The florals in this editorial were stunning! Pink roses and delicate gypsophila adorned the archway canopy and dining table, enhancing the breathtaking view. Our bride wore three stunning gowns: a dramatic cape and puff sleeves by Kimberely Stone Atelier for most of the celebration, including the boat ride and rooftop views; a unique lace dress with a corset by Liz Martinez Bridal for the ceremony, paired with a vintage veil; and a dazzling glitter dress by Gibson Bespoke for the evening. She accessorized with feathered Bella Belle heels and pearlescent earrings. The groom started with a casual white shirt and black trousers for the boat, then switched to a sophisticated black tie suit, beginning with a white jacket and ending with a classic black version for the evening.

The Diamond Rock is a luxurious Santorini wedding spot perched on the Caldera Cliffs in Oia, offering stunning ocean views in a serene, private setting. Beautifully Rainy and Remote Campo Imperatore Elopement

September 15, 2024 | justine

Gabrielė and Tadas wanted to create and enjoy an intimate experience that felt natural in its setting and atmosphere. They are drawn to the outdoors and cherish quiet, wholesome moments. They envisioned a location that felt almost random, like an unexpected stop along a road trip—a hidden gem rather than a major attraction. In their home country of Lithuania, much of the outdoors has this unassuming beauty. With the help of their photographer and Junebug vendor, In Bianco e Nero, who shared their vision for something natural, intimate, and remote, they found the perfect spot. This random turn off the road became the heart of their Campo Imperatore elopement, and they pulled it off beautifully.

Under gray skies and a misty atmosphere that heightened the moody, ethereal vibe, the breathtaking landscape set the perfect stage for this one-of-a-kind celebration. The warm tones and textures of their picnic setup, paired with the couple’s stylish yet relaxed attire, blended seamlessly with the natural beauty of the surroundings, creating a truly magical experience.

This remote Campo Imperatore elopement is a beautiful example of how nature, love, and simplicity come together perfectly. These stunning images will inspire you and fill your heart with love.

The Couple:

Gabrielė and Tadas

The Wedding:

Sextantio Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Province of L’Aquila, Italy

Celebrating Their Big Day with a Focus on Outdoors and Quiet Moments

As we planned our wedding, we decided to have two events: a private destination vow exchange just for us and a small official ceremony in Lithuania with our parents, relatives, and friends. We wanted the vow exchange to be intimate and natural, reflecting how we feel and where we are. Since we both love the outdoors and quiet moments, we chose to celebrate our day in a way that felt true to us.

How Their Campo Imperatore Elopement Came To Be

We began our research by looking for inspiration on social media, mainly Pinterest and Instagram. Gradually, we were drawn to warmer colors and remote outdoor locations. We wanted our spot to feel almost random, like a surprise stop on a road trip—something not widely known but charming. In Lithuania, many outdoor places have this natural beauty with green forests and lakes that change with the seasons. We chose Italy for our destination because we loved its natural scenery, especially the mountainous regions that reminded us of home. We also planned to explore more of Italy after our vow exchange, as it was a country we both wanted to see more of.

Planning the Day with the Right Team

As we refined our search on Pinterest and Instagram, we began looking into photographers and planners. We came across some photos from our future photographers and decided to reach out. We were immediately drawn to their energy and personalities. They felt like the perfect fit, so we didn’t look any further. They helped us choose a location and plan the rest of our special day.

How Their Photos Bring Back Memories

Looking back on the day, the feelings stand out the most. The photos bring back memories and emotions from the day, from the nerves and butterflies to the rain and free-spirited vibe. Everything felt natural, organic, and intimate. The unexpected rain was like the perfect touch, washing away any tension and highlighting our smiles and love for each other.

Trusting Your Instincts for Your Special Day

Trust your gut, heart, or instincts—whatever you want to call it. Pay attention to how you feel, follow that inner voice, and plan the desired experience rather than focus on what others think or want. Each relationship is unique, so make this moment your own, just as you envision it. Don’t overextend yourself; keep your planning simple and focus more on what feels right rather than just being logical.

Personalizing their Campo Imperatore Elopement Ceremony to Reflect Their Love Story

We kept it simple because that’s who we are. We love being in nature and spending time together, whether walking on trails or diving into frozen lakes. Our experiences taught us that simple, ordinary moments bring us the most joy. That’s how we personalized our ceremony. The universe added a special touch with a bit of rain.

Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner Before Hiring

September 14, 2024 | kailey
Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner

Image by Vlasta Weddings. Wedding planned by Dubrovnik Luxury Weddings.

When starting the wedding planning journey, many couples believe they can tackle the challenge on their own. While this might seem manageable at first, it can quickly become overwhelming. The good news is, you don’t have to do it alone. That’s why the first task on your wedding planning checklist should be to hire a wedding planner. With their expertise, they’ll guide you in the right direction, offer invaluable advice, and save you time—making this investment a no-brainer.

Your planner will play an important role in your planning process and on the special day. That’s why your choice of planners shouldn’t be taken lightly. You want to ensure you’re hiring someone with loads of experience, a great reputation, and a personality that’s compatible with yours. But how can you determine these things before actually working with them? The interview process, of course!

