Luxuriously Boho Akiin Tulum Destination Wedding

September 11, 2022 | justine

As a couple from two different countries, Robyn and Mike decided to “meet halfway” with their loved ones for their big day. And what better way to bring them all together than by turning their Tulum destination wedding into a getaway vacation! Boasting a deep rich sunset-inspired color palette, show-stopping floral arrangements, and a boho luxe aesthetic, the couple–along with their talented vendor team–created a stunning celebration at one of the best spots in the Mexican Caribbean.

With an aisle of layered rugs leading to a unique crescent arch, the ceremony was set on the beautiful shores of Akiin Beach. For the reception, candles and lush florals lined the staircase and greeted guests as they made their way to the thatch-roofed palapa. Abundant blooms, tropical foliage, and feathery pampas filled the tablescapes. And we can’t forget about the gorgeous overhead disco ball installation. After the evening festivities, the celebration continued with an epic after-party complete with samba dancers, stilt walkers, and drum beaters!

The romantic atmosphere and festive vibe truly embodied what Robyn and Mike envisioned. From the stylish lounges and dreamy dance floor set up at the beach to the lit party accessories, you need to see all the spectacular details up close. Looking for beach wedding inspiration that’s equal parts laid-back luxury and fiery romance? Then you need to see these incredible images captured by Andre Gouin Photography.

Bringing Their Loved Ones Together For Their Tulum Destination Wedding

I’m from England, and Mike is from the U.S. We knew we wanted a destination wedding and for all our loved ones to meet in one place where we could all have a wonderful vacation. We fell in love with Tulum a few years prior and knew it would be the perfect place to share with our friends and family. Akiin proved itself to be the perfect venue in Tulum for us. We were able to customize the entire venue along with Fresa Weddings and Magnolia Events. Akiin also holds a large guest capacity–more than many venues in Tulum. We were able to have our large wedding of 80 guests without sacrificing the destination of our dreams.

Personalizing Their Day With A Private Vow Exchange And A Special Mayan Ceremony

We shared our first looks and read our vows to each other in front of our family and wedding party in the stunning entryway of Casa Malca. It was a private moment we could cherish with our loved ones. The ceremony that followed at Akiin was unbelievably special. We felt it necessary to honor the sacred ground we celebrated on. So, just after our dear friend Nick greeted our guests, Spirituality Riviera Maya gave us an incredible Prehispanic Mayan ceremony that drenched the evening in plumes of copal and united us forever with words of healing, wisdom, and love. Letting the elements of nature—Mother Earth and the “heart of the sky”—know of our commitment through different rituals and offerings.

Creating A Wedding Day That Truly Embodied Their Personalities And Love Story

The most important part of planning our wedding was ensuring that our day reflected us as a couple and was as unique as we were. We wanted our guests to be able to feel that every part of the wedding embodied us—how much fun we like to have, the abundance of love we share, and how spiritual the sacred Mayan ground was. Lastly, we also wanted to feel like “the main characters,” and truly every moving piece of the day went so perfectly that it didn’t seem real, just like a dream.

Hiring A Local Planner Was Essential To The Success Of Their Destination Wedding

We wouldn’t have been able to do it without Sofía of Magnolia Events helping us with all the details for our wedding. We’d tell her and our wedding designer Kristee of Fresa Weddings what we liked, not knowing a single thing about planning a wedding, and they would find us exactly what we wanted, often finding multiple options for us. From helping us choose and contact our vendors to helping us make decisions about what color the taper candles should be, they absolutely crafted the wedding of our dreams.

Surprising Their Guests With An After-Party Complete With Exciting Performances

Our evening reception took place in the beautiful palapa. Filled with love and laughter and just buzzing with conversation and pure happiness, shared by all of us as the sun went down. The venue was filled with florals, lit beautifully by candles whose soft light danced across the disco balls and created the most romantic setting for an intimate dinner. We love a good party and never wanted a moment of downtime for our guests. As soon as dinner ended, we took to the dance floor to share our first dance and then surprised our guests with an unforgettable performance by samba dancers, percussionists, stilt walkers, and water drums. All to get the party started. DJ Dulce Rullan played the perfect music to set the mood for us all to dance the night away

Floral Filled Rupert on Rupert Wedding

September 4, 2022 | justine

Lauren and Donal’s Rupert on Rupert wedding is a flower lover’s dream! Featuring show-stopping florals in a fresh and vibrant color palette, florist Salt Flower showcased unique arrangements that perfectly complemented their warehouse restaurant venue’s lush botanical decor and tropical industrial vibe.

