Colorful and Tropical Casa Risa Intimate Wedding

June 8, 2024 | justine

Afonso and Ron picked their cozy boutique hotel as the spot for their wedding. It’s where their love story began, so saying “I do” there felt just right. Their intimate Casa Risa wedding was cozy, with only 30 of their nearest and dearest. The place had a chill, natural vibe that mixed perfectly with the lush garden surroundings. It felt like a tropical paradise right in their backyard, and amazingly, they planned everything in just one month.

With their trusted team of vendors, the pair transformed the poolside area into a cozy ceremony venue. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, they shared sweet vows that melted guests’ hearts. Then, it was time to party! The garden reception was filled with laughter, dancing, and joy that lasted all night long.

With guests arriving from all over the world to share in their joy, the couple added their own special touch to their intimate celebration. Junebug vendor Pedro Filipe Fotografia captured their love and happiness perfectly. If you want fresh ideas for your own big day, check out their magical celebration!

Afonso and Ron

The Wedding:

Casa Risa, Portugal

Embracing a Relaxed Atmosphere at Their Casa Risa Intimate Wedding

We wanted to honor the mood of our venue by having a ceremony and reception that matched it. When we invited only our closest family and friends, we wanted them to feel relaxed and at home. Our planner suggested a relaxed and natural style that perfectly fit Casa Risa and us. It was like a tropical vibe that seamlessly blended with the garden. Since Casa Risa brought us together, it felt only right to get married there.

Making the Most of Rainy Moments

The wedding took place on October 28, and the weather was uncertain. We knew it might rain but decided to take the risk anyway. After enjoying a wonderful sunny day, the rain unexpectedly arrived during the garden party. However, nobody let it spoil the fun, and those five minutes under the light rain actually helped to cool down the temperature. It added a memorable and refreshing touch to the celebration.

Wedding Wisdom: Start with a Planner

The best advice we can give is to find a wedding planner as soon as possible. Our planner helped us plan our entire wedding in just a month, and they guided us through everything, from budgeting to vendor research.

Keeping It Intimate with a Thoughtful Guest Selection

Since most of our guests are from abroad, coming from the US, Brazil, and France, we decided to limit the guest list to our closest friends and immediate family. We wanted everyone to feel truly welcome and at home, not just as observers but as part of our love and celebration.

Customized Wedding Keepsakes That Doubled as Name Cards

We gave our guests personalized Portuguese tiles with their names on them, which doubled as name tags. It was a special touch that added a unique and meaningful element to our wedding celebration.

Keeping It Real with Comfortable Wedding Attire

We wanted to feel true to ourselves and be comfortable on our big day. Afonso rocked a stylish blue suit, a crisp white shirt, a bolo tie, and a pair of sharp shoes. As for me, I opted for a more relaxed look, sporting jeans, a smart blazer, a bolo tie, some classic Cowboy boots, and topping it off with a leather hat (a true Missouri touch).

Creating a Personalized Ceremony by Honoring Their Love Story

The ceremony was the most unforgettable part of our day. Our officiant, Mafalda, worked closely with us to craft a ceremony that truly reflected who we are. We focused on our vows, the special moments of the day, and the heartfelt words shared by our witnesses. It was a deeply meaningful and personal experience that we’ll cherish forever.

Timeless Villa il Garofalo Destination Wedding With Sweeping Views

June 3, 2024 | justine

Carla and Irtaza dreamed of a wedding set against a breathtaking backdrop they’d never forget. Both avid travelers, they struggled to pick the perfect city. But when Florence emerged as a contender, it just felt right. The instant they glimpsed their venue, it was like destiny unfolding. Surrounded by the lush beauty of an Italian garden adorned with lush flowers and classic hues, their Villa il Garofalo destination wedding was a dream come to life.

In their garden ceremony, a beautiful path bordered by white flowers guided them to an altar framed by floral pillars, setting a picturesque stage for their heartfelt promises. Yet, the timeless magic continued throughout the festivities. Their reception boasted tables adorned with breathtaking centerpieces, softly lit by the flicker of candles. To top it off, sparkling chandeliers hung above, casting a spell that turned their celebration into a scene straight out of a fairy tale.

The combination of those special touches and the stunning setting truly made this event unforgettable. For a closer glimpse at this romantic celebration, take a look at the stunning details planned by Junebug vendor The Different Twins, all photographed beautifully by Linda Nari Photography.

The Couple:

Carla and Irtaza

The Wedding:

Villa il Garofalo, Italy

Saying “I Do” at Their Villa il Garofalo Destination Wedding With Florence’s Iconic Duomo as Backdrop

From the beginning of wedding planning, we knew we wanted a timeless event and a breathtaking view. As lovers of travel, narrowing down the city was the hardest part. But once we both decided on Florence and our planner showed us Villa il Garofalo, which was also the home of Dante and Beatrice, everything else fell into place. The villa itself is stunning, with its beautiful gardens and classic architecture. It overlooks the entire city of Florence, and you get a picture-perfect view of the Duomo from the gardens of the villa.

Crafting the Perfect Italian Garden Celebration

With the villa selected, the decision to have an Italian garden wedding was seamless. Everything after that was geared towards giving the event a timeless and classic feel, just as we had wanted. From the table settings to floral arrangements to the classic Italian Millefeuille cake and gelato cart, our mindset was focused on simple yet elegant choices. Of course, our amazing wedding team helped bring our visions to reality—they were incredible.

