Beautifully Blue Kalami Beach Wedding

April 27, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

One look at this Kalami beach wedding and you’ll want to fly to Greece for a destination wedding. Alexandros and Angela wanted a wedding where they could celebrate their love, and have it feel like a chic getaway for their guests. And to celebrate exchanging their vows, this couple flew in guests from 17 different countries—truly surrounded by loved ones!

With the help from wedding planner Golden Apple Weddings, their beach space was completely transformed into something out of a magazine. With gauze blue linen tablecloths mixed with the reed canopy bar, strung lights, and tropical plants, this beach wedding is truly Pinterest goals! If the grand chandelier in the Evangelismos Church wasn’t stunning enough, then the bold blue color palette, sunset reception, and marbled desserts definitely take the cake—yes, pun intended!

And if the decor wasn’t enough to have you pinning this destination wedding, then the wedding fashion will. Alexandros sported a bold blue suit and floral tie and Angela looked so beautiful in her chiffon and lace bridal gown. If you’re ready for an island getaway, then let these dazzling photos by Stelios Kalisperis take you there.

A Global Guest List

We were proud to bring together so many different people from different cultures and countries. In total, we had guests fly in from 17 different countries! By the official wedding day, we were all one big happy family. The guests got to know each other over the course of the wedding weekend through different planned events. These events included: boat day, a day we all sailed the Aegean sea together, cocktail night, a night in old town Rhodes, and tour day—a day we chartered our guests through a guided tour of the island. We were very proud and relieved that the entire weekend went smoothly!

A Memorable Kalami Beach Wedding

For both of us, the most memorable part of the day was entering the reception. We had been dreaming of unwinding and dancing with our loved ones for over a year. The excitement we felt entering our wedding reception was palpable. It was everything we had expected and more!

Hire Wedding Planners

Our first piece of advice is to hire wedding planners—they are worth their weight in gold. They help your vision come to life within your budget, and have the expertise and knowledge when it comes to choosing great vendors. They take the heavy weight off your shoulders during the planning process.

Evil Eye Wedding Favors

Our main idea was to offer a traditional Greek gift—the evil eye! The Evil Eye is a symbol of luck. The eye deflects misfortune and bad luck, It helps to keep balance in your life and protects against bad karma. It’s something that many people associate with Greece. For our favor, we decided to choose a more modern design. We chose a beautiful handmade ceramic eye with special patterns around it. It was placed on the dinner tables and guests received their gifts on their seats. It now hangs in many of our friend’s homes around the world!

Try Not To Stress

Our second piece of advice is when you’re feeling bogged down in details and stressed, remember the real purpose of your wedding. It’s simply a large celebration with your closest friends and family to celebrate a union of love. Not everything will go perfectly, things will happen that are out of your control, and most of the time your guests will not notice. So try not to stress and take everything in stride.

Woodland Hills Sunset Backyard Wedding

April 26, 2021 | kailey

Backyard weddings have become increasingly popular in 2021—a trend we don’t see going away anytime soon. Emily and Abdo’s Woodland Hills sunset backyard wedding proves you don’t need an over-the-top or expensive wedding venue in order to pull off your dream celebration. With the help of planner Bone Soiree Productions, their backyard was fully transformed into a breathtaking wedding space complete with candles, draped twinkle light, and a band that turned their reception into a fun-filled party.

Photographer Lauren Belknap did a great job capturing images packed with memories—fully immersing us in Emily and Abdo’s sunset backyard wedding. This is what photographer Lauren Belknap had to say about this unforgettable celebration:

This event was the epitome of, “love is never canceled.” Emily and Abdo had a large wedding planned to celebrate with all their family and friends. But when COVID regulations continued into the winter months of 2020, the two realized that getting married in an intimate backyard wedding with loved ones was important to them.

This wedding is a gorgeous example of practicing COVID guidelines while also celebrating love! The bride’s wedding gown is from Marchesa and the style of classic, romantic, and stunning was impeccable throughout the night. The tent created an intimate scene, candles enhanced the atmosphere, and the band created a lively mood.

