In recent years, more couples have embraced the idea of hosting a weekend of wedding celebrations. Attending a wedding can cost guests a lot of time and money, so why not make the most of the experience for your loved ones? This is where a wedding welcome party comes into play. It’s like the kickoff to the big celebration, getting everyone in the mood for the big day.

Think of the welcome party as the first chance to say hello to all your guests before the wedding. The best part is you can be creative with it. Some couples host this instead of the traditional rehearsal dinner, while others add it as an extra celebration after the rehearsal. You can even spread the festivities over a few days, with a rehearsal dinner on Thursday, a welcome party on Friday, and the actual wedding on Saturday.

With so many possibilities, it’s no wonder that welcome parties have become a regular part of wedding weekends. If you’re considering having one, you’re in the right place. Here, you’ll find tips and ideas on how to make your wedding welcome party a fantastic addition to your special weekend festivities.

FAQs to Planning A Wedding Welcome Party

What is a Wedding Welcome Party?

A welcome party is like the exciting opening act of a grand wedding weekend. It’s a special celebration before the wedding itself, meant to kick off the festivities with a bang. The primary purpose of a welcome party is to give your family and guests a chance to meet and mingle before the main event. This gathering is typically more relaxed and informal than other wedding activities, creating an excellent opportunity for the couple to connect with their loved ones in a casual setting.

Who’s on the Guest List for the Welcome Party?

One important thing to note is that everyone invited to the wedding is usually welcome at the welcome party. In contrast, the rehearsal dinner is generally reserved for close family members and those directly involved in the ceremony. Sometimes, couples choose to have a formal rehearsal dinner followed by a more laid-back welcome party to include everyone else. If you have lots of out-of-town guests or you’re having a destination wedding, a welcome party becomes even more meaningful as it offers a chance to entertain those who’ve traveled to be part of your special day.

How to Let People Know About the Welcome Party?

You don’t need a whole new fancy invitation. Instead, you can include a little card inside your wedding invitations that mentions any extra wedding events, like a cool welcome cocktail party or a chill post-wedding brunch. This way, your guests will know there’s more to look forward to. You can also share the details on your wedding website.

Who Pays for the Welcome Party?

While the couple can cover the costs, it’s common for parents to share the expenses or for the side of the family that isn’t funding the wedding to take care of the welcome party. The budgeting details can vary based on your unique circumstances and preferences, so make the best decision for you and your loved ones.

When is the Best Time to Host a Welcome Party?

Usually, it happens the day before the wedding, and sometimes, if you’re feeling extra festive, it might even be two days before the big day. But here’s the deal: the timing of your welcome party depends on a couple of essential factors.

First, you’ve got to think about when your guests will be rolling into town. You want to ensure they’re there and ready to have a good time. Second, consider when you’re planning to host your rehearsal dinner. Depending on these factors, you can decide when to slot in your welcome party. It can happen after the rehearsal dinner, or you can use it as a replacement for the rehearsal dinner itself.

Where Should the Welcome Party Be?

That’s totally up to you, but it should be close to all the other wedding events. Beyond that, you’ve got free rein. Some couples like to get creative and choose a place different from their wedding venue, adding a unique twist to the whole experience.

What Food and Drink Should be Served?

You may serve whatever you like, but having something to nibble on is a good idea, even if it’s just some tasty appetizers. It’s your chance to indulge in your favorite food, maybe even some dishes that didn’t make the cut for the wedding menu. Think about your favorite eats, dishes with sentimental value, or the cuisine you and your partner bond over on date nights.

Now, let’s talk drinks. You don’t have to provide alcohol, and you don’t have to foot the entire bar bill. But if you’re not covering the drinks, let your guests know in advance, either on the invitations or your website. Some couples start by offering one or two complimentary drinks per guest and then switch to a cash bar. It’s all about what fits your budget. Keep in mind that this party complements your reception, so enjoy it without going too wild. It’s all about ensuring your guests have a great time without feeling tired or unwell for the main event.

What Themes are Best for a Welcome Party?

There are no strict rules, so you can have fun with your ideas. You get to choose how the party looks and feels. It can be fancy, flashy, or relaxed and easygoing—it’s your call. You can let the location inspire how you decorate and set the mood. Feel free to do something completely different from your wedding’s style. For example, if your wedding uses a neutral color palette, add some bright and bold colors to shake things up.

