This Paliku Gardens Wedding Offered Incredible Views of Hawaii

August 18, 2024 | justine

Tammy and Moonyoung dreamed of a cozy garden wedding with incredible views of the Koolau Mountains. They chose Hawaii to make their big day even more magical, surrounded by mountains and water. After months of planning, hunting for wedding ideas on Instagram, and creating a mood board, their vision came to life beautifully. Their Paliku Gardens wedding boasted a sunset-inspired color scheme, breathtaking flowers and decor, and views that left everyone in awe.

They couldn’t have picked a more stunning spot for their ceremony. The couple exchanged vows with the sea, mountains, and horizon, creating a perfect backdrop. The magic continued at their tented garden reception, where candlelit tables adorned with lush flowers and greenery set a romantic tone. The highlight of the evening was the beautiful floral and lighting installation above the dance floor, adding an extra touch of enchantment to their special day.

Their wedding day was like a fairy tale brought to life, full of breathtaking details that are sure to inspire your own special day. Thankfully every moment of this beautiful celebration was captured by the talented Junebug vendor Derek Wong

Cherishing a Quiet Moment Before their Paliku Gardens Wedding Ceremony

The most memorable part of the day was definitely the private first look that Moon and I shared at the Halekulani Hotel before heading to our ceremony and reception at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch. It was a special moment just for the two of us before the whirlwind of the day began. It allowed us to truly be present with one another, and it felt like we were the only ones in the world—except for our photographer, videographer, and wedding content creator, who were there to capture the moment.

How to Balance Joy and Budget on Your Wedding Day

Make decisions that will make you happy as a couple. Your wedding day is a time to celebrate your love and the beginning of the next chapter in your lives. Your guests are there to celebrate you, so do what brings you joy. Sticking to a budget can be challenging, but my one piece of advice is to splurge on things that will make an impact or are important to you. Create a prioritization list to help you decide where you might need to stay under budget so you can splurge on the things that matter most.

Choosing the Right Wedding Vendors by Trusting Their Gut

We’re most proud of two things when reflecting on our wedding and the entire planning process. First, we trusted our instincts and chose the right vendors with whom we connected and truly vibed. Living in Boston and planning a destination wedding in Hawaii meant we had to make the right choices with our vendors. With so much happening behind the scenes, their guidance and support made the 1.5 years of planning and the actual day feel seamless. Second, we’re glad we prioritized our happiness and made decisions based on what would bring us joy on our wedding day.

Why a Paliku Gardens Wedding Was the Perfect Choice for Them

When we decided on a destination wedding, there was no doubt we wanted it to be in Hawaii. After all, it was the first place we vacationed together. Initially, we explored resort and hotel options because we thought it would be easier to coordinate with fewer vendors, but it didn’t feel right for us. We ultimately chose Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch (where many movies, like Jurassic Park, have been filmed) because it truly captured the essence of Hawaii. An outdoor wedding overlooking the Koolau Mountains—absolutely breathtaking. We couldn’t see the venue in person until our wedding day, and it was more than I could have ever imagined. It was definitely worth coordinating with multiple vendors to pull off such a beautiful and perfect wedding day.

The Creative Journey Behind Their DIY Paliku Gardens Wedding Signs

We DIYed our menu and small wedding signage, including the bar menu, table numbers, gifts and cards sign, guestbook sign, dinner menu, and table name cards. I invested in a Cricut machine during the wedding planning process because I’ve always had a creative side and knew I wanted to make something special for our big day. The signs were all acrylic, hand-painted with vinyl lettering that I cut using the Cricut machine.

Creating Instagram-Worthy Moments with a Bubble Gun

We brought a bubble gun machine for our grand entrance and used it on the dance floor throughout the night. It was a huge hit with our guests and created some truly amazing photos and videos for Instagram reels.

Honoring The Bride’s Father with a Special Pasta Dish During Their Paliku Gardens Wedding Reception

The wedding day menu featured a special off-menu item created by Memoirs to honor my late father. Since Moon and I love pasta, we knew we needed to include a pasta dish alongside the braised short rib and coconut macadamia nut-crusted catch of the day. We added garlic shrimp with linguine pasta to pay tribute to my father. The wedding day menu was family-style, reflecting our cultural tradition of sharing meals with our closest family and friends.

This Old Hollywood-Inspired Casa de Monte Vista Wedding Took Guests Back in Time

August 4, 2024 | justine

Melissa and Joel envisioned their guests being transported to another era, capturing Palm Springs’ timeless elegance and lively spirit. Infusing the celebration with vibrant colors and carefully chosen designs, they curated an event filled with energy and charm. Thanks to their meticulous planning, every detail of their Casa de Monte Vista wedding reflected their Spanish and Old Hollywood inspirations. They not only achieved their vision but surpassed it, creating a day brimming with beauty and nostalgia.

Surrounded by majestic mountain views and swaying palm trees, their garden ceremony unfolded in natural beauty. Adorned with colorful floral pillars at the altar, the setting was simply stunning. At the poolside reception that followed, guests were welcomed by tables adorned with bold pink and red arrangements, taper candles, and elegant gold settings

Melissa’s wedding dress–featuring unique intricate floral patterns–and Joel’s classic tuxedo complemented the scene perfectly, adding the ideal finishing touches to their unforgettable day. On top of the breathtaking fashion that belongs in a magazine, Madison Maltby Photo beautifully captured every detail that’s sure to inspire your own wedding. This celebration is brimming with ideas you can incorporate into your big day.

