Switzerland Destination Wedding: 50 Family and Friends Celebrate an Ultimate Winter Getaway

February 6, 2025 | justine

Nicolette and Ben met in Chicago and instantly connected over their mutual love of skiing, adventure, and good food and wine. Just eight months into dating, they took a life-changing trip to Zermatt, Switzerland—a place that captured their hearts and cemented their decision to spend their lives together. So, when it came time to plan their wedding, the choice was obvious: a Switzerland destination wedding, surrounded by the majestic Matterhorn and their closest loved ones.

“We love spending time outdoors and sharing good meals with friends and family,” the couple shared. To bring their dream to life, they worked with a talented vendor team, including Junebug vendor Helena Brauer Photography, who captured every moment with stunning artistry. Their vision? A weekend getaway that brought 50 of their closest loved ones to the place that meant so much to them. With a focus on good food, meaningful moments, and natural beauty, their big day became the ultimate reflection of their love story.

Rather than a traditional rehearsal dinner, the couple kicked off their Switzerland destination wedding with a welcome ski day. “Skiing is such a big part of our story, so we invited everyone to spend the day on the slopes.” After hours of skiing and snowboarding, guests gathered at Chez Dany, a cozy mountainside restaurant accessible by skiing, hiking, or gondola. The afternoon was filled with hearty Swiss dishes, breathtaking views, and plenty of laughs. That evening, everyone regrouped at the hotel bar for a casual nightcap. With its warm, welcoming vibe, it was the perfect spot to relax, mingle, and set the tone for the celebration ahead.

Before the ceremony, the couple shared an emotional first look in a snowy meadow with the Matterhorn towering in the background. As Nicolette approached Ben, her gown trailing in the snow, the soft winter light added a cinematic glow to the moment.  When Ben turned to see her, his joyful expression said it all. “Seeing each other in that setting was surreal.”

The ceremony, held outdoors at the Matthiol Hotel, was a breathtaking mix of simplicity and natural beauty. Rows of wooden chairs draped with fur blankets faced the iconic Matterhorn. The aisle, lined with greenery, torches, and baby’s breath, seamlessly blended with the snowy landscape.

“We didn’t focus on color schemes or elaborate decorations,” they shared. “The beauty of the mountains spoke for itself, and we just added a few simple touches to enhance it.”

Nicolette and Ben exchanged vows they had written themselves, and their mothers gave touching readings. “The most special part was walking back down the aisle together. The sun was shining, our guests were cheering, and everyone was ringing the Swiss cowbells we placed on their chairs. It was pure magic.”

The reception dinner and party took place in the hotel’s dining room, where modern Swiss chalet decor set a cozy and elegant tone. Tables were dressed with glowing candles and baby’s breath centerpieces.

To make the reception uniquely theirs, Nicolette and Ben named each table after places they had lived together. “We started with Chicago, where we met, and ended with Boston, where we live now.” Each table card included a short note about what the place meant to them, a personal touch that helped tell their story.

“We wanted to make sure everyone was having the best time.” Their focus on great food, wine, and music kept the energy high all night.

One of the biggest hits? The ski shot board. Guests lined up side by side, taking shots together from a long wooden ski fitted with shot glasses. “It was such a fun way to keep the party going.”

Planning a destination wedding is no small feat, but Nicolette and Ben were in great hands with their planner, Mart Mari Weddings. “We truly couldn’t have brought this wedding to life without them.” The couple’s vision for the day was clear: a celebration that felt meaningful, fun, and organic. “We didn’t want our wedding to feel like a series of moments choreographed for the camera. We wanted it to be a genuine celebration.”

Looking back, the couple said they wouldn’t change a thing about their Switzerland destination wedding. “It was everything we hoped for and more. We feel so lucky to have had that experience with our closest friends and family.” When asked for advice, they emphasized focusing on what truly matters. “Details are important, but at the end of the day, it’s about celebrating your love and being present. Enjoy every moment—it only happens once.”

After Local Venues Fell Short, This Couple Found Destination Wedding Perfection in San Miguel de Allende

Ryan and Andrew’s love story began in March 2017 when they joined the same kickball team in a local social sports league. What started as a friendship grew deeper throughout the year, and by December, their platonic bond transformed into a romance. “By the end of 2017, we became inseparable,” they shared.

When it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted a day that celebrated their love and allowed their guests to share in the joy. Initially, the pair explored venues in Philadelphia but nothing felt quite right. “We just weren’t excited about any of the local options,” they explained. That’s when a friend suggested a destination wedding, and the idea immediately clicked. Having traveled to San Miguel de Allende in 2022 for Andrew’s 40th birthday, the city’s charm, colors, and energy left a lasting impression. “We quickly fell in love with the city during that trip,” they said. It became clear that this was the perfect place to celebrate their wedding.

In spring of 2023, they connected with Junebug vendor Bougainvillea Weddings to bring their vision to life. “The entire team took our design, ceremony, and reception ideas and ran with them,” the couple shared. “They delivered above and beyond to create the most amazing day of our lives.” Planning a destination wedding could have been overwhelming, but Bougainvillea Weddings made the process effortless. “We loved that they provided an excellent list of pros and gave thoughtful feedback on which ones would best fit the mood and aesthetics of our wedding,” they explained. One of them was Junebug vendor and photographer Fer De Jesus, whom the couple connected with virtually.

