This Weekend Long Lotus House Wedding Was The Epitome of a Party

While a wedding with a neutral color palette and an organic feel will always be a timeless choice, going all out with bold and vibrant details certainly creates an unforgettable celebration. Sarah and Emil experienced the best of both worlds at their Lotus House wedding. As a destination wedding, they aimed to provide a unique experience for their guests. And with the help of their planner and Junebug member Ember and Stone Events, they achieved their vision and surpassed it with flying colors.

The pair exchanged heartfelt vows between rows of palm trees, under an all-white chuppah. It was the classically romantic ceremony they’d always wanted. The following reception was a whole different vibe, though. Setting the right party tone, a champagne wall with neon pink flutes greeted guests. Meanwhile, sparkly tinsel chandeliers hung above a tablescape adorned with bright red and pink centerpieces. Completing the fun aesthetic was a tinsel backdrop for the sweetheart table and the cake display.

This Lotus House wedding proves that you can mix and match themes, and those unexpected combos can become the most unique touches of the day. And in this case, it was the perfect mix of modern, romantic, retro, and disco! To see precisely what we mean, scroll through these incredible images captured by Feel and Focus Photography.

The Wedding:

Lotus House, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

How Their Lotus House Wedding Came To Be

My husband and I said the ceremony should feel intimate and organic with a natural background and the reception to be completely different. We wanted the reception to be a big party with neon, vibrant bright colors, loud music, and good food. Being a destination wedding, I wanted to provide our guests with experiences and something different than weddings in New Jersey.

A Mistake That Turned Out To Be A Fun, Unforgettable Surprise At Their Ceremony

Since we had a Jewish ceremony, we ordered Kippahs for our guests to wear and take home. I ended up ordering them from a random company I found online at the last minute. They were supposed to say “Wedding of Emil and Sarah Mojica” with our wedding date underneath. After the ceremony, I was made aware of the company’s mistake. Instead of saying “wedding of,” they said “Bar Mitzvah of Emil and Sarah Mojica,” indicating that my husband and I were 13-year-old twins becoming adults in the Jewish community. Everyone had a good laugh.

How Their Wedding Weekend Unfolded

The wedding weekend kicked off on Friday with an intimate dinner at Harvest in the Bellagio for those who arrived early. We transported our guests to Area 15 on Saturday to visit Meow Wolf Omega Mart. On Sunday, we arranged transportation to Greengale Farms for our wedding ceremony amidst beautiful palm trees, accompanied by live acoustic guitar and our closest loved ones. Following the ceremony, we treated our guests to a delightful 9-foot grazing table and a charming mobile bar serving Prosecco, juice, and ice water. The weather was perfect, with sunny skies and a gentle breeze. Afterward, we brought everyone to the reception, where the atmosphere transformed into a lively party.

Setting The Right Party Tone With Colorful Tinsel Decor

We used a champagne wall as a seating chart, where every glass had a name and table number. Every surface was covered in neon, bright flowers, and tinsel. There were tinsel chandeliers that sparked when the breeze hit them. We told our planner and florist that we wanted it to feel like “Disco Barbie,” which they did exactly. Our DJ kept our friends on the dance floor all night and kept the party going.

Working With Junebug Planner Ember And Stone Events Was The Right Decision

I was fortunate to have worked with our wedding planner Nikki and her team at Ember and Stone Events. I found 95% of the vendors we used by looking at other weddings Nikki planned. Our advice is to get a planner. Or at least get a day-of coordinator. We avoided so much stress by hiring a planner with a full team. Our vendors were incredible and went above and beyond, and it all came together because we had a fantastic wedding designer and planner with a great team. Nikki and her team at Ember and Stone events don’t just plan a wedding. She fully designs weddings.

A Creative Twist: Incorporating Merchandise Into Their Lotus House Wedding

We gave out stickers that looked like neon signs and glowed in the dark. We had a few different designs. One was the iconic Las Vegas sign. One was a slice of cake, one was a palm tree that said “best day ever,” and one was a playing card with S&E (Sarah and Emil). Everyone likes “merch,” which should be incorporated into more weddings.

Shop Exact Neon Table Number: Mini Number Neon Sign Battery Operated

Catering To Dietary Preferences By Serving A Vegetarian Feast On Their Lotus House Wedding

Because about half of the guests were either kosher or vegetarian, we decided to go with a primarily vegetarian menu. More specifically, it was mostly vegetarian “junk food.” We had vegan cauliflower wings, beet sliders, vegan mushroom quesadilla, mini quinoa meat tacos, a fire oven, a personal pizza station, and a sushi wall. Everything was incredible, and the vegan and vegetarian guests were so happy to be able to eat almost everything that was offered.

A Single Cake And Sheet Cake Combination For A Budget Friendly Option

We fell in love with a cake from Mary’s Cakes Las Vegas, which we cut for photos and fed to each other. It was the best cake I’ve ever eaten, and I was so upset when I accidentally left it in our hotel room. So since the cake that we cut was not large enough to feed everyone, we also had a sheet cake from Freed’s Bakery that was cut and served to our guests. This decision saved us a few hundred dollars, and honestly, the sheet cake tasted better than a grand fondant-covered cake.