Wedding Welcome Bags Advice and Ideas

April 29, 2024 | riley

Weddings are a time of joy and celebration, and one of the most thoughtful gestures a couple can extend to their guests for spending time with them on their wedding day is a well-curated wedding welcome bag. These small packages serve as a token of appreciation and a warm invitation to share in the excitement of the big day. Think of them as the wedding guest gift idea that keeps on giving.

Creating the perfect welcome bag requires attention to detail, creativity, and a touch of personalization. If you’re looking at spoiling your guests but don’t know where to begin, don’t stress. We’re rounding up everything to know about wedding welcome bags–plus, we’re rounding up some ideas that you can use for your own!

Why Give Out Welcome Bags?

Wedding welcome bags serve multiple purposes. They not only greet guests upon arrival but also set the tone for the wedding festivities. A well-designed welcome bag reflects the couple’s personality, theme, and location of the wedding. It’s a way to express gratitude to guests for traveling to join in the celebration and to ensure they feel appreciated and comfortable throughout their stay. That’s why they’ve become increasingly popular with destination weddings. However, you don’t have to travel for your special day in order to spoil your guests. If you feel so inclined to put together a welcome bag, we’re all in favor.

What Kind of Bag to Use

Of course, you can’t have a welcome bag without the bag itself. Before you can even think about what to put inside the gift, it’s important to think about what kind of bag you want to use for the presentation. Totes bags, straw bags, baskets–the options are endless. To make it truly personalized to your day, consider adding your wedding date or initials, so your guests think of you any time they use it.

Shop welcome bags: 1. Modern Wedding Monogram Welcome Bags; 2. Small Jute Burlap Welcome Bags; 3. Tropical Wedding Welcome Tote Bag; 4. Classy Hotel Wedding Welcome Box

How to Pass Out Welcome Bags

How you distribute your welcome bags is entirely up to you and the kind of wedding you’re hosting. If you want to hand them out personally, designate a central location, such as the hotel lobby or a table at the venue, where guests can easily find their bags upon arrival. If you’re having a destination wedding and all of your guests are staying in the same hotel, arrange with the hotel staff for the bags to be placed in the guests’ rooms prior to check-in for a seamless surprise. No matter how you pass them out, remember to include a note thanking your guests for joining in the celebration as a last personal touch to the gift.

What to Put in Wedding Welcome Bags

Personalization is key to creating memorable welcome bags. Start by including a heartfelt welcome note from you and your significant other, expressing gratitude and excitement for the guests’ presence. Tailor the contents to reflect the wedding location, theme, and any special interests or preferences of the guests. This could include local delicacies, artisanal treats, or items related to the wedding festivities.

Essentials for Comfort

While personalization is important, don’t overlook the practical needs of your guests. Include essential items such as bottled water, maps, and an itinerary of events to help guests navigate the wedding weekend smoothly. Consider including practical items like sunscreen, towels, blankets, insect repellent, or hand sanitizer, especially for outdoor or destination weddings.

Hangover Kits

While we’re on the topic of your guests’ comfort, if you know that there are going to be plenty of drinks to be had on your wedding night, why not help cure the inevitable hangover guests are going to be feeling the next morning with mini hangover kits? Include items like painkillers,  makeup remover wipes, mints, electrolyte drink mixes, and eye masks. You can find countless mini bags to put all the supplies in on Etsy, too.

Shop hangover kit essentials: 1. ‘About Last Night’ Hangover Kit Bags; 2. In Sickness & In Health Hangover Kit Bags; 3. Hangover Kit Supplies; 4. Wedding Recovery Kit Labels

Local Souvenirs

Incorporating local touches adds a unique flair to wedding welcome bags and allows guests to experience the flavor of the wedding destination. Include regional specialties such as gourmet chocolates, locally roasted coffee, or artisanal crafts that showcase the area’s culture and charm.

Customized Keepsakes

To commemorate the occasion, consider including customized keepsakes that guests can cherish long after the wedding day. Ideas include monogrammed keychains, customized wine labels on your favorite bottle of wine, or a bag full of goodies with your wedding logo.

Home Goods

Speaking of keepsakes, if you’re putting together a welcome bag with all of the ingredients for your favorite cocktail or recipe, consider adding a small home good item such as a cutting board, cocktail shaker, or engraved glass.

Alcohol

If there’s one way to get the party started early, it’s to include mini bottles of alcohol in your welcome bags. Whether you opt for mini kits to make a cocktail that you and your significant other, or you just want to include a shooter or two, it’s a fun addition that will start the wedding off right.

