This Minimalistic Couple Knew Iceland Was the Perfect Elopement Location to Honor Their Love Story

February 20, 2025 | justine

When Shelbi and Shawn began planning their big day, they knew they didn’t want anything conventional. No big venue, no reception, no bouquet—just the two of them in a place that was deeply meaningful to their story. Their minimal Iceland elopement wasn’t just a wedding, it was a chance to honor their love in a setting that had shaped them from the very beginning.

“Iceland was the first trip we took as a couple. The landscape and history left us speechless and wanting more,” they shared. Their love for the country only grew with each visit, and by their third trip, they were engaged. Choosing Iceland as their wedding destination felt like the most natural decision in the world.

Their adventure led them to an unexpected gem—an inselberg on a black sand beach, a spot that wasn’t even on their itinerary. “We came across a place that was not in our plans. A large inselberg on a black sand beach.” A spontaneous hike turned into a memorable adventure. Shelbi, eager to explore, found herself hiking alone to the summit while Shawn waited below, anxiously watching the clock. As the fog rolled in, Shelbi reached the top and found complete solitude, while Shawn, concerned, began to panic. “When deciding the ceremony location, it was perfect. It was where we had already shared an unforgettable experience—navigating through the challenges of getting lost and finding each other again.”

When it came to their wedding attire, Shelbi and Shawn stayed true to their minimalist style, but with their own personal twist. “The color black is Shawn’s go-to for everything fashion-related. So an all-black suit was fitting for the occasion. Also paired with Vans, came as no surprise as his collection is in the multiples.” Shelbi, initially aiming for simplicity, found herself drawn to a dramatic black dress. “Just because I wanted to keep things minimalistic didn’t mean the dress had to be! I typically dress with eclectic and timeless pieces, and this is what the dress should be. And because two is better than one, we have the black dress.”

Nail the winter bride look with our roundup of cute wedding boots, from western and glam to adventurous weather-proof styles.

Their ceremony was as unique as their relationship—an intimate affair held by an Ásatrú priest, set against Iceland’s dramatic and moody backdrop. “The ceremony was beyond expectations. His words, we will carry for a lifetime. I could not stop crying, which I never ever do.” They also couldn’t speak highly enough of their officiant, Haukur Bragason, who canceled his own plans and drove five hours to be there for them.

The couple’s minimal Iceland elopement continued as an adventure, capturing the raw emotions of the day with the help of their talented photographers and Junebug vendor, Daria and Hjalti from Ást og Hraun. “Our elopement was unforgettable for so many reasons, and entirely thanks to them. It was such a joy working with them. Their energy and passion did not go unnoticed.” Daria and Hjalti’s ability to capture the couple’s intimate moments made the day even more memorable. “It truly was special, to see their eyes light up before executing the most perfect shot!”

A special moment came later in the day when Daria and Hjalti suggested a final unplanned stop at Skogafoss. The couple returned to the place where, six years earlier, they had shared a significant moment: Shawn had asked, “How do we take it all in? I don’t want to leave,” and Shelbi had responded, “We will get married here.” Now, they were back, dancing, laughing, and embracing in the misty beauty of the falls as midnight approached.

In addition to showcasing their personal style, they also found practical ways to keep costs down. In addition to their unique and personal style, they also made ways to keep their budget manageable. “We were able to cut costs since we did not have a reception. No venue fee! We got pizza to go and ate as we traveled around.” Without flowers, cake, or a venue, they had the freedom to splurge on two dresses. “Eloping is a hard decision for most, but it was entirely perfect for us. We are proud of making a choice for us.”

Shelbi and Shawn’s minimal Iceland elopement wasn’t just a wedding—it was a chapter in their story, set in a country that’s meant so much to them. It was exactly what they wanted, from the intimate ceremony to all those raw, real moments captured by their photographers.

If you’re thinking about eloping, they have one piece of advice: “Hire local. Coming from out of state or, in our case, out of the country, find ways to honor the people, land, and traditions.” Their elopement was more than just a day to celebrate love—it was made even more special by the incredible people who helped bring it all to life.

This Enthralling Wedding at Proyectos Públicos Proves That the Right Venue Can Shape Your Entire Day

February 18, 2025 | justine

Rena and Jonathan’s wedding at Proyectos Públicos Prim 30 shows how the right venue can set the tone for your celebration. They chose this 19th-century gem because it combines history and modern touches in a way that felt just right for them. The majestic staircases and lush courtyards created a stunning setting, while the rooftop greenhouse added a fresh vibe that complemented the historic surroundings. Every detail of the space played a key role in their wedding, making it much more than just a place to say “I do.”

Built in 1905 during the Porfiriato period, Prim 30 blends neoclassical design with indigenous Mexican elements, which was exactly what the couple envisioned. The exposed brick, Roman columns, and greenery were the perfect mix of old and new, setting the stage for their special day.

What We Love About This Wedding:

  • Proyectos Públicos, is unlike any other venue we’ve seen
  • Junebug vendor Lupita Tirado’s breathtaking floral design, inspired by the soft hues of a beach sunrise
  • The couple’s thoughtful personal touches, like vintage fragrances, to beautifully honor their love story
  • The unforgettable, emotional first look that had us all reaching for the tissues!

Rena’s gown from J. Andreatta was a traditional A-line silhouette with delicate lace layers, but the modern organza fabric kept it feeling airy and fresh. Jon complemented her look with a contemporary blue suit, a floral tie, and a lily and anthurium corsage that brought the whole theme together.

One of the most emotional moments of the day was the couple’s first look, a moment of connection before the rush of the ceremony. “Our first look was truly special and one of our happiest memories from the weekend. Jon doesn’t typically express a lot of emotions, but there were many unexpected tears!”