When meeting with potential planners, coming ready with a list of questions allows you to make the most of your face-to-face time. Not sure what questions to ask? We’ve recruited help from wedding professionals providing you tips for hiring vendors, along with the essential questions to ask a wedding planner before making your decision.

Qualifications To Look For When Choosing a Wedding Planner

1. Robust Portfolio

When choosing wedding vendors, don’t forget to dive into their portfolios. Elora Danen Photography says, “Couples should look for a wedding planner with a robust portfolio that showcases diverse styles and venues, along with positive testimonials and references from past clients.” While scrolling through their Instagram is a start, exploring their complete portfolio offers a deeper insight into their style and versatility across various settings.

2. Organizational Skills

Ultimately, you’re hiring a planner to help pull off your dream wedding. This requires a lot of organization. That’s why Elora Danen Photography advises couples to hire a wedding planner who “excels in managing multiple tasks, timelines, and vendors efficiently, keeping everything organized and on schedule.” This is essential for ensuring a smooth planning process and flawless execution on your wedding day.

3. Exceptional Communication

The initial communication with potential planners offers insight into what working with them will be like. Are their responses slow, often requiring follow-ups days after their reply policy? You might want to pass. Elora Danen Photography says that “exceptional communication skills are vital for understanding and executing the couple’s vision, ensuring a seamless and stress-free wedding day.”

4. Refined Eye for Detail

When choosing a wedding planner, The Art & Romance says, “Couples should look for someone with a refined eye for detail and a deep understanding of design.” Having “extensive experience in planning events and a strong portfolio of unique, personalized weddings” combined with a keen eye for design will greatly benefit your planning process. They’ll manage the logistics and provide valuable advice on decor and fashion.

5. Large Network and Connections in the Wedding Industry

“A planner’s connections with top-tier vendors and their ability to navigate any challenges with grace are also invaluable assets in ensuring your day is flawless and unforgettable.” This is a great point from The Art & Romance. A wedding planner is one of the first vendors you’ll work with, and they’ll be able to use their network to suggest other vendors that match your style and budget

6. Has a Well Trained Team

Dubrovnik Luxury Weddings wants couples to realize how important it is “that there is a well-trained team behind the wedding planner they choose and it is not just one person, so everything is spot on.” A team of professionals provides a higher level of expertise and hands-on support throughout the planning process.

Advice For Couples Interviewing Potential Wedding Planners

1. Hire a Planner Who Has Experience with Similar Weddings

Elora Danen Photography says, “It’s crucial to choose a planner who has experience with the type of wedding they envision, whether it’s a large traditional ceremony or an intimate elopement.”

2. Ensure You “Click”

While vendor experience and qualifications are crucial, they’re not the only factors to consider. According to Dubrovnik Luxury Weddings, it’s also essential that you “click” and understand each other. When your personalities mesh, it makes your working relationship better, ensuring you feel heard and confident that they can bring your vision to life.

3. Find Someone Who Listens to You

Again, their portfolio and skills aren’t the only things you should be focusing on when choosing vendors. At the end of the day, it’s your day. It’s important that you feel heard throughout your planning process, especially by your planner. The Art & Romance agrees that “it’s important to find someone who listens intently to your vision and has the creative expertise to bring it to life in a way that feels both authentic and extraordinary.”

“The connection you feel with your planner is crucial, as they will be your partner in crafting a day that reflects your love story with elegance and artistry. Communication and trust are key, so choose someone who listens intently, inspires confidence, and is genuinely excited to bring your dreams to life.”

4. Ensure They Work Well With Other Vendors

When interviewing potential wedding planners, the most important piece of advice Elora Danen Photography can give is “to ensure they are not only a good fit for you personally but also work well with all your vendors, especially photographers. A wedding planner’s ability to collaborate effectively with vendors is crucial for creating a seamless and harmonious wedding day experience. Look for someone who is open to communication and collaboration, as this will ensure that everyone is on the same page and your wedding vision is brought to life. Trust your instincts and choose a planner who understands your style, listens to your ideas, and shows genuine enthusiasm for your special day. This connection will make the planning process more enjoyable and ensure that your wedding reflects who you are as a couple.”

5. Hire Someone That Understands Your Vision

During the hiring process, it’s important to get an understanding of who the planner is and what their experience is. They could have the most incredible portfolio, but if they don’t understand your vision, you’ll end up with a wedding day that feels nothing like you. That’s why you’ll also want to reserve time to discuss your ideas and expectations.

The Art & Romance’s “most important piece of advice is to ensure that your chosen planner truly understands your unique vision and has the creative ability to elevate it into an unforgettable experience. Look for someone who not only has an impeccable portfolio and a keen eye for detail but also deeply resonates with your aesthetics and values.”

6. Verify Their Experience with Real Wedding Photos

Vendors often share a mix of their work and inspiration photos they’ve sourced for clients. However, to truly gauge their experience, Dubrovnik Luxury Weddings advises couples to “check out their Instagram page and make sure they advertise with weddings they did, not just posting photos from weddings someone else did, in the sense of wedding inspiration.” This will give you a clearer picture of their actual work and style.

Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner Before Hiring

1. Logistical Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner

First, start by asking logistical questions. Tackling these must-ask questions first will give you more time to discuss the fun, creative details regarding your wedding. Plus, it will help you determine if the planner is available on your date, fits within your budget, and has packages or services you’ll need.

  • Are you available on my wedding date?
  • Have you worked at my specific venue before?
  • How many weddings have you planned?
  • Have you planned weddings similar to mine?
  • What services do you offer?
  • What is included in your fee?
  • Do you have a preferred vendor list?
  • Do you require a deposit? How much?
  • What is your cancellation policy?

2. Personal Questions

You want to have a general understanding of who a vendor is before hiring them. That’s why you’ll want to take the time to ask some personal questions about who they are and how they get into wedding planning. This allows you to connect on a deeper level. Here are a few personal questions to consider asking:

  • Why do you enjoy planning weddings?
  • What’s your favorite part of planning a wedding?
  • How do you handle stress during the planning process and on the wedding day?
  • Can you share a memorable wedding experience you’ve had and why it stood out to you?
  • How do you balance your personal life and work, especially during wedding season?
  • What makes you excited about potentially working on our wedding?

3. Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner About Their Approach

As a wedding photographer, Elora Danen Photography loves when “couples show a genuine interest in how [she] works and are invested in the outcome of their big day.” She loves it when clients “ask about my approach to working with other vendors, especially the wedding planner, as it demonstrates their understanding of the importance of collaboration and allows me to explain how I coordinate with other vendors for a smooth experience on the wedding day.”

Here are some questions to ask that will give you a clear picture of a wedding planner’s approach, ensuring that you choose someone who aligns with your needs and preferences.

  • Can you walk me through your planning process from start to finish?
  • How would you incorporate our unique story and preferences into the design?
  • What steps do you take to ensure our wedding truly reflects who we are?
  • How do you find the inspiration for each event?
  • What’s your approach to problem-solving if something doesn’t go as planned?
  • How do you collaborate with other vendors, and what is your role in coordinating them?
  • How flexible are you with changes or last-minute requests?
  • What’s your approach to working with couples who have strong opinions or differing ideas?

2. Wedding Planning Facebook Groups

You’re not alone during the wedding planning process. There are many who have done it before you and those who are currently planning that can help you along the way. That’s why Elora Danen Photography recommends couples to join and connect with those “in wedding planning and soon-to-be bridal groups! There are a lot of great connections out there that can help brides find the wedding planner (and vendors) that are the right fit for their big day!”

3. Reviews From Previous Clients

Reviews and testimonials are free and public resources that couples should absolutely take advantage of. While they should be the driving force on whether you work with a vendor or not, they will give you good insight as to what it’s like working with them. Dubrovnik Luxury Weddings also says that there should be at least 30+ from different couples.

4. Utilize Video Conferencing Tools

Much of your communication with vendors will happen over the phone or email. While meeting in person might not always be possible, it’s crucial to get as close as possible to face-to-face during the hiring process. Rather than choosing your planner off an email, The Art & Romance suggests couples “leverage video conferencing tools like Zoom or Google Meet, especially if you’re working with a planner remotely. This ensures everyone is on the same page.”

A wedding planner is an important vendor to have on your team, but we understand that it can be a big expense. If you’re still deciding if hiring a wedding planner is worth it, we’ve got you covered. After reading these major benefits of working with a planner, you’ll be sold on investing in a wedding planner for your big day.

This Adventurous Yosemite Elopement Was a Nod to the Beginning of the Couple’s Relationship

September 13, 2024 | justine

Madhura and Veer’s adventurous Yosemite elopement began with a funny twist. In 2018, while hiking Lower Yosemite Falls, Veer fell and broke his elbow, leading him to stay with Madhura for a month. During that time, they realized they were in love. As photographers, they returned to Yosemite many times, and one night, while watching a meteor shower from Glacier Point, they imagined their wedding under the stars. That vision became reality on their big day—the peak night of the meteor shower—making their elopement truly magical.

With the iconic El Capitan as their backdrop, they exchanged vows in the valley. Just as the ceremony ended, it began to rain—adding a touch of good luck to their day! Instead of letting it dampen their spirits, they embraced the moment and had their first dance in the rain. Later, they headed to Glacier Point for sunset photos, where they were greeted by thunderstorms that made for some incredible wedding shots. They chose this day mainly to witness a meteor shower, but with cloudy skies, their hopes were low. However, as they reflected on the day’s events, the sky cleared, revealing an amazing star show just for them.

From the bride’s classic yet sophisticated dress and the groom’s distinctive brown suit to the earthy tones of the wedding party and the organic, locally sourced guest favors, every element harmonized with the mountain setting and the natural colors of one of the most breathtaking locations in the U.S. Captured beautifully by Dani Purington, these photos will inspire you to start your new life together with a truly unforgettable adventure.

