This Alaskan Elopement Combined Western Traditions and Vietnamese Heritage in Two Stunning First Looks

December 24, 2024 | justine

Grace and Nghia’s Alaskan elopement was a perfect fusion of Western traditions and Vietnamese heritage, making it both breathtakingly epic and deeply personal. Their journey began on Tinder, where Nghia’s persistence paid off despite Grace studying for finals. After a week of him asking her out, they met up for their first date, which included all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu, hours of conversation, and intense rounds of Uno. They now recreate that first date every year on their anniversary.

For their big day, the couple envisioned a day that was both grand and intimate, reflecting the awe-inspiring vastness of their love while staying true to who they are. “We wanted our elopement to be epic but also intimate and personal to who we are!” they shared. “It was important that we were able to capture how awe-inspiring and vast our love feels during our special day. We also wanted to be able to be present for ourselves and each other as we read our vows.”

“We knew we wanted to be immersed in nature,” they explained. “After considering the Dolomites in Italy and Banff in Canada, we fell in love with Alaska.” The couple was drawn to the wild landscapes, which felt like the ideal backdrop for their adventurous day. They also connected with Junebug vendor Pala Kovacs, whose authenticity and vibrant personality shone through her work. Pala’s enthusiasm to come to Alaska, coupled with her meticulous planning and collaboration with Josh Vassar and Marathon Helicopters, made their dream elopement a reality.

Their day began with a quiet first look outside their charming A-frame cabin, where they donned Western attire. “The first look outside our cozy cabin was a beautiful start to the day,” they recalled. It was a moment of pure intimacy that set the tone for the adventure ahead.

Grace’s wedding dress was found at a sample sale, she carefully hand-sewed pearls onto her veil and styled her own hair and makeup. “We saved money on the things we could do ourselves and spent where it mattered most.”

After their first look, they made their way into town and stopped at a local ice cream parlor. The cheerful locals offered marriage advice, adding to the fun and spontaneity of the moment. “It was a joyful way to connect with the community and soak in the excitement of the day.” It was the perfect lighthearted pause before continuing their journey.

Next, the couple took a thrilling helicopter ride to a mountaintop, where they changed into traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai outfits for their second first look. The wildflowers and blueberry plants around them provided a striking backdrop. “Red is a traditional wedding color in Vietnam, and we loved how it popped against the natural setting,” they explained. They chose to honor their Vietnamese heritage with custom Ao Dai outfits, generously gifted by a close friend.

After exchanging vows, they took time for portraits amid the mountains, wildflowers, and a setting sun, all captured by Pala Kovacs and videographer Josh Vassar. These portraits were a perfect reflection of the day’s magic and intimacy, preserving the surreal beauty of the landscape and their love.

Despite the stunning surroundings, nature had other plans. A swarm of mosquitoes joined the couple’s mountaintop celebration, especially as Nghia read his vows. “The mosquitoes were feasting on Nghia’s forehead as he read his vows.” Though the pests were uninvited, the couple embraced the moment with humor. “Most of our footage on the mountaintop was us running from the mosquitoes, but it made the moment even more memorable!” they shared.

To cap off their unforgettable day, Grace and Nghia helicoptered to a serene beach for an intimate picnic. Grace had a special surprise in store for Nghia—she played a recording of herself singing their first dance song, infusing the moment with personal significance. “We played Uno and reminisced about some of our favorite memories together.” Surrounded by the calm of the beach and the peace of the moment, the couple savored this precious time together, away from the bustle of everyday life.

Grace and Nghia reflected on the day with deep gratitude for their incredible team. “Having a team we trusted truly made all the difference,” they shared. The collaboration between Pala Kovacs, Josh Vassar, and Marathon Helicopters turned their vision into reality, overcoming any challenges with ease and ensuring their day was as magical as they had imagined.

Looking back, they felt confident that their decision to work with such talented pros was one of the best they made, knowing their dream elopement wouldn’t have been the same without them.

Croatian Traditions, Budget Spreadsheets, and a Dream Dress: A Unique Melbourne Wedding That Perfectly Reflected Both Partners

December 3, 2024 | justine

“My dress is more important than the styling.”

