Cass and Adam first thought about eloping because planning a big wedding was too stressful with many cultures and people involved. Adam is half Bengali and half Mexican, while Cass is half French and half Swiss. They met in Kenya when they were five and have since lived in many different countries. One side of their family wanted a big wedding with over 300 guests, while the other side preferred a small gathering of fewer than 50. Ultimately, they realized they wanted a big party where all their friends and family could come together. And they did just that! Their intimate Hacienda Sac Chich wedding weekend beautifully blended all cultures and became the joyous celebration they dreamed of.
Tucked away in the lush jungle of the Yucatán, with equal parts old-world charm and modern design, they couldn’t have chosen a more spectacular setting for their celebration. The 17th-century renovated henequen factory provided a magical backdrop for their ceremony, featuring a mix of cultural traditions. They had a traditional Bengali mirror ceremony and sealed a wine bottle with letters to open on their 5th anniversary, a French tradition. The garden reception that followed was equally enchanting, with lots of candles and long tables for conversation, all under glowing string lights.
We could go on and on, but we’ll let these images captured by Junebug member Alex Krotkov tell the complete story. If you’re looking for inspiration on how to create a unique celebration that honors your heritage, look no further.
A Intimate Hacienda Sac Chich Wedding Weekend of Cultural Harmony and Blending Traditions
We had a friends-only party on Thursday night so everyone could meet with friends from New Zealand, South Africa, Switzerland, France, and Denmark. On Friday, we hosted welcome drinks at a wine bar, wearing traditional Bengali outfits with Mariachi music, blending our cultures perfectly. Saturday was our wedding day, featuring a mix of cultural traditions. We had a conventional Bengali mirror ceremony where we looked at each other in a mirror and stated what we saw. We also sealed a wine bottle with letters to open on our 5th anniversary, a French tradition. Everything felt intimate. Adam and I took pictures with each guest, using them as the seating chart, and wrote personal notes for everyone. With 125 guests, the wedding felt incredibly intimate. The atmosphere featured lots of candles and long tables for conversation. During dinner, we played a French game where guests stood up if a statement applied to them, and we guessed what they had in common.
Embracing the Opportunity to Unite Loved Ones
You can do both, but if you’re ever in doubt about having a wedding—do it. You won’t regret it. We legally got married on our 10th anniversary in NYC on February 16th, 2023, with just the two of us. It felt like we had the elopement piece and didn’t need to plan a bigger wedding. But thank goodness we did! It’s the only time in your life when everyone unique to you will be in one place. As two people who have lived all over and have family worldwide, this was our one moment for all our loved ones to meet.
How They Made Each Guest Feel Valued at Their Intimate Hacienda Sac Chich Wedding
Our ability to make a 125-person wedding feel intimate was worth all the time and effort. Using pictures with each guest as the seating chart and writing a personal note to each guest made everyone feel special. We wanted to show appreciation to everyone who tried to celebrate with us. It was important to us that our guests felt our love for them. We wanted our wedding to be a close, heartfelt party with our friends and family, ensuring everyone felt welcome and valued.
The Story Behind Their Unique Intimate Hacienda Sac Chich Wedding Favors
We are very proud of our wedding favors, and many people don’t know the effort that went into them. Each guest received a little pouch and a travel tag. The pouches symbolized Bangladesh, and we filled them with French dragees (chocolate-covered almonds), a typical wedding treat in France. We initially ordered the pouches from Amazon but wanted a different quality, so Adam’s mom had them custom-made in Indonesia, choosing the fabric for each one. Cass’s mom brought the dragees and lavender from their garden in France. Both moms assembled the pouches with the dragees, lavender, and a little note when they arrived in Mexico, symbolizing the union of cultures. The travel tags, featuring our initials and the wedding date, were a keepsake to reflect our love for travel and to honor the journey everyone made to be with us on our special day.
How Adam’s Childhood Find Became a Sweet and Meaningful Wedding Surprise
Adam gave me a very significant ring that brought me to tears while I was getting ready (there are a few pictures from that moment). When he was eight years old, he found an engagement ring in the street in Vietnam. He kept it all these years, and I knew about it. I often asked him when I could have it, but he always said no. He had it appraised to ensure it was real diamonds, and on our wedding day, he gave it to my bridesmaids to present to me with a note: “I always knew I was going to give this ring to the woman I marry. I love you.”
