Boho Hotel Luna Mystica Elopement

July 1, 2022 | riley

After falling in love with the panoramic mountain views, unique retro campers, and starlit campgrounds of Hotel Luna Mystica, Jimilyn and Kelly decided to return a year later to elope. They took it as a sign to tie the knot at their favorite spot when their Junebug member Maggie Grace Photography was available to document their special day. Sharing a love for travel and adventure, they set out to make their dream elopement a reality in just a week!

With a fresh blanket of snow covering the landscape, the pair kicked off their big day with a fun snowy first dance in their matching sleep shirts. After changing into their effortlessly stylish wedding attire, the couple walked hand-in-hand down the aisle leading to the ceremony circle and stone pillars framing the mountains. They exchanged beautiful heartfelt vows just as the sun was setting behind them.

Because of the spontaneity, the couple pretty much DIY’d every aspect of their celebration—from the dried floral bouquet and boutonniere to the boho-themed tablescape for two at their camper reception. And it reflected their laid-back and carefree style perfectly. An elopement is the most romantic way to make it just about the two of you and every detail of Jimilyn and Kelly’s big day is proof of that. Scroll through these gorgeous photos captured by Junebug member Maggie Grace Photography. This Luna Mystica elopement will have you wanting to adventure to the nearest vintage trailer campground.

Why A Hotel Luna Mystica Elopement

Hotel Luna Mystica is a quaint little vintage RV park surrounded by the mountains of Taos. Each camper has its own unique personality and name. We stumbled upon this location when planning our first New Mexico trip in 2021 and absolutely fell in love with the homey, welcoming atmosphere and gorgeous mountain views right off our front porch. There is even a ceremony circle, including two large pillar stones and a circle of string lights. When we first saw this spot last year, we both looked at each other and knew we had to get married there.

Eloping Allowed Them To Share Intimate And Personal Vows Freely

The most memorable part of our whole elopement experience was how intimate our ceremony was. We chose to tell only close friends prior and to have no guests outside of our wedding day team. This allowed us to make our day perfect–exactly how we wanted it to be–without any pressure from others. We were able to read each other our own vows and make our unique promises to each other. It also allowed us to be more present in the moment by being able to leave everything from home behind.

Wedding Planning Advice: Create A Day That Truly Represents You And Your Partner

Wedding planning can be overwhelming, but don’t let yourselves lose sight of the most important aspect—celebrating your and your partner’s love for one another. There are no rules. This day is all about you. We are so proud that we eloped and planned every detail of our wedding, including 18 hours of travel in a week! There were a few mishaps, but all of our late nights of planning, crafting, and shopping honestly turned out so unbelievably perfect, and we could not have imagined it all happening any other way.

Junebug Member Maggie Grace Photography Was Their Dream Photographer

We had our dream photographer picked out for a while. Maggie made us feel so comfortable from the moment we met her. She also stayed in a camper on the grounds, close to us. The night Maggie arrived, she made sure to come to our camper for a drink and discuss wedding day plans. During our photography session, she genuinely made everything feel so natural. Some of the most intimate photos she captured were of us simply being ourselves in her presence, and she captured those moments beautifully. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect person to document our special day and definitely feel like we made a friend for a lifetime.

Handmade Details That Made The Elopement Experience Even More Special

Due to our spontaneity, just about every aspect of our wedding was DIY‘d. Before leaving for our trip, many late nights and early mornings consisted of crafting and creating. First, we went to a boutique plant shop with a pick-your-own dried floral bar. We brought home enough florals to make Kelly’s bouquet, my boutonniere, and the accent piece on my hat. We also designed and printed signs and a banner that perfectly fit our aesthetic to decorate our camper. One thing we were excited about was our intimate post-ceremony dinner. We thrifted the perfect dishes and created our place settings, including matching “bride and bride” place cards. It made for many special date nights being able to plan out and put our own decorations together.