The Couple:

Melissa and Joel

The Wedding:

Casa de Monte Vista, Palm Springs, California, United States

A Magical First Look Amidst Garden Splendor

Our best moment at the wedding was definitely when we had our first look. We had been looking forward to it all day while getting ready with our friends, surrounded by beautiful gardens and old Hollywood-style buildings. When Joel saw the dress for the first time, he was so amazed that he couldn’t say anything. The setting, with all the blooming trees and flowers, made it even more magical and unforgettable. We feel fortunate to have shared that special moment together.

Practical Wedding Advice from the Couple

For couples starting to plan their wedding, dare to be bold in your design choices. Let your personalities shine through every detail. Share the tasks equally, as working together makes the journey more fulfilling. Embrace DIY projects—they add a personal touch. Remember, your wedding should reflect your love story, not feel like a chore. Take risks and create something truly extraordinary together.

Celebrating Personal Style at Their Casa de Monte Vista Wedding

We’re really proud of how our artistic and detail-oriented personalities influenced our wedding design and fashion choices. It was incredibly fulfilling to see Palm Springs’ historic charm and botanical beauty brought to life through our theme, with a modern twist in our wardrobe. Our hands-on approach to DIY projects lets us add personal touches that showcase our style. Working together to realize our vision gave us a deep sense of ownership for the day. Lastly, seeing our diverse friend groups—Green Berets and Professional Cheerleaders—come together in joy and love created a truly magical atmosphere.

Why They Chose Casa de Monte Vista

We picked Casa de Monte Vista Estate in Palm Springs, for our wedding venue because its romantic, modern Spanish style instantly transported us to a Mediterranean paradise the moment we walked through the arched doorway. The lush gardens, beautiful architecture, and enchanting ambiance perfectly matched our vision for a one-of-a-kind, intimate, and unforgettable celebration.

On-Theme Wedding Attire and After-Party Style

On our wedding day, I wore the Cora wedding dress from Rue De Seine, which captured my vision of romantic Spanish style with a touch of Palm Springs flair. Inspired by vintage lace romance and 1970s elegance, the dress featured intricate floral patterns and a flowing silhouette that made me feel effortlessly beautiful. I styled my hair in a romantic up-do inspired by Pamela Anderson and opted for soft glam makeup to match the vibe of my special day. My groom looked perfect alongside me in a deep green tuxedo jacket paired with slim black tuxedo pants. For the after-party, my second dress by Helsi continued the floral theme with applique details and sequins. I added a playful touch with rhinestone floral shoes by Azalea Wang to kick off the festivities. The groom complemented this look with a white tuxedo jacket, seamlessly embracing the old Hollywood Palm Springs vibe.

Adding Personal Flair to Their Casa de Monte Vista Wedding Through DIY Touches

We added a personal and creative touch to our wedding with several DIY elements. One highlight was our flower seating chart wall adorned with the phrase “Everything’s Better in Palm Springs,” wallpapered in marigold and decorated with flower-filled boxes. We also crafted a flower box welcome sign used at both our welcome party and wedding entrance. For a playful touch that nodded to our last name “Swenson” and the movie “Dumb and Dumber,” we created personalized cocktail napkins with the quote, “Starts with an S! Swim, Swami, Slippy, Slappy, Swimmon, Sammon, Simmon, Swans, Swenson?” Additionally, we designed the menus for our family-style dinner. These DIY projects made our celebration unique and unforgettable.

Latin-Inspired Food to Match Their Spanish Venue

Our Latin-themed, family-style catered wedding featured vibrant and delicious dishes served on tables lit with romantic candlelight. The menu included a refreshing Pepita Caesar Salad and zesty Cilantro Lime Slaw, followed by mouth-watering Jalisco Style Churrasco, Calabasitas, and savory Chicken Poblano. Guests’ favorite sides included Frijoles and Street Corn, perfectly complemented by Salsa and Chips, creating a cozy dining experience. For dessert, churro donuts and homemade vanilla bean ice cream topped off the amazing meal. The food, crafted by Adriana Cocina, a woman-owned, family-run business from Temecula, California, added a personal and heartfelt touch to our celebration.

This Carnegie Museum Wedding Was a Medieval Dream Come to Life

July 31, 2024 | justine

Rachel and Ben didn’t stick to just one style for their wedding. Instead, they chose different looks they loved and combined them all. The challenge was making everything fit together nicely. But with the help of their visionary team of vendors, they managed to successfully pull off a renaissance, glam, metal, medieval Carnegie Museum wedding!

The couple chose a truly unique venue for their big day. Their dreamy ceremony took place in the Hall of Sculpture, featuring gold chairs, an altar adorned with flowers, and a flowing drapery backdrop. Meanwhile, the scene was set for a lavish reception at the Music Hall Foyer. Inspired by the Red Wedding feast from Game of Thrones, they showcased lush tablescapes draped in sprawling florals and greenery, with candles and gold accents perfectly complementing the ornate interiors.

Their special day was truly “a wedding like no other.” Just one glance at the photos taken by Rachel Rowland, and you’ll see why. If you and your partner are searching for unique wedding ideas, look no further.