This Fairmont Banff Springs Wedding is the Epitome of a Fairytale Wedding

June 21, 2023 | justine

Fairytale weddings are the epitome of romance. And with a historic castle, florals and greenery galore, and timeless fashion, Tyller and Carter’s Fairmont Banff Springs wedding definitely nailed the vibe. They originally planned on tying the knot in 2019 and patiently waited for the day they’d been dreaming of. To say that the wait was worth it would be an understatement.

Set against a backdrop of majestic mountains with grand ballrooms boasting ornate architecture, their renowned venue looked like it came straight out of a storybook. For their ceremony, Junebug member Calyx Floral Design decked the Stephen Hall with lush arrangements of white blooms and greenery. Flipping the same space, tables with gorgeous centerpieces and gold settings were added to create a reception that was the epitome of elegance.

For a fun personal touch, the couple incorporated a photo booth and a bowling match into the festivities to keep their guests entertained. Lucky for us, photographer Dallas Olga captured every magical moment of this beautiful day. If you and your partner are set on a timeless celebration, keep scrolling through. This is the perfect inspo for you.

The Couple:

Tyller and Carter

The Wedding:

Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, AB, Canada

How Their Fairmont Banff Springs Wedding Came To Be

We had an intimate wedding of 75 of our closest friends and family. Set in the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs, we wanted to add a luxurious Italian villa feel to the entire space where you felt transported. We wanted a venue with a lot of character and a perfect combination of wonder and romance. The castle is not only historic but iconic, and right in our backyard. Florals were everywhere, even on the piano, and every balcony in the room was draped with fresh greenery. Romance played a huge part in our wedding. We were initially supposed to get married in 2019, and COVID struck, and we waited for the day we always dreamed of.

Honoring The Bride’s Mom By Wearing Her Wedding Dress On The Big Day

For the ceremony, I wore my mother’s wedding dress. With minor alterations, I wanted to keep the original, retro look. My mother was honored that I loved her dress so much. As for makeup, I didn’t hire an artist. I wanted a very natural look.

Intimate Boho Outdoor Yokayo Ranch Wedding

June 17, 2023 | justine

Holly and Jennifer, who grew up on opposite coasts, wanted their Yokayo Ranch wedding to be a special occasion where guests from both sides could finally meet. Their main goal was to create a space that fostered connections and allowed friends and families to have a great time and make lasting memories. When they found the venue, they instantly fell in love with it and drew inspiration from its unique atmosphere. With their October wedding, they aimed for a cozy, vintage feel with warm autumn colors. And with the help of their vendor team, they were able to bring their vision to life at Yokayo Ranch.

Amidst the picturesque beauty of Mendocino County, with its rolling hills and majestic redwoods, the festivities kicked off with a delightful cocktail hour by the pool area, complete with cozy cabanas. A short walk away, beneath a handcrafted arch adorned with lush flowers and soft grass, the couple shared their heartfelt vows in a breathtaking outdoor ceremony. As the sun dipped below the horizon, guests reveled in a charming garden reception, marveling at the lovely tablescape adorned with pampas grass and vibrant blooms. And as the night went on, laughter and joy filled the air as everyone danced beneath the shimmering string lights.

The day’s inviting atmosphere and enchanting beauty made it a truly magical experience. Every detail was meticulously planned, and Ashley Carlascio captured it all. Scroll through the photos to see the gorgeous details up close, from the retro cigar lounge to the fantastic grazing table. Take inspiration from these ideas to create your own boho meets vintage outdoor celebration.

The Couple:

Holly and Jennifer

The Wedding:

Yokayo Ranch, California, United States

How Their Yokayo Ranch Wedding Came To Be

From the moment we secured the Yokayo Ranch, we drew inspiration from its beautiful surroundings to create an unforgettable experience for our guests. We needed to provide a space where friends and families could connect, engage, and start making memories as soon as they arrived. As I come from Los Angeles and my wife is from San Francisco, our wedding was the first time our guests from both sides had the chance to meet and share stories about us. With the guidance of our wedding coordinator, who coincidentally owns the property, we were able to bring our vision to life. Since we chose an October wedding, we incorporated warm, vintage themes and autumn colors. To achieve this, we created intimate areas like a pre-ceremony cocktail space and a cozy cigar/whiskey lounge during the reception. Each of the spaces exuded a vintage charm with the addition of long-stem candles, Italian nesting tables, and beautiful, warm florals.

Highlighting Precious Moments: The First Look and Memorable Happy Hour

Our special day has many highlights, but two moments stand out to me the most. The first was when my future wife and I shared our first look. Our photographer suggested this idea, explaining how it could be a rare moment of intimacy amidst a busy day. Incorporating it was a great decision. We cherished the opportunity to exchange words in private before the ceremony, which made us feel more at ease. Another unforgettable moment was when we spent time with our guests during the happy hour. Holding hands, we greeted everyone, taking a few moments to absorb the atmosphere. Seeing our loved ones gathered, engaging with each other, and sharing stories was incredible. These experiences made our day truly special.