The ceremony space blended historic charm with modern elegance, featuring exposed brick walls and natural wood flooring. Simple white seating directed attention to the surroundings, while a plush white carpet and clear glass vases with candles lined the aisle that led to a softly illuminated altar adorned with stunning floral arrangements.

Music played a crucial role in the ceremony , with Rena choosing Max Richter’s recomposition of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. “We spent hours finding the right mix of songs to play before, during, and after the ceremony, and we’re very pleased with the outcome!”

The couple’s ceremony was officiated by Jon’s twin sisters, Katherine and Caroline, who personalized the service with anecdotes that made the ceremony feel uniquely their own. “We were both nervous but felt supported by our friends and family who flew all the way to Mexico City,” Rena shared.

For Rena, cocktail hour is the highlight of any wedding, and it didn’t disappoint. The hors d’oeuvres featured a blend of Mexican and Japanese flavors, a tribute to Rena’s heritage and a great way to celebrate their diverse backgrounds.

The reception carried forward the theme of contrasting the old with the new, featuring long wooden tables adorned with tropical blooms and delicate floral arrangements. Woven pendant lights hung from the ceiling, surrounded by cascading greenery and moss, which added a natural, airy feel. High ceilings and natural light accentuated the venue’s architectural features.

Recreate this stunning lighting idea at your own wedding with the Valar Pendant Light.

These wedding table settings will be the inspiration you need to pull off an unforgettable tablescape.

Their wedding was full of small but meaningful details—everything from their cotton paper invitations and menus, printed in blush pink to match the floral accents, to the custom choreographed dance to John Legend’s “Nervous,” which brought out Rena’s dance background.

Rena and Jon’s celebration perfectly captured their unique love story and personal style. “We couldn’t have done it without Lupita and Joe.” Their thoughtful planning, keen attention to detail, and flawless coordination brought the couple’s vision to life, making the day feel exactly as they had always imagined.

If there’s one thing they want future couples to take away from their wedding, it’s to plan early, stay true to your priorities, and never feel pressured to do something just because it’s a trend. “Incorporate personal touches and stay true to you,” they advised. And with a venue as unforgettable as Proyectos Públicos, their wedding was sure to be a day no one would forget.

A Couple Aspired for the Ultimate Palm Springs Dinner Party for Their Wedding—and Their Vendors Delivered

February 12, 2025 | justine

Jenna and Michael had one main goal for their wedding: to create a celebration that felt more like an unforgettable Palm Springs dinner party than a traditional wedding. Inspired by local favorites like Melvyn’s and Mister Parker’s, they envisioned a stylish celebration that was effortlessly chic, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated. The Parker’s iconic charm and a talented vendor team brought their vision to life. Jenna shared, “We knew that if we were going to ask our families to come all the way out to Palm Springs, it had to be special, and The Parker delivered exactly that.”

They focused on three key priorities during planning: amazing food and drinks, working with a great planner, and creating a beautiful design with the right atmosphere. These elements ensured their wedding felt true to who they are as a couple.

What We Loved About Jenna and Michael’s Wedding:

  • The photography, captured in both digital and film by Junebug vendor Matthew David Studio, brought a timeless and cinematic quality to their wedding gallery.
  • The use of patio umbrellas during the ceremony was both stylish and practical, ensuring guests stayed comfortable while enhancing the overall aesthetic.
  • Jenna’s gown featured an elegant scarf detail, a refined touch that elevated her bridal look.
  • The couple opted for no bridal party, keeping the focus on their celebration while maintaining a lively and intimate atmosphere.
  • The after-party was a highlight, with silver mylar balloons, disco balls, and an electrifying atmosphere that kept guests dancing well into the night.

Featured Junebug Vendor:

Jenna and Michael started their day with a private first look in The Parker’s gardens. In the serene setting of lush greenery, they exchanged heartfelt vows that set a deeply personal tone for the rest of the day.

The couple’s portraits showcased their venue’s stunning grounds. From manicured hedges to mid-century architecture, every location complemented their stylish attire and the Palm Springs aesthetic. The couple’s relaxed energy came through in candid moments.

The ceremony took place beneath sprawling olive trees, with sunlight filtering through the branches. Guests sat on classic white chairs under scalloped patio umbrellas that added a Palm Springs touch. At the altar, a circular platform adorned with greenery and pastel blooms blended beautifully with the natural surroundings. “We wanted our guests to feel comfortable and immersed in the moment,” Jenna said. Thoughtful details, like hand fans displayed in a vintage champagne bucket, added to the guest experience and showed the couple’s attention to detail.

In a touching nod to family and legacy, Jenna also found a unique way to honor her late father, who had passed in 2022. Determined that he would still be part of her special day, Jenna and her maid of honor wrapped their bouquets in her father’s cherished bow tie and cummerbund—a subtle yet powerful reminder that his spirit would forever walk with them.

Music was at the heart of Jenna and Michael’s Palm Springs dinner party celebration, setting the tone for every unforgettable moment. “Our DJ Chris Paul gave us the best advice early on: your ceremony music—both the processionals and recessionals—will set the vibe for the entire night,” Jenna recalled.

With a deep love for soulful tunes, the couple crafted a musical journey that paid homage to classic Motown and R&B, infusing their day with timeless elegance. The ceremony began with the warm embrace of The Charmels’ “As Long as I’ve Got You,” perfectly echoing their commitment to each other. Michael made his grand entrance with Drake’s “Best I Ever Had,” igniting the crowd before the ceremony even got underway. When Jenna walked down the aisle to Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed,” the mood shifted from exuberant celebration to heartfelt emotion. And as the newlyweds made their way into their future together, Willie Hutch’s “I Choose You” with its cinematic horn intro served as the perfect, soul-stirring send-off.

