At first, Alex and Marcus dreamed of having their wedding in a faraway, exciting place. But then they had a realization. They wanted their closest loved ones to be there, so they needed a spot that had a relaxed, tropical feel and was easy for both their Colorado and Kansas families to get to. Luckily, Marcus had been to Playa Del Carmen before, and they knew it was just the right spot for a timeless celebration. Playing off the natural and beautiful scenery, their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen wedding balanced coastal vibes, a classic color palette, and modern style. It was everything they had ever dreamed of–a true tropical fairytale come to life.
They went all in, choosing the resort’s pool deck for their ceremony. Just imagine it: a flower-covered aisle leading to a lush arch while the ocean served as a stunning backdrop for their vows. After they became Mr. and Mrs., a private courtyard reception followed, where all-white tables with low centerpieces took center stage. Adding a touch of magic were glimmering disco balls and twinkling string lights. But the excitement didn’t end there. They set the right party vibe with confetti, marking the start of the all-night festivities.

The Intimate Morning Vows That Set the Tone to Their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Day
Marcus and I began our wedding day uniquely. We woke up together in our PJs, brushed our teeth, brewed some coffee in our hotel room, and met his sister, Ashley, our officiant, at sunrise on the beachside deck. With our self-written vows and Ashley’s sermon, we had an intimate ceremony just for each other, free from cameras and onlookers. While it marked the start of our best day, our mornings usually start this way—comfy and quiet with coffee. We shared emotional vows that grounded us for the busy wedding day ahead. This private moment will forever hold a special place in our hearts as we reminisce about our wedding day.
Chic and Effortless Wedding Fashion Choices Complete With Dior Air Force Ones
I visited several bridal shops but had a clear vision: a simple, classic gown with minimal frills or embellishments, a low back for a touch of elegance and allure, and a square or high neckline. I found my perfect gown at Grace Loves Lace, paired with a cathedral-length veil. While considering changing into a reception dress, I decided my wedding dress was meant for that special day. My gown was so comfortable without any boning, and I added a hair change after the ceremony, opting for a bubble braid, a style I love, and some back jewelry. As for Marcus, he designed his custom wedding suit in Milan, Italy, by Virum Napoli. He wanted a light cream suit with a high-waisted side belt, aiming for a timeless, classic, and effortless look that would never go out of style. We both switched into our Dior Air Force Ones for the reception, ready to dance the night away.
How Setting Wedding Priorities Shaped Their Venue Search
Marcus and I took a moment to identify our top three wedding priorities. For me, it was marrying the love of my life, guest logistics, and creating a memorable party. On the other hand, Marcus valued having a stress-free wedding day, ensuring guest happiness, and having awesome music and fun. With these priorities in mind, we embarked on our venue search. We both wanted a resort catering to our core needs—easy access for our guests, a smooth journey from the airport to the venue, and a fantastic hotel and vacation experience. We found it all in The Grand Hyatt, offering a personalized, 5-star wedding experience without breaking the bank. Its modern bridal aesthetic, a departure from the typical beach or boho vibe, immediately resonated with me. This choice allowed us to make the most of our Mexican adventure.
Crafting Moments and Choosing Music to Personalize Their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Ceremony
Our ceremony was highly personalized. Marcus’s older sister, Ashley, our officiant, crafted a beautiful sermon just for us. Marcus and I exchanged written vows, which I highly recommend for a personal touch. Music choice was another critical element in personalizing our ceremony. Our wedding parties and friends walked down the aisle to “Sweet Child Of Mine” by Vitamin String Quartet. Our wedding party sat in the second row of the guest seating on opposite sides of us, so we could easily see our favorite people in the crowd. I walked down the aisle to “Simply The Best” by Tina Turner. During the ceremony, my dear friend Kait read a chosen passage about marriage, love, and our journey ahead. Her husband and stepdad, Richard Simmons, escorted my mom down the aisle. Marcus and I’s processional song was “She’s So High” by Tal Bachman. There are countless unique ways to personalize your ceremony.
Intentional Decor, Food, and Music Choices That Made a Fun Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Reception Vibe
For our reception, we initially set up three columns of tables in a zig-zag style, but we quickly pivoted to a farm-style arrangement, which we ended up loving. We aimed to make the dance floor the focal point of the reception, a lively hub for everyone to enjoy an authentic fiesta. The day was full of joy, but when we hit the dance floor, it was time to let loose and dance the night away. Music and an energetic dance floor were top priorities for us. We brought in a unique hybrid DJ and instrumental band, making the dance experience even better than we imagined. The service was exceptional throughout the week and on our wedding day, and we indulged in a delicious 5-course dinner. The floral arrangements on the reception table were stunning, tastefully running the length of the farm table. Marcus was particular about avoiding tall, eye-level floral arrangements that might hinder conversation, so we maintained height with disco balls, up lights, and string lights over the reception area.
Tips for a Successful Destination Wedding
Here’s some unsolicited advice for those planning a destination wedding. First, hire a local wedding planner; they’re worth every penny for saving your sanity and bringing your dream wedding to life. Next, prioritize your wedding goals as a couple and focus on what truly matters to you. Budget wisely, then choose vendors that align with your design preferences, emphasizing what’s most important to you. Avoid going into debt, stick to your budget, and don’t stress over minor details. While social media can inspire, don’t get too caught up in trends. Design a wedding that reflects your personality. After the big day, watch out for the post-wedding blues and plan a honeymoon or a fun trip to look forward to. Most importantly, enjoy the process, have fun, and remember that it all comes together in the end, even if it feels like it’s over in the blink of an eye.