Choosing a Beloved Friend As Their Wedding Officiant Was The Best Decision

One aspect of our wedding that fills us with pride is having a beloved friend officiate our ceremony. We deliberated extensively on the atmosphere we wanted to create for our guests. We wanted someone close to both of us and familiar with our journey. This person needed to possess a genuine heart and spirit. We wanted our officiant to connect with the audience and make them feel involved in the ceremony. Ultimately, we chose a dear friend who took the time to interview us individually, incorporating our stories to create a timeline of our history. Their presence made us feel incredibly at ease while exchanging vows, resulting in a truly unforgettable moment.

Yokayo Ranch Was The Ultimate All-In-One Venue

When searching for venues, our priority was to have everything in one place so that our guests could enjoy the day without the hassle of moving around. Yokayo Ranch fulfilled this perfectly. They had a stunning pool area with cabanas where we had our pre-ceremony cocktail hour. We had our outdoor open ceremony just a few steps away, under a beautifully handcrafted arch and rustic bench seats. For the reception, another space on the property allowed us to connect with all our guests and create an intimate setting. It was incredible to have Rachel, who owned the property and excelled in flower arrangements and wedding coordination. She was a true multitasker and the most genuine, carefree person we’ve ever met. Throughout the planning process, she kept us grounded, and we fully trusted her recommendations.

DIY Projects That Made Their Yokayo Ranch Wedding Uniquely Theirs

We designed and made the wedding invitations, menus, cocktail menus, seating charts, wedding favors, and a light-up arch for our wedding dinner. Canva was a practical and user-friendly tool for creating menus and seating charts, saving us significant money compared to professional printing. We added a personal touch by using a custom-made initial stamp. Our favors consisted of loose-leaf tea, which we assembled ourselves by purchasing tea in bulk and containers online. Each tea bag was adorned with a stamped tag. With the help of my partner’s skilled father, we had a wooden “A” frame created. We attached a neon sign that read “Holly & Jen est. 2022” on it. The frame stood behind us during the reception dinner, and as the night progressed, the sign illuminated beautifully. Though it required time and effort, taking on these projects together was a rewarding experience.

Their Makeup And Hair Team’s Approach To Personalized Wedding Beauty

Love and Wolves Co., our hair and makeup vendor truly stood out in our wedding planning process. I had experienced situations at other weddings where my makeup didn’t feel like me, so I needed to find a vendor who understood and listened to my preferences. When I connected with Ash and her team, it felt like working with a best friend who understood my every gesture and thought. They were open to my ideas and offered support throughout the process. Ash’s talent for creating unique hair accessories and jewelry added a special touch to my wedding day.

Smart Financial Wedding Planning Tips

Considering your finances is essential when planning a wedding unless money is not an issue. While many advise sticking to a budget, practical steps can be taken beforehand. For example, obtaining quotes early provides a realistic estimate of the estimated total cost. This allows time to explore cost-saving measures such as DIY projects. In our case, renting table linens would be expensive, so we explored alternatives. We discovered that purchasing fabric in bulk from a store was more affordable. Small choices like these can make a significant difference when booking vendors and factoring in additional expenses.

Practical Wedding Advice: Harnessing Support, Choosing the Right Vendors, and Embracing the Big Day

Here’s our advice for couples planning their wedding: Don’t hesitate to seek support from family and friends; they are often eager to help and can contribute their talents. When choosing vendors, consider the long-term relationship you’ll have with them. Take the time to interview and ensure they understand and align with your vision. Remember, saying “no” and making decisions without feeling obligated to explain is perfectly fine. On your wedding day, let go of the small things. Take a deep breath, cherish the love that surrounds you, and take a moment with your partner to appreciate the presence of all those who deeply love you in the room.

Ethereal and Elegant Isle of Skye Elopement

June 13, 2023 | justine

Isle of Skye elopement

Lauren and Hayley had always dreamed of an Isle of Skye elopement after discovering the stunning destination years ago. Being together since 2012, tying the knot held deep meaning for them. But they had to put their plans on hold due to life’s demands. However, their determination never wavered. Ten months before the elopement, they contacted their photographer, and luck was on their side—he had an available date in Skye. Taking it as a sign, they knew it was meant to be.

Their day started with getting ready at their Airbnb, where they enjoyed the stunning scenery. After their first look, they fulfilled their wish of taking photos at a Scottish castle, braving a muddy hike to reach their ceremony location. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, they exchanged heartfelt vows, embracing the natural beauty that surrounded them.

They continued their explorations until late into the evening, capturing ethereal portraits illuminated by glowing lamps. It all came to an end when the couple retreated to a cozy cabin where they signed their marriage license, enjoyed a delightful meal, and shared laughter and heartfelt conversations. If you dream of saying “I do” in a breathtaking exclusive location, take a moment to browse through these gorgeous photos by the talented Henry Tieu. Let this adventurous love story inspire you to plan your own romantic getaway in a faraway place.

Henry Tieu’s Take on This Isle of Skye Elopement

Lauren and Hayley’s adventurous elopement in Scotland marked my final international elopement of the year. Despite November’s rainy season, they remained determined to proceed with their plans and let nothing dampen their love-filled celebration. It was one of the most exhilarating days I’ve ever encountered. Rain poured whenever we sought shelter indoors but miraculously ceased whenever we were ready for outdoor adventures.