The reception, held in the courtyard, was illuminated by string lights. Long tables dressed in white linens featured gold accents, textured centerpieces, and glowing candles for a warm, inviting atmosphere.

“We wanted the reception to feel like a Palm Springs dinner party at our dream home.” Personal touches included antique brass bowls holding custom wedding matches, rust-colored fringe lamps flanking the bar, and a vinyl record display—all reflecting their unique style without the stress of DIY.

The after-party, the couple’s most memorable part of the celebration, turned The Parker’s ballroom into a disco wonderland. Designed by Luna Design Studio, the space featured silver mylar balloons, shimmering tinsel, and disco balls. DJ Chris Paul kept the energy alive with music and videos, while late-night snacks and cocktails kept guests fueled for the dance floor.

“Jessica and her team from Beeloved Events went above and beyond. They made sure everything ran smoothly and took such good care of us.” A standout memory was when their planner gave them a private tour of the glowing reception space before guests arrived—a moment Jenna and Michael will always treasure.

Jenna and Michael found that having a clear vision and working with the right vendors made all the difference. Early conversations with potential vendors helped them find trusted recommendations, as the same names kept coming up.  Social media also gave them insight into each vendor’s style, making it easier to choose those who aligned with their vision. Sticking with local vendors not only cut down on travel costs but also meant working with a team that knew the venue inside and out, ensuring everything flowed seamlessly.”

By focusing on food, design, and planning, they created a Palm Springs dinner party that felt effortless and authentic. With a team of vendors they trusted, they were able to relax and enjoy the day, knowing every detail was in good hands.

Tips For Creating Digital Engagement Announcements That Are Uniquely You

February 10, 2025 | marissa

All photos provided by Lovebird

Congratulations! You’re engaged, and now it’s time to share the exciting news! Traditional paper announcements are still popular, and social media is an even more common way to share the news—but digital engagement invitations offer a customizable and eco-friendly way to celebrate with your loved ones. But how do you create an engagement announcement that feels truly special—one that’s personal, heartfelt, and unmistakably you?

The secret lies in more than just a beautiful design. By incorporating thoughtful details that reflect your relationship, proposal story, and unique style, you can create an announcement that feels as meaningful as the moment itself.

Make Your Digital Engagement Announcement Uniquely You

1. Share Your Proposal Story

One of the most memorable ways to personalize your engagement announcement is by including your proposal story. Whether it was a carefully planned surprise or a spontaneous moment, sharing the details makes your announcement feel authentic. With Lovebirds new digital engagement announcements, you can include a heartfelt message—or even a short video recapping how it happened!

Ideas to make your announcement personal:

  • Write a short but engaging recap of the proposal.
  • Add a video message of you both sharing the moment.
  • Include proposal footage if you have it!

2. Choose a Design That Reflects Your Style

Your engagement announcement should feel like you. If you already have a wedding aesthetic in mind, this is a great opportunity to incorporate those elements as a subtle hint. But if you’re still figuring out your wedding details, don’t stress! Instead, focus on a design that reflects your personal style as a couple. With Lovebird’s hundreds of design suites, you can choose an option that feels natural to you—whether that’s timeless and elegant, modern and sleek, or playful and fun.

3. Create a Personal Video

One of the best things about digital engagement announcements is the ability to add video! And your video doesn’t have to be just about your proposal story—it can be whatever you want it to be. Maybe it’s a highlight video of your relationship, a clip of you two in the car right after the proposal moment, full of nerves and excitement, or even footage from your last vacation together. Whether you have the time and skills to produce a beautifully edited video or you just want to share a candid, heartfelt message, you can’t go wrong. With Lovebird’s video feature, your digital announcement can feel truly personal.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Delivering Your Engagement Announcement

1. Decide When to Send Your Announcement

Timing matters! With Lovebird’s brand new digital engagement announcements, you can privately share your news via email or text before making a public post.

 Here’s a general timeline:

  • Immediately after the proposal – Share the news personally with immediate family and closest friends via call or message.
  • Within a few days to two weeks – Send out your digital engagement announcement to a wider circle of loved ones.
  • After the formal announcement – Feel free to post on social media if you’d like!

2. Craft the Perfect Engagement Announcement Message

Your message should sound like you. Whether formal, playful, or sentimental, here’s a template to help you get started:

“We have some exciting news to share… we’re engaged! We’re beyond thrilled to start this next chapter together and can’t wait to celebrate with you all soon!”

Or, if you’re letting a video do the talking, this little tidbit is all you’ll need:

“Watch this short video to see how it all happened!”

Lovebird allows you to personalize your message, keeping it as simple or detailed as you’d like.

3. Send It in a Thoughtful Way

Rather than a mass text or email, make your engagement announcement feel special and polished. Lovebird’s platform allows you to:

Skipping the Wait of a Traditional Wedding, This Couple Opted for an Elegant Hotel Elopement

February 10, 2025 | justine

Charlotte and Khari’s love story is proof that timing is everything. The pair first met in Miami—Charlotte was celebrating her 30th birthday with friends, and Khari was on a bachelor trip. “We were instantly attracted, but we were both in relationships at the time,” Charlotte says. They kept in touch through social media but lost contact until Khari reached out over a year later. By then, they were both single and ready to take a chance on love.

When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple initially envisioned a traditional celebration. However, they quickly realized that they didn’t want to wait. “We decided to elope, but truth be told, I still wanted more than just the justice of the peace and quick pictures,” Charlotte shares. Their solution? A beautifully intimate elegant hotel elopement with just their closest loved ones, plenty of style, and unforgettable moments.

Finding the right vendors was essential for bringing their vision to life. Charlotte already knew their photographer, Junebug vendor Brownie Photography & Production, and her hairstylist beforehand. Quality of work was a top priority, and social media played a huge role in connecting the couple with talented pros.

