An Elegant New Year’s Eve Wedding at a Grand New Jersey Equestrian Estate

April 3, 2025 | justine

This elegant New Year’s Eve wedding blends timeless style with personal touches and high-energy entertainment.

Some love stories feel written in the stars—this one was written on an ID card. When Alanah and Michael first met in a college bar, they realized they shared the exact same birthday, down to the year. “We joked around wondering who was born earlier,” Alanah recalls. “Turns out, I actually beat him by five hours! At that moment, I felt as if it was fate, and it was a sign from above that we were meant to meet and be together.”

Fast forward to their wedding day, and fate led them to an elegant New Year’s Eve wedding at the Ryland Inn, an equestrian estate with grand chandeliers, rustic charm, and a ballroom fit for an unforgettable celebration. The night was filled with romance, elegance, and a midnight countdown that turned their big day into the ultimate NYE party.

What We Love About This Elegant New Year’s Eve Wedding:

  • The black-tie dress code, which made the night feel even more dramatic and romantic
  • The two wedding dresses, including a sparkly Marquise Bridal gown that was perfect for NYE
  • A private first look, allowing the couple to savor the moment together
  • Espresso martini ice luge, adding a unique and fun twist to the reception
  • An energetic band that kept the party going until 1:30 AM
  • The bride’s hands-on approach, meticulously planning every detail to create a celebration that reflected her vision

Finding the Perfect Venue to Match their Elegant New Year’s Eve Wedding Vision

When the couple first visited the Ryland Inn, they instantly knew it was the one. “When I first went to look at the venue, I was in awe of the traditional white and black property surrounded by spacious land, bordered with a white fence,” Alanah shares. “The Grand Ballroom was just what I was looking for, with beautiful French doors, natural wood, and windows that made the space feel open and romantic.”

To enhance the space, From Peonies to Paintchips, transformed the room with lush floral arrangements, candlelit ambiance, and an incredible floral arch surrounding the fireplace. “There wasn’t one place you could look where you would find a bare spot.”

Wedding Planning Without a Planner—How She Pulled It Off

Alanah took charge of the planning process, starting with inspiration from social media. “I followed accounts that gave me ideas of what I wanted. With each picture I screenshotted, I began an album on my phone labeled ‘Wedding Planning.’ Soon, a bunch of screenshots became a vision board, and I was able to piece it all together.”

She also leaned on family experience, working with some of the same vendors her sister used for her 2019 wedding. “I saw how picture-perfect my sister’s wedding was and thought to myself, “I hope my wedding day looks just like hers.’”

A First Look to Remember

One of the most intimate moments of the day was the couple’s first look. “It was just me and him, and we could enjoy our company together without any spectators,” Alanah shares. “The forest green trees in the background, me waiting for him to turn around to see his expression… he was so happy, and in that moment, I felt butterflies all over again, as if it was the first time I met him.”

Personal Touches That Made Their Elegant New Year’s Eve Wedding Ceremony Extra Special

For Alanah, walking down the aisle with both her mom and dad wasn’t just a choice—it was a must. “Both my mom and dad played a crucial part in who I am today. I wanted them both to get the recognition they deserve.” This heartfelt decision set the tone for a ceremony filled with meaningful moments.

Another deeply personal touch was the couple’s decision to write their own vows. The couple wanted their promises to each other to be raw and authentic, a true reflection of their love. “I was shaking and crying as I read them, but I received so many compliments afterward about how touching they were and how they filled the room with love.”

After the ceremony, Alanah shared an intimate moment with her bridesmaids, mom, and mother-in-law in a private room upstairs. Each of them took turns sharing one thing they loved about her and Michael. “While it was a little moment, it was so special. Hearing my favorite people express what makes us special as a couple and how we’ve impacted their lives was the ultimate confidence booster—something every bride deserves on her wedding day.”

A High-Energy New Year’s Eve Bash with Martinis and Live Entertainment

No New Year’s Eve wedding is complete without a high-energy celebration, and Alanah and Michael made sure their guests experienced an unforgettable night. With The Clara Jordan Band from Hank Lane setting the tone, the dance floor stayed packed, and guests were decked out in festive NYE glasses and hats personalized with the couple’s names and wedding date.

“When the clock was just about to strike 12, they began to sing ‘I Gotta Feeling’ and do a countdown. When the clock hit midnight, I remember looking around the room, seeing so many people who had watched us grow up, and taking a mental snapshot of that moment. There are not many times where your closest friends and family are together in one room bringing in the new year surrounded by so much love.”

To elevate the celebration even further, the couple added a unique, personal touch—a custom espresso martini ice luge. “We thought it would be the perfect addition for an elegant New Year’s Eve wedding since we planned to party all night,” Alanah shares. Engraved with their initials, the ice luge added a fun and luxurious element to the reception, keeping guests entertained and the energy high well past midnight.

Budgeting for What Matters Most

One of the biggest challenges in wedding planning is budgeting, and Alanah and Michael approached it strategically. “We decided to allocate our funds in the areas we thought were most important for the day. This included the venue, food and top-shelf liquor, the florist, and the photographer, and videographer.”

With a two-year engagement, they had time to plan and save. Alanah even created a spreadsheet to track expenses, ensuring they could have the dream celebration without unnecessary stress.

Alanah’s heartfelt advice: “Remember your reason WHY. Social media makes it easy to compare. But at the end of the day, this is about you and your person. Celebrate your love in the way that feels most authentic to you.