Creating a Memorable Arrival Through Useful Welcome Bags
We gave out welcome bags to our guests who stayed at the hotel and handed out the rest to those who stayed at alternate hotels during our welcome party. We put our wedding week itineraries with a QR code to our wedding website, a hotel map in the bag, water, snacks/gum, etc. Favors usually get left behind. So got items the guests would really like, use, and find beneficial to the week.
How They Created Their Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Wedding Budget by Making Smart Money-Saving Choices
We had a wedding budget of around $80,000-$100,000. So we splurged on the venue for the food, DJ and band, and the florals and production to create the wedding of our dreams. We cut out a larger live band. I did my makeup and had my sister-in-law do my wedding hair. The wedding dress was also on the more cost-effective side.
Ensuring Their Guests’ Travel was Worth It by Hosting Events Throughout the Wedding Week
We aimed to provide our guests with an effortlessly relaxing vacation while celebrating our wedding, almost as a delightful bonus to their trips. This was a shared priority for Marcus and me, with our guests at the heart of our location choices. Creating a memorable wedding week experience was important, including a themed white welcome beach party, an intimate rehearsal dinner, and a post-wedding sailboat excursion for our closest friends. We wanted the day to accurately reflect Marcus and me. Which meant being selective with our guest list. We had 98 attendees out of approximately 150 invitations sent out. Every guest was personally meaningful to us.

Heather and Jordan got engaged during their very first visit to Marfa in June 2022, so when it came time to start planning their wedding, they knew they wanted to share this special place with their loved ones. They cared about ensuring their guests had a great time, especially since many were coming from different parts of the country. From the welcome party to the sunset stargazing and every moment in between, their intimate Marfa wedding was just that.
Their big day began with a simple and beautiful courthouse ceremony. As unique as the artsy town of Marfa itself, the couple’s portraits around town showcased a mix of cool minimalist art and culture. Following that, they threw an El Cosmico reception that brought together the Wild West with a desert festival twist. But the fun didn’t stop there. It kept going all through the night with an epic karaoke after-party.
If your wedding vibe is artistic with a touch of Texan charm, you’re in for a treat as you browse through these remarkable photos skillfully captured by Eyeronic Love. Be sure to take notes on the creative and unique ways they personalized their big day to reflect their love story, as these ideas can inspire your own upcoming celebration.
Utilizing the Desert Aesthetic at Their Intimate Marfa Wedding
A lot of our wedding took shape out of inspiration from the local landscape, art, and culture of Marfa. Jordan and I got engaged on our first trip to Marfa in June 2022. Once we began wedding planning, it became clear that bringing our loved ones to this special place would make for an unforgettable event. At the outset, we knew we wanted to create an experience for all that was both fun and joyful. We wanted our guests to soak in their surroundings and feel like an important part of our celebrations. Our goal was to create an environment that felt natural but not “boho.” We wanted to work with the desert by utilizing wildflowers and tumbleweed.
Carving Out Quiet Moments Just for the Two of Them at Their Intimate Marfa Wedding
Having our friends and family (some meeting each other for the first time) come from all over the country to be with us on our wedding day was something we will always treasure. However, the most memorable part of our wedding day for me was not the amazing welcome BBQ, leather-stamping, or the after-party karaoke, but the moments before our ceremony. It was the quiet moments of her getting ready and us walking hand in hand up to the courthouse to start the next chapter of our lives. We decided to have a private reading of our vows before the ceremony. During that, I felt so connected to Heather and overtaken with love and passion for her. And just beyond proud of us and everything we accomplished to get to that moment.
The Perfect Blend of Tradition and Authenticity at Their Courthouse Ceremony
A courthouse ceremony perfectly solved our problem of balancing formality and tradition with authenticity. Our wedding ceremony was held at the historic Presidio County Courthouse. I walked down the aisle to Florence & the Machine’s “Stand By Me” cover, and my grandpa told people to put their phones away during the “social media minute.” It was all absolutely perfect.
A Flower-Filled Courthouse Exit Made for the Couple’s Favorite Photos
As Jordan and I took portraits in the dome of the courthouse, my woman of honor worked to corral our guests outside and disperse small bags of flower petals. As we exited the courthouse and our guests showered us with jasmine flowers, I felt absolutely overcome with love and celebration. All of our wedding photos are stunning, but these were the ones that immediately brought tears to my eyes. The love and joy from our wedding are beautifully captured in these photos and this memory.
Wedding Advice: Set Wedding Expense Priorities
My advice is to work with your partner to identify your top wedding priorities early on. Almost every step of the process will cost more than you expect. If you have already decided that certain things are or are not worth the splurge, you can handle the surprises better.
