Whimsical Boho Oregon Wedding at Horning’s Hideout

January 5, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

When Shannon and Ian were planning their fairytale forest wedding, they took to Google to search for inspiration and fell madly in love with Horning’s Hideout! Shannon has a natural love for the environment, so it was important that the natural beauty of the venue shine through with minimal decor. Selva Floral Design did a magical job creating arrangements for the ceremony arch and reception area that complimented the enchanting forest vibes. If you love all things whimsical, we think you’re going to swoon over these photos by The Soft Season!

The Couple:

Shannon & Ian

The Wedding:

Horning’s Hideout, North Plains, Oregon

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Pick your memorable moments, everything else will fade over time so only focus on the things you want yourself and your guests to remember and highlight them in a way which resonates with you to make them uniquely yours and so looking back those moments will always bring joy. Additionally, have a vision and stick with it, by having a vision from the beginning it helped cut down on the stress. Lastly, love your wedding photographer and their style. Highly recommend using social media to your advantage and looking at different photography styles to narrow down what you would like.

I was inspired by Disney fairytale princesses. I am obsessed with my wedding dress, it was magical and made me feel gorgeous every time I put it on. My bridesmaids all chose their own dresses in shades of fire and our groomsmen were in bespoke navy suits.

I wanted a fairytale forest wedding so I googled forest weddings, found the most gorgeous inspiration, geolocated it, found the blog it was on where it was tagged, reached out to the property owner at Horning’s Hideout, and the rest is history.

We had so many fun personal touches, because there are a lot of traditional wedding elements which I felt didn’t resonate with us so we put our own spin on them. We had our own version of vows.

We found it very important to maintain our vision for the wedding. We wanted to create a unique interpretation of traditional wedding elements done in a modern way which created a better atmosphere and flow through out the event. This wedding was our opportunity to thank everyone in our lives who had played an instrumental role in helping us get to where we are so we wanted to take some of the focus off of ourselves and instead create a memorable intimate wedding where each of our guests felt welcomed and appreciated.

The WEDTalks! In lieu of toasts (which are usually the worst), we had organized WEDtalks. The rules were simple; no inside jokes, no telling us how great/amazing/etc we were (we were getting married, we know this), and instead talk about something you are passionate about and leave us with an inspired call to action. They could not have been better! We first heard from the bride’s brother with a powerpoint on Genetics and what our children would look like, when your speaker shows that your one year old goldendoodle puppy is destined to be your child, you know the bar is set incredibly high and the speeches are going to be incredible. This was followed by a speech on how to cure a hangover from our Resident MD and then a Maid of Honor speech on perspective. We wrapped our WEDtalk adventure with a FREDtalk from the CEO of Beck on family and friendship that left everyone buzzing about it for the rest of the weekend.

Wedding bells—and jingle bells—are ringing for holiday-loving couples dreaming of a festive celebration. It’s the most wonderful time of the year to trade decking the halls for decking your wedding out in fun, festive features. From fashion to decor, we’ve got you covered with inspiration to get started.

We’ve compiled a list of unique and festive wedding details that’ll have your wedding radiating the holiday spirit. From signature holiday cocktails to wedding favors your guests can hang on their tree, it’s clear that every wedding planning detail is better with a holiday twist.

Use A Holiday Color Palette

Your color palette is typically one of the first wedding planning details that gets chosen. It sets the stage for every detail to come, from decor to fashion. Selecting colors like white, red, emerald green, and gold are sure to add a simple, festive vibe to your big day.

If you need help deciding on the perfect color palette, you’re in luck. We’ve gathered winter colors that fit any wedding theme and style for you. Get cozy and get your Pinterest boards ready for these winter wedding palette ideas

Festive Invitation Suites

You can only make one first impression so make it a good one. Your invitation suite gives your guests a sneak peek at what’s to come on your big day.