A Dreamy Three-Day Wedding Celebration Comes to Life at this Picturesque Bali Wedding Venue

April 1, 2025 | justine

This multi-day celebration at this stunning Bali wedding venue featured ocean views, chili and lemon centerpieces, and a surprise dance party.

When Jason first spotted Patricia on a mutual friend’s Instagram, he knew he had to meet her—it was love at first scroll. With a little help from fate (and their friend), they finally connected in Taipei during COVID, quickly bonding over oldies music, whiskey, and a shared passion for travel. The rest, as they say, is history.

When it came time to plan their wedding, they had one priority: creating an intimate, backyard-style celebration filled with warmth, personal touches, and the people they love most. Their vision led them to Khayangan Estate, a breathtaking Bali wedding venue that offered both privacy and the rare opportunity to stay on-site with their families for three unforgettable nights.

“Having lived in Bali, I completely fell in love with the island—especially the Bukit Peninsula, with its stunning cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean,” Patricia shared. “So when it came to choosing a wedding location, I knew we had to say ‘I do’ with one of my favorite views as our backdrop.”

What We Love About This Wedding

The Wedding Mood

Kicking Off the Celebration with Drinks, Games, and an Unexpected Dance Party

Patricia and Jason prioritized what mattered most: bringing their favorite people together in a relaxing, beautiful space filled with delicious food, drinks, and unforgettable moments. With the help of Junebug vendors The Wedding Mood they created a celebration that felt both meaningful and fun.

“Henny and Jasmin from The Wedding Mood were incredible. They guided us every step of the way, making sure we felt at ease and helping us bring our vision to life.”

Their wedding weekend kicked off with a welcome party for guests traveling from near and far. With an open bar, curated bites, and a personally-crafted playlist, the couple set the tone for a lively celebration. “We even put together a get-to-know-each-other Bingo game, just in case anyone needed an icebreaker. Turns out, we completely underestimated our crowd. The moment our friends and family arrived, they dove straight into chatting and clinking glasses. And before we knew it, the night had turned into a full-blown dance party!”

Choosing Wedding Attire That Balanced Style, Sentiment, and Comfort

Jason went all out with a custom tux from Tailor’s Keep in San Francisco, handpicking every detail from the fabric to the buttons. Just days before the wedding, Patricia surprised him with Hermes cufflinks—an elegant finishing touch. He completed his look with sleek Louboutins, embodying effortless sophistication.

For Patricia, timeless elegance was key. She started her morning wrapped in a La Perla silk robe, sipping champagne with her sister and best friend. Her wedding gown, a sleek BoLee wedding dress, was everything she had envisioned. She infused sentimentality into her look with jewelry designed by her aunt, featuring pearls that once belonged to her grandmother. A dramatic royal-length veil added the perfect touch of romance. Later in the evening, she changed into a chic halter-neck dress with a statement bow and traded her heels for Louboutin flats—ready to dance the night away in style.

Enhancing Their Stunning Bali Wedding Venue Without Overwhelming It

With the breathtaking Khayangan Estate as their backdrop, Jason and Patricia knew they didn’t need an elaborate setup to make an impact. Instead of a traditional arch, their florist, Ling from Dada Island, designed a cascading masterpiece of lush greenery, with bold pops of yellow and orange. “With a view that stunning, why block it?” the couple shared. The result was a ceremony space that felt organic yet striking—seamlessly blending with the natural beauty around them.

Looking back, they struggled to choose just one standout moment because every second felt unforgettable. “Having our friend Henry officiate, hearing each other’s vows, and being surrounded by all our favorite people—it was pure magic,” they recalled. To complement the romantic atmosphere, they enlisted a string quartet to play classic tunes, adding an elegant and timeless touch to their heartfelt celebration.

How They Created a Reception Full of Meaningful Touches

After the ceremony, guests were welcomed onto a sprawling lawn where cocktails flowed freely, and a vintage phone from Phone a Friend Bali invited loved ones to leave heartfelt audio messages. The reception space was a stunning visual experience, featuring artistic, sculptural floral arrangements that incorporated unexpected elements like fruits, shells, and wild blooms. Unique touches—including a whimsical lemon man and chili arrangements—added a playful, creative touch.

The night continued with an intimate dinner and handcrafted cocktails by Palms Bali—one of the couple’s favorite bartenders. “We actually did a tasting on a previous trip to Bali. The moment we sipped their drinks, we knew they had to be at our wedding.”

Their love for whiskey also made a special appearance. “We brought in one of our favorite go-to whiskeys—Bowmore 12—to share with our guests, along with Party Smart gummies, the perfect antidote for a night of celebrating!”

As the night unfolded, speeches from family and friends stole the show. “There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The speeches were heartfelt, hilarious, and filled with so much love.”

A Piece of Advice from the Couple

“If we could do it all over again, we’d have a proper after-party! The night went by too fast, and we wish the whole day could have lasted forever. Our best advice? Stay present and soak up every moment—it truly is the best day of your life.”

Eight Guests, One Saxophonist, and the Mediterranean Sea: Inside an Intimate and Nontraditional Greece Elopement

March 27, 2025 | justine

Planning a wedding is never easy, but for Adam and Tosha, making their dream of a Greece elopement a reality was worth every challenge. With just eight guests, a soulful saxophonist, and the breathtaking Mediterranean Sea as their backdrop, they crafted a celebration that was deeply personal, stylish, and unforgettable.