Congratulations to Cass and Adam on their intimate Hacienda Sac Chichwedding, which was a celebration of cultures. A heartfelt thank you to Junebug vendor One Cameraman for expertly capturing every moment of their unforgettable celebration. The vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality make Mexico an enchanting destination for weddings. Whether you’re attending a beachfront ceremony in Cancun, a colonial-style celebration in San Miguel de Allende, or a traditional fiesta in Oaxaca, choosing the right attire is key to enjoying the festivities while respecting local customs. So, if you’re getting ready to hop on a plane to head down to Mexico to attend a wedding, and you’re unsure of what to wear, you’re in luck. From mini dresses to jumpsuits, we’re rounding up some outfit ideas that are perfect for any kind of celebration.
Tips for Dressing for a Mexican Wedding
Embrace vibrant colors: Mexico is known for its bold and bright colors. Embrace the local flair by choosing outfits in vibrant hues like turquoise, coral, green, or deep shades of blue. These not only reflect the country’s festive spirit but also stand out beautifully against Mexico’s scenery.
Lightweight fabrics: Mexico’s climate can vary from region to region, but generally, it tends to be warm and humid, especially in coastal areas. Opt for lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen to stay cool and comfortable throughout the day.
Respectful attire: While Mexican weddings are typically laidback, it’s important to still dress respectfully. Avoid overly casual attire such as shorts or flip-flops unless specified by the couple. If no dress code is specified, your best bet is to wear cocktail attire that you can dress up or down as needed.
These are just a few outfit ideas for a Mexico wedding, but there are so many other options out there. To see some of our favorite online retailers that have a wide variety of options, check out our guide on the best places to buy wedding guest dresses online!
Rachel and Ben didn’t stick to just one style for their wedding. Instead, they chose different looks they loved and combined them all. The challenge was making everything fit together nicely. But with the help of their visionary team of vendors, they managed to successfully pull off a renaissance, glam, metal, medieval Carnegie Museum wedding!
The couple chose a truly unique venue for their big day. Their dreamy ceremony took place in the Hall of Sculpture, featuring gold chairs, an altar adorned with flowers, and a flowing drapery backdrop. Meanwhile, the scene was set for a lavish reception at the Music Hall Foyer. Inspired by the Red Wedding feast from Game of Thrones, they showcased lush tablescapes draped in sprawling florals and greenery, with candles and gold accents perfectly complementing the ornate interiors.
Their special day was truly “a wedding like no other.” Just one glance at the photos taken by Rachel Rowland, and you’ll see why. If you and your partner are searching for unique wedding ideas, look no further.
Successfully Pulling Off Their Carnegie Museum Wedding Through Multiple Inspirations
We drew inspiration from multiple aesthetics, which posed the challenge of blending them seamlessly. The venue itself evoked medieval and Renaissance vibes, setting the tone for our celebration. Inspired by the Game of Thrones Red Wedding feast, our head table captured a similar ambiance. Our goal was to create a wedding that reflected us, our style, and our journey together. To personalize the experience, we named each table after bars from our hometown, with our head table honoring where we first met. Ultimately, the best advice I received was to choose what I love rather than stick to one style. This approach led us to our unique blend of Renaissance, glam, metal, and medieval elements for our wedding day.
Wedding Attire Style Inspirations and Personal Touches
I had many style inspirations: Bridget Bardot for my hair and Vivienne Westwood for my overall look. Buying the boots was a bit impulsive, but as a boot lover, I couldn’t resist. I left Ben to choose his outfit entirely on his own—I wanted him to feel confident and in control. It helped that all the groomsmen wore black; his only rule was no navy blue. I’m not a fan of bow ties or neckties. If I were a man, I’d never wear one. They look uncomfortable. So, I found chains and button covers on Etsy as alternatives, which perfectly matched our vibe, and the groomsmen loved them. I faced a challenge in making the bridesmaids stand out from the guests since they were also in black. My Maid of Honor suggested they wear black gloves to match mine, which was a perfect solution. As a bridesmaid gift, I got each of them Vivienne Westwood earrings to match mine, which they wore on the day. It was just perfect.
Personalizing Their Ceremony by Having Brothers as Officiants, Curated Music, and Heartfelt Vows
Having my brothers officiate the wedding was a bit nerve-wracking since I wasn’t sure what they would say—I am their little sister, after all. But it turned out to be incredibly sweet and perfect. We also curated the music for the string quartet, which was amazing. I highly recommend writing and reading your own vows for the ceremony; it made everything so much more personal and allowed our guests to learn more about us and our journey together. Despite our nerves, exchanging our vows was a highlight. Every guest we spoke to afterward told us how special it was.
