Fun, Beautiful, and Mixed-Tradition Outdoor Ranch Wedding

January 18, 2021 | riley

Amanda and Marc’s outdoor ranch wedding was the epitome of playful, and it has us dreaming of the warm summer days ahead. The couple’s priority was to have fun and make for an unforgettable experience for their guests. With the help of planner Sage Nines, their “I do’s” included bright colors, a whole lot of fringe, and a late-night swim.

The floral printed mismatched bridesmaid dresses perfectly complemented the bold color palette the couple chose. We can’t get enough of Amanda’s A La Robe sheath gown that she paired with a Dan Jones tulle overskirt. Her fishtail braid with real flowers completed the free-spirited, boho look beautifully.

A Wedding Day Mishap

On the day of the wedding, Marc lost his wallet, keys, phone, and left the wedding rings in the Memphis hotel an hour away from the ranch. Everything was eventually found, but it was all very surprising–for everyone but Amanda.

A Bourbon Ceremony

We incorporated a Southern tradition of a bourbon ceremony. Superstition has it that if an engaged couple planning to have an outdoor wedding bury a bottle of bourbon upside-down near the place where they will say their vows–precisely one month before the ceremony–then it won’t rain on their wedding day. Then, on the wedding day, they dig up the bourbon and share it with their guests. Marc unburied our bourbon during the ceremony.

A Memorable Dip In The Pool

Knowing it would be hot, we prepped a supply of bathing suits for everyone so we could bring the party to the pool at the end of the night—not knowing how many people would be into it. The most memorable part of the wedding was definitely when everyone–including, eventually, the band–started changing into the bathing suits and busted them out on the dance floor before heading to the afterparty in the pool. At the afterparty, the DJ played 90s hits, and everyone danced in the pool.
