Naturally Beautiful Wedding Makeup from Lynn’s Makeup Art

Here at Junebug, we love all things wedding makeup related. From the pretty, pristine packaging, to the way it can transform and enhance your look, we adore it all. So, we asked makeup genius and super-talented Junebug member, Lynn Switzky from Lynn’s Makeup Art, to tell us how to get a clean, romantic and natural look for your wedding day. Using one of her recent brides, Hailey, as the perfect example, Lynn gave us all the details…

The Idea: This look is great on any bride. Hailey was going for a soft romantic look for her wedding day. She doesn’t wear a lot of make-up on a day-to-day basis, so she wanted to look polished but not too dramatic. If a bride is looking for something subtle that will showcase her natural beauty, it’s always best to stick with earth tones. You can’t go wrong with them because they look great on everybody! Golds and champagnes are wonderful too because they add just enough light and shimmer to make the bride’s wedding makeup sparkle.

The Eyes: We wanted to emphasize her eyes, so we went for a soft smoky eye; which I sometimes call a daytime smoky eye – not too dark and not too light, but a wash of a medium shade all over the lid. We used a beautiful bronze from MAC called Tempting, all over her lid and blended it out with soft brown shadow, also by MAC, called Soba. To add a soft shimmering highlight on her brow bone, we used MAC’s Ricepaper. For a less dramatic look, we lined her eyes top and bottom with a dark brown eyeliner from MAC, called Teddy. It’s a beautiful dark brown with a bronze shimmer to add a little more light and emphasis on the eyes. I love to use metallic eye liners because they add so much light to the eye that the the eye color really pops. I curled her lashes, and of course, only applied waterproof mascara. It’s a must for the wedding day! It’s also a pro secret: only waterproof mascara will hold the curl! If you try regular mascara the lashes will just fall back to normal. We used a denser false lash for tiny bit of extra drama. They were thick from base to tip, and flared longer at the outer corners. For a more natural look, use wispier lashes that are thinner at the tips.

The Face: I think keeping the skin as natural looking as possible really allows the bride to shine, not the make-up. I love using Youngblood Mineral Radiance Moisture Tints for subtle coverage, and Chanel Teint Innocence for a little extra coverage and a dewy finish.  Always set with powder, like Youngblood Hi-Definition Powder to ensure the make-up lasts all day.

The Cheeks: I love using peachy-pink tones on the cheeks for a rosy and natural look. Sometimes pinks look a little too “doll” like, and peaches and corals can look beachy, so look for shades that are a mix of both pink and peach. To bring out the shape of your cheekbones, contour the cheeks with a bronzer, and highlight the top of the cheeks with a light shimmer powder, then apply the blush to the apples of the cheeks. This technique will give you a beautiful rosy glow and bring out your bone structure in photos.

The Lips: Longevity is key for weddings, so I like to use a natural pink liner and fill in the entire lip, then I used a soft nude/pink gloss, like Love Nectar from MAC. Most of my brides want something sheer, soft and comfortable to wear on their wedding day, so they usually wear gloss. Lip gloss is also easy to re-apply throughout the wedding.

Bridal Makeup Picks from Margaret Dybash of Poppy Artistry

May 18, 2010 | editorial team

candy colored bridesmaid makeup by Poppy Artistry

Every woman wants to look her best on her wedding day, and choosing great makeup can be a hugely helpful part of that. One of our amazingly talented Junebug members, Margaret Dybash of Poppy Artistry, is a pro at making brides look bright, beautiful, glowing and like the very best versions of themselves. Having worked with Margaret on many photo shoots in the past (like the Candy Coated Color Fashion Report shown above) we have witnessed her stunning looks and wealth of beauty knowledge firsthand, and today we asked her for a little expert insider information on the best beauty products out there. Check out her favorite makeup picks for your big day below!

bridal makeup favorite beauty products

From makeup pro Margaret Dybash:

For the Face: I love Stila’s One Step Foundation. It primes, color-neutralizes, and sets itself – no need for powder! It wears for about eight hours, so it will take you from pre-ceremony photographs to the dance floor without needing a touch up. All this, while still feeling as light as air. It is truly a miracle product!

For Cheeks: For a powder blush, I would choose Nars’ Orgasm. There is a reason it’s famous! For a cream blush option, I love Stila’s Convertible Color. Covertible Color is also a great honeymoon product because it travels well. I take it with me wherever I go.

For the Eyes: Smashbox Bionic Mascara is amazing. The brush separates and coats the lashes with the perfect amount of mascara. Not too much, not too little. It is also water resistant for teary moments, but not dry and flakey like some waterproof mascara can be. For eyeshadows that stay put, I love Stila. There are tons of colors to choose from and they can be applied wet or dry. A wet application makes the colors more intense, prevents messy sprinkling, and allows the shadow to stay on all day and all night, without the use of a lid primer. If you want to add a little extra “oomph” to your eyes, individual flash eyelashes are fantastic. Using individual lashes allows you to add a little at a time until you are satisfied with the effect.

For the Lips: I love a bold color on the lips, but many brides prefer a more natural look. Either way, try Nars’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil or Stila’s Long Wear Lip Color. Both these options last through many kisses, smiles and sips of champagne. Both options also offer an array of colors from the nudest nude to a deep berry. For added shine, layer with Stila Lip Glaze or Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in a coordinating color.

