We are simply smitten with every little detail of Ash and Tim’s quirky and floral-filled wedding at Evanslea! If you love flowers of all kinds, you’re going to swoon over these botanical-print bridesmaids dresses, matching groomsmen bow ties, and the actual floral masterpieces Sydney Flower Markets created for this stunning day. Tim’s guys were not only dressed to impress, but also provided the ceremony music, which made for some awesome photos by Fox & Kin. Hint: Make sure to scroll and see Ash and Tim’s creative “just married” photos. If you’re into minimalist fashion and Spring-inspired design, this sweet Australian wedding day is for you!
We ‘DIY’d’ our own music for the ceremony – with the groomsmen all being musicians.
Our photographer, Nic, from Fox & Kin is amazingly talented, quirky, funny and professional!
The most memorable part of our day was the speeches made by our nearest and dearest — groomsmen, matron of honour, dads, mother of the groom. They were all very entertaining and very personal, and it was incredible to have everyone share a few laughs together.
If there ever was a good year to get married — 2020 is the one! We’re kicking off a new decade, after all. According to our insider scoop, couples tying the knot this year are ahead of the game and planning their special days with zest. We’ve also been chatting with industry pros who are preparing to influence the 2020 wedding design aesthetic with fresh, never-before-seen ideas! Needless to say, we’re pretty stoked.
With so many 2020 wedding trends to obsesses over this year, these are the ones we’re most excited about seeing come to life in unique ways:
We’ve felt this one coming for awhile now, but at the end of 2019 it was clear no-waste wedding initiatives were top-of-mind for couples and planners alike. In the new year, we expect to see a surge in sustainable materials like natural wood, un-dyed yarns, recycled textiles, compostable dinnerware, more plants than flowers, and re-useable everything!
Strong geometric forms are taking center stage this year — and not in a subtle way! We’re ecstatic to see colorblocking making a comeback in wedding decor, invitations, ceremony backdrops, and more. This isn’t your mother’s colorblocking, though. Expect to see this done with class and fun interpretations of natural, earthy and jewel toned colors.
Western-inspired fashion is in — and we’re here for it. Whether you’re adding a subtle touch of mid-west flair or going all out west, this trend will not disappoint! Pro tip: Ask your guests to add a western touch to their outfits to have them join in on the themed fun.

Please, give us all the animal print accessories! Pro tip: Throwing on a bold jacket, headpiece, or pair of boots is the easiest way to change up your bridal look in a way that will totally pop in photos. We’re excited to see all different faux animal prints—from cheetah to tiger or snake.
Looking for a way to bring out your fun, glamorous side? The festival-inspired glitter trend is your excuse! We can’t wait to see how 2020 brides will sparkle up their look with festival glitter. If you’re nervous to commit to this for your entire day, consider having a glitter bar at your reception. That way, the guests can get in on the fun, too!
You’re probably used to seeing white at weddings, but this year it won’t just be reserved for the bride and background elements. Off-whites, earthy grays, tactile beiges will have a major moment this year. With a neutral color palette that gives off all the authentic vibes, and we’re loving how this trend can so effortlessly be merged with the other “2020 trends to obsess” over.
Did anyone catch a glimpse Hilary Duff’s killer wedding style? She was the essence of ’80s wedding fashion reimagined for this decade. We can’t wait to see how our real brides will rock puff sleeves, bold headpieces, shoulder pads, fishnet hose, tulle, floral suits, and more!
We hope this post has got you feeling just as excited as we are for the new decade! For more 2020 wedding trends and helpful planning posts, check out:
Kejina and Jeremy wanted to create a wedding that felt like a dinner party they would have at home—a day that “felt like us”—so they chose Five Brock for it’s open-concept, loft design. Fun fact: The venue is right around the corner from where the couple shared their first date! We’re loving how Kejina DIY’d most of the decor, including the invitations, menus, table numbers, and seating chart. If you’re into fashion, you’re sure to love this couple’s modern, trendy style, with Kejina in a sleek Catherine Deane gown and Jeremy looking dapper in a white suit jacket and black pants from Suit Supply. We can’t wait for you to get inspired by these incredible photos by Nikki Mills!
The most important thing was that we planned our wedding to feel like “us”. It was really important to have our wedding be an intimate gathering that felt like a dinner party we would host at home. We live in a different city from most of our friends and family and don’t get to have dinner parties with them often, so we really wanted the wedding to feel like that. We also wanted it to really represent us and our family unit, and have Jeremy‘s daughters be a part of the day.
Wedding planning advice from the bride and groom: Everyone has an opinion about what your wedding should be like. Just stick to what’s important to you as a couple and focus on the things that honor your relationship. There are thousands of ideas of what you can do, just focus on those things that add impact that your guests will remember and appreciate.
We wanted an open concept loft style venue that would allow us to have our ceremony and reception in the same place. The venue we chose ended up being right around the corner from our first date!
We chose our vibe to reflect who we are normally – modern and trendy, but not over the top. The overall feel was minimal chic, everything was simple but the elements that were designed were thought out very intentionally. I DIY’d our invites, menus, table numbers and seating chart. I love the look of clear table numbers, so I bought clear frames and used a Cricut to create the vinyl numbers. We also had personalized menus for each guest that reflected their meal choices.