Mattie’s Austin Garden Wedding

June 29, 2022 | riley

After changing their wedding plans four times due to the pandemic, Jamie and Jonny finally tied the knot and celebrated the way they wanted. Like many couples, it was a challenging wedding journey, but it was definitely worth the wait. With a dusty color palette, whimsical florals, and a modern fairytale vibe, the pair’s Mattie’s Austin garden wedding was filled with timeless and romantic details that uniquely reflected their personalities. And thanks to the expert guidance of their planner Jennifer of Pearl Events, they were able to maximize all the beautiful spaces the Victorian estate had to offer.

On the beautiful front lawn under ancient oak trees, the couple exchanged heartfelt vows, surrounded by their loved ones. Their ceremony featured a beautiful floral-lined aisle and arrangements on acrylic pillars created by Stems Floral + Event Design. Mismatched lamps, crawling greenery, and tablescapes filled with candles in glass cylinders and floral clusters greeted guests at the tented reception that followed. After dinner, they danced the night away to live music inside the farmhouse gallery.

It wasn’t just the dreamy vibe that made this garden wedding swoon-worthy but also the couple’s stylish attire. While the groom rocked his classic suit paired with a bolo tie, the bride changed from her chic slip dress and sheer gloves into a short strapless ensemble with puff sleeves, perfect for the all-night party. Scroll through these photos beautifully captured by Junebug Member Amber Vickery to see how you and your partner can follow their cue and throw an epic Austin garden wedding.

Why They Decided To Have A Mattie’s Austin Garden Wedding

Our priority for the wedding was to perfect the flow of each element of the day. At Mattie’s, there are so many beautiful spaces you can host each part of your wedding—from ceremony and cocktail hour to dinner and dancing. This is why we chose this venue over many others we saw in Austin. We wanted every part of the day to be in a different location on the property and do it in a way that you didn’t know what came next. We loved how you couldn’t see the next space until right before you walked into it, almost giving it that element of surprise.

Spending A Private Special Moment With Their Closest Loved Ones Before The Ceremony

Jonny and I did a first look, so before the ceremony, as guests arrived, we had our wedding party and immediate family join us at a private bar inside Mattie’s to toast the evening ahead and shake out the jitters. This private time set the tone for our wedding party and made everyone kick start the fun before the night event started.

Photographer and Junebug Member Amber Vickery Was The Perfect Fit

After changing my wedding plans four times due to COVID, I was pretty burnt out when it came to picking vendors and the whole wedding planning process in general. However, one thing that took priority was the style of photography I was looking for, and I wasn’t willing to compromise on that. I had a specific style in mind, and when I discovered Amber, after scouring Instagram for weeks, I knew she was the perfect fit right away. I wanted to capture moments, to have the photos tell a story—for folks that weren’t there to look at the pictures and feel the energy and feel like they were. Jonny and I have the most fun group of friends and family. The day was so full of emotion from start to finish, and Amber captured them beautifully. I’ve had people tell me that my wedding photos were the best they’ve ever seen, and I agree.

Wedding Planning Advice From The Newlyweds: Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

We were truly fortunate not to have any family drama or outside influence on our planning. My parents handed me the reins and my mother and father-in-law “wanted to be surprised.” But no matter the situation, wedding planning can be so stressful, and there are always hiccups along the way that you can’t control. You and your future partner set the tone for the day. If you’re having fun, then everyone else will too. Don’t sweat the bumps in the road. Enjoy all the hard work you’ve put in to make your day so special.

