Modern Pastel Pink Atelier Playa Mujeres Wedding

October 15, 2023 | justine

When Richmond and Aja were still a new couple, they went on a fun Christmas trip to a resort in Mexico. But here’s the twist. The resort staff mistook them for another couple and gave them a special tour of the bridal lounge, complete with a look at the wedding packages. Fast forward to their engagement, they decided to tie the knot in the very place where the idea of marriage had first been introduced to them. And let us tell you, their celebration was stunning! They wanted to show off the amazing Caribbean views, so they chose understated decor and a soft color palette for their Atelier Playa Mujeres wedding. The result? A seamless blend with the natural charm of the location, creating a wedding day that resembled a true fairy tale.

With its unparalleled views of the sea and the surrounding tropical landscape, the luxury resort became the ideal venue for their special day. The rooftop deck, with a white aisle and altar adorned with pastel ground arrangements against an unobstructed ocean backdrop, was set for a romantic ceremony. The following beachfront reception effortlessly blended minimalist decor and natural elements. To create a dreamy atmosphere, they finished the look with an installation of greenery and chandeliers above a mirrored tablescape filled with candles, along with pink and gold accents.

Just when you thought this wedding couldn’t get any better, here comes the bride in her strapless gown with a sweeping train overskirt and the groom looking dashing in his classic tuxedo. If you and your partner are passionate about adventure, travel, and the beach, these breathtaking photos captured by Junebug member Lite Weddings are the inspiration you’ve been searching for. Keep scrolling to discover every element of their special day—from the stylish fashion to the stunning location.

A Vacation Mix-Up That Led Them to Choose an Atelier Playa Mujeres Wedding

Early in the relationship for a Christmas vacation, we went to the Atelier Playa Mujeres . We were mistaken for another couple, taken on a bridal lounge tour, and introduced to the resort’s wedding packages. We politely admitted to not being engaged, and the concierge insisted one day, we would be planning a wedding at the Atelier ourselves. They actually took photos of us in the exact spot where we were married. So naturally, it felt right to host our wedding at the place where marriage was first brought up.

Their Private Vows Allowed Them to Carve Out Some Alone Time Amidst the Wedding Chaos

The most memorable part of the day was our private vows. This allowed us a moment to freeze time on such a frantic yet highly anticipated day. We completely disconnected from what seemed like the rest of the world while we made our sacred promises to one another in complete exclusivity.

Turning Wedding Planning Into a Fun Bonding Experience

Planning may seem like a never-ending to-do list, but keep it light and turn it into fun activities. Use it as a time to bond with those positive people who want to assist in stressful times and laugh with you about it later. Celebrate the completion of tasks along the way with your partner. We used planning to incorporate our families and friends and further our understanding of each other’s styles, values, and cultures.

Hiring a Wedding Content Creator For Their Atelier Playa Mujeres Wedding Was an Added Bonus

In addition to hiring our dream photographers and videographers, Richmond and I decided to hire a wedding content creator as well. Our content creator, Dula Media, was able to capture behind-the-scenes and candid moments throughout our entire wedding weekend. The major perk to having a content creator was the quick turnaround time on raw, uncut, professional-quality footage. Dula Media took over my social media platforms and did all of the posting on my behalf during the wedding weekend and did collaboration posts after the wedding.

Focusing on Creating a Fun, Dance-Filled Reception

The aspect of our wedding that we are most proud of is the environment we created for the enjoyment of our reception. We wanted to maximize time on the dance floor, so we decided to avoid traditional activities like cutting a cake, bouquet, garter tosses, posed photos, etc. We both love a good party, which we bonded over upon meeting in college. So we wanted our reception to mirror that. Our favorite DJ from our college town knew exactly what to do to fulfill our vision.

Desert Disco Rimrock Ranch Wedding in Pioneer Town

October 14, 2023 | justine

Cassandra and Jay, completely enchanted by the desert’s charm, set off on an exciting adventure. While Cassandra typically specializes in photographing lush tropical weddings, when it came to her own, she yearned for something entirely unique. The desert in Pioneertown, with its enchanting dusty hues and rolling low mountains, turned out to be the perfect canvas for their dream celebration. With the help of their top-notch vendors, they transformed their Rimrock Ranch wedding venue into the ultimate setting for their rustic desert disco-themed celebration.