A DJ With a Live Saxophone Player, Endless Hugo Spritzes, and an Incredible Ceremony View

For my husband, the most memorable part was the cocktail hour–from the exit to the champagne tower–and then the DJ with a live saxophone player. Not to mention all the amazing aperitifs. It is truly a special feeling getting to celebrate that moment with our closest family and friends. The Hugo spritz was flowing, and people were already dancing the day away in celebration. For me, it was the actual wedding ceremony itself. The emotion of walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my closest friends and family in Florence, with my future husband awaiting me while overlooking the Duomo, was overwhelming and memorable. We also had one of our best friends as our officiant, making the ceremony feel all the more meaningful.

Why Hiring a Planner is Key to Stress-Free Planning Their Villa il Garofalo Destination Wedding

Hire a great planner; they will make your life so much easier. Also, let the vendors guide you and give them the freedom to express their creativity. They are experts and very experienced, and they will be able to make your dreams come true without you needing to micromanage every detail. For example, we provided our florist with a color scheme and instructions to make the flowers feel timeless, and she ran with it and did an incredible job. Too many times, we want to be involved in every last detail, which makes the planning process too stressful.

Treasures From Florence and Handcrafted Mementos to Welcome Their Guests at Their Villa il Garofalo Destination Wedding

At our welcome party, we gave our guests a Florence tote bag filled with our wedding newspaper, risotto, and a mini bottle of Chianti. All of the items were purchased in Florence. For the day of the wedding, we paid our calligrapher to hand-paint watercolor postcards.

Magical Casa de Don Andrés de Madariaga y Morales Wedding

April 10, 2024 | justine

Mandy and Mason adore traveling together, and their hearts beat for Cartagena, their most cherished city in the world. It was the dream spot where they tied the knot, surrounded by its vibrant culture, mouthwatering cuisine, and undeniable romance. When planning their wedding, they aimed to infuse it with authentic Colombian traditions while adding their unique touch. With a romantic vibe, breathtaking flowers, and rich colors, their Casa de Don Andrés de Madariaga y Morales wedding was a celebration where love truly flourished in every detail.

In the heart of the Old City, the couple exchanged vows in the renowned 16th-century church, setting the stage for a magical ceremony. They transformed the historic venue into a fairytale setting, adorning the aisle and altar with abundant flowers. The enchantment continued into their courtyard reception, where a stunning display of white and red blooms adorned elegant tables illuminated by flickering candles. Under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights, they savored delicious food, danced, and celebrated their love long into the night.

The Stewarts Roam did a fantastic job capturing every detail of the pair’s special day. It’s a magical event you won’t want to miss seeing!

The Couple:

Mandy and Mason

The Wedding:

Casa de Don Andrés de Madariaga y Morales, Cartagena de Indias, Colombia

The Power of Personal Vows in Their Ceremony

It was really important to Mason that we write and say our own vows during the ceremony. Writing them was much harder than I expected because there was so much I wanted to say. Ultimately, I pretended it was just the two of us there and spoke from the heart. We both had a difficult time holding back tears during our vows.

Blending Cultures and Traditions at Their Casa de Don Andrés de Madariaga y Morales Wedding

I have always had a deep passion for traveling, and now Mason and I have crossed many countries off our bucket list. We knew we wanted to plan a destination wedding weekend with multiple events to ensure we could spend plenty of time with each of our guests. Our favorite city in the world is Cartagena, and we knew it was the perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and romance for our wedding. We planned a rooftop welcome party at Movich Hotel and a private island beach party at Blue Apple Beach Club, in addition to the wedding day. While designing the wedding, we wanted to incorporate some authentic Colombian traditions while also bringing our own flare. The ceremony and reception venues themselves offer stunning architecture, and we opted to design the aesthetic to highlight the natural beauty of the spaces.

Navigating Their Casa de Don Andrés de Madariaga y Morales Wedding Mishaps with Grace

We tried to keep our planning fun. At the end of the day, this event is about celebrating your love and commitment to one another. Though it can be stressful, we tried to use it as an excuse to have a planning “date night” together. One valuable piece of advice I received and would happily pass on is this: things might not always go as planned, and that’s perfectly fine. Hardly anyone even notices! For instance, our welcome bags were supposed to be shipped from the States but never arrived. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, we had our weekend itinerary cards handed out as guests entered the welcome party. To our surprise, many attendees approached us to express how delightful it was, completely unaware that there should have been welcome bags in the first place! Ultimately, because I wasn’t fixated on achieving absolute perfection, I found it easier to shrug off minor mishaps and enjoy the occasion to the fullest.

Celebrating the Bride’s Grandmother’s Presence as Their Flower Girl

We were so proud of my 85-year-old grandmother for traveling to Colombia and being our “flower girl.” We have an extraordinarily close relationship, and it meant the world to me to have her as a part of our day. She was an absolute rockstar.

Elevating Their Casa de Don Andrés de Madariaga y Morales Wedding Experience With a Midnight Surprise

We surprised our guests with a Colombian tradition called “Hora Loca” (Crazy Hour). At midnight, there were suddenly costumed performers, feathered dancers, lights, and wild entertainment. It got everyone energized, and the dance floor was packed.

This Colorful South Carolina Backyard Wedding Was All About Family

January 30, 2024 | justine

Abby and Aidan were clear from the beginning—they wanted their wedding to reflect who they were in every way possible. They kicked things off by choosing a meaningful venue: Aidan’s grandparents’ family home, a place rooted in family history since the 60s. The backyard, overlooking a serene neighborhood lake, held a special significance as Aidan’s parents, aunt, and uncle had tied the knot in the exact spot on the gazebo where they would later exchange vows. Drawn by the sweet love stories and countless memories created there, the couple felt compelled to continue the tradition, leading them to celebrate their special day with a heartfelt South Carolina backyard wedding.