How Their Isle of Skye Elopement Came to Be

When we contacted Henry about ten months before our elopement, he was available in the Dolomites and Skye. The date on Skye was the only one that would work for us, so we took it as a sign. Years ago, we discovered the Isle of Skye online and planned to elope there. However, we put it on hold due to life getting busy. We were initially drawn to Skye because of its breathtaking pictures and the captivating atmosphere it conveyed. It truly is one of the most special places in the world, with a rich history and mystical folklore. It has an ethereal and whimsical fairytale feel with an underlying elegance.

A Memorable Moment Alone Amongst Scotland’s Cliffs

Besides the rainbows we saw all day, the most memorable part was probably the end of the day. The sun had set over Skye and Old Man Storr, and we were alone on a small cliff, looking out at the ocean, holding lanterns under the bright full moon. There was an extraordinary calmness in the air, accompanied by the gentle glow of the moment.

Exchanging Heartfelt and Sentimental Gifts As a Reminder of The Family at Home

I surprised Hayley with a wedding band from her mom with a diamond in it. It was the first diamond that her dad ever gave her mom. And since we were eloping and going to be away from family, I had Hayley’s parents write her a letter that I handed her that night when we got back from the day.

Authenticity Above All: Crafting A Celebration That Truly Reflected Their Love Story

The most important part of planning our wedding was that it was true to us and about us. We have been together since 2012, and finally tying the knot held deep significance. Therefore, ensuring that we could fully be with each other in a special place was crucial. Additionally, we wanted to have photographs that we would cherish, so the very first thing we did was find Henry.

Intimate and Romantic Iceland Destination Wedding

June 12, 2023 | justine

Jennifer and Jacob made the exciting decision to have an Iceland destination wedding, hoping to bring their loved ones from all over the United States together. The couple had a clear vision in mind: to create a warm and romantic atmosphere, but they needed help figuring out how to bring it to life. Luckily, they had the support of an experienced and trusted team of vendors, and with their guidance, everything fell into place beautifully.

While browsing their photographer’s portfolio, the pair accidentally stumbled across their dream ceremony venue. The cliffside location with panoramic coastal views stole their hearts, and they couldn’t resist exchanging their vows. To complete the romantic vibe, they focused on ground florals. Their talented florist worked their magic for their restaurant reception, transforming the space with lush floral arrangements, black and gold settings, taper candles, and enchanting greenery installations

Their Iceland destination wedding was a true masterpiece, with stunning portraits against misty waterfalls and otherworldly landscapes. Luckily, talented Junebug member Jane Iskra expertly captured all the precious moments. If you’re contemplating the idea of forgoing a big wedding and having a smaller celebration in your dream city or country, this is the inspiration you’ve been waiting for.

The Couple:

Jennifer and Jacob

The Wedding:

Matur og Drykkur, Reykjavík, Iceland

The Key Role Of Their Wedding Stylist In Their Iceland Destination Wedding

Because we had a destination wedding and a smaller wedding party, we wanted the overall feeling to be quite cozy. We had a general idea of what style we liked and how we wanted the wedding day to feel, but we needed help conceptualizing those ideas further. Our fantastic planner heard our cries for help and pointed us toward hiring a wedding stylist. Our ideas fully evolved when we hired Wonderlust Events. I remember feeling a weight lifted off my shoulders after our first meeting with her and later receiving the first mood board from her. We said, “Yep, she totally nailed it.”

A Serendipitous Choice: How They Discovered Their Dream Ceremony Venue and Reception Space

After finding our photographer, we were scrolling through her past work when I came across a photo that made me audibly gasp. We reached out to her to inquire about the exact location. We knew we had to see it in person before deciding on it as our ceremony venue. After conducting a site visit, we fell head over heels in love with it and couldn’t envision getting married anywhere else. As for our reception venue, it was a last-minute decision. Our original plan fell through, prompting us to seek assistance from our planner and stylist. They discovered the most incredible cozy restaurant that had everything we were looking for. Unfortunately, we never saw the space before our wedding day, but it was absolutely magical and perfect. It was as if it was meant to be.

Emotional Highlights: Private Vows And The Magical Transformation Of The Reception Space

So many parts of our day stick out as precious moments. The most memorable–and the one we both cherish equally–is when we read our vows privately after the ceremony. It was an incredible moment and one of the few times that day where it felt like it was just the two of us, apart from our photo and video team, who were there to capture the moment. A quick honorable mention goes out to when we saw the reception space for the first time. I had quite the unexpected happy cry about the florals and the tablescape.

Navigating Wedding Planning And Letting Go Of The Small Details

If I could go back in time, I would tell myself that one month into planning, you need to stop panicking about what glassware you need on the table. You don’t need to stress over the smaller things before caring for the bigger items. It’s hard not to get wrapped up in the never-ending to-do lists. But my advice is to take it day by day and have faith that everything will be sorted out in the end, glassware included.

Creating Meaningful Connections Among Their Loved Ones At Their Iceland Destination Wedding

Before our wedding, our families and many of our friends unfortunately never had the chance to meet. Due to living in different corners of the U.S. What we are most proud of is being able to bring all of our close loved ones together. Under one roof and witness them getting to know each other. Seeing important people in our lives laughing, dancing, drinking, and singing together meant the world to us. The day before the wedding, we arranged for everyone to meet at the Sky Lagoon to enjoy an afternoon together as an icebreaker before the rehearsal dinner later that evening. Many people approached us and expressed their appreciation for our effort to acquaint everyone with one another.