Food

Your guests are never going to turn down snacks, which is why they’re an easy element to base your welcome bag around. This real-life bag, for example, created a mini charcuterie experience for their guests using cheese, crackers, chocolate, and a mini cheese knife. If you and your partner are foodies, this is a great way to showcase your love to eat while also being relatively inexpensive.

Dietary Considerations

Be mindful of guests with dietary restrictions or preferences when selecting the contents of your welcome bags. While you’re most likely not going to be able to ensure that everyone can enjoy every item inside the bag, consider including a variety of snacks and beverages that cater to different dietary needs, such as gluten-free, vegan, or nut-free options. Clearly label any allergens to ensure guests can enjoy the treats worry-free.

By incorporating personal touches, local souvenirs, and thoughtful amenities, you can create a memorable wedding welcome bag for your guests. If you’re not sold on this idea yet, that’s okay, too! We’ve put together other favor ideas and alternatives (like donations to your favorite charity) that may fit you and your partner better.

Relaxed Garden Party Evergreen Museum and Library Wedding

November 12, 2023 | justine

Who can resist the charm of a garden wedding? It’s like pure magic. That’s why Courtney and Christopher had a dream to exchange sweet vows amid a beautiful garden. With a soft, dreamy color palette, lush flowers, and that enchanting outdoor setting, they turned this dream into reality at their Evergreen Museum and Library wedding.

Their garden ceremony was like something out of a fairy tale, with stunning floral pillars framing the moment they said “I do.” After tying the knot, they continued the celebration in a tented reception area adorned with elegant drapes, sparkling chandeliers, and exquisite table decor.

If your dream wedding involves a historic mansion and perfectly manicured gardens, this is just the inspiration you need. Keep scrolling to see all the stunning details beautifully captured by Junebug member Jacqueline Davison.

The Couple:

Courtney and Christopher

The Wedding:

Evergreen Museum and Library, Baltimore, Marland, United States

Finding Calm in the Groom’s Smile at the Aisle

I felt so much stress and anxiety leading up to the wedding, and the threat of rain had us nervously checking weather forecasts up to the last minute, literally. I had barely finished my vows despite starting them months in advance. And right as I heard my music cue, I think all the nerves that had been at bay just hit me. I couldn’t see him initially and must have seemed a little shaky because my mom kept reminding me to breathe. And then I saw him. And I know it sounds silly, but I felt completely calm. I knew other people were there. But I just saw him smiling (and crying), and I felt like everything else faded away, and it was just me and him. I’ll never forget that moment and that feeling.

Personalizing the Ceremony Through Unconventional Traditions and a Soulful Playlist

We worked closely with our officiant to find inspiration and quotations from our favorite authors to set the tone for our day and life together. We didn’t feel the need to conform to any single tradition or template. For instance, Courtney is closest to her mother and grandmother, so they walked her down the aisle. As Black Americans, it was important to honor the tradition of jumping the broom, so we also incorporated that. It was fun to take elements to fit who we are and to tie it all together. The music was hugely important: we love classic R&B, funk, and hip-hop. Our top priority was to see our guests dancing and enjoying themselves, and the DJ brought his A-game. We ensured they had Stevie Wonder and The O’Jays in their repertoire. As a nod to Courtney’s DC roots, our DJ obliged us with an epic Go-Go set.

The Moment They Knew That an Evergreen Museum and Library Wedding Was The Perfect Choice

We were going for a relaxed spring “garden party” feel. In our venue search, we needed to find a place with its own natural beauty that we could play off of. When we first toured the Evergreen Museum and Library, we knew that was our place. Driving to the venue, you pass through the Roland Park neighborhood. With all these incredibly stately homes with beautiful foliage and landscaping. And then you turn into a dramatic, rolling driveway and this grand Victorian mansion and cozy, elegant gardens. It made for a memorable entrance.

The Floral Transformation at Their Evergreen Museum and Library Wedding

Our florists did a great job of playing off the environment, using soft petal blooms like ranunculus, sweet peas, and garden roses that played up the garden textures and foliages of the venue. They created a beautiful freestanding arch with flowering branches like forsythia and dogwood. It was the backdrop for our ceremony in front of the garden and was repurposed to frame our seats at the head table. They completely knocked it out of the park!