For Nails: You can’t get more classic than OPI Red, and it’s really pretty on a short nail. If color isn’t your style, choose a soft pink or nude and save the pop of color for your toes. Try Otherwise Engaged, Samoan Sand or Bubble Bath by OPI.

Other Must-Haves: Brides with normal to oily skin should have blotting papers on hand to help with mid-day shine. Also, if you are wearing flash eyelashes, especially if you a choose a full fan, have a tube of lash glue and tweezers handy. Last but certainly not least, a definite must-have is friends who will tell you the truth! Lipstick on your teeth or a floppy false eyelash is no laughing matter when you’re standing in front of 150 people.

Bridal Makeup from Junebug’s Fashion Report

April 4, 2008 | editorial team

The bridal hair and makeup looks from our new French Fashion Report are simply spectacular, so I asked Erin Skipley, makeup artist extraordinaire, to tell us all about her inspirations, techniques and favorite products used during the shoot.

Soft and Pink
The inspiration for this look was fresh and youthful, like a young princess. On her eyes I used a taupe and soft bronze shadow, and MAC Fluidline for the eyeliner. Fluidline is great because it’s waterproof when it sets, and it will last all day without migrating. To keep lots of light around her eyes and to get rid of discoloration I used Dior SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pen. For cheeks I used BECCA Beach Tint lip/cheek stain in watermelon, and a soft nude lip pencil and a coat of MAC Lipglass for her lips.

Classic Glamour
“The inspiration for this makeup and hair came from the classic fairytale glamour of Snow White. The Elizabeth dress was so stately and elegant that the hair and makeup needed to be strong.  On her eyes is a Nars Duo Shadow in Subaraya, MAC Shadow in Carbon and a touch of matte cream color shadow as a highlight her brow bone. All of these are highly pigmented so you have to be careful. On her cheeks, I used Laura Mercier Face Tint in Apricot and on her lips I used MAC Lip Pencil in Mahogany with a Dior Addict Lipstick in Abyss Red.”

Smokey Black Bridal
“Our inspiration was gothic Lolita- soft and pretty, but dark and a-typical. Black bridal is so cool!! As dark as her eyes are they don’t look severe. On Amanda’s eyes, I used a MAC Eye Pencil in Smolder (best used as a base for smoky eyes, and in the water-line). I also used a highlight of turquoise shadow, a deep navy shadow over the bottom liner, and a matte cream shadow to soften, and as a highlight on her eyelids and brow bones. Brows were lightly filled in with a MAC Eye Brow Pencil in Fling. On her cheeks, I used a Laura Mercier Cheek Colour called Orange Blossom and a touch of MAC Bronzing Powder in Golden Bronze. On her lips was simply lip balm, and a light coat of LORAC Sheer Wash Lip Stain in Sheer Bronze.

Thanks Erin! Amazing job! For more of Erin’s work check out her website, and Junebug’s Vintage Fashion for a Modern Bride and Girls’ Night Out Fashion Reports.

Spring Makeup and Pampering Pick-me-ups

February 20, 2008 | editorial team

Up popped an e-mail in my inbox last night from Beauty.com. A newsletter exclusive luring me with an offer of free mascara (always a sure fire way to win me over!) to peruse the lovely new products on their site. Suddenly I saw clear visions of the state of my bathroom cabinet; my sad old blush compact with only a scrap of pink left in the palette, my beloved night time moisturizer that’s dangerously close to the bottom of the jar, my empty tube of mascara that I’ve been trying to convince myself is not quite empty. I just had to click. I just had to have some fresh new products to carry me through these last weeks of winter and get me excited for sunny, lovely, energy renewing spring.

Here are the items I dreamed of last night, and that I will be awaiting in the mail with glee…

Philosophy Microdelivery Peel Treatment Wash
I love a face wash that washes makeup clean away and gently exfoliates at the same time. You can use this with Philosophy’s Microdelivery Exfoliating Cloths for extra smooth results.

DuWop Doubleglow7 Luminous Face Balm
Made with loads of vitamins, this could be a great light concealor or tinted moisturizer alternative. They say it gives “instant radiance and clarity to the skin”. Sign me up!

NARS The Multiple Multi-Purpose Stick in Orgasm
I can’t wait to try this creamy version of Nars’ best selling powder blush color, Orgasm. It’s a peachy pink with a hint of sparkle that looks great on everyone, and that I personally L-O-V-E. (Remember the barely alive blush compact I mentioned earlier? This is it!)

Tarte Lip Balm Slide Tin in Mouth Off
This time of year I’m a lip balm addict and am never, ever without one lovely lip product or another. This Tarte lip balm tin makes me so happy with it’s old-school shape that reminds me of middle school, and I love that it has both a glossy pink color and skin nourishing ingredients.

Now I’m inspired to do all sorts of energy renewing activities- clean out my closet, scrub my apartment clean, buy extra fresh foods at the local farmers market, play outside the next time the sun in shining. With all of the busy wedding planning you’re doing, do you need a pick me up before spring? Tell us what you love to do to stay feeling great!

This Austin Black Tie Wedding Was a Spicy Margarita Brought to Life

May 9, 2025 | justine

How do you turn a love story built during emergency room shifts into an unforgettable destination wedding? For Alexa and Kole, the answer was simple: transport everyone to a “Cabo Discoteca” right in the heart of Texas. Their Prospect House wedding mixed black-tie style with tropical plants, desert touches, disco balls, and nonstop good vibes—a reflection of their friendship-turned-forever-love.