Imagine a picturesque waterside gazebo ceremony with lovely floral pillars, the perfect spot for the couple to tie the knot. The celebration carried on with a lively backyard reception where tables were adorned with vibrant setups—picture pink runners, colorful glassware, and the inviting glow of candles. Above, string lights and disco balls sprinkled a touch of magic. The dance floor, featuring a delightful pastel checkered pattern, welcomed guests to kick off their shoes and revel in an all-night party filled with joy and celebration.

If you’re looking to add some flair to your wedding fashion or searching for creative ways to turn your backyard into a dreamy reception venue, the images captured by Payton Urueta Photography have all the inspiration you need. Explore the stunning visuals that tell the story of a unique celebration, showcasing the beauty of breaking away from tradition.

The Couple:

Abby and Aidan

The Wedding:

South Carolina, United States

Navigating the Logistics and Design for Creating the Perfect South Carolina Backyard Wedding

There were a lot of logistics to figure out in planning a backyard wedding, but we also knew that we had a relatively blank canvas design-wise. We wanted it to feel fun and energetic yet cozy and inviting. We wanted lots of string lights and candles but colors that felt like us. Disco balls were a must. Funky shapes and textures were important. We wanted little details that nodded to our family. Aidan’s family was very tight-knit growing up, and they gathered weekly for dinner. They called these weekly gatherings “pasta nights, ” and they were always a delight to attend together when we were dating and engaged. We decided to share this tradition with our guests and host a larger-format pasta night at our reception.

Why They Opted to Split Their Wedding Into Two Special Days

We split our ceremony and reception into two days so that we could slow down and enjoy the weekend on our own time and our own terms. We invited only our close family, bridesmaids, and groomsmen to the ceremony to make it more intimate and special. I have been to several weddings where you start getting ready at 7:00 AM and go all day until 10:00 PM. I knew myself and knew that I would not enjoy it as much if it was done this way. I’ve also heard from many friends who have gotten married that it goes by so fast you barely have time to eat or talk to your people, so we just wanted to slow it down and take it all in. I cannot recommend splitting your wedding into two days enough.

From Witness Roulette During the Ceremony to Beer Gardens After

The most memorable part of our ceremony day was when we took the boat for a joy ride after eating brunch with our closest family and friends. It was this moment of realization that we were married and had finally reached the day we put so much work in to arrive at. We also loved witness roulette and watching everyone’s reactions when we announced that we had put everyone into a drawing to sign our marriage license as our witness. Seeing everyone on their toes waiting to hear who it would be as the spinner turned was so funny to me. My aunt from out of town ended up being the winner. She was so excited to sign our marriage license. One last ceremony day memory that I loved. Since we did our ceremony Friday morning, we had all evening Friday night to do whatever we wanted. So we went with our bridesmaids and groomsmen to the place where we had our first date, a local Biergarten. It was so fun to relax and have a beer with our people while wearing our husband and wife sweatshirts out.

Celebrating the Fruits of Their Labor With a Dance Party

For the reception day, the most memorable part was the time we spent on the dance floor. We had all put in so much work, our families included, and it was so fun to finally let loose and celebrate the day that we had labored so hard to experience. Our family talked about that feeling for weeks after and even now. We could all agree that months of DIY projects and literal renovations that we did ourselves paid off, and we left it all on the dance floor. Watching videos and seeing pictures of us going crazy dancing is one of our favorite things nowadays.

Their DIY Projects: From Tables to Chandeliers

We DIYed almost everything. We hand-built all of the tables, the seating chart, the dance floor, and the gazebo. My Grammy sewed all of the table runners and did alterations to my dress. We sourced the candlesticks and vases from thrift stores all across the Upstate. Our family made insanely good home-cooked pasta dishes for dinner at the reception. We formed the candlesticks into funky shapes and put our Cricut to work, making all the signage. Including a sketch by Aidan’s amazing and talented sister, we designed our save the dates, which we later used as a wedding logo. We DIYed all the florals to meet a specific vision of dimension, color, and particular flowers I’d dreamed of in my bouquet for years. Aidan’s mom DIYed the floral arch used on the gazebo. We carefully constructed fringe chandeliers to hang over the dance floor. Our parents, siblings, cousins, and best friends showed up for us to make these DIY dreams happen. And that’s truly what we are the proudest of.

Navigating the Unseen Costs of Their South Carolina Backyard Wedding

We had assumed that a backyard wedding would be significantly cheaper, so we created our budget around that. But we were wrong! We didn’t think about the fact that venues offer so much and that we’d essentially have to rent a venue that would be transported to the backyard. Don’t let the rental stuff sneak up on you for a backyard wedding. You have to rent many things you don’t even think about, like linen trash can covers. We were naive when we made the first draft of our budget. We went over budget because we did not hire a wedding planner to tell us these things; we just figured it out ourselves. Even if you’re type A like me and want everything done a specific way, having a wedding planner will still benefit you. To be very transparent, we had initially said we’d try to stay under $10,000. Since we’d be DIYing everything and wouldn’t be paying for a venue. But we still spent around $20,000.

Their Splurges That Made Their South Carolina Backyard Wedding That Much More Special

The most significant change that occurred to exceed our budget was the clear top tent rental. We initially said we would not rent a tent, but it felt stupid to have no rain plan, so we spent a lot on a tent as a backup plan. But it ended up being beautiful weather, thankfully. I spent more on my wedding dress than I had initially budgeted for, but it was so worth it. We splurged on our photographer. We also added a photo booth, a mobile bartending service for the reception, and a mobile coffee bar for the ceremony. Initially, we hadn’t planned on videography, so we splurged on our videographer.