While the plant-filled Conservatory provided a breathtaking backdrop for their ceremony, the big and bold floral installation at the altar was the statement piece. For the reception that followed, long-stemmed blooms in clear vases softened the urban yet quirky aesthetic of the Main Hall.

A gorgeous celebration like this calls for equally stunning attire. The bride’s pearl-detailed wedding dress hit all the right fashion notes, while the groom went for a timeless look with a classic suit and pink tie. If you’re in search of wedding inspo where the florals take centerstage, then look no further. Scroll through and swoon over these beautiful details as captured by Kyra Boyer

Personalizing Their Wedding By Writing Their Vows And Weaving Their Love Story Into The Ceremony

The ceremony, officiated by Wendy Does Weddings, was amazing. We wrote our own vows, Wendy was great at weaving in our personal narrative, and our ceremony felt like it perfectly captured the feeling we wanted. It was full of laughter and joy. She made it feel like she’d known us forever and wasn’t just reading off a script about a pair of strangers.

Their Wedding Photographer Made Them Feel Confident And Relaxed In Front Of The Camera

Coming from two people who don’t like taking photos of themselves, the process of finding a photographer was daunting. We spent a lot of time researching to find someone that fits our style. We found Kyra and knew we had made the right choice because she was amazing! She provided the perfect amount of direction while keeping the process natural and not feeling awkward. We enjoyed our time with her, and she was fantastic at finding candid moments to capture throughout the night.

Our advice for couples who just started their wedding journey is to have a good excel spreadsheet to track costs and planning and to stay organized so you can have your pick of vendors. It really matters to get the right support on your big day so you can enjoy it without the stress.

Proud Of Their Rupert on Rupert Wedding Vibe

We wanted the wedding to feel like “us,” and we followed our intuition. We think it’s important to stay true to yourselves and not try to please others. We’re so proud that the overall vibe matched what we envisioned and how much people enjoyed themselves.

Rainy Day Admiral’s House Wedding

September 3, 2022 | justine

Rain may be the ultimate fear for any couple on their big day, but not for Caitlin and Grant. This couple embraced the unpredictable weather and made the rain on their Admiral’s House wedding work in their favor. On a majestic estate with unobstructed lake and city skyline views—their rainy day soiree featured whimsical florals and decor, a fresh and romantic color palette, and gorgeous wedding fashion.

Dressed to the nines for the special occasion, the bride was a vision in her ethereal blue ombre gown. Meanwhile, the groom looked timeless in a classic black tux. The pair promised each other a lifetime of love under a gorgeous floral arbor that perfectly framed the moment they said their “I dos”. Following the garden ceremony, their guests were treated to a stunning waterfront reception where they dined and danced all night under hanging lush florals and a canopy of string lights

From the chic transparent umbrellas to a decked-out clear marquee, scroll through these incredible images captured by Wiley Putnam Photography to find out how the pair leveled up their celebration and didn’t let the bad weather rain on their parade.

The Wedding:

The Admirals House, Seattle, Washington, United States

Personalized Details Included Wearing An Heirloom Floral Wreath And Including Their Pet

We have a family tradition of wearing a floral wreath that has been passed down for generations. The first bride to wear it at her wedding was in 1871. I was the 26th family member to wear it. I had my florist rework the delicate wreath by adding tea roses, baby’s breath and greenery. We also had our fur baby Ziggy recess with us after the ceremony.

Preparing For Their Rainy Admiral’s House Wedding Day

Fun fact, it was the rainiest day of the year in Seattle and if you know anything about Seattle, you know it was pouring. We knew the rain was going to be relentless and so we added a lot of tents. We already had a large reception tent, but we had to add a smaller ceremony tent and three pop-up tents for the bar, photo booth, and valet areas.