Wedding Day Wisdom: Embracing the Imperfections

Something will go wrong. Maybe even a few things, but that’s ok. The sooner you can come to terms with that, you can focus on enjoying the rest of the day. And the things that end up being better than you could have imagined. Also, surround yourself with people who can shield you from some of those issues, especially on your wedding day—having the right vendors passionate about their work matters. And, of course, having people in your wedding party who love and support you and your partner. And want to ensure you have a great day can help keep you calm and focused on what matters. We feel so fortunate to have had such a fantastic vendor team and wedding party.

Making the Celebration Last Longer by Hosting Welcome Drinks and a Farewell Brunch

It’s not exactly a surprise because we were warned about this by almost every married couple we know. But, the day goes by so quickly. We’re grateful we had both welcome drinks the night before and brunch the following day. Those events allowed us to spend more time with our friends and family. And to hear all the fun stories from the wedding we may not have been a part of.

With its eclectic mix of minimalist art and culture, it’s easy to see why Blaine and Owen fell in love with Marfa over their several trips there together. And when the time came to tie the knot, the pair wanted to share the same unique experience with their loved ones. On top of their venue’s wanderlust vibe, they combined western charm, desert festival feels, and a touch of disco. Their El Cosmico wedding became the spot for a totally cool wedding weekend.

Right from the start, the couple made a statement by driving to their courthouse ceremony in a vintage car. Over the next two days, they welcomed friends and family with a backyard chicken bingo and a pool party. They ended the weekend with a bang, hosting a cosmic cowboy, meets boho chic-themed reception complete with teepee tents, show-stopping floral arrangements in a gorgeous desert color palette, and glittery disco balls.

If you think the funky aesthetic can’t be topped, wait until you see their stylish wedding attire. Blaine and Owen really set the party tone with their three outfit changes, and it’s definitely a must-see! Want to see more of this campy and fun-filled desert affair? Keep scrolling and gush over these photos captured by Lauren Apel.

El Cosmico, Texas, United States

They Had The Fun-Filled El Cosmico Wedding Weekend They’d Always Envisioned

There were so many memorable parts it’s hard to pick. On Thursday, we had our actual ceremony in the courthouse rotunda, which was stunning. My dad married us with just our close family present. On Friday, we played chicken bingo at the welcome party. And finally, on Saturday, the pool party during the day was epic, but the cosmic cowboy-themed reception that evening was insane. Everyone dressed the part, and I could live on the dance floor forever.

How Their El Cosmico Wedding Came To Be

We fell in love with Marfa’s unique aesthetic and energy over several trips between Austin and Tucson. We wanted our guests to have a unique experience, and what better way than glamping under the night sky. El Cosmico is a unique hotel and venue, and cosmic cowboy is a unique theme. The colors we incorporated took after the West Texas desert and sky, with a touch of funky disco and an “out of this world” feel that El Cosmico encompasses so well. Lots of disco balls, stunning flowers, and festival vibes. We are so proud of how much fun everyone had. I hear many soon-to-be-married couples talk about the stress and obligations of the weekend bringing them down. We eliminated those and ensured we had a weekend that would be enjoyable for our guests and us. It was the most fun weekend of our lives! Cara and Jona from Open Roads were our wedding planners, who were exceptional the entire weekend.

The Ultimate Guide to Planning An Engagement Party

July 7, 2022 | kailey

Image by Brandi Potter. See more of this real wedding here.

After saying “Yes!” you’re probably ready to jump into planning your dream wedding. But first, we celebrate. Think champagne, loved ones, and a whole lot of congratulating. That’s right– we’re talking about your engagement party. Being the first of many pre-wedding parties, it’s the perfect way to kick off your wedding planning season

If you’re ready to get to planning, here’s everything you need to know about pulling off an engagement party worthy of celebrating your love.

Who Should Plan Your Engagement Party?

You’re not bound to strict rules when planning an engagement party. And modern-day couples are bending traditions, making their wedding—and everything leading up to their wedding—unique to their love. When deciding who will plan this important celebration, there is no “right” answer.

While it’s traditionally standard for parents to plan the engagement celebration, that doesn’t have to be the case. You can recruit your parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends, or plan the celebration yourself. No matter who plans your engagement party, make sure you’re on the same page about all details, including budget, theming, and even your guest list.

When Should You Plan Your Engagement Party?