The Couple:

Madhura and Veer

The Wedding:

Yosemite National Park, California, United States

DIY Magic and Heartfelt Moments at Their Adventurous Yosemite Elopement

We had two weddings; one was this elopement, and another was an Indian wedding in Jaipur, India. Since we already have a huge planning team for our Indian wedding, we thought it would be so cool if we did everything by ourselves for this elopement. I DIYed and curated locally sourced wedding favors. Our officiant was my childhood best friend. She crafted such a personal and moving ceremony that blew us away. We wrote our own vows, and reciting those vows to one another under El Capitan was incredibly touching. Our friends, who are also photographers Anindita, Neeraj, and Rahul, captured all the photos and videos this entire weekend. Our photographer for the ceremony was Dani Purington. I have been following her for so long that I knew only she could do justice to capturing the aesthetics and emotions we wanted for this special day. Our friends Nikhil and Saarish played and sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” for Veer’s entry. I had selected my wedding entry song ever since I was a kid. I entered to my Maid of Honor Anindita singing “Thousand Years” while our friend Manny played the guitar live.

Handcrafted Invitations and Meaningful Details

Our invites were extra special as they were made by an artist, especially for our big day. All the paintings in the invite were made from the pictures we’ve taken in Yosemite over the years. We used to write each other handwritten letters during our long-distance relationship. That’s why we incorporated that fun routine into our invites. It also had a postcard, which guests had to mark yes or no for their RSVP and mail to the couple. Our wedding cake was made by a local Yosemite baker who matched it perfectly to our color palette. Our vows books were customized with Yosemite Peaks designs. My wedding shoes had this written on them – “something blue, something borrowed, something old, something new,” an old custom that brings the couple good luck.

How Nature Shaped Their Adventurous Yosemite Elopement

We chose a cozy cabin nestled in the valley, surrounded by forest, to spend the weekend with our closest 20 friends. Though we meticulously planned every minute, nature had its own surprises. Our elopement day began with an incredible sunrise over the mountains, leading to an afternoon ceremony. Dramatic clouds rolled in just before we exchanged vows, but the light remained beautiful. The moment the ceremony ended, rain began to fall—bringing us good luck. Instead of letting it dampen our spirits, we embraced the moment, sharing our first dance in the rain. When we arrived at Glacier Point for sunset photos, we were met with thunderstorms that made for some epic wedding shots. Then, out of nowhere, a huge rainbow appeared over Half Moon Bay—a rare and surreal blessing. Just when we thought the show was over, nature delivered one last spectacle: a stunning sunset with vibrant oranges and pinks, painting Yosemite in a fiery glow. We chose this date mainly to witness a meteor shower, but the cloudy skies had dimmed our hopes. However, as we reflected on the day, the sky cleared, revealing an unforgettable starry night. We watched hundreds of meteors streak across the sky from our Airbnb, with the Milky Way arching above us. It was truly the most magical day we could have imagined.

Starting Their Journey with a Symbolic Olive Tree Ceremony

From the beginning, we were clear that our wedding should reflect “us” and that we should do customs and rituals that make sense to us and not just follow social norms. Given our love for plants, we chose one symbolic ceremony to start this new journey with. We planted an olive tree on our elopement day, eventually finding its home in our backyard. The Olive Tree is often referred to as “the tree of eternity” due to its evergreen canopy and ability to thrive in all conditions, living for hundreds of years; the average age of the Olive Tree is 800 years old. Like this olive tree, we hope our love flourishes and lasts for eternity.

Planning with Purpose for a Unique Elopement

We wanted our elopement to be intimate, so planning was relatively straightforward. However, we took the time to add meaningful details, which made the process more involved. My advice is to prioritize what matters most to you as a couple and allocate your budget accordingly. While others may offer budgeting advice, it’s ultimately a personal decision. For example, instead of focusing our budget on the venue and decorations, we chose to elope in a national park and invested in a great photographer and memorable experiences. Be ready for the unexpected—when it rained on our wedding day, we embraced it and had our first dance in the rain. Planning every detail ourselves made the experience more fulfilling, especially with our bridal and groom parties involved in the execution. It created a homely and heartwarming atmosphere, allowing us to spend quality time with our friends throughout the wedding weekend. We wanted a unique experience for both our wedding day and night, so we chose a date during the peak of the meteor shower season. We watched thousands of meteors over Yosemite with all our guests that night, making it an unforgettable experience.

25 Old Hollywood Wedding Ideas to Help You Step Back in Time

September 9, 2024 | riley
old hollywood wedding ideas hero

More and more couples are looking to host timeless celebrations that will never go out of style–think looking at your wedding photos 20 years later and still loving every detail. That’s why the Old Hollywood theme has become so popular over the past year or so. With glamorous touches that are all about luxury, elegance, and a touch of drama, this celebration will wow your guests from the minute they arrive. So, if you’re thinking about hosting an old-fashioned soiree, we’re breaking down 25 ideas that will help your guests step back in time.

25 Old Hollywood Wedding Ideas

1. Vintage Invitations

Your invitations are the first glimpse guests will have of your wedding, so it’s the perfect time to incorporate your theme. Opt for invitations that evoke the era with Art Deco patterns, elegant fonts, and luxurious materials like foil-stamped paper or vellum overlays. To go the extra mile, consider including RSVP cards styled as movie tickets or vintage postcards, complete with black-and-white illustrations of your venue or a glamorous portrait of you and your partner.