Featured Junebug Vendor:

For Charlotte, her walk down the aisle doubled as their “first look,” making the moment even more special. She wore a chic off-the-shoulder midi dress paired with sheer gloves with pearls and bird cage veil that added a classic bridal touch. “I wanted something that screamed ‘BRIDE’ but still felt like me,” she says.

Khari complemented her effortlessly in a tan suit, opting for a modern look while steering clear of traditional black. Together, they were a vision of timeless elegance.

The ceremony was the perfect mix of modern elegance and simplicity. Baby’s breath and white roses created a soft backdrop, framing the couple beautifully as they exchanged vows. Rows of chairs, lined with terracotta and cream floral arrangements, brought a warm pop of color to the neutral tones of the room.

After the ceremony, the couple strolled through the hotel for their first professional portraits as husband and wife. The venue’s interior, with its arched doorways, crystal chandeliers, and marble floors, offered the perfect backdrop for their photos. “We wanted pictures we could share and revisit for years to come. This was our first time taking professional pictures together, so it was a very memorable time for us.”

The reception space carried the couple’s theme of simplicity and elegance. The tablescape was minimalistic, with only a stunning display of candles as the centerpiece and reflected the couple’s refined vision for their celebration.

A charming detail at the reception was the gift table, which perfectly reflected the couple’s style. It featured a beautifully wrapped box topped with a classic bride-and-groom figurine, accented with a terracotta ribbon and pearl details. The table was further decorated with terracotta and cream floral arrangements that echoed the ceremony decor, tying everything together seamlessly.

The couple were intentional about creating a warm and memorable evening for their guests, sharing, “We wanted to make sure we celebrated those who chose to join us with a special dinner and beautiful atmosphere.”

The evening was filled with heartfelt moments, including speeches from their fathers and a special song performed by Charlotte’s mother. The warmth and love in the room were palpable as family and friends came together to celebrate the couple’s new beginning. “We couldn’t have asked for a better space—it had timeless elegance, charm, and so many photo opportunities.”

For Charlotte and Khari, the biggest surprise of the day was how quickly it all went by. “Time flew by so fast,” the couple says, reflecting on the whirlwind of emotions and joy. Despite that, they wouldn’t change a thing.

When asked for advice, “It shouldn’t be a stressful time. Plan according to your budget and wishes—not anyone else’s!” Their elegant hotel elopement was proof that with careful planning and a focus on what truly matters, you can create a wedding day that’s intimate, beautiful, and unforgettable.

Switzerland Destination Wedding: 50 Family and Friends Celebrate an Ultimate Winter Getaway

February 6, 2025 | justine

Nicolette and Ben met in Chicago and instantly connected over their mutual love of skiing, adventure, and good food and wine. Just eight months into dating, they took a life-changing trip to Zermatt, Switzerland—a place that captured their hearts and cemented their decision to spend their lives together. So, when it came time to plan their wedding, the choice was obvious: a Switzerland destination wedding, surrounded by the majestic Matterhorn and their closest loved ones.

“We love spending time outdoors and sharing good meals with friends and family,” the couple shared. To bring their dream to life, they worked with a talented vendor team, including Junebug vendor Helena Brauer Photography, who captured every moment with stunning artistry. Their vision? A weekend getaway that brought 50 of their closest loved ones to the place that meant so much to them. With a focus on good food, meaningful moments, and natural beauty, their big day became the ultimate reflection of their love story.

Rather than a traditional rehearsal dinner, the couple kicked off their Switzerland destination wedding with a welcome ski day. “Skiing is such a big part of our story, so we invited everyone to spend the day on the slopes.” After hours of skiing and snowboarding, guests gathered at Chez Dany, a cozy mountainside restaurant accessible by skiing, hiking, or gondola. The afternoon was filled with hearty Swiss dishes, breathtaking views, and plenty of laughs. That evening, everyone regrouped at the hotel bar for a casual nightcap. With its warm, welcoming vibe, it was the perfect spot to relax, mingle, and set the tone for the celebration ahead.

Featured Junebug Vendor:

Before the ceremony, the couple shared an emotional first look in a snowy meadow with the Matterhorn towering in the background. As Nicolette approached Ben, her gown trailing in the snow, the soft winter light added a cinematic glow to the moment.  When Ben turned to see her, his joyful expression said it all. “Seeing each other in that setting was surreal.”

The ceremony, held outdoors at the Matthiol Hotel, was a breathtaking mix of simplicity and natural beauty. Rows of wooden chairs draped with fur blankets faced the iconic Matterhorn. The aisle, lined with greenery, torches, and baby’s breath, seamlessly blended with the snowy landscape.

“We didn’t focus on color schemes or elaborate decorations,” they shared. “The beauty of the mountains spoke for itself, and we just added a few simple touches to enhance it.”

Nicolette and Ben exchanged vows they had written themselves, and their mothers gave touching readings. “The most special part was walking back down the aisle together. The sun was shining, our guests were cheering, and everyone was ringing the Swiss cowbells we placed on their chairs. It was pure magic.”

The reception dinner and party took place in the hotel’s dining room, where modern Swiss chalet decor set a cozy and elegant tone. Tables were dressed with glowing candles and baby’s breath centerpieces.

To make the reception uniquely theirs, Nicolette and Ben named each table after places they had lived together. “We started with Chicago, where we met, and ended with Boston, where we live now.” Each table card included a short note about what the place meant to them, a personal touch that helped tell their story.

“We wanted to make sure everyone was having the best time.” Their focus on great food, wine, and music kept the energy high all night.

One of the biggest hits? The ski shot board. Guests lined up side by side, taking shots together from a long wooden ski fitted with shot glasses. “It was such a fun way to keep the party going.”