The purpose of an engagement party is to actually announce your engagement, which means it should take place within the first few months of saying “yes!” Planning your celebration between two and four months after the proposal is a good rule of thumb. The wedding planning stress hasn’t kicked in yet, and you can celebrate the news in real-time.

Determining A Guest List

When determining a guest list for your engagement party, think small. Engagement parties are typically more intimate, casual affairs. A smaller guest list allows for you to soak up time with close friends and family while also allowing them to get acquainted with each other—that is, if they haven’t met already.

When finalizing the guest list, keep in mind that it’s standard practice for those invited to your engagement party to be extended a wedding invitation.

Secure A Venue

There’s a lot of flexibility when it comes to your venue. If you’re of a more casual couple, throw a backyard soiree. Wanting a more formal celebration? Rent out a private dining space at a local restaurant. Your budget, guest list, and desired theme will play a big role in narrowing down your venue options.

Engagement Party Decor

Like any pre-wedding party, there are a variety of directions you can take your theme. Whether you’re planning a laid back, at-home party or a more elegant celebration, there are decorations fit for every style and budget. Think balloons, banners, and even photo backdrops!

Here are a few of our favorite decor items:

Sending Out Invitations

If you want to send invitations through the mail, send them out three to six weeks before your party. This will give guests proper notice and will also give you time to sort out the small details in advance. After receiving the finalized RSVP list, you’ll be able to better estimate the amount of food and drinks you’ll need to provide.

Engagements Gifts

Not sure about the etiquette regarding gifts? You’re not alone. It can be confusing. But, gifts are not typically given during an engagement party, and this is something you should note on your invitations.

Junebug tip:

Though it’s not required, some guests may still choose to bring “congratulations” gifts. If you or the hosts receive a gift, thank them quietly and tuck them away. This will prevent those who arrive empty-handed from being embarrassed.

Engagement Party Outfits

Want to rock an all-white ensemble? You should. Dreaming of a pop of color moment? Do it. No matter what you wear, make sure it’s equally stylish and comfortable. It’s also important to keep in mind the season—spring, summer, fall, and winter—and the chosen venue.

Casual Engagement Party Outfit Ideas

Formal Engagement Party Outfit Ideas

Now that you’ve properly celebrated your engagement, it’s time to find a wedding photographer and schedule those engagement photos. Start by checking out our directory or top wedding photographers from around the world, pick out a location, and hunt down the perfect engagement outfit

COVID-19 made us press pause on a variety of 2020 plans, but we’re here to help you fast forward to an unforgettable virtual bachelorette party! While it may not involve a trip to Cabo with the girls, these virtual bachelorette party ideas are full of fun bonding experiences to quench the connection you’ve been craving in quarantine.

Our 10 virtual bachelorette party ideas include:

  • Home Spa Day
  • Virtual Wine Tasting
  • Online Workshop or E-Course
  • Chick Flick Costume Party
  • Trivia Night
  • Virtual Tarot Reading
  • Craft Party
  • Interactive Cooking Show
  • Virtual Dance or Yoga Class
  • Decades Dance Party

Read on for all our tips to pull off these quarantine bachelorette parties along with some fun favor picks from the Junebug team!

1. Home Spa Day

Isn’t what we all need right now a little rest and relaxation? While a day at the spa may not be on the agenda, a home spa day will be a welcomed way to celebrate in quarantine! The Maid of Honor can ship each “guest” a few beauty and wellness essentials, queue up some relaxing tunes, and lead the group in their new beauty routine.

Shop some of our home spa favorites: DIY Gel Nail Kit ($62.99); Assorted Face Masks ($22); Skincare Headbands 9 Pack ($14.99); Moisturizing Foot Mask Pack ($25.99); Jade Roller ($14.95); Beauty Refrigerator ($60) — this would be a great gift for the bride!

2. Virtual Wine Tasting + Home Wine Tour

Wine tasting is a classic bachelorette party activity and one you can totally do from home! To recreate the experience, send everyone a wine tasting flight sampler kit and a few bottles of your favorite vinos. Some wineries are even providing wine kits to make the experience virtual, so look into your favorite local wineries for their current offerings. Looking to spice up the occasion? Do a home wine “tour” where guests drink a different win in each room of the house and every room is assigned a topic of conversation. For instance, the living room prompt could be favorite movies from your childhood and the bathroom prompt could be bath vs. shower. Drink up!