Keeping Their Guests Entertained Throughout Their Wedding Weekend With Leather Crafting, Karaoke & Stargazing
Our reception was a classic drinks, dinner, and dancing just down the road at El Cosmico. We also decided to bring in a vendor that does leather crafting. The crew from Artisan Oddities was so friendly and helped our guests create handmade mementos with Texan flair. Our guest list was quite small, so we knew we’d have to get creative to build up the party vibe we were going for. After the reception dance party ended at 10 P.M., we invited everyone out to a karaoke after-party. And they showed up! Karaoke with our guests was an absolute highlight. We were watching the videos back and laughing about everyone’s song choices is so fun. We took it easy the next day and invited everyone out for stargazing at sundown. West Texas has some of the darkest sky in North America, and everyone was looking for the famed Marfa Lights.
Guest Experience was Their Top Priority at Their Intimate Marfa Wedding
Most of our guests had to fly to El Paso and then rent a car for a three-hour road trip to arrive at our wedding venue. So we wanted them to leave with fond memories of our ceremony, reception, Marfa, and the larger Trans-Pecos region. We kicked things off with a welcome party to get everyone acquainted. As guests departed, we returned them to their hotels and Airbnb with welcome boxes filled with a few of our favorite things. Our wedding was an absolute dream and felt so authentic to us. Where most wedding celebrations span an afternoon or evening, we were fortunate to celebrate with our loved ones over a few days in the Far West Texas desert.
Congratulations to Heather and Jordan on their eccentric and intimate Marfa wedding. And a big thank you to Eyeronic Love for capturing all the unique touches and unforgettable moments on the happiest day of their lives.
Going to a wedding can be a big commitment for guests in terms of both time and money. So, why not make it a memorable experience for your loved ones, just as this couple did. Adding little touches like a warm welcome celebration, some fun entertainment, and an exciting after-party can make your guests feel extra special. It’s all about making the day not just about you and your partner. But also about celebrating your love with the people who mean the most to you.
By our third day in Cabo, I still couldn’t distinguish whether I was experiencing reality or a remarkably vivid fever dream. The endless open skies, rolling turquoise waves, and engulfing sense of serenity can do that to you. I was lucky enough to travel with Lexi–Junebug Wedding’s Marketing Director–to two neighboring properties outside the San Jose del Cabo area to experience their wedding packages first-hand. Upon arrival, it was immediately evident that Mar del Cabo and Grand Velas would be idyllic locations for a destination wedding. To get married at either is to get married in paradise.
Our luxurious experience began from the moment we landed. The following four days were full of sun, cocktails, and exquisite food. And most notably, the employees and staff were unbeliveably friendly, thoughtful, and supremely dedicated—the kind of people you trust to bring your wedding vision to life. While the scenery was picturesque and the food delicious, it was truly the hospitality that made our stay unforgettable.
After experiencing everything these hotels had to offer, Lexi and I designed the ideal destination wedding itineraries for each property. Mar del Cabo is a stunning boutique hotel with a more intimate vibe, while Grand Velas is a large, luxurious resort perfect for big celebrations. So whatever you envision, we hope these schedules can be a stepping stone to planning your dream Cabo wedding.
Intimate Destination Wedding at Mar del Cabo
Mar del Cabo is a quaint boutique hotel with immeasurable charm. The property feels like a beautiful mesh of coastal Mexico and Santorini with its bright white walls, blue doorways, terracotta tile roofs, and endless bougainvillea. The property is for ages 16 and up–though if you rent out the hotel for your wedding, children of all ages can join. There are 46 suites and two penthouses, a restaurant, a large pool, an upstairs terrace, private beach access, and a garden overlooking the ocean. It’s one of the most magical settings for an intimate destination wedding we’ve witnessed.

Day One: Check-in and Welcome Party
Have your guests arrive in San Jose del Cabo mid-day and settle into their cozy suites at their own pace. They can explore the property, lounge on the beach, and grab lunch at Encanto before the welcome party at 7:30 pm. The pool bar is the perfect space to host the event. Just add hightop tables, a DJ, and a few extra lights. Kick off a fun weekend by mingling with your loved ones while the sun sets.

Day Two: Pool Party and Rehearsal Dinner
Your guests can start their day with breakfast at Encanto before a 1 pm pool party. And, if you can make it happen, we highly recommend catching the sunrise at least one of the mornings you’re there. You won’t regret it. Guests can order lunch and drinks while swimming–that’s right, staff will serve you on floating trays in the pool.
Have brunch served at Mar del Cabo’s pool.
Hold the wedding rehearsal at 6 pm with a rehearsal dinner on the Encanto Terrace at 8 pm. Live music would be a great addition to this gorgeous space. And for dinner, you can’t go wrong with serving Encanto’s tasty taco and cocktail pairings.

Day Three: It’s Wedding Day!
On the big day, keep the schedule light and flexible. Guests can even venture off into the city while you relax at the property. One of the two Mar del Cabo penthouses is an ideal wedding suite for the bride and her bridesmaids. Set the ceremony for 5 pm on the Sun Terrace, a beautiful elevated grassy area that overlooks the Sea of Cortez. Cocktail hour can follow on the Patio del Mar, then the reception on the beach. You’ll dance the night away on a private beach underneath the stars.
Junebug Tip: Don’t forget to sneak away with your photographer for some golden hour portraits throughout the property during the reception!

Day Four: Brunch & Check-out
Have a final brunch at Encanto before checkout.
