Terracotta and Pampas Grass South African Wedding at Bordeaux Game Farm

November 11, 2019 | brooke

Sonette and De Vries wedding at Bordeaux Game Farm has us feeling inspired with a new wedding trend we are calling “sophisticated safari!” Floral designer A Seed To Sow created the most magnificent table arrangements with pampas grass and muted color florals that look absolutely perfect paired with modern rentals from Bish Bash Boosh. Sonette looked stunning in a warm ivory sequined gown by Vagabond Bridal — and her groom didn’t disappoint either, dressed in a classic black and white suit from Bride & Co. If you’ve been dreaming of a wedding with hints of terracotta and lots of earthy details, you’ll love every photo Lora Photography beautifully captured at Bordeaux Game Farm!

The Couple:

Sonette & De Vries

The Wedding:

Bordeaux Game Farm, South Africa

My mission was to look effortless and not like a traditional bride. I also decided not wear a veil. My dress was a warm Ivory color, full of Shimmer sequins. It also had a luxurious, soft velvet base that created a chic and flattering silhouette and a striking train. I loved the fact that my dress was comfortable and not heavy at all.

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Most important is to enjoy every bit of planning, as you only plan your dream day once! Secondly, organization is key! You have so many balls up in the air at once, you’ll need to keep track of everything so buy a wedding planning book or set up a wedding planning spreadsheet. Also, my advice to any bride is to invest in a great photographer and videographer! They are the most important vendors on the day-of. They capture every moment and it tells a story, not any story but a story of your special day. It is the only memory you have left of your big day.

We both have a tremendous love for nature and wild life. We were looking for a venue that describes us best. Bordeaux Game Farm is just so authentic, atmosphere-filled with a lot African adventures and safari.

We had an engagement shoot with our photographers before the wedding and we just clicked instantly. We then became very close friends. It is so important to get along with your photographers as you will be spending the whole day with them.

There are no words to describe Bordeaux Game Farm’s amazing venue and staff. We all were completely blown away by the natural beauty of the venue, the food, the staff and the accommodation. They pulled off the most magical day! Bordeaux is an absolute gem and wish we could have it all over again.

Like every bride, I wanted something different. My mission was to stay away from greenery and do pampas grass instead. The theme was earthy meets simplicity and elegance.