Zoom meetings with vendors also proved invaluable. “Because this was a destination wedding, having these calls was important to us,” they said. “We wanted to get to know our vendors as people and discuss what we wanted for our wedding day.”

The couple kicked off their wedding weekend with a callejoneada, or wedding parade, through Parque Benito Juárez. The parade, complete with a mariachi band, mojigangas (papier-mâché figures of Ryan, Andrew, and their dog Penny), and a burro, led guests through the charming streets of San Miguel de Allendel. “Our friends and family loved it—it was the perfect way to start the weekend and introduce everyone to the culture.”

The festivities continued with a rehearsal dinner at Casa San Jose, a venue with a stunning outdoor space. Guests enjoyed tacos al pastor under the stars while sharing heartfelt speeches. “It set the tone for the rest of the celebration.”

yan and Andrew started their wedding day with a laid-back, fun moment getting ready together. They helped each other with their suits, adjusted boutonnières, and straightened ties, all while sharing smiles and a few laughs. It was a relaxed, happy start to the day that set the tone for everything ahead.

Ryan and Andrew’s rooftop ceremony at Terraza Trinitate was nothing short of breathtaking. The venue showcased stunning views of the city and featured a vibrant floral arch in rich jewel tones of fuchsia, orange, and deep blue. The arch framed the rustic wooden doors, creating a romantic focal point. “Walking into the ceremony and seeing all the planning come to life was surreal,” they said. “It was overwhelming in the best way.”

The ceremony itself was deeply personal. “Our incredible officiant met with us individually to craft the perfect summary of our relationship,” they shared. They also included meaningful song lyrics as readings, and both nearly lost their composure during Wolf Alice’s Don’t Delete The Kisses:

Me and you were meant to be in love
I see the signs of a lifetime, you ‘til I die

To add a lighthearted moment, Ryan and Andrew included a unity ceremony featuring Casa Dragones tequila. “Taking that shot was such a fun way to catch our breath, smile, and set the mood for the rest of the night,” they said.

The jewel-tone color palette carried seamlessly into the reception decor, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Tables were dressed with floral arrangements in bold shades of fuchsia, red, orange, and purple, perfectly complemented by vintage glassware, gold flatware, and textured napkins that added a refined touch.

“We wanted the reception to feel like a lively fiesta while still being elegant,” the couple explained. The result was a stunning celebration that not only reflected their personalities but also encapsulated the vibrant spirit of their San Miguel de Allende wedding.

Another unexpected moment was a wedding cake gifted by the Bougainvillea team. “It was such a thoughtful gesture, and the cake was delicious!” they added. Photos of the couple cutting the cake are among their favorites from the evening.

Planning a destination wedding requires trust, and Ryan and Andrew were grateful for their planning team. “Bougainvillea reassured us every step of the way,” they shared. “They kept telling us not to worry, and they were right. Everything was perfect, from the flowers to the food to the overall vibe.”

Looking back on their San Miguel de Allende wedding, the couple’s advice to other couples is simple: “Do what feels authentic to you, and don’t rush the process. At the end of the day, it’s all about celebrating your love.”

This Couple Ditched the Beach for a Jungle-Inspired, Moroccan Villa Wedding in Tulum

January 29, 2025 | justine

A Moroccan villa, lush jungle vibes, and timeless elegance made this Tulum destination wedding an unforgettable celebration.

When Emily and Jose met at college in west Texas in 2018, they had no idea that morning gym sessions would lead to forever. Jose, a soccer player at the school, first noticed Emily when she would come in with her friend. “After seeing me at the gym, he followed me on Instagram, and we’ve been together ever since,” Emily shares. They knew they were meant to be because of how naturally they clicked and how perfectly they complemented each other. Five years later, Jose proposed on a sunny Miami beach.

Emily knew early on that she wanted a destination wedding—but not a typical beach resort event. “I wanted more of a jungle, earthy vibe,” she explains. After researching cities and comparing prices, they landed on a wedding in Tulum, Mexico. “It was perfect because it wasn’t too far from Texas, and Jose’s family speaks Spanish.”

“I didn’t want the wedding to feel too beachy,” Emily shares. She envisioned a more earthy setting with timeless details. She took her time comparing venues and reached out to wedding planners to help with the logistics. “Since I wasn’t in Mexico to visit places in person, I knew I needed a local wedding planner to help me communicate and recommend vendors.” The couple hired a Junebug Vendor Pride Maya Weddings, who helped bring Emily’s Pinterest board to life. “They were amazing and really understood my vision.”

When it came to selecting vendors, Emily’s approach was thorough. “I would look at their social media accounts to see if their work fit the vibe I was going for,” she explains. For the photography, she focused on finding someone who captured natural, in-the-moment shots with editing that matched her style. After careful research, she found exactly what she was looking for in Junebug vendor Elegance Photographie. “I didn’t want anything too posed—I wanted our photos to feel real.”

To kick off their wedding weekend, Emily and Jose hosted a welcome party and rehearsal dinner. “Even though I didn’t want a beach wedding, I wanted our guests to experience the beach while they were there,” Emily explains. The open taco bar and relaxed atmosphere set the perfect tone for the celebration. During dinner, guests were treated to an incredible sight—baby sea turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean. “It was such a special experience.”

Emily wanted her look to be timeless. “There are so many trends, but I didn’t want to look back at photos and regret my choices,” she explains. Her wedding dress was simple and elegant, while her reception dress added a touch of fun with its sparkly details.