The Budget-Friendly Solutions They Incorporated

Since we wanted our family to recreate our pasta night that we convene for every week, we saved a lot of money on a caterer (though I wouldn’t recommend this since it was a lot of hard work for our family). Since we bought them wholesale, we saved money on florals. We saved money by renting my reception outfit through Nuuly. Another thing we overspent on was the table situation. We knew renting tables would be expensive and that building our own would be similar. But we figured we could sell them afterward. The most remarkable thing about the tables is that we sold them all to our family and close friends. A piece of our wedding is now part of their homes and lives. My boss took four of them for her new therapy clinic that I’ll work at as well. And it’s been so cool to see them in action there.

How Mini Disco Balls Became Unique Escort Cards

Wedding favors were part of our escort cards and seating chart. We had 130 little disco balls hanging with tags that indicated the table number where our guests would sit. Guests have sent me pictures of their mini disco balls in various places. Some on their Christmas tree, some hanging from their car’s rearview mirror. It felt like a touch of our day that people could take with them.

The Undeniable Value of Hiring a Wedding Planner

Splurge and hire a wedding planner. Everyone told us this. We thought we could do it all on our own because we were so specific on how we wanted everything done. But I’m so serious—no matter what, hire a wedding planner. It’s worth the time, energy, stress, etc. If you think it’s outside your budget, make room! And most of all, trust that your day will be perfect and memorable if you let it be. I was so stressed out for a while about the wedding and all the projects we had, but my best friend kept telling me that what helped ease my stress was that the point of it all was to get married. At the end of it all, we would be together forever, and that was all that mattered. It sounds so simple, but it greatly impacted how we viewed our wedding.

This Matanuska Glacier Wedding Featured Two Stunning Ceremonies

January 28, 2024 | justine

Laura and Jordan aimed to make every aspect of their big day a reflection of who they are as a couple and the breathtaking place they call home.  The goal of their Matanuska Glacier wedding was clear: to capture the essence of Alaska in an elegant, romantic, and timeless manner, whether through the glacier, helicopter ride, airplane hangar, flowers, dress, or any other detail. With the help of Junebug planner AKHappenings, they achieved their vision and surpassed it with flying colors!

The day started with a delightful surprise—an intimate glacier ceremony surrounded by snowy white landscapes adorned with ground arrangements. It set the perfect tone for the day. The journey continued with a second meadow ceremony, where a floral arch framed the majestic mountain backdrop, and benches provided a cozy spot for the celebration. The all-white hangar reception stole the spotlight, showcasing a stunning floral and draping installation. However, the night’s highlight was the all-out dance party that lasted until the early hours. Colorful wigs and LED foam sticks added excitement, making it a memorable celebration.

While we could share more details, we’ll let these incredible images, captured by the talented Megan Freeman, do the talking.

Laura and Jordan

The Wedding:

Matanuska Glacier, Alaska, United States

Bridging Tradition and Personal Style Through Wedding Fashion

I had a vision from the start. I wanted options. But I wanted to buy only one dress. Something romantic yet flowy and sexy. I love sleeves but wanted the ability to take them off.  And a fitted and flowy skirt.  I tried to make all my wedding memories in one dress. My vision was a fitted dress with a detachable skirt and sleeves. I needed a dress that fit the “Alaskan” adventure bride I was going for yet had my favorite aspects in a dress. My jewelry was a classic pearl set of earrings and a necklace my father gave my mother on their wedding day. It was only fitting to wear them on our wedding day.

Starting Their Matanuska Glacier Wedding Day With a Surprise First Look

Laura: Walking up to Jordan for our first look at Matanuska Glacier was my most memorable moment. I hadn’t told him nor showed him my dress. It was one of the hardest things not to share with him through the wedding planning process. It was custom that took many fittings and was ready at 11:30 pm the night before the wedding and it felt like a major weight was finally lifted. We were finally doing it, and it was very real.
Jordan: My most memorable moment was when we had our first look, and I saw Laura for the first time in her gorgeous dress. It was a surreal moment, and it all finally came together at that moment. We also shared our vows before our wedding party while standing on the glacier with the most fantastic backdrop imaginable.

Letting Loose on the Dance Floor and Surprises During Their Matanuska Glacier Wedding Reception

Laura: I loved cutting loose with our people on the dance floor, busting out all the props, and kicking off the fun night we have waited six years for. We also snuck away to sign our marriage certificate on the tail of Jordan’s airplane.
Jordan: Dancing and partying the night away with our closest people was unforgettable. We were so skeptical about the wigs at first, but they were one of the funniest and best parts of the day. We also accidentally cut ourselves while attempting to cut our ice cream wedding cake, too.

Advice: Focus on the Marriage Over the Wedding

Never lose sight of the fact that the marriage, not the wedding, is the reason behind your big day. Decision fatigue is a real thing. Take it easy on yourself and always lean into your partner, because it’s your partner and you at the end of the day. Never lose sight of the fact that anything is possible to achieve as a team. Also, this process will teach you so much about each other, family, and friends. The people who care for and love you will show up. Try to hold space, be patient, and know it takes work. It’ll be worth it.

Choosing a Venue With Future Ties and a Personal Connection

We chose our wedding venue for a couple of reasons. For one, it’s in the neighborhood where we will soon build our “forever home.” We wanted to share a part of our future with the people closest to us. Additionally, the airplane hanger is owned by our good friends, and Jordan helped them build it a couple of summers back. They were both members of our wedding party! The insane view was hard to pass up, as well as the ability to let the party go on as late as we wanted.