A good rule of thumb—especially for wedding guests selecting the perfect outfit—is to stick with a color palette that compliments the wedding theme. Both you and your guests will use the invitation as a guide while preparing for the big day.

Shop festive invitation suites: Winter Wedding Invitation Suite ($11.99); Winter Berry Invitation Template Set ($14.99); Christmas Wedding Invitations ($11.99); Pine Wedding Invitation Template Suite ($9.99)

Festive Holiday Wedding Decor

The holiday season is a magical time of year and your wedding should feel just as magical. Decor is the best way to personalize your celebration—especially for holiday loving couples. From tablescapes to florals, and even signage. Here are the festive features that will add more personality and a fun holiday twist to your chilly wedding.

Welcome Signs

Your welcome sign greets your guests. This is your chance to really set the tone for your day in style. To fully transport them into a winter wonderland, deck out your welcome sign with holiday details. From the sign style to the quirky font, your options are endless.

Florals and Greenery

Florals aren’t specific to spring weddings. Though the temperatures are cooler, there are still ways to incorporate stunning floral arrangements into your big day. Photographer and Junebug member Nikk Nguyen Photo says “to create that feeling of holiday magic as you walk down the aisle, select seasonal foliage that makes the Christmas bouquet of your dreams. Add reds, whites, holly, berries, and pine cones to spice up your arrangement.”

Using seasonal flowers—like roses, gardenias, and poinsettias—mixed with pine cones or red berries can make for stunning, wintery centerpieces. Nikk Nguyen Photo advises that couples “try adding springs of evergreen for a festive take on your ceremony programs, place cards, and other wedding stationery. You can attach them with ribbon for an extra flair of elegance. You can also opt for garlands or seasonal wreaths to decorate your venue. Your wedding will be smelling fresh and festive after you add a little green!”

Table Decor And Centerpieces

Whether you’re dreaming of floral centerpieces or thrifted table decor, select features that embrace the colors, flowers, and themes associated with the colder months. There are no rules when it comes to centerpieces—get creative by using candles, florals, and even pinecones.

Drape Your Venue In Twinkle Lights

Nikk Nguyen Photo—photographer and Junebug member—thinks there are many holiday features that add that extra sparkle to your day and make the memory of your wedding that much more memorable. One of those elements is twinkle lights. “Instead of dressing your venue in artificial snow, substitute twinkle lights for a hassle-free winter wonderland. Don’t be afraid to string up lights around your reception area and ceremony location for an enchanting holiday wedding.”

Lean Into Festive Fashion

Winter couples have so much to look forward to when it comes to their chilly celebration. There’s something about winter fashion that makes getting married in the cold weather totally romantic. From patterns to colors, and even material—there are many fashion-forward options that scream holiday season

With cooler temps, you’ll be looking for ways to warm up your chilly holiday wedding. If you’re still in search of the perfect wedding dress, try opting for a glamorous long-sleeve gown

For couples who’ve decided to have a wedding party, consider festive colors and materials—like velvet—for your wedding day crew

Junebug Tip:

Need an extra layer of warmth? There’s no better—or more functional—winter wedding accessory than a custom denim jacket or hand-painted leather jacket

Image by Jonnie + Garrett. See more of this inspiration shoot here.

Non-Traditional Sweet Treats

If you’re hosting a winter wonderland wedding, use the chilly temps as an excuse to get creative with your dessert options. Consider trading a traditional tiered wedding cake for some seasonal treats. A crowd favorite—perfect for chilly winter weddings—is a smores bar.

Consider setting up a grab-and-go hot chocolate station. It’s a fun way to keep your guests warm and in the holiday spirit.

Signature Holiday Cocktails

Let’s be honest, the reception bar is always one of the most popular elements of a wedding reception. From the presentation to the drinks served—this is another chance to get creative and personalize your celebration

Spice up your reception bar by creating signature holiday-themed cocktails and menus. We recommend getting in touch with your bartenders during the planning process for help in crafting up a holiday-infused cocktail you and your guests will love.