Elegant Destination Wedding at Grand Velas Los Cabos
If you envision a bigger–and dare I say grander–event, Grand Velas Los Cabos may be the venue for you. Grand Velas is the only 5-star all-inclusive resort in all of Los Cabos. And don’t let preconceived notions of ‘all-inclusive’ fool you. This resort is the epitome of modern luxury, filled with contemporary art, beautiful architecture, and premium amenities. With seven restaurants, three pools, an enormous spa, and fun, daily activities, every day at Grand Velas will bring something new. And with professional nannies and childcare available, the whole family can join the party.

Day One: Check-in and a Beach Party
Grand Velas offers the ultimate check-in experience for wedding parties. You can skip the public–but exquisite–lobby and get escorted to a private bar for a welcome drink with your guests. Have the wedding rehearsal start at 4 pm and then head to the Velas 10 Beach for an elevated picnic experience at 6 pm. After the beach picnic, guests can head to one of the resort’s bars for a nightcap, such as Koi Bar or Sky Bar.

Day Two: The Wedding Day!
We suggest holding the ceremony on Friday, which leaves you a stress-free weekend to have fun and let loose! You undoubtedly have to begin your wedding day at the SE Spa, absorbing the serene atmosphere in the spa’s bridal suite. This 35,000 sq. ft. spa is a treat you can’t skip. Get a therapeutic massage or facial, then experience the water journey with your girls. You won’t regret it.
Water Ceremony pool–access included with every spa treatment.
Set your ceremony in the Azul Garden for 6 pm. Next, we suggest you hold your reception upstairs at the Terrazza del Mar (the largest oceanfront terrace in all of Los Cabos). Both of these spots offer plenty of space and breathtaking views.

Day Three: Yacht Excursion
If you still aren’t convinced of Grand Velas’s extravagance, maybe the property’s private yacht will do the trick. You and your guests can take the Bella Yacht onto the Sea of Cortez for the ultimate post-wedding celebration. This day is all about letting go of the stress and enjoying yourself! Once your sea excursion is over, check out one of Grand Velas’ five gourmet dinner restaurants. You can’t go wrong with any choice, but we recommend Lucca or Cocina de Artur as great farewell dinner spots.

Day Four: Beach Brunch & Goodbyes
For your last morning in Cabo, have a group brunch on Azul Beach. Soak up the sun, sand, and waves a final time before heading home.
We can’t thank the teams at Mar del Cabo and Grand Velas enough for opening their doors to us. Lexi and I haven’t stopped raving about our trip since getting home.
Remember, the two itineraries above are just our suggestions, and any wedding plan is possible at either hotel. The properties’ dedicated wedding staff have the utmost skill, experience, and passion; you could not be in better hands. Cheers to planning your unforgettable wedding celebration!
Lucie and Dave’s Flanagan Farm wedding radiated a joyful, easygoing atmosphere that perfectly mirrored their personalities. To create a sense of familiarity and comfort, they used a warm and bright color palette, lots of greenery and house plants, and even some playful touches. The whole style mixed nature and modern elements, with a fun twist added in. It was just like them—comfy, a bit silly, laid-back, and relaxed.
They chose to say ‘I do’ with the woodland sanctuary as the backdrop. They kicked off the celebration with a ceremony surrounded by towering trees, followed by a reception featuring a unique mix of lounge seating and food stations scattered all over the property. The party then moved to the barn, filled with sparkles and disco vibes. The festivities continued with all-night karaoke and a delicious pizza feast.
You might think that’s hard to beat, but wait till you see the outfits. Lucie was stunning in a Leanne Marshall wedding dress with a hand-dyed skirt that had pops of blue, green, orange, and yellow, perfectly matching the wedding colors. Dave rocked a custom green suit with special messages and important dates embroidered inside. Even their dog Kiefer suited up for the big day! If you’re looking for ideas to make your wedding fashion exciting or want to turn your backyard into a whimsical space, these photos by Henry and Mac have all the inspiration you need.
We picked the Barn at Flanagan Farm because it was just right—charming and naturally beautiful. Also, we wanted Lucie’s grandma to be there (or at least see us dressed up), and she lived close by. The place had many outdoor areas and felt cozy, with lovely views that showed off the best of Maine. It was just what we needed for our playful celebration.
Incorporating Personal Stories, Quotes, and a Toilet Paper Wrapper to the Ceremony
We made the ceremony ours in a few special ways. To begin, we wrote our own vows that were all about us and our journey together. Our officiant, a close friend, added humor, stories about us, and meaningful quotes to the ceremony, making it feel like “us.” I had a surprise for Dave too. I brought out the toilet paper wrapper he gave me the night we met (yes, seriously!). It was a funny and sweet gesture that made everyone laugh.
Custom Cornhole Lawn Games and Pickleback Shots: How They Made Their Day Theirs
We wanted our day to be genuinely us. So we added personal touches that made it special. We had custom cornhole boards with our wedding design and even treated everyone to a pickleback shot before the ceremony, something we love. Our goal was to have a day that felt real and spend quality time with our loved ones. From the vows we wrote just for each other to the meaningful gifts we exchanged, every little thing was planned carefully to make it our own. Even our dog, Kiefer, got involved by sending out the save-the-dates (with custom coasters featuring his cute face). Our invitations also showcased our unique wedding design.
