah while showcasing the incredible architecture, striking a delicate balance between tradition and the venue’s charm.

The reception that followed had a chic, sophisticated lounge vibe with plush seating around the dance floor and dimmed lights to set the sultry mood. Brimming with infectious energy, the couple’s diligent planning paid off on their special day. Keep scrolling to see the stunning photos showcase the unique, personal details that made their wedding day truly one-of-a-kind–all beautifully captured by Love is Rad.

Meaningful Personal Touches During Their Latrobe’s on Royal Wedding Ceremony

My father is an incredible writer and speaker with great wit and charm. He married both of my older brothers, and there was no question that I wanted him to officiate our ceremony. It was important that our officiant knew us intimately. He has a way of speaking that quiets the room and brings people into the moment. Having a chuppah as an element of our wedding was something we wanted. Still, at the same time, we didn’t want to take away from the incredible architecture of Latrobe’s courtyard. So, the four most important people in our lives brought our chuppah towards the end of our ceremony—our two siblings, best man, and maid of honor. Each held a corner of the canopy over us while we exchanged vows. It was an amazing moment and a meaningful way to end our ceremony and head into the second line.

How Their Latrobe’s on Royal Wedding Came To Be

Having met at Tulane, New Orleans has always held a special place in our hearts. Once we decided on doing a destination wedding, we wanted our venue to feel authentic to the city, and Latrobe’s is precisely that. It was built in 1822 as the Louisiana State Bank and is one of New Orleans’ most architecturally significant buildings. The space has been restored since then but still has a very authentic feel, featuring original stonework, gas lanterns, and exposed brick. Between the French Quarter location and the rich history of the building, we knew our guests were destined to have an authentic New Orleans celebration.

An Experienced Wedding Planner is Key to a Stress-Free Experience

Our wedding planning advice is to ensure you feel connected to and understood by your wedding planner. Elyse Jennings always created a calm atmosphere and always made me feel like everything was taken care of. It rained on our wedding day, and she quickly pivoted our first look to a new location. Those photos are some of our favorite ones from the whole weekend. Her demeanor allowed us to relax and enjoy each moment, knowing every last detail was thought of.

Proudly Bucking Wedding Norms Through Their Non-Stop Party Celebration

We are most proud of the energy and vibe that we created. It was a true house party. The second line kicked off our celebration, and how we designed our lounge-style reception kept the energy level high throughout the night. I am proud that we didn’t feel pressured to adhere to typical wedding traditions. We didn’t have a sit-down dinner with speeches—we had a never-ending party. I’ll also never forget dancing the hora with the women in my family surrounding me. I think sometimes it’s difficult for brides and grooms (especially brides) to enjoy the celebration fully. But we were able to be in the moment. We truly experienced our party. They couldn’t get us off the stage.

The Ultimate Guide to Planning a Courthouse Wedding

October 19, 2023 | riley

As more couples shift away from the idea of planning a full-blown wedding with hundreds of guests, we’re seeing more and more courthouse weddings. Although they’re small, we can’t help but love when two people care about their love more than having a party, and tie the knot in their local city hall. However, while having a courthouse wedding is much simpler than a traditional wedding, there’s still a lot to know.

Whether you’re opting for this route due to budget constraints or a desire for simplicity, this ultimate guide will help you plan a memorable courthouse wedding and answer any questions you may have.

How To Plan a Courthouse Wedding

Decide on the Date and Location

Like any other wedding, the first step to planning a courthouse is deciding on the date and location. Contact your local courthouse (or one that’s in a destination you hope to visit) to inquire about available dates and times for wedding ceremonies. Many courthouses offer weekday and weekend options.

Budget for Your Courthouse Wedding

Courthouse weddings are often more budget-friendly than traditional ceremonies, but costs can vary depending on your location. Be prepared to budget for marriage license fees, officiant fees, witness fees, and any additional services or decorations you want to include. We’ll get into how much you can expect to pay for a courthouse wedding a little later.

Obtain a Marriage License

Visit your local courthouse to apply for a marriage license. Requirements and waiting periods vary by jurisdiction, so check with your local government office for specific details. Bring necessary identification and any required documents (such as your driver’s license, state I.D. card, or passport).

