Colorful Le Manoir de la Foulquetière Wedding

January 16, 2023 | justine

Le Manoir de la Foulquetière wedding

One day was just not enough time to celebrate the love of Ben and Sarah. Instead, they chose to host a memorable four-day wedding in the French countryside away from home. Set in a breathtaking 15th-century Chateau, they used wild floral arrangements, a romantic color palette, and cottage chic decor to transform the  Manoir de la Foulquetière into a  charming venue space. And not only that, they pulled off this stunning celebration without a planner too!

Surrounded by the countryside woodlands, the couple tied the knot in the estate garden. With rustic wooden chairs and benches, a flower-filled aisle, and an overgrown arch—their love was infused into every detail incorporated into their ceremony setting. For the reception that followed, guests were greeted with tablescapes filled with wild blooms and foraged greenery. It started as a cozy and relaxed dinner, but as soon as the band started playing, it kicked off the fun after-party. It was the perfect end to their big day as they danced the night away.

If you love the idea of a lovely countryside wedding, then this wedding is for you. And The French Wedding Photographer beautifully captured the emotion and beauty of their big day. Scroll through to see more and score unique ideas for your own celebration.

A Destination Just a Drive Away

We knew we wanted a French venue and one that was possible for our guests to drive to from the UK. We found Manoir de la Foulquetière on the French Wedding Venues website and instantly loved the rustic style of the building and the stunning grounds. Once we found our ideal place, we planned everything else around it. Being able to host our guests over four days was fantastic and allowed everyone to relax. It wouldn’t have been possible to achieve this in the UK for the exact costs.

How They Pulled Off Their Manoir de la Foulquetière Wedding

We’re proud that we managed to plan everything in a different country and that it all came together. We were fortunate enough that our venue had English-speaking owners and that several of our wedding party spoke fluent French on the day. This helped us a lot with both the long and short-term planning and the liaising with vendors. Without this, we would have found planning a destination wedding more challenging.

DIY Wedding Decor And Favors For This Le Manoir de la Foulquetière wedding

We made several aspects of the wedding decor ourselves and brought them from the UK. And the DIY decor absolutely made our Le Manoir de la Foulquetière wedding. We created the seating plan, favor boxes, photo station, and children’s gift boxes. For inspiration, we used Pinterest and other bridal websites.

Macarons As A Sweet Thank You Gesture For Their Guests

As we were in France, we gave our guests macarons at our Le Manoir de la Foulquetière wedding. We liaised with the venue to find a local patisserie and picked them up in the morning so they were fresh.

If you’re planning an intimate elopement and are looking for celebration alternatives to a traditional reception, consider a romantic elopement picnic. They are the perfect way to celebrate and toast to the promises you made to each other without too much fuss or planning needed.

A soft blanket, a few candles, your favorite assortment of foods, and a bottle of champagne are really all you need–although, you can always go more elaborate if that’s your style. These elopement picnic ideas take us from the mountaintops to the riverbanks, showing us all that a picnic is a dreamy way to celebrate saying “I do!”

Elopement and Picnic Wedding Tips

What to Pack

A picnic can be as elaborate or as simple as you want. If you can’t get the idea of an elaborate, over-the-top picnic out of your head, you may want to consider hiring a wedding coordinator. This way you can focus on tying the knot while they set up your picture-worthy meal.

In terms of food, think about your favorite meals. If you and your new lifelong partner have a serious sweet tooth, opt for just a dessert table. If you want something lighter to snack on, enjoy a charcuterie board with meats and cheeses. Along with the food, you’ll want to pack things like:

  • Drinks–including plenty of water
  • Blankets
  • Poofs/pillows
  • Cooler with an ice pack
  • Picnic basket (for photos)
  • Plates, cups, cutlery, napkins, serve ware
  • Corkscrew/bottle opener
  • Wet wipes
  • Trash bags

Tips and Tricks

We love getting insight from our Junebug members who are always in the thick of wedding planning. We asked them for tips and tricks to planning the perfect picnic and these were some of our favorites:

  1. “Depending on your location, have a plan B in mind. Scouting out a beautiful park with a pavilion to keep in your back pocket can be a great idea in case the weather turns south.” –Emily Skye Photography
  2. “Embrace eclecticism. Mix and match rugs, blankets, cushions, and furniture but choose pieces that still contribute to the overall vibe of the day. Creating a mood board can be a great way to help you stay inspired and on track!” –J. Olson Weddings
  3. “Having vendors that provide food, cake, drinks, and florals can really help bring an overall theme together. However, there are lots of DIY projects that are cost-effective and fun to put together.” –Shelby Liz Co.
  4. “Play with food textures and natural textures. Unfinished woods, fabrics with textures, and unique flowers add for a natural complimenting style.” –Haute Wedding

Junebug Tip:

Check out options from In Good Taste wine to have a few different varietals available for your picnic! Each bottle holds two pours—or one very full glass—so you can create your own wine pairings without having to split an entire bottle between yourselves.

Edgy And Romantic Fermenting Cellar Wedding

January 16, 2023 | justine

Caleigh and Jeff always wanted their big day to be full of character and whimsy. And with the help of their trusted vendor team, they pulled off their dream celebration. With a rustic industrial venue, a moody color palette, chic decor, and gorgeous flowers, their Fermenting Cellar wedding was decked out with edgy details and over-the-top romance.

Using black bentwood chairs, candles and blooms to line the aisle, and an overgrown arch to soften the distressed ceremony space, they had a beautiful and dreamy setting for their vow exchange. For the reception, crystal chandeliers and overhead cascading blooms created an enchanting feel, while the neon sign served as the focal point. The tables were luxe and dramatic, featuring lush centerpieces and dark taper candles in glass hurricanes.

Going For An Edgy And Romantic Vibe For Their Fermenting Cellar Wedding

Jeff and I were very much on the same page when it came to the feeling of our wedding. We wanted an indoor fall wedding, and the Fermenting Cellar fit our moody vibe perfectly. It was the only venue we went to visit. We wanted it to feel enchanting and unique, while embodying our love for edgier aesthetics. The overall theme we wanted was “moody and romantic,” with lots of darker elements, including the flowers, candles, and plates. The flowers were out of this world. But most importantly, everyone constantly told us how much love you could feel in the room.