Setting the Laid-Back Tone with Comfort Food and a Relaxed Timeline
Our top priority in planning our wedding was to make the most of our time with our dear loved ones, many of whom traveled long distances to be with us in Maine. We aimed to craft an atmosphere where our family and friends could unwind, have a blast, and relish our special day. That’s why we went for a more laid-back approach, with passed-around bites, food stations scattered throughout the evening, lawn games, an exciting dance party, and karaoke for the reception. We even had a coal-fired pizza truck show up for a late-night treat. And instead of the usual wedding cake, we chose delightful individual chocolate lava cakes that were incredibly delicious. We wanted everyone to feel at ease without formal schedules or assigned seats. Our focus was all about creating beautiful memories and cherishing quality time together.
Wedding Advice: Don’t Feel Pressured to Follow Every Tradition or Trend
We suggest always staying true to who you are during the wedding planning journey. You don’t have to follow every tradition or trend if it doesn’t feel like “you.” Your big day should reflect your genuine selves. Put your attention on what truly counts to both of you and make those things a priority. And don’t forget, it’s your wedding day, so enjoy it! Feel free to sprinkle your quirks and personalities into the celebration. Having some fun and breaking a few traditions can be enjoyable. We had a blast mixing our family customs with our playful and unique approaches.
How They Stayed Within Their Flanagan Farm Wedding Budget
Managing our wedding budget involved an open conversation where we discussed what truly mattered to us. We figured out the things we cared about most, like having both live music and karaoke, adding special personal details like lawn games, and getting outstanding photography. We decided to allocate more of our budget to these critical aspects. Our wedding planning team was a big help too. They researched and compared vendor prices, ensuring we could stay on track and adjust things to fit our budget.
Setting The Right Festive Mood at Their Flanagan Farm Wedding with Live Entertainment
Among our amazing vendors, Isaiah Bennett and his musicians truly shone. They played during our ceremony and cocktail hour, and their music added the perfect vibe, filling the air with happiness right from the beginning. They even took our guests’ song requests, which was a delightful surprise. Their talent was exceptional, and they brought a contagious energy that kickstarted an absolutely lively celebration.
Congratulations to Lucie and Dave on their beautiful Flanagan Farm wedding! And thank you to Henry and Mac for skillfully capturing all the moments that tell their unique love story.

Going the traditional wedding route doesn’t mean your day will lack personality. And Sophie and Sam’s Wythe Hotel wedding is your proof. While they wanted to incorporate Jewish traditions and rituals, they were still determined to create a day that celebrated their uniqueness. And with fall florals, a stunning hotel venue, and the help of wedding planner Ashley Chamblin Events, they effortlessly achieved their vision.
The industrial venue underwent a complete transformation. From floor to ceiling, every inch of The Wythe Hotel was adorned with stunning floral arrangements courtesy of Buds of Brooklyn. The ceremony was held under an elaborate chuppah that beautifully contrasted the building’s brick exterior. As for the reception space, the charm was all thanks to the lush greenery garland framing the ceiling and the dainty blooms adding personality to the moody, candle-lit banquet tables. It’s safe to say the couple successfully created a delightful haven abundant with flowers.
Every detail of this Brooklyn wedding will make you fall in love with autumnal celebrations. From the fall color palette to the deep floral combinations and the venue’s NYC skyline views, all the floral-focused inspiration captured by Amy Sims Photography is just a scroll away.
Reminder: There’s no “Right Way” to Plan a Wedding
I’m hesitant to give advice because I feel like weddings often have too many cooks in the kitchen, but if I had any advice, it would be to try to make it your own, and you don’t have to do it all! People have a lot of opinions on how a wedding “should” be, but there’s no “right way,” the most important thing is for the day to feel like you! At the end of the day, you don’t need to make a logo AND do goody bags AND a welcome party AND write your own vows AND get that shot of everyone getting ready—doing it all can be expensive, time-consuming, and just hard. Make the choices that matter to you.
Giving Siblings a Special Role in Their Ceremony
We had our siblings officiate our ceremony, Sam’s sister and Sophie’s brother. I knew it would be meaningful, but there was a moment when I was standing under the chuppah with Sam and my siblings, and looking at each of our parents in the front row and felt surprisingly overwhelmed by the symbolism of it all—the joining of families, new generations starting families, etc. It’s not that I didn’t expect it to be special, but I didn’t expect how significant it would feel in the moment.
The Importance of Handwritten Wedding Vows
We chose to write our own vows, and it ended up being most of the ceremony. As cliche and icky as it sounds, it all felt very “us.” Our siblings officiating our ceremony added that extra personalization as well.
Congratulations to Sophie and Sam on their floral-filled Wythe Hotel wedding. And a big shout out to photographer Amy Sims Photography for capturing every moment that made this celebration one for the books.
If you, too, are dreaming of a celebration where florals are the main event, there are two things you’ll need. The first is a trusted florist from our vendor directory to help make your vision a breathtaking reality, and our wedding flower checklist to ensure not a single detail is overlooked. With those two tools under your belt, there’s no floral vision impossible to pull off.