Planning a destination wedding is no small feat, but Nicolette and Ben were in great hands with their planner, Mart Mari Weddings. “We truly couldn’t have brought this wedding to life without them.” The couple’s vision for the day was clear: a celebration that felt meaningful, fun, and organic. “We didn’t want our wedding to feel like a series of moments choreographed for the camera. We wanted it to be a genuine celebration.”

Looking back, the couple said they wouldn’t change a thing about their Switzerland destination wedding. “It was everything we hoped for and more. We feel so lucky to have had that experience with our closest friends and family.” When asked for advice, they emphasized focusing on what truly matters. “Details are important, but at the end of the day, it’s about celebrating your love and being present. Enjoy every moment—it only happens once.”

After Local Venues Fell Short, This Couple Found Destination Wedding Perfection in San Miguel de Allende

Ryan and Andrew’s love story began in March 2017 when they joined the same kickball team in a local social sports league. What started as a friendship grew deeper throughout the year, and by December, their platonic bond transformed into a romance. “By the end of 2017, we became inseparable,” they shared.

When it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted a day that celebrated their love and allowed their guests to share in the joy. Initially, the pair explored venues in Philadelphia but nothing felt quite right. “We just weren’t excited about any of the local options,” they explained. That’s when a friend suggested a destination wedding, and the idea immediately clicked. Having traveled to San Miguel de Allende in 2022 for Andrew’s 40th birthday, the city’s charm, colors, and energy left a lasting impression. “We quickly fell in love with the city during that trip,” they said. It became clear that this was the perfect place to celebrate their wedding.

In spring of 2023, they connected with Junebug vendor Bougainvillea Weddings to bring their vision to life. “The entire team took our design, ceremony, and reception ideas and ran with them,” the couple shared. “They delivered above and beyond to create the most amazing day of our lives.” Planning a destination wedding could have been overwhelming, but Bougainvillea Weddings made the process effortless. “We loved that they provided an excellent list of pros and gave thoughtful feedback on which ones would best fit the mood and aesthetics of our wedding,” they explained. One of them was Junebug vendor and photographer Fer De Jesus, whom the couple connected with virtually.

Zoom meetings with vendors also proved invaluable. “Because this was a destination wedding, having these calls was important to us,” they said. “We wanted to get to know our vendors as people and discuss what we wanted for our wedding day.”

The couple kicked off their wedding weekend with a callejoneada, or wedding parade, through Parque Benito Juárez. The parade, complete with a mariachi band, mojigangas (papier-mâché figures of Ryan, Andrew, and their dog Penny), and a burro, led guests through the charming streets of San Miguel de Allendel. “Our friends and family loved it—it was the perfect way to start the weekend and introduce everyone to the culture.”

The festivities continued with a rehearsal dinner at Casa San Jose, a venue with a stunning outdoor space. Guests enjoyed tacos al pastor under the stars while sharing heartfelt speeches. “It set the tone for the rest of the celebration.”

yan and Andrew started their wedding day with a laid-back, fun moment getting ready together. They helped each other with their suits, adjusted boutonnières, and straightened ties, all while sharing smiles and a few laughs. It was a relaxed, happy start to the day that set the tone for everything ahead.

Ryan and Andrew’s rooftop ceremony at Terraza Trinitate was nothing short of breathtaking. The venue showcased stunning views of the city and featured a vibrant floral arch in rich jewel tones of fuchsia, orange, and deep blue. The arch framed the rustic wooden doors, creating a romantic focal point. “Walking into the ceremony and seeing all the planning come to life was surreal,” they said. “It was overwhelming in the best way.”

The ceremony itself was deeply personal. “Our incredible officiant met with us individually to craft the perfect summary of our relationship,” they shared. They also included meaningful song lyrics as readings, and both nearly lost their composure during Wolf Alice’s Don’t Delete The Kisses:

Me and you were meant to be in love
I see the signs of a lifetime, you ‘til I die

To add a lighthearted moment, Ryan and Andrew included a unity ceremony featuring Casa Dragones tequila. “Taking that shot was such a fun way to catch our breath, smile, and set the mood for the rest of the night,” they said.

The jewel-tone color palette carried seamlessly into the reception decor, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Tables were dressed with floral arrangements in bold shades of fuchsia, red, orange, and purple, perfectly complemented by vintage glassware, gold flatware, and textured napkins that added a refined touch.

“We wanted the reception to feel like a lively fiesta while still being elegant,” the couple explained. The result was a stunning celebration that not only reflected their personalities but also encapsulated the vibrant spirit of their San Miguel de Allende wedding.

Another unexpected moment was a wedding cake gifted by the Bougainvillea team. “It was such a thoughtful gesture, and the cake was delicious!” they added. Photos of the couple cutting the cake are among their favorites from the evening.

Planning a destination wedding requires trust, and Ryan and Andrew were grateful for their planning team. “Bougainvillea reassured us every step of the way,” they shared. “They kept telling us not to worry, and they were right. Everything was perfect, from the flowers to the food to the overall vibe.”

Looking back on their San Miguel de Allende wedding, the couple’s advice to other couples is simple: “Do what feels authentic to you, and don’t rush the process. At the end of the day, it’s all about celebrating your love.”

This Couple Ditched the Beach for a Jungle-Inspired, Moroccan Villa Wedding in Tulum

January 29, 2025 | justine

A Moroccan villa, lush jungle vibes, and timeless elegance made this Tulum destination wedding an unforgettable celebration.

When Emily and Jose met at college in west Texas in 2018, they had no idea that morning gym sessions would lead to forever. Jose, a soccer player at the school, first noticed Emily when she would come in with her friend. “After seeing me at the gym, he followed me on Instagram, and we’ve been together ever since,” Emily shares. They knew they were meant to be because of how naturally they clicked and how perfectly they complemented each other. Five years later, Jose proposed on a sunny Miami beach.