Have A Snowy Grand Exit

If the holiday season hasn’t gifted you with snowy weather on your wedding day, take matters into your own hands. Trade the famous sparkler exit for an artificially snowy confetti shower.

Festive Wedding Favors

The festivities can continue long beyond your wedding. If you and your partner are looking to show your appreciation to your guests, give wintery wedding favors—like ornaments, cozy blankets, or festive candles—as a keepsake and a thank you.

Cozy decor, delicious treats, and festive fashion—there’s so much to look forward to when it comes to a holiday wedding celebration. If you’re still unsure about hosting a winter wedding,  check out these cozy weddings for inspiration to add a bit of warmth, magic, and sparkle to your big day.

The Best Wedding Budget Tips from Top Wedding Planners Around the World

October 30, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

When it comes to planning your wedding, we know there’s always one thing that’s top-of-mind: budget. There are probably a million questions running through your mind when it comes to this topic. How much should we expect to pay? What areas can we save on costs? What services should we invest in? Luckily, you came to the right place for advice! Aside from the obvious advice to hire a planner who can help you map out the perfect budget for your needs, our Junebug top planners from around the world have provided their best wedding budget tips just for you!

Determine What’s Most Important

“Sit down and determine what is most important to you as a couple. Put more of your budget into what screams “you” and then it’ll feel better cutting back on other areas. Are you musicians? Focus your money there! Love being in the outdoors together? Allocate more towards a venue that embraces that!”

Bri Childs, Desert Child Events – Bay Area, California

Simplify The Wedding Party

“Many of our couples recently have been skipping the wedding party. Instead, they’ve told their besties to wear a dress in a certain color family.  So no bridesmaids dresses or matching shoes needed, but you can still snag that cute photo with your friends! This has further benefits for budget, in not needing to fit wedding party gifts, groomsmen boutonnieres, bridesmaids hair and makeup, and bouquets into the budget. Bonus: Your friends will thank you when they can sit comfortably through the ceremony.”

Meghan Cox, Mil Besos – Costa Rica

Utilize Your Own Personal Treasures

“To our design team, bringing out nuances of the couples’ spirit is always our jam. Often I ask clients to look around their home and “shop.” Think of ways to incorporate decor elements and accents pieces you already own. Do you have Restoration Hardware wooden tooled candlesticks on your mantel? Grab those for me! Or Anthropologie baskets, vases or throws? Then pack them up and bring them!  As planners and designers we can incorporate what you already have. We can populate a welcome table with your wood trays from your home coffee table and we’ll use those trays to wrangle your Fugi Instamatic cameras. We can use one of your large West Elm vases as your gift card receptacle. You World Market wood frame makes great bar sign, your kilim throw pillows become accents to rented lounge furniture. Your grandmothers vintage china set?  Let’s use these for your dessert grazing table.”

Leave Some Room In Your Budget

“It’s essential to allocate an extra 5 to 10 percent of your money for surprise expenses like printing extra invites because of guest list changes, additional dress steaming, tailoring needs, umbrellas for a rainy day, and other last minute items.”

One Fine Day Events – New Zealand

Stick to Local Cuisine

If you choose to have destination wedding, go for local food. If you want French cuisine in Ecuador, the catering will cost you two to three times the cost of an amazing fusion or local cuisine made by a renowned local chef. You can also decide on having brunch or a local food buffet; this is another way of saving money by not having a plated reception. It will surely depend on the atmosphere you want on your wedding day.

Track Every Purchase

“First and foremost, be honest about your budget, having a realistic grasp on your budget will allow you to align with what you can afford. It’s easy to “break the bank” by not tracking the little things, like earrings, groom’s socks, new perfume or shoes. It’s these items people often forget to track and they wonder why they are running out of money.”