It might sound like an unusual mantra for a wedding, but for Alana and Paul, it became an iconic inside joke—so much so that they displayed it proudly on a fluted partition wall at their reception. This playful, cheeky attitude perfectly encapsulates who they are as a couple: fun, down-to-earth, and unapologetically themselves. Their unique Melbourne wedding wasn’t just a celebration of their love—it was a creative expression of their personalities, with pops of color, heartfelt traditions, and unforgettable memories.

Alana’s journey to finding the dress started on a trip to Sydney with her Maid of Honor, Emma. “We went to see the other love of my life, Harry Styles, perform, and while we were there, I tried on some dresses. Of course, the minute I tried on this very dress, I knew it was the one,” Alana recalls. Unbeknownst to her, however, the dress was almost double the cost Paul had forecasted in his budget. “When I realized this, I knew I’d have to do my best negotiation work to lock it in.” Fast forward a couple of months, and Alana pulled it off. “While I would say I did some of my best negotiating at that time, Paul would say I just turned on the waterworks to my advantage,” she laughs.

Curating their wedding vibe was a creative journey led by Alana’s vision. “I told Paul to trust me, and I’m so glad he did!” But while Alana was dreaming up bold ideas, Paul was making sure everything stayed on track with his infamous budget spreadsheet. “Every dollar was accounted for,” Alana laughs. “If there was a cent to be saved, Paul knew exactly where it was!” Paul also played a big part in ensuring they stayed on budget, even giving Alana a pep talk before one of their styling meetings, reminding her that they absolutely can’t exceed their wedding budget. “I may have gotten carried away with some of the ideas, but Paul kept us grounded in the best possible way.”

The moment they stepped into The Trust, the ornate Art Deco details had them hooked. Its timeless beauty meant the venue needed minimal styling, making it the perfect canvas for their bold yet elegant aesthetic. The venue’s rich history allowed them to focus on their creative touches, like the striking color palette they’d chosen—a vibrant mix of ultramarine blue, bright pink, and chrome. This palette, inspired by a set of coasters at Alana’s in-laws’ home, was a bold yet harmonious choice that came to life with the help of The Goodsmiths expertise.

Ahead, discover how Alana and Paul pulled off their one-of-a-kind wedding and relive their day through the lens of Art of Grace.

One of Alana’s standout moments was the pre-party before the first look and ceremony—a heartfelt nod to Croatian wedding traditions she had been looking forward to her whole life. Nearly 80 friends and family gathered at her family home to kick off the celebrations with food, dancing, live music, and rakija (a traditional Croatian spirit). For Alana, this wasn’t just a party; it was a cherished family tradition that brought generations together in pure joy and excitement.

“The energy was unmatched,” Alana shares. “Michael Pinjuh’s piano accordion performance and my big entrance were moments I’ll cherish forever. I reckon I could have cried, but I just had so much joy and happiness rushing through my body that I could only smile and laugh.” With everyone singing, dancing, and toasting to the couple, it set the tone for the rest of the day—a warm, love-filled celebration that perfectly reflected Alana’s vibrant personality and deep-rooted connection to her heritage. “It was the best kind of warm-up for the day ahead,” she adds.

The first look was an emotional highlight for the couple, giving them a chance to connect before the ceremony. “We’re so glad we did it,” Alana reflects. “Paul wasn’t thrilled about being the center of attention, so it helped calm our nerves and made the ceremony even more special.”

Their ceremony, officiated by Natalie Drum, was heartfelt and sprinkled with humor. Instead of writing personal vows, they entrusted Natalie to tell their story—and she nailed it. “She captured our relationship so perfectly that nothing else was needed,” Alana says. Two special people served as witnesses during the registry signing, adding a personal and meaningful touch.

The reception at The Trust was a treat for both the eyes and the heart. Long tables adorned with taper candles and thoughtfully placed centerpieces created a warm, inviting atmosphere. DJ Josh from Married to the Groove set the perfect tone, transitioning from funky disco beats during cocktail hour to big band classics during dinner.

Their reception featured the iconic statement “My dress is more important than the styling,” proudly displayed on a fluted partition wall. This lighthearted touch perfectly captured Alana and Paul’s playful, no-fuss attitude toward their unique Melbourne wedding, where the focus was on their wedding day priorities and laughing along the way.