Photobooth Polaroids and Koozies as Thoughtful Keepsakes for Their Matanuska Glacier Wedding

We ensured that we provided a fun photo booth for our guests to cut loose and have fun and take a memory to keep after. The koozies are a nod to the Wallace family. They have the most extensive koozie collection, so it was only fitting for all guests to take a piece of our wedding home. We opted to ensure that they kept in theme with the rest of the wedding and were not overly done with our names or wedding details.

Custom Cricut Wedding Invites and Personalized Wedding Signage

Special shout out to one of my bridesmaids, Emily Holman. She is a saint for hearing my vision and making it a reality for me. I will forever be in debt to her patience and efforts to ensure my vision came to life. The first significant project was our custom Cricut wedding invites that feature cutouts of the two of us and our two Australian Shepherds, the background of mountains that double as the information cards. We then wrapped the invite and wax sealed them shut with a custom wax seal. All envelopes were addressed with the Cricut. This project was a LOT and so worth it. They were 100% us and truly fit our wedding vibe. All the signage for the wedding: welcome sign, seating chart, bar menu sign, audible guest book, table numbers, thank you note from us to our guests, instructions for our online wedding photo album, disposable camera instructions signs, custom menu for the evening with wax sealed names for each guest, was a labor of love.

Handcrafted Birch Log Benches and Budget-Friendly Touches

Jordan wanted to contribute to the wedding with his skilled craft and built us a custom rolling bar from which the bartender served drinks. In addition, he made the wedding sign stands and birch log benches for the ceremony, which we later used for seats around the fire, as well as the frame for the arch. We rented some more oversized items (tables, chairs, linens, outdoor tent), but otherwise, we bought most of our plates, cups, silverware, cookware, candles, vases, etc. It ended up being less expensive at the end of the day. We didn’t have to rush to get them cleaned for pickup the next day. We also borrowed several outdoor decor pieces from friends, such as fire pits, outdoor furniture, and propane heaters.

A Floral Labor of Love by the Bride’s Mom

My mother, Colleen, did all the florals for our wedding with one of her lifelong best friends, Gail Gibson. They have done florals together for forty-plus years and truly knocked it out of the park. As we referenced throughout the wedding planning, this was “Colleen’s Super Bowl.” If you ask us, they knocked it out of the park by going above and beyond. Our wedding party and I did all the decor inside and outside the hangar, and then Colleen did the finishing touches with flowers.

A Homemade Wedding Spread Put Together by Their Loved Ones

Catering was done with our very close friends, Kevin and Kimberly Burgess, along with a core group of close friends that we consider a part of our Alaska family. We shopped for all food items in advance from Costco. They set up a cooking tent at the hangar and prepped and cooked all the food on site. Shout out to Jaclyn Hernandez–she put together the most beautiful charcuterie board, even creating a meat “W” to honor our last name. It was incredible. For dessert, we had close friends make brownies and cookies.

Personalized Wedding Beer at Their Matanuska Glacier Wedding

Through a friend, we connected with a local beer enthusiast. Jason was so fun to chat and connect about learning the types of beer we liked. He took our flavor pallets and created the two most fantastic wedding beers to serve at the wedding. It was even entered into the state fair and won several categories. We are savoring the last few bottles. Incredible, and it was less expensive than getting a local craft beer option. Jason even bartended for us at the wedding, which was also excellent.

This Euridge Manor Wedding is A Color Lover’s Dream Come True

January 13, 2024 | justine

Bhuwan, from India, and Yutong, from China, first crossed paths while in the UK. Dreaming of a European-style wedding, they knew this special place had to be their “I do” location. Their wedding planner, Valentina from The Stars Inside, worked magic, helping them shape the perfect wedding vision. With a fantastic team in tow, they meticulously planned every detail, and voila! Their Euridge Manor wedding was a burst of colors, blooms, and personality. What’s more, they pulled off this impressive feat in less than two months!

Picture a stunning boathouse ceremony with an altar decked out in floral pillars, offering a breathtaking view of the water. After the couple exchanged heartfelt vows, the magic continued with a garden reception that was equally as enchanting. Imagine tables adorned with vibrant blooms, delicate linens, and elegant settings, creating a feast for the eyes. To add a touch of sophistication, an outdoor chandelier hung overhead, completing the picture-perfect scene.

As much as we’d love to keep gushing about this extraordinary event, we’ll let the incredible photos captured by Rebecca Carpenter do the talking. From the sweet first look to the charming boat portraits and all the beautiful moments in between, this celebration is truly a must-see.

The Couple:

Yutong and Bhuwan

The Wedding:

Euridge Manor, United Kingdom

Discovering the Dream Dress a Week Before the Wedding

I found my wedding dress in China just a week before the big day! I wanted something with some Chinese elements but not so much that it would look out of place in the British countryside. The feather cape was the perfect touch. It looked unique and elegant. I was very happy when I found it after trying on many other dresses.

Surreal Moments: Walking Down the Aisle and Bhuwan’s Emotional Reaction

The ceremony was definitely the highlight of the day. When the music started and it was my turn to walk down the aisle, it felt so surreal. I especially loved the few minutes when I walked down those stairs and saw Bhuwan and our family members all standing in the boathouse, looking so beautiful. Bhuwan’s special moment was right after the ceremony when we walked out of the boathouse, and our musicians started playing “Married Life” from “Up.” Our fantastic photographer captured the moment he teared up and wiped his eyes.