Misty Damico, Luxe Event Productions – Portland, Oregon

Handmade and Heartfelt God’s Mountain Estate Wedding

October 10, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Steph and Rob’s God’s Mountain Estate estate wedding has us feeling like we’ve stepped into a Mediterranean villa surrounded by the most gorgeous waterfront views! Photographer duo Nomad by NK did a phenomenal job capturing the essence of this handmade and heartfelt day. The bride and groom DIY’d almost everything for their day including their bohemian teepee ceremony arch, dreamcatchers, and handwritten calligraphy signage! We also can’t get over how stunning the entire wedding party looked, with Steph wearing a low-back Made with Love Bridal dress, Rob and his men in Indochino, and the ‘maids dressed in adorable, boho Mura Boutique Australia maxi dresses. DIY bride babes, get your Pinterest boards ready, because this God’s Mountain Estate wedding day has it all and more!

The Couple:

Steph & Rob

The Wedding:

God’s Mountain Estate, Okanagan, British Columbia

Our photographers were wonderful! They did such a great job at capturing those candid moments throughout the day, while working together to get the right shot. We also felt so at ease working with them since I have known Natalie for years!

We are lake people, so it was important that found a venue that was on, or overlooking the water. We chose our wedding venue because it was so naturally stunning and we didn’t need to add many elements to it in order to make it look or feel beautiful and magical.

I liked the low back of my gown the most, and I absolutely loved my halo headpiece. It gave me the little pop of “something extra” that I wanted, while remaining understated.

SHOP THIS LOOK:

We did a lot of DIY for our wedding since I am very artistic and Rob is very handy! Our welcome sign, all wedding signage, seating plan, table numbers and name tags were all DIY, including my handwritten calligraphy. Our teepee, dreamcatcher and even our signature cocktails were also all DIY.

Much of our wedding vibe was based on our Mediterranean inspired venue, keeping the overall feel to be laidback, airy and fun, which most represents us as a couple. Our decorative style was rustic and romantic with a touch of boho. We created this look using DIY decor and signage with handwritten calligraphy, while keeping everything minimal with soft hues in order to highlight the natural beauty of our venue. Boho elements included our teepee arbor and hanging dreamcatchers at our head table.

This Fall Nashville Wedding at Home Shows Off Our New Favorite Autumn Wedding Colors: Burgundy and Navy

August 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

It’s almost that time of year again when the crisp air refreshes our spirits and autumn wedding colors are in full bloom! And, lucky for us, we’ve got a taste of that autumnal goodness with Chelsae and Ryan’s at-home wedding in Nashville! This creative couple wanted nothing more than to create a cozy atmosphere with a distinctly elegant look and, most importantly, filled with wildly romantic florals. With the help W Social Events and their floral designer from Basil & Bergamot, they got just that! The backyard ceremony and tented reception were as intimate as could be, and the dramatic lighting, floral installations, and ceremony arch were a chic sight to behold. Our hats off to Rachel Fugate Photography who managed to capture the indescribably magical feeling of Chelsae and Ryan’s special day!

The Couple:

Chelsae and Ryan

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Nashville, Tennessee

We chose my (the bride’s) parents’ home for our venue. For as long as I can remember, I’ve imagined myself walking out the front door in my dress and down the stairs to the alter. My parents live on a significant plot of land, so we had plenty of room to plan the day exactly how we wanted. The first year that Ryan saw the house in the middle of fall, he was convinced it was the perfect venue as well.

The florals and the photography/videography were most important to us from the start of our wedding planning. We wanted to have timeless images that genuinely depicted our relationship and our day that we could cherish forever! The flowers were also important to us because, as the bride, I felt as though the arrangements would give our venue the romantic, woodsy style that I was looking for. Our photographer and videographer were the first vendors we chose when we got engaged, and our florals took up the biggest portion of our budget by far!