Shop Invitations: Vintage Art Nouveau Wedding Invitation Template; 2. Old Money Wedding Invitation Suite; 3. Editable Black Wavy Wedding Invitation Template; 4. Retro Wedding Invitation Template

2. Glamorous Venue

When you’re searching for your venue, look for locations with historical significance, art deco architecture, or opulent interiors that evoke the glamour of the 1920s to 1950s. Historic theaters, old mansions, and grand ballrooms with crystal chandeliers, gilded mirrors, and marble floors are all perfect choices. Of course, you can always bring decor in if the venue doesn’t check those boxes. However, the more your venue has, the less you’ll spend on rentals.

3. Monochrome Color Scheme

A black-and-white color palette is the definition of timeless. To keep things dynamic, include textures like velvet, satin, and lace. For example, black tablecloths paired with white floral arrangements and gold or silver flatware can create an elegant tablescape. You can also incorporate subtle accents of metallics, shades of red, or even blush pinks to soften the overall look while maintaining the theme’s sophistication.

4. Marquee Signage

Nothing says “Hollywood” like your name in lights. Create custom marquee-style signage to display outside your venue, at the entrance to your reception, or as a focal point behind the sweetheart table. You could even go so far as to replicate the look of a classic movie theater marquee, complete with changeable letters to spell out your names, wedding date, or a romantic message.

5. Vintage Decor

Incorporate elements of old Hollywood into your décor by using vintage film reels, cameras, clapperboards, records, old hotel keys, etc. These can be used as centerpieces, displayed on escort card tables, or even integrated into your ceremony décor. You might also consider incorporating black-and-white movie stills or posters from your favorite classic films into your décor.

6. Tents

We know what you’re probably thinking. How are tents Old Hollywood? They’re common at every wedding and make for a great weather backup in case you’re tying the knot somewhere where there’s a high chance of rain or snow. However, there’s something about including tents and umbrellas that feels extremely timeless. They were very common in the 50s and 60s around the pool, which is why they’re perfect when trying to recreate these decades.

7. Hollywood Glam Bridal Attire

Channel your inner starlet with a wedding dress that reflects the glamour of the era. Look for gowns with luxurious fabrics like satin, silk, or lace, and details such as intricate beading, sequins, or feather accents. If there’s a gown that you have your eye on that is not necessarily as retro as you’d like, you can opt for a reception dress that acts as a nod to the decades. Don’t forget to include classic touches like a veil, gloves, and drop earrings.

Shop reception dresses:

8. Tuxedo with a Classic Twist

For those looking to wear a suit, nothing says Old Hollywood like a classic tuxedo. Opt for a black tux with a bow tie for a timeless look, or consider a white dinner or double-breasted jacket for a more distinguished look.

9. Red Lipstick and Pin Curls

When it comes to beauty, a bold red lip is a great place to start. Paired with winged eyeliner and a flawless complexion, you can channel the glamour of stars like Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth. Hairstyles should also reflect the era—think polished pin curls, sleek finger waves, or glamorous updos adorned with sparkling hairpins or vintage combs.

10. Incorporate Pearls

Nothing embodies timelessness quite like pearls. Whether adorning your bridal gown, accessorizing your bridal party, or enhancing your décor, pearls bring a touch of vintage glamour to any wedding. Think classic pearl necklaces and delicate earrings. You can also include the stone in your decor.

Shop pearl accessories:

11. Cigarette Girls

Cigarette girls were a staple of nightclubs and theaters during the golden age of Hollywood. For a fun and interactive element at your wedding, hire actors or entertainers to dress as cigarette girls, complete with vintage uniforms and trays. Instead of cigarettes, they can offer guests cigars, candy, or even mini bottles of champagne. This adds a touch of authenticity to your theme and provides guests with a unique experience they’ll remember.

12. Cigar Bar

If you’re not into including cigarette girls, you can still include a cigar bar. Picture your guests enjoying a fine cigar paired with a glass of whiskey or a vintage cocktail. With vintage cigar boxes, custom labels, and plush seating, a cigar bar becomes more than just a feature—it’s an entertainment moment that your guests won’t be able to stop talking about.

13. Champagne Tower

A champagne tower has become a wedding staple. During the reception, pour champagne from the top glass, letting it cascade down the tower to fill the glasses below, making for the perfect photo opportunity.

14. Vintage Getaway Car

Make your exit as glamorous as your entrance by leaving in a vintage car. Classic models like a Rolls Royce, Bentley, or Cadillac are ideal for the theme, although you really can’t go wrong. Decorate the car with a “Just Married” sign and vintage-style cans tied to the bumper to really complete the look.

15. Old Hollywood Music

Music plays a crucial role in setting the mood for your wedding. A live jazz band or big band orchestra can transport your guests back to the golden age. For the ceremony, consider walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of a classic love song from the era. During cocktail hour or your dinner, create a playlist that includes the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nat King Cole to keep the vibe elegant and nostalgic.

16. Black Tie Dress Code

Encourage your guests to dress the part by setting a black-tie dress code. This not only adds to the overall ambiance of your wedding but also ensures that everyone looks their best. If you want to take it a step further, give them an assigned color (i.e., all black or red), to create a stunning, cohesive look. Just be sure to let them know ahead of time via your invites or website!