Adam and Tosha’s love story began in 2016 when they connected on OkCupid while attending Washington State University. Their first date at Airway Hills Golf Course lasted three hours, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. “Adam’s kind heart won me over, and my energy reinvigorated him,” Tosha recalls. They spent every day together that summer, sharing coffee breaks and late-night sweets, building a foundation that would lead them to their ultimate adventure: a wedding halfway across the world.

What We Love About This Greece Elopement:

Booking a Venue Sight Unseen and Choosing the Right Vendors

Their dream was clear—a wedding that felt intimate, effortless, and organic, set against Santorini’s stunning cliffside. “We wanted our wedding to feel fun, intimate, and heartfelt, set against the breathtaking backdrop of a garden on a cliffside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.”

To create this seamless experience, they combined the best of both worlds—bringing trusted vendors from Washington State while also supporting local Santorini businesses. “Being in the industry, I already knew a few vendors I needed to bring with me. For the others, we wanted to support island life and give back to their industry as well.”

Their approach to planning was meticulous yet flexible. They researched venues extensively, narrowed down their options, and finally selected the perfect location—without ever seeing it in person. “We committed to our venue sight unseen, which was surreal when we finally arrived,” Tosha says.

A Celebration Inspired by Greece’s Beauty and Spirit

The wedding design was inspired by the natural beauty of Santorini. “We took inspiration from the local plants, food, and infrastructure, as well as the spirit of Greek life,” Tosha explains. They ensured their guests’ comfort with parasols and fans, and selected seating that blended seamlessly with the scenery.

Their intimate ceremony was perfectly complemented by a unique musical choice—a saxophonist instead of a DJ, creating a soulful, romantic atmosphere. And to kick off the celebration, they hosted their rehearsal dinner on a 50-foot sailing yacht. “It felt like a movie—sailing on the sea, jumping into warm water, eating the best dinner while watching the sunset, and listening to the Mamma Mia! soundtrack. I tear up just thinking about it.”

Greece Elopement Style

Every detail of their Greece elopement was a reflection of their personalities and priorities. Tosha’s gown was a shimmering masterpiece—three layers of tulle that sparkled with every movement, weighing an impressive nine pounds. Adam embraced effortless style, pairing a tan suit with dark brown suede shoes and custom dog cufflinks, a heartfelt nod to their beloved pets back home.

For her signature bridal look, Tosha chose Chanel’s #48, a soft rose lipstick, and Gucci Bloom Acqua di Fiori as her wedding day fragrance. Adam, true to his nature-loving spirit, kept his hair down and skipped neckwear, embodying a relaxed, organic style that felt perfectly him.

A Serendipitous Ceremony Twist

Their wedding day began with a peaceful first look at Nimbus Santorini, a boutique hotel in Oia that set the perfect tone for the intimate celebration ahead. The cliffside ceremony space, designed for just eight guests, felt both cozy and breathtaking—exactly what they had envisioned.

“We just loved being able to commit our handwritten vows to one another at a venue we picked without seeing it in person. We worked so hard to stay true to what we wanted, and standing there together made it all feel so surreal.”

No wedding is complete without an unexpected twist. In a rush to the venue, Tosha forgot her bouquet at the hotel. While the staff rushed to deliver it, their officiant—who had another wedding scheduled—had to leave. “Luckily, our lead bartender stepped up to officiate,” Tosha laughs. “His first language is Greek, so there were some funny moments reading the script in English, but honestly, it felt more heartfelt and personal than the original officiant would have.”

It was an unplanned but perfect moment—one that made their ceremony even more unforgettable.

A Greece Elopement Reception Under Arches and Starlight

After exchanging vows, they explored the charming town of Oia, capturing stunning photos, sipping champagne, and sharing their first dance before cutting their cake. “We took dance classes for a year, and it paid off—it made for such a memorable moment that gave everyone something to talk about during dinner.” As cold sparklers lit up the cliffside, the moment felt straight out of a dream.

Their reception took place beneath elegant arches that perfectly reflected their style, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere. Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated three-course dinner featuring authentic local dishes, setting the stage for a magical evening.

Later that night, after the last toast had been made and the final song had played, they stripped off their wedding attire and jumped into their private pool together—an intimate, carefree ending to a day they’d never forget.

Advice for Future Couples

For couples dreaming of a Greece elopement, Tosha shares one key piece of advice: “Give yourself plenty of time to plan an international wedding. Trying to rush it only leads to stress.”

For Adam and Tosha, their wedding wasn’t just about the ceremony—it was about crafting an entire experience that felt authentic, joyful, and uniquely theirs. And with Santorini’s cliffs, the Mediterranean breeze, and their closest loved ones by their side, they created a love story that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Bridgerton Elegance Meets Coastal New England Charm at This White Elephant Nantucket Wedding

March 25, 2025 | justine

Gabriella and Eric’s love story began in 2018 when they met at a bar and talked all night. Life took them in different directions, and they lost touch, but fate had other plans. A year later, they reconnected at a graduation party for a mutual friend. “We didn’t remember how we’d met before, but the connection was immediate,” Gabriella shared. As they got to know each other, they realized they had unknowingly crossed paths many times before. “It was like the universe had been quietly nudging us together all along.”

Their White Elephant Nantucket wedding was a vibrant, floral-filled affair that perfectly blended the elegant aesthetic of Bridgerton with the laid-back charm of coastal New England. Gabriella, who planned the wedding herself while studying for the bar exam, infused every detail with personal touches. From the invitations to a weekend-long celebration, every moment reflected the couple’s love story and style.