Julia and Bryan always dreamed of having a destination wedding. And with a long engagement prior to the pandemic, they had plenty of time to plan every detail starting with their venue. When they came across a video of their chosen venue, they knew it was perfect for them. Naturally secluded by its tropical fortress, the vast property immediately captured their hearts. And with a venue like this, their KIMA Tulum wedding was anything but ordinary. They chose warm colors that matched the greenery and modern architecture, adding black and neutral tones. It created a unique atmosphere that reflected their personalities as a couple and individuals.
The ceremony took place in a secluded jungle cove, with a lush arch as the focal point. For the reception, KIMA transformed into an enchanting oasis with different spaces for everyone to escape and enjoy. The dance floor had a fun disco vibe, with ethereal baby’s breath clouds and disco balls. They created a mesmerizing jungle-inspired setting, with the standout feature being the greenery and rattan pendant lamps suspended above the tablescape.
They ensured every detail had a purpose, meaning, and a personal connection. From the unique pop 60s style table numbers showcasing their love for modern mid-century to the beautifully designed dining menus with watercolor elements and a hidden hummingbird (a nod to their quirky love for birds), their attention to detail was remarkable. You can see it all through the captivating images captured by Junebug members MemoryBox. Trust us. You won’t want to miss this unforgettable celebration in paradise.
We always dreamed of a destination wedding, and with a long engagement before the pandemic, we had enough time to plan everything. Tulum was our destination for its incredible food, pleasant weather, friendly locals, beautiful nature, and unique architecture. When we stumbled upon a video featuring the very first wedding at KIMA, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. The vast and secluded property and its breathtaking beauty instantly captivated us. After visiting the venue in person, we were utterly convinced. Despite its modern style, KIMA allowed us to add our personal touch through furniture, flowers, and signage, making it the perfect setting for our special day.
Personalizing Their Ceremony By Reimagining Traditions
To create a unique and inclusive atmosphere, we chose an alternative processional. Our parents walked down the aisle together, showcasing their bond as couples, followed by the individual entrance of our bridal party. It was important to us that everyone felt acknowledged and celebrated. Adding to the enchantment, we had a talented guitarist and singer perform during the ceremony, infusing our chosen songs with their own artistic touch. Walking down the aisle to the heartfelt melodies of “Eres Tu” and “Disfruto” by Carla Morrison, beautifully crafted by a Mexican-American artist, added an extra layer of sentiment to the moment. We selected “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” as a timeless conclusion for our recessional. To make our vows genuinely personal, we exchanged heartfelt and customized promises to each other.
How Their KIMA Tulum Wedding Design Came To Be
We created a magical atmosphere blending modern, lush, fun, elegant, and whimsical elements at KIMA. The pool area became a cozy spot for drinks and relaxation, adorned with lovely candles. When night came, the candles reflected in the water, creating a magical scene. The dance floor exuded vibrant disco vibes with baby’s breath “clouds,” disco balls, and boho lanterns. The dining area immersed guests in a jungle-like experience with greenery, lanterns, and unique floral arrangements. Every detail held purpose and meaning, from the black accents complementing the venue’s iron doors to the custom-made pop 60s table numbers and watercolor menus featuring a hidden hummingbird, reflecting our quirky love for birds.
Elevating the Wedding Experience: A Harmonious Blend of Beauty, Entertainment, and Culinary Delights
Everything came together beautifully in terms of the look and the entertainment. We didn’t want our wedding to be just visually pleasing. We aimed to create an amazing guest experience with delicious food that immersed them in our journey. We had a lively flamenco band for the welcome party, a talented singer and guitarist for the ceremony, a saxophone player who joined the DJ for dancing, and a breathtaking circus performance, rivaling Cirque-du-Soleil, that amazed everyone. The food was sensational, offering a wide variety of mouthwatering options. It was a truly unforgettable experience.
Starting on a High Note With Thoughtful Welcome Bags
We prepared a stacked welcome bag for our guests with thoughtful items. The bag itself had a special touch—a Mexican hand-made tassel “ornament” that could be taken home and hung on a Christmas tree since our wedding was close to the holiday season. Inside, we included nostalgic snacks like corn nuts, Abba-Zabbas, and Oreos. We also had practical items such as locally-made mosquito repellent sticks, UV stickers, mini candles with Tulum-inspired scents from a local candle company, and a 3-in-1 flashlight, fan, and phone charger, perfect for the darker nights and warmer climate in Tulum. To help guests recover from any potential hangovers, we also provided a hangover recovery kit, including Liquid IV. We distributed woven rattan fans at the wedding, which guests used and appreciated throughout the night.
Dedicating Time To Master Their Dance Moves Paid Off
I believe our wedding dance was the highlight of the night. My best friend, who happens to be a professional ballroom dancer, choreographed it for us. We dedicated five months to perfecting the dance and attending in-person and virtual lessons with Sonya. I am incredibly proud of how it turned out. We went against the traditional route and danced to the lively tune of “Bomboleo” by the Gipsy Kings. It was a fast-paced bachata with funky footwork, and at times, I wasn’t sure if we would learn it in time. But we did it! Seeing Bryan dance brings me immeasurable joy that will last a lifetime.

Prepare to be inspired and witness how love, nature, and fashion fused beautifully at Meshal and Zander’s Lost Creek Ranch wedding. Their picturesque affair was filled with captivating details—including a fresh spring color palette, a magnificent mountain setting, and fabulous attire.