17. Dramatic Lighting

Lighting is key to creating a cinematic atmosphere at your wedding. Soft, romantic lighting can be achieved with chandeliers, uplighting, and an abundance of candles. Consider using gold or amber lighting to cast a warm, flattering glow over your venue, or add a bit of drama with spotlights highlighting key areas like the dance floor or sweetheart table.

18. Checkered Dance Floor

This iconic black-and-white design will instantly make your guests think of the glamorous ballrooms back in the day. The bold contrast of the checkered pattern is not only stunning (and makes for incredible photos) but also sets the stage for an unforgettable night of dancing

19. Vintage Photo Booth

A photo booth with a vintage twist is a must-have. Set up a booth with a black-and-white camera to capture the glamour of the era. Provide props like fedoras, feather boas, faux cigars, and vintage props for guests to pose with. These photos are fun keepsakes for your guests and a unique addition to your wedding album.

20. Typewriter Guest Book

This charming detail allows your guests to type out their well wishes and advice on an antique typewriter, creating a one-of-a-kind keepsake filled with heartfelt messages. Display the typewriter on a vintage desk with rolls of parchment or custom stationery, and let your guests type their hearts out.

21. Vintage Post Cards as a Guest Book Alternative

Whether featuring classic movie posters, iconic landmarks in the city where you’re tying the knot, or star-studded scenes, each postcard adds a touch of nostalgia to your big day. This unique guest book idea not only ties in perfectly with your theme but also leaves you with a cherished memento that you’ll love looking back on. This one does require a little more planning but hit up your local thrift or antique stores to collect them throughout the months leading up to your wedding.

22. Retro Signature Cocktails

Drinks like martinis, Manhattans, and Old Fashioneds are the perfect beverages to offer to your guests if you want to tie the theme into your food and drinks. For a personal touch, create a signature cocktail that reflects your personality or love story, and name it after something special to the two of you. To finish it off, display the cocktail menu in an art deco frame or on a marquee-style sign for added flair.

23. Vintage Inspired Glassware

We know that serving drinks in glassware isn’t practical for every wedding, but if you’re hosting a small celebration, consider serving drinks in vintage-inspired glassware–even if it’s just champagne toast in coupes. Serve your signature cocktails or bubbly in glassware that sparkles under the glow of chandeliers, enhancing the nostalgic atmosphere of your celebration.

24. Vintage Wedding Cake

When it comes to your wedding cake, go vintage with intricate lace-like piping, art deco patterns, and classic white-on-white designs. Opt for tiers adorned with pearls, delicate sugar flowers, or gilded accents that sparkle.

25. Hollywood Ending

End your wedding with a grand finale worthy of the silver screen. If your venue allows, a fireworks display can provide a breathtaking conclusion to your celebration, leaving your guests with memories of a wedding that felt like a scene from a classic Hollywood movie.

This Colorful Post Office Hotel Wedding Blended Egyptian and Australian Cultures

September 8, 2024 | justine

Marina and Grant’s Post Office Hotel wedding was a vibrant blend of their Egyptian and Australian heritages. They envisioned a celebration that combined tradition with modern flair, crafting a lively and colorful atmosphere for their guests. By honoring their diverse backgrounds and bringing their families together, they created an event that seamlessly fused cultural elements, resulting in a truly unforgettable day where everyone came together as one.

The day began with a beautiful church ceremony featuring a traditional Coptic crowning that honored Marina’s cultural heritage. This reverent start was perfectly balanced by a festive reception that let the couple’s personalities shine. They transformed the hotel’s dining hall into a colorful wonderland, with bright flowers on the tables and a striking streamer installation filling the ceiling. The result was a playful atmosphere that set the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

If you’re looking to add some vibrant personality to your big day, this wedding is just what you need for inspiration. Nikki McCrone captured every moment perfectly, making sure the lively and fun vibe of the day really shone through.

The Couple:

Marina and Grant

The Wedding:

Post Office Hotel, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Creating an Intimate and Relaxed Atmosphere at Their Post Office Hotel Wedding

We wanted a fun venue where people could relax and enjoy the party. The Post Office Hotel was the perfect location because it offered great indoor and outdoor spaces while still feeling intimate enough to keep our guests close. It’s a beautiful building that doesn’t need many decorations. We love plants, and the Postie is full of them. It also suited our day’s plan perfectly—it was close to our church and had a front bar where our guests could gather and catch up before the reception officially got underway.

Thoughtful Details That Made Their Guests Feel Special

The personalized details we created for our guests came together beautifully. The place cards were small chocolate bars with customized wrappers that we designed ourselves. Each wrapper featured our guest’s name along with a little in-joke, pun, or memory we shared with them. We just wanted to put a smile on their faces, and it got people talking when they found their tables. We also provided a flier at the church explaining our ceremony’s traditional details and meanings. We wanted everyone, especially those unfamiliar with the church, to understand, appreciate, and feel involved in the ceremony. Other personalized touches included our welcome sign, which featured artwork of a matchbox because we met on Tinder, our seating chart with a lyric from our favorite band, and small cards with a QR code linking guests to a digital disposable camera app we set up so they could take and share photos. These small details really made the wedding feel like “ours.”