What We Love About This White Elephant Nantucket Wedding:

  • Gabriella planned every detail of the wedding herself while studying for the bar exam
  • Choosing a private first look and personal vows gave the couple more time to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests
  • The festivities spanned four unforgettable days, featuring gourmet meals, lively parties, and coastal charm
  • A live artist captured guests in beautiful sketches and watercolor paintings, creating unique, one-of-a-kind mementos

A Bridesmaids Brunch, Tapas-Style Rehearsal, and Nautical Welcome Party Kicked Off Their White Elephant Nantucket Wedding Weekend

The wedding festivities began long before the ceremony. Gabriella hosted a brunch for her bridesmaids as a heartfelt thank-you for their support. “It was a really fun way to enjoy each other’s company before the wedding,” she said.

On Thursday, the couple held an intimate rehearsal dinner at The Proprietors, a tapas-style restaurant in Nantucket. The evening featured vibrant farmers’ market florals, delicious food, and cocktails with their closest friends and family. The next night, they welcomed all their guests at the famous Cru Oyster Bar, setting the tone for the celebration ahead. “It was fantastic to be surrounded by everyone we love.” The night ended with spontaneous bar hopping in downtown Nantucket, adding to the weekend’s fun atmosphere.

A Wardrobe Fit for a Wedding Weekend: Custom Suits, Dream Dresses, and Statement Shoes

With a four-day wedding weekend came multiple outfit changes. Gabriella had so many ensembles that she and her mother had to bring a second car onto the island just for her wardrobe!

“I knew I wanted my dress to be unique. I didn’t want a plain white dress, but I also didn’t want anything too colorful,” she explained. She found her dream gown at Lelite Bridal in Boston, a stunning piece adorned with handmade florals. To complement it, she wore custom-made shoes from Bella Bridal Shoes, intricately designed with beaded fabric butterflies.

Eric, who is 6’5”, struggles with off-the-rack suits, so he opted for custom attire. “Because of the garden party aesthetic and bright colors, he wore a navy suit to the rehearsal, a tan suit to the welcome party, and a blue and black tuxedo to the wedding,” Gabriella said. All his looks were tailor-made in Boston.

The bridesmaids embraced a mismatched lilac theme, selecting dresses they felt beautiful in, while the groomsmen sported classic black tuxedos, allowing Eric’s bold blue tux to stand out.

A First Look, Private Vows, and More Time for Cocktails

Gabriella and Eric decided on a first look to maximize their time with guests. “We’re big foodies, so when we heard that doing a first look meant we’d have more time to enjoy our cocktail hour, we were sold!” she laughed. The moment was emotional, and private vows made it even more intimate. “I was worried it would take away from the aisle moment, but it absolutely didn’t. If anything, it added to the anticipation and excitement.”

Gabriella also shared a first look with her father, a moment she cherished deeply. “He made the entire wedding happen and never asked me to contribute anything. Having a quiet moment with him away from the chaos was incredibly special.”

A Private Church Ceremony and a Childhood Dream Wedding Come True

Before their wedding, Gabriella and Eric had a small church ceremony near their hometown with just immediate family. They followed it with a big Italian dinner at her parents’ house.

The White Elephant Nantucket had always held a special place in Gabriella’s heart. “I had been visiting for years and distinctly remember eating there with my father. He once told me he hoped I’d get married there one day.”

With their love for the beach and many guests flying in regardless, a destination wedding on the island was the perfect choice. The stunning natural beauty of Nantucket, especially the White Elephant, made for an unforgettable setting.

Handcrafted Invitations, Live Art, and a Feast to Remember at Their White Elephant Nantucket Wedding

Every detail of the wedding was thoughtfully designed, including their invitations and save-the-dates. “We worked with a fantastic artist who collaborated with us every step of the way,” Gabriella said. The final designs included custom illustrations of their favorite island spots.

To incorporate her love of art into the wedding day, Gabriella hired an artist to create live sketches of guests, giving them a one-of-a-kind watercolor keepsake. Another artist painted on oyster shells, which doubled as table decor.

The couple put equal effort into curating the menu. “We love to eat, so making sure we had an amazing dinner was really important to us.” They opted for a large head table instead of a sweetheart table. “Some of my favorite moments were sitting there, surrounded by our best friends,” Gabriella shared.

Their celebration drew loved ones from around the world, with guests traveling from 12 states, as well as Australia and Italy. The party lasted well past midnight, thanks to the incredible Boston Common Band. “We were supposed to leave by 12, but we kept dancing until 1:30 a.m.!”

The festivities wrapped up with a Sunday brunch, a final opportunity to spend time with guests before they headed home. “It was such a beautiful way to end the weekend.”

Finding the Perfect Vendors,  Balancing Budget, and Embracing Wedding Day Surprises with Grace

Planning their White Elephant Nantucket wedding came with its challenges, including hidden import fees and island costs. “I knew I wanted to focus the budget on the venue and florals. Once that was set, everything else fell into place,” Gabriella explained.

She found most of her vendors through Instagram and Zola, choosing those whose work resonated with her. “I spent so much time looking through portfolios to find people who could make our dream day come to life.”

The morning of the wedding, unexpected guests meant there weren’t enough of the gold chairs Gabriella had rented to match the tablescape. “My vendor swapped them out on the spot, and now I can’t imagine the wedding without them. Everything worked out as it was supposed to.”

