Wedding Trends for 2022

January 20, 2022 | kailey

After a year full of unpredictability and re-scheduled weddings, celebrations in 2022 are here to make a statement. This year’s couples will steer away from tradition and instead prioritize unique details. From bold colors to epic fashion, here are just a few show-stopping wedding trends we are looking forward to seeing in 2022.

1. Bold, Rainbow Color Palettes

Goodbye neutrals, hello vibrant color palettes. We’ve seen neutral colors take center stage year over year, but that won’t be the case in 2022. This year’s trending colors are filled with bold hues that symbolize bright, new beginnings.

2. Customized Neon Sign Decor

Color palettes won’t be the only thing lighting up the new year. Couples will be brightening up 2022 by adding customized neon signs in their ceremony and reception spaces. The best part about this bold wedding decor element is that it doubles as a keepsake. These signs ll last long beyond your wedding day.

3. Orchids Are The Way To Go

Orchids represent elegance, romance, and are a true celebration of rare love. With unique colors and structure, including this flower in any element of your wedding decor or bouquet is sure to wow your guests.

4. Virtual Save-the-dates

You only have one chance to make a first impression. That’s why save-the-dates are so important. They set the stage for your big day and get guests excited for what’s to come. In 2022 we see paperless save-the-dates become increasingly popular to save money and time.

5. Colorful Wedding Day Attire

Bright and bold are two words we’ve used to describe everything to expect in 2022. And wedding day attire is no exception. Want to rock a pink suit? Do it! Dreaming of a purple wedding dress? We’re in full support. From colorful suites to non-white wedding gowns, we expect to see it all in the new year.

6. Short Dresses

Late last year short wedding dresses hit the wedding scene and we don’t see this wedding trend going away anytime soon. With micro-weddings and elopement-styled celebrations staying popular in 2022, short wedding gowns will continue to give floor-length gowns a run for their money. The best part of rocking shorter wedding dresses is that it allows other elements to shine like your accessories, shoes, and veils.

7. More Unique Hair Accessories

Natural, up-do, braids—there are many choices when it comes to your wedding day hairstyle. But in 2022, we see hair accessories taking priority over hairstyles. Keep your eye out for hair accessories that are sure to add personality and capture attention. So get ready to leave the bridal crowns and hairpins from 2021 behind. Instead trying out new wedding trends like this pearl beaded hairstyle.

8. Goodbye Wedding Gowns, Hello Jumpsuits

Comfort or style? With wedding jumpsuits you can have both. While wearing a traditional white gown may still be a favorite of many, we’ve seen more soon-to-be newlyweds choosing alternatives like jumpsuits and pantsuits. This is the year for unconventional couples to shine!

9. Veils, Trains, and Capes—Oh My!

Speaking of veils, they’re officially back! Wedding veils, tains, and capes are a timeless bridal accessory. With a variety of different lengths and styles, adding a veil can completely transform your wedding look. You can’t go wrong with this classic wedding hair accessory—its 2022 come back is sure to prove it.

10. Destination Celebrations

People are ready to travel and that’ll be reflected in weddings throughout the year. In 2022, more couples will be looking to ditch tradition and exchange “I do’s” in an adventurous way. This is especially true when it comes to their wedding location. And we can’t think of a more romantic way to tie the knot than with a destination wedding

From bright colors to bold fashion statements, there are so many new trends that we look forward to seeing in 2022. Both new and renewed trends that’ll celebrate your uniqueness and infuse your wedding day with personality.

Chic Wedding With A Special Korean Ceremony

November 24, 2021 | riley

Today’s wedding boasts an impressive venue, sleek acrylic decor, creative floral installations, a classic monochromatic theme, the purr-fect first look, and a special Korean ceremony. Angie and Simon’s chic wedding at the Hangar 21 is the perfect combination of modern, timeless, and a good time.

For the ceremony, Angie was breathtaking in her A-line gown with floral lace applique featuring a deep plunge neckline and low open back. She then changed for the reception into a dance-worthy and trendy jumpsuit. Simon also had a great stylish moment in his classic all-black suit.

The couple honored their Korean heritage with their contemporary take of the traditional Korean wedding custom, the Paebaek. The bride wore a beautifully embroidered cream, gold, and burgundy hanbok. The groom looked equally dashing in his complementary traditional attire.