Expressing Their Appreciation Through Thoughtful Favors

We gave out wedding favors as a small token of appreciation for our guests’ commitment to witnessing our marriage. Practical items that could be utilized and remind them of their memorable journey to Iceland. Traveling internationally for a wedding takes a special group of people, so we knew we wanted to provide favors. We crafted welcome wallets for each guest, which included a weekend itinerary and a personalized note from both of us. We distributed scented candles and Icelandic sea salt during the reception as souvenirs of their trip.

Outstanding Vendors That Made Their Dream Iceland Destination Wedding A Reality

A few standout individuals deserve special mention. Our planner and stylist, in particular, patiently dealt with my frantic emails while finding a new reception venue. Switching venues late in the planning phase caused significant stress, but they handled it gracefully. Additionally, our versatile florist proved to be a true jack of all trades. She did craft breathtaking floral arrangements and played a pivotal role in sourcing the glassware and flatware for our tables.  And despite not being obligated, our photographers extended their presence beyond the scheduled time to ensure we had a photo with each of our guests.

Romantic Italian Destination Wedding at Quercia Al Poggio

June 7, 2023 | justine

With Chelsea and Matteo’s decision to have a dreamy Italian destination wedding, their focus was on honoring Matteo’s Italian heritage by incorporating authentic Tuscan elements. They took inspiration from the captivating blue colors in Tuscan pottery and used this as the cornerstone of their wedding design. Opting for a bright color palette, they selected vibrant florals that perfectly captured the essence of the lush countryside. They intended to create a romantic ambiance, brimming with an abundance of greenery and sparkling crystal chandeliers, transporting their guests to the enchanting charm of Tuscany.

The couple selected an incredible wedding venue in the medieval town of San Gimignano, a 19th-century estate nestled amidst a vineyard and olive grove. This picturesque setting created an enchanting ambiance for their special day, with lush greenery surrounding the ceremony and captivating views through the expansive windows. They worked closely with Junebug members Tuscan Pledges to incorporate meaningful black cultural traditions, lending a distinct touch to the occasion. The courtyard reception exuded romance, thanks to the exquisite chandelier installations that illuminated the tables adorned with garden blooms and vintage blue table settings.

The couple took great care in planning every aspect of their wedding, ensuring no detail was overlooked. With the assistance of their trusted team of vendors, they brought their vision to life, resulting in a truly unforgettable and customized celebration shared with their beloved family and friends. Take a moment to be awe-inspired as you scroll through these mesmerizing photos skillfully captured by Meme Urbane.

Their Wedding Planners Made Their Dream Italian Destination Wedding A Reality By Helping Them Find The Perfect Venue

We initially hired Parade Wedding for venue selection services as we had specific criteria but needed to know where to start. After considering options in Tuscany and near Rome, we found the perfect venue, which unfortunately fell through. With Parade’s help, we discovered Quercia Al Poggio, a stunning venue with beautiful spaces, accommodations, and a breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside. Their on-site olive oil production and exceptional Chianti wine sealed the deal. Despite the time difference, Parade’s dedication and hard work made us confident they were the right team to make our dream venue into a dream wedding.

Incorporating Black Cultural Traditions Into Their Ceremony

As an interracial couple, it was important for us to celebrate the Italian heritage and incorporate elements of Black cultural customs and traditions. Before the ceremony, the bride’s uncle, a minister, shared a private blessing of the rings with the groom. He also led a prayer with the bride and her family before the bride’s entrance. After officially declaring husband and wife by our officiant Tuscan Pledges, we embraced the tradition of jumping the broom, which pays homage to the history of enslaved Black people who were denied marriage certificates. This symbolic act represents our commitment and marks the beginning of our marriage journey.

Infusing Authentic Tuscan Elements Into Their Italian Destination Wedding

After choosing to have an Italian destination wedding, our goal was to honor Matteo’s Italian heritage by including authentic Tuscan elements. We took inspiration from the blue color commonly seen in local Tuscan pottery and used it as the basis for our design. To add some liveliness, we included bright colors and vibrant flowers. We also wanted to capture the lush greenery of the countryside and create a romantic atmosphere, so we used classic chandelier lighting.

A Dinner Reception Filled with Emotion and Gastronomic Delights

Our reception was absolutely perfect and truly unforgettable. Every aspect of it stood out and left a lasting impression. I couldn’t hold back tears of joy from the moment we first saw the beautifully decorated space. The heartfelt speeches, particularly the Bestman’s speech and the impromptu toast by Matteo’s Italian cousins, moved everyone in the room to tears. And let’s not forget about the incredible food. We’ve been attempting to recreate the truffle risotto at home ever since because it was that amazing. That part of the day came together flawlessly, relieving us of all the stress and nervousness so that we could simply bask in the moment’s enjoyment.

Bridging Cultures and Languages: Celebrating the Bilingual Connection

Despite the challenges of planning a wedding thousands of miles away during a global pandemic, we are most proud of the bilingual nature of our event. Over four days, where 50% of our guests spoke limited English, connections were formed that transcended language barriers and cultural differences. By the end of the week, everyone was laughing, bonding, and making plans for future trips. We intended to create a true blending of families and friends, and seeing this brings us happiness. We believe that the quality time and connection shared with our loved ones was the most crucial aspect of our wedding, and we recommend the podcast “The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters” by Priya Parker for couples seeking a grounded vision for their special day.