And when it came to the details, Paul’s budget spreadsheet played a starring role. “It was everything,” Alana recalls. “Paul had a spreadsheet for the spreadsheet. He tracked every cent, which made my wild ideas feel like they had a solid foundation!” While Alana’s creative vision took center stage, Paul’s meticulous budget planning ensured that they could pull off a dream wedding without overspending. It was this combination of creativity and precision that made their wedding day feel like a seamless, unforgettable experience.

This vintage wedding cake is a fun and cheeky nod to their personalities, perfectly showing off their down-to-earth vibe and unapologetically unique style as a couple at their unique Melbourne wedding.

In a fun twist, Alana and Paul ditched the traditional first dance and opened the floor with Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat.” “We just wanted everyone to have fun, be well-fed, and enjoy every detail,” Alana shares. And they did—guests are still raving about the seamless planning and unforgettable atmosphere, thanks to their incredible team of vendors.

For Alana and Paul, their unique Melbourne wedding wasn’t just a party—it was an authentic reflection of their love, their quirks, and the life they’ve built together. “Plan a wedding that speaks to you as a couple,” Alana advises. “Forget trends and outside opinions. This is your day. Don’t sweat the small stuff; nobody cares about cutlery! Focus on what you’ll remember: great food, good music, and moments that feel like you. And negotiate hard for the things that matter—like your dream dress!”

Styling One of Texas’ Coolest Houses for an Intimate Wedding

November 22, 2024 | justine

Finding the right wedding venue is key—it sets the vibe for your entire celebration. And when a place already has character and charm, it’s the perfect starting point. That’s exactly what this talented team of vendors found in Bloomhouse in Austin, Texas. This unique location brought a sense of magic, elegance, and whimsy to their vision, creating an unforgettable styled shoot.

Bloomhouse has an amazing history. Back in the early 1970s, Dalton Bloom set out to build a timeless space, and architect Charles Harker took on the challenge. Together, they created an otherworldly structure nestled in a wooded valley of West Austin. With its flowing, organic shapes, Bloomhouse seems to grow right out of the earth, inspired by the natural curves of wind and air. After 11 years in the making, this remarkable home quickly became known as an architectural marvel.

Now, Bloomhouse welcomes small weddings and elopements, making it a unique addition to the wedding scene. In this styled shoot, the team leaned into the whimsical, natural vibe with lush greenery draped over the building’s curves, forming a beautiful altar for vows. The terrace offered an intimate setting for a cozy reception, with earthy centerpieces of blooms and moss and touches of blue, white, and gold for a fresh, modern feel.

If you’re a couple who loves both art and architecture, this Bloomhouse shoot is the ultimate inspiration. Laurie Nicole Photo captured every detail beautifully, showcasing how the right venue can bring your wedding dreams to life in an unforgettable way.

Elegant Weekend Long Boschendal Wedding

November 8, 2024 | justine

If you’ve ever dreamed of a mountain wedding that’s both elegant and ethereal, this Boschendal wedding is everything you could hope for. Set in the stunning Cape Winelands, Hannah and Sam’s big day was all about jaw-dropping views, gorgeous flowers, and creative, personal touches. Having lived in South Africa, Hannah knew Boschendal was the perfect place for their special day, a full-circle moment shared with friends and family.  And to kick off the weekend? The welcome party featured wine tasting aboard a wine tram—talk about setting the vibe for an amazing celebration!

The ceremony itself was like something out of a dream. Picture this: an all-white setup with a stunning mountain backdrop, ghost chairs, and a white aisle that led to the most gorgeous altar, framed by lush floral arrangements. Every detail just made the mountains behind them pop even more. As if the ceremony wasn’t enough, the reception took things to the next level. Guests got to “ring for their drink” at this fun seating chart, and the tables were covered with the bride’s favorite cascading hydrangeas. The high ceilings and draped fabric gave the whole space such a romantic, whimsical feel—it was perfection.

From start to finish, this Boschendal wedding is packed with inspiration. If you’re planning your big day, get ready to fill up your Pinterest boards because you won’t want to miss any of it. Every beautiful moment was captured by Junebug vendor Chrisel Mouton, and trust me—you’ll want to see every last detail.