Breaking the Mold by Embracing Personal Style Over Pinterest Trends
Here’s some advice for other couples: Don’t limit yourselves to a Pinterest board aesthetic! Embrace the things you love that don’t fit into a specific “box.” Everything came together perfectly because it was about what we genuinely liked and resonated with. Also, don’t hesitate to give your guests a dress code. We opted for all-black attire, which looked amazing and made it simpler for everyone to choose what to wear. Plus, let’s face it—everyone looks fabulous in black! I’m incredibly proud of how everything turned out. Planning from a distance, away from our home in Pittsburgh, required a lot of imagination to envision the final look, but it all came together beautifully in the end.
The Perfect Wedding Venue that Ticked All the Right Boxes
Our most important elements were the venue, attire, and food. We were set on having everything indoors, leading us to choose a venue in a city we had never visited. When we discovered the Carnegie Museum Music Hall Foyer through photos, we initially thought it was in Europe—it had that charm. To our surprise, it was just three hours away in Pittsburgh! When we visited in person, we were overwhelmed and even shed a few tears seeing its stunning beauty firsthand. It was perfect for our wedding.
Simple and Meaningful Thank-You Gifts at Their Carnegie Museum Wedding
We opted not to give gifts with our names on them or something guests might not use. Instead, we gave everyone a thank-you card and a $1 scratcher. It was a simple gesture that we hoped would bring some fun and appreciation to our guests.
Personalizing Carnegie Museum Wedding Decor with Professional Flair
I designed our thank-you cards, save-the-dates, and custom cocktail signage myself—I’m a designer by profession, so this was a joyful task. I advise anyone considering DIY projects to choose something you genuinely enjoy doing. For our cocktail sign, I hand-drew our pets on my iPad and then created the sign using Canva. I found frames on Amazon to display them beautifully. I also used Canva for the rest of our designs, which I disliked, but I’ve come to appreciate its affordability, ease of use, and versatility. It’s an excellent software for creative projects.
Congratulations to Rachel and Ben on their Carnegie Museum wedding, which truly was a medieval dream come to life. Thank you to Rachel Rowland for capturing all the unique details that unconventional couples can use as inspiration.
Planning an unforgettable celebration begins with a clear vision and a stellar team. Start by exploring our comprehensive planning and budget guides to kickstart your journey. Then, assemble your dream team of expert vendors from our trusted selection. Together, you can create an event that exceeds all expectations and leaves a lasting impression.
It’s no surprise that planning a wedding can be overwhelming. From hiring vendors to selecting the perfect venue, there’s a lot to sort out. And if that weren’t challenging enough, integrating two different cultures into one celebration adds another layer of complexity. But the good news is, you don’t have to do it alone. To help you navigate the intricacies of a multicultural wedding, here are some tips for seamlessly blending traditions, honoring diverse backgrounds, and creating a cohesive celebration that reflects your unique love story.
What Is a Multicultural Wedding?
A multicultural wedding is the union of two individuals from different cultural or religious backgrounds. It’s a celebration that thoughtfully incorporates traditions from both partners to create a harmonious blend of their unique heritages.
1. Discuss Top Priorities With Your Partner
To ensure your special day is respectful and inclusive of both cultures, it’s important to be on the same page with your partner from the beginning. So, before diving into the planning process, have open discussions with both families about their cultural traditions and rituals.
While it’s ultimately your wedding and your rules, these conversations can help you explore all your options. Then, you and your partner can sit down privately to identify which traditions are most important to each of you and prioritize them in your planning.
Use your wedding planning process as an opportunity to get to know your partner and their culture better. Instead of simply creating a timeline, take the time to understand the significance behind each custom and tradition you plan to incorporate. This will strengthen your bond and help you appreciate the importance of each element of your wedding day.
3. Hire a Venue and Vendors That Can Accommodate You
Choosing your venue and vendors are some of the most significant decisions you’ll make during your wedding planning process. They play such an important role in bringing your vision to life. For a multicultural wedding, ensure the venue can accommodate your desired event, as this may require more planning than a traditional wedding. Consider factors such as space availability and any logistical restrictions that might prevent you from including certain rituals.
