Boho And Quintessential New Orleans Wedding

August 25, 2022 | justine

With a shared passion for all things that embody NOLA—Creole cuisine, distinctive music, and the Mardi Gras culture—Jenessa and Jake knew that tying the knot in the “Big Easy”  was the right choice. So with the help of their planner Alexis Nelson, the pair brought to life an intimate and quintessential New Orleans wedding filled with character, bohemian touches, and a festive vibe. And it was a total blast!

This couple started with a beautiful courtyard ceremony at The Pharmacy Museum. Bamboo chairs and a stunning arch with lush blooms and feathery accents perfectly complemented the tropical jungle aesthetic. After tying the knot, they took the celebration to the streets with the famous second-line parade. In a fun turn of events, the street brass band escorted them to the reception at St. Ann Cottage—another romantic courtyard venue featuring antique decor and a stone fountain. And in true New Orleans fashion, they danced the night away while enjoying bananas foster under glimmering fairy lights

Their big day revolved around sharing the vibrant, magical, and eclectic experience this world-renowned city has to offer. Scroll through and feel the energy of Jennesa and Jake’s New Orleans wedding through these spectacular photos by Junebug member Yana B. This is one epic big day you don’t want to miss.

They Treated Their Guests To A Fun And Memorable New Orleans Wedding

Great music, food, and surprises made it a wonderful experience to share with friends and family. We weren’t going to invite everyone to a destination wedding and bore them, and we think we accomplished showing everyone a good time. Every moment was truly a dream. Sharing our vows while looking over the city and St. Louis Cathedral was magical, but the second-line parade was such an incredible celebratory moment. At our reception, our bridal party had a special toast for the bride’s late mother, and we had a special drink at the bar in her honor. That was truly such a special moment for us. We loved watching everyone light up at our little surprises of songs and the bananas foster station.

Festive Mardi Gras Themed Wedding Favors

We had mardi gras beads and second line hankies that one of our bridesmaids made on our ceremony chairs for our guests, so they felt festive in our second-line parade. We also had koozies for the cocktail portion of the second line.

August 23, 2022 | riley

Signature cocktails tend to get overlooked in the wedding planning process. So, we’re here to remind you why they should be near the top of your list when deciding on your reception menu. You know we’re all about showing your personality throughout your wedding day, and having signature cocktails is a fun (and delicious) way to do that. If you’re tying the know in the autumn and you’re not sure what signature cocktails to serve, you’re in luck. We’re rounding up some of our favorites with flavor profiles that scream fall–think pumpkin, cranberry, and apple cider!

5 Fall Signature Cocktails

Ginger Apple Moscow Mule

Almost everyone loves a good Moscow mule, and this ginger apple variation takes it to the next level of coziness. Because this is such a versatile cocktail, it could truly work at any kind of fall wedding.

Smoky Harvest Apple Cider Margarita

Hosting your own fiesta? Or maybe you’re just a big fan of mezcal or tequila. Either way, this smoky harvest apple cider margarita is an autumnal spin on a classic cocktail. Use mezcal for a smokier flavor or opt for tequila to make it a little sweeter.

Fall Aperol Spritz

Just because you’re having a destination wedding in Italy doesn’t mean that you can’t have fall-inspired signature cocktails. An Aperol Spritz is a classic, but the addition of the Chambord and ginger beer in this recipe gives it a sweet and (subtle) spicy flavor that you don’t traditionally find.

Classic Hot Toddy

If you’re getting married later in the season or exchanging vows outdoors and you expect it to be a bit chilly, a hot toddy is the perfect way to warm you and your guests up. It’s an extremely easy cocktail to make, and it’s lighter, making it easier to sip on.

Pumpkin Spice White Russian

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without at least one pumpkin spice cocktail. Because this white Russian is a little sweeter, it would make a perfect after-dinner dessert cocktail that you surprise your guests with.

Junebug Tip:

If you’re opting for colorful linens, consider a transparent acrylic place card that you can place on top of the linens. This will allow you to see more of the color rather than hide it. Luckily, acrylic place cards come in a wide variety of shapes–from rectangular to hexagons to arched.