The Couple:

Rachel and Ben

The Wedding:

Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Successfully Pulling Off Their Carnegie Museum Wedding Through Multiple Inspirations

We drew inspiration from multiple aesthetics, which posed the challenge of blending them seamlessly. The venue itself evoked medieval and Renaissance vibes, setting the tone for our celebration. Inspired by the Game of Thrones Red Wedding feast, our head table captured a similar ambiance. Our goal was to create a wedding that reflected us, our style, and our journey together. To personalize the experience, we named each table after bars from our hometown, with our head table honoring where we first met. Ultimately, the best advice I received was to choose what I love rather than stick to one style. This approach led us to our unique blend of Renaissance, glam, metal, and medieval elements for our wedding day.

Wedding Attire Style Inspirations and Personal Touches

I had many style inspirations: Bridget Bardot for my hair and Vivienne Westwood for my overall look. Buying the boots was a bit impulsive, but as a boot lover, I couldn’t resist. I left Ben to choose his outfit entirely on his own—I wanted him to feel confident and in control. It helped that all the groomsmen wore black; his only rule was no navy blue. I’m not a fan of bow ties or neckties. If I were a man, I’d never wear one. They look uncomfortable. So, I found chains and button covers on Etsy as alternatives, which perfectly matched our vibe, and the groomsmen loved them. I faced a challenge in making the bridesmaids stand out from the guests since they were also in black. My Maid of Honor suggested they wear black gloves to match mine, which was a perfect solution. As a bridesmaid gift, I got each of them Vivienne Westwood earrings to match mine, which they wore on the day. It was just perfect.

Personalizing Their Ceremony by Having Brothers as Officiants, Curated Music, and Heartfelt Vows

Having my brothers officiate the wedding was a bit nerve-wracking since I wasn’t sure what they would say—I am their little sister, after all. But it turned out to be incredibly sweet and perfect. We also curated the music for the string quartet, which was amazing. I highly recommend writing and reading your own vows for the ceremony; it made everything so much more personal and allowed our guests to learn more about us and our journey together. Despite our nerves, exchanging our vows was a highlight. Every guest we spoke to afterward told us how special it was.

Breaking the Mold by Embracing Personal Style Over Pinterest Trends

Here’s some advice for other couples: Don’t limit yourselves to a Pinterest board aesthetic! Embrace the things you love that don’t fit into a specific “box.” Everything came together perfectly because it was about what we genuinely liked and resonated with. Also, don’t hesitate to give your guests a dress code. We opted for all-black attire, which looked amazing and made it simpler for everyone to choose what to wear. Plus, let’s face it—everyone looks fabulous in black! I’m incredibly proud of how everything turned out. Planning from a distance, away from our home in Pittsburgh, required a lot of imagination to envision the final look, but it all came together beautifully in the end.

The Perfect Wedding Venue that Ticked All the Right Boxes

Our most important elements were the venue, attire, and food. We were set on having everything indoors, leading us to choose a venue in a city we had never visited. When we discovered the Carnegie Museum Music Hall Foyer through photos, we initially thought it was in Europe—it had that charm. To our surprise, it was just three hours away in Pittsburgh! When we visited in person, we were overwhelmed and even shed a few tears seeing its stunning beauty firsthand. It was perfect for our wedding.

Simple and Meaningful Thank-You Gifts at Their Carnegie Museum Wedding

We opted not to give gifts with our names on them or something guests might not use. Instead, we gave everyone a thank-you card and a $1 scratcher. It was a simple gesture that we hoped would bring some fun and appreciation to our guests.

Personalizing Carnegie Museum Wedding Decor with Professional Flair

I designed our thank-you cards, save-the-dates, and custom cocktail signage myself—I’m a designer by profession, so this was a joyful task. I advise anyone considering DIY projects to choose something you genuinely enjoy doing. For our cocktail sign, I hand-drew our pets on my iPad and then created the sign using Canva. I found frames on Amazon to display them beautifully. I also used Canva for the rest of our designs, which I disliked, but I’ve come to appreciate its affordability, ease of use, and versatility. It’s an excellent software for creative projects.

Magical Monochromatic Alila Villas Uluwatu Wedding

July 18, 2024 | justine

Sharon and Regan wanted their big day to focus on timeless elegance and heartfelt connection. With this vision in mind, they and their fantastic vendor team focused on thoughtful details to make their Alila Villas Uluwatu wedding dream come true. The unique cliff-top venue with stunning views of the Indian Ocean, the monochromatic, understated luxe aesthetic, and the chic attire all came together perfectly. The couple went all out, and it was a beautiful and unforgettable day.

The pair exchanged heartfelt vows at the cliff-edge cabana. White flowers and candles lined the aisle, while unique arrangements at the altar drew everyone’s eyes to the breathtaking, endless horizon. After their dreamy “I dos,” they moved to the garden, where a stunning outdoor reception awaited. Crystal chandeliers hung above luxurious tables filled with white blooms and taper candles, creating a magical and unforgettable evening.

And it wasn’t just the views and the decor that were amazing that day. The groom looked stylish in a beige suit, and the bride looked like a goddess in her strapless gown. Thoughtful Wedding Details: Customized Jewelry and Elegant Wedding Attire

We put much thought into selecting our wedding jewelry, opting for customized pieces that spoke to our styles. For our wedding bands, we chose exquisite gold rings featuring a marquise center stone accented by varying-size diamonds that adorned the entirety of the ring for me. In contrast, Regan’s ring boasted an elegant hairline textured finish with a striking baguette diamond. Each gold band continues an engraved message he wrote for me in my ring, adding a sentimental touch to our exchange of vows. Additionally, I adorned myself with a layered pearl necklace and baroque pearl earrings, completing my bridal ensemble with timeless elegance. Regan wore a bespoke three-piece suit in a beige hue paired with dark brown shoes for the attire. At the same time, I chose a sleek white gown and an A-line ivory dress featuring a lace bustier with an exposed corset style, completing it with Valentino Garavani Atelier heels.