The Benefits of Collaboration and Organization in Wedding Planning

Planning a wedding while managing everyday life can be challenging, so we found using a very visual to-do list incredibly helpful. Our house had a large poster frame where we used sticky notes to track each task. We organized the notes into columns for things we needed to “decide on,” “book or organize,” “buy,” and “make.” It’s incredible how many small details pop up during wedding planning—whether you think of them at random times or they come up in conversations. Having a central place to jot down these tasks allowed us to use our planning time more effectively. Our other key advice is to plan your wedding together. You want the day to reflect you as a couple, so both partners should have a say in the details. It’s fun and ensures one person isn’t shouldering the load alone. Also, creating a shared email address for all wedding contacts was a lifesaver.

How They Adjusted Their Post Office Hotel Wedding Budget Without Compromising on Essentials

At the start of our planning, we discussed our budget and, fortunately, aligned closely on what we thought was reasonable. With the cost-of-living crisis impacting our planning, we had to make slight adjustments, which we had anticipated. Instead of cutting anything, we focused on finding ways to save money. Neither of us was interested in cars, so we skipped the limousine or classic car and opted for a spacious van that accommodated our entire bridal party. We also saved by designing our stationery and signage ourselves, a task we both enjoy. Additionally, we chose the POV disposable camera app as a more affordable and convenient alternative to physical disposable cameras. While we didn’t splurge on anything, we carefully organized our budget to ensure we could afford the photographer and videographer we wanted and prioritize food and drink.

Setting the Tone for Their Fun-Filled Reception with Middle Eastern Drummers

One moment we kept talking about after our wedding was our entrance to the reception, which flowed seamlessly into our first dance. We kicked things off with a performance by traditional Middle Eastern drummers. To blend our Egyptian and Australian cultures, we arranged for the drummers and band to do a bespoke performance of “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?” by Jet, which then transitioned into the traditional entry music. We had all our guests surround the dance floor to take in the performance, and our bridal party made a group entry rather than walking in pairs. This meant that when we entered, we were immediately surrounded by all our guests. They were also able to join us on the dance floor for our first dance with the drummers, which really helped kick off the night with a lot of energy. The whole thing lasted about 40 minutes! So many people came up to us afterward, telling us how loud, fun, and different it was. It was extraordinary to share that moment with everyone, setting the perfect tone for the fun reception we wanted.

Making Their Wedding an Extension of Their Big, Loud Families From Cocktails and Props to Late-Night Snacks

We wanted our wedding to truly reflect who we are as a couple and the vibrant nature of our families. Our families are big, loud, and welcoming, so we aimed for our wedding to be an extension of that spirit. We focused on elements that would enhance our guests’ enjoyment of the day—personal touches, dance floor props, and a selection of cocktails on arrival, including some virgin mixes for our pregnant friends. Since we love food and our families do, too, we made sure there was plenty of it. This included a sweet treat after the ceremony, extra meat and jugs of gravy with the main meals, three wedding cakes, and a sneaky late-night snack of chips and gravy on the dance floor.

Warm Desert Chic Fall Korakia Wedding

September 5, 2024 | kailey

Eleni and Daniel wanted their wedding to be anything but ordinary; they aimed for a celebration of everything they loved. With the venue and November’s ambiance setting the stage, they embraced a moody color scheme and a desert-chic style. Every detail was carefully planned with the help of Junebug vendor The Walk Down The Aisle, from the dark florals and candles to the unique decor and furniture, all coming together to make their Korakia wedding vision a reality.

They couldn’t have chosen a more perfect setting for their big day than the historic 1920s Moroccan hideaway. Surrounded by lush gardens, a serene fountain, and a Moorish archway serving as their altar, the courtyard offered a stunning backdrop for their vows. After the ceremony, they moved poolside for the reception, where guests were welcomed by beautiful tables adorned with lush floral arrangements and Edison bulb chandeliers hanging above each one. The setup seamlessly blended with the natural surroundings, adding to the enchantment of the event.

If you love the desert landscape and moody, sensual tones, then this is the perfect inspiration for you. Luckily, Let’s Frolic Together captured every detail and moment so you can swoon over it and pin it to your mood board.

The Couple:

Eleni and Daniel

The Wedding:

Korakia, Palm Springs, California, United States

Incorporating Personal Style into Their Big Day

I saw the Berta dress of my dreams, and nothing even came close. Everything was planned around the dress. I knew I wanted boots to bring in that desert vibe, and I came across these white Chanel boots that completed the look. Dan’s suit was timeless, and the accessories were special to him, making the look different from a typical wedding look. We both love fashion, and our styles came together for this day.

Two Highlights of Their Korakia Wedding: The Emotional First Look and a Cozy Retreat

We have two memorable moments. The first look was incredible; after postponing our wedding four times due to the pandemic and restrictions, it was the moment when everything finally felt real and exciting, like “we made it.” We were both so happy to see each other that we each got teary-eyed. Another special moment was before the first dance when we sneaked back to our room to share a cocktail and some small bites. We highly recommend this private moment amidst the exciting chaos of the day.