Same goes for selecting vendors. Hire professionals–specifically a planner or coordinator–with experience in multicultural weddings. These experts can guide you through every step, alleviating much of the stress and ensuring a seamless and respectful celebration.
Because finding vendors or a venue that is more aligned with what you have in mind for your big day may take a bit longer than usual, we recommend looking early. This can help ease some worries and ensure that everything goes off without a hitch.
4. Don’t Be Afraid to Blending Traditions in Your Multicultural Wedding
Each culture inevitably has its own customs and traditions. And for those planning a wedding that’s a fusion of two cultures, you’ll need to go through each one and determine which you’ll want to incorporate on your wedding day. For major parts of the day, like the ceremony or reception, you don’t have to stick to just one culture. Don’t hesitate to blend traditions.
Consider incorporating elements from both cultures into a single ceremony (often referred to as a dual ceremony), or have two separate ceremonies to honor each culture distinctly.
5. Respect Religious and Cultural Sensitivities
Though this one may seem straightforward, it’s crucial to be mindful of religious or cultural sensitivities when planning the ceremony, attire, food choices, and entertainment. Throughout the day, emphasize the idea of unity and love and don’t be afraid to include elements that symbolize the coming together of two families and cultures–so long as they respect your partner’s culture and beliefs.
6. Language Considerations for Your Multicultural Wedding
Junebug vendor and photographer David Lack, has experience in this field being multicultural and multilingual himself. His biggest tip is to factor in the potential of different languages your guests may speak. “Language diversity among guests is a significant factor. Ensure you have bilingual staff or interpreters to facilitate communication. Provide translated materials and consider bilingual ceremony programs or signage to ensure everyone feels included and informed.”
7. Incorporate Traditional Attire From Both Cultures
You’ve likely heard of or seen the dramatic reception outfit change, where one or both partners change outfits before the reception. This is a perfect way to embrace multiple cultures in your celebration. Since many wedding garments hold significant meaning, multiple outfit changes to honor both cultures is the perfect way to nod to the cultures most important to you and your partner. Additionally, you can encourage guests to wear attire from either or both cultures and provide guidance on what’s appropriate.
8. Include Bilingual Invitations and Programs
If guests speak different languages, consider bilingual invitations, ceremony programs, and signage to ensure everyone understands and feels included. If everyone does speak the same language, you can use your programs or other signage to familiarize your guests with the different customs or traditions you plan on including throughout the day. This helps give them an understanding of what to expect.
9. Create a Fusion Menu
During the wedding planning process, many couples get caught up in the fun aspects like flowers and wedding attire, etc. But don’t underestimate the impact of your catering. Whether you’re having a sit-down meal or buffet, it’s a detail that couples can get creative with.
Rather than sticking with dishes from one background, hire a talented caterer that can help create a custom menu featuring dishes from both cultures, giving your guests a delicious taste of each heritage.
The key to pulling off a multicultural wedding—or any wedding, for that matter—is having a talented team by your side. They are an invaluable part of your wedding, regardless of what stage you’re at. With seemingly endless vendor options, narrowing them down can be challenging. That’s where we come in.

Embracing Less Than Ideal Weather at Their Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa Wedding
We are a couple of Myanmar descent, and ours was the first wedding of its kind that was organized. We began with a traditional Myanmar ceremony followed by a Western ceremony. Unfortunately, heavy rain during the Myanmar ceremony meant we couldn’t take many photos. We quickly moved on to the Western ceremony as soon as the rain stopped. Despite the initial setback, we hoped for clear skies, and thankfully, the weather was perfect for the rest of the night. We feel incredibly fortunate because it allowed us to capture many beautiful photos of our special day.
Expressing Their Love and Commitment Through Heartfelt Vows
We wrote our own vows, expressing our love, promises, and commitments in our own heartfelt words. A close friend officiated the ceremony, adding an intimate touch. This personalized approach made our wedding feel deeply meaningful and truly reflective of our journey together.
Celebrating Their Mayanmar Heritage and Unity With Western Traditions
We take great pride in successfully blending our Myanmar heritage with Western traditions at our wedding. This allowed us to celebrate our cultural background while embracing modern elements. Despite challenges like unexpected rain during the Myanmar ceremony, we adapted and continued with a memorable event that truly reflected who we are as a couple. Overall, we are proud of how we honored our roots while creating a beautiful and meaningful celebration with our loved ones. Additionally, creating a warm and welcoming environment for our families and friends to celebrate together was our top priority. We focused on details that made their wedding day memorable, not just for us but for everyone who attended, emphasizing meaningful experiences and connections throughout the event.