During the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and the couple’s signature cocktails while the venue was being flipped from a modern ethereal ceremony to a minimalist chic reception. If you’re looking for black and white chic wedding inspo, you’re not going to want to miss any of the stunning images captured by Kapsule Co.

The Couple:

Angie + Simon

The Wedding:

Hangar 21, Fullerton, California

A Chic Wedding Ceremony To Reception Transformation

Hangar 21 was the ultimate blank canvas that could be transformed into anything. For the ceremony, white floral arrangements and greenery adorned each row of ghost chairs and the gorgeous, understated backdrop. The amazing wedding team and vendors were hard at work creating a seamless transformation from ceremony to reception. Tables were draped in white linen to match the white Tiffany chairs then elegant monochromatic place settings were added. The themed centerpieces and repurposed decor were the perfect finishing touches to bring it together.

A Special and Customised Korean Ceremony

The couple wanted to honor their own heritage by weaving traditional elements of the Paebaek into their wedding day like the tossing and catching of chestnuts and dates, and the date kiss. They blended rituals beautifully and made it fun to share this special moment with their guests.

The Prettiest Wedding Lingerie for Your Big Day

November 21, 2021 | riley

While most elements of your wedding day style have to do with how you want to look, there’s arguably one aspect that’s even more important–how you feel. And one of the best ways to feel like your most beautiful self on your special day is to wear wedding lingerie that makes you feel like a star. From lace and frills to full-coverage support, what you wear under your gown can be just as special as the gown itself.

Colorful and Modern Garden Wedding Inspiration

November 3, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

When your wedding venue acts as a blank canvas, the possibilities are endless—and this garden wedding inspiration is proof of that. This talented team wanted to create a spring garden party filled with bright and bold colors at The Arlo—a venue of white walls, large windows, and tall ceilings. With a color palette of pink, chartreuse, and lavender, each vendor found pieces that paired together to create an intimate and cozy space.

The result was the perfect garden party with some seriously unique details. Wedding planner Bird Dog Wedding used fun couches and lounge chairs for the ceremony seating. And floral designer Rebel Floral created a bold floral installation made of colored foliage and bright flowers.

Nikk Nguyen’s Thoughts On This Garden Wedding Inspiration

Three adjectives that describe this wedding’s vibe are modern, garden, and elegant. The theme was just bold, spring, garden party, colorful loveliness. The bride’s sparkling dress was a stand-out! And we loved the groom’s pink pants. The tablescape featured florals on florals in the color palette—a vibrant spring mix of pink, chartreuse, and lavender. The use of spray-painted foliage with fresh blooms created the coolest ceremony installation. We included fun lounge seating for the ceremony, geometric-inspired cakes, and minimalist, vibrant stationery.

Utterly Chic Black And White Elopement Inspiration

October 27, 2021 | riley

Two wedding gowns, portraits in the heart of Berlin, an architecturally unique venue, and an achromatic color palette–this black and white elopement inspiration shoot is a must-see for anyone looking for modern wedding inspo. Junebug member and photographer Christine Ladehoff Fotografie teamed up with planner Ihr Hochzeitsplaner to transform the contemporary space into a dreamy wedding venue. Together they dressed it up with delicate florals from Marsano Berlin, an abundance of candles, and ethereal drapery.

While we could spend far too long describing every well-thought-out detail, we’re just going to let Christine do the talking–from the inspiration behind the shoot to why they chose this venue.

The Vision Behind This Black And White Elopement Inspiration

This styled shoot is a source of inspiration for modern and urban couples that are independent and don’t follow traditions. With its minimalist sophisticated style, this wedding inspiration brings clean colors, harmonious lines, and atmospheric light settings to life. It highlights the connection between two individuals whose love seems unshakably strong through embracing individualism, autonomy, and a modern understanding of relationships.

During the planning process, the focus was on creating an atmosphere that depicts intimacy, trust, and passion–but not in a classically romantic way. Instead, we aimed for a cool and urban approach that speaks to modern couples who have a sense of fashion, lifestyle, and who are ready to face the ups and downs of their upcoming daily life as a strong entity.

We chose The Kabbalah Centre Berlin because no other venue reflects the idea of minimalism and modernity better by its architectural features and appearance. It’s much more than the white color, the big windows, or the eye-catching ceiling. It’s also the harmonic shapes and lines that make every object and subject stand out as something exceptional.