What We Love About This Austin Black Tie Wedding:

  • The couple’s inspiration: margaritas (the drink that started it all)
  • Booking their dream venue even before getting officially engaged
  • Their sentimental wine box ceremony with a bottle from a special memory in France
  • Fun extras like a live cigar roller, espresso bar, and quirky medical puns woven throughout
  • A surprise drag queen performance that set the party energy through the roof

Alexa and Kole were friends for years before their relationship turned romantic. Working side-by-side in emergency medicine during a pandemic brought challenges, but also comfort and a deep bond. Spontaneous day trips to Nantucket, random Thursday dinners, and post-overnight beach outings built their friendship into something more. At a costume party, where Kole dressed as an astronaut and spicy margaritas flowed, Alexa made the first move. They’ve been inseparable since. “We both sort of realized this was a forever thing fairly quickly. It felt like a deep love from the beginning, a best-friendship.”

They envisioned a “Cabo Discoteca” for their Austin black tie wedding—a Mexican disco party with a modern Texas and Marfa twist. The color palette stayed clean and modern. Black and white with unexpected pops of tropical greens, desert plants, and citrus. Prospect House, with its modern architecture and indoor-outdoor spaces, was the perfect backdrop. So much so that they booked it even before getting engaged!

Because 95% of their guests were traveling in, they quickly realized they needed a planner. After spotting Victoria of Amuse Event Co. on Instagram, they knew she was the one. “She helped us narrow our vision and source the perfect vendors.” When Hannah joined the team, everything just clicked.

Photography was a no-brainer. Ashlee Huff’s editorial, Vogue-style caught their eye. By a stroke of luck, Ashlee moved from NYC to Austin during planning. Videographer Wes Rait’s cinematic storytelling style fit perfectly too.

Out West ATX—a husband and wife DJ duo—brought unbelievable energy. Guests loved them so much, many left the night with their contact info. Forsythia Florals’ tropical, desert-inspired blooms transformed the venue into the perfect Marfa-meets-Mexico dream.

Setting the Tone With Pre-Wedding Events

The couple kicked off the weekend with a welcome party at Central Machine Works—a repurposed airplane hangar turned beer and craft cocktail bar. Guests were encouraged to pop across the street first for frozen margaritas at De Nada Cantina. Their intimate rehearsal dinner at Aba on South Congress featured a Greek mezze-style feast.

All guests stayed at The Line in downtown Austin, where they were greeted with custom Texas-themed tote bags filled with Alexa and Kole’s favorite candies, local treats, post-party survival kits, and handwritten notes.

Their Take on Modern Wedding Attire

Alexa worked with Bre Budryk of Bremelia Bridal on two custom looks: a sleek ceremony gown with clean lines, a high slit, and pearl detailing, plus a pearl-detailed mini dress for the reception. She paired both with Jimmy Choo pearl heels.

Her bridesmaids wore black tulle dresses with plunging necklines and tie-backs, choosing their own hairstyles and makeup to feel their best.

Kole wore a custom black tux from Suit Supply with velvet Del Toro loafers. His groomsmen wore their own custom tuxes, and his groomswoman stunned in a shirtless tux and Louboutins.

Leading up to the day, both Alexa and Kole followed a consistent regimen of medical-grade skincare, hydrafacials, and laser treatments. A plan Alexa designed herself as an aesthetic nurse practitioner!

A First Look Full of Nerves and Surprises

Though they debated it, Alexa and Kole ultimately chose a first look to maximize cocktail hour time. “Kole was composed,” Alexa said, “while I danced and twirled around him.” Immediately after, they exchanged gifts. Only to realize they had bought each other the exact same one: custom prints of matchboxes from meaningful dates.

Making the Ceremony Deeply Personal

Their ceremony included a wine box ritual, sealing a bottle of 2012 Dom Perignon. A nod to a memorable trip to the Moet Champagne house in France to open on their first anniversary.

Kole’s vows stole the show: “If your love was a drug, it’d be ketamine.” “I diagnose you as my wife, my partner in crime, my forever co-pilot. And I’m sorry to say, it’s terminal.”

Their officiant Dermot, a friend and fellow emergency medicine provider, beautifully wove their story into the ceremony.

After saying “I do,” the couple grabbed margaritas and shared a private moment to decompress and soak it all in.

Bringing Their Cabo Discoteca Vision to Life at Their Austin Black Tie Wedding

From the start, Alexa and Kole stayed aligned: photography, a top-notch party, amazing food, and a nonstop dance floor were non-negotiable. They made sure even the quieter moments stayed vibrant, with extras like a photo booth, a “Caffeine Bolus” espresso bar, and a live cigar roller.

They kicked off the reception with a champagne tower surrounded by their wedding party. During formal photos, the Out West dj played “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan, sparking a spontaneous group sing-along.

Prospect House became a personalized “Cabo Discoteca,” thanks to a custom neon sign, lush bud vase wall, medical-themed signage, and a wall of 50+ disco balls reflecting off the dance floor.

Mirror decals in the bathrooms flashed affirmations like “Pookie, your outfit is fire.” Medical jokes like “Rapid Sequence Inebriation” for the bar signage and “Caffeine Bolus” for the espresso bar brought smiles to everyone.

When the Reception Becomes a Show

One of the night’s biggest highlights? A surprise drag queen performance of Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” and Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.”