Budgeting for their Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa Wedding Wisely and Preparing for the Unexpected
When planning your wedding, prioritize the aspects that mean the most to both of you, whether it’s the venue, food, attire, or photography. Discuss and agree on a realistic budget for each element, allowing flexibility for unexpected costs. Always have contingency plans for potential disruptions, such as bad weather or vendor issues, to ensure a smooth and stress-free celebration. By focusing on what’s important to you as a couple, planning within your means, and preparing for contingencies, you can create a memorable wedding day that reflects your values and priorities.
Why Marriott Merlin Beach Was Their Ideal Choice
My love for the beach was a significant factor in choosing Marriott Merlin Beach for our destination wedding. It is situated near Patong, a vibrant area renowned for its shopping, nightlife, local cuisine, and accommodations. This venue ensures that all our guests, many foreigners unfamiliar with Phuket, can effortlessly explore and savor the island’s offerings during their stay.
Enhancing the Guest Experience with Thoughtful and Useful Keepsakes
At our wedding, we curated thoughtful gifts for our guests to enhance their experience and serve as cherished keepsakes. Among these were program hand fans featuring a beach design, ideal for guests to use during the ceremony in anticipation of warm weather. Additionally, we provided magnets and bottle openers in fabric pouches adorned with a screen-printed logo, ensuring guests had memorable tokens to take home. A standout feature was the sea coral place card holder, which served a practical purpose and doubled as a lasting memento from our beach-themed celebration, adding an elegant touch to the occasion.
Elevating Their First Dance with Fountain Fireworks at Their Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa Wedding
During our first dance, we delighted our guests with a breathtaking display of fountain fireworks. This unexpected addition added a magical and unforgettable moment to our wedding celebration, creating a joyful atmosphere and enhancing the overall experience for everyone present.

Camille and Tabitha wanted a simple, elegant celebration with neutral tones and soft pinks. With the help of their wedding planner and sister, their vision came to life at their Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive wedding. Having visited the resort with their families before, they fell in love with its beauty, ambiance, delicious food, and exceptional service. They wanted their guests to celebrate their marriage, relax, and enjoy the resort. Saying they made their dream into a beautiful reality would be an understatement!
The couple chose the perfect venue for their celebration, surrounded by tropical landscapes and luxurious ballrooms. Their outdoor ceremony was a fairytale come to life, featuring a stunning mandap adorned with dreamy, delicate blooms and drapery. The reception was equally spectacular, filled with breathtaking floral arrangements.
The brides also set serious wedding fashion goals. They were absolutely stunning in their complementing ornate lehengas, which they later changed into chic wedding dresses. Personalized Touches at Their Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Wedding: Crafting Memorable Moments from Ceremony to Reception
We created custom pamphlets for our ceremony, providing a step-by-step guide for each part of the event. We also designed custom fans to keep our guests comfortable during the outdoor ceremony. Our seating chart theme at the reception was “The Perfect Match.” Each guest received a personalized match set in a crystal holder, designating their table number. We also featured two signature cocktails: Dos Dulahins and BalgoBliss.
Celebrating Love and Heritage
Our most memorable part of the day was the post-ceremony cocktail hour. We breathed easier and let loose after our beautiful Hindu ceremony, filled with vibrant traditions and heartfelt moments. The ceremony, decorated with a stunning mandap, gorgeous draping, and intricate rituals, was a testament to our love and cultural heritage. As we moved into the cocktail hour, knowing the first part of our day went smoothly with our weddings, we danced with our family and couldn’t stop smiling.
Seamless Coordination Thanks to Their Local Wedding Planner
Hiring a wedding planner was undoubtedly the best decision we made. The Eventeur went above and beyond to turn our dreams into reality. Given that we were having a destination wedding, we needed to choose a wedding planner and vendors local to Cancun. Their expertise and familiarity with the area ensured everything went seamlessly.
Embracing Love in an Inclusive Environment
We were breaking boundaries. We were most proud of our friends and family’s overwhelming love and support. Celebrating our interracial same-sex relationship in such an inclusive environment was incredibly meaningful. It was a powerful reminder that love transcends boundaries, and seeing our diverse guests come together to honor our union filled us with so much pride and gratitude.
