Surprisingly Glam Courthouse Wedding

September 15, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

Having a glam courthouse wedding is no easy feat, but Logan and Eddie did it beautifully. They didn’t want to wait any longer to get married—not even the rain could stop their love. To make their love story official, they decided on having a civil ceremony now and a huge party later.

Thanks to event planner Honey + Thyme Events, they made the most of their courthouse wedding by incorporating wedding traditions, unique personal touches, and gorgeous wedding day fashion. Logan wore a puffy-sleeved mini dress with pearls, low heels, and a simple pink rose bouquet while Eddie wore a tan suit with brown loafers. Scroll down to see more of this gorgeously glam courthouse wedding captured by Jessi Lancaster.

Logan and Eddie

The Wedding:

Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Charlotte, North Carolina

Why A Glam Courthouse Wedding?

We chose the courthouse because we knew we wanted a location that represented Charlotte, our new home, and the place Eddie proposed. It didn’t hurt that our courthouse has beautiful architectural details and colors that perfectly tied into my overall vision for our wedding day celebration next year. We would go on walks around the city and I would always admire the columns and quotes etched into the building—it was a perfect fit.

The Groom’s Most Memorable Moment

The rain was pretty memorable in a good way. It made everything reflective and cool. It also meant we had to stay close to each other under the umbrella, which I loved.

Most Memorable Part for the Bride

The most memorable part of the day was running out of the courthouse full of adrenaline and feeling so elated and even silly! We danced and ran around while Jessi captured the perfect memories. I remember letting out a big laugh and exclaiming “babe, did we just get married!?”

Not Following Their Original Plan

I’m proud that I trusted my gut even though this wasn’t our original plan. And that we stayed true to ourselves and kept it just us two. With it being just Eddie and me, I was able to be in the moment with him completely the whole day.

Advice From The Bride

Embrace the traditions you love and throw out any you don’t care about or that don’t suit you. And although it can be difficult, avoid focusing on trends and focus on the details of your relationship instead! Also, hire a wedding planner.

7. Velvet Tablecloth

Who says that your centerpieces have to be the most dramatic part of your tablescapes? Velvet tablecloths immediately make your reception tables feel expensive and sophisticated.

8. Velvet Table Runner

If you’re going for a long rectangular table rather than individual round tables, a velvet table runner may be the better choice for you. If you are eloping and planning on having a small picnic afterward, this is also a great option for your dessert table.

Gorgeous Salt Flats Elopement Inspiration Shoot

September 15, 2021 | riley

If there is one thing that 2020 taught us, it’s that elopements are far from boring–especially when they take place in an epic location like this Salt Flats elopement inspiration shoot. Junebug member and photographer Heather Anderson Photography knew that she wanted to create something ethereal in one of the most unique destinations in the world and to say she was successful would be an understatement.

The Salt Flats acted as the perfect blank canvas for these faux “I do’s.” With 300,000 acres of salt-crusted Earth–beautifully lit by the sunset–the affair was as magical as it was otherworldly. And when paired with the stunning boho wedding gowns from Raw + Golden Rentals and the bouquets from Tuesday Floral Co. that beautifully complement one another, we can’t help but swoon.

If you’re looking for a sign to downsize your special day and trade it for an adventurous elopement, look no further because this one’s chalked full with inspiration!

Heather Anderson On The Inspiration For The Shoot

This shoot was inspired by my desire to create something magical at the Salt Flats. I’ve been wanting to shoot something very ethereal at this location for some time.  I also knew I wanted models that were a real couple and had a story of triumph. Their gowns and bouquets also needed to be different in style yet complementary, as many relationships are.  We wanted the evening to feel intimate yet playful to show couples that they can elope somewhere unique like the Salt Flats and you don’t need to fuss too much with rentals, props, and accessories–you just need love and maybe a little wedding cake!

The Real-Life Couple’s Love Story

Aimee and I met almost six years ago on an app–classic! When we first met, I felt so comfortable talking to her. She has this way of making people feel so calm when they are around her. Aimee always said that she knew she was going to marry me on our first date and I just thought she was way too good for me. But it worked out. We have been through so much together. Coming out, leaving our religion, new jobs, buying a home, truly just growing into ourselves and identifying who we are individually on top of who we are as a couple. We are both so proud of how far we have come and how much we have grown through our relationship.