Incredibly Vibrant Botanical Garden Wedding

Anabelle and Alexander’s love story was 12 years in the making. Because life had other plans, the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the middle of the pandemic. So having a sequel wedding–this time with their loved ones–was something they looked forward to. And with the help of the Events by Denise, the pair was able to bring to life a celebration full of personality that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of their botanical garden wedding venue

A 19th-century estate with hacienda-inspired architecture and lush gardens, a vibrant color palette, and spectacular floral displays—everything about their big day at Rancho Las Lomas was beyond romantic and magical. Nestled under ancient oak and sycamore trees, the couple said their “I dos” under the marble theater. The same space was flipped for the reception, and the repurposed floral arch drew the attention to the show-stopping pressed flower cake by Grace & Honey

You may think the dreamy aesthetic can’t be topped, but the couple still managed to surprise their guests with their stunning attire. The groom rocked a teal suit paired with a pink tie for the ceremony while the bride glowed in her deep-V wedding dress. The pair then changed into gold Cambodian ensembles fit for royalty. Scroll through to see every incredible detail beautifully captured by Junebug member Julie Pepin. This gorgeous botanical garden wedding is full of inspiration you’re going to want to share with your talented team of vendors.

The Couple:

Anabelle and Alexander

The Wedding:

Rancho Las Lomas, Silverado, California, United States

Why A Botanical Garden Wedding

We loved how diverse Rancho Las Lomas was. It was spacious with beautiful architecture and luscious greenery. When we first visited the venue in person, it felt like an adventure going through the space and discovering wonderful pockets throughout the venue.

Personalizing The Ceremony By Having The Groom’s Brother Officiate And Writing Their Own Vows

We had Alex’s younger brother Eli as the officiant as we found him to be the most fitting to lead such a special ceremony. He has a calming and compassionate presence and, of course, has seen our relationship grow for over a decade of being together. During the pandemic, we also did a civil ceremony a year prior, so we decided to save our vows for our wedding celebration when all of our family and friends would surround us.

They Picked Their Wedding Date Based On Junebug Member Julie Pepin’s Availability

It was tough to postpone our wedding, but the main upsides were to have it at a safer time with an abundance of loved ones and to book Julie for our new date. We are huge fans of Julie’s work and were super excited to have her capture our day in what we knew would be a very special way.

Setting Expectations With Vendors And Letting Go Of The Little Things That Don’t Go According To Planned

Although the month before the wedding feels particularly hectic, I think going the extra mile to ensure everything is communicated correctly to vendors helps. We recommend dropping an email with concise reminders of your requests for a specific vendor. Conversations with vendors about your vision are made well in advance, so a refresh would be helpful on their end. Naturally, a few slip-ups happened that possibly could’ve been avoided, but that’s just how it is. At a certain point, you just have to go with the flow on the wedding day to be able to take in all that is wonderful.

They Were Proud Of How They Brought Their Dream Wedding To Life

We are proud of how everything came together visually–to have a wedding that felt thoughtful, personal, and tastefully colorful. The colors were extremely satisfying to see on the day of—whether it was attire, florals, table setting, or the cake. It was the best to see all the details come to life.

The Bride Made Custom Cookie Favors With The Help Of Her Entire Family

Anabelle is very proud of the  decorated sugar cookies she made for the favors. She started a sugar cookie business during the pandemic, which she now operates full-time, so it only made sense to put in the love and care to make all the favors. It was of the crest shield that she designed. Alex, Anabelle, Alex’s brother, and Anabelle’s mom created an assembly line of gold boxes, thank you inserts, cookies, and ribbon to make these favors feel extra special. Anabelle wanted the favors to feel Wes Anderson-esque.

Heartfelt Speeches From Their Loved Ones

Following dinner, we had toasts from the parents and four bridal party members, which was truly memorable. It was beautiful to relax and be present yet reflective while hearing our nearest and dearest talk about their experiences with us. It was comforting and so emotional. It embedded how lucky we are to be surrounded by an abundance of loved ones.

Surprising Their Guests By Changing Into Traditional Cambodian Attire and A Special Mother Dance

We surprised our guests in a couple of ways. We changed into traditional Cambodian wedding attire decked out in ornate gold fabrics and accessories during our cocktail hour. It was great to pay homage to Anabelle’s background. Another surprise was that we did a mother dance together to celebrate the women who raised us. At one point, we turned to switch up partners so we could dance with our mother-in-law too.