Envision a breathtaking ceremony amidst snow-capped jagged peaks, where the natural beauty of the surroundings served as the perfect backdrop. The couple let it take center stage, with only ground florals surrounding them at the altar as they exchanged heartfelt vows. For the reception, guests were greeted with elegant tablescapes adorned in lace and delicate blooms, creating an enchanting and truly romantic atmosphere.
However, it wasn’t just the stunning scenery that set their big day apart. From the welcome party and rehearsal dinner to the after-party, each outfit was carefully curated throughout their wedding weekend and will leave you in awe. Whether you’re a fashion aficionado or simply in search of spring wedding inspiration, you won’t want to miss these insights and incredible photos by Junebug members Foxtails Photography.
A Themed Welcome Party Was The Perfect Way To Start Their Wedding Weekend
They aimed to share this special time with their loved ones under the beautiful Teton Mountains. To begin their wedding weekend, Meshal and Zander hosted a western-themed welcome party, inviting their closest friends and family to celebrate with them while dressed in cowboy hats and boots. The festive atmosphere was the perfect way to set the tone for the rest of the celebration.
Junebug Member Foxtails Photography’s Thoughts On This Lost Creek Ranch Wedding
Get ready to be swept away by the fashion-forward style of this New York City couple as they tie the knot. With their eyes set on making their special day unforgettable, they knew they wanted statement pieces to set them apart. Meshal’s love for fashion was evident throughout her wedding, from her breathtaking Naeem Khan ceremony and reception dresses to her stunning Western-style custom-made cape for the welcome party. Making sure to honor the cultures of their respective families was also a priority. During the rehearsal, Meshal looked stunning in a green Elie Saab gown accentuated by gold and ruby jewelry and a maang tikka headpiece. They even had a bagpiper play during the ceremony to further honor Alexander’s Scottish heritage.
How the Couple Knew That Lost Creek Ranch Was The Perfect Venue For Their Big Day
Lost Creek Ranch was an obvious choice for the couple, as Zander’s family had been staying there for years. When Zander took Meshal to the ranch, it quickly became a special place for the couple, leading them to choose it as their ideal venue to exchange vows in front of their loved ones, with an intimate gathering of just 60 of their closest friends and family.
Opi, a wedding planner, and Joy Zamora, a wedding photographer, have both played key roles in bringing many mind-blowing celebrations to life. When it came to their time to tie the knot, it’s no surprise that the results were nothing short of magical. And to truly plan a celebration authentic to their love, this couple had no choice but to stretch their one-day wedding into a full weekend affair.
To kick off the weekend the right way, this audacious couple was joined by their guests for an outdoor Indian pre-wedding party at Tambor de Llano. The following day, the same space was transformed into a dreamy venue with cascading orange flowers by Andaluflor and distressed area rugs. The couple added personality with the addition of an arch backdrop they designed together and had hand carved in Morocco. Framing the rolling mountains in the distance, the archway resembled a doorway opening into a new shared experience.
After sealing the deal with a shot of mezcal, the real party began. The reception space was complete with one long banquet-style table that became the focal point. With pops-of-blue dinnerware, dainty floral centerpieces, and rattan pendant lights, the decor beautifully complimented the rural Spanish countryside. From the fashion to the reception tablescape, photographer The Kitcheners captured every detail nature-loving couples have been searching for.
Over the years, Joy has surprised me countless times with little unexpected gifts. I absolutely love receiving them, but I am not a big gift-giver myself. So for the wedding, I wanted to do something big for him, not only to repay him for all the thoughtful gifts but because he has always pushed me to become the person I dream of being and have the life I dream of having. So I arranged for a Motorbike to be delivered to our wedding venue, and on the morning of our wedding, I blindfolded him and led him to his surprise. He was shocked and so happy. It felt so good to start our day this way.
Loved Ones Showed Up From All Over The World For Their Tambor de Llano Wedding
I have been planning, designing, and coordinating weddings since 2015, and both Joy and I have been part of many love stories and mind-blowing celebrations, but you never quite imagine how your own wedding is going to be. We invited friends and family from all over the world– there were many small groups and clusters, and some guests even came alone. But after a few hours of meeting, it felt like one connected family. We are so proud of how our friends and family showed up for us and gave us all they had. It was beautiful, and we feel very fortunate to have such an incredible tribe.
Advice From The Bride: Everything Happens As It’s Meant To
The whole weekend was memorable, but the one moment that really stood out for us was our entrance into our Indian welcome party. A few hours before the celebrations were due to start, Joy fell quite ill, and a thunderstorm teased the summer sky (the whole event was outdoors). This wasn’t the way it was supposed to be. Now I believe it was. That everything happens as it’s meant to. During the tearful moments walking up the hill to our guests, the dhol drummed through the mountains, and the sky opened up. We were greeted with cheers and an immense amount of joy, something more powerful than we’d ever felt. It was one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. Being enveloped in kisses and hugs from the most amazing humans. It was the first time we had experienced the power of energy–all the love literally gave Joy his health back.
This Nature-Loving Couple Showed Off Their Love For Nature With Hand-Carved Ceremony Decor
Our ceremony was one of the big highlights for us; emotional, fun, and dreamy. We stood in front of a beautiful archway we designed together and had hand carved in Morocco. The arch was placed in front of the most breathtaking backdrop of mountains. We had water with jasmine flowers at our feet and a fire pit (we couldn’t light it because of being in a natural area in the height of summer). The four elements are an important part of our lives, and we wanted them to be a part of our vows.