Her biggest piece of advice? “I had so much anxiety the morning of my wedding. I wish I had trusted that everything would be perfect and just enjoyed the moment. Eventually, the stress faded, and we had the most incredible day.”

This Sentimental Destination Wedding in Canada’s Pemberton Valley is Nothing Short of a Nature Lover’s Dream

This destination wedding in Canada was inspired by a love for travel and the beauty of nature.

Jessica and Lewis’ love story reads like a travel romance novel. “Back in 2015, our shared love of adventure, travel, and exploring new places led two solo backpackers to cross paths on the other side of the world.” Their five-week whirlwind romance in New Zealand—filled with stargazing, glow worm caves, and maybe a little too much tequila—set the stage for a lifetime of love and adventure.

Despite years of long-distance between England, Canada, and Australia, nothing—not even a global pandemic—could keep them apart. “We spent 10 full months on different continents during lockdowns, but we made it through,” Jessica said. “Needless to say, those five weeks in New Zealand have turned into forever.”

Jessica had been gathering inspiration from Junebug Weddings long before she and Lewis were even engaged, envisioning a day that felt like an extension of their love for adventure. When the time finally came to plan their wedding, those years of ideas came together beautifully.

“Spending time in nature is something Lewis and I absolutely love, so we wanted our wedding to reflect that. ” Set against a breathtaking mountain backdrop, their celebration at North Arm Farm felt like a whimsical garden party, with wildflowers everywhere and the beauty of nature taking center stage.

A Thoughtfully Planned Destination Wedding in Canada with a Week of Adventure

Opting for a three-year engagement, the couple took their time planning, making thoughtful choices without stress or rushed decisions. “It meant we could spend the first year just gathering ideas, and by the time vendors opened bookings for summer 2024, we already knew exactly who we wanted.”

Since nearly all their guests traveled from out of town, the couple made the wedding week just as special as the big day itself. “We planned outings so guests could experience the beauty of British Columbia—group hikes, welcome drinks at The Beer Farmers, and poolside hangouts at Pemberton Valley Lodge. By the time the wedding rolled around, everyone had already bonded, which made the day even more fun!”

Planning a destination wedding in Canada from England with an eight-hour time difference wasn’t easy, so they made the smart decision to hire a full-service wedding planner. “Cailey and Alex at Blue Violet Events were an absolute dream. They went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. Honestly, we went through a bit of withdrawal from them after the wedding!”

What We Love About This Destination Wedding in Canada:

  • Their three-year engagement, which gave them time to plan their dream wedding without stress or compromises
  • Thoughtful pre-wedding outings that brought guests together and made the celebration even more special
  • Their stunning ceremony location—those willow trees created pure magic!
  • The beautifully captured portraits by Junebug vendor Nomad by NK

JB Tip: Take your time with portraits to ensure you get the shots you’ll treasure forever.

A Dream Dress, a No-Fuss Suit, and a Bridesmaid Challenge Worth the Effort

Jessica had her heart set on the MWL Huxley wedding dress long before she even tried it on. “I obsessed over it for months, and when I finally put it on, I knew it was the one,” she said. Lewis, on the other hand, took a much simpler approach. “He walked into Jack Davison Bespoke, picked a suit color from a book of swatches, and that was it. It was tailor-made and absolutely perfect for him.”

The bridesmaid dresses, however, were a different story. “Trying to coordinate mismatched floral dresses for seven women across four cities and two continents was easily the hardest part of planning. But it was so worth it in the end!”

A Love Story Meant for the Mountains, a Sentimental Tribute, and a Champagne-Soaked Surprise

The couple exchanged vows beneath the sweeping willow trees at North Arm Farm—a venue they had fallen in love with years before they were even engaged. “One of my friend’s sisters attended a wedding there, and when I saw it on her Instagram story, I knew it was perfect for us. The mountains, the open air, the effortless beauty—it just screamed ‘us.’ I sent a screenshot to Lewis, and he instantly replied, ‘We are 100% getting married there!’”

Two years later, when they got engaged, Lewis didn’t hesitate when Jessica asked where they should get married. “He said, ‘What do you mean? We’ve already found the perfect place.’ When we finally visited in person, our jaws dropped. It was even more beautiful than we imagined. It was also the perfect setting to showcase Canada’s staggering beauty—not just for our friends and family traveling from England, but also for my loved ones from Winnipeg who had never been to rural BC. Even now, when we look back at the photos, we have to pinch ourselves. We can’t believe we got married in such a stunning place.”

Instead of a first look, the couple saw each other for the first time at the altar. “The moment I saw Lewis, everything else melted away. We were both overcome with pure joy, love, and excitement,” Jessica recalled.

They also found a heartfelt way to honor Lewis’ late mother. “I surprised Lewis with a white feather in his boutonniere and in my bouquet—something only he and I would understand the significance of. We also melted down one of her rings and split the gold between our wedding bands, adding a diamond from her ring into each. It was our way of keeping her close to us.”

Of course, no wedding is complete without an unforgettable moment of chaos. “Right after the ceremony, before we even took photos with each other or our guests, Lewis and I lined up with our wedding party for a champagne spray photo. Unfortunately, Lewis popped his bottle at the most perfectly imperfect height, and champagne shot me straight in the face, drenching half my hair! The photo was totally worth it, though, and now I have something to tease him about forever!”