3. Group Workshop or E-Course

Learning a new skill together as a group can be a fun bonding experience that sticks with you for years to come. World-renowned artists, writers, and leaders in a variety of industries share their expertise in easy-to-follow virtual courses on platforms like Skillshare and MasterClass.

Here are some of our favorite classes being offered on Skillshare right now:

4. Chick Flick Costume Party

Lean into the theme of sisterhood and do a virtual watch party of the bride’s favorite chick flick! Every guest can dress up as her favorite leading lady, like Cher from Clueless, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, Regina George from Mean Girls, or Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries. Pro tip: have everyone set the movie to the exact same second and then hit play. Also ask everyone to mute their video chat unless they have funny commentary so the sound of the movie isn’t playing through everyone’s speakers.

5. Trivia Night

Looking to step up the Zoom game night? Plan a trivia night that’s specific to your bride and all her favorite things! To really personalize the experience, you can create a Jeopardy-style game with categories based on the bride’s own life. Not feeling confident in your trivia-making abilities? Look for a trivia game for her favorite TV show and throw a themed party around it!

P.S. Check out these cute virtual backgrounds by Zoom!

Some of our favorite TV show trivia games: Friends Trivia Game ($9.99); The Office Trivia Game ($31); Sex and the City Trivia Game ($22.90); Parks and Recreation Trivia Game ($10)

6. Virtual Tarot Reading

Is your crew a little “woo woo” these days? Hire your favorite tarot reader to do a virtual reading for the group and learn what the future has in store according to the cards.

Thinking about learning tarot on your own or want to gift your guests their own deck? Check out our favorite decks: OK Tarot: The Simple Deck for Everyone ($34.95); The Wild Unknown Tarot Deck and Guidebook ($23.83); The Modern Witch Tarot Deck ($22.46); Mystic Mondays Tarot: A Deck for the Modern Mystic ($18.31); The Starseed Oracle: A 53-Card Deck and Guidebook ($22.49)

7. Craft Party

Break out the scissors and glue — it’s time to get crafty! Whether you go DIY Painting with a Twist and paint tipsy portraits of the bride or make something you can all hang in your home (hello, built-in party favors!) like a wall hanging or macramé plant hanger. P.S. This could also be a great way to help your bride knock out some wedding DIYs!

Shop our favorite DIY kits: Small Weaving Loom Kit ($32.99); DIY Macrame Wall Hanging Pattern with Supplies ($29.29); Sunset Embroidery Kit ($29.25);  DIY Macramé Plant Hanger Kit for Beginners ($28.50); Cacti Embroidery Kit for Beginners ($16)

8. Interactive Cooking Show

Is one of your friends an excellent cook? Make them the host of their very own cooking show! Send an ingredient list for a dinner dish or dessert to your guests and have the “chef” walk everyone through the steps to make it via video. Everyone gets to learn to make something new in their own kitchen and enjoy the dish afterward! Bonus: Check to see if your local caterers are offering virtual cooking classes so you can learn from an expert!

Looking for a few favors to send your guests? Here are some pretty kitchen essentials we love: Rose Gold Measuring Cup and Spoon Set ($24.97); Rose Gold Whisk ($12.99); Cute Spoon Rest ($26); Patterned Spatulas ($10); Floral Apron ($32)

9. Virtual Yoga or Dance Class

Buds who sweat together, stay together — even virtually! Have you ever wanted to learn the choreography to your favorite Ariana Grande song? You can all learn it together using a YouTube video via screenshare over a video call. Yoga more your speed? Corepower Yoga is offering their classes online for free and there are tons of YouTube yogis (we love Yoga with Adriene!) you can use to find a class that fits everyone’s skill level. California Desert Dinner Party Wedding at The Lautner

August 4, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Blaire and Jordan’s laid-back wedding at The Lautner had all the charm of the Palm Springs desert and mid-century modern vibes from the venue, which combined for a truly dreamy day! The couple left no detail unattended and made sure everything from the taco bar to the high-energy music to the Polaroid photos of guests they displayed around the venue helped the guests feel welcome, special, and totally loved. We love how they managed to create a cozy dinner party look and feel with understated table settings and blush and white florals designed by The Lavender Rose that complemented both the romance of the desert and the mid-century modern design of the venue. We also love how Blaire let her gorgeous Marchesa be the stand-out element of her bridal look by adding minimal accessories and keeping her makeup and hair soft and natural. Let’s Frolic Together killed it in capturing every moment of this incredible Palm Springs wedding!

