We are absolutely, positively blown away be Corina and Tyler’s insanely gorgeous Fiji elopement! There truly aren’t enough adjectives in the English language to describe the beauty of this day, but we’ll try to fit in as many as we can. After the couple found Kama Catch Me—the photographers, event planners, and floral designers for this day—on Instagram, the rest was history. The execution of every detail has us obsessed! If free-spirited vibes are your thing, you’re going to love the dried floral ceremony arch, Corina’s boho Willowby dress, and the fact that the duo toasted tequila shots post-ceremony. With all these elements and even more to see, we just know you’re going to be inspired by this breathtaking elopement!

The most important thing to us was finding a talented photographer. Photos last a lot longer than flowers and I definitely believe that everyone should splurge on their photos.

We chose to get married in Fiji for one reason, our photographer! We found Kama Catch Me through Instagram and the rest was pretty much smooth sailing thanks to them. Rob & Faith made us feel so incredibly comfortable. Having your photos taken by strangers is very nerve wracking, but we felt like we were around friends.

We got experience such an incredible view of the sunset. Watching it with my newly husband was the cherry on top of the most amazing day.

Rustic Boho Portugal Wedding at Forte da Cruz

February 24, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

With all the greenery and boho details, we’re obsessed with Katerina and Michael’s take on a rustic Portugal wedding at Forte Da Cruz! We love how Katerina transformed her Olvis wedding dress into a maternity dress with the help of a&be Bridal Shop. Pro tip: Ask your bridal shop all the questions—they were able to advise this bride on a dress without a zipper, which was perfect for her adorable baby bump! Aside from the fabulous boho chic style, we’re loving all the little details that added a rustic touch to the elegance of Forte Da Cruz. We’re feeling thankful the talented Mémorelle was there to capture it all!

The Couple:

Katerina & Michael

The Wedding:

Forte Da Cruz, Lisbon, Portugal

What I loved about my wedding dress was that I was able to make it maternal! The pregnancy came as a surprise half way through planning my wedding. I went into total freak out mode and had to get an entire new dress. Just because I was pregnant, I still wanted to feel sexy and beautiful. I’m so thankful for a&be Bridal Shop in Seattle. They came to my rescue while I was freaking out in the dressing room having to guess what size I would be at 29 weeks. The week before I went in they had gotten dresses by the designer Olvis. These dresses have no zipper and are known for their elegance and comfort. I tried one on and FELL IN LOVE. I loved it more than my original dress. We ordered two sizes up, and I met basically weekly with my seamstress one month before the wedding and were able to do minor hemming and alterations to the dress. It was absolutely perfect and I am in love with how everything turned out. And last but not least…my shoes. Nothing, not even pregnancy, was going to stop be from wearing Louboutins on my wedding day!

Walking up the castle and into the venue and walking down the isle seeing the sun about to set and then right as we read our vows, the sun was BEAMING at us. It had rained ALL day. The rain was literally going horizontal at one point it was that windy and that bad. Then like 30 minutes before the wedding as I’m in the car the sun started to come out of the cloud and the clouds started break away. But what made this day the most memorable was the sun during our vows. It was so breathtaking and couldn’t have been better timing for it to begin setting.

I really wanted to embody the cities romance and elegance but yet keep it somewhat boho and rustic. The style I went for as if you took a step back in time and we’re walking through the garden of a Portuguese house. I stuck with dark greens and white flowers everywhere and wanted it to look like it grew right there in the venue. The candle everywhere brought that Portuguese 14th century vibes but having the venue on the water kept it boho and somewhat modern. I knew I had to show up in a vintage car to really make the romantic Portuguese dream a reality. It felt like I took a step back in time.

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Pick three things you must have and work around those. Whether it’s the venue, food, your dress, or even floral arrangements…pick three things. That way, if finances get tight, you know you got the three things you wanted most and the rest is just a bonus!

I knew I wanted to get married in Portugal and if I’m going to have friends and family fly across the country to a destination wedding, I wanted the venue to feel like a true destination. I had toured countless places in Lisbon and Cascais from hotels to gardens to beach venues. But this venue, Forte da Cruz, was unlike anything I had EVER seen. It’s natural beauty of being a 17th century fortress was something you could only get from a fairytale and that’s why I picked it. I wanted a romantic Portuguese wedding vibe and it was on the beach! It embodied everything I wanted. Beach vibes and Portuguese romance vibes. The best part was we had the whole fortress to ourselves so everyone felt like true royalty when roaming around throughout the evening between. Inside and outside.

This Calamigos Ranch Wedding Positively Glows with Fairy Lights

February 23, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

As soon as Jareena and Christopher stepped foot on the grounds of this magical Malibu venue, they knew a Calamigos Ranch wedding was the day they’d been dreaming about! We’re positively obsessed with the fairy lights and whimsical vibes this couple’s day is giving off. If you’re one to fall for fun details, you are going to love the couple’s Polaroid table, Shutter Bus Co, and name plate marble coasters they gave to their guests as favors! Pro tip: Choose decor that can double as favors for your guests — less waste, and they’ll love taking something home. Lauren Mihae nailed every single photo of this dreamy day, and we can’t wait for you to see them!

The Couple:

Jareena and Christopher

The Wedding:

Calamigos Ranch, Malibu, California

I wanted to find a way to make Chris feel his mom’s presence, so I had custom cufflinks made that had a tiny photo of Chris and his mom and an inscription saying , “Always with you <3”. I gave it to him as a surprise after we did the first look.

Maroon is one of my (Jareena‘s) favorite colors. I wanted a gradient from Maroon to dusty pink, but I wanted to give my bridesmaids flexibility. I know how hard it can be to find the perfect dress, so I didn’t mind what color and style of dresses they chose. I just wanted them to be happy and find something that at least blended well. I told them to choose and coordinate amongst themselves.

We were captivated by the venue from the moment we stepped foot on its property. It was like walking into an enchanted forest. We wanted our guests to experience the same magical feeling we experience every day in our relationship and we knew the trees with the hanging lights and the steady breeze would encapsulate that. To fit this notion, we went with a mix of whimsical and boho. We wanted to accentuate and play up the style by adding more natural elements–greenery and wood–while staying unique and adding touches that had ‘us’ written all over it.

We planned our wedding fairly quickly given our circumstance, my mother-in-law was ill. She passed a month before our wedding and it was heartbreaking and traumatizing. We had sped up everything so she could make it to our wedding. We were worried this might happen, the chances were high as we saw her start to grow more ill. Chris and I had very open dialogue about what we’d do if it did happen, and I think it’s important to talk about these things. We entertained the thought of potentially canceling the wedding, but ultimately made the decision that being surrounded by family and loved ones during our hardest time is good for us. We felt so supported and loved throughout the wedding and it was even more special knowing she was there watching us. Hardships like these and how you work through it makes you stronger as a couple.

My photographer (Lauren Mihae) was easily a highlight of the wedding day. She was so fun and easy to work with. From the beginning, it felt easy. It was like a long lost friend, coming to help with the wedding and making us feel comfortable, yet on top of the world. She made us laugh, she encouraged us and made us feel at ease. It was great working with her and I only wish I had more reasons to work with her.

We had a boba bar from my favorite tea shop with all of my favorite drinks and a caricature photo of us on the boba cups. We used Polaroid photos of us in locations we’ve been as indicators of where to sit, alongside custom marble coasters, which were placed at each individual seat. We had a paper airplane making station for suggestions on where we should travel to and these were used as send offs in place of sparklers or balloons.

We customized marble coasters with people’s names. We wanted a practical gift that people would like and use. It was a huge success.