Pulling Off Their Dream Euridge Manor Wedding In Less Than Two Months

We planned our wedding in less than two months! I got my dress one week before the wedding and our wedding ring just two days before the big day. We were lucky that our top-pick venue and many top-pick vendors were available. Our wedding planner did the magic for us to bring everything together in a very short period. When we first saw her website, we were instantly smitten with her style. She clearly cared about her couples, so we knew we were in good hands. She helped us find all the best vendors, put thought into every little detail, and delivered a wedding that was even better than we imagined. Since colorful flowers were something I wanted, she helped us find florists who could provide them. Picking the florist set the tone for the wedding. Our venue was dry hire, so Valentina helped us pick unique furniture, plates, and utensils to complete the look. She also helped us pick live music performances that took the feel to another level.

Navigating Expenses Without A Concrete Budget

We only had a vague idea of how much we wanted to spend on our wedding, and we didn’t create a clear budget initially. We ended up spending way more than we thought we would. We absolutely loved our wedding in the end, but if we had to do it again, we would start with a clearer budget. Flowers were our most significant expense. Having lots of colorful flowers was one of the few things I wanted from the start. We didn’t realize how much they would cost. But was it worth it? Absolutely! The flowers our florist put together were stunning and a defining element of our wedding.

Making Their Loved Ones Feel at Home was Top Priority

It was essential to us that our family members have a great day. We only had our parents and my sister at the wedding, and both sides of the family traveled from Asia to be there. We wanted to ensure they felt comfortable and at ease the whole time. We put “dad,” “mom,” and “little sister” in Chinese for my family and Hindi for Bhuwan’s family on the name cards instead of their names. It was a nice gesture to make our families feel more at home.

This Couple Brought Burning Man to Their Colorado Backyard Wedding

January 8, 2024 | justine

Julie and Zane turned their log house in the mountain forest into a magical wonderland for their wedding. Embracing their love for Burning Man’s whimsical and enchanting atmosphere, they chose the fitting theme of “Funky Forest” for their special day right in their own backyard. The guests added to the charm with their whimsical attire, while the handmade animal sculptures and surprise llama visitors made the Colorado backyard wedding truly one-of-a-kind.

The couple turned the forest into a magical venue space with rainbow arches, a floating umbrella installation, and a serpentine tablescape adorned with shimmering iridescent confetti. As the sun set, the evening came alive with a spectacular light show illuminating the dance floor, where guests joined the pair, dancing the night away.

Curious to witness the magical transformation of Burning Man vibes into a wedding wonderland? Don’t miss out on how Julie and Zane turned their passion into a celebration. Thanks to From the Daisies, every funky detail has been beautifully captured for all of us to savor. Keep scrolling for a visual feast of whimsy and joy!

The Couple:

Julie and Zane

The Wedding:

Colorado, United States

Festival-Inspired Fashion and Makeup

My good friend from college made my dress and glitter cape. She studied fashion and is also a Burner. She has made countless costumes for me in the past (even matching a couple’s outfits for Zane and me) and really understood the assignment. Beauty-wise, I was decisive about needing glitter and rhinestones. Our wedding planner again found a burner-esque makeup artist who understood the assignment. Everyone had glitter and rhinestones, including all the dads, brothers, etc. It was magical.

How Burning Man Inspired Their Colorado Backyard Wedding

We live in a log house in a beautiful woodsy forest on the mountains. So we went with the theme “Funky Forest” and had the wedding at our home. We are longtime Burners (people who attend Burning Man) and wanted to bring that whimsical and magical feel to our event. From the guests’ whimsical formal attire to our crafted animal sculptures to our llama visitors, the wedding was everything we hoped for and more! We are also makers. I’m a designer, and my husband is a software engineer, and together, we brought the art pieces to life.

A Funky Forest Wedding Extravaganza That Was Interactive For Their Guests

Every guest received a jackalope, bear, or fox badge specially programmed with their name. As they approached the corresponding animal sculpture, a unique and interactive experience awaited them. For example, when Guest 1 approached the giant bear, it playfully blew bubbles and bathed in a radiant purple glow. Guest 2 encountered the fox, setting off the fog machine and casting a warm yellow glow. Guest 3 discovered the jackalope nestled in the disco ball forest, treating them to a delightful serenade amid a soothing blue light. The brilliance of the LED lights on the animal sculptures responded to the colors on the guests’ badges. Amidst these enchanting interactions, the celebration featured a variety of activities, including decorating sparkly crocs in a dazzling dome with handmade charms, engaging in an audio guest book experience within a greenhouse adorned in rainbow reflecting film, trying their hand at ax throwing, participating in a giant moose color-by-numbers station, and exploring a family art gallery. The highlight was witnessing the joy brought by Bubble Bear, a gigantic 3D-printed sculpture of a bear that blew bubbles overhead.

Wedding Advice: Embrace the Uniqueness of Your Day

Do whatever you want. It’s your day. I often wanted to ask other people, “Is this normal?” or “Is this crazy?” to try and tone our ideas into a socially “acceptable'” shape. We aren’t normal. And we are crazy. So I’m glad at some point, we just let the wedding be super funky and creative regardless of worries of outside judgment. Our guests followed us down that path once we were confident, too. My dad walked me down the aisle with rhinestones on his face. It was everything.

The Artistic Afterlife of Their Colorado Backyard Wedding Creations

Our gigantic bubble bear and Foggy Fox sculptures now live in Spectra’s immersive gallery in Denver for everyone to enjoy! Making these more extensive interactive installations lit a spark for us. Now we spend much of our time thinking of new art pieces to build for various events. We had this fantastic fabrication/artist company called Dark Moon Designs (another impeccable find by our planner) build a multi-piece giant rainbow flower portal through the forest to walk to the ceremony spot. It now lives in our backyard forever. We see it out our bedroom window when we wake up, and nothing makes us happier.