Creating a Timeless Alila Villas Uluwatu Wedding Aesthetic

Our wedding reflected our vision for an elegant, minimal, and intimate day. The design seamlessly blended simplicity and sophistication, resulting in a timeless aesthetic that felt effortlessly beautiful. Every detail was bathed in shades of white, while accents of raw elements like washed wood and brass added a touch of rustic charm. Thousands of white roses seemingly blossoming from the lush green grass forming a runway, a centerpiece of boldly clustered candles, hanging chandeliers along the tablescapes, layers of textural glassware, and silk napkins drape integrated with the natural surroundings, every aspect came together to create a sense of refined charm. Overall, it was a celebration that embodied our love for understated elegance and heartfelt connection.

Unforgettable Ceremony Moments

I cherish the moment my parents walked me down the aisle as I locked eyes with Regan. He stands against a breathtaking backdrop of the ocean merging seamlessly with the sky, the gentle breeze, the soothing rhythm of the waves, and the enchanting melody of the violin and cello intertwining fills the air, surrounded by our beloved friends and family. And suddenly, being able to see him only, his face had a huge grin and teary eyes, just like mine. I still can’t tell who is sitting by the aisle as I walk through; it is all a blur except for him. I adore the indescribable rush of emotions following the ceremony. We were both brimming with excitement and couldn’t stop smiling.

Essential Advice for a Stress-Free Wedding Day

One piece of advice would be not to let yourself get too stressed. Celebrate the small wins during the process instead of stressing over them. Additionally, communication was critical throughout the planning process. Prioritize what truly matters to you as a couple; regular check-ins with vendors and clear, open discussions with each other will help you stay organized and on the same page. All that matters is that you and your guests are having a blast, and the key element to ensure this happens is your energy – it’s the source of everyone’s happiness.

Bringing to Life Their Dream Day Through Collaboration and Meaningful Elements

As both a wedding stylist and the bride, there’s a deeply personal joy in crafting my dream aesthetic and witnessing its transformation into reality. We poured our hearts into infusing personalized details throughout the day, from DIY wedding favors and papeteries to our vows. Our wedding was a collaborative effort involving us and our families, friends, and vendors. From planning to execution, seeing everyone come together to make our vision a reality was gratifying. Overall, we’re proud of how our wedding reflected our values, our love for each other, and the incredible community surrounding us. It was a day filled with tears of joy, love, laughter, and genuine moments that we’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Why They Chose to Have an Alila Villas Uluwatu Wedding

We chose the Alila Villas Uluwatu as our wedding venue because it perfectly aligns with my vision of marrying in Bali, with its breathtaking cliff views, exceptional service, and hospitality. The venue’s stunning white aesthetics and powerful architecture, seamlessly integrating with its natural surroundings, captured my heart. Every space in the venue offers a distinct perspective, with open layouts that showcase the surrounding nature and unique natural materials throughout the property, making it the ideal choice for my special day.

Bali-Inspired Wedding Favors

We decided to give out limoncello in small jars as wedding favors. It’s one of my favorite drinks from my trips to Bali, and I wanted to share that experience with our guests. Plus, it’s a lovely way for them to take a piece of the celebration home with them.

Infusing Meaning and Style Through their DIY Projects

I poured my heart into DIY projects that reflected our wedding style. We crafted our favors, tying delicate rope accents onto small bottles of limoncello adorned with custom stickers. Additionally, I designed all the graphics for our papeteries and stationeries—including invitations, menus, place cards, seating charts, and the wedding schedule. We aimed for simplicity and elegance, opting for textured handmade paper and sophisticated typography. Additionally, I handcrafted napkins using silk fabric, imparting a raw yet opulent feel to our table settings.

This Colorful Factory51 Wedding Was Complete With the Couple’s Furry Friend

July 16, 2024 | justine

For many couples who have dreamed of their big day forever, wedding planning can be a breeze. But for Ellen and Luke, it wasn’t so simple. Their first theme just didn’t feel right. After much soul-searching and countless hours on Pinterest, they finally found their style. They were drawn to fun elements that truly reflected their personalities. With a naturally beautiful venue, a bold color palette, and unique flowers and decor, their vision came to life perfectly at their Factory51 wedding.

The couple’s park ceremony was intentionally intimate, with only 16 guests and their beloved dog, Snickers. In a shady spot under the trees–with earthy arrangements as their backdrop–the couple exchanged heartfelt vows, creating a truly special moment crafted by Junebug vendor Brisbane Celebrants. For the reception, the rustic warehouse venue was transformed into a magical setting. A backdrop curtain of cascading fairy lights contrasted beautifully with the red brick walls, creating an enchanting atmosphere for their celebration.

If you want ideas to add fun and personal touches to your celebration, this is the perfect example! You’ll be amazed by every detail, all wonderfully captured by Paper Bark Stories.