Keeping It Short and Sweet with a 20-minute Ceremony That Wowed

We wrote our own vows from scratch, and our officiant made his part truly unique to us by incorporating our families, dogs, and friends—it was incredibly special. We also knew that no one wanted to sit through a long ceremony, so we kept it to 20 minutes, which was the perfect length.

How Clear Communication with Loved Ones Can Simplify Wedding Planning

Set expectations with family and friends from the start. Share your goals for the day, where you’d like them to be involved, and where you’d prefer them to take a backseat. Doing this from the beginning ensured a drama-free planning process and allowed us to focus on what we wanted rather than what was expected.

Celebrating Their Korakia Wedding Their Way with Every Small Touch

We’re proud that we truly made the day our own. Having attended weddings that felt very traditional, we knew that wasn’t the right path for us. Despite family questioning many of our choices around decor, music, and more, we embraced our vision. The amazing thing about Korakia was that we worked with every vendor to perfect even the smallest details. We handpicked every element, from the music and food to the drinks, decor, and even the utensils. It may sound trivial, but each tiny detail came together perfectly to realize our vision. When we walked into the reception, it was exactly what we wanted. Our photographer even captured guests with their mouths dropped open at the sight of our celebration.

Palm Springs Charm and the Unique Appeal of Korakia

My husband and I love Palm Springs for its retro aesthetic, friendly locals, and beautiful homes—it’s such a cool place. Korakia Pensione was the first location on our list, and we put down the deposit within hours of seeing it. It’s such a special place; you’re transported out of California and into a Mediterranean locale. I didn’t get that “feeling” from any other venue.

Cozy “Boland Banquet” Diamant Estate Wedding

September 3, 2024 | justine

For Lara and Rohan, “When you know, you know” perfectly describes their Diamant Estate wedding. The moment they first saw the venue, they knew it was the right place for their big day. Despite the hall being in disarray from a previous event—red and gold chairs stacked up, scattered leaves, burnt-out candles, and confetti on the floor—they loved its abandoned, vintage charm. This sparked the theme “Boland Banquet,” which they brought to life with a royal color palette, sparkly decor, and vintage touches. Impressively, they DIYed everything themselves!

The ceremony took place in a stunning 1700s wine cellar converted into a chapel. It was beautiful on its own, with just a unique floral installation at the altar and petals along the aisle. For the reception, two long tables were decorated with gold accents, perfectly complementing the Cape Dutch-style interior. A unique touch was the couple blowing out candles instead of cutting a cake to mark the “birthday of their marriage.” For a fun midnight snack, McDonald’s Happy Meals were served on silver platters, with the toys used as decor.

If you want ideas on adding your personal touch to every part of your celebration for a unique theme, check out this wedding. The beautiful photos by Basque Imagery perfectly show their love story and the special day they designed.

The Couple:

Lara and Rohan

The Wedding:

Diamant Estate, Paarl, South Africa

Discovering the Boland Banquet Theme for Their Diamant Estate Wedding

The look came together when we first viewed the venue. After a wedding the night before, the staff were busy clearing everything. As we entered the hall, we saw red and gold movie-theater-like chairs stacked on top of each other (these chairs actually come with cream covers, so this was their bare form), a few fallen leaves, burnt-out candles, and scattered confetti on the floor. It looked like an abandoned show, and I loved it—lived-in, homely, a little vintage, and almost royal. That’s when the theme “Boland Banquet” was born. Paarl is located in Boland, and the “banquet” perfectly captured the elaborate feast we wanted for our wedding.

Childhood Tunes and a Magical Tango Moment During the Ceremony

When I walked into the ceremony, our live pianist played the wedding march on Rohan’s grandmother’s organ, wearing bright red shoes! We transported this special organ all the way to Diamant (it was quite a mission) because it was so sentimental. The musicians played soundtracks from our favorite childhood movies while the guests entered the chapel. The most unforgettable moment came when the musicians unexpectedly started playing the chorus of my favorite piece, “The Scent of a Woman Tango” by Itzhak Perlman, right after our kiss. It was one of the most profound moments of my life.

Celebrating Love, Not Putting on a Show

Remember, there’s no set recipe for this. It’s not a show; you don’t need to impress your guests or make the day run like a production. It’s a celebration of your love and your new life together. Just embrace it and go with the flow. Your guests are there because they love you, so don’t pressure yourself to create a picture-perfect event. Simply enjoy the best day of your life.

How Their Village Made Their Diamant Estate Wedding Extra Special

We DIYed EVERYTHING. We foraged, painted, glued, stitched, polished, tied, cut, pasted, and baked. To name a few: I made all the stationery, our family foraged the golden flowers, my mom baked the cake, our grandmothers sewed the napkins, and we crafted the boutonnieres from old fabric we found at home. Knowing the story behind every decor item and detail made the wedding even more special since we did it all ourselves. It was woven together by hands that I know and love. It truly takes a village, and I have one magnificent village.

Blowing Out Candles and Reliving Happy Meal Nostalgia

Instead of cutting a cake, we blew out candles to celebrate the “birthday” of our marriage! For our midnight snack, we had classic McDonald’s Happy Meals. Rohan and I served them on silver platters, using all our old McDonald’s toys from when we were kids as “decor” (yes, our moms saved them!).