With a geometric arch beautifully framing the desert oasis in the background, the couple exchanged their heartfelt vows. The on-site reception was a charming al fresco dining setup beneath disco balls and string lights, all complemented by a chic teepee lounge. It was a romantic California desert wedding, made even more special by the breathtaking view!

If you’re a fan of dreamy boho vibes, then prepare to be blown away. Their special day was brimming with stunning details and panoramic desert views, all beautifully captured by Junebug member Julieta Rabadan. Keep scrolling to see exactly what we mean!

Embracing Authenticity Through Wedding Fashion

I love Rue de Seine wedding gowns and fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on. I wore my own boots that I’ve had for a few years and my favorite gold earrings that I wear all the time. I wanted to feel like me on my wedding day instead of getting overly glammed into someone unrecognizable. And my patterned Rue de Seine wedding dress was the only dress I can imagine having worn for the occasion.

A Desert Love Affair: Choosing The Perfect Wedding Setting

I’m from Miami, but I’ve always loved the desert and the vibe and aesthetic that it offers. As a wedding photographer, I wanted a different look to my wedding than what I’m used to shooting in a lush tropical climate. So the dusty hues, low mountains, and dry vegetation around Joshua Tree and Pioneertown were perfect for us. I fell in love with Rimrock Ranch when I toured the venue and hired Julieta Rabadan to photograph it because we’ve worked together a lot on weddings before, and I knew she would do an incredible job. My friend, Megan Morrison with 9 Lives Designs, is an amazing wedding designer and planner, so she put together the decor, florals, backdrop, and rentals and made the day happen.

Why a Rimrock Ranch Wedding Was the Right Choice for Them

Rimrock Ranch was the perfect venue for our vision, with mountains in the background, Joshua trees on the property, thoughtful little touches of character everywhere, and guest accommodations. Gwen Barker, who runs Rimrock, was a great help in planning our day from the start. Keeping the rustic, desert disco aesthetic I had in mind and having the best vendors to help make it happen.

Personalizing Their Ceremony With a Unique Take on Their Vows

Our officiant Celene de Miranda from Wedding in the Desert, was super in tune with what we had in mind and tailored a beautiful, intimate ceremony for us, with poems she had us choose and a fun style for our vows. We wrote them but read them together, alternating line by line.

Wedding Planning Advice: Trust Your Instincts

Go with your gut, and don’t do or plan things just because you think it’s what other people want. This day is about you and should reflect your style and vision. I am proud of the team I assembled to make the day happen. Marrying the love of my life in such a magical place, surrounded by my favorite people, and having my talented friends as my photographer and planner.

Setting The Right Wedding Vibe With Music

My friend Mark Brickman is a DJ in Miami and graciously played at our wedding even though he’s not at all a wedding DJ. He set the vibe for the day and played our requests. I walked down the aisle to Petite Noir’s “MDR,” our recessional song was “Babe, We’re Gonna Love Tonight” by Lime, and our first dance song was Hot Chip’s “Look At Where We Are.” The rest of the night was disco vibes.

Personalized Wedding Gift Bags And Jewelry

We made everyone a little gift bag that included a drawing by my husband, a bandana, a disco ball keychain, a metal collapsible straw, and electrolyte powder packets. I also gave my close girlfriends jewelry from Ink + Alloy.

There’s nothing quite like a picturesque, secluded spot to enhance the romance—just like this desert celebration. More often than not, the backdrop of a wedding sets the tone. How to Address the Dress Code for Your Wedding

October 13, 2023 | riley

When it comes to wedding planning, choosing the perfect dress code is just as important as selecting the venue, flowers, and catering. A well-thought-out dress code not only sets the tone for your big day but also helps guests feel comfortable and confident in their attire. However, what was once a simple concept has become far more complex. We’re seeing countless new dress codes pop up, and explaining your vision to your guests may feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re breaking down how to address the dress code for a wedding, from including it on your invitations to wording it on a wedding website. We’re also touching on the various types of dress codes to consider, and one of the biggest questions you may be asking yourself–is it okay to give your guests a color palette?

How to Address Dress Code on Wedding Invitations

Be Clear and Specific

Because you don’t have much room on a wedding invitation, it’s important to be clear and specific about what you want the dress code to be. Make sure it’s easy to spot, and use clear language that leaves no room for ambiguity. For example, use terms like “black tie,” “casual,” or “cocktail attire.”