The bridesmaids wore pearl yellow dresses, perfect for a wedding in Tulum, that were both subtle and eye-catching against the greenery, and the groomsmen’s tan suits complemented the palette perfectly.

“I saved on my dress because I knew I’d only wear it once, and it would get dirty,” Emily shares. She also prioritized budgeting for photography, food, and flowers. “The photos and videos last forever, and the food really makes the guest experience. Flowers bring the entire design together.”

The couple chose a stunning Moroccan villa surrounded by lush greenery, creating a dreamlike setting for their special day. The ceremony space was set over a serene pool with water reflecting the surrounding tropical foliage. The villa’s white facade, with its arched windows and thatched roof, was adorned with all-white arrangements.

The path leading up to the ceremony was lined with loose petals and string lights The overall look of their wedding in Tulum was modern yet organic, perfectly blending elegance with the natural surroundings. “I liked that the venue was a blank canvas,” Emily says. “It didn’t feel boho, and the architecture—with all the archways and unique details—gave it character.”

Walking down the aisle was an unforgettable moment for Emily. “Seeing my future husband standing there while a Christian song played made it incredibly personal and emotional,” she recalls. The couple wrote their own vows, filling them with personal anecdotes and humor. “Jose added some funny parts that we still laugh about today,” she adds.

The reception took place in an open-air poolside terrace. The highlight of the decor was the checkered black-and-white dance floor, which shimmered beneath a canopy of mirrored disco balls and chandeliers. “It looked beautiful in the photos and added a fun touch to the night,” Emily shares.

The tables were simple yet elegant, with dark wood, cascading runners of baby’s breath, crystal goblets, and personalized ceramic place cards. “We didn’t go overboard with small details, but the ones we did choose felt meaningful and personal,” Emily says. She filled an entire suitcase with personalized items like drink stirrers and napkins featuring her dog’s face.

Emily and Jose ensured their reception felt like a true celebration. “It’s important to make a playlist that’s diverse enough for all age groups,” Emily advises. The couple’s DJ kept the dance floor packed all night. “The checkered floor and disco balls made everything feel so festive,” Emily adds.

When asked for advice, Emily emphasizes the importance of letting go. “Don’t stress about things you can’t control. Everything will work out on that day,” she says. She also encourages couples to stay true to their vision. “There will always be trends and opinions from others, but this day is for you. Do what makes you happy.”

For Emily and Jose, their wedding in Tulum wasn’t just a celebration—it was a way to bring everyone they loved on a memorable adventure. “Everyone felt like they were on vacation,” Emily reflects. “It was a beautiful way to gather our family and friends and celebrate our story.”

Inside an Enchanting South Asian Shaadi in Los Cabos

When Shivani and Nilan dreamed of their wedding, they envisioned a vibrant celebration full of color, joy, and tradition set against the stunning backdrop of Los Cabos—and their Shaadi weekend exceeded every expectation. Spanning four unforgettable days filled with music, dance, and endless fun, their wedding beautifully combined cultural traditions with the breathtaking beauty of a seaside paradise. From the stunning outfit changes to the meticulously planned floral arrangements, every detail was a feast for the senses, perfectly complemented by the picturesque setting. With Junebug vendor Take It Photo capturing every moment, this celebration is truly one for the books.

Pithi-Haldi Ceremony

The Shaadi festivities began with the Pithi-Haldi ceremony, a vibrant and heartfelt pre-wedding tradition where loved ones apply turmeric paste to the couple, symbolizing blessings for glowing health and prosperity. Shivani and Nilan’s Pithi ceremony was an explosion of color, joy, and laughter, as seen in the playful throwing of petals and the exuberant atmosphere.

The decor featured cascading garlands of bright marigold blooms suspended over the seating area. The backdrop of blush, tangerine, and rose-hued blooms created a romantic contrast against the earthy tones of the venue.

For this special ceremony, Shivani wore a stunning ensemble featuring a blouse with intricate floral embroidery and a flowy ivory lehenga with nature-inspired motifs, paired with a sheer dupatta adorned with star-like embellishments. Her braid, decorated with delicate flowers, added an ethereal touch to her look. Nilan complemented her perfectly in a light sage-green kurta and crisp white trousers, creating a sophisticated yet laid-back vibe for the event.

From Shivani, “Our Haldi ceremony was a blend of tradition and symbolism. It’s a ritual that is as meaningful as it is colorful, aimed at protecting and blessing the bride and groom. Yet, it was our family’s involvement that really made the day stand out. Their laughter and stories transformed a traditional ceremony into a personal and unforgettable event.”

Sangeet Night

The Sangeet is a cherished pre-wedding event in Indian culture, traditionally known as “Music Night” or a “Musical Party.” It’s a celebration that brings together the couple’s families and friends in a joyous atmosphere filled with music, dance, and laughter. The evening often includes choreographed dance performances by loved ones, showcasing Bollywood-inspired routines, setting the stage for a fun, celebratory Shaadi weekend.

Tropical decor featuring vibrant floral arrangements of red ginger, bird-of-paradise blooms, and lush greenery on modern gold stands. The reception tables were adorned with playful pink and orange napkins, adding pops of color against the neutral tablecloths. The backdrop of the dance floor featured a neon sign that read ‘It Was Always You,’ framed by a lush jungle of foliage and bright florals. Photos of family love stories were displayed on a memory wall, honoring the legacies that brought Shivani and Nilan to this day.