The most special parts of the day were the few moments we had alone with Rachel (our photographer) during our solo shoot. We were so giddy and excited from the ceremony that we were able to let loose and feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, and the pictures show it! It was the best feeling being finally married and having the rest of the night to look forward to as husband and wife.

I would advise every bride not to get caught up in the little details. Of course, we want our day to be perfect and exactly as we’ve imagined. However, I let myself get so stressed over small pieces that didn’t come together during the planning, and when the day actually came, I never even noticed them. What mattered the most to us was that we had our loved ones close and that everyone had as good a time as we did. All the other details fell into place!

Every Detail of This Organic Wedding at Emily Moon River Lodge was Lovingly Crafted and Sourced from Around the World

June 10, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Ashleigh and Emmanuel’s special day at Emily Moon River Lodge was essentially a master class in creating DIY wedding magic! After changing their plan to marry in Morocco, the couple found this incredible venue in South Africa and immediately fell in love with the details, the energy, and the beauty that surrounded it. Then they hand-crafted and curated every single element, from the dried flowers to the feathers to the coconut welcome drinks, ensuring that their love of sunset palettes, their bohemian vibes, and their organic way of life were reflected in every inch of their celebration. Ashleigh even made her own wedding dress — and, spoiler alert, it was flawless! Literally, no detail was left unattended, and Page & Holmes Photography could not have captured it all more brilliantly.

The Couple:

Ashleigh and Emmanuel

The Wedding:

Emily Moon River Lodge, Plettenberg Bay, South Africa

From the start of our wedding planning journey, Emmanuel and I made a promise to one another to be true to who we are. We did not want to be consumed or influenced by all of the magical wedding inspiration that is out there. Instead, we chose to create an aesthetic that represented each of us and the adventures we had been on. We wanted our day to cradle the people that we love by allowing them to be surrounded by colors, elements, and textures that defined each of us.

The one factor that we constantly reminded each other along the way was that this day we were planning and creating was about each of us, our families, and our dearest friends. It was that selfish honestly that lead to our day being complete with all the comforts we needed to be at ease, filled with pure love and joy.

Emmanuel‘s best friend, one of his “brothers” who he grew up beside, was the officiant for our ceremony. We filled him with all of our trust and love and allowed him to capture our relationship and lives as he viewed them. It was nothing short of perfect! He was such an important part of setting the tone and mood for our day and we would not have changed a thing.

While guests were arriving and taking their seats, we had requested anyone who wished to smudge the space with White Sage. Our ceremony then began with a meditation, lead by Tal, Emmanuel‘s brother who is a yoga instructor and mentor. He ensured we were all present, with our hearts open and our souls cleansed to begin our ever after. It was the most beautiful moment — time stood still and the energy flooded our souls.

We had been wanting to get married in Morocco for some time but, when the logistics began to get too complex, we starting looking into South Africa. We had visited Emily Moon with friends who live in Plettenberg Bay some months back and had fallen in love with it and the reminders of time we had spent in Bali. When we began our research, we came across the Love Story behind the lodge and the love letter that ended with “My dearest Emily, I have found paradise…” Our hearts were ignited by the love that already existed in this special place. So, we booked our wedding date and months after went to spend a night in the lodge to have a deeper and more purposeful look around. Between the finishings, the decor, and the energy we knew there was no other place that we could forever hold dearly in our hearts!

The inspiration behind our theme was honestly organic. We are inspired by nature every day and, more so, idolize the sunset – so using the tones and hues from the setting sun was our main inspiration. The colors we choose spoke to both of us; they ignited our souls and set free our creativity.

Our entire day was DIY and it was so meaningful and special. Emmanuel and I traveled from Australia to South Africa with suitcases of flowers we had been drying for months prior as well as feathers we had been collecting for all the decor. The list does go on of what was DIY, we poured love into every last detail of our day, and if it wasn’t us personally it was our friends, family, and vendors that helped. Everyone we loved was creatively involved in every way they could be, including friends and family who were staying at the venue who helped set up on the day.