A Destination Wedding in Canada with Scottish Traditions, DIY Touches, and a Tequila-Fueled Love Story

The reception was a joyful celebration filled with heartfelt toasts, laughter, and meaningful personal touches. One of the most memorable moments came when their MC—and Lewis’ brother-in-law—surprised them with a traditional Scottish toast. He raised a dram of whiskey mixed with water he had secretly gathered from their pre-wedding hike. “It was such a beautiful, personal moment—one we’ll always remember.”

The couple’s friends and family played a big role in making their day extra special:

  • Jessica’s best friends from nursing school—her only local friends in BC—DIY’d their stunning seating chart. “Brittany picked up, shortened, and even engraved the wooden ladder, while Leanna and Bri saved their wine bottles and added seating chart stickers.”
  • Since they both love nature, their wedding favors were hand-pressed local flowers placed in mini metal frames, allowing guests to take a little piece of the day home with them.
  • As a nod to their love story, they brought over Tequila Rose shots from England for everyone to enjoy during the reception. “Lewis and I met backpacking in New Zealand, and our drink of choice back then was tequila. It felt like the perfect little tribute to that chapter of our story,” Jessica explained.

One of the absolute highlights of the night was their grand entrance. “Our MC did an incredible job getting everyone fired up, and our guests truly gave it their all! People were standing on chairs, waving napkins, singing, and dancing along. It was the biggest adrenaline rush—we could feel the love, excitement, and happiness radiating from every single person. It meant so much to us.”

Embracing the Moment: A Stress-Free Destination Wedding in Canada

Despite the inevitable little hiccups that come with any wedding, they remained completely unbothered. “Honestly, we were on such a high that nothing fazed us whatsoever. We had an amazing team of vendors who handled everything like absolute pros. If anything didn’t go exactly to plan, we didn’t even notice—we were just so happy and excited to be married and celebrating with our loved ones. Nothing else mattered.”

Looking back on their wedding, Jessica and Lewis have one key piece of advice for engaged couples: don’t be afraid to take time for your portraits. “We made sure to carve out plenty of time just for the two of us, and we are SO glad we did. Those moments allowed us to pause, soak in the day, and simply be together—it was truly special.”

As for their three-year engagement? They wouldn’t change a thing. “It was the best decision we made. The first year was all about exploring vendors’ work on social media and refining our vision—completely stress-free. By the time year two rolled around, we knew exactly what we wanted and were able to book our dream team the moment their summer 2024 calendars opened. Because of that, we had an incredible lineup that truly brought our wedding to life. Taking our time made all the difference, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

A Deeply Intentional and Unique Vow Renewal Transported Guests into a Portal of Artistry, Spirituality, and Community

March 13, 2025 | justine

When Eve and Chris met on a dating app in 2014, they were skeptical about online dating. But from the moment they connected, something felt different. “Chris sent me a unique, standout message among a sea of insincere and off-putting ones,” Eve shared. “Within minutes of meeting, I knew Chris was my person. Meeting him was a homecoming.” Over the years, their love deepened, growing through shared experiences. When it came time to celebrate their union, they wanted something equally intentional and meaningful—a unique vow renewal that truly reflected their journey.

Set in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Eve and Chris’ unique vow renewal was more than a ceremony—it was an immersive experience where artistry, spirituality, and community intertwined. “We wanted it to be unique and deeply intentional in all ways, including aesthetics. The whole process was a creative one meant to articulate our artistic sensibilities,” Eve shared. Drawing from wisdom-based traditions and rituals, they envisioned a mystical, romantic garden where time felt suspended. Every element carried meaning, from the custom altar to mirrored tables reflecting guests back to themselves—symbolizing connection and presence.

Their community played a vital role in their journey. “We were asking them to cross a threshold with us into the rest of our lives. To build the life we dream of, we need the support of our loved ones.” Choosing San Miguel de Allende reinforced this intention, offering a setting where guests could step outside their daily lives and into a shared experience. Leading up to the celebration, Eve and Chris made multiple visits, carefully selecting vendors and immersing themselves in the city’s vibrant energy.

What We Love About This Unique Vow Renewal:

  • The dedication to finding a planner, Junebug vendor Santo Amor, who truly understood the couple’s nontraditional vision
  • The gift of pre-recorded, personalized messages to each guest, sharing what the couple loves most about them
  • A pre-ceremony experience that included yoga, a sound bath, and a traditional Mexican ceremony guided by a local shaman
  • A Celtic hand-binding ceremony where all guests were connected, symbolizing the vital role their support plays in Eve and Chris’ marriage
  • Musical contributions from their sisters and father, as well as a dance performance by their best friend to open the cardinal directions

Infusing Tradition and Intention into Every Moment of Their Unique Vow Renewal

“For years, we reflected on why we wanted a wedding and its deeper purpose. We believe in the power of ceremonies and rituals and wanted our celebration to feel uniquely us. It was important that our guests felt like participants, not spectators.

This intention shaped every detail, starting with pre-ceremony activities designed for deep connection—yoga, a sound bath, and a traditional Mexican ceremony led by a local shaman. We cleared our energy with copal, burned tobacco in the fire to set intentions, sang, and shed joyful tears. Many shared that it was one of the most meaningful moments of the entire week.”