Alexa’s sisters delivered a heartfelt custom song, while Kole’s friends gave a hilarious group toast—complete with shirtless tux jackets to match the groomswoman.

Later, they honored Alexa’s Portuguese heritage with traditional folk music, turning the dance floor into a full-on Portuguese folk dance.

Rather than sticking to a traditional father-daughter dance, they chose a “parents dance,” celebrating each parent individually.

Rolling With the Unexpected at Their Austin Black Tie Wedding

Despite a perfectly planned timeline, the night ran behind schedule. But thanks to their team, everything still flowed seamlessly. Their only regret? Not booking an extra hour at the venue!

If Alexa and Kole could give just a few pieces of advice to future couples planning an Austin black tie wedding, it would be:

  • Hire a full-service planner early
  • Start planning ahead of time
  • Choose vendors whose energy matches yours
  • Focus on creating a day that’s unapologetically you

Their spicy, sweet, and joy-filled Prospect House wedding proved one thing above all else: the best celebrations feel like a reflection of who you really are.

A Playful Boho Wedding in Spain Complete With Pizza and a Tattoo Artist

Angela and Rafa’s wedding in Spain was anything but ordinary. With a countryside setting, pizza for dinner, and even a live tattoo artist during the open bar, they made sure their day was packed with fun, surprises, and personality. It was the kind of wedding where traditions took a backseat—and love, laughter, and spontaneity led the way.

The couple’s  love story started long before the wedding day. They had seen each other often through mutual friends and always felt a strong connection, but life took its time. When they were finally single at the same time, Angela made the first move. “I proposed that we meet up, just the two of us, to really get to know each other,” she shared. The spark was undeniable and years later, it was clear their big day had to be just as authentic and personal as their journey.

From the start, they knew they didn’t want a typical celebration. “We wanted a wedding of our own, something special that really represented us.” With the help of a close friend (who later launched Bloom Studio Córdoba thanks to this experience!), they planned a special day that was fresh, full of creativity, and entirely them.

What We Love About This Wedding in Spain:

  • A natural countryside venue that felt like a hidden paradise
  • A playful Lego-themed seating chart that doubled as colorful keepsakes
  • Guests getting real tattoos during the open bar
  • Earthy, soft-toned outfits that kept the day feeling relaxed and natural
  • Pizza served for dinner, proving formal meals are optional

Featured Vendor:

Monika Zaldo

Where They Focused Their Budget (and Got Creative)

When it came to planning, Angela and Rafa focused their energy and their budget on the things that mattered most to them: flowers, photography, food, and music. “We knew those were the things we wanted to invest in to really make the day memorable.”

They chose their suppliers carefully to match their vision, including Junebug Vendor Monika Zaldo, whose beautiful, documentary-style photos captured every heartfelt and playful moment.

For many of the other details, they rolled up their sleeves and created them themselves. Like styling the sweets table, designing the open bar, and crafting the now-iconic Lego brick seating plan. Their hands-on approach made every part of the day feel even more meaningful.

Wedding Outfits That Felt Effortless, Not Overdone

Angela’s dress story was a little unexpected. “The concept of my dress was the complete opposite of what I wore. But when I saw myself in it, I knew it was the one. It really represented who I am.” Rafa kept it cool with a hat that gave his look the perfect laid-back touch.

They also asked guests to dress in earthy and pastel tones. And most importantly, to be comfortable. From the lace detailing on Angela’s gown to the relaxed, effortless style of the guests, everything about their wedding in Spain felt natural, true, and refreshingly unpretentious.

How Music Set the Mood for Their Wedding in Spain

Music was another important part of the day. Angela walked down the aisle to “The Wind” by Cat Stevens, while Rafa chose “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis. Their ceremony ended with a kiss as “Sweet Home Alabama” played in the background—a soundtrack that perfectly matched their playful energy.

Letting Nature Be the Ultimate Backdrop

Choosing the venue for their wedding in Spain was all about finding a space that felt untouched and natural. “We wanted a truly natural space, surrounded by countryside, hidden away. A place where no matter where you looked, there was nothing to break the magic of the moment.”

The open fields, wild beauty, and simple charm allowed their boho-romantic vision to shine without distraction. Vibrant floral compositions added pops of color everywhere, giving the whole day a whimsical and joyful feel.

Unexpected Moments That Made Their Wedding In Spain Unforgettable

If you thought things couldn’t get more fun, think again: they had a live tattoo artist set up during the open bar! “It was the craziest thing ever,” Angela said. “There were people getting tattooed for the first time!”

Later, instead of a formal sit-down dinner, they surprised everyone with boxes of pizza delivered straight to the party. The relaxed dinner setup encouraged everyone to gather, laugh, dance, and keep the celebration going into the night.

Angela even changed into a second, more comfortable dress for the open bar festivities. And shared a sweet dance with her mom to “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, creating another unforgettable memory.

Keeping It Real: Their Best Wedding Day Tip

Looking back, Angela and Rafa wouldn’t change a thing. Their biggest tip? “Be true to your personalities and show on the day what brought you together as a couple.” After all, the most memorable weddings aren’t perfect—they’re real, personal, and full of heart. Just like theirs.

Bold Looks and a Focus on Fun Made This Jewel Tone Wedding Unforgettable

May 5, 2025 | justine

What do you get when two stylish grooms, a dramatic emerald-and-gold vision, and a guest list that understands the assignment come together? A jewel tone wedding that’s bold, personal, and packed with unforgettable moments.