Why They Chose Hilton Cancun for Their Special Day
We chose the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort for our wedding because it held a special place in our hearts. Having visited the resort with our family before, we immediately fell in love with its beauty, ambiance, food, and exceptional service. We wanted our guests to enjoy the celebration of our marriage and have time to relax and enjoy the resort. The positive feedback from our guests confirmed that it was the perfect choice. The Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort provided an unforgettable experience for everyone, making our wedding magical.
What Made Their “Balgo Brides” Welcome Bags Special
To make our guests feel even more welcome, we provided custom “Balgo Brides” welcome bags filled with thoughtful essentials. Each bag included custom sunglasses, organic sunscreen, hand lotion, safety pins (which came in clutch for some Indian outfits), bindis (Indian jewelry), ibuprofen, electrolyte packets, hand sanitizer, stain remover, and a customized itinerary for all of our wedding events.

Gema and Jose are a fun-loving and adventurous couple passionate about design, fashion, music, and food. They wanted their wedding day to reflect their lifestyle and tastes with a modern, daring, yet elegant style that truly represented them. Starting with a venue that allowed them to bring all these elements together, their Huerto de San Vicente wedding featured dreamy florals, a contemporary aesthetic, and fashion-forward attire, perfectly embodying who they are.
The ceremony occurred in the property’s grove, surrounded by towering trees, creating a truly picturesque moment. The aisle followed the natural contour of the location, lined with dried grass and white blooms, and ghost chairs led to the altar. As guests moved to the reception hall, they were greeted by beautifully decorated tables filled with flowers and candles. Adding a final touch of elegance were towering arrangements that seemed to sprout from the ground, all tied together with raffia lamps.

Selecting Wedding Attire That Was Appropriate, Comfortable, and Reflective of Their Personalities
I’ve always loved wearing hats, especially headpieces. Eliurpi’s designs have fascinated me for years, so I knew I had to wear one of their creations for this special occasion. Edgar Molina designed an outfit that made the hat the focal point. I wore an elegant and simple dress with a silk cape to balance the look and added a bold touch with black shoes by Amina Muaddi. Later at the party, I opted for a more relaxed feel. I removed the hat, let my hair down, and wore a shiny bolero jacket that looked beautiful as I moved. José Miguel followed daytime wedding etiquette by wearing a morning coat—a three-piece suit with a long tailcoat custom-made by Seligra tailors. Our goal was to enhance our silhouettes while staying true to protocol and feeling comfortable so we could fully enjoy our big day. Working with Edgar Molina and Adrián Seligra on these custom designs was a wonderful experience, and we will happily repeat it.
How Their Wedding Planner Brought Their Dream Huerto de San Vicente Wedding to Life
Our wedding planner skillfully brought all our ideas to life on our special day. They utilized the estate’s spaces to enhance its architecture beautifully. For instance, during the ceremony in the grove, they creatively used the natural curves of the trees to create a stunning, organic aisle, complemented by clear acrylic chairs that added a magical touch. The gardens at cocktail hour were transformed with minimalist white and neutral-toned furniture, looking spectacular. The planner achieved a wow effect inside the hall with three long tables, including a gracefully curved central table. Floral arrangements sprouted elegantly from the ground, blending seamlessly with suspended raffia lamps. The curved table, adorned with ceramic candelabras, anthuriums, and candles, looked stunning. The overall ambiance was incredible, and the outcome was genuinely breathtaking.
Recalling Their Emotional and Unforgettable Huerto de San Vicente Wedding Ceremony
There were so many incredible moments, but if we had to pick one, it would be the ceremony. It was profoundly emotional yet filled with joy, simply beautiful. The first moment of walking out arm in arm with our parents and seeing everyone looking so happy and radiant was unforgettable. Walking to the tune of “A Thousand Years,” each step filled with joy, and singing the song in my head was incredibly special. And seeing him at the end of the aisle, so elegant and handsome, visibly moved with a huge smile and teary eyes, was a moment I’ll never forget. We enjoyed the entire ceremony together, listening to our story amidst knowing glances and smiles and sharing anecdotes until we exchanged our sincere vows.
A Venue That Ticked All the Right Boxes
We chose Huerto de San Vicente because its surroundings reflect our Mediterranean culture perfectly, surrounded by orchards and orange fields. The estate features expansive gardens with versatile spaces, including a charming grove and pine forest where we held our ceremony. Its spacious hall accommodated all 250 guests comfortably. We also loved the estate’s catering, which emphasizes local produce and offers meticulously crafted, exquisite gastronomy that resonated with our tastes.