Decide on Your Guest List

Courthouse weddings are typically smaller affairs, so deciding who you want to invite is important. Do you want it to be just the two of you with a big party with your friends and family afterward? Or do you want your closest loved ones there? The choice is entirely up to you. However, once you have the courthouse picked out, we recommend seeing how many witnesses (if any) are required and what the maximum number of guests is.

Plan Your Vows and Ceremony

Lastly, discuss the ceremony details with the courthouse staff or your chosen officiant. You can write your own vows or use traditional ones. Whatever you choose, make it personal and meaningful to you both. There’s also no pressure to read vows if you don’t want to. That’s the best part about a wedding–it’s entirely up to you and what you’re comfortable with.

How Does a Courtyard Wedding Work?

So the wedding day has arrived, and you’re ready to say, “I do!” Now, you may be wondering what that looks like. You’ll arrive at the courthouse at the time of your appointment with your marriage license and any other required documents, as well as any witnesses (if necessary). From there, you’ll exchange rings and vows, sign your license, receive your marriage certificate, and celebrate! Yes, you read that right. It really is that simple.

How to Make a Courthouse Wedding Special

Because a courthouse wedding is such a short, simple celebration, it can be hard to figure out ways to make it even more special (because, let’s face it, it already is just by you promising forever to your significant other). However, there are a few things you can do to take things up a notch.

Bring a Bouquet of Your Favorite Flowers

Just because the wedding is smaller doesn’t mean you don’t deserve some beautiful wedding flowers. Because you don’t necessarily have other decor to worry about, you can create a bouquet that’s unquestionably yours. Include your favorite flowers, color palette, details (disco balls, anyone?), etc.

Write Your Own Vows

We know that writing your own vows isn’t for everyone, but it’s a simple, free way to make your ceremony yours. What’s more special than writing your promises straight from your heart? Then, you can re-read them every year on your anniversary.

Include a Unity Ceremony

Traditional weddings aren’t the only places you can find a unity ceremony. Whether you do a sand pouring, light a candle, or a shot of your favorite liquor, a unity ceremony offers a chance to personalize your day and give you a potential keepsake to remember the day by.

Play your Favorite Songs

One of the best parts about getting married at the courthouse is that you don’t necessarily have to worry about guest experience. You don’t have to stress out about making the perfect cocktails, having a specially curated playlist, or creating a menu everyone will enjoy. If you and your soon-to-be spouse have songs that are special to your relationship, play them during your ceremony–even if they’re a little quirky. There should be laughter on a wedding day, anyway.

Capture the Moments

At Junebug, we will always be advocates of hiring a wedding photographer–whether you elope or get married in front of 300+ guests. You’ll want to remember this day for years to come, and one of the easiest ways to do so is by looking back on photos. Because you’re saving money in other areas, this one is especially worth the splurge.

Host an After Party

Whether you decided to keep the ceremony between the two of you or you included friends and family, keep the party going with an after-party. This could look like dinner at your favorite restaurant, a karaoke sesh at a nearby bar, hitting a club for a night of dancing, or a bonfire.

What to Wear to a Courthouse Wedding

Although more couples are going the untraditional route for attire at traditional weddings, we’re seeing it even more so at courthouse weddings. These weddings are often more casual, which typically leads to more relaxed attire. However, at the end of the day, what you wear should reflect your personal style. If you want to look and feel like you would at a big wedding, wear that white dress and veil or suit–even if you do feel overdressed. Not one to dress up? Opt for casual attire like a mini dress or button-down shirt and slacks. The possibilities are endless.

How Much Does a Courthouse Wedding Cost?

Courthouse wedding costs can vary depending on your location. However, on average, you can expect to pay about $120 for a relatively simple ceremony. In some cities (such as San Francisco and Santa Barbara), you can rent out space within the courthouse to allow you to have more guests and more time. This can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500, depending on where you’re tying the knot. This may be worth looking into if you want more than ten guests.

How Long Does a Courthouse Wedding Take?

The duration of a courthouse wedding can vary, but the ceremony itself is usually brief, typically lasting 15-30 minutes. The entire wedding planning process–from applying for a marriage license to the ceremony–can take a few weeks to a few months, depending on your location and any waiting periods for the license.

Remember, a courthouse wedding can be just as meaningful and memorable as a traditional one. What matters most is your love and commitment to each other. Ready to tie the knot to the love of your life at your local courthouse? Still trying to decide what to wear? Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered with these 30 wedding dresses that are simple yet special.