Brock and McKinley’s love story started online, both thinking they were in it for something casual. A handful of dates turned into something special faster than either of them expected. When COVID hit and the world shut down, their bond only grew stronger.

One early moment sealed the deal: just a week into dating, Brock fell seriously ill while staying at McKinley’s. “I went to the store in the middle of the night to get him medicine and even skipped an important conference the next day,” McKinley shared. “That was when we knew, we’d found our forever.”

Even before the proposal, McKinley had a Pinterest board dedicated to a green and gold wedding. “I’d been saving ideas for over a decade,” he said. And since Brock’s a lifelong Packers fan, the color palette was an easy win.

Though they didn’t hire a planner, their vendors played a key role. “Our vendors were amazing. They helped us figure out what we needed and when.” Early on, they found a rhythm—using planning templates and checklists to guide biweekly sessions where they tackled wedding to-dos together. “On Tuesdays, we picked topics. Sundays, we’d go deep and divide tasks,” they explained. It helped them stay on track and, more importantly, on the same page.

What We Love About This Jewel Tone Wedding:

  • The grooms’ epic fashion choices—yes to the emerald jacket and that jumpsuit-cape combo
  • Their choreographed lip-sync entrance to “It’s Raining Men” (instant icon status)
  • A ring-warming ceremony that brought the whole room into the moment
  • The emotional vows that had everyone crying
  • An intentional, joy-filled vibe that radiated through every detail—from signature drinks to packed dance floors

Featured Vendor:

Katherine Elyse Media

Prioritizing Representation in Vendor Selection

While scrolling Instagram and asking around for referrals, Brock and McKinley were clear about one thing: “We wanted vendors who were openly LGBT-friendly.”  They knew it would shape the entire atmosphere, and it did.

Their photographer and Junebug vendor Katherine Elyse Media, captured every emotional glance and moment of joy with a warm, candid style that matched the day perfectly.

Why They Skipped the Rehearsal Dinner

Instead of doing a traditional rehearsal dinner, Brock and McKinley threw a welcome party at The Well. It was relaxed, colorful, and full of laughter. Exactly the kind of energy they wanted leading into the wedding day. “It let everyone mix and feel part of the celebration from the start.”

Dressing for the Vibe, Not the Rulebook

McKinley ditched the idea of a traditional tux early. “When I saw the jumpsuit and cape, I knew,” he said. “It was bold, it was me.” Brock, never one to shy away from a statement, found the perfect emerald jacket online.

They encouraged their guests to wear jewel tones, and everyone absolutely delivered. “We said ‘formal’ but wanted people to feel amazing. Everyone looked stunning.” Their bridal party followed suit: satin champagne dresses with slits, letting each person’s style shine while staying cohesive.

Choosing a Venue That Felt Like Home

Hotel Covington stood out for many reasons, but one was most important: “They’re openly supportive of LGBTQ+ couples. From the start, they made us feel wanted and respected.”

The couple loved the layout too. The courtyard offered a romantic backdrop for their ceremony, while the indoor spaces created a seamless flow for the celebration that followed.

Jewel Tone Wedding Ceremony Moments They’ll Never Forget

The vows were the emotional centerpiece of the day. Written personally, they brought the house to tears. “That moment, saying those words in front of everyone we love, was unreal.”

Other standout details? McKinley’s dad walking him down the aisle, their friend Lia officiating a custom ceremony, and a string duo playing Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” as a nod to their favorite show, Schitt’s Creek.

Being Realistic With Budget—While Still Going Big on Impact

With a guest list of about 125, Brock and McKinley focused on intentional choices that created an unforgettable experience without going over budget. They added unique touches like a ring-warming ceremony, wrote their own deeply personal vows, and made sure the drinks and music were on point.

One unexpected crowd-pleaser? A signature cocktail inspired by a drink they loved from Shark Tank. “We wanted a party with great drinks, a packed dance floor, and lots of little surprises.” Mission definitely accomplished.

From DIY Details to Champagne Sprays

They weren’t afraid to get hands-on. From setup to desserts baked by Brock’s coworker, nearly every detail had a personal touch. “It made it all feel more meaningful.”

After the ceremony, they celebrated with a champagne spray and a lip-sync grand entrance that got the whole crowd cheering. “We wanted our guests to feel like they were part of something epic—and they did.”

The dance floor stayed packed all night, proving that great music, a killer jewel tone wedding dress code, and genuine love make the perfect party combo.

A Jewel Tone Wedding Celebration Rooted in Meaning

Brock and McKinley’s big day is a reminder that the most meaningful weddings are about staying true to who you are. From the bold fashion to the intentional vendor choices and deeply personal ceremony, every detail reflected their love, values, and shared joy. This jewel tone wedding was more than just stylish—it was soul-filled. When you lead with authenticity and prioritize connection, you create something truly magical.

A Private Moment to Close the Night

After all the energy and celebration, the couple retreated to their room. Brock lit the fire, McKinley put on music, and they slow-danced under the stars on their terrace, just the two of them. “It was the perfect ending.”

Mountain Views and Meaningful Moments in this Laid-Back Stanley, Idaho Wedding

May 3, 2025 | justine

What does a truly laid-back wedding look like? For Lexi and Logan, it meant ditching tradition, embracing mountain-town magic, and doing things their way, unapologetically and beautifully.