The Couple:

Hannah and Sam

The Wedding:

Boschendal, Groot, Franschhoek, South Africa

The Inspiration and Vibe Behind Their Boschendal Wedding

We wanted something that felt regal and elegant and perfectly matched the stunning backdrop of Stellenbosch. I had been saving ideas on Pinterest since our engagement, and we made sure to stay true to that vision. Seeing our loved ones gathered in a place so close to our hearts and finally walking down the aisle to become husband and wife was incredible. Having our sons there, dressed in little tuxedos, made it even more special. The whole day—from the ceremony to the reception—was filled with this incredible energy that we’ll never forget.

Tips for Couples Planning Their Big Day

Our advice to other couples would be to enjoy every moment—even though it can be stressful. It’s totally worth it when the day finally arrives. After months of planning, seeing everything come together is such an incredible feeling. Honestly, I’m a little sad it’s all over now because I loved having something to plan.

Seamless Four-Day Itinerary for Their Guests

One of the best parts for us was the four-day itinerary and planning. Starting with the welcome party, we got to greet everyone before the main events, which was such a nice way to ease into the celebration. The wine tram around Stellenbosch was a huge hit—our guests loved getting to explore the area and, of course, taste some incredible wines. As for the wedding day, it flowed perfectly. Our wedding planner made everything seamless so we could just relax and enjoy every moment.

Splurging on The Bride’s Favorite Florals

Our biggest splurge was definitely the hydrangeas—Hannah’s favorite flowers. We had this vision of them running down the center of the tables and spilling onto the floor, so we went all out with them. To make it work within our budget, we had to cut back on some of the downlighting and draping, but simplifying those elements didn’t take away from the look. The hydrangeas were worth every penny.

The Sweet Reason Why They Chose to Tie the Knot at Boschendal

Boschendal held a special place in my heart since I had visited it while living in South Africa, so it felt like the perfect spot for us to tie the knot and celebrate with our friends, family, and little ones. Having everyone stay on-site was a game-changer; we wanted to be together as much as possible over the four-day celebration. From start to finish, the staff at Boschendal was incredible, and Claudia from the events team was always there to help with anything we needed. Since it was a destination wedding with a smaller guest list, we carefully chose our nearest and dearest—those we couldn’t imagine celebrating without. It all made for a truly unforgettable day.

Watercolor Portraits as Unique Wedding Favors

We wanted to do something a little different for our guests, so we decided to give them personalized watercolor portraits, and Danielle Jordaan Studio did an amazing job! Everyone was blown away by the attention to detail, and it’s a keepsake that they can cherish for years to come. So many of our guests were thrilled to frame their portraits as soon as they got home.

The Couple:

Gabriella and Michele

The Wedding:

Hjörleifshöfði, Iceland

Starting Their Ethereal Iceland Elopement with an Epic Ice Cave Adventure

The most memorable part of our wedding day was hiking through the Katla ice cave in our wedding dresses. It was an incredible experience to be walking on ice in such an epic setting, and the contrast of our dresses with the surroundings made it even more special. The adventure and unique location made the day unforgettable and the perfect way to start our marriage.

Achieving Understated Elegance with Black Accents and Natural Beauty

For our wedding day, incorporating black accents was vital to us, adding a touch of sophistication to our overall aesthetic. Gabriella wore a beautiful black veil, and the end result was a beautiful blend of understated elegance and personal style, allowing us to shine on our special day. We also wanted our looks to reflect our natural selves, so we opted for minimal makeup and braided hairstyles. We believe simplicity can be elegant and want to feel comfortable and authentic. Our stylist captured our vision perfectly. We shared inspirational pictures with her, focusing on soft, natural looks that complemented the stunning surroundings of Yoda Cave. The end result was a beautiful blend of understated elegance and personal style, allowing us to shine on our special day.

Embracing Iceland’s Natural Beauty for a Raw and Ethereal Ethereal Iceland Elopement Ceremony

Our wedding took place in a cave in Iceland, so the location’s natural beauty heavily influenced the vibe, style, and design. We wanted a raw, organic, and intimate feel, blending the dramatic surroundings with minimal decor. The cave’s textures and lighting created an ethereal atmosphere, and we added subtle touches—like candlelight and greenery—to enhance the space without overshadowing its natural charm. It felt like a magical, hidden world, perfectly reflecting the adventurous spirit of our relationship.