The couple’s grand entrance set the tone for an unforgettable night,. Shivani and Nilan wowed in custom, coordinated outfits for their Sangeet ceremony. Shivani wore a midnight blue organza lehenga with velvet applique embroidered flowers on a corset top and a flared skirt. The shimmering accents  caught the light with every move. Nilan wore an intricate beaded custom sherwani with a pin tuck kurta pyjama and custom embroidered shoes.

Beyond the entertainment, the Sangeet symbolizes the blending of two families, breaking down barriers and fostering connections in a festive setting. Often, henna artistry adds to the celebration, allowing guests to experience the culturally rich tradition of Mehndi as a symbolic gesture of joy and beauty.

Sataak Ritual

The Sataak, an intimate but essential ritual in Hindu weddings, added a deep layer of cultural significance to the celebrations. As Shivani and Nilan performed traditional prayers and rites, their love and commitment shone through. The serene energy of this sacred event balanced the liveliness of the surrounding Shaadi festivities.

The breathtaking mandap was adorned with cascading arches of peach, blush, and cream florals, framed perfectly against the stunning Los Cabos ocean backdrop. The blooms added a soft, romantic touch to the lively atmosphere.

Intricately embroidered maroon dupattas rested on guest chairs as offerings of tradition and respect. The ceremonial items, including a picture of Saibaba, a delicate Om symbol created with rice, and gold statuettes, added spiritual significance to the setup.

Shivani looked stunning in a floral-embroidered mint green and ivory lehenga with intricate embellishments and a flowing dupatta. Nilan complemented her in a pastel blush sherwani with subtle geometric textures, completing a soft yet regal look.

The couple’s families joined them under the floral mandap, draped in hues of blush, red, and sage green, symbolizing unity. Each ritual was carried out with joy, laughter, and reverence as Shivani and Nilan performed the sacred rites.

Mehendi Pool Party

The pool party and mehndi event felt like stepping into a summer dream, , kicking off the Shaadi celebrations with style. The crisp blue and white decor set the perfect tone for the beachy yet chic vibes of Los Cabos, with personalized signs and giant “N & S” letters reflecting in the pool like a scene out of a movie.

The bride’s outfit stole the show—her vibrant pink ensemble, adorned with tassels and mirror work, added the right pop of fun and glam. Paired with bold earrings and chic sunglasses, she radiated joy, while Nilan kept it effortlessly cool with his laid-back yet polished vacation look.

Guests lounged under umbrellas, and laughter echoed as the mehndi artists adorned hands with intricate, tropical-inspired designs. There was no shortage of energy as friends and family embraced the warm sun and festive atmosphere.

The Wedding Ceremony

Shivani was absolutely stunning in her deep red lehenga adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishments, paired with a rich dupatta that added an extra layer of elegance. Her statement jewelry—a dazzling choker and matching earrings—brought a regal touch to her overall look. Nilan looked equally dashing in a cream sherwani with detailed embroidery that exuded timeless sophistication. His coordinating safa and string of pearls added the perfect finishing touches.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the ocean, Shivani and Nilan’s wedding ceremony was nothing short of magical. The mandap was truly a sight to behold—soft drapery, l cascading roses in shades of blush and ivory, and woven hanging baskets that added a natural, boho touch.

The aisle was adorned with flowers, guiding everyone to the stunning mandap. A standout feature was the intricate arch woven with roses, hydrangeas, and hanging wicker accents that gave the space a warm, bohemian touch.

Surrounded by family, the ceremony reflected rich traditions and heartfelt moments. From the symbolic washing of the groom’s feet by his parents to the exchanging of floral garlands, every detail of this part of their Shaadi weekend was steeped in meaning and love. As they sat beneath the ornate mandap, surrounded by floral drapery and lantern accents, the couple’s glowing smiles were a reflection of their commitment and connection.

A Glamorous Reception

The reception was an unforgettable celebration filled with glamour, joy, and vibrant energy. The entire room was transformed into a bold and romantic scene drenched in rich shades of red. Towering floral centerpieces of crimson roses created a  dramatic effect, while mirrored accents and sleek gold table details added a contemporary touch of elegance.

The velvet lounge seating on stage, surrounded by a breathtaking floral installation, felt like something straight out of a grand theater. Above it all, chandeliers glistened from the crimson-draped ceiling, casting a warm, sophisticated glow.

Shivani and Nilan made their grand entrance hand-in-hand, radiating happiness. Shivani’s reception look was pure magic—she wore a glittering ivory and silver lehenga that shimmered with every step. Nilan was equally polished in a classic black tuxedo, giving major old-Hollywood charm.

The dance floor came alive as friends and family performed choreographed routines that had everyone cheering. The atmosphere was electric, with music, laughter, and dancing that lasted late into the night. The couple’s joy was absolutely infectious as they celebrated surrounded by their loved ones under a sky of chandeliers and cascading red roses—a night of memories that felt as timeless as it was spectacular.

Shivani and Nilan’s Los Cabos Shaadi was the perfect blend of tradition and modern flair. Their love story shone brightly through every thoughtfully planned event, and their wedding weekend served as a joyful reminder of the beauty of cultural celebration and community. For anyone planning their dream Shaadi, this breathtaking celebration is proof that with the right team, your love story can be turned into a masterpiece.