A Fashion-Forward Look with Sentimental Meaning

As someone with a background in fashion, Eve had always imagined wearing something nontraditional. But when she tried on a Vivienne Westwood gown, she knew it was the one. “It captured a timelessness and romanticism that felt authentic to both me and Chris’ aesthetic. Vivienne Westwood had just passed away, and her mission and vision as a designer, person, and activist really resonated with me. It all felt kismet.” Chris’ custom suit was intentionally designed to complement both Eve’s dress and the romantic garden venue.

A Unique Vow Renewal Infused with Meaningful Traditions

The couple worked closely with their vendors to create a setting that felt transformative. “We custom-created elements like the aisle and dance floor, incorporating symbols that held personal significance—snakes, jaguars, and hummingbirds—each with spiritual meaning. We also integrated traditional Mexican symbols to honor the culture and celebration space.Every element of their unique vow renewal was designed to make guests feel like participants rather than spectators. They were greeted with handwritten and pre-recorded messages from the couple, sharing what they loved most about each person.

During the ceremony itself, loved ones played a vital role. Chris and Eve’s sisters and father sang, while their best friend performed a dance to open the cardinal directions, inviting the elements—air, water, earth, fire, spirit—to bear witness. In a particularly moving moment, instead of a traditional Celtic hand-binding just for the couple, every guest held onto the rope, symbolizing the role their support plays in the couple’s marriage. Their closest friends also shared vignettes about their relationship. “Each of them spoke about a distinct aspect of our partnership—offering everyone a more intimate window into our love and life.”

Embracing the Unexpected: A Rainy Twist in San Miguel de Allende

Despite San Miguel de Allende’s typically dry climate, rain made an unexpected appearance, forcing a last-minute venue layout change. “It completely shifted the setup of our decor and dinner. But in the end, these shifts didn’t matter—only we knew what had changed from our original concept. I felt for our planner, with the stress it put on her, but she handled it beautifully. I was lucky to trust her to make the best decisions at the moment.”

A Unique Vow Renewal Celebrating Community, Connection, and Dance

The reception carried this spirit of community and celebration forward, infused with the same mystical energy. A personalized tarot seating chart added a unique touch. “I personally pulled tarot cards for each guest, selecting one that reflected their soul’s purpose based on their birthday. It was a way for them to connect inward through reflection while also sharing the experience with others.”

“We served food family-style to encourage conversation and make it feel like a true dinner among family.” They also worked with their DJ to curate a playlist that felt true to them while avoiding overplayed songs. “The dance floor was packed all night! We danced until the very end—when we left, our guests left with us because they stayed until the last song.”

Eve also shared a mother-daughter dance in addition to a first dance with Chris. “My mom has always loved to dance—she passed that love on to me. So when we were discussing the dances, she spoke up and said that’s how she wanted to celebrate. It was such a fun moment and a huge hit!”

For the reception, Eve changed into a 1920s-inspired flapper dress, embracing the glamour and freedom of the era. “For my dancing look, I wanted to be extremely comfortable first and foremost, and then playful and fun. I have always loved 1920s flapper style and art deco. The freedom and glamour of flappers felt right, so it was a natural fit to pull this in for the party part of the evening.”

The couple’s dedication to finding vendors who truly understood their vision was evident in every detail. Their planner, Junebug vendor Santo Amor, played a key role in bringing their nontraditional ideas to life. “Rox immediately understood and connected to our vision. She resonated with our esoteric ideas, and from there, we trusted her guidance.”

Final words of advice from the couple: “Be true to yourself and use your intuition. Work with people you can trust and communicate openly with—if something doesn’t feel right at first, it likely won’t later. You won’t regret taking the extra time to incorporate deeper meaning into your celebration. Those details will be felt and remembered long after the day is over. Lastly, let go—especially on the day itself. By that time, you’ve done everything you can. Now it’s time to be fully in the moment and enjoy every second.”

Pastel Elegance: An Italian Renaissance Estate Sets the Scene for a Majestic Miami Wedding

March 11, 2025 | justine

From the moment guests arrived at Kacie and Craig’s majestic Miami wedding, it was clear they were about to witness something truly magical. Set against the backdrop of an Italian Renaissance estate, their special day was a perfect blend of romance, elegance, and garden-inspired charm. Every detail, from the soft pastel florals to the intricate architecture, contributed to an unforgettable celebration that felt straight out of a European dream.

The couple’s vision came to life thanks to their talented team of pros, who transformed the venue into a breathtaking oasis. Captured beautifully by Junebug vendor  Madeline Paige Photography, every image showcases the romance and grandeur of their special day.

What we love about this wedding:

  • The breathtaking Italian Renaissance estate venue
  • The dreamy pastel color palette
  • The whimsical, nature-meets-luxury atmosphere

Kacie and Craig shared their first look by the property’s serene fountain, with the mansion’s grand architecture providing an elegant backdrop. The quiet, intimate moment allowed them to take in the significance of the day before the celebrations began, resulting in stunning portraits that captured their excitement and connection.

Kacie looked effortlessly regal in a strapless A-line wedding gown, with floral applique detailing, sweetheart neckline, and a flowing train that added to the ethereal feel of the day. Craig rocked a timeless white tuxedo jacket, exuding sophistication. Their wedding party was equally stunning, with bridesmaids in soft pastel blue dresses and groomsmen in classic black suits, adding to the wedding’s elegant aesthetic.

The estate’s lush gardens and old-world charm provided the perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony. Guests were greeted by an aisle lined with delicate blooms in blush, ivory, and soft lavender, leading to a stunning floral arch that framed the couple as they exchanged vows.