A DIY Labor of Love Filled with Nostalgic Tunes and Party Hits

We took on the task of creating our wedding playlist, and it turned out to be a labor of love. We wanted to ensure that our reception had a DJ-like feel, with the energy gradually building throughout the night. Our playlists spanned different eras, starting from the 1940s and 1950s, with romantic tunes like Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” for a dreamy slow dance under the moonlight. As the night progressed, we transitioned to more recent hits from the 2010s and today, including must-haves like “Turn Down For What” to keep the party going. During dinner, we opted for instrumental versions of popular songs inspired by the elegant ambiance of Bridgerton. Creating our playlist was an often overlooked DIY aspect, but it truly reflected who we are as music lovers and added a personal touch to our celebration.

Flower-Filled DIY Fremont Foundry Wedding

May 16, 2023 | justine

Jessica and Gracie’s Fremont Foundry wedding is a beautiful display of their creativity and dedication. Their modern industrial venue, vibrant color palette, and abundance of blooms all speak to their unique style. The couple’s impressive commitment to their perfect wedding aesthetic is also evident—they spent nearly two years thrift store shopping and creating DIY decor! It was a true labor of love, executed flawlessly with the help of their dream team of creative professionals.

Against the breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the couple exchanged their vows in a romantic rooftop terrace ceremony, surrounded by a lush floral arch that perfectly framed their special moment. The reception that followed–held at the atrium–was equally breathtaking thanks to long tables adorned with colorful vases filled with long-stemmed florals and elegant table settings under a canopy of fairy lights.

Captured by the talented Tori Osteraa, these gorgeous images showcase how the couple weaved personal and meaningful touches into every aspect of the celebration.. From the hand-painted place cards to the custom neon sign, you’ll see how even the smallest element can make a big impact when infused with a couple’s unique love story.

The Design Inspiration Behind Their Fremont Foundry Wedding

As a couple, we have always been drawn to bright colors, warm tones, and a cozy feel. When thinking about what we wanted our wedding to look like, this is precisely what we had in mind. We wanted an explosion of colorful flowers, sentimental details, and personality in every area of the venue. In our search for vendors, we assembled a dream team of passionate and creative artists who shared our vision. Having all our ideas in pieces on Pinterest, we were nervous about how everything would come together. We gathered decor from thrift stores and worked on DIY projects for nearly two years before our big day. Magically, everything came together seamlessly. We loved seeing every tiny detail we spent so long creating, and we feel so blessed to have worked with amazing vendors we could trust.

Wedding Advice on How To Successfully Pull Off A DIY Wedding

Do a little bit every week. Planning a wedding can be stressful if you look at everything you have to do (especially if you love to DIY like us) at once. The trick was getting a few things done weekly, even if it felt too early to start.

Honoring The Memory Of Jessica’s Mother Through Thoughtful Wedding Details

Our wedding planning included Jessica’s reflection on perfectly honoring her late mother, Tammey. As such an extraordinary figure in Jessica’s life, confirming the details representing their relationship and acknowledging the weight of Tammey’s absence was no small feat. Jessica had her mom’s two-tiered veil altered to her style and wore it during the ceremony. Before exchanging vows, our officiant read a piece written by Jessica about her mom and led a moment of silence. Following this, we lit two candles displayed at the altar to symbolize this missing piece in our lives. Jessica has always felt her mom’s presence through music and inexplicable timing. It was no surprise that a band rehearsing at a nearby establishment interrupted our vows with a drum solo. This moment brought laughter and tears and made us all believe that Tammey was there with us.

The Thought And Care Behind Their Reception Aesthetic

Throughout the planning process, we knew that the dining setup would be something we spent a large portion of our time designing. We wanted long tables to fill the space, a private sweetheart table, and an explosion of vibrant colors. Every detail was thought out, from each hand-selected candle holder to the hand-painted name cards we DIY’d for each guest. We opted to have our cake set up in the same space to add to the sense of grandeur. We built a 9-foot-tall backdrop where we hung a custom neon sign. Seeing this space come together on our wedding day was so satisfying, and it turned out better than we could have imagined.

Guests Enjoyed a Fun Vintage Volkswagen Van Photo Booth Experience

We wanted each guest to leave our wedding with something memorable and something they would like to keep. We booked a photo booth in a vintage Volkswagen van where guests could take pictures and go home with photo strips from our special day. This was a fun activity for everyone to partake in, and the setup added a unique and show-stopping decor element.

Putting Their Heart And Soul Into Their First Dance

We intentionally planned time together throughout our wedding day, including our first dance. We spent the previous months agonizing over the perfect song that illustrated our love. After pulling off our dream ceremony and having time to feel at ease and take it all in, our first dance as wife and wife was the day’s most memorable moment. We held each other close, sang along, and tried to memorize every detail to carry with us through a lifetime.

