September through November are some of the busiest months to tie the knot–and rightfully so! The colors of the leaves begin to change, the temperatures cool, and the holiday season begins. With fall wedding season approaching, we want to help you create an unforgettably warm and fuzzy autumnal celebration that will be talked about for years.

From fashion to foliage to food, we’ve rounded up 15 delightfully cozy fall wedding ideas that will ensure you feel the magic of the season. So get those wedding mood boards ready, because these ideas are sure to inspire you to fall in love with autumn weddings.

Fall Wedding Ideas

1. Dried Florals and Fronds

Flowers are one of the easiest ways to dress up a wedding venue and incorporate your color palette. When we think of spring and summer floral arrangements, we think of bright colors and fresh blooms. Fall is a great time to make the switch to deeper shades and dried florals to give your space texture and create a more Earthy feel.

The best part about using dried florals and fronds is that you don’t have to worry about your flowers dying throughout the day, and you can take them home afterwards for a memorable wedding keepsake.

2. Terracotta Color Palette

When we think of fall, we think of the color-changing trees that one would find in nature. There’s something so elegant about pairing deep reds, oranges, and golds together. Because this color palette is one that you find outside every year, we love the idea of tying it into your color scheme–especially since it’s one that will forever remain timeless.

This color palette looks especially beautiful in forest weddings and indoor spaces where the rest of the decor is rather simple–just like this real wedding featuring elegant terracotta bridesmaid dresses below!

3. Fresh Fruit

Autumn is harvest season, making it more than appropriate to use your favorite fruits as wedding decor. Ditch the florals all together, or add the fruit sporadically to your floral centerpieces. By pairing the two together, you enhance the table’s natural design.

Some of the best fruits to include in your decor include blood oranges, red pears, apples, blackberries, blueberries, figs, plums, pomegranates, and cherries. If you want to achieve the most natural-looking aesthetic possible, consider leaving your fruit on the branches when laying them out.

4. Colored Wedding Dresses

As years go by, more and more couples are choosing to ditch the traditional white wedding dresses and choose something with a bit more color. While we’re not saying you have to choose a black wedding dress–although, if you want to, we say go for it–we love the idea of adding subtle color to your wedding attire.

Most wedding dress designers offer multiple colors for a wedding dress–including champagne, blush, taupe, and grey. Not only will this make your dress a bit more unique, but it will also pair well with your fall color palette.

5. Jackets or Furs

One of the best reasons to get married in the fall is the cooler temps. You don’t have to worry about breaking a sweat, and in most places, the rainy season has passed. However, in many places, this also means that the temperature can drop drastically in the evenings. If you’re having an outdoor wedding–or you’re just looking for a creative way to accessorize–add a jacket (denim, leather, suede, etc.) or fur to your ensemble to stay warm.

If want something extra special, look into getting a custom-made jacket. It can include your married last name, your wedding date, a common wedding phrase such as “till death do us part”–you name it.

6. Velvet Bridesmaid Dresses

Velvet bridesmaid dresses are all the rage right now, and it doesn’t seem like they are going anywhere anytime soon. The luxe fabric is incredibly eye-catching and tends to come in a lot of the richer colors such as burgundy and orange–aka perfect for your autumnal affair!

If you love the look of mismatched bridesmaid dresses, mix and match colors, lengths, or fabrics. We can’t get enough of velvet mixed with satin and chiffon. Not to mention you can find beautiful velvet dresses in short, midi, and full-lengths.

7. Pie Or Other Seasonal Desserts

Here at Junebug, we’re all about embracing what makes you happiest on your special day. We know that not everyone is a cake person, so why not spice things up with a pie bar or individual mini pies? From pumpkin to apple to rhubarb to chocolate, there’s a pie for everyone. You can also include a dessert bar full of caramel apples, cinnamon rolls, donuts, churros, cheesecake, or s’mores. Bonus points if you display all of the goodies on unfinished wood stumps.

8. Fall-Inspired Cocktails

Signature cocktails tend to get overlooked when it comes to wedding planning, but they’re one of the easiest ways to show off your personalities and tie in your wedding theme. Fall is all about being warm and feeling at home, so including rich flavors such as cinnamon, vanilla, and allspice is ideal. Luckily, these spices pair perfectly with seasonal fruits such as apples and berries.

There is quite literally a fall-themed recipe for every single one of your favorite cocktails, but if you really want to lean into the season, include whiskey, bourbon, sangria, brandy, etc. Hot Toddy or mulled cider anyone?

9. Colored or Patterned Suits

Why let the wedding dress be the only pop of color when you can wear a colorful suit too? Though they may require a bit of research to find, there are suits in mustard, burgundy, brown, and orange that would match the rest of your decor flawlessly. And the best part about these suits is that they are universally flattering on every skin tone, so you can rock the color confidentially.

10. Feathers

If you’re saying, “I do” indoors and you want to bring the outside in, do so with feathers and other natural elements such as wood and cotton. It instantly gives your venue a rustic look and makes your guests feel as if they are one with the great outdoors. We absolutely love how this couple not only included feathers in their table settings but also in the groom’s attire as well.

11. Subtle Pumpkins

There’s nothing better than decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving once the season begins. If you’re tying the knot in October or November and you’re looking for a way to include the holidays into your decor without being too over-the-top, add subtle pumpkins and gourds to your decor. Using pumpkins of different shapes, sizes, and colors will add some dimension–especially if you pair them with greenery and candles of different heights.

12. Macrame

Macrame is not new to the wedding world. In fact, you’ve probably seen it in spring, summer, and winter weddings as well. While it can be used year-round, there are a few ways that you can make it specifically autumnal for your special day.

When paired with a wooden backdrop, dried florals, or an outdoor–specifically a forest–venue, you’re making the common decoration piece look much more natural. It also looks beautiful as a woven table runner. You can then layer rust-colored linens and pumpkins or other fruits on top to complete the look.

13. Family Style Dinners

Speaking of Thanksgiving, there’s something so cozy about celebrating and eating a family-style meal with your closest friends and family. If you’re hosting a micro-wedding or a small wedding where a family-style dinner is possible, we highly recommend it. Your night will surely be full of chilly fall air, cocktails to keep you warm, and a lot of laughter.

14. Blanket Wedding Favors

Comfort for your guests is key, especially during your ceremony. We find that guests throw out their wedding favors more often than not, so why not get them something that they will use time and time again? Ensure that everyone is warm and cozy while you exchange vows by handing out blankets beforehand or having them resting on the back of every seat. Chances are, if you are having both an outdoor ceremony and reception, they’ll get a lot of use throughout the event and your guests will be truly thankful.

15. End Of The Night Bonfires

It’s a known fact that there’s something magical about ending your evening sitting around a bonfire. Reminisce on your favorite moments of the day with your loved ones while enjoying a midnight s’mores snack.