The reception was a continuation of the day’s dreamy aesthetic. Elegant tablescapes featured soft candlelight, and a combination of towering greenery and lush floral centerpieces that echoed the garden-inspired theme. Chandeliers hung from the venue’s grand ceilings, casting a warm glow over the celebration. Every element, from the personalized details to the carefully curated color palette, reflected the couple’s timeless style.

Their first dance was nothing short of magical, complete with indoor fireworks that lit up the moment, adding a cinematic touch to the already breathtaking day. As the night continued, the energy soared with high-energy dancing, as guests celebrated Kacie and Craig’s new chapter.Their majestic Miami wedding was the epitome of sophistication and romance—a true fairytale come to life.

A Colombian Couple’s Intentional DIY Destination Wedding in Sintra, Portugal Proves You Don’t Need a Big Budget for Big Style

March 6, 2025 | justine

Carolina and Juan’s love story is as serendipitous as their wedding was intentional. The couple first met in university in their hometown of Cali, Colombia, where they briefly dated before becoming just friends. Life took them on separate journeys, but fate had other plans. Without knowing it, they both moved to Europe around the same time—Carolina to Portugal and Juan to France. They reconnected, started a long-distance relationship, and after two years of traveling back and forth, Carolina moved to Paris to join Juan and begin their life together. A year later, he proposed, and the couple decided to eventually settle in Portugal, which also became their DIY destination wedding location.

The couple envisioned a wedding that felt intimate, beautiful, and fun without the pressure of extravagance. They found the perfect venue at Quinta de São Thiago, nestled in the lush hills of Sintra. “We wanted a venue that felt dreamy and was already beautiful on its own, without much need for extra decor,” Carolina shares. “We also wanted a place where close family and friends could spend the night.”

From the very beginning, Carolina and Juan took on the planning themselves. “I’ve always been a super crafty, hands-on person and knew I could tackle this project,” Carolina says. “We didn’t really have the budget for a wedding planner, so we did a lot of the work ourselves.” Their planning process started with a Pinterest board to define the overall look and feel, and their top priority was securing a venue early so guests flying in from different countries had time to sort their flights.

With a keen eye for design, the couple prioritized photography and videography to preserve their special memories. “We were quite picky when choosing a photographer because we wanted someone who truly understood the vibe of our wedding, and Junebug vendor João Pedro Felix did that perfectly,” Carolina shares. As a heartfelt gift, a dear friend also filmed their wedding on Super 8, adding a nostalgic, cinematic touch to their memories.

What We Love About This DIY Destination Wedding:

  • Carolina and Juan didn’t sacrifice aesthetics despite a tight budget.
  • They served fresh-made pizza for dinner instead of a formal meal.
  • Carolina’s mom, a fashion designer, created both of her wedding dresses.
  • The bride, a pastry chef, baked her own wedding cake and cookies for a dessert bar.
  • A friend gifted them a Super 8 film of their wedding, making their memories even more special.

Featured Vendor:

João Pedro Felix

With creativity and resourcefulness, the couple made their DIY destination wedding uniquely their own. Carolina designed their invitations, welcome signs, and menus, while her mother, a fashion designer, sewed custom table runners, decorative ribbons, and even Carolina’s two wedding dresses. “She was so happy to be in charge of my dresses. I wanted something simple and elegant for the main dress and something a bit more fun for the second one.”

Among the many memorable moments, one that stood out was their vow exchange. “Since we did so much of the wedding ourselves, we were quite stressed leading up to it. We hadn’t even had time to write our vows until the night before! But once we were up there, looking at each other all dressed up, surrounded by our friends and family, saying beautiful words to each other, it all made sense and was all worth it.”

The couple worked within a tight budget, relying on their creativity and the generosity of their loved ones to bring their big day to life. “My mom was a huge help during the whole process, especially in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding,” Carolina shares. “But also, lots of our close family pitched in, helping us with last-minute details. Our friends were super supportive and a big help.” Despite financial constraints, they remained committed to their aesthetic vision. “We prioritized having good food and good vibes. We wanted everything to look beautiful, as we are both very aesthetically driven. We didn’t want to sacrifice having the wedding of our dreams due to a tighter budget—and we didn’t!”

While many couples opt for a formal multi-course meal, the couple took a different route. “We realized catering would be a huge chunk of our budget, and we didn’t even want a formal dinner,” Carolina explains. “Instead, we decided to serve some of our favorite food—pizza and fries!” They found an amazing sourdough pizza restaurant to make fresh, made-to-order pizzas for each guest, and for cocktail hour, they hired a company specializing in truffle fries and croquettes. “Everybody loved it.”

As a pastry chef, Carolina took on the challenge of making her own wedding cake and a special dessert bar filled with homemade cookies. “All my friends and family know and love my cookies, so I made about 150 mini cookies in various flavors and served them buffet-style after dinner,” she says.

Planning a wedding from scratch is no small feat, and Carolina offers honest advice: “Being so hands-on in the wedding planning process is definitely not for everyone! It was quite challenging, but I also really enjoyed it. Planning, creating a vibe, food, florals, and hosting are all things I love and am very passionate about, so it was amazing to do all these things for our own wedding.” Her biggest takeaway? “I couldn’t have done it without the help of loved ones. My biggest tip is don’t be afraid to ask for help! People who love you want to see you happy on your big day and are most likely very willing to help in any way they can—just ask.”