Making A Donation To An Environmental Charity Instead Of Wedding Favors

Our priorities were to make our wedding day a fun guest experience and limit things that would end up in the landfill. In lieu of traditional favors, and because we love the earth, we opted to donate to a charity grassroots organization called Thousand Currents in honor of our guests. They work with small local organizations driving climate change impact around the world.

They Became Fast Friends With Their Photographer

Wiley Putnam Photography was so much fun! We got to know each other during our engagement shoot, so on the wedding day, it was like hanging out with a friend. He even came to our after-party and sang karaoke with the late-night crowd.

Elegant Casa Adela Destination Wedding

September 1, 2022 | justine

Planning a destination wedding in the middle of the pandemic might be a tall order, but not for Valyce and Dorian. In fact, this adventurous couple made the brave decision to get married somewhere they’d never been. After postponing their plans for a year, with the help of their planner Elana Walker Events and their trusted team of vendors, they pulled off the elegant Casa Adela destination wedding they’ve been dreaming of.

Surrounded by breathtaking 360-degree views of the high desert valley, the couple said their “I do’s” under a romantic floral arch adorned with crystal drop pendants. It was followed by a dreamy reception featuring hanging foliage and blooms that beautifully complemented the tablescape filled with lush white florals. They continued the celebration in the outdoor courtyard under the glow of string lights and the night sky.

The gorgeous photos captured by their photographer and Junebug member Nahuel Aseff are proof that their Casa Adela destination wedding was worth the wait! If you and your partner think that tying the knot at a beautiful location embodies  romance, then get ready to swoon. This is definitely the getaway wedding inspo you’ve been looking for.

The Couple:

Valyce and Dorian

The Wedding:

Casa Adela, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Why A Casa Adela Destination Wedding

We were looking for a venue that gave traditional hacienda vibes and it was important to us that our immediate family could use our wedding weekend as an opportunity to bond. We also needed defined areas for the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and after party. Casa Adela met and exceeded our needs. The grounds were beautifully landscaped. The open courtyard and cobblestone floor provided the hacienda style we envisioned and served as the location of the dinner and party. The rooftop was ideal for a sunset ceremony with the mountains in the background. And the poolside cocktail hour added a bit of luxe to the evening. As a bonus, there were enough bedrooms for us to host our immediate family at Casa Adela, creating the perfect atmosphere for quality time.

Personalizing Their Ceremony By Having Their Guests Bless Their Rings

We decided not to have a wedding party but still wanted our guests to be part of the ceremony. We invited our guests to participate in a blessing of our rings. The rings were placed in a box and passed among the audience. Each guest said a silent prayer or words of hope over our rings. Once the rings were passed to each guest, Dorian and I exchanged the rings blessed by our family and friends.

Their Photographer Granted Their Request To Explore The Town For Post-Ceremony Portraits

Nahuel Aseff was one of the best choices we made for our wedding. Nahuel’s portfolio gave artistic and somewhat moody but natural vibes. Working with him on the day was better than we could have imagined. Nahuel blended into the background of the getting-ready process, ceremony, and reception, and the results were spectacular, capturing wonderfully organic moments. Nahuel granted our wish to have a secondary location for post-ceremony photos while our guests enjoyed the cocktail hour. He whisked us off to the neighboring town to capture pictures against the backdrop of a beautiful and historic Sanctuary of Atotonilco. Those photos represent our memories from our dream day, and we love them.

Their Dreamy Reception Was The Most Memorable Part Of their Casa Adela Destination Wedding

The most memorable part of the day was during the reception. I remember looking up at the flowers hanging from the chandeliers and then at the people sitting around the dinner table, laughing and engaging with one another. I felt blessed and incredibly proud of the families my husband and I were bringing together.

Their Wedding Planner Was Key To The Success Of Their Casa Adela Destination Wedding

We made the right decision to hire a wedding planner early. Elana Walker’s location scouting and communication skills were invaluable, precisely when we decided to postpone the wedding for one year due to the pandemic. Regardless of the wedding planner, the best advice we could give couples is to spend the necessary time to develop your vision. Decide how you want to feel throughout the day moments and make them happen.