Setting the Mood with a Thoughtful Music Choices Throughout Their Huerto de San Vicente Wedding
Choosing the music was crucial for our wedding, especially during the cocktail hour and reception. We hired a Funky-Jazz band called Ay Trick for the cocktail hour, who got everyone dancing and enjoying themselves. After dinner, we brought in the Portuguese Marching band, Alta Cena, who energized us all and made the transition from dinner to the party unforgettable. We ended the night with a fantastic session by DJ Kid Rizzo, keeping the dance floor alive and ending the celebration on a high note.
Honoring a Legacy Through Their Wedding Favors
My aunt, a talented ceramicist, had a tradition of crafting wedding gifts for her loved ones, including traditional Valencian dolls. As the youngest in the family, I knew she would want to create something special for our wedding. Instead of dolls, we decided on a unisex design: a beautiful vase for guests to take home, part of the wedding decor. We collaborated closely on the design, and she lovingly created 250 glazed vases that adorned the reception hall’s tables. Just two weeks before our wedding, her passing was unexpected, but her presence was felt in every vase, each a piece of her final artwork. It made the gift even more meaningful, ensuring she remained in our hearts and memories and allowing each guest to take home a part of her legacy.
The Importance of Choosing the Right Team
Finding professionals who can capture your essence and align with your tastes is crucial. That’s why conducting thorough interviews and initial contacts is essential. It’s important to establish trust and feel a good connection with them. While conveying your ideas is essential, it’s also valuable to be open to their advice. On your special day, it’s about enjoying every moment to the fullest without worrying about the details, which is why entrusting the work to professionals is invaluable.

Surrounded by breathtaking 360-degree views of the high desert valley, the garden ceremony was a standout moment of the couple’s special day. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows under a trellis adorned with colorful drapery, garlands, and lush blooms. This was followed by a dreamy poolside reception featuring tablescapes of vibrant floral arrangements, earthy accents, and gold settings, all illuminated by string lights. It was a night of endless partying and dancing, creating unforgettable memories for everyone.

How They Brought Their Dream Casa Adela Destination Wedding to Life
San Miguel de Allende has been a city high on our bucket list of places to travel together. We also knew we wanted to create a unique and memorable experience for our friends and family when they attended our wedding. We were immediately drawn to the colonial-style charm and architecture of the city, as well as the romantic gardens displaying the most stunning florals and trees. We found all that and more. Once we finalized our venue, it was easy to envision the vibe of our perfect day. We couldn’t wait to get married under the romantic sunset in San Miguel. Our guests had such a fantastic experience and are already planning their return.
Advice for a Memorable and Stress-Free Wedding Day
The best advice I can give any future bride and groom is to remember the reason for your wedding day—to celebrate the love you share and declare your commitment to one another. Friends and family will have a lot of input about the details of your wedding, but try not to sweat the small stuff and stick to what makes you, as a couple, happy. If your budget allows, find a wedding planner whose portfolio reflects your envisioned wedding day. Our incredible planners, Bougainvillea Weddings, turned our dreams into reality. Every aspect of our wedding weekend was planned down to the last detail, and we were lucky enough to have the most talented photographer and videographer capture these special moments in film.
Celebrating Vibrant Personalities Through Vibrant Floral Displays
We are most proud of the beautiful floral arrangements created by Bougainvillea Weddings for our special day. We have never seen such an elegant display of floral decor. I would like to think that my husband and I have fun, colorful personalities, and it was important to us that our florals and decor reflect that. Our planners took our inspiration and created the most beautiful arrangements. In fact, I took my bridal bouquet back to Texas so we could preserve it and display it in our home.
How Casa Adela Became Their Dream Wedding Venue
We were completely enamored by Casa Adela as soon as we saw photographs of the venue and property. Casa Adela offers simplistic and artfully designed spaces that allow the beauty of San Miguel de Allende to shine through. When we rented the property, we were excited to be able to host our families for the whole weekend. Beyond that, the intimate courtyard and stunning views from the terrace were exactly what we were hoping for. We experienced exceptional care and hospitality from the staff, and we cannot wait to return.