The Couple:

Ellen and Luke

The Wedding:

Factory51, Brisbane, Australia

The Story Behind the Evolution of Their Factory51 Wedding Design

Our original design plan was completely different from how our wedding turned out. Initially, we had settled on sage green, which was lovely, but it didn’t feel like us. Neither of us had envisioned our wedding day. It took a few weeks until I grew frustrated and asked myself, “What do I truly like?” After some soul-searching on Pinterest, I began to find my style. We eventually settled on colors that felt lively—pink and orange were vibrant and fun! Suddenly, the joy of planning returned, and I felt excited and motivated to continue. From then on, whenever we encountered a roadblock, we chose the most enjoyable option. Looking at our photos, you can see how much fun we were having. It may sound like a cliché, but authenticity is timeless. If you stay true to yourself, who cares if something falls out of fashion?

Balancing Personalities and Customizing Every Detail of Their Ceremony with the Help of Their Officiant

Luke is an introvert, and I am an extrovert (as you can probably tell by my dress choice!). Coming from a large family, I knew our wedding needed to balance our personalities. For Luke, the idea of standing in front of 120 people and reading vows was daunting. So, we opted for an intimate ceremony with just 16 guests—our immediate family, grandparents, and two close friends. It was perfect for anyone who prefers to avoid the spotlight. To keep our vows private and intimate, we exchanged personalized letters beforehand and used standard wording during the ceremony. Only we know the contents of those heartfelt letters. Our celebrant, Cara of Brisbane Celebrants, was wonderful to work with and managed the ceremony decor, making everything so convenient. Her decor business allowed us to customize every detail, from drinks tubs to dried florals and confetti. My top advice: choose reliable vendors who truly understand your vision and make your day unforgettable.

How Their Dog Snickers Played an Important Role During the Ceremony

Having our dog, Snickers, at our ceremony was so special. His presence helped us get over our nerves, and he’s so cute! From a young age, girls are always told their wedding day will be the best day of their lives. Your wedding will be incredible, and you’ll remember it forever, but there is so much pressure to put on a single day. Having Snickers with us made it feel less formal. He grounded us and reminded us why we were walking up that altar.

Navigating Wedding Planning Challenges: Insights from a Bride’s Experience

Initially, the planning process was challenging because I was overly concerned with others’ opinions. Once I let go of the need to please everyone, I found much more enjoyment in the planning. We did things our way, disregarded others’ opinions, and had a fantastic day. My advice is: don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself! Those on a budget, like we were, should consider working with small businesses. Most of the time, they are more cost-effective, reliable, and kind. Many “big brands” ignored my emails, took forever to provide quotes, and seemed disinterested. I still keep in touch with my photographer, cake lady, and celebrant. They’re wonderful people who remember my name, and that’s such a special feeling.

Creating a Budget-Friendly Factory51 Wedding Plan by Prioritizing What Matters Most

We’re young and preparing to buy our first home, so spending a potential house deposit on a single day just wasn’t realistic for us. We sat down together and listed what was most important to us, which helped us create our wedding budget. Our non-negotiables were things we absolutely wanted and wouldn’t compromise on, no matter what. The nice-to-haves were extras that would be nice, but we knew we wouldn’t regret skipping them. It’s crucial to talk to each other and prioritize. Getting caught up in trends from TikTok and the wedding world is easy, so referring back to our list helped us stay focused. Is that trend, a non-negotiable, or just a nice-to-have? That approach kept us from adding unnecessary items to our plans.

Choosing a Naturally Beautiful and Convenient Venue

Our venue was naturally stunning. I knew I didn’t want to rent a space and then have to decorate it extensively. It was also conveniently located, close to home with easy Uber access, and elderly-friendly with no stairs. We wanted to make it simple for everyone to attend without needing pet sitters or accommodation. Plus, who doesn’t love Italian food? The cuisine was delicious, and guests still rave about how fantastic it was.

Enhancing their Factory51 Wedding Experience Through DIY Touches

Luke’s DIY floral pocket square was crafted with cardboard, dried florals, and ribbon, ensuring it stayed perfectly in place throughout the day, unlike traditional boutonnieres. Our wedding newspapers, created using Canva, added a delightful touch to our photos and included a word search for guests’ entertainment. After numerous design tweaks, the DIY invitations turned out beautifully and are still proudly displayed on friends’ fridges. I repurposed dried bouquets into charming arrangements for our table numbers while our seating chart, printed on foam board via Canva, hung elegantly from a Kmart clothing rack adorned with fake flowers. These creative DIY projects saved us money and added a personalized touch that made our wedding day even more memorable.

Using jewel tones for their colors, a mix of vintage and modern pieces from thrift stores, and a touch of DIY magic, they brought to life a beautifully eclectic Brice House wedding.

The sprawling estate provided the perfect setting for their big day. For their outdoor ceremony on the front steps, a wooden arbor adorned with florals framed the French Provincial-style main house in the background. At the tented reception, the tablescape was filled with color-blocked blooms and accents, creating a stunning scene.

While the decor and fashion played a significant role, the couple is most proud of their trusted team. They were intentional in working with diverse vendors and successfully achieved it! To see all the beautiful details up close, browse through these stunning photos taken by photographer Karen Norian. They’ll inspire you with unique wedding ideas for your own special day.

The Wedding:

Brice House, Georgia, United States

Starting the Day with an Intimate Vow Exchange and a Sweet Surprise

We decided to do a private vow exchange on the morning of the wedding. We snuck away in our PJs with nothing but our coffee cups, photographers, and each other. We spent a few minutes exchanging vows and sharing our excitement with each other, and then I surprised Megan with a proposal redo featuring her late grandmother’s wedding set. Megan was so surprised, and it was such a special and sentimental moment to share together before the day officially kicked off.