Emily knew early on that she wanted a destination wedding—but not a typical beach resort event. “I wanted more of a jungle, earthy vibe,” she explains. After researching cities and comparing prices, they landed on a wedding in Tulum, Mexico. “It was perfect because it wasn’t too far from Texas, and Jose’s family speaks Spanish.”

“I didn’t want the wedding to feel too beachy,” Emily shares. She envisioned a more earthy setting with timeless details. She took her time comparing venues and reached out to wedding planners to help with the logistics. “Since I wasn’t in Mexico to visit places in person, I knew I needed a local wedding planner to help me communicate and recommend vendors.” The couple hired a Junebug Vendor Pride Maya Weddings, who helped bring Emily’s Pinterest board to life. “They were amazing and really understood my vision.”

When it came to selecting vendors, Emily’s approach was thorough. “I would look at their social media accounts to see if their work fit the vibe I was going for,” she explains. For the photography, she focused on finding someone who captured natural, in-the-moment shots with editing that matched her style. After careful research, she found exactly what she was looking for in Junebug vendor Elegance Photographie. “I didn’t want anything too posed—I wanted our photos to feel real.”

To kick off their wedding weekend, Emily and Jose hosted a welcome party and rehearsal dinner. “Even though I didn’t want a beach wedding, I wanted our guests to experience the beach while they were there,” Emily explains. The open taco bar and relaxed atmosphere set the perfect tone for the celebration. During dinner, guests were treated to an incredible sight—baby sea turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean. “It was such a special experience.”

Emily wanted her look to be timeless. “There are so many trends, but I didn’t want to look back at photos and regret my choices,” she explains. Her wedding dress was simple and elegant, while her reception dress added a touch of fun with its sparkly details.

The bridesmaids wore pearl yellow dresses, perfect for a wedding in Tulum, that were both subtle and eye-catching against the greenery, and the groomsmen’s tan suits complemented the palette perfectly.

“I saved on my dress because I knew I’d only wear it once, and it would get dirty,” Emily shares. She also prioritized budgeting for photography, food, and flowers. “The photos and videos last forever, and the food really makes the guest experience. Flowers bring the entire design together.”

The couple chose a stunning Moroccan villa surrounded by lush greenery, creating a dreamlike setting for their special day. The ceremony space was set over a serene pool with water reflecting the surrounding tropical foliage. The villa’s white facade, with its arched windows and thatched roof, was adorned with all-white arrangements.

The path leading up to the ceremony was lined with loose petals and string lights The overall look of their wedding in Tulum was modern yet organic, perfectly blending elegance with the natural surroundings. “I liked that the venue was a blank canvas,” Emily says. “It didn’t feel boho, and the architecture—with all the archways and unique details—gave it character.”

Walking down the aisle was an unforgettable moment for Emily. “Seeing my future husband standing there while a Christian song played made it incredibly personal and emotional,” she recalls. The couple wrote their own vows, filling them with personal anecdotes and humor. “Jose added some funny parts that we still laugh about today,” she adds.

The reception took place in an open-air poolside terrace. The highlight of the decor was the checkered black-and-white dance floor, which shimmered beneath a canopy of mirrored disco balls and chandeliers. “It looked beautiful in the photos and added a fun touch to the night,” Emily shares.

The tables were simple yet elegant, with dark wood, cascading runners of baby’s breath, crystal goblets, and personalized ceramic place cards. “We didn’t go overboard with small details, but the ones we did choose felt meaningful and personal,” Emily says. She filled an entire suitcase with personalized items like drink stirrers and napkins featuring her dog’s face.

Emily and Jose ensured their reception felt like a true celebration. “It’s important to make a playlist that’s diverse enough for all age groups,” Emily advises. The couple’s DJ kept the dance floor packed all night. “The checkered floor and disco balls made everything feel so festive,” Emily adds.

When asked for advice, Emily emphasizes the importance of letting go. “Don’t stress about things you can’t control. Everything will work out on that day,” she says. She also encourages couples to stay true to their vision. “There will always be trends and opinions from others, but this day is for you. Do what makes you happy.”

For Emily and Jose, their wedding in Tulum wasn’t just a celebration—it was a way to bring everyone they loved on a memorable adventure. “Everyone felt like they were on vacation,” Emily reflects. “It was a beautiful way to gather our family and friends and celebrate our story.”

Surprise Moments Add Heartfelt Touches to This Elegant Dusty Blue Wedding

January 27, 2025 | justine

Gabrielle and Daniel’s love story is equal parts charming and unique, with a fun twist that will make you smile. According to Daniel, they met when he rescued an apple Gabbie dropped at the grocery store. Gabbie, on the other hand, remembers it differently. Their real-life meet-cute involved a mutual friend who played matchmaker during a hiking trip. One follow on Instagram and a clever trivia question later, Daniel found his opening. “He told me I could either take the $10 I won from his trivia game or let him take me out for drinks. I think we all know what I picked!” Fast forward seven months from their first date, Daniel was down on one knee, asking Gabbie the question that led them to their dreamy, elegant dusty blue wedding.

For their big day, the couple chose The Grand Island Mansion, an all-inclusive venue that captured their shared love for timeless luxury. “The whole place makes you feel like you’re stepping into a different world,” Gabbie shares. They loved that the mansion took care of many logistics, from tables and chairs to catering, giving them more time to focus on the personal details. With the venue’s grandeur as a backdrop, Gabbie’s vision of dusty blue, gold, and lush greenery transformed the space into a fairytale.