Their love story didn’t begin with sparks flying in a movie-worthy moment. It started with a humble DM: “Hi, I’m just some random fella who thinks you’re beautiful and would like to take you on a date.” Maybe not poetic, but perfectly them.

From that first message, their connection grew—built on inside jokes, made-up words, and the kind of ease that only comes from finding your person. “It wasn’t one big grand gesture. It was a million little things,” they shared.

When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew exactly what they didn’t want: stress, stuffiness, or anything that didn’t feel like them. What did they want? A celebration that felt intimate, natural, and full of good energy. And there was no better place than Stanley, Idaho—a spot Logan had loved since childhood and one that soon became their shared haven.

“Once we started dating, he introduced me (and my parents) to it, and it quickly became one of our places. Somewhere that just felt like home, but with way better views.”

What We Love About This Laid-Back Wedding:

  • The naturally stunning backdrop of Stanley, Idaho
  • Their DIY flower bar experience from a local you-pick garden
  • A low-key, high-love vibe woven throughout every detail
  • A wedding team made up of close friends, family, and local vendors
  • The heartfelt decision to keep things simple, meaningful, and stress-free

“We’ve never been the type to get caught up in every tiny detail. We’re usually too busy chasing our next adventure. So we didn’t want wedding planning to feel like some drawn-out, stressful production.”

Instead of fussing over perfection, they focused on what mattered most: each other. Once they met their photographer, the vision started to fall into place. Stanley was already their favorite escape, so making it the heart of their wedding just felt right.

They kept their approach simple: pick what they loved, skip what they didn’t, and let the day unfold naturally. Flowers came from a charming local you-pick garden, desserts were from a Stanley sweet shop, and their “wedding team” was a mix of incredible local vendors and the people who love them most. “Sometimes the best people for the job are the ones who already love you.”

The result? A relaxed, joy-filled celebration that felt like home—just with even better views.

Easygoing Rehearsal by the Campfire to Set the Tone of Their Laid-Back Wedding Weekend

Rather than a formal rehearsal dinner, they kicked things off at their favorite camping spot in Stanley. Surrounded by mountains, a crackling fire, and their closest people, it was the perfect prelude to the weekend.

They did a couple of quick aisle walk-throughs, then let the rest of the night unfold naturally. No assigned seating, no speeches. Just good vibes and stars overhead.

“We ran through a few quick practice rounds (just enough to make sure no one tripped walking down the aisle), but beyond that, it was all about good vibes, a crackling campfire, and soaking in the outdoors with our favorite people. No strict schedules, no stress. Just a perfect night under the stars, setting the tone for the best weekend ever.”

Laid-Back Wedding Fashion That Felt Like Them

Lexi knew she didn’t want a typical wedding dress—she wanted something bold, unique, and totally her. And she found it. “Something that made people say, ‘That is so Lex.’”

Logan wore a classic tan suit, keeping things earthy and timeless. The rest of the wedding party followed suit—effortlessly coordinated without feeling matchy-matchy. Hair, makeup, and accessories were all about celebrating individual style. “We didn’t want anyone to feel like a clone. We wanted everyone to feel like themselves.”

Rolling With Wild Weather and Wiggly Ring Bearers

If you’ve ever planned an outdoor wedding, you know Mother Nature doesn’t always RSVP. “We set up everything for the ceremony, stepped away to get dressed, and in true mountain fashion, the wind decided to make its presence known.”

But instead of letting it ruin the moment, they embraced the chaos—windblown hair, flying decorations, and all. “Honestly, it just made everything more us. A little unpredictable, a little adventurous, and completely unforgettable.”

Another unpredictable and unforgettable detail? Moose, their adorable puppy, doubled as ring bearer.

A Laid-Back Wedding Ceremony Full of Heart

Lexi’s dad officiated their ceremony, adding personal touches and just the right amount of humor (including a few golf jokes). The couple exchanged vows surrounded by family, friends, and mountains that felt like home.

Between the laughter, the wind, and Moose’s grand entrance, it was everything they dreamed of. Deeply meaningful and entirely their own.

How They Planned a Wedding Without Losing Their Minds (Or Budget)

Lexi and Logan kept things simple and intentional from the start. No overthinking, no pressure. “We picked what we loved, skipped what we didn’t care about, and somehow, it all came together in the best way possible.”

  • Venue? Stanley City Park—cheap, scenic, and perfectly them.
  • Flowers? Picked from a local you-pick garden.
  • Cake and dessert? Straight from a local shop.
  • Wedding team? A combo of talented locals and helpful friends.

“We weren’t going to let our wedding turn into a budget-eating monster,” Lexi said. Their top priority? “The photos! We wanted to make sure we had amazing photos to look back on.”

With Junebug vendor Autumn Lynne Photography behind the lens, they captured all the magic—big and small—without sacrificing the relaxed, real feeling they craved.

A Saloon Celebration to Remember

Their reception took over a local bar, complete with a live band and all their favorite people. “It wasn’t a massive dance floor full of strangers—it was a jam session with the people who mean the most to us.”

They danced, sang, and closed out the night at Mountain Village Saloon—exactly how they’d always pictured ending their best day ever.

Their Wedding, Their Way

One of their favorite memories was a sunrise photo session at Stanley Lake. “The air is crisp (okay, cold), the lake is perfectly still, and the mountains are just starting to glow. And there we were, standing together, taking it all in.”