Blending Personal Touches and Venue Aesthetics

Finding our venue gave us the best starting point for the rest of our planning. The Brice House is a historic home with many classically southern and southern-gothic vibes, so we built on that while adding our own whimsy. We used Pinterest for inspiration and worked with our planner to help us define how we wanted our wedding to feel: romantic, whimsical, and fun. We heard advice early on that we should only purchase decor items we would like to display in our home and then rent or borrow everything else, and we stuck with that plan. An Anthropologie store inspires our home decor, so we looked for items and inspiration that married our personal styles with our intended vibes without overshadowing the venue’s existing beauty.

How They Created Their Eclectic Brice House Wedding

We picked rich jewel tones for our color palette and thrifted a mix of vintage and modern pieces to create this beautifully eclectic setting. Anything we couldn’t find, we made ourselves or borrowed from friends. Ultimately, we are really happy with how everything came out and how our wedding felt so authentically us.

Balancing Details and Budget by Making Strategic Choices

Not every detail needs to be the key focus, or you’ll quickly become overwhelmed and go over budget. We picked three areas that were the most important to us—florals, food, and photography—and tried to keep everything else simple. We spent time on invites, music, decor, etc., but we didn’t let those details stress us out.

Building a Diverse Vendor Team for Their Brice House Wedding

We are really happy with how everything turned out, but ultimately, we are the most proud of the vendor team we put together. Our goal was to hire all diverse vendors—women, veterans, people of color, LGBTQ+, etc. And although it was tough to find the right team since we are a queer couple in a small town in South Georgia, we did it! And we had the best vendors ever.

Candle Table Alternative to Traditional Favors

Instead of traditional favors, we decided to have a candy table with small sachets so guests could pick and take what they wanted. We’ve been to so many weddings where the koozies or custom cups are left behind, and we didn’t want to waste anything or have an extra stockpile in our garage. Our candy table was a huge hit and saved a ton of money.

Your Comprehensive Guide to Planning a New Orleans Wedding

July 9, 2024 | riley
new orleans wedding second line parade

New Orleans is a city overflowing with vibrant culture, rich history, delicious food, and an enchanting charm–so it’s not hard to see why so many couples choose it as a wedding destination. From the historic French Quarter to serene gardens and grand ballrooms, there’s something for every couple looking to tie the knot in this captivating city. From venue options to vendors who can help bring your dream day to life to New Orleans wedding traditions you’re going to want to include, we’re breaking down everything there is to know about tying the knot in The Big Easy.

Wedding Venues in New Orleans

Historic Mansions and Estates

Elms Mansion – Nestled in the Garden District, this 1869 mansion boasts stunning Italianate architecture and beautifully manicured gardens, making it the perfect venue for those seeking an outdoor wedding.

Race + Religious – This three-building historic estate is a mix of whimsical indoor spaces and brick courtyards overflowing with greenery. Tie the knot by the courtyard pool before partying under the night sky (after your classic second-line parade, of course).

Marigny Opera House – Built in 1847, the Marigny Opera House started as a church before it was burnt down and rebuilt in 1853. It wasn’t until 1999 that the former church was turned into the Opera House that it is today. Now, it is arguably one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the country, thanks to its old-world charm.

Hotels and Ballrooms

Le Pavillon Hotel – Situated in the heart of downtown NOLA, this 1907 hotel has all the charm you’d expect to find in a New Orleans hotel. Exchanging vows in one of their beautiful ballrooms will have you feeling like you traveled back in time.

The Barnett – Formerly known as the Ace New Orleans, this art deco hotel is quintessential New Orleans. It’s bursting with character, eclectic decor, and restaurants serving only the best Southern food. And the best part? Your guests can stay on the property with you.

Unique Spaces

New Orleans Pharmacy Museum – A pharmacy museum may not be at the top of everyone’s minds when it comes to wedding venues, but this gorgeous historic landmark provides the perfect opulent New Orleans party ambiance for your big day. And it’s only a couple blocks away from Jackson Square, where you can take stunning portraits with your significant other.

French Quarter Wedding Chapel – One of our favorite parts about the city is the unconventional venue options ideal for those looking for something outside the box–like the French Quarter Wedding Chapel. It’s the only wedding chapel in the French Quarter, is open 24/7, and features vintage furniture, elegant chandeliers, and dollar bills hanging from the ceilings.

Brennan’s – Foodies looking for a venue for their intimate affair, look no further than Brennan’s. The restaurant is a James Beard Outstanding Restaurant finalist, was named one of CN Traveler’s best restaurants in the world, and is known as the birthplace of bananas foster. Oh, and did we mention that the decor is the epitome of romantic?

New Orleans Wedding Photographer Highlight

Choosing the right vendors is one of the most challenging parts. With so many professionals out there who are wildly talented at what they do, how are you supposed to know which one is right for you? We want to highlight a Junebug photographer who we think is absolutely incredible.

Matthew Foster Photography

Review: “Matt and Liz are a terrifically talented and dynamic photography duo. We would hire them again without hesitation and would also encourage anyone reading this review to STOP your search and HIRE THEM!  From the planning process to the event itself, Matt and Liz were attentive, accommodating, professional and very comfortable to be around. They captured so many special moments and expressions.  We are truly thrilled with all aspects of their work: details, getting ready, first look, wedding, and reception photos. They even managed to capture great images of our very large families with speed and ease. Thank you, Matt and Liz, you were a fabulous addition to our wedding experience.”