Wedding Shoes For Every Style

August 22, 2021 | riley

Image by Aurelia Baca Photography. See more of this wedding here

When most people think of wedding attire, they think of their wedding dress, jumpsuit, or tuxedo–overlooking just how important their accessories are! From veils to jewelry to hats to shoes, your accessories take your wedding look to the next level from head to toe.

Finding the perfect pair of wedding shoes is not only about picking out a pair that best represents your style. Your wedding shoes should also complement your venue, your overall outfit, and most importantly, be comfortable. You are going to be wearing them for hours at a time, after all.

To help narrow down your search in the wide world that is wedding shoes, we’ve rounded up shoes of every style and color you can imagine.

Tips For Buying Wedding Shoes

Tip 1. Shop Early

Shopping last minute for your shoes will add to your wedding planning stress. If you’re doing most of your shopping online, you’ll find that sizes run out very quickly–especially if the shoes are specifically designed for weddings.

Shipping can also be delayed for various reasons, including an item being back-ordered or inclement weather. Having your shoes early will also ensure that you have the right measurements for outfit alterations in case you need the length changed.

Tip 2. Consider Your Venue

Rather than worry about the aesthetic of the venue, consider the terrain. High heels may not be practical for a garden or beach wedding where you’ll sink into the sand or grass. If you’re eloping somewhere adventurous where you’ll be doing a lot of hiking, wedding boots are going to be your best bet.

Tip 3. Think About What You Wear Everyday

Do you feel confident about wearing 4-inch heels for eight hours? Or do you typically wear sandals and flats? While your wedding day is one of the few days that you get to wear over-the-top attire, comfort is key. If you do prefer sneakers or sandals in your everyday life, but wearing a heel is important, there are low heel wedding shoe options that are both beautiful and easy to walk in.

Tip 4. Break Them In Before The Big Day

Try them on over and over and over. Wear them while you do everyday activities and chores around the house. Maybe even practice dancing in them with your soon-to-be partner. Whatever you do, try to keep them as clean as possible in case you need to return them.

Tip 5. Have A Backup Pair

Even if you absolutely adore the shoes you’ve picked, having a backup pair of shoes will save the day if you run into any comfort problems or wardrobe malfunctions. That way, you won’t have a last minute shoe emergency if there’s a broken strap or problems with the soles. After all, there’s room in your wedding day emergency kit for just that reason.

Tip 6. You Can Have More Than One Pair Of Shoes

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having multiple pairs of shoes for your special day, either. If you’re set on wearing heels to your ceremony but want to be comfortable while you dance the night away, switch into a pair of sandals or sneakers!

Flat And Sandal Wedding Shoes

Flats and sandals are going to be the most comfortable options out of all of the wedding shoes. They’re great for every venue option and style. If you’re tying in the knot in the spring or summer, these are the perfect shoes for you. If your special day is in the winter but you still want to wear something with no heel, consider a flat so that your toes remain covered and cozy.

1.Cassidy Evening Flat 2. Jude Evening Flats 3. Batavia Flat 4. Solita Sandal 5. Tessy Embellished Sandal 6. Adora Skimmer Flat

Low Heel Wedding Shoes

1.Doran Strappy Sandal 2. Ariella Sandal 3. Jayne Sandal 4. Marilee Ankle Strap Sandal 5. Giralda Mid-Heel Mules 6. Liraven Pumps 7. Tanzi Pump 8. Unisa Danai Sandal 9. Tillary Pointed Toe Mule 10. Zippy Pump 11. Connor Wedge Sandal 12. Noura Slingback Sandal 13. Reagan Embellished Wedge 14. Embroidered Lace Pointed Toe Pump 15. Sheela Heels

High Heel Wedding Shoes

If you’re one of the brave ones looking to wear high heels on your wedding day, we commend you. While these heels may not be the most comfortable, they sure are stunning. And as we mentioned earlier, there’s nothing wrong with rocking these for your ceremony and changing into comfy sandals later in the night!

You’ve selected the easy wedding hairstyle you want to rock on your big day. Now it’s time to tie your bridal look together by accessorizing it. When it comes to bridal hair accessories, there are so many options to choose from. Some of our favorites being hairpins, veils, and bridal crowns.