This Romantic Garden Wedding Features Nearly 100 Floral Arrangements Sourced and Crafted By The Bride’s Mom

Bella and Sam’s romantic garden wedding was a floral masterpiece brought to life with love, creativity, and family. Hosted at the picturesque Hotel du Village, their celebration was a dreamy blend of vibrant blooms, personal touches, and an intimate connection to nature.

Sam and Bella, who both work in biotech sales, first met as college students at Syracuse University. Serendipitously placed in neighboring dorm rooms, they quickly became friends and officially started dating after a sorority date night set-up. Their wedding day honored their decade-long journey with heartfelt details inspired by their love of nature, family traditions, and a shared Celtic heritage.

The couple’s vision was to bring the outdoors in, creating a romantic yet formal setting infused with countryside charm. They fell in love with the first and only venue they toured, drawn to its incredible outdoor space. With their wedding held on a picturesque fall day, the setting perfectly framed their dream celebration.

The breathtaking florals—nearly 100 unique arrangements—were lovingly crafted by Bella and her mother. A lifelong gardener and creative soul, Bella’s mom took on the floral design with passion, sourcing stems from local farms and antique vases from nearby shops. The family’s barn served as a floral workshop in the days leading up to the wedding, with friends and family coming together to arrange stunning centerpieces and bouquets. Bella and Sam cherished the memory of picking fresh blooms for the bride’s bouquet.

The floral design extended to the tablescapes, which featured an array of fruits and vegetables—dripping grapes, luscious figs, pomegranates, honeynut squash, and pears—adding texture and a touch of Dutch master still-life artistry. The rich hues of the seasonal produce harmonized with the florals, creating a feast for the eyes. The wedding cake echoed this theme, decorated with cascading fruit.

The bridesmaids wore mixed and matched dresses in shades of olive green, gold, and brown, with textures like sequins, silk, and ruffles that complemented the fall landscape and added elegance to the nature-inspired palette.

Bella wore a stunning Martina Liana gown that felt like it was made for the day’s ethereal vibe. The romantic ruffles and 3D floral details gave it just the right amount of drama, while the soft ivory with subtle rose and beige undertones kept it delicate and organic.

Before their romantic garden wedding ceremony, Bella and Sam shared a private vow exchange after their first look—a cherished moment where they could reflect on their decade-long journey together.

The wedding was a true family affair. Bella’s younger sister officiated the ceremony, while Sam’s sisters performed heartfelt readings

As the sun set, the celebration seamlessly transitioned to a lively reception illuminated by golden candlelight and filled with laughter, music, and dancing.

The reception decor combined a vintage, romantic ambiance with lush floral arrangements and intricate details. Tables featured cascading centerpieces with a mix of dried and fresh blooms, creating a luxurious garden-inspired feel. The florals were displayed in antique-style vessels, adding to the vintage aesthetic.  The combination of florals, fruits, and warm candlelight captured the essence of rustic sophistication, blending old-world charm with modern romance.

Design details were carefully woven throughout the day, thanks to Bella’s sister, who created the invitation suite, menus, and signage A highlight of the decor was the hand-painted canvas seating display, depicting a landscape of Scottish highland cows. Vintage frames hung from the display, guiding guests to their tables. Table numbers featured framed woodland landscape prints, connecting the seating display, the guest gifts of printed matchboxes and bottle openers, and the overall theme.

Taper candles in deep jewel tones, paired with gold candlesticks and glass votives, contributed warmth and elegance to the setting. The tables were dressed with white linens, complemented by dark napkins and gold-rimmed chargers, creating a striking contrast. Individual place settings included beautifully designed menus, adding a personalized touch to each guest’s experience.

Later in the evening, Bella changed into a shorter party dress, ready to dance the night away.

The celebration didn’t end with the final dance. Guests continued the festivities with late-night bites at the bar before moving to the outdoor fire pits. S’mores, cocktails, and crisp fall air made for a cozy, unforgettable after-party that lasted into the early morning.

Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to loved ones with specific talents—they’ll cherish being part of the process, and it adds a unique, heartfelt touch to your celebration. Modern Meets Nature in This Fresh Wedding Inspiration that Redefines Luxury

January 7, 2025 | justine

When Junebug vendor The Art and Romance created this modern wedding inspiration styled shoot, the goal was clear: to merge contemporary style with timeless elegance and redefine luxury through thoughtful details. The breathtaking Camelot, a private beachfront property with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, served as the perfect setting to bring this vision to life. Through seamless collaboration with a talented team of creatives, the shoot became a celebration of beauty and innovation.

“Our theme, A Timeless Affair, was inspired by the desire to blend modernity with timeless elegance,” Gabi, The Art and Romance Creative Director shared. “I firmly believe that no matter how talented an individual may be, achieving the best results is only possible with the support of an exceptional team.”

If you’re a couple who loves bold, modern fashion and elegant, personalized details, this styled shoot captured by Wonder and Magic is for you. Whether you’re dreaming of a sleek vibe or something that blends nature with luxury, there’s no shortage of ideas to help make your wedding day unforgettable.

The Art and Romance

Although this styled shoot didn’t feature a formal ceremony setup, Camelot’s diverse spaces offered endless possibilities for couples. “The beachfront setting is magical, with its direct access to the sandy Whiting Bay beach and sensational ocean views,”

For a romantic yet contemporary look, the strapless dress with a short bubble skirt was the epitome of elegance with a fresh twist. “Each dress of this modern wedding inspiration shoot reflected a balance of classic design with modern refinement,” Gabi shares.