They Pulled Off A Memorable Casa Adela Destination Wedding With The Help Of Their Trusted Vendor Team

It took a sense of adventure and a tremendous amount of faith to commit to a wedding in a location where we’ve traveled. We managed to plan and execute a destination wedding in a pandemic, which wasn’t easy. Add on the stress of the uncertainty that accompanies a global pandemic, and the level of faith required increases exponentially. We researched and trusted our vendors—that all the elements of our vision would be there when we arrived for the wedding weekend. It was worth it to have the opportunity to spend quality time with close family and friends in the Mexican countryside. It was an experience that we will all treasure forever.

Opulent Downtown Brisbane Hotel Wedding

August 30, 2022 | justine

Alex and Wade originally planned to have a destination wedding but had to cancel due to the pandemic. With lockdowns and restrictions in place, the pair decided to tie the knot closer to home instead. And it turned out to be the best decision in the end. Hosting their celebration at a stunning urban resort, using a sweet but sophisticated color palette, and adding lots of personal touches—their downtown Brisbane hotel wedding was a fun and unique experience shared with their loved ones

Their big day was filled with colorful florals and decor that perfectly complemented The Calile Hotel’s muted interiors and chic minimalist vibe. For the ceremony, low altar flowers in peach, coral, and pink beautifully framed the moment the couple exchanged their vows. The reception that followed featured a sleek tablescape of thoughtfully placed centerpieces and artful blooms in bud vases.

From the bride’s sister walking her down the aisle and their two pug ring bearers to forgoing a first dance and cake cutting, the pair were very intentional with what they included in their celebration. Scroll through these incredible images captured by photographer Todd Hunter Mcgaw for unique ideas on how to seamlessly add personality to your wedding day!

The Couple:

Alex and Wade

The Wedding:

The Calile Hotel, Brisbane, Australia

Change Of Plans That Led To Their Downtown Brisbane Hotel Wedding

We originally planned a destination wedding in Bali for early 2021 but, like many others, had to cancel because of the pandemic. When choosing another venue, we wanted to pick something close to our hometown of Brisbane to avoid having to cancel again because of travel restrictions. The architecture and interiors of the Calile Hotel are stunning, and we liked the convenience of having the ceremony and reception in one place. The hotel provided all the catering, drinks, and furniture, making the planning process straightforward, precisely what we wanted after planning and canceling one wedding.

They Surprised Their Guests With An Appearance Of Their Beloved Ring Bearer Pugs

We had one major surprise that we both knew about. Our guests, however, did not. Our two pugs were the ring bearers. The best man pretended to forget the rings and ran out of the room. Then, he re-entered with our two dogs, one ring on each, dressed in tuxedos. Our guests erupted with laughter and tears. It took all the pressure out of the room and replaced it with fun.

Skipping Wedding Traditions For A More Personalized Wedding Experience

We are proud that we decided to include only things that felt authentic to us as a couple and not feel pressure to include something for the sake of tradition if it didn’t feel right for us.–things like not having a first dance or cake cutting and Alex’s twin sister walking her down the aisle rather than a parent.

Their Downtown Brisbane Hotel Wedding Was Filled With Memorable Experiences

The entire day was so much fun and went by so quickly. During the day, Alex was so nervous about walking down the aisle and saying our vows, but on the day, it ended up being such a highlight. Our speeches were all hilarious, and we had the best time just dancing for hours with our family and friends.

Choosing Like-Minded Vendors Whose Values And Style Aligned With Their Vision

The most significant piece of advice we would give any couple planning their wedding is to be selective with vendors and not to focus just on price. We suggest asking your planner or venue for their recommendations on who they like to work with. Vendors will also be likely to recommend other professionals with a similar style to them, which can help produce a really cohesive look. Every single vendor we worked with was an absolute pro and not only fantastic at what they do but also made the lead-up and the wedding day go so smoothly. Experienced vendors might seem more expensive, but the right vendor should be able to work within your budget to produce something amazing. For example, we had a relatively small budget for flowers, but we are still getting compliments on them months later, thanks to our amazing florist.