New Orleans Wedding Traditions

Cake pulls – Dating back to the Victorian era, cake pulls are very similar to bouquet tosses. Silver charms are connected to the end of a ribbon and placed between layers of the wedding cake. Before the cake is cut, those who are single in the bridal party are invited to pull a ribbon. Each charm has its own meaning (i.e., who will get married next, who will experience good luck, etc.) and acts as a keepsake for those who pull it.

Shop cake pulls: 20 Piece Traditional Style Cake Pulls; 2. Individual Cake Pull Bracelets; 3. Gold Luxe Pearl Beaded Cake Pulls

Second line parade – This iconic New Orleans tradition features a brass band leading the wedding party and guests from the ceremony to the reception, complete with parasols and handkerchiefs for dancing in the streets. It’s a fun way to incorporate New Orleans culture and give strangers a chance to wish you good luck as you begin your journey as newlyweds.

Mule-drawn carriage – Not in the mood to parade down the street? Consider a mule-drawn carriage instead. Or, incorporate a carriage ride as your grand exit. No matter how you choose to go about it, it’s a fun way to see the city and enjoy some romantic one-on-one time together.

Dance troupes – New Orleans is known for its music and dancing, so it’s no surprise that it’s tradition to hire dance troupes to get a reception started. These professional dancers are a surefire way to keep guests entertained and keep them on the dance floor.

Local Cuisine and Drinks

Food and drink are central to any New Orleans celebration. Incorporate these local flavors and specialties to delight your guests:

  • Cajun and Creole cuisine – Treat your guests to dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and crawfish étouffée to showcase the city’s culinary heritage.
  • Seafood – Fresh Gulf shrimp, oysters, and crab are must-haves, reflecting the region’s coastal bounty.
  • Signature cocktails – Serve iconic New Orleans drinks such as the Sazerac, Hurricane, and French 75, along with locally brewed beers and refreshing mint juleps.
  • Street vendors – One walk around the city, and you’ll find countless street vendors. To bring them into your celebration, consider hiring one (or multiple) for a late-night snack.

Other Ways to Incorporate NOLA Culture into Your Big Day

Customized invitations – Use designs featuring New Orleans’ iconic elements like wrought-iron balconies, jazz instruments, or fleur-de-lis motifs.

Shop New Orleans-inspired wedding invitations: Hand-Drawn New Orleans Editable Wedding Invitations; 2. Watercolor New Orleans Destination Invitations; 3. Custom City Map Save the Date; 4. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler French Quarter Wedding Invitation

Memorable favors – Give guests a taste of the city with favors like pralines, mini bottles of hot sauce, or custom Mardi Gras masks. If you’re hosting a destination wedding, consider adding a few of these to a welcome bag!

A New Orleans wedding is a celebration of love, life, music, and culture. The city’s unique ambiance will create lasting memories for you and your guests. Whether you’re drawn by the historic charm, lively culture, or delectable cuisine, New Orleans provides a magical setting for your special day. Ready to hire vendors for your Louisiana celebration? Unique Wedding Seating Chart and Escort Card Ideas

July 1, 2024 | riley

One thing your guests are guaranteed to notice on your wedding day is your signage. From the welcome sign to the seating charts, these must-have details help direct guests and play a key role in the overall flow of your celebration. While wedding signage ultimately serves a functional purpose, it doesn’t have to be boring. Getting creative with your designs can turn the mundane into standout decor pieces.

After finalizing your seating arrangements, create a seating chart that seamlessly complements your theme and color palette, making it easy for guests to find as soon as they enter the reception space. Whether you’re looking for a timeless design to match an elegant wedding or retro ideas for an eccentric celebration, here’s a round-up of wedding seating charts perfect for every style.

Wedding Seating Chart FAQs

Is it necessary to have a seating chart necessary?

Although seating charts aren’t necessary, they are extremely helpful–especially if you are having a larger wedding. They make it much easier for your guests to navigate your venue and help you stay on schedule if you’re doing toasts, plated dinners, etc. Lastly, they’re a great way for your guests to be comfortable socially since you can place everyone with familiar faces.

What’s the difference between a seating chart and escort cards?

Escort cards are specifically designed for your individual guests, with their names and table numbers, which they can take with them as they move around. Often, you’ll find that they also include their food preference if having a seated dinner. Seating charts, on the other hand, are one large display that guests can glance at before finding their tables.

How do I create a seating chart?

Some couples opt for a Do-It-Yourself approach, but DIY projects can be quite demanding. You have to design, build, and handle the transportation, which adds stress leading up to and on your wedding day. Hiring a professional for your wedding signage is always a smart move. Their experience and assistance will be well worth the investment.

Do I need to assign seats at each table?

When it comes to finalizing your seating charts, you can choose to assign guests to tables or designate specific seats for each person. Either way, your seating chart display will only direct guests to their assigned table. If you’ve opted for assigned seating, place cards on each table will indicate who sits where.

Do the newlywed’s parents sit together?

This one is entirely up to personal preference. If your parents and in-laws get along, they’ll most likely love sitting together and sharing your special day with one another. If there’s a possibility of tension, don’t be afraid to sit them with other family members.