Lexi and Logan’s advice? Keep it simple and stay true to what feels right. “Don’t overthink it,” they said. “Focus on what actually matters to you. Whether that’s the location, the people, or just making sure you have a good time.”

Their laid back wedding wasn’t about trends or expectations. It was about celebrating in a place they loved, surrounded by people who mattered, in a way that felt true to their story.

Because at the end of the day, the best wedding is the one that feels like you. Wind, wiggly puppies, and all.

What Happens When Two Florists Get Married at The Waldorf Hilton London? A Floral Dream Unfolds

May 1, 2025 | justine

What happens when two florists get married? In Kiran and Farzan’s case, it turns into an unforgettable floral dream, designed and styled entirely by the couple themselves. Owners of sustainable floral design company Amarante London, these two brought their vision to life in one of the most iconic venues in the city: The Waldorf Hilton London.

What We Love About This Wedding At The Waldorf Hilton London:

  • The ceremony in the Palm Court, complete with a glass roof and soft, romantic blooms
  • A moody, red florals-filled reception in the Ballroom with candlelight and dramatic tablescapes
  • That the couple—both florists!—designed the entire floral experience themselves
  • A perfectly balanced timeline, from emotional speeches to a fun-filled party with a live saxophonist
  • Intentional vendor choices rooted in real connections and creative admiration

Choosing a Venue That Already Held Meaning

For Kiran and Farzan, choosing The Waldorf Hilton London was more than a design decision, it was deeply personal. “The Waldorf has always meant a lot to us. It’s where we stayed when visiting London,” they shared. That connection, combined with the historic charm and stunning architecture, made it an easy choice.

The ceremony was held in the light-filled Palm Court, with its iconic glass roof that once served as a set for Titanic. The couple leaned into the venue’s elegance, filling the space with soft, garden-inspired florals in blush, cream, and muted peach. The flowers lined the aisle and framed their vows.

How They Made Their The Waldorf Hilton London Wedding Ceremony Feel Personal and Powerful

The pair took the time to craft their own vows and speeches—something they say made a huge impact. “We prepared speeches for our ceremony and it was super emotional.” Creating space for emotion and authenticity turned their ceremony into a heartfelt experience, not just for them but for everyone in the room.

Afterward, they hosted a casual drinks reception while their photographer captured the must-have family portraits. “It was nice to have that breather before the big celebration,” they added.

Designing the Wedding of Their Dreams… Literally

As professional florists, Kiran and Farzan had a clear vision for their day and the skill to make it happen. They designed and installed all of the florals themselves through their company, Amarante London.

The evening reception in The Waldorf Hilton London’s Ballroom was the definition of dramatic elegance. Long tables were dressed in deep red blooms, hundreds of them, paired with flickering candles for a moody, romantic vibe. “We wanted a dark, red theme for the evening. It was stunning.”

They intentionally created two distinct floral looks—soft and airy for the ceremony, bold and rich for the reception—to reflect the mood of each moment.

Picking the Right Team Made All the Difference

Having worked alongside their photographer at a recent wedding, the couple knew they had found the right person to capture their day. “We loved their style,” they said. Similarly, they chose a videographer whose past work had blown them away. The result? A dream team that fully understood their vibe.

The night wrapped with a high-energy celebration featuring a saxophonist, a live band, and a DJ who kept the dance floor packed. “It was a great night,” the couple remembered. “All of our friends and family were there. It was everything we wanted.”

Final Thoughts from a Couple Who Knows Flowers

When asked what made the day so memorable, Kiran and Farzan kept it simple: it was all about love, intention, and staying true to what mattered most. From the floral artistry to the emotional ceremony, every detail was meaningful—and that’s what made their wedding at The Waldorf Hilton London so special.

An Xcaret Mexico Wedding With a Reception on the Edge of the Ocean

April 24, 2025 | justine

When Tiffany and Tyler matched on Bumble during the early pandemic lockdowns, their connection was instant. “From that first date, it was clear that this love story was just beginning,” they shared. A charcuterie board, a bashful “whoa,”—and ended with Tyler happily setting aside a year of vegetarianism, already too taken with Tiffany to care.and a vegetarian moment forgotten—everything aligned for these two. And after years of building a life together, traveling the world, and making memories from Lima to Switzerland, they decided to say “I do” in a place that felt just as magical: an Xcaret Mexico wedding.

The couple knew early on they didn’t want a traditional beach wedding, but they did want nature to take center stage. “We envisioned a natural, outdoor wedding with a jungle-meets-ocean vibe.” After discovering Hotel Xcaret Mexico through the Instagram of their planner–Junebug vendor Lucy Gallagher Boutique Weddings–everything started falling into place.

“We wanted our guests to feel the magic of nature while enjoying a classy yet fun celebration.” Xcaret provided a stunning blend of coastal beauty and jungle charm—with a dramatic pyramid and chapel overlooking their ceremony site, and a reception space surrounded by caves and water that kept things cool and breezy.

Planning from afar can be tricky, but the couple relied heavily on their planner to help find trusted vendors. “We started with Xcaret’s recommended list, and Lucy also brought in a few external vendors based on her experience.”

Priorities included a bilingual DJ to entertain their international crowd, a florist who could work within their budget, and photo and video teams that could capture the couple’s natural energy. “We wanted professionals who could avoid stiff or overly posed shots,” Tiffany said. For video, they chose Junebug vendor One Cameraman, whose cinematic yet personal style felt like the perfect fit.