Cost-Effective Thrifted Treasures

Since our wedding was at our house, we were able to cut spending on furniture rentals. We bought all these cute vintage chairs and couches on Facebook Marketplace or from thrift stores on the cheap rather than renting. Furniture rentals get super pricey super fast. We have done a lot of remodeling to our home to make it unique, so it’s very special to us. We have a giant circle window, a geodome, and a greenhouse all in the forest. It also allowed us the time and space to set up the sculptures and other activities. You only have 24 hours in most venues, so you can’t decorate to the extent we did.

Glitter Crocs, Furry Geo Dome, and DIY Touches at Their Colorado Backyard Wedding

We gave everyone glitter Crocs. They have become a staple to us here in Colorado. And what’s fun about Crocs is you can decorate them to be your own. We had disco balls, pom poms, laser-cut bananas, happy faces, and various charms for people to have a little craft project while relaxing in the geodome. Did I mention we covered the inside of our geodome walls with fur? The invites, save the dates, thank you cards, and all the signage we designed and made. I’m a graphic designer, so we had a specific look I was trying to achieve.

Earthy Arcadia Hidden Arches Wedding With Dia De Los Muertos Touches

December 8, 2023 | justine

Gina and Christopher dreamed of a wedding that would capture the essence of their unique personalities and special bond. They wanted a  one-of-a-kind celebration that showcased their love but also included the cherished people in their lives. This desire inspired them to infuse elements of their love story into the very fabric of their Arcadia Hidden Arches wedding. To pay homage to their loved ones and cultural roots, they incorporated touches of Dia de los Muertos, adding a meaningful and personal touch to their special day.

Their special day aligns with one of the two important Dia De Los Muertos celebrations. Even though this time is usually known for bright oranges and lively colors, the couple opted for earthy tones inspired by nature and their heritage. They carefully included wood, clay, stone, metal, glass, and marigolds in their decor and around the venue. A touching moment unfolded with the ofrenda, a beautifully adorned altar. This became a deeply emotional experience as they honored and included their beloved family members who were no longer with them on this important day.

From the captivating full skeleton makeup to their stunning attire, we’re absolutely in love with it all! Each moment marked a genuine celebration of love and life, and Beatatum Photography brilliantly captured every intricate detail. Keep scrolling to learn about their journey and discover unique ideas to add a personal touch to your big day.

A Dia De Los Muertos Tribute of Marigolds at Their Arcadia Hidden Arches Wedding

At our Arcadia Hidden Arches wedding, we embraced Dia De Los Muertos traditions with marigolds, known as cempasúchil, featured throughout. A stunning display of floating marigold blossoms adorned a long pool behind our ofrenda. Our choice of flowers, a mix of preserved and fresh blooms, symbolized the beautiful fusion of the living and departed. Despite our jungle setting, we aimed for an elevated experience using lace and silk materials, seamlessly blending with our celebration’s natural and bohemian essence. The result? A cohesive wedding that paid homage to tradition and celebrated our deep connection to nature and heritage.

A Heartfelt and Beautiful Ofrenda Honoring Departed Loved Ones

The most memorable part of our big day was when we stood before our ofrenda, trying not to cry. It was an emotional experience to remember and include all our beloved family members who couldn’t be with us on this important day. In case you’re unfamiliar, an ofrenda is a beautifully decorated altar with pictures, food, flowers, toys, and other meaningful items. These things are meant to welcome back the spirits of our loved ones once a year so we can celebrate their lives. To make it even more incredible, we asked guests to bring pictures of their loved ones for our ofrenda. It was heartwarming to see our guests approach the altar, share stories, laughter, and tears, and celebrate the beautiful lives of those they cared about.

Fun Wedding Planning Advice

Turn wedding planning into a party that plays to your strengths! Sure, it can be a crazy whirlwind of decisions and details, but finding joy is necessary. Here’s a tip that worked wonders for us: create your own charming tradition! We made the months leading up to our November 1st wedding extra special with a monthly wedding countdown date night. Picture this—dining out, reviewing our planning wins, and sharing some good laughs about the never-ending to-do list. It was like our secret recipe for turning wedding stress into shared excitement and love. So, go ahead and make planning a blast!

Crafting Wedding Magic: The Pride in Finer Details

What I love most about my wedding is the little things that make it unique. I’m all about paying attention to details; for me, these details were fun and meaningful. Using my background in landscape architecture, where spaces are designed to create specific feelings, I treated every part of our wedding like a unique and immersive experience. For example, during dinner, we paid attention to things like how tall the flowers were on the tables so that guests could see and talk easily. We also ensured the tables weren’t too crowded since we served family-style. We hung flowers from above in some places, making cool backgrounds for photos and beautiful focal points. Another noteworthy thing was that our wedding happened on my godmother’s birthday. We took a moment to sing “Happy Birthday” and surprised her with a cake, adding even more love and celebration to our unforgettable day.

Elegance in Tulum: Chic Getting Ready at the Bardo Hotel

Choosing the Bardo Hotel in Tulum for our getting-ready spot was like stepping into a fancy Architectural Digest magazine. It was elegant and matched the natural and bohemian style we wanted. The groomsmen’s outfits had some cool details, too. They rocked leather suspenders with their last names engraved, and their socks had cute sugar skull designs. Even the getting-ready shirts had cards from the Mexican game “Loteria,” making a special connection to my husband’s heritage. Every choice we made had a lot of thought and meaning behind it.