Sealing The Deal With A Shot Of Mezcal
Our friend Ana Hinojosa, also an incredible wedding photographer, officiated our ceremony in both English and Spanish. After we said our vows, Ana surprised us with a shot of Mezcal, and when we turned to Salud our guests, we saw they all had a shot too. It was an epic moment. A sealing of some sort, and we all got to do it together. It was magic.
Hiring A Trusted Team Of Vendors Was Priority For Their Tambor de Llano Wedding
Hire a team you love and connect with because nothing can go wrong when you have people who have your back. Our videographer, Monika Frias, and photographer, The Kitcheners, created a special moment for us during our first dance. They had all of our guests put their phone lights on, so when we danced to ‘No Stars’ by Rebekah Del Rio, all we could see were stars around us. Thanks to our vendors, it was a magical moment we’ll remember forever.
Congratulations to Opi and Joy on their Tambor de Llano wedding. And big thanks to photographer The Kitcheners for capturing the full weekend of festivities, planned with intention and a whole lot of love. This celebration will have couples re-evaluating their priorities and breaking free of those traditional wedding boundaries.

Your best friend asked you to marry them, and now you’re ready to enjoy the bliss of being engaged and planning your wedding. If you’ve never planned a wedding before–and we’re guessing you haven’t–the entire process can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to finances.
While some couples receive money from their family and friends, we know this isn’t an option for everyone. We also know just how expensive weddings can be. According to The Knot, the average wedding in 2021 was $28,000. That’s far from chump change.
Though the option of taking out loans is there, we understand that many couples want to avoid wedding debt, which can feel virtually impossible. But we’re here to tell you that it’s not! And we’re sharing our best tips to help you stay out of debt while still being able to enjoy the wedding of your dreams.
How To Avoid Wedding Debt
Create A Budget
There are a few steps to take before you can even begin to think about booking your vendors and venue–the first being creating a budget. Take a look at your and your partner’s saving accounts, how much money you can realistically save every month leading up to the big day, and what money (if any) you are receiving from parents or loved ones. This big-picture number will help you stay on track throughout the planning process.
Determine Your Non-Negotiables
As you start planning, you may find there are a few “must-haves” for your big day. This could be a venue you’ve had your eye on, a specific photographer, or an abundance of flowers. Whatever it may be, sit down with your partner and list your top three non-negotiables. This is where most of your budget will likely go. This will also help you cut costs in other areas that are less important to the two of you.
Don’t Forget A Miscellaneous Item Line In Your Budget
When putting together your budget spreadsheet (which we’ve already put together for you), don’t forget to include a line for miscellaneous expenses. There are quite a few unexpected costs, such as alterations, your marriage license, taxes, service fees, and more.
Create A Separate Bank Account
Creating a separate bank account that is used solely for wedding planning allows you to automate your contributions and keep track of your spending. While this may seem like a silly extra step, it can prevent you from overspending. For example, if you are just using money from your regular savings, you may spend more than you intend because the money is in the account. If you create a separate account, you can keep a certain amount in there, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
We recommend opening a high-yield saving account. This allows you to earn money by just having some in the bank. Although it may not be much, that extra $50 that you make could be what helps you get the florist you fell in love with on Instagram.
Give Yourself A Deadline
The last thing that you want to do is spend years saving up for your wedding. While your wedding is something you may have dreamed about since you were little, it’s also important to remember that it’s just a fancy party. The most important aspect of a wedding is you and your partner promising forever to one another. All of the other details are just an added bonus. That’s why it’s not worth spending years saving for a single night. Of course, you want it to be special, but don’t put it off just because you need to save. Make the deadline realistic.
Discuss Finances Often
We’re firm believers that you should be discussing finances with your partner often during the wedding planning process. If you begin to feel overwhelmed financially, have a date night where you get the focus back on just the two of you. Think about your future dreams together, whether buying a home in the near future, traveling the world, or starting a family. Focusing on saving money and not going into debt for these future aspirations will help you reel it in and remind you why you’re committing to a budget in the first place.
It should come as no surprise that Saturdays are the most popular day of the week for weddings. They’re also the most expensive. While having a weekday wedding may not be realistic for many, if you’re looking to save a little extra money, consider getting married on a Friday or Sunday. There’s nothing we love more than a Sunday brunch wedding full of delicious breakfast foods and sunshine.
Opt For A Wedding Website
While we recommend sending out physical save-the-dates and invitations to your guests, you can save money by having a wedding website. On the site, you can list all of the details about the rehearsal dinner, your welcome party, and information about the hotel room block you’ve set up, so you don’t have to have this printed on even more cards.
Host An All-Inclusive Destination Wedding
Did you know that destination weddings can actually be cheaper than traditional weddings? Especially if you choose an all-inclusive venue. Depending on the location, you can save thousands of dollars. Doing so also helps you trim down your guest list naturally, which also helps you save money in the long run as well.
Now that you know some tips and tricks to help you avoid wedding debt, it’s time to get serious about your wedding budget. That is the first step, after all.