Making my dress was a heartfelt process! As we added to the wedding theme and aesthetics, the dress became more and more of a clear vision and, of course, the process changed serval times along the way. My abilities and limitations were as inspiring as they were hindering. There were so many moments where I had doubted my decision but then there were moments were I was motivated and ignited by it. What I loved most about my dress was how honestly “me” it was. How it was made to fit me and only me, and how it was made out of the inspiration of our wedding itself. My accessories were made and bought around the colors and theme rather than the dress, so they complimented our overall style which made me fell apart of the day, rather than stand out of it.

The most important part of the styling was that each member of our bridal party, as well as Emmanuel and I, were dressed in a way that portrayed our personalities — that we were honest to our own sense of style and, most importantly, comfortable. Truth be told, the bridesmaids’ dresses came first. I had collected them from various stores and places over the course of a year. Then the groomsmen attire followed shortly by Emmanuel‘s suit, which we found at ZARA. Then I came across the fabric that I knew I had to make my wedding dress from. Our style was, of course, very bohemian, inspired by being wild and free!

Walking into the reception is a feeling that will live with us forever. Writing this now, I still get goosebumps! The energy that our guests brought and shared with us in that short minute was incomparable. They ignited our souls and showered us in love. It was very intimate and the space we walked through allowed us to look in everyone’s eyes, hear their cheers, and feel their blessings. It was like riding a magic carpet from the entrance to our table! The most beautiful moment at the end of that walk was seeing our parents, eyes flooding with joy. I am sure every couple feels this way, but our wedding day was perfect, in every way! We honestly would not have changed a thing, which makes every minute memorable.

Our best advice is to take your time and breathe in every moment of the planning journey. Your day goes by in a heartbeat yet there are moments where time stands still. In those moments so many small things remind you of your planning, your energy and the love you have poured into your wedding. Your vision truly does come to life and its soul moving. Turn elements of the planning into date nights, pick a topic and discuss it over a meal or glass of wine. Make notes of everything you discuss so that you can surprise each other with small things along the way.

One moment we hold dear, our MOH celebrated her birthday at midnight and we surprised her with giant sparklers and a birthday cake, followed by an immense celebration on the dance floor to her favorite song. She is a woman that there is always a reason to celebrate! Our wonderful best man-officiant-MC, then asked the photographers to do a long exposure shot of her using sparklers to spell out her name – it will be a memory we hold very close to our hearts.

Cozy and Lush Netherlands Wedding at Domaine D’Heerstaayen

May 19, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

After deciding to host their wedding in their new home of Amsterdam, Kate and Alex chose the wildly charming Domaine D’Heerstaayen to create a cozy outdoor dinner party with their loved ones! Over the Moon Weddings helped the couple bring a relaxed, easy vibe to the old-world venue, using muted colors, minimal modern decor, and simple florals to add a touch of color and a feeling of home. Kate and Alex also gave us a tour of the city in their portraits with Angela Bloemsaat – Love Story Photography, from snuggling on the bridge to meandering down cobblestone streets. This wedding was the perfect blend of European city chic and countryside charm, and we just can’t get enough!

The Couple:

Kate and Alex

The Wedding:

Domaine D’Heerstaayen, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Just after getting engaged, Kate moved from Colorado to Amsterdam and Alex followed fairly soon after. What we missed dearly was sitting around the table with old friends and family, sharing good food and wine. It was important to us that our wedding had that feel – cozy, intimate, and relaxed.

For a time we waffled between a wedding in Colorado or in the Netherlands. It was hard to beat a mountain backdrop, but Domaine D’Heerstaayen is truly something special. It makes you feel instantly at home, especially with the fire going. I think Marijke is still confused about how two Americans ended up at her doorstep, but we are so glad we did!