Cozy Dover Hall Estate Wedding With Surprise Gender Reveal

August 22, 2022 | justine

Paris and Ryan’s Dover Hall estate wedding is a classic pandemic wedding story, but with a little twist—a postponed big day and a baby on the way! While the pair certainly had a lot on their plate, with the help of their planner Yolanda Smith, they were able to celebrate two exciting milestones. During the ceremony, the bride showed off her pregnant belly for the first time as she walked down the aisle. And it wasn’t the only revelation that day. The couple took it one step further at the reception with a gender reveal by showering their guests with blue confetti.

Surrounded by spectacular views of the rolling hills and woodlands, the castle-like Dover Hall was the stunning backdrop for their dreamy wedding. Keen to let the English-Tudor-inspired ballroom shine, Florist Tanya Cornwell filled the space with lush greenery and rich, bold blooms. For the ceremony, aisle chair florals perfectly complemented the asymmetrical garland and pillar that adorned the ornate stone fireplace. The same arrangements were repurposed as the ballroom was flipped for their elegant reception. Tablescapes with towering and low centerpieces kept the aesthetic timeless.

From the romantic portraits around the stunning property to all of the touching moments throughout the day, Barbara O Photography did an incredible job capturing the love and joy on their special day. If you and your partner have been pining for a countryside wedding at a grand estate mansion, this is definitely the inspo you’ve been looking for.

A Dover Hall Estate Wedding That Ticked All The Right Boxes

I was keen on the perfect venue selection to reflect both of our personalities, while Ryan’s most important wedding feature was having all of his friends and family attend. Although our wedding had such a diverse group of guests, our picturesque venue, vibrant DJ, and flawless wedding flow secured the interest of everyone, even amid a global pandemic. We are so proud of the fun that everyone had.

Personalizing Their Ceremony With Two Officiants And A Surprise Baby Bump Reveal Down The Aisle

We had two people officiate, one selection for both. I chose my godfather, and Ryan chose his uncle–both pastors. I kept my six-month pregnancy a secret right up until the wedding. I finally turned around during our vows so everyone could see the baby bump. There was a collective gasp in the crowd, which no one will forget!

A Confetti Gender Reveal During The Dover Hall Wedding Reception

I was six months pregnant on our big day. We planned a gender reveal at our reception, and it was unlike anything we could have dreamed. We were able to take the biggest day in our lives and fill it with even more joy. Seeing our friends and families’ reactions as we found out we’d have our baby boy is a memory we will never forget.

Elegantly Boho Arizona Desert Wedding

August 4, 2022 | riley

More often than not, the setting of a wedding creates the atmosphere. And nothing amplifies romance more than a picturesque secluded location, jaw-dropping desert mountain views, and an earthy boho aesthetic. With feathery florals, a soft color palette, and chic wedding fashion, Kyle and Matt’s Arizona desert wedding certainly had the swoon-worthy factor. With the help of their amazing vendor team, the pair pulled off a timeless yet unconventional celebration with their closest and dearest loved ones

With a geometric arch perfectly framing the majestic mountains in the background, the pair said their sweetest “I dos.” The reception on-site featured a charming al fresco dining setting under the stars and string lights complete with a cozy lounge and a chic vintage camper. It was a romantic, intimate Arizona desert wedding with one heck of a view!

If dreamy boho vibes are your thing, then get ready to be blown away. Their special day was brimming with emotional moments and panoramic desert views, all of which Saje Photography captured so beautifully. Scroll down to see what we mean.

Finding The Perfect Officiant Whose Values Perfectly Aligned With Theirs

It was important for us to find a wedding officiant who could speak to our Christian faith while recognizing that the wedding could feel untraditional for a same-sex couple. Although many trailblazers came before us doing the same, it felt like a first for many of the guests.