Offer Additional Information

After you’ve listed your dress code, consider offering a brief note or line beneath it to explain it further. For instance, if your dress code is black tie, consider adding a line that says, “Please wear formal evening attire” or “Men wear a tuxedo, and women wear a floor-length dress.” The same can be said for a casual dress code. You can write something along the lines of “Dress comfortably to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.”

Point to Your Website

If you’re doing both invitations and a website, you can also point to your website on the invites. Mention the site and any necessary information (like if you have an FAQ page on the site that may answer any questions they may have). This way, your guests know how to find it and always have it to reference as needed.

How to Write Dress Code on Wedding Website

Explain the Dress Code

Wedding websites provide a much larger space to describe your dress code. We suggest creating a dedicated page on your wedding website to detail each dress code option. If your site does not have multiple pages, we recommend putting the dress code under the welcome message with all the other must-know info.

While you should follow the advice we mentioned for invitations, you can also provide examples of what is acceptable and what should be avoided. This could be through photos or a bulleted list. This is also a great place to put a color palette example if you’re having guests wear specific colors (i.e., pastels). You can easily make one on Canva and upload the image to the site as a visual.

Offer Shopping Tips

If you want to take it a step further, suggest where guests can shop for appropriate attire, especially if your dress code is a little more unique (i.e., boho chic or 1920s glam). However, this is not necessary, and your guests won’t expect it, so don’t fret if you don’t have ideas.

Mention Weather Considerations

Lastly, it’s important to mention weather considerations. If your wedding is outdoors or in a specific climate, advise guests on how to dress comfortably. Suggest that they bring jackets and shawls if you know it’s going to be cool, or opt for small hand fans and sunglasses if it’s going to be warm and sunny out.

Is It Okay to Give Your Guests a Color Palette?

While we’re on the topic of dress codes, there’s been a trend that we’ve seen go around that could be considered… controversial. More and more couples are choosing to give their guests a color palette to ensure that their big day looks cohesive. If you’ve been wondering if it’s okay to do so, we’re here to help. The answer is absolutely. It’s your big day, and if you want your guests to wear all black or an array of pastels, there’s nothing wrong with that. While guests may be a little annoyed that they have to buy a new outfit for the day, they’re there to celebrate you. They’ll get past it.

The Four Main Types of Dress Codes

White Tie

A white tie dress code is the most formal option you can give your guests. Men are expected to wear tuxedos, while women should wear elegant evening gowns. Accessories like bowties, formal heels, jewelry, and a classic clutch are a must. This is one of the less common dress codes. However, if you feel like going all out, we say go for it. It’s important to note that this is different from black tie.

Black Tie

So what’s the difference, you may be asking yourself? While women are expected to still wear floor-length dresses that hide their ankles, the dress can be a bit more informal so long as it still touches the floor. Men are to wear tuxes, a bowtie or vest, and formal dress shoes. If the wedding is in the summer, guests also have the option to wear a white tuxedo jacket.

Cocktail Attire

Cocktail attire is a step below black tie and offers guests more flexibility in what they wear–that’s why it’s one of the most popular dress codes used. It’s the perfect balance between casual and formal, allowing men to wear suits and ties and women to wear floor-length, tea-length, or midi dresses. Separates are also more acceptable under this dress code.

If you’re looking to do cocktail attire for your big day, but you don’t mind your guests dressing up if they want, you can also list it as black-tie optional. Not sure what that is? That’s okay, we have a whole blog about it!

Casual

A casual dress code is exactly what it sounds like–laidback. It’s ideal for relaxed, informal weddings. These dress codes are typically used at an outdoor or beach wedding and include slack and dress shirts, summer dresses, and shoes such as wedges or dressy sandals. Although the name is deceiving, unless a couple okays it beforehand, jeans are not acceptable.

Final Thoughts on How to Address the Dress Code for a Wedding

These are just four of the most common dress codes. We could go on and on, listing the countless options that fall under the umbrella of these terms. Instead, when deciding on your dress code, go with your gut. Remember that while setting a dress code is helpful, it’s equally important to consider your guests’ comfort. Always be mindful of factors like the venue, weather, and your guests’ preferences when choosing a dress code.

If you want specific patterns, colors, and silhouettes, make it known. There’s nothing wrong with listing with one of the above dress codes and then expanding on your vision (especially if you have the space to do so on a wedding website).

Addressing the dress code for your wedding can be done easily through invitations and your wedding website. Choose a dress code that aligns with the tone of your wedding and your vision as a couple, and provide your guests with the information and guidance, and you’ll end up with one stunning celebration.