Our ceremony was a stand-out of the day, as were the chickens that interrupted it — very vocally at that! Kate‘s talented author/editor aunt officiated our ceremony and wrote the whole thing from scratch, perfectly capturing our ten years together and the years to come. We also had our friends and family write 13-word love stories (inspired by the New York Times Modern Love piece), which were read aloud. They wrote things like: “Nice eyes. A warm smile. And the missing clues to her crossword puzzle” and “Measuring love in one’s willingness to take the dog out in shit weather.” For us, it was just the right blend of love and humor!

Our processional was “Amsterdam” by Gregory Alan Isakov and the Colorado Symphony, which has long been a favorite and felt especially appropriate given the move to the Netherlands. Our recessional was “I Found You” by Alabama Shakes. Our first dance was amongst our friends and family to whatever happened to play first. The ceremony was attention enough for us!

We had small welcome bags for our guests, featuring Dutch treats (stroopwafels, gin & tonic, chocolates), a map of our favorite spots in Amsterdam, and some coffee from Alex‘s coffee company to ease the jet lag. Pro tip: Don’t buy stroopwafels and gin too far in advance. Otherwise, you’ll inevitably dip into them before your guests arrive.

The Vintage Vibes in This Mill at Yellow River Wedding Managed to Be Effortlessly Modern

May 5, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

When it comes to vintage charm, Brynn and Andrew’s Mill at Yellow River wedding takes the cake! Blush & Bashful Events helped give the couple’s love of vintage a modern twist that looked absolutely gorgeous inside the rustic-chic venue. JL Designs created floral arrangments in a mix of vibrant and warm oranges that added a touch of autumnal elegance to the entire look. We’re whole-heartedly obsessed with every detail of this wedding, especially the bride’s off-the-shoulder Theia Couture gown and handmade veil! From first look to the sparkler exit, photographer Katelyn Ortego truly captured the magic of this Georgia wedding!

The Couple:

Brynn and Andrew

The Wedding:

Mill at Yellow River, Porterdale, Georgia

Staying true to ourselves was the most important during planning! We didn’t want to do something just because it’s a thing people do! we wanted everything to be authentic, meaningful, and a celebration.

The most memorable part of our day was our first look before the ceremony! Spending time together alone was so special and magical we can’t imagine it any other way.

Our advice is to start planning early because the details can really start to pile up quickly. We only had 6 months to plan our wedding, and we really didn’t start until 2 months in…oops! Also, remind yourself that the little things like silverware don’t really matter. You will forget about it the next day when you’re on your honeymoon!

On the big day, let go of all planning stress, go with the natural flow, and enjoy every moment! (By that point, it’s out of your control anyway.) I dreamed of an outside ceremony and on the morning of I found out we had to have the ceremony inside because of the mud. I just went with it and it was still the most special day of our lives!

Lastly, do not be afraid to cut your guest list if you’re thinking about it. Small weddings are intimate and fun! We only had 115 guests and there were still a lot of people we didn’t get to say hi to.

I DIY-ed my veil! It was so much fun and it cost me $2 at JOANN! With Wendy has a great veil tutorial on youtube. I sewed it to a hair comb with tiny pleats and rounded the bottom half of the veil so that it was flowy when I walked and didn’t bunch together. I also DIY-ed a huge menu sign and welcome sign with wood from Home Depot. It was an easy way to make big statements!

Get Inspired by the Spanish Influence on this Casa Cody Wedding in Palm Springs

April 26, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Lauren and Steven’s beautiful Casa Cody wedding was full of sunshine, tacos, and dancing…is there anything better?! Kelsey Rae Designs helped the couple bring a New York vibe to the California desert and made it all feel effortlessly chic. Love Her Madly took cues from the Spanish-style venue to create floral arrangements in neutral tones with moody pops of color that added elegance without taking anything away from the inherent charm. To round out the day, the couple served tacos, classic deli staples, ice cream sandwiches, and custom cocktails in a tiny mobile bar, all of which spoke to the couple’s fun-loving (and food-loving!) nature. Photographers Joe+Kathrina captured every moment of this wedding beautifully, especially the couple’s post-ceremony portraits in the windmill-studded desert!