A Wedding That’s More Than Just A Day

When planning our wedding, our top priority was creating an unforgettable experience for our loved ones. We recognized that asking people to take time off work and travel to a different country for our wedding was a big request. We were determined to do more than plan a “wedding.” We aimed to design a remarkable “event” to leave everyone with lifelong memories. We extended our focus beyond the wedding day and meticulously researched a resort that would cater to the diverse interests of our guests during their entire trip.

Personalizing Their Vows and Sand Ceremony

We personalized our ceremony by inviting our family and friends to witness our marriage without prior paperwork or licenses. We wanted this to be a uniquely special moment for everyone who tried to join us. Leading up to our ceremony, we had to undergo a series of medical tests, which meant flying out three business days before our wedding to meet the legal requirements for marriage in Mexico. During the ceremony, we incorporated a sand ceremony. While this is a common ritual, it held great significance for us as we’ve been collecting sand and rocks (peep the geode ring boxes) from around the world. As a chemical engineer, my husband gifted me with test tubes to store our sand from our travels, and I must admit, this addition from the wedding has become my favorite!

Making Every Guest Feel Special at Their Arcadia Hidden Arches Wedding Reception

At the reception, my husband delivered a very personal speech. He included everyone who attended our wedding, sharing heartwarming stories about them and their connection to us. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture that left a lasting impact. Nearly everyone at the wedding expressed how loved and appreciated they felt as part of his speech, making it a genuinely touching moment in the evening.

Skipping Favors with Sugar Skulls and Beach Photos

We chose to skip physical favors for our guests. Instead, we brought our makeup artist and her team, back to our event to paint traditional sugar skulls on our faces, allowing us to fully embrace Mexican culture and celebrate the Dia de los Muertos. In a fun twist, I offered my bridesmaids a unique gift. Rather than traditional gifts, I surprised them with a beach photo session with our photographers, an opportunity to capture special moments with their significant others. Since all of my bridesmaids were planning to get married within the next two years, it felt like the perfect way to celebrate their love. Some of these photos even made their way into engagement announcements!

The key takeaway from their big day is the importance of infusing personal touches into your wedding to create a truly unique and memorable experience. Classically Romantic and Neutral Mason Wedding

November 30, 2023 | justine

As Kira and Joe started planning their special day, they aimed to make it a close and meaningful occasion for their loved ones. They focused on details like seating and food to encourage conversation and connection. The outcome? A deeply personal and romantic Mason wedding that authentically celebrated their love and prioritized what’s important to them.

Transported by the grand old-world and Victorian Maximalist charm, the couple found the perfect backdrop for their “I dos.” The Mason Dallas was an ideal venue option with stunning existing features and natural beauty. To add a pop of personality, they discovered that strategically placing florals and lighting up the space with lots of candles was all it took to add an extra touch of romance.

With a guest list of 67 of their nearest and dearest, they had the freedom to bring their dream wedding to reality. To discover the distinctive and creative ways they brought it all together, just keep scrolling. These captivating images by Junebug member Leitzinger Co. beautifully narrate the entire story.

The Couple:

Kira and Joe

The Wedding:

The Mason, Texas, United States

How They Brought Their Mason WeddingTo Life

We selected The Mason in Dallas, TX, as our venue, a stunning historic building with Victorian maximalist vibes. We wanted the venue to shine and bring in romantic elements to set the tone. We selected soft neutrals for linens and florals and drenched the room in candlelight.

Choosing Inclusive Seating

The people who supported us on this day mean the world to us. We wanted to encourage connection, conversation, and love. We selected inclusive seating done in a U-shape. This helped set the tone for intimacy and gave a beautiful visual queue of our communities coming together to celebrate and support our commitment to each other.

Heartfelt Thanks: Handwritten Notes on Each Plate

A successful relationship requires more than two people putting in the work. It’s created to support those who have raised you, been a shoulder to cry on through prior failed relationships, celebrated you on significant life milestones, and helped shape you into who you are today. We wanted each guest to know how thankful we are for them and how they have supported us in our journey to each other. We opted for handwritten notes on each guest’s plate instead of simple name cards. I am proud of the handwritten notes! They took a lot of time and emotional energy, but watching our guests read them was incredible.

Beyond Catering: Choosing Personal Connection and Meaningful Dining

Food was important to us, and instead of selecting a traditional caterer, we opted to enlist the help of a restaurant that holds a lot of meaning for us, Mot Hai Ba. Mot Hai Ba is our favorite place in our neighborhood. We worked with Chef Peja to select our favorite dishes that we have had over the years and on many of our dates. We chose a family-style serving method to compliment our inclusive seating, driving home that we are one community and family coming together to celebrate love.

Opting for New Orleans Jazz Vibes for Their Mason Wedding

We wanted to opt for more unique music, so we selected the Revelers Hall Band, which plays New Orleans-style jazz. They played anything from originals to covers. They are local to the area where our venue was located, and it brought so much energy.

Reflections on Wedding Planning: Embrace the Journey and Trust Your Instincts

It sounds cliche, but wedding planning can be stressful. Reflecting on the process now that it is complete, the best advice I can give to myself or future brides would be to try to enjoy the process as much as possible and trust your gut instinct. We set an initial budget of $40,000, but all said and done, it came closer to $70,000. A big splurge for us was the food and alcohol, but we have no regrets! My advice to new brides would be to spend the time to get to know your vendors to understand how they view their craft and if your visions align.