Desert Disco Rimrock Ranch Wedding in Pioneer Town

October 14, 2023 | justine

Cassandra and Jay, completely enchanted by the desert’s charm, set off on an exciting adventure. While Cassandra typically specializes in photographing lush tropical weddings, when it came to her own, she yearned for something entirely unique. The desert in Pioneertown, with its enchanting dusty hues and rolling low mountains, turned out to be the perfect canvas for their dream celebration. With the help of their top-notch vendors, they transformed their Rimrock Ranch wedding venue into the ultimate setting for their rustic desert disco-themed celebration.

With a geometric arch beautifully framing the desert oasis in the background, the couple exchanged their heartfelt vows. The on-site reception was a charming al fresco dining setup beneath disco balls and string lights, all complemented by a chic teepee lounge. It was a romantic California desert wedding, made even more special by the breathtaking view!

If you’re a fan of dreamy boho vibes, then prepare to be blown away. Their special day was brimming with stunning details and panoramic desert views, all beautifully captured by Junebug member Julieta Rabadan. Keep scrolling to see exactly what we mean!

The Couple:

Cassandra and Jayson

The Wedding:

Rimrock Ranch, California, United States

Embracing Authenticity Through Wedding Fashion

I love Rue de Seine wedding gowns and fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on. I wore my own boots that I’ve had for a few years and my favorite gold earrings that I wear all the time. I wanted to feel like me on my wedding day instead of getting overly glammed into someone unrecognizable. And my patterned Rue de Seine wedding dress was the only dress I can imagine having worn for the occasion.

A Desert Love Affair: Choosing The Perfect Wedding Setting

I’m from Miami, but I’ve always loved the desert and the vibe and aesthetic that it offers. As a wedding photographer, I wanted a different look to my wedding than what I’m used to shooting in a lush tropical climate. So the dusty hues, low mountains, and dry vegetation around Joshua Tree and Pioneertown were perfect for us. I fell in love with Rimrock Ranch when I toured the venue and hired Julieta Rabadan to photograph it because we’ve worked together a lot on weddings before, and I knew she would do an incredible job. My friend, Megan Morrison with 9 Lives Designs, is an amazing wedding designer and planner, so she put together the decor, florals, backdrop, and rentals and made the day happen.

Why a Rimrock Ranch Wedding Was the Right Choice for Them

Rimrock Ranch was the perfect venue for our vision, with mountains in the background, Joshua trees on the property, thoughtful little touches of character everywhere, and guest accommodations. Gwen Barker, who runs Rimrock, was a great help in planning our day from the start. Keeping the rustic, desert disco aesthetic I had in mind and having the best vendors to help make it happen.

Personalizing Their Ceremony With a Unique Take on Their Vows

Our officiant Celene de Miranda from Wedding in the Desert, was super in tune with what we had in mind and tailored a beautiful, intimate ceremony for us, with poems she had us choose and a fun style for our vows. We wrote them but read them together, alternating line by line.

Wedding Planning Advice: Trust Your Instincts

Go with your gut, and don’t do or plan things just because you think it’s what other people want. This day is about you and should reflect your style and vision. I am proud of the team I assembled to make the day happen. Marrying the love of my life in such a magical place, surrounded by my favorite people, and having my talented friends as my photographer and planner.

Setting The Right Wedding Vibe With Music

My friend Mark Brickman is a DJ in Miami and graciously played at our wedding even though he’s not at all a wedding DJ. He set the vibe for the day and played our requests. I walked down the aisle to Petite Noir’s “MDR,” our recessional song was “Babe, We’re Gonna Love Tonight” by Lime, and our first dance song was Hot Chip’s “Look At Where We Are.” The rest of the night was disco vibes.

Personalized Wedding Gift Bags And Jewelry

We made everyone a little gift bag that included a drawing by my husband, a bandana, a disco ball keychain, a metal collapsible straw, and electrolyte powder packets. I also gave my close girlfriends jewelry from Ink + Alloy.