The Couple:

Lauren and Steven

The Wedding:

Casa Cody, Palm Springs, California

We chose Palm Springs because Lauren‘s family used to vacation there as when she was a kid and because we knew that it would offer such a unique California experience. And finding Casa Cody was love at first sight! We visited a handful of other venues but nothing else compared. It is just a gorgeous, unique, historical property. We wanted to feel like we were hanging out in a backyard full of the people closest to us. We were meticulous in our style choices and wanted to accentuate rather than upstage the natural charm of Palm Springs.

After we said “I do,” we went out into the middle of the desert with our photographers to shoot with the windmills. It was intimate, quiet, and we were really able to embrace each other in the moment before returning to party with our guests at the reception.

We hired Joe+Kathrina after going out for cocktails in NYC. They happened to be on vacation and we immediately knew they were the perfect fit! They were the easiest people to be around, and we honestly feel like we will be friends forever. They also shot our welcome pool party for friends the day before the wedding. Even our friends and family could not say enough good things about them!

Rustic New Jersey Garden Wedding at Crossed Keys Estate

April 13, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

When it comes to rustic chic design, Kelsey and Dan’s wedding at Crossed Keys Estate had it in spades! The couple had their ceremony in the estate’s garden, which provided the most beautiful backdrop for Pat Furey Photo to captured every romantic moment. With wooden signage, florals galore, laser cut decor from the ceremony to the sweetheart table, and the prettiest gold accents, Event Designs by Katherine took rustic chic to a whole new level…and we’re obsessed! We also can’t get enough of the bride’s Tara Lauren gown and flower hairpiece that perfectly matched the decor. From beginning to end, this New Jersey estate wedding was the definition of summer bliss, and every detail was flawless!

The Couple:

Kelsey and Dan

The Wedding:

Crossed Keys Estate, Andover, New Jersey

Dan and I wanted to plan a wedding that was unique and memorable for our guests while also staying true to us and who we are as a couple. We incorporated a lot of personal and meaningful details throughout the day, like having both of our parents’ wedding photos at the ceremony and naming our signature drink after our dog (we called it the “Mila Mule”!). We also had my grandfather’s vintage car (Excalibur) parked at the entrance for all of our guests to see as they drove in – this was super sentimental for me as my grandfather passed away last year. Overall, we really wanted our guests to have a fun experience with lots of food, dancing, and love all around!

For us, two moments from the day really stand out as being unforgettable. The first was during the ceremony recessional as Dan and I walked back down the aisle hand in hand. It was a feeling I will never forget and sort of a “sigh of relief” that all of the planning and hard work we put into this wedding led up to this, and now we can just relax and have fun at our reception! Also, seeing every single person we love and adore in one spot, celebrating the fact that we just said “I do” literally brought tears to my eyes.

The second most memorable moment was when our videographer pulled us outside during the reception to take some aerial footage of us with his drone. It was the first time all day that Dan and I had a moment with just the two of us, and for a minute we just stood outside the reception tent and watched everyone dancing and having fun and just thought to ourselves, “Wow, this is our wedding!”

Dan and I both love nature and the outdoors and knew that we didn’t want to be indoors and have our guests be limited to staying in one large room. Crossed Keys Estate was the first venue we looked at and we instantly fell in love! This outdoor venue is so breathtakingly beautiful – there are gorgeous flowers and landscaping everywhere you look, and the ceremony backdrop is a super unique, historic building that is just crawling with character and surrounded by greenery and wildflowers. We knew that we didn’t need to dress up our wedding with a ton of decorations because the venue itself did most of the work for us! We also loved the fact that Crossed Keys is a family owned and operated venue. The Rodriguez family was an absolute joy to work with and made the entire planning process fun and easy for us!