For Gabrielle and Daniel, their guests’ experience was a top priority. They chose vendors who knew the venue well, ensuring everything ran smoothly. “We invested in good food and a DJ who could keep everyone on the dance floor,” Gabbie explains. Their photographer, Junebug vendor Stephane Leon Photography, and videographer were also handpicked to make sure every moment was captured beautifully.

Gabbie stunned in an ethereal ballgown with off-the-shoulder cap sleeves and intricate detailing. She paired the ensemble with dusty blue heels with gold cherry blossom embellishments.

Daniel, keeping things classic and refined, wore a custom tuxedo by Indochino, complete with personalized cuffs

The bridesmaids dazzled in satin dusty blue dresses, while the groomsmen wore sleek grey suits with matching blue ties.

The ceremony was held in front of stately columns surrounded by cypress trees, creating a dramatic yet serene backdrop. Rows of white chairs lined the stone pathway, adorned with cascading blue and white floral arrangements and greenery.

Florals framing the aisle, led guests’ eyes toward the altar with a stunning floral arch. Delicate white blossoms and vines intertwined with the columns, creating a fairytale-like ambiance. They exchanged vows under a sky that briefly opened up to let the sun shine down on them—a moment they’ll never forget.

The couple poured their hearts into DIY projects to make their elegant dusty blue wedding feel uniquely theirs. “We made our own seating chart, personalized seat tags, and even a wedding newspaper!” Gabbie explains. The newspaper was a fan favorite, filled with fun stories about their relationship, a thank-you to their guests, and trivia games tied to meaningful places in their love story.

Inside the reception hall, soft white linens draped the tables, paired with elegant gold-rimmed accents and delicate glassware. Each centerpiece was a romantic arrangement of white florals and greenery, arranged in gold vases to complement the venue’s timeless charm. Framed table numbers in ornate gold frames added a vintage touch, and the candlelight from the taper candles cast a warm, inviting glow.

The wedding cake was a showstopper—a three-tiered masterpiece in dusty blue, adorned with gold monogram detailing and handcrafted sugar flowers that seemed to bloom across its surface. The intricate design was perfectly framed by a grand chandelier, making the cake table a visual highlight of the evening.

Gabrielle and Daniel made sure their wedding day was filled with moments of joy and surprise for one another. Gabbie prepared a heartfelt video montage featuring rare family footage, including clips of Daniel’s late mother, who passed in 2018. “It was such an emotional and beautiful surprise,” Daniel recalls. Daniel, in turn, serenaded Gabbie with a rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Tenerife Sea,” a song that holds special meaning for them.

Later in the evening, Gabbie changed into a chic dress with faux diamond embellishments and feathered sleeves— which she found on Etsy. “I wanted to shine but still feel comfortable enough to dance the night away,” she says.

The weather kept everyone on their toes, with a looming forecast of rain. “We told our guests to bring jackets just in case,” Gabbie shares. While the ceremony stayed dry, the skies opened up just in time for the reception. The couple made the most of it by moving their after-party indoors but snuck away for a private moment on the dance floor, cold sparklers lighting up the rainy evening as their videographer captured every second.

Gabrielle’s advice to couples planning their big day? “No one else knows what your wedding is supposed to look like except you. Be flexible and trust that everything will come together the way it’s meant to.”

Their wedding day was a thoughtful and meaningful celebration of who they are as a couple. Every detail, from the elegant decor to the heartfelt surprises, created a sense of intimacy and joy. Gabrielle and Daniel’s elegant dusty blue wedding was a moment in time where their story and the love of their closest friends and family came together in an unforgettable way.

Inside an Enchanting South Asian Shaadi in Los Cabos

When Shivani and Nilan dreamed of their wedding, they envisioned a vibrant celebration full of color, joy, and tradition set against the stunning backdrop of Los Cabos—and their Shaadi weekend exceeded every expectation. Spanning four unforgettable days filled with music, dance, and endless fun, their wedding beautifully combined cultural traditions with the breathtaking beauty of a seaside paradise. From the stunning outfit changes to the meticulously planned floral arrangements, every detail was a feast for the senses, perfectly complemented by the picturesque setting. With Junebug vendor Take It Photo capturing every moment, this celebration is truly one for the books.

Pithi-Haldi Ceremony

The Shaadi festivities began with the Pithi-Haldi ceremony, a vibrant and heartfelt pre-wedding tradition where loved ones apply turmeric paste to the couple, symbolizing blessings for glowing health and prosperity. Shivani and Nilan’s Pithi ceremony was an explosion of color, joy, and laughter, as seen in the playful throwing of petals and the exuberant atmosphere.

The decor featured cascading garlands of bright marigold blooms suspended over the seating area. The backdrop of blush, tangerine, and rose-hued blooms created a romantic contrast against the earthy tones of the venue.

For this special ceremony, Shivani wore a stunning ensemble featuring a blouse with intricate floral embroidery and a flowy ivory lehenga with nature-inspired motifs, paired with a sheer dupatta adorned with star-like embellishments. Her braid, decorated with delicate flowers, added an ethereal touch to her look. Nilan complemented her perfectly in a light sage-green kurta and crisp white trousers, creating a sophisticated yet laid-back vibe for the event.

From Shivani, “Our Haldi ceremony was a blend of tradition and symbolism. It’s a ritual that is as meaningful as it is colorful, aimed at protecting and blessing the bride and groom. Yet, it was our family’s involvement that really made the day stand out. Their laughter and stories transformed a traditional ceremony into a personal and unforgettable event.”

Sangeet Night

The Sangeet is a cherished pre-wedding event in Indian culture, traditionally known as “Music Night” or a “Musical Party.” It’s a celebration that brings together the couple’s families and friends in a joyous atmosphere filled with music, dance, and laughter. The evening often includes choreographed dance performances by loved ones, showcasing Bollywood-inspired routines, setting the stage for a fun, celebratory Shaadi weekend.