The Special Touch That Made Their Ceremony Unforgettable

One of the best surprises on our wedding day was when Michele arranged for a live musician to perform during the ceremony. Such an unexpected and personal touch made the moment even more special.

Trusting Your Wedding Planner is Vital

Our best wedding planning advice is to trust your wedding planners, especially if you’re working with someone as incredible as Pink Iceland. They truly made our vision come to life and took so much of the stress out of the process. Communicate what you want, then trust the experts to handle the details. Pink Iceland did a fantastic job with our unique wedding, and we couldn’t have asked for a better planner.

Transforming Their Wedding into an Unforgettable Adventure

We’re incredibly proud that we could give our families and friends a true adventure. Our wedding wasn’t just a ceremony—it was a journey. From the stunning landscapes of Iceland to the unique experience of a cave wedding, it was unlike anything most of our guests had ever done before. Many traveled from far away, and we wanted to make sure the trip was unforgettable for them, too. It was incredible to share such an extraordinary location and create lasting memories together in a way that went far beyond a typical wedding day.

Prioritizing Family and Connection

The most important aspects of planning our wedding were ensuring our family could all stay together, choosing the perfect location, and creating an adventure of a lifetime. We wanted the experience to feel connected and intimate, so having everyone together in one place was a priority. Skálakot Manor provided all of this; it was a beautiful and cozy place for everyone to stay and perfectly complemented the Icelandic landscape with its charm and elegance. The location was key—we wanted somewhere breathtaking and unique, and Iceland was perfect for that. Ultimately, we wanted our wedding to be more than just a day; we wanted it to be a memorable journey we could share with our loved ones.

Why They Chose Yoda Cave as Backdrop of Their Special Day

We chose Yoda Cave in Iceland as our wedding venue because of our shared love for caves and the breathtaking natural beauty that surrounds them. The cave’s unique formations and serene atmosphere create an enchanting backdrop that perfectly reflects our personalities and relationships. We wanted our special day to accurately represent who we are, and Yoda Cave offered us an unforgettable experience surrounded by nature’s splendor.

Their talented team of vendors thoughtfully crafted every detail, perfectly complementing the stunning setting to create a gorgeous wedding. Fortunately, Junebug vendor Asteria Photography was there to capture all the incredible moments and exquisite elements. You’ll certainly want to add these images to your  chic and polished wedding mood board!

The Wedding:

Château de Champlâtreux, Épinay-Champlâtreux, France

The Perfect Blend of Classic Elegance and Romance at Their Château de Champlâtreux Destination Wedding

We aimed for a classic, timeless, and elegant vibe for our wedding. Our design choices were intentionally made to ensure they would always stay in style, allowing the beauty of the venue to shine. Our minimalistic and simplistic aesthetic perfectly complemented the atmosphere we envisioned. We invited our guests to dress in all black to enhance the overall vibe, creating a chic and sophisticated look. The night itself was pure magic: with clear skies, a gentle breeze, and a perfect temperature of 75 degrees, it was breathtakingly calming and genuinely everything we dreamed of. The warm glow of romantic candlelight added an enchanting touch, illuminating the evening and creating a fairytale ambiance we will never forget.

A Day Filled with Unforgettable Moments

Every moment of the day was unforgettable, from the heartfelt speeches to the emotional moment of seeing each other at the end of the aisle. Watching our guests arrive and witnessing their joyful reactions was truly special, and dancing the night away with everyone made it all the more magical. It truly was the best and most memorable day of our lives.

The Importance of Finding the Right Planner

My top wedding planning advice is to hire an amazing planner with whom you have a genuine emotional connection. Things may go awry, but sharing that bond creates a mutual understanding that you’re both on the same team, ready to tackle any challenges together. I had a clear vision for our wedding and was searching for a planner who would not only understand it, but would also be inspired by it. When I saw our planner’s eyes light up as I shared my ideas, I knew she was the perfect fit. Additionally, being organized is essential—juggling multiple tasks can be overwhelming, so having a way to stay connected with your team, like a radio in your ear, is helpful. I take immense pride in every detail of our wedding. Jordan and I dedicated over a year to planning, and seeing our vision come to life was truly special. We paid close attention to every detail, putting our heart and soul into each decision. It’s gratifying to know we brought our dream to fruition.