The Couple:

Blaire and Jordan

The Wedding:

The Lautner, Palm Springs, California

For us, it was all in the details. We wanted to be sure that every aspect of the day popped and stood out. From the cocktail napkins to the flowers, we tried to leave no stone unturned. While planning, I was constantly trying to put myself in the guests’ shoes. I really wanted it to be a special and most importantly, an incredibly fun experience for everyone who attended. It was also really important to us that everyone attending was well taken care of. We secured multiple room blocks early, reserved round-trip shuttles for our guests, and made sure to include all of our wedding details on a website.

My husband and I are both Southern California Natives and currently live in the Bay Area, so we decided that Palm Springs would be a perfect place to bring everyone together. I discovered our venue, the Lautner, while researching rental spaces in the California desert. It was perfect in every way and exactly what Jordan and I had envisioned. The moment we stepped foot on the property for our site visit, we both knew it was perfect. I instantly started planning every detail and envisioning our wedding day in my head. It was perfect!

To personalize our ceremony, we wrote our own vows, which was our way of expressing our most intimate feelings, wants and needs in front of 200 people. Having our wedding party standing up there with us also felt like a way of displaying our closest friends from our many different walks of life. Lastly, my younger brother officiated the ceremony which was personal to me and Jordan, since he is a best friend to both of us.

In the months leading up to the wedding, we carried a Polaroid camera around with us and took candid shots of our friends and family. On the day of the wedding, we displayed them all around the venue for our guests to see. It was a fun little Easter egg to include!

Our photographer, Jasmine, was incredible. I am very camera shy, and she made me feel so comfortable! Jasmine has an effortless ability that made us feel like we’d known her our whole lives, almost like a sister or best friend. She got all of the shots and captured things that we didn’t get to see in person. It was hard to say goodbye to her!

We wanted the day to be fun, easy and laid back not only for us but for everyone in attendance. Jordan and I love hosting people in our home, so we saw our wedding as an extension of this. We wanted a “dinner party followed by an epic dance party” vibe, and I think we managed to pull it off, thanks to our amazing caterer and DJs!

This Lush Romantic Scottsdale Wedding was Like a Desert Garden Party

July 27, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

With flowers and vines this sumptuous, it’s hard to believe Paty and Justin’s Scottsdale wedding actually took place in a desert! From the overgrown design of the ceremony arch to the crawling ivy anchored with flowers on the cake table, Carte Blanche Design used vibrant coral, peach, cream, and blush blooms to add unbelievable dimension and elegance to the private estate venue. The rest of their decor was understated but elegant, with neutral linens and rose gold accents adding a hint of color without taking away from the inherent beauty of the outdoor landscape. The bride shined in a lovely lace Watters gown and, in keeping with the rest of the floral design, her free-form bouquet of large, vibrant blooms was one of the most stunning we’ve seen! Alexandra Loraine Photography truly captured the beauty and the intimacy of this exceptional Scottsdale wedding.

The Couple:

Paty and Justin

The Wedding:

Private Estate, Scottsdale, Arizona

There are obviously a lot of important factors that went into our wedding, but making sure the guests we invited were people who we truly wanted to be there, was the most important aspect of planning. We wanted to find that fine balance between keeping it romantic enough for us and making our guests welcome and comfortable for such an intimate occasion.

From the groom: For me, the most memorable part of the day was definitely when I saw her for the first time. In the months leading up to that moment I had been thinking of what she would look like, but I was clearly not prepared when she came into sight and I saw exactly whom I was marrying. It’s a moment I get to have forever.

Working with Alex on the day of couldn’t have been any easier! Alex’s bubbly personality and her hype skills made it so easy to be comfortable in front of the camera. It’s impossible to feel nervous when you have Alex on the other side of the camera singing praises to how incredible you look! Alex really captured the essence of our wedding. I look back at our photos, and I relive the moment in my head. Her work is incredible!

We chose to get married at a family estate in Arizona; the estate was lush, romantic, and the perfect place for a celebration. Venues can easily eat up a chunk of the budget so we opted to use that money on other important aspects (i.e. photographer, videographer, food). Having our wedding here also gave us the freedom to be creative with vendors and make our day magical!

From the bride: The most memorable part of the night, by far, was our first dance. We danced to Frank Sinatra’s version of “Moonlight Serenade” in the dusk glow. It was a magical day and we got to hold each other at that moment under the stars in front of our closest family and friends… you could feel the love!