Exceptional Wedding Planning with Junebug Vendor Bougainvillea Weddings
We were so pleased with our exceptional experience with our wedding planners at Bougainvillea Weddings. We met with Estela Maldonado, director of Bougainvillea, in a virtual call and knew she and her team could turn our dream into reality. Their ability to offer “turn-key” wedding planning services is precisely what we needed. They create florals and decor, offer catering and bartending services, and coordinate all the logistics of your wedding events (welcome party, rehearsal dinner, wedding day). I don’t know what I would have done without their expertise, and we are forever grateful for the amazing experience Bougainvillea Weddings created for us and our families.
Congratulations to Josline and JJ on their Casa Adela destination wedding bursting with color. Thank you to Carolin Volker for capturing every special moment and beautiful detail that made their intimate celebration truly memorable. Whether you’re envisioning a rustic celebration or simply a bold, fun-filled weekend with friends and family, a summer camp wedding can bring your vision to life in the most magical way. So, if you’re looking at hosting your very own weekend getaway, consider incorporating these touches to elevate your outdoor affair.
15 Summer Camp Wedding Ideas
1. Set Up Tents
To bring in the full summer camp feelings to your big day, pitch tents around your venue for your guests to enjoy during cocktail hour or your reception. Filled with blankets and games, these are the perfect pockets of peace to escape the dance floor for a bit.
Instead of traditional table numbers, opt to include flags with different names as table markers so your guests know where to sit. They’re not only useful, but they also make for really adorable detail photos.
Speaking of seating, the theme doesn’t have to stop at the table numbers. If you want to use regular numbers but still want to incorporate the theme, you can add it to your seating chart. Of course, there’s no stopping you from using it for both! Why not name your tables after camp items or campgrounds that are special to you and your partner?
There’s nothing more magical than dining under the stars. It’s not too often that you get to enjoy dinner with your closest loved ones in a beautiful setting, making your wedding the perfect place to create memories to last a lifetime.
We’re always going to advocate for unique wedding attire that makes you feel most comfortable on your big day. While you don’t need an excuse to wear a colored suit, a summer camp wedding, which typically involves a brighter color palette, is a great setting to bring in more color into your outfit–especially emerald green to match the surrounding scenery.
If you’re tying the knot near a body of water and have access to a body of water, take time after your ceremony to go on a short canoe ride. It’s a moment that you can spend with just your significant other to soak in the day, and it’s a great photo opportunity.
Whether you use them as decor, a place to hold any cards guests may bring you, or favors, picnic baskets are an easy, inexpensive way to elevate the theme. If you’re unsure of where to find baskets (or you’re looking to save a little), start at your local thrift stores.
Although you may be serving signature cocktails along with beer and wine, if you’re planning on having any canned drinks (including non-alcoholic), consider filling up a canoe with ice and using it as a drink holder for guests to visit whenever they need another beverage.
Guest books are a great way to look back at all of those who helped celebrate you years after the wedding is over. If you want something more aligned with your theme, take a note from Ali and Jesse’s book. The couple created a mini questionnaire for their guests, which was the perfect entertainment to fill some time. Now they can look back at their guest’s answers to help bring them back to that special moment.
As we mentioned earlier, there’s something about flags that are the epitome of summer camp, so if you’re looking for another guest book idea, this is another themed option that also doubles as home decor once you’re finished. You could also store the flags in a scrapbook for safekeeping.
From kayaks to oars to tents, there are countless items that you can incorporate into a customized logo that you can display throughout your wedding. Whether you add it to your favors (like these patches and hot sauces) or include it on some of your signage, it’s a simple way to make your wedding more personalized.
Flags don’t have to be all over the wedding if it’s not something you’re interested in. If you want something more subtle, add one to your sweetheart table to help it stand out amongst the rest.
If you want to have a plated dinner at your summer camp wedding, go for it. However, we’re big fans of food trucks. They’re a lot more laidback, which is fitting for the atmosphere, and they’re an easy way to get multiple different food options so that everyone is happy and fed.
Whether you’re doing a traditional wedding cake or a dessert bar, a s’mores bar is a fun addition for everyone with a sweet tooth. Include it with other desserts (pie and ice cream, anyone?), or set it up next to a bonfire as a late-night snack.
If you’re going to spend money on wedding favors, you want to make sure they’re something that your guests are going to use again. That’s why we love camping mugs. Every time they drink their cup of coffee or tea, they’re going to think about you and your partner and the love you shared on your big day.