Junebug Tip: The dress featured above is the perfect dress to take from ceremony to reception! Add a sleek skirt for the ceremony and then remove for a fun and chic reception look.

“For couples seeking a serene and elegant atmosphere, the lush lawn area framed by greenery provides an equally stunning option. The venue’s contemporary design and serene surroundings make it perfect for creating an intimate and unforgettable celebration.”

Adding a touch of playful sophistication, the one-shoulder gown featured a dramatic tiered bubble skirt, making it an unforgettable choice for the modern, fashion-admiring bride.

The wedding signage featured a modern design metal frame, leather, and embossed details. “We incorporated leather accents intertwined with embossed elements to evoke a sense of tactile refinement,” Gabi explains.

The intimate reception was a perfect blend of understated luxury and natural beauty, combining bold, modern elements with organic textures. A dark leather-covered table and sleek plates created a sophisticated foundation, while silver flatware added a touch of elegance. An earthy centerpiece brought a natural touch, and wildflowers and foliage introduced pops of color, effortlessly tying together the surroundings with the refined design.

One of the standout aspects of this shoot was its innovative approach to sustainability. “What made this shoot truly exceptional was its seamless fusion of innovation, tradition, and sustainability. Our vision was to embrace everything the breathtaking location of Camelot had to offer while incorporating thoughtful, locally inspired details. This approach celebrated the natural beauty of the venue while emphasizing sustainability, ensuring every element felt intentional and meaningful.”

Of course, the day wasn’t without its challenges. “The strong wind on the day of the shoot was definitely a hurdle. It complicated outdoor setups and delicate details like table decor and veil shots. But it also added unexpected magic to the images, giving them movement and an organic quality we couldn’t have planned for.”

The bride’s third outfit change featured a sleek, structured strapless dress that made a striking minimalist statement, perfectly capturing the essence of modern bridal style.

The wedding cake was a stunning modern sculptural design, displayed on a sleek black cake stand. The table it sat on was elegantly adorned with white skirting and a bold black bow, offering a unique and stylish twist on traditional cake displays.

Another bridal look featured a stunning sculptural 80s-inspired wedding dress with a striking neckline and bubble peplum skirt. The dramatic volume and delicate texture created a truly show-stopping, romantic vibe.

A beautiful bridal portrait idea with the bride standing in the pool, holding a pearl veil. The veil gently floats on the water, creating a clean, elegant shot with a touch of sophistication.

For couples inspired by this stunning design, Gabi encourages them to make their day personal and purposeful. “Don’t be afraid to mix textures and embrace unique details that speak to who you are as a couple. The most memorable celebrations are the ones that feel personal and intentional.” This modern wedding inspiration styled shoot beautifully showcases how elegance can be redefined through thoughtful design, meaningful details, and a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty.

A Floral Rue de Seine Wedding Dress Inspired this Nature-Filled Celebration

January 2, 2025 | justine

When Taylor and Siegen started planning their wedding, they knew one thing for certain: the dress would be the star. Siegen’s stunning floral Rue de Seine wedding dress became the centerpiece of their nature-inspired celebration, shaping everything from the florals to the reception decor.  n

“It was challenging because Taylor didn’t want to see the dress until the wedding day,” shared Siegen. “He was super hands-off about the dress, but he ended up coordinating so many other details, like his suit, the flowers, and even the reception design.”

The couple’s vision came together perfectly, thanks in large part to the inspiration from the floral wedding gown. The color palette reflected the soft, breezy feeling of pre-autumn, with hues that perfectly complemented the gown’s romantic floral details. “I wanted something organic and nature-inspired, but Taylor wanted a more modern feel,” Siegen explained. “Somehow, it all clicked and ended up looking so cohesive.”

Their chosen venue, The Oaks, echoed that balance of nature and modernity. “The venue was just right—quaint garden vibes with luxury amenities,” Taylor said. “We looked at so many options, but this one was perfect for what we envisioned.”

Take a closer look at the meaningful moments from Taylor and Siegen’s wedding, captured beautifully by Junebug vendor McKenzie Bigliazzi Photography. These images bring their love story to life, showcasing the special details and unforgettable moments that made their day truly unique.

For Taylor, the moment Siegen walked down the aisle in her floral Rue de Seine wedding dress was something he would never forget. “Seeing Siegen in her dress was magical—just unforgettable,” he shared. “It’s a memory I’ll carry with me forever.”

Siegen felt the same way when she saw Taylor standing at the altar. “Seeing him in his suit and sharing our vows was everything,” Siegen said. “And the decor—it was amazing. We’re still getting compliments about it!” She also gave a special shout-out to KaraKara Blooms, the designer responsible for the stunning floral arrangements.

When it comes to their favorite wedding photos, both Taylor and Siegen had standout moments. Taylor’s favorite was a stunning shot of Siegen in her floral dress, framed by the flower arch and trees in the background. “That shot is just perfect,” he said.

Their photographer, McKenzie Bigliazzi, captured these unforgettable moments, and Siegen had nothing but praise. “McKenzie was incredible. Not only was she our photographer, but she also helped us plan everything. She was calm, patient, and just executed everything perfectly.”