Maximizing Their Budget for a Dream Wedding

My main focus in planning was anticipating potential issues and having a backup plan in place. As a Virgo and a perfectionist, it was crucial for me that everything went smoothly without significant hiccups. We aimed to maximize our budget while creating our dream wedding, ensuring that our guests felt cherished. We needed to host a wedding and create an unforgettable experience for everyone. With guests traveling worldwide, we wanted to make the entire experience as easy and seamless as possible for them.

Embracing the Venue’s Natural Beauty

Our wedding planner immediately identified Château de Champlâtreux as our perfect venue. When we traveled to Paris seven months before the wedding, we braved the winter rain and ice to see it in person, and despite the weather, we instantly knew it was the one. The venue’s inherent beauty spoke for itself, which was essential since we envisioned a minimalistic design. We wanted a space that would captivate on its own. The timeless elegance of the château made it an obvious choice. Additionally, we were determined to have most of the wedding outdoors, and August typically offers ideal weather. Its convenient location near the heart of Paris, where many of our guests would be staying, made it the perfect fit. It truly checked off every box for us.

Personal Touches That Made Their Château de Champlâtreux Destination Wedding Unique

There were little personalized touches of Jordan and me everywhere. Our unique seating chart featured an envelope containing the table numbers and a customized note from Jordan and me. We wanted each guest to feel cherished and unique, and this unexpected touch brought tears, laughter, and joy. It truly added a heartfelt element to the day. In addition to the personalized seating chart with notes for our guests, we named three signature cocktails that were special to us. One was called “Wade’s World” to show love for our three-year-old golden retriever, whom we missed so much. We also had our custom logo on all the bars and the dance floor, along with custom napkins, kippahs, and matches. We wanted everything to feel very intimate and personal.

Elegant and Woodsy RT Lodge Wedding

October 27, 2024 | justine

Katrina and Nicholas envisioned an unforgettable wedding weekend with their closest family and friends, and they made it happen. They chose the natural beauty of RT Lodge as their setting, combining its rustic charm with elegant details and incredible food as the centerpiece. Their RT Lodge wedding was a perfect blend of woodsy elegance, filled with personal touches,  stunning decor, and florals that created an extraordinary and memorable celebration.

In the middle of a winding road surrounded by tall trees, the couple exchanged their vows, with beautiful flowers framing the special moment. After their woodland ceremony, the pair, being food lovers, chose to have a tented reception. They enjoyed a delicious meal at long tables decorated with low flower arrangements and candles, all set under a canopy of greenery and twinkling fairy lights.

The intimate details, thoughtful touches, and stunning landscape made their big day special. If you and your partner are dreaming of a celebration centered around nature, family, and delicious food, this is the perfect inspiration. Keep scrolling to explore every beautiful detail and unforgettable moment, all beautifully captured by Grace Torres Photo.

The Couple:

Katrina and Nicholas

The Wedding:

RT Lodge, Maryville, Tennessee

Creating Their Dream RT Lodge Wedding Experience

We took a road trip during our search, staying at four different venues and meeting with their wedding planners. RT Lodge was the last stop, and we knew right when we checked into our room that it felt like home. We are foodies, so food was essential to us. After a dinner with their renowned chef, Trevor Stockton, we knew we absolutely needed to have his food at our wedding. The cherry on top was our meeting the next day with our wedding planner. She was incredibly sweet and organized and catered to our every need. She showed us various options for ceremony locations, and I knew I wanted a unique place to hold the ceremony. RT Lodge’s “winding road” was charming and perfect. After our time at RT Lodge, we knew it was the perfect place to have our wedding.

How Their Venue Influenced Their Wedding Aesthetic

I’m a huge gardener, so I wanted the flowers to reflect what I love to grow. We chose a colorful arrangement of pinks, oranges, yellows, and a small splash of blue. The woods of RT Lodge also inspired the next steps in our wedding planning. The save-the-dates were engraved wooden magnets, and the invitations mirrored the color palette, featuring a personalized map of RT Lodge. We found rental shelves, couches, tables, chairs, gorgeous velvet green tablecloths, and crystal-patterned champagne glasses for our champagne tower. The setting of our cocktail hour was pure elegance, with florals, crystal glasses, charcuterie boards, and falling leaves from the Smoky Mountain trees. The escort cards were a DIY wooden holder and card that embodied the woodsy feel of RT Lodge, displayed on beautiful shelves in front of the koi pond. Allowing the venue to inspire us was the best way to create a cohesive wedding day.