Personalizing Their Ceremony By Drawing Inspiration From Their Love Story

We leaned heavily into storytelling during the ceremony. Our officiant was incredible–one of the most talented speakers I know. He did an excellent job telling our story from start to finish by highlighting key dates, favorite bible verses, jokes, and, most importantly, our faith.

How The Elegantly Boho Arizona Desert Wedding Came To Be

Our initial wedding was planned to take place in Temecula, CA which was exciting because it celebrated my upbringing in New York surrounded by gorgeous wineries. However, due to COVID, we had to postpone the wedding. During the pandemic, we spent some time in Palm Springs as a ‘get out of the house’ effort and fell in love with the desert. Fast forward to mid-2020, we moved to Scottsdale, AZ. We wanted the wedding to speak for itself using the natural beauty of the desert. I like to call our decor style and set up ‘organic,’ pulling from the best parts of nature in the middle of nowhere.

Advice For Creating An Intimate Guest List

We are so proud of every component, but I believe we are most proud of our intimate guest list. The event was filled with people we genuinely know and love. If someone is not an “absolute yes,” then it’s okay to protect your special day by politely not adding them to your guest list.

Why You Should Find A Photographer That Fits Your Personal Style

I didn’t realize how important our level of comfortability with our photographer was until I spent the day with Samantha and her team. My biggest piece of advice is to find a photographer that fits your style and, of course, has wonderful talent, but also lean into the qualities and characteristics that are most important to you. For us, that was kindness, hard work, grace, and good communication. Saje Photography embodies all that, and we plan to use them for all projects and future life events

Rainy British Columbia Backyard Wedding

August 2, 2022 | justine

Katrina and Christopher’s British Columbia backyard wedding truly embodied the old saying, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.” With the help of their planner Sweetheart Events and a trusted vendor team, the couple braved a pandemic, forest fires, and unpredictable stormy weather to celebrate their love in the most beautiful way possible.

Even with the strong winds and rain, the pair exchanged heartfelt vows surrounded by their closest loved ones on a grassy ledge overlooking the lake at the Quaaout Lodge. A gorgeous teepee-style tented reception followed in their parents’ backyard. Their talented vendors transformed the space with rustic chic furniture, a tablescape of florals in romantic shades of pink, and elegant gold accents. They finished off the celebration on a high note with an all-night dance party under a canopy of string lights.

It was a relaxed yet chic affair as the couple was dressed to the nines for their big day. The groom rocked a beige suit while the bride glowed in an ultra-romantic gown with floral appliques. They Pulled Off A Memorable British Columbia Wedding Despite Challenges With The Help Of Trusted Vendors

After a very long year and a half of restrictions and lockdowns, the most important aspect of our wedding was creating an atmosphere where our guests felt like they could let their hair down and have a true celebration. Our vision came to life with the help of many incredibly talented vendors. There are many moments in the wedding planning process where you agonize over the details and question all your decisions. But if you stay true to your gut and work with an experienced team of professionals, you can trust it will all come together.

Their Wedding Venue Was Meaningful To Them

Chris’s parents purchased a beautiful home on Shuswap Lake six years ago. Since then, Chris and I have made countless trips up there and slowly convinced our friends to spend more and more of their vacation time that way. We have made countless memories on that lake—wake surfing in the sunshine, drinking sangria on the dock, toasting marshmallows around the campfire. And now, one of our best memories will be our stunning tented wedding reception with all our favorite people.

A Beautiful Ceremony Backdrop Handmade By The Groom

Chris made a trip to the lake two weeks before our wedding to harvest some birch wood and build the arbor for our ceremony. As a builder, he absolutely refused to rent one. What he created was stunning, a focal point for our ceremony, and something we will keep forever.

Hiring A Wedding Planner Was The Best Decision

You will never regret hiring an experienced wedding planner. Our wedding planner Stephanie of Sweetheart Events, was forced to contend with a laundry list of challenges to see us down the aisle—pandemic, forest fires, and unexpected rain storms. But she had plans A, B, C, and D for every possible scenario. This took an enormous amount of pressure off us and our families. Although we had a few last-minute pivots on the day, in our guests’ eyes, everything was deliberate, preplanned, and went perfectly smoothly. Even if you are lucky enough not to experience any major obstacles, there’s an overwhelming number of details and tasks to pull off the perfect day. Even if you are a type A personality like me, leave the binder at home and give up control to the professionals.