Enjoy The Planning Process

I would challenge every couple to really think about what is the most important part of the wedding. COVID forced us to give up the idea of a giant party at a big venue. It was initially difficult to accept this, but it ultimately made us realize that it didn’t matter where, when, or how we got married. We just wanted to be married, and for the most important people in our lives to be there. The wedding is just one day of your life, your marriage is forever! Enjoy the process as much as you can, be kind to yourself and others, and just remember what this whole process is supposed to be about: you and your person committing to each other forever. Everything else will fall into place.

Most Memorable Sunset Backyard Wedding Moments

The most memorable part of the day was exchanging our vows in front of our closest family and friends. It felt incredible to be surrounded by so much love, during such an awful time in the world, and vowing our commitments of love to each other. I also loved the moments we had after our ceremony—just us—eating appetizers between photos while our guests enjoyed cocktails in the front yard while listening to live music—everything from classic jazz hits to Kanye West.

Meaningful Handmade Wedding Favors

My mom made each guest an embroidered monogrammed blanket. Our wedding was fully outdoors, so it allowed guests to stay cozy when it got cold, and was something unique they could keep and use to remember our wedding.

Dazzling Traditional Outdoor Wedding Fused With Unique Details

April 26, 2021 | kailey

This dazzling traditional outdoor wedding proves that traditional doesn’t mean sacrificing unique, personalized, and unforgettable details. Diana and Tom, with the help of their wedding planner Avavi Bali Weddings, designed their dream wedding with intentionality in mind—every detail having a powerful purpose. With good food, entertainment, and jaw-dropping water-front views you can’t go wrong. Not to mention the fun-filled party that ended the night and kicked this couple’s marriage off with a bang. Literally and metaphorically—with fireworks lighting up the sky and the smiles on the guests faces, many of whom had traveled from all over the world

Photographer Terralogical did an incredible job snapping memories that will last long beyond Diana and Tom’s wedding day.

More From The Event Planner On Bringing To Life This Dazzling Wedding

The Bride, Diana, who loves details and design was fully involved in planning her big day and made sure every detail had special meaning! Together with her wedding planner Elisabeth from Avavi Bali Weddings and the wedding decorator Diane & Catharina from Bali Event Styling they brought it all to reality.

Before the actual wedding ceremony, the bride and groom participated in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with their parents and family held at the villa located in the resort. The tea ceremony highlighted the importance and meaning of family. The actual meaning behind serving tea is to honor honoring God, grandparents, and their parents.

Prioritize Meaningful Wedding Elements

Prioritize the aspects that matter to you the most. Though you want to plan a perfect wedding, don’t fret over every tiny detail or else you’ll find yourselves overwhelmed. Find three aspects that matter to you and your partner the most and spend the most time and energy on those.

A Traditional Outdoor Wedding Turned Party

A lot of our guests mentioned that our wedding was one of the most fun ones that they’ve been to—we were really happy to hear that! Our guests flew in from different parts of the world to be here, and we wanted to make sure they had a good time. Our good friends and emcees were charming and hilarious—keeping the mood lighthearted and chill. We made sure our program was smooth and well-organized so that all guests were well taken care of. At our reception, we played wedding games that involved the guests and ensured that there was plenty of alcohol for everyone (very important!).

Meaningful Wedding Party Favors

We wanted to give out wedding favors that were also meaningful to the guests – we made customized photo frames with our initials on them. At our reception, we had a polaroid station, where guests took photos and inserted them into the frame.

Ending The Night With A Fully-Clothed Swim

We surprised our guests by ending our First Dance with fireworks and the song Despacito, which really got the crowd going—the perfect way to kick off the after-party! At that point, the pressure to ensure everything went smoothly was over. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves with our friends and family, who flew in from different parts of the world just for us. Everyone was dancing, drinking, having a good time. People even started jumping into the pool for the after-after party. The rest was all a fun blur.