Personal Stories Weaved Into Their Ceremony

We wanted a very intimate ceremony where our guests could truly dive into our love story and really understand who we were together and why we were getting married. Nick’s youth pastor served as our officiant, and we met with him several times before the wedding to discuss the ceremony sequence and content. He also met with us individually to gather personal stories about one another that he could incorporate. He began the ceremony by sharing these stories, reflecting on his experience watching Nick grow up, and finally, our love story. We asked my sister to be part of our ceremony by reading our favorite Bible verse, Romans 12:9-18. She’s always been a huge supporter of our relationship and sounding board as we fell in love. The best and most special part of our ceremony was our vows. We decided a few months before the wedding to write our own meaningful vows to each other. We both read our vows from our leather notebooks and at the end, we put our vows and a five-year note to one another into a custom wooden box. We also included a bottle of wine and our guests’ notes and nailed it shut.

Adding a Fun Twist with a Wedding Newspaper and Scratch-Off Surprises

We created a newspaper for the wedding with a scratch-off ticket attached. In the early days of our long-distance relationship, Nick would surprise me with a scratch-off every time we met, so we thought it would be a fun touch to include them in the celebration. At the end of the night, Nick and I discovered a stack of leftover scratch-offs and decided to scratch them off together. Our friends were surrounding us, so we had an incredible cheering squad. Unfortunately, there were no winners, but it was incredibly memorable as we scratched them off while signing our wedding paperwork.

The Importance of a Trustworthy Wedding Team

Hire a team that you trust so you can live your day to the fullest! Surround yourself with vendors and planners who understand your vision and can handle all the details, big and small. When you have confidence in your team, you won’t have to stress about timelines, setups, or last-minute changes. Instead, you can relax and truly immerse yourself in each moment, whether walking down the aisle, dancing with loved ones, or simply enjoying the atmosphere you’ve created. Being fully present without worrying will allow you to soak up all the joy and love of your special day, making it everything you’ve dreamed of and more.

Creating the Perfect Vibe with Reception Music and Serving Up Favorite Late-Night Snacks

One of the biggest compliments we received was about our reception music. We used a recommended DJ from our venue, and had several meetings with him before the event. We were very specific about what music we wanted to be played and provided him with “no” and “need to play” lists. This made sure the vibe of our night was spot on. The dance floor was packed all evening, and people partied the night away. After the reception, we hosted an after-party in the bar of RT Lodge. This was an incredible spot for our late-night guests to gather and continue the celebration. We served pizza rolls and chicken tenders, which are our favorite late-night snacks. They were a huge hit! Tailoring the wedding to what you both enjoy is incredibly important, creating a space you’ll love.

Transforming Their Celebration into a Vacation for Guests

We are most proud of the venue and how seamlessly the weekend flowed. Everything about our weekend conveyed a sense of elegant comfort. It was beautiful and luxurious but still refreshing. The staff at RT Lodge played a huge part in the weekend’s success. Since we had the whole venue for ourselves, each room, meal, and event was catered entirely to our needs. We wanted our wedding to be an incredible experience for our guests. We loved RT Lodge so much that we knew a destination wedding there would be worth it and wanted to show our guests how wonderful the location was. Once we found RT Lodge, we knew we wanted it to be an exclusive, weekend-long event where we could maximize our time with our guests. We hosted events from Friday night to Sunday morning, allowing us to see everyone much more than just the wedding day. Our guests swooned over the venue, the hiking trails, the food, and the cozy setting in the woods. Not only did they attend our wedding, but they truly had a vacation.

Unique and Thoughtful Wedding Favors

We arranged a few special favors for our guests. At the welcome party on Friday, we set out kettle corn for all of our guests. They packaged it beautifully, and our guests devoured it the first night. We handed out personalized newspapers that I designed and printed on authentic newsprint in London for the wedding day. We attached a scratch-off lottery ticket to all newspapers and a story in the paper explaining how, early in our long-distance relationship, Nick would always bring me a scratch-off. This became a fun tradition we shared each time we saw each other.