When it came to finding their planner, the couple looked for three things: someone who had worked weddings at Xcaret, could communicate bilingually, and most importantly—meshed well with their personalities. “That made all the difference.”

What We Love About This Xcaret Mexico Wedding:

  • The uniquely immersive ceremony spot at Xcaret Mexico, set between the jungle and the sea
  • A warm, modern color palette of tan, neutrals, and sage that let the setting shine
  • A private and heartfelt first look that helped calm their nerves and maximize guest time
  • A bilingual, customized ceremony that honored both of their cultures
  • An open-air reception nestled between caves and water, offering a naturally breezy, intimate atmosphere

Wedding Attire That Matched the Mood

The entire wedding day was styled around a color palette of soft neutrals and greens that let the venue shine. Tiffany wore a Monique Lhuillier gown with floral appliqués and a subtle skin-tone underlay—romantic and light, just like the setting. For the reception, she changed into a short Herve Leger dress with Valentino heels.

Tyler wore a tailored tan suit and later swapped into a short-sleeve shirt and sandals. Bridesmaids wore sage dresses in mixed styles, while the groomsmen matched Tyler’s laid-back tan look. Even their parents joined in with coordinated gold and neutral tones.

Making Space for Connection

One of their smartest decisions? Doing a first look. “It was our favorite part of the entire day.” That quiet moment helped settle their nerves and gave them time to be fully present with each other. It also freed up time during cocktail hour to relax and enjoy their guests.

They also loved their sweetheart table. “Never leave your partner’s side during the reception,” Tiffany advised. “Having our own table gave us a moment to eat, talk, and take it all in together.”

A Ceremony That Reflected Their Relationship and Roots

For Tiffany and Tyler, choosing Xcaret as their wedding venue wasn’t just about the views—it was about finding a space that reflected who they are. “We wanted an outdoor wedding, but not a traditional beach ceremony.” Xcaret struck the perfect balance, blending the natural beauty of the jungle and ocean with distinctive cultural elements. Their ceremony took place with the iconic pyramid as a backdrop and a chapel perched above, giving the moment a quiet, spiritual presence without feeling overtly religious.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was the ceremony itself, made even more special by their officiant—Tiffany’s best friend. “She was bilingual and someone close to both of us,” the couple said. The ceremony was delivered mostly in English, with thoughtful Spanish phrases woven in to reflect their blended backgrounds. To make the experience more inclusive, they went a step further and printed out full translations of the ceremony and vows so every guest could follow along, no matter their primary language.

And then there was the detail Tiffany will never forget: a small clip attached to her bouquet, gifted by Tyler’s grandmother who couldn’t be there in person. “Including it allowed us to honor her presence in spirit,” she said. Quiet, intentional touches like this made their ceremony not only personal—but deeply heartfelt.

Budgeting for What Matters Most

Like many couples, Tiffany and Tyler initially assumed that getting married in Mexico would be the more budget-friendly option. But as their vision for a dream Xcaret Mexico wedding came to life, they realized they needed a bit more flexibility. Rather than scaling back the celebration itself, they made smart, intentional decisions to stay within budget. They opted out of hiring a second photographer, booked eight hours of videography coverage instead of ten, chose a smaller floral arch, and skipped an elaborate cake display, serving it simply as dessert instead. These thoughtful compromises allowed them to prioritize the vendors and elements that mattered most, keeping the day visually stunning and completely stress-free.

An Xcaret Mexico Wedding Reception That Celebrated Nature

Their cocktail hour and reception took place in a stunning open-air space tucked between natural rock formations and the water’s edge. Unlike a typical beach setup, this unique location offered protection from the strong ocean winds while still allowing guests to enjoy the surrounding views and fresh breeze. “It created the exact ambiance we were hoping for—unique and deeply connected to nature.”

The setting felt effortlessly romantic, with soft lighting, organic textures, and the sounds of nature all around. Guests mingled under the open sky, surrounded by caves and lush greenery, as they enjoyed cocktails and conversation. The seamless flow from ceremony to reception helped maintain the relaxed-yet-refined vibe the couple had envisioned from the start. It wasn’t just a beautiful backdrop, it was an experience that made everyone feel like they were part of something special.

Keeping the Celebration Flowing at Their Xcaret Mexico Wedding

From start to finish, Tiffany and Tyler made sure their guests were treated to a full experience. The wedding weekend kicked off with a casual welcome event, complete with taco and churro stands and heartfelt speeches. “We wanted people to connect before the big day,” they said.

And after the wedding? A night at Xoximilco, where guests rode gondolas, sipped tequila, and danced to live music under the stars. “It was the perfect way to say goodbye. So fun, so festive, and so uniquely Mexican.”

Tiffany and Tyler’s Tips for Planning a Destination Wedding

If you’re planning your own Xcaret Mexico wedding, here’s their real-world advice:

  • Hire a planner who knows the venue well. It makes everything smoother.
  • Be clear with communication. Response times from resorts may be slow, so manage expectations with your guests.
  • Visit beforehand, if possible. It helps with vendor meetings, food tastings, and setting realistic expectations.
  • Stay flexible. Let go of perfection and focus on enjoying the moment.
  • Stick together. Create time to be with your partner. This is your day, too.

From a pandemic-era first date to an epic celebration surrounded by loved ones, Tiffany and Tyler’s Xcaret Mexico wedding proves that when you lead with intention and a little adventure, everything comes together beautifully.