Photographer Erin Fraser Made Them Feel Relaxed And Confident

Erin was an absolute rock star on the day of our wedding. The conditions were not ideal for photography—wind, rain, and smoke from nearby forest fires—but she made us feel completely at ease regardless. I remember feeling a little worried about the state of my hair and dress in the rain, but at that moment, she was the hype girl I needed. There was never a moment when our bridal party or we felt posed. She is truly a master of candid photos. But most importantly, she took the time to get to know us and what moments were the most important for us to capture.

Their Backyard Reception Was The Most Memorable Part Of Their Celebration

The most memorable and one of the best moments was our grand entrance into our reception. We walked into the backyard overlooking the lake and saw the people we love together in this stunning reception space we had worked so hard to create. It was pure magic! We felt all the pressure and stress leave our bodies, seeing that everything had come together and everyone was enjoying themselves. After two long years of waiting, it was finally party time. The goal was for everyone from our grandparents to friends to walk away with champagne on their shoes and sore legs from all the dancing.

Elegant Italian Castle Wedding

July 29, 2022 | kailey

German castle wedding

Picture this: tying the knot at a historic Italian castle then dancing under the stars with a glass atrium reception. Sounds like a fairytale doesn’t it? With the right vendors on your side, this fairytale could become a royal reality. And for Christine and Christoph hunting down their dream vendors—like planner Svenja Fischer—was top priority while planning their destination wedding.

This couple wanted their wedding venue to be the main event and Schloss Freudenstein didn’t fall short. From the existing historic architecture to the modern glass enclosed reception addition, this venue was the best of both worlds. Neutral florals by Evelina Florence Flowers added elegance and allowed for the venue’s existing features to shine.

Keep scrolling for all the details captured by Junebug photographer and videographer Wedding and Waves that’ll have you dreaming of a faraway celebration of your own.

Enjoying The Planning Process

Planning our wedding was a very special time we both enjoyed to the fullest. As destination weddings are not already challenging enough our planning got impacted by Covid. However, we were lucky enough to work with an amazing wedding planner and two creative wedding designers. That’s why we prioritized vendors when creating our budget.

Memorable First Look At This Italian Castle Wedding

The most memorable moment for both of us was the first look. When the chapel’s bells started to ring Christine set out on her way accomplished by her father. While walking through the castle and courtyard was already very special for her, the entrance into the chapel and walking down the aisle was just a wow for both us and a moment we will never forget.

The Importance Of Hiring A Trusted Photographer

Working with Wedding and Waves was an amazing experience. As we have been able to already book them for our civil wedding a view days before the church wedding it felt like a very trusted and familiar atmosphere on the day of. This made it possible that the couple shooting turned out to be one of the most special and intimate moments for us. We really enjoyed having a view minutes just for the two of us and almost didn’t realize them being around and taking photos. Overall they perfectly blended into our wedding party and therefore have been able to capture the most special moments of our most important day in life.

The 70 Best Wedding Recessional Songs

July 27, 2022 | kailey

Choosing wedding songs is easily one of the most fun parts of planning your big day, but arguably one of the most challenging. Do you choose songs you listened to a lot when you first started dating? Songs that make you think of your partner or that tell your love story? What about the love songs you’ve always imagined accompanying your wedding day? Which ones should you use as your recessional songs?

If these questions have your head spinning take a deep breath, we’re here to walk you through it. First and foremost, recessional songs are the songs that play when you’ve finished your vows and you’re walking back down the aisle as a married couple. They should feel exciting, triumphant, and—importantly—should have guests feeling ready to join the reception. With that in mind, we’ve got a list of 70 ideas from genres spanning classic, modern, and unconventional to help you choose!

What Is A Recessional Song?

The recessional starts after you’ve read your handwritten vows, rings have been exchanged, and your officiant has declared you married. When the DJ hits play on your recessional song, it means it’s time for your grand ceremony exit.