Surprise Gifts On Their Wedding Day: A Live Painter and a Sentimental Ring

On our wedding day, we decided to exchange gifts during our first look to see the raw reaction to the surprises we had kept for so long. Jessica surprised Gracie by booking a live painter, who would create a real-time portrait of our first dance that we could take home at the end of the night. Gracie surprised Jessica with a diamond ring pressed from her late mother’s ashes. You can see raw emotions captured by our photographer as we exchange these special gifts with one another.

How Their Springs Resort and Spa Wedding Came To Be

We wanted a venue to blow us away and our family could enjoy. Having been to Costa Rica many times before, we knew it had to be there. We looked up the best wedding venues in Costa Rica, Springs Resort and Spa came up, and once we visited, we knew it was the one. We contacted their wedding coordinator, Jennifer Hernandez, and told her we wanted a beautiful tropical wedding. And she just ran with all our ideas. Feeling nervous at the beginning, she eased our minds about everything being perfect. Looking back, we would not have had it any other way!

It Was A Family-Centered Wedding Day

For us, the entire day was perfect. It is hard to pick a part of the day that was better than the rest. We are huge into family and had the privilege of having 47 family members with us at our wedding. So, if we had to pick the most memorable part of our day, it would have to be partying with the entire family after the ceremony.

Trusting The Process And Letting Their Wedding Coordinator Work Her Magic

We are most proud of leaving the entire wedding process in our wedding coordinator’s hands. Most people say that planning a wedding will have its struggles. Lauren and I had no trouble planning the wedding because we trusted our wedding coordinator. Sometimes we felt like we were not doing enough. But she assured us that everything would be beautiful, and it was just that. Our only wedding advice is to pick someone you trust and believe in and let them work their magic.

This Canadian Museum for Human Rights Wedding Was Inspired By The Couple’s Love For Plants

May 13, 2023 | justine

Katherine and Kevin’s love story began in a University plant biology class, where their shared passion for all things green and growing brought them together. So it was only fitting that their Canadian Museum for Human Rights wedding reflected this unique meet cute. With the help of their dedicated vendor team, they were able to create a celebration that was truly unique and personal—you’re in for a treat when you see it!

The ceremony was held in the museum’s glass-walled space, softened by an arch adorned with delicate blooms that set the tone for the celebration. For the reception at the Garden of Contemplation, Cassie Mae Design created free-standing floral botanical sculptures inspired by the couple’s favorite art from their travels. And not only that, guest tables were beautifully decorated with a touch of nature, featuring juicy pears and locally-sourced Manitoba honeycomb. These thoughtful details added a delightful twist to the elegant affair.

But the wedding design wasn’t the only thing that was intentional and personal. The couple filled their big day with special touches that reflected their unique relationship. From getting ready with their wedding party to having their loved ones join them during their first dance, every detail was planned with intention and meaning. Ariana Tennyson captured these moments beautifully, and we cannot help but feel inspired by this beautiful celebration of love and nature. So keep scrolling to see exactly what we mean.

The Couple:

Katherine and Kevin

The Wedding:

Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Winnipeg, Canada

Their Love For Plants Shaped The Look And Feel Of Their Canadian Museum for Human Rights Wedding Design

We wanted a timeless look emphasizing florals, mainly to soften and romanticize the bold geometry of the venue. It made sense for us to stick to a neutral color palette that suited our everyday style. We met at a plant biology class at University and we both worked in a conservatory, so it was only natural to incorporate our love of plants and some flora (pears) and fauna (bees) into the wedding design. Cassie Mae Design built free-standing floral botanical sculptures that took center stage in the reception space, inspired by some of our favorite art and architecture we observed in our travels together.

Why A Canadian Museum for Human Rights Wedding

I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, whereas Kevin was raised in Collingwood, Ontario. With some of our guests celebrating with us from out of town, we wanted to celebrate in a Winnipeg landmark. Tyler from the Canadian Museum of Human Rights gave us a virtual walk-through at the height of the pandemic with humor and grace. He was helpful and supportive throughout the venue selection process, and he was a reassuring and friendly face we were glad to have with us on the wedding day. The Garden of Contemplation stole our hearts for our intimate dinner for 50. We loved that there were enough options to hold our ceremony and cocktail hour in different areas of the venue, so guests got to see a lot of the beautiful architecture as we moved through it.

Intentional Choices for a Memorable Wedding: Local Products, Personal Touches, and a Thoughtfully Structured Day

We wanted our decisions to be meaningful and to emphasize local products where possible. The flowers were important to us due to our love of plants. Kevin tested and thoughtfully selected signature drinks for the cocktail hour and dinner that incorporated pears and honey as a garnish to tie in with the decor. And most importantly, we structured our day in a way that allowed us to enjoy it and spend the entirety together from start to finish.

Unconventional Approach To Wedding Traditions

We had a fairly non-traditional approach to parts of our wedding that led to some of our fondest memories. Of these, the most memorable moment was choosing to have our wedding party, and parents join us for the latter half of our first dance. It gave us the biggest smile watching them walk out to join us. A close second was having the wedding party get ready together the morning of the wedding. Before heading to the venue, this made for a relaxed morning full of laughs, snacks, and stories.

Homemade Marmalade As Favors For Their Canadian Museum for Human Rights

The wedding favors were one of the first wedding-related tasks completed, thanks to my mom! Soon into our engagement, she excitedly went about making homemade marmalade. A recipe passed down from my late Grandmother. Since Della could not be there to celebrate with us, it was our way of bringing her love to the day.