Tropical decor featuring vibrant floral arrangements of red ginger, bird-of-paradise blooms, and lush greenery on modern gold stands. The reception tables were adorned with playful pink and orange napkins, adding pops of color against the neutral tablecloths. The backdrop of the dance floor featured a neon sign that read ‘It Was Always You,’ framed by a lush jungle of foliage and bright florals. Photos of family love stories were displayed on a memory wall, honoring the legacies that brought Shivani and Nilan to this day.

The couple’s grand entrance set the tone for an unforgettable night,. Shivani and Nilan wowed in custom, coordinated outfits for their Sangeet ceremony. Shivani wore a midnight blue organza lehenga with velvet applique embroidered flowers on a corset top and a flared skirt. The shimmering accents  caught the light with every move. Nilan wore an intricate beaded custom sherwani with a pin tuck kurta pyjama and custom embroidered shoes.

Beyond the entertainment, the Sangeet symbolizes the blending of two families, breaking down barriers and fostering connections in a festive setting. Often, henna artistry adds to the celebration, allowing guests to experience the culturally rich tradition of Mehndi as a symbolic gesture of joy and beauty.

Sataak Ritual

The Sataak, an intimate but essential ritual in Hindu weddings, added a deep layer of cultural significance to the celebrations. As Shivani and Nilan performed traditional prayers and rites, their love and commitment shone through. The serene energy of this sacred event balanced the liveliness of the surrounding Shaadi festivities.

The breathtaking mandap was adorned with cascading arches of peach, blush, and cream florals, framed perfectly against the stunning Los Cabos ocean backdrop. The blooms added a soft, romantic touch to the lively atmosphere.

Intricately embroidered maroon dupattas rested on guest chairs as offerings of tradition and respect. The ceremonial items, including a picture of Saibaba, a delicate Om symbol created with rice, and gold statuettes, added spiritual significance to the setup.

Shivani looked stunning in a floral-embroidered mint green and ivory lehenga with intricate embellishments and a flowing dupatta. Nilan complemented her in a pastel blush sherwani with subtle geometric textures, completing a soft yet regal look.

The couple’s families joined them under the floral mandap, draped in hues of blush, red, and sage green, symbolizing unity. Each ritual was carried out with joy, laughter, and reverence as Shivani and Nilan performed the sacred rites.

Mehendi Pool Party

The pool party and mehndi event felt like stepping into a summer dream, , kicking off the Shaadi celebrations with style. The crisp blue and white decor set the perfect tone for the beachy yet chic vibes of Los Cabos, with personalized signs and giant “N & S” letters reflecting in the pool like a scene out of a movie.

The bride’s outfit stole the show—her vibrant pink ensemble, adorned with tassels and mirror work, added the right pop of fun and glam. Paired with bold earrings and chic sunglasses, she radiated joy, while Nilan kept it effortlessly cool with his laid-back yet polished vacation look.

Guests lounged under umbrellas, and laughter echoed as the mehndi artists adorned hands with intricate, tropical-inspired designs. There was no shortage of energy as friends and family embraced the warm sun and festive atmosphere.

The Wedding Ceremony

Shivani was absolutely stunning in her deep red lehenga adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishments, paired with a rich dupatta that added an extra layer of elegance. Her statement jewelry—a dazzling choker and matching earrings—brought a regal touch to her overall look. Nilan looked equally dashing in a cream sherwani with detailed embroidery that exuded timeless sophistication. His coordinating safa and string of pearls added the perfect finishing touches.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the ocean, Shivani and Nilan’s wedding ceremony was nothing short of magical. The mandap was truly a sight to behold—soft drapery, l cascading roses in shades of blush and ivory, and woven hanging baskets that added a natural, boho touch.

The aisle was adorned with flowers, guiding everyone to the stunning mandap. A standout feature was the intricate arch woven with roses, hydrangeas, and hanging wicker accents that gave the space a warm, bohemian touch.

Surrounded by family, the ceremony reflected rich traditions and heartfelt moments. From the symbolic washing of the groom’s feet by his parents to the exchanging of floral garlands, every detail of this part of their Shaadi weekend was steeped in meaning and love. As they sat beneath the ornate mandap, surrounded by floral drapery and lantern accents, the couple’s glowing smiles were a reflection of their commitment and connection.

A Glamorous Reception

The reception was an unforgettable celebration filled with glamour, joy, and vibrant energy. The entire room was transformed into a bold and romantic scene drenched in rich shades of red. Towering floral centerpieces of crimson roses created a  dramatic effect, while mirrored accents and sleek gold table details added a contemporary touch of elegance.

The velvet lounge seating on stage, surrounded by a breathtaking floral installation, felt like something straight out of a grand theater. Above it all, chandeliers glistened from the crimson-draped ceiling, casting a warm, sophisticated glow.

Shivani and Nilan made their grand entrance hand-in-hand, radiating happiness. Shivani’s reception look was pure magic—she wore a glittering ivory and silver lehenga that shimmered with every step. Nilan was equally polished in a classic black tuxedo, giving major old-Hollywood charm.

The dance floor came alive as friends and family performed choreographed routines that had everyone cheering. The atmosphere was electric, with music, laughter, and dancing that lasted late into the night. The couple’s joy was absolutely infectious as they celebrated surrounded by their loved ones under a sky of chandeliers and cascading red roses—a night of memories that felt as timeless as it was spectacular.

Shivani and Nilan’s Los Cabos Shaadi was the perfect blend of tradition and modern flair. Their love story shone brightly through every thoughtfully planned event, and their wedding weekend served as a joyful reminder of the beauty of cultural celebration and community. For anyone planning their dream Shaadi, this breathtaking celebration is proof that with the right team, your love story can be turned into a masterpiece.