Traditional Wedding Veil

Wedding veils are a timeless bridal accessory. With a variety of different lengths and styles, adding a veil can completely transform your wedding look. A Ballerina style lands anywhere from the knee to ankle. A cathedral veil is long, dramatic, and typically grazes the floor. The blusher is a popular tulle veil that’s short in length and conceals the face when walking down the aisle. No matter which length or style you choose, you can’t go wrong with this traditional wedding hair accessory.

40s Inspired Birdcage Veil

If you’re looking for subtle ways to infuse retro details into your wedding, a birdcage veil is perfect for you. It’s a short mesh or netting hairpiece that covers part of the face. This 40s inspired hair accessory is a unique way to jazz up any wedding look.

Incorporate Florals

There are many ways to dress up an ordinary hairstyle with flowers. Odds are if you’ve scrolled through Pinterest you’ve seen varieties of infamous flower crowns, but this isn’t your only option. For a cohesive wedding feel, try incorporating subtle floral accents that match your bouquet. If you’re ready to move forward with this option, be sure to talk to your florist ahead of time. They’ll be able to provide flowers similar to those used in your floral arrangements

Whimsical And Colorful Micro Wedding

July 15, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

Creating a uniquely you wedding is half the fun of planning a wedding! To kick off their fun planning adventure, Hilary and Mike brought their keen eyes for art to their colorful micro wedding. Using a color palette of electric blue, gold, and maroon, they added bold and unique decor to their wedding. Everything worked perfectly from the metallic streamers, vinyl-wrapped blocks, disco balls, and flower-infused balloon arch. You could say that color was definitely not in short supply. Junebug member Jeff Gilmer Photography describes it as, “80s prom meets Dr. Suess meets Studio 54” and we have to agree.

To add to the bold colors of the day, Hilary rocked some amazing wedding day fashion. She paired bold red shoes with her crisp white wide-leg trousers and twirl-worthy top. We can’t forget to mention her second outfit—a head-to-toe gold reception outfit

These photos captured by Junebug member Jeff Gilmer Photography might just inspire you to add more color and playfulness to your wedding day! Keep scrolling to get inspired.

Having Their First Dance

Our first dance was our little nod to tradition. Considering that we hadn’t even committed to doing a choreographed dance until about a month before the big day, we can’t believe how much fun it was. We took three lessons with Lisa at Love Dance HTX and learned a classic waltz to “Love” by Nancy Adams which was written for Disney’s 1973 film “Robin Hood”. It’s such a simple and nostalgic song, and we’re lucky to relive that moment whenever we listen to it.

A Ceremony Inspired By Traditions

We knew we wanted our ceremony to be inspired by the Quaker marriage tradition. We deeply connect to its simple, egalitarian nature, as well as the value placed on silent reflection and on participation from family and friends. Also, we wrote our own vows in little notebooks which we now keep behind the frame of our ceremony certificate, signed by everyone who shared that day with us.

Creating Their Perfect Wedding

The most important part about planning was having fun! Neither of us come from a background of religious customs or family traditions. So, we had the privilege of planning our idea of a great time. We settled on love and gratitude on a backdrop of cocktails, comfort food, and groovy music as our inspiration.

DIY-ing Their Colorful Micro Wedding

The most special element that we DIY’d was our invitations. Using an image that our photographer Jeff Gilmer took at our engagement shoot, we worked with our dear friend and art school professor, Patrick Masterson, to make an edition of 100 four-color screen prints. It was an amazing way to connect the memories from our relationship with the future of our marriage. We also designed all of the ephemera for the save-the-date, ceremony program, cocktail napkins, koozies, and matchboxes. Then, we built and painted the cubes for the photo backdrop, seating info display, and table numbers.

Glamorous Outdoor 60s Inspired Wedding

June 22, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

Embroidered bridal denim jackets, disco balls, and a bold, orange color palette—talk about a totally groovy wedding. Golden Vibes Photo and her talented team of wedding vendors made their 60s inspired wedding dreams come to life! Together, they took inspiration from the “flower power” era then blended retro and modern elements together.

To add to the groovy glamorous vibe, one of the brides wore a lace, wide-leg jumpsuit paired with a Bridget Bardot-type hairstyle. The other bride rocked an off-the-shoulder lace wedding gown paired with bold, rainbow earrings—very Stevie Nicks-inspired. While the wedding day fashion was—dare we say—bitchin’, the floral tambourines really made this wedding unique and inspiring.

These totally pin-worthy images captured by Golden Vibes Photo may have you thinking about a decade-inspired wedding, so feel free to Pin this one for later.