Why a Wedding Planner is a Must-Have: Ensuring a Seamless Experience from Start to Finish

Trust us. It would be best if you had a wedding planner. Emily from Feast and Festivities gave us so much confidence and reassurance that everything would come together, and we were not forgetting anything and were putting together a cohesive experience.

Edgy Yet Whimsical Lowndes Grove Wedding

May 7, 2023 | justine

Kate and Jeremy’s Lowndes Grove wedding was an absolute dream come true. Their ultimate goal was to create a warm, home-like atmosphere that embodied their personalities. And to achieve this, they took inspiration from their own home, used a dusty rose and black color combo, exquisite florals that added a dreamy touch, and modern elements for a surprising twist. With the help of their trusted vendor team, they pulled out all the stops to bring their vision into an extraordinary reality.

Lowndes Grove was undoubtedly the perfect venue, with its oak-lined banks and sweeping riverside views. For their waterfront ceremony, they kept the decor minimal, with only two floral pillars framing the couple as they exchanged their vows. But the real magic happened at the tented reception. They kept the same sleek vibe, with an all-white tablescape, low floral clusters, and candles. To top it all off, the overhead installation of fresh blooms, dried foliage, and black pendant lighting added an unexpected touch of edge to the romantic ambiance.

Every detail was thoughtfully chosen, and it all came together seamlessly to create an unforgettable event. So if you’ve ever dreamed of a classic yet unique wedding style perfectly combined with personal, meaningful touches, take notes from this couple and swoon over every photo captured by Franzi Annika.

The Couple:

Kate and Jeremy

The Wedding:

Lowndes Grove,St Margaret St, Charleston, South Carolina, United States

The Bride Always Knew That The Lowndes Grove Was The One

Jeremy and I interned in Hilton Head one summer in college. I interned with a luxury planner in HHI, and her first wedding of the season was at Lowndes Grove. It was the first wedding I was ever a part of, and I knew I wanted to get married there from the moment I stepped foot on the property. It truly was magical to have such a full-circle moment.

They Wanted Their Lowndes Grove Wedding To Feel Like Home

As a wedding planner, I always tell my clients that if they want their wedding to feel like them, their home is an excellent place to start for inspiration. Our biggest goal was for our guests to feel like they were stepping into our home away from home. So we took my advice and looked to our home to assist with the design process. We love to play with balancing masculine elements like black metal furniture pieces. And balance them out with more feminine elements like dried florals.

The Groom Wore A Pink Suit In A Styled Shoot Which Inspired Their Color Palette

My husband wore the same dusty rose suit jacket in a styled shoot we modeled together and loved it so much that he said he wanted to get married in it (we were not engaged at the time). That was the starting point for our color palette, and we built everything else around that punchy rose tone. It’s funny how the smallest things can be the biggest sources of design inspo.

Having A Trusted Vendor Team Made The Planning Process A Great Experience

Take time to enjoy every moment. It’ll be over in the blink of an eye. Try your hardest to stay as zen as possible. I promise you’ll look back at everything you were upset about and wonder why you wasted so much energy on the minutiae of it all. Little things tend to seem like big things when you’re stressed. And we were lucky because we genuinely had the dream vendor team. They all are such talented, hard-working people. Working with a wedding planner on her wedding was sometimes intimidating, but they all treated my wedding as their own—a dream come true!

Their First Look Broke The Tension And Set The Tone For The Rest Of Their Lowndes Grove Wedding Day

Kate: The most memorable part of our wedding was the first look. Having him by my side was so exciting (and honestly a relief). I loved seeing each other before the ceremony and spending a few extra hours with him that I wouldn’t have gotten if we hadn’t opted for a first look.
Jeremy: The feeling of walking up the stairs to the balcony of the first look location was the most memorable moment of the day. All of the emotions were building up, which was such an exciting portion of the day. Kate broke the tension when she was about to tell me to turn around. She decided she needed to hit pause and get her bouquet. We laughed, and it so perfectly encompassed our relationship. Getting to see her was such a good emotional relief. Seeing her in her wedding dress was everything I could have imagined and then some.

Planning To Be Under Budget Helps Prepare For Those Last Minute Expenses

Being in the wedding industry, I had a good idea what it would cost to have our dream day. Our vision evolved throughout the planning process and ended up over budget. It’s essential to ensure you are planning to be under budget because so many last-minute things pop up.

Taking The Leap With DIY Signage

It’s incredibly ironic that I did so much DIY because I never encourage my brides to DIY anything—it can be super stressful. But for my wedding, I wanted to have personal touches everywhere. I created/designed both bar menus, menus at the place settings, escort display, and the timeline sign.

Serving Their Signature Drinks And Setting Up Food Stations To Give Their Guests A Chance To Mingle

For dinner, we opted for stations because we love getting a bunch of different appetizers at our favorite restaurants to have a little of everything. We also wanted our guests to be able to try more than one thing and to mingle. Espresso martinis are one of our go-to cocktails so we served espresso martinis with the letter H dusted in cinnamon. Our specialty cocktails were what you would find us drinking on date night. I chose a French 75, and Jeremy chose an old fashioned.