This Colorful Casa Aragón Wedding Had a Ceremony That Represented The Four Elements

Lina and Pablo’s Casa Aragón wedding was a vibrant, intimate celebration that broke away from traditional norms. With the help of Junebug vendor Flora Wedding Studio, they crafted a special day that truly reflected their personalities. Surrounded by close family and friends, their ceremony was deeply personal, symbolizing their journey through the four elements—fire, air, water, and earth—each stage marking a special moment of unity and love.

After the ceremony, Lina and Pablo’s guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour with a Hawaiian band and fun games. Dinner followed, featuring a selection of local dishes and an informal toast from the couple. The dessert table offered unique twists on traditional Colombian treats. The party brought everything together, with a DJ playing ’90s and 2000s hits and neon decor highlighting the groom’s love for electronic music, creating a vibrant and unforgettable celebration.

If you’re looking for inspiration on how to infuse your personality and interests into every aspect of your celebration while maintaining a cohesive and elegant theme, this wedding is one to check out. The beautiful photos by Serendipity Storytellers perfectly capture the essence of their love story and the unforgettable day they created.

The Couple:

Lina and Pablo

The Wedding:

Casa Aragón, Colombia

How They Brought Their Casa Aragón Wedding To Life

Our wedding was intimate, with a few guests consisting of close family and friends. We wanted a relaxed style, something more colorful and alternative to a traditional cathedral wedding or boho style. Together with Flora Wedding Studio, we designed the wedding we had dreamed of, and they made it a reality. The decor reflected our personalities and tastes: vibrant colors, flowers, casual food, and party elements with retro games.

A Personalized Casa Aragón Wedding Ceremony Celebrating the Elements

The ceremony was deeply personalized. We designed it with our officiant, who guided us through four stages, each representing one of the four elements to unite us. First was fire, where we let go of anything that no longer served us or worked for us as individuals and as a couple. We wrote down those things and burned them in a small bonfire. Next came air, where we shared heartfelt words with our parents to thank them for everything they had done for us, acknowledging that from now on, the path ahead was entirely ours. Water followed, marked by a toast during which our groomsman and bridesmaid shared words of wisdom and well wishes. Finally, we reached earth, where we planted a small tree together as a symbol of the future we wish to cultivate. As a lighthearted touch, there was even a fifth element—love—which closed the ceremony. Both of us, along with our parents and closest friends, actively participated, making it a truly meaningful and unique experience.

A Vibrant Evening of Music, Games, and Local Cuisine

We then moved on to a cocktail hour with a Hawaiian band and different games for the guests. After that, we had dinner, where we gave an informal toast, and the guests enjoyed a selection of local dishes. The dessert table offered reinterpretations of Colombian desserts. Finally, at the party, everything came together: we enjoyed the music from the DJ, to whom we had specially requested songs from the ’90s and 2000s, along with neon decor in honor of the groom’s love for electronic music.

A Festive Night with Mexican Vibes and Custom Cocktails

We both love tacos, but the groom especially, since he was born in Mexico. Because of this, there were also some nods to Mexican culture, like the DJ’s backing in neon light (Amor & Tacos), some of the food, and a piñata at the party. One of the main attractions was the bar, where cocktails and drinks inspired by our dogs were freely served throughout the night. The Bailey Mule (our twist on the Moscow Mule) glasses were specially made for this day, adding a personal and fun touch to the celebration.

Polaroid Memories and Thoughtful Table Décor

During the cocktail hour, dinner, and party, we used Polaroid cameras to capture our guests’ unique moments and special memories. It was a fun and spontaneous way to document the day and create tangible memories for everyone. One of the things that best captured the vibe and essence of who I am was the table décor: the flowers, the numbers, and the plates. Everything was carefully designed to reflect my style and personality, making that part of the wedding especially meaningful to me.

The Importance of Choosing Your Wedding Planner Early

Choose your wedding planner as soon as possible and, ideally, work together to co-create what you want. Don’t leave it for the last minute like we did! I feel like I chose all the vendors in a random order. Thankfully, Jessica, the founder of Flora Wedding Studio, came into our lives, helped us organize everything we had, and brought our vision to life quickly. We also recommend that you participate in co-creating concepts and making mood boards with your wedding planner if you enjoy the creative process. It will help you visualize your expectations and communicate your dreams clearly.