This Villa Le Fontanelle Wedding Was Classically Beautiful

June 29, 2024 | justine

Kani and Arie didn’t initially plan on having a wedding, but when they thought about it, they knew it had to be a two-day destination wedding in their favorite country, Italy. They had taken their first holiday together in Florence, where they went on a wine-tasting tour and fell in love with the area. They dreamed of an authentic, traditional Tuscan wedding and couldn’t think of anything better than a Villa Le Fontanelle wedding.

In their garden ceremony, a beautiful path lined with white blooms guided them to a lush floral arch, creating a picturesque stage for their heartfelt vows. The timeless magic continued throughout the festivities. Their reception was magical—they dined at long family-style tables adorned with lush, low arrangements and candles, all set beneath a canopy of soft draping and fairy lights.

Their dedicated team of vendors meticulously designed every intimate detail, seamlessly blending them with the stunning backdrop, resulting in a truly beautiful wedding. Luckily, Junebug vendor Whites Film was there to capture all the remarkable moments and exquisite elements. We guarantee you’ll be adding these images to your wedding mood board.

The Couple:

Kani and Arie

The Wedding:

Villa Le Fontanelle, Italy

The Inspiration Behind Their Villa Le Fontanelle Wedding

We never initially wanted to do a wedding. Still, we knew if we were to toy with the idea, it would have to be a destination wedding over two days, so, of course, the only destination we wanted was our favorite country—Italy. We went on our first holiday together in Florence a few years ago. We went on a wine-tasting tour of Tuscany and completely fell in love with the place, knowing instantly that we wanted to do a wedding there. We wanted an authentic traditional Tuscan wedding and couldn’t think of anywhere better than Florence.

Recreating Their First Date Moment During Their Ceremony

One of the most significant and memorable moments was before the wedding started (although very unconventional). On our very first date, I was so nervous that before I even said, “Hello,” I shouted, “Tequila?” and he stumbled, laughed, and said, “Err..sure.” We had tequila, and then I said, “Hi! Nice to see you!” We wanted to recreate that moment before the ceremony but didn’t want to see each other, so we did it blindfolded. Yes, having tequila blindfolded in your wedding suit was not easy. It was our favorite moment of the day and felt so special to us. Even writing about it gives us butterflies.

Cherishing Moments from Their Intimate Villa Le Fontanelle Wedding

We had a small, intimate wedding, only 45 people. Compared to our engagement party of 170 people. We loved the fact that it was so intimate. We have to spend much time with the people we care about most in the world rather than spend a little time with many people. Every little moment makes us smile, even just thinking about it. Seeing the tablescape under the fairy lights overlooking the city of Florence for the first time was magical. Or the traditional Tuscan wedding cake moment. Visually, it was spectacular, like something out of a magazine. But taste-wise? Just wow! The incredible florals, structure, and lights surrounding the caterer while they were making it was unbelievable. It felt like a fairytale.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: A Story of Collaboration and Celebration

We were fortunate to have an incredible team helping us create our perfect day. Our wedding planner, as mentioned earlier, was simply exceptional. While we spoke to several potential planners, it took just 30 seconds for us to decide on Alessia. Her passion and understanding were evident from the start, and we knew she was the one for us. We cannot express enough gratitude for her guidance and support. Alongside White Emotion, we had a world-class photographer, Alessia Angelotti, and a videographer, Claudio Sichel, from Whites Film. We dedicated countless hours to finding these talented individuals; their attention to detail made everything perfect. Despite their professional roles, they made us feel like they were friends celebrating with us at our wedding rather than simply working.

From Rustic to Chic: How Their Wedding Planner Transformed Their Vision

We want to take credit for the wedding design, but all credit goes to our fantastic wedding planner. Initially, we desired a rustic farm-style wedding, but as soon as she got to know us, she swiftly created this incredible, chic wedding with traditional elements! Without exaggeration, she understood our vision even better than we did. She is unbelievable in every way, and we cherish her deeply. This special touch distinguishes the remarkable Alessia and the White Emotion team. Alessia will forever be family to us, and her vision made our perfect day possible.

Adding a Personal Touch to Their Welcome Poolside Celebration

We DIYed for the first day at the welcome white pool party. We got disposable cameras (yes, you read that correctly, they still exist!) with customized name straps for each person so they could also take memorable photos, develop them, and keep them as memories of our special day. Additionally, we made customized beach towels for the guests, which went beautifully with the terracotta-colored Villa.

The Story Behind Finding The Perfect Wedding Dress

Due to time constraints, I knew finding my dress had to be first on the checklist. Serendipitously, I had booked several bridal appointments and had my eye on a Berta gown. The day before my appointment with The Wedding Club, I saw Muse by Berta post a photo of a new dress corset. Excitedly, I shared it with my mum, envisioning how stunning it would look. Upon entering the bridal shop, I spotted the dress displayed at the front. Despite being told it wasn’t available, I pleaded with the sales advisor to let me try it, and it fit perfectly. Adding to the magic, I noticed a rain-like veil that completed the dreamy look. The creative director saw me in the dress by chance and kindly allowed me to have it. It was the only dress I tried, and it was perfect. We later tailored it, adding a layer of shimmer tulle underneath, enhancing its enchantment, true to the classic Muse by Berta style.

Unexpected Beauty: Embracing a New Vision for Their Wedding Flowers

Our florists are the epitome of modern chic. Their floral mood board alone took our breath away. It was the easiest decision we made in the whole wedding process. The funny thing was that Alessia was worried about showing us this mood board as it was the complete opposite of the original wedding theme, but as soon as the groom saw it, it was a hard and firm yes!