There’s nothing quite like a picturesque, secluded spot to enhance the romance—just like this desert celebration. More often than not, the backdrop of a wedding sets the tone. Chic White & Gold Villa La Joya Wedding

October 11, 2023 | justine

Malak and Jaryn wanted an outdoor wedding with all the charm of a backyard celebration but with an added touch of glamor and style. So, they tossed aside the idea of a traditional wedding and embarked on a destination adventure. They discovered the perfect location in Mexico, and their special day transformed into a tropical fairy tale. With a stunning venue, beautiful florals, a classic color palette, and chic attire, their Villa La Joya wedding had all the ingredients of a timeless celebration.

The team of talented vendors turned the villa’s lawn by the water into a gorgeous spot for the ceremony. To make it even more special, they lined the walkway with lush white blooms and built a one-of-a-kind arch to frame the beautiful views. With the backdrop of the ocean and lush tropical scenery, it was the perfect romantic setting for saying “I do.” At the reception, guests were treated to stylish lounges and an all-white tablescape with gold accents. To cap off the night, the couple danced to the magical display of firework fountains, ending the celebration with a bang!

If your wedding vibe is timeless meets modern romance, then this is the perfect inspiration for you. Luckily, this stunning day was beautifully captured by Diptych Studio. So, keep scrolling for ideas that will always be in vogue and never go out of style.

The Couple:

Malak and Jaryn

The Wedding:

Villa La Joya, Playa Del Carmen, Cancun, Mexico

Supporting Local Creatives Through the Bridal Fashion

As a fashion stylist, my wedding outfits were essential to me. I come from Nashville and wanted to collaborate with local black creatives for my wedding looks. I aimed for a timeless style with lace and pearls for the ceremony, choosing soft pink and nude makeup to match the outdoor setting. My hair was elegantly done in finger waves with pearl touches, and my dress and shoes featured lace and pearl details. I carried a bouquet of white roses down the aisle. My getting-ready robe had dramatic bell sleeves with floral and feather decorations, and I added a satin corset for a 60’s pinup look. For the reception, I went for a more modern vibe with a mesh jumpsuit adorned with intricate floral and pearl details, plus a detachable tulle skirt for a romantic touch. Each element reflected my mix of classic and contemporary styles.

A Modern and Timeless Vision Brought to Life at Their Villa La Joya Wedding

We wanted a mixture of modern meets timeless aesthetic. I was definitely a Pinterest bride and wanted white and greenery with hints of gold for a timeless look, but we included acrylic elements to give it a more modern feel. My dream wedding has always been to have a “backyard wedding,” and our wedding venue gave us that and more. Villa La Joya offered us a way to have a private ceremony and reception without the onlookers of a resort-style wedding. Our wedding planner got us into contact with all of the vendors in Mexico, and everything exceeded our expectations.

Honoring Their Loved Ones Was a Priority on Their Special Day

The most important thing to us was ensuring that we included our family in moments that could have been just about us but made it much sweeter. My late grandmothers were on my bouquet as I walked down the aisle. My husband included his brothers in his mother/son dance. And I honored my late older sister by dedicating my father/daughter dance to her. Our wedding day is 100% our day, but we felt like we were celebrating them as well.

A Memorable Walk Down the Aisle and Heartfelt Vows

The most memorable part of the wedding was walking down the aisle to see my husband for the first time. It was truly an indescribable feeling, but in that moment, everything came together. Our ceremony was breathtakingly beautiful, and seeing our family and friends there made the moment that much sweeter. My husband’s wedding vows made everyone cry, and it is a moment I will never forget.

Advice From the Newlyweds: Embrace the Unpredictable Wedding Journey

It might sound like a cliché, but in the end, everything falls into place. Our engagement was longer due to the pandemic, and we were set on a destination wedding. I found myself stressing and losing confidence in my choices along the way. Trust yourself, and don’t worry too much about the little things. Most people won’t notice if something doesn’t go as planned. Just enjoy the journey!

Elevating the Wedding Experience Through Small Personalized Details

I am most proud of the details of my wedding. I tried to think about every detail possible throughout the wedding day. We stayed in Cancun, about 20 minutes away from the venue. We made sure that we had a designated playlist for the shuttles to play during the ride, gospel music upon our guests’ arrival because we got married on a Sunday, a muted color palette for the guests to wear, a custom bar cart, DJ booth, dance floor, drink stirrers, place cards, and an audio guestbook to name a few. The details are what I feel our guests appreciated the most.