While they originally set a $25,000 budget for their wedding, Taylor and Siegen ended up doubling that amount, spending over $50,000 to ensure everything was perfect. “We wanted this day to be unforgettable, so we didn’t hold back,” Siegen shared. “The florals, the food, the venue—all of those things were worth splurging on.”

“We kept our guest list smaller, which helped balance the cost,” Taylor added. “We stuck to close family and friends, which ended up reducing costs but allowed us to really focus on the things that mattered most.”

Create a whimsical wedding table aesthetic with moss, garden florals, and these glass hurricane candle holders.

And, of course, they had plenty of fun at the reception. “The photo booth was a hit with everyone,” Siegen said. “It was such a fun way to capture memories throughout the night.”

Despite their large splurge on decor and venue, Taylor and Siegen made sure to keep things personal and fun. They even created mini “Post-Wedding Weekend Recovery” kits for guests, anticipating a few sore heads the morning after. “We thought it might get a little wild, so we wanted to make sure our guests were taken care of!”

The couple also appreciated the support from their vendors. “Love, Emily Bakery was amazing. She stepped in at the last minute to cater the cake and desserts and was so easy to work with,” said Taylor. “Everything she made was delicious!”

The DJ also received high praise for his ability to time everything perfectly. “He kept the vibe exactly how we wanted it,” Siegen added.

Taylor and Siegen have some valuable tips for couples planning their own weddings. “Definitely plan to double—or even triple—your original budget,” Taylor said. “We started with $25,000 in mind but ended up spending around $50,000. And it still wasn’t quite enough!”

Siegen added, “And when it comes to the guest list, be clear about how many invites you’re sending. We only allowed one invitation per couple, not per person, which helped keep things intimate.”

Their final piece of advice? “Start thinking about your wedding songs and timing well in advance. It makes everything run smoother when you’ve planned ahead!”

In the end, Taylor and Siegen’s wedding was everything they imagined—a floral-filled celebration that perfectly balanced organic beauty with modern flair, all thanks to the inspiration from the floral Rue de Seine wedding dress.

An Intimate Venice Elopement That Focused on Photos, Family, and Creating Memories

December 31, 2024 | justine

For Jade and Ian, the idea of a traditional wedding never quite fit their vision. “We wanted to elope but knew we’d want our children there,” they shared. “So, we decided to just take our nearest and dearest — both mothers, Ian’s sister, and her husband. We planned a wedding party back home to celebrate with everyone else.”

“Our vibe was ‘go with the flow. We were very flexible and easygoing with our wedding planning. All we wanted was an intimate Venice elopement, surrounded by our closest loved ones.”

Finding the venue turned out to be a serendipitous moment. “We found the Scala Contarini del Bovolo online. Ian had proposed in Venice a year before, and we’d planned to visit the Scala then but ran out of time,” Jade recalled. “When I saw it was available for weddings, there was no second thought. It was the perfect venue for our Venice elopement.”

With the breathtaking canals and bridges of Venice as their backdrop, Jade and Ian trusted Emma Jane Photography to document their special day. “Finding Emma made our experience magical,” Jade said. “She completely understood the assignment, capturing everything from romantic water and bridge shots to fun café moments. Our photos make it look like our Venice elopement spanned multiple days. Just perfect.”

“Emma was more than a photographer; she became a friend for life,” Jade added. “Her professionalism and thoughtfulness allowed us to relax and enjoy our day. We couldn’t have done it without her.”

The day began with an early morning photo session. “Walking through the city hand in hand, with little to no tourists around, felt magical,” they said. “It was just the two of us creating memories with our small family, and we’ll forever be grateful for the experience Emma enabled us to have.”

Jade’s wedding dress by Madi Lane was a vision of timeless beauty. “I had it altered to suit my style, adding straps and an underskirt slit,” she shared. The bridesmaids, including their daughters and Ian’s sister, wore white dresses, while the men’s tuxedos completed the traditional look.

Jade and Ian started with a budget of £15,000 but quickly surpassed it. “Weddings are expensive,” Jade said. “But by reaching out myself instead of using a wedding planner, we saved some money. We splurged on a private terrace for our wedding meal and a 1960s boat for photographs with Emma. Both were worth every penny.”

Planning an intimate Venice elopement in August came with its challenges, including high temperatures and traveling with four children. “There were some tears along the way, but we wouldn’t change a thing,” Jade admitted. “Looking back at the photos Emma captured, we just laugh. Kids will be kids!”

One of the most memorable parts of the day was their coffee break. “The café photos are absolutely gorgeous,” Jade said. “The memory behind them makes them even more special. We were surrounded by people taking photos, trying to keep a straight face, and laughing non-stop. It was such a fun moment.”

Their Italian officiant crafted a deeply personal ceremony. “She contacted us beforehand with a questionnaire that she used to write our love story. It felt so intimate and beautiful.”

A cozy, intimate reception with stunning views of the Venice waters, where the kids excitedly join in the cake cutting, sharing a special moment with the newlyweds. The whole scene feels warm and personal, with everyone enjoying the celebration together.

Reflecting on their planning experience, the couple offered advice for other couples. “Be open to change on the day. We let the day flow naturally instead of sticking to a strict schedule. It made everything feel stress-free and perfectly imperfect.”

Jade and Ian’s intimate Venice elopement was everything they dreamed of and more. “It brought us closer together. We’ll carry these memories with us forever.”

Style, Symbolism, and Reverence: Inside a Magical Realism Destination Wedding in Oaxaca

December 27, 2024 | justine

When Irene and Davis decided to have their destination wedding in Oaxaca, they wanted more than a picture-perfect day—they wanted to create a story. Inspired by literature, local traditions, and their shared love for art and architecture, their celebration became a breathtaking blend of culture, creativity, and connection. From a serene museum courtyard ceremony to a reception straight out of a dream, every detail reflected their vision and personality.

For them, Oaxaca wasn’t just a location—it was a feeling. “Our first trip as a couple was to Mexico, and Oaxaca immediately captured our hearts,” they shared. “We wanted our loved ones to experience the warmth and beauty of the place that felt like home to us.”

Planning from afar came with its challenges, but thanks to their planner, Marcela Gonzalez, everything came together seamlessly. Over nine months, Irene and Davis poured their hearts into designing a wedding that was both authentic and unforgettable.

Chucho Potts, their photographer, was captivated from the start. “Every shot felt like art. Irene and Davis put so much of themselves into this day—it was pure inspiration everywhere I turned.”

Irene chose a stunning Schiaparelli draped two-tone bustier gown they spotted together at Bergdorf’s. “We loved the contrast—the ecru satin bustier against the black velvet back,” she said. Her gold Piferi platforms added a bold, sculptural touch.

Davis complemented her look with a sleek Gucci tuxedo and Saint Laurent loafers, and the couple even co-designed a bow for Irene’s hair, inspired by the Korean doturak daenggi tradition. “We threw out all the old wedding rules. We styled each other, shopped together, and had a blast doing it.”

The morning of the wedding was filled with last-minute touches—steaming clothes, revising scripts—but all the stress melted away when they saw each other for the first time. “It was like we could finally breathe.”

Their ceremony took place at Museo Belber, a hidden gem celebrating Oaxaca’s rich craft history. Guests moved through the museum’s tranquil courtyards before arriving at an intimate space where Irene and Davis exchanged vows. Minimalist yet intentional, the setting featured a simple white stage, a stucco backdrop, and delicate calla lilies—a nod to Irene’s childhood in California.

Their mothers officiated the ceremony in vibrant hanboks, while a guitarist and bassist played an acoustic version of the K-pop hit “Eternal Love” for Irene’s entrance—a sweet surprise from Davis. And in a surreal twist, a bee stung Irene’s aunt mid-ceremony. “She stayed so calm—it felt like a whimsical little omen for the day.”

The theme of magical realism wove through every element of their day. “We wanted something familiar but unexpected, strange but serene,” they explained. Inspiration came from Italo Calvino’s Under the Jaguar Sun and Oaxaca’s Noche de Rábanos festival, which celebrates radish carving as an art form.

After the ceremony, guests spilled into the streets for a vibrant calenda—a lively Oaxacan tradition featuring music, dancing, and pure joy. Accompanied by a brass band, they paraded through the cobblestone streets, celebrating with a mix of locals and travelers alike.

In a lucky and unexpected moment, they even joined another wedding’s parade, turning two celebrations into one big, joyful party. “It felt like the whole city was celebrating with us,” Irene and Davis said.

The reception was where their theme of magical realism truly came to life. The setting was a stunning showcase—calla lilies appeared to dance in fountains and peek through playful arrangements of Chinese long beans. Drawing inspiration from a blend of traditions, the decor seamlessly married the intricate food towers of the Korean pyebaek ceremony with the festive spirit of Oaxaca’s Noche de Rábanos.

For the overall design, Irene and Davis collaborated with San Jacinto to create a space that felt ethereal yet intimate. Inspired by Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s iconic wrapped installations, they draped parts of the architecture in soft fabric, adding a layer of tenderness and warmth. “We loved how wrapping the space made it feel more inviting and dreamlike.”

They kept the decor intentional and minimal, allowing the natural beauty of Casa Oaxaca and their guests to take center stage. “The space didn’t need much—it was already stunning. We just wanted to add a little magic and let the love and energy of the night do the rest.”

The couple’s design inspiration was eclectic yet cohesive: Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s ephemeral art, the structured elegance of pyebaek food towers, the quirky creativity of Gohar World, and the structural floral designs of Grace Jolie and Aiku Floral. Each detail reflected their shared love for art, architecture, and storytelling, weaving their personalities into every corner of the celebration.

“Our goal was to create a space that felt dramatic yet tender, a reflection of our relationship and the people we love. The decor was just the backdrop; the real beauty came from the joy and warmth everyone brought to the evening.”

For dinner, Chef Ruiz of Casa Oaxaca crafted dishes that celebrated Oaxacan flavors. “Our first date included pork and octopus,” Irene shared. “Davis broke his vegetarianism for me that day, so it felt poetic to share those dishes with everyone.”

Irene changed into a chic asymmetrical ruffle-trim gown, perfectly blending elegance and playfulness. With the formalities behind them, the energy shifted as guests hit the dance floor, swept up in laughter, music, and pure joy. Under the glow of party lights and the magic of the Oaxacan night, the celebration became an unforgettable party where everyone let loose.

For couples dreaming of a destination wedding, Irene and Davis had this to say: “Respect the land, its people, and its culture. Oaxaca is changing quickly, and we wanted to honor its history while celebrating our own.”

From the heartfelt ceremony to the playful, artful reception, their wedding wasn’t just an event—it was an experience. Irene and Davis brought their story to life in a way that honored the past, celebrated the present, and inspired everyone lucky enough to be a part of it.
