Creative Urban Wedding Inspiration At The Asylum

September 11, 2021 | kailey

Remember, with talented wedding vendors by your side no dream wedding is out of reach. Which is why Junebug member Igor Demba Photography created a wedding that emphasized the power of florals, decor, and fashion. Proving with the help of talented industry pros, the addition of these elements can turn any space into a dreamy wedding venue—even a rundown, historic chapel.

The Asylum—complete with stained glass windows and exposed brick—was the perfect blank slate for this urban wedding inspiration. To preserve the venue’s existing charm the vendor team decided that using a neutral color palette was the way to go. A neutral vow rug, candles, and earth-toned floral arrangements by Emma Cox Floristry made for a stunningly cohesive “I do” space.

Maybe you’re looking for epic wedding day fashion inspiration. Maybe you’re in search of ways to transform an ordinary space into your dream venue. Whatever it may be, this London ceremony is the perfect starting place to pull inspiration from. So, get your Pinterest boards ready and start scrolling to see more.

Photographers Thoughts On This Urban Wedding Inspiration

This styled shoot was a labor of love. It was dreamt up for my upcoming online editing course—The Great Edit—and I truly wanted to create something special for it. The key was to bring together a strong team of creatives, give them strong visual concepts and inspirational mood boards. Then giving them the space to be themselves, bring their own ideas, allow creativity to flourish, and encourage a spirit of collaboration. The team was incredible and the shoot is a celebration of their artistry.

Edgy Las Vegas Elopement With A Pink Cadillac And Tattoos

September 10, 2021 | riley

While eloping in Vegas used to be tied to the idea of drunken nights that you wouldn’t remember, more couples are choosing to tie the knot in Sin City in some of the coolest elopements ever. After Nicolette and Ralph’s destination wedding was postponed twice, the lifelong friends said “I do” in a pink convertible in the Tunnel of Love at the iconic Little White Wedding Chapel.

After their casual ceremony, the newlyweds headed to The Neon Museum for wedding portraits among the iconic retired neon signs. And not only was the setting incredibly cool, but so was the wedding fashion. Nicolette looked feminine and edgy in her short Nookie dress while Ralph looked sharp in his pin-stripe Suit It Up Manila suit–the duo looked perfect for the setting.

From the laidback vows to the industrial portraits to the tattoo session that ended the night–that’s right, Nicolette got a tattoo to celebrate becoming a Mrs–photographer Jamie Y Photography did an incredible job of capturing this seriously epic elopement.

Fun and Flirty Bridal Fashion

Since we decided to get married in Vegas I immediately started looking for a mini dress. I was lucky enough to find one with a big, beautiful bow. I always wanted to wear the Jimmy Choo Sacora’s regardless of where I was getting married, so the fashion worked out great. I wanted to be flirty but still classy.

The Bride’s View On Their Love Story

Ralph and I met in the summer of 1998 in Manila, Philippines. I grew up in a small province in Leyte and he grew up in California. We saw each other sporadically for three years until my family migrated to New Jersey. Seven-ish years later Ralph got a job offer in Chicago and decided to reach out to me on Facebook. It’s been 24 years in the making and 10 wonderfully crazy years together. We planned a beach wedding in Siargao but due to the pandemic we had to put our plans on hold. One night as I was doing my research I told Ralph I thought it’d be cool to elope in Vegas. Ralph is pretty traditional, so I thought he would shut it down immediately but, to my surprise, he was open to it. He wanted to see “pics” of what it looked like and actually loved the idea of doing a secret elopement.

Why An Edgy Las Vegas Elopement

We never thought we would ever get married in Las Vegas. I felt like a Vegas wedding was too cool for us. But after postponing our destination wedding twice due to the pandemic, I really wanted to elope in Vegas. Our advice for wedding planning is if you want something, you should go for it.

The Couple’s Favorite Photo

Fairytale Chateau Neercanne Wedding

September 8, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

One look at their wedding venue made Kristina and Gerwin fall in love—for good reason. Their Chateau Neercanne wedding was a real-life fairytale set at a gorgeous castle in the Netherlands.

Event planner Nikki de Lang Wedding & Events added simple yet elegant decor and used the castle’s grounds to create a unique ceremony seating arrangement. On top of that, floral designer Moon Daisy dressed up the space with elegant arrangements, including a floral drenched circular arch, using soft blushes, eucalyptus, and gold details.

To make the wedding even more special, Gerwin’s brothers, sisters, and dad recited a Dutch tradition in their Armstrong clan tartan. Get ready to see a fairytale wedding come to life with photos captured by Ik Trouw van Jou.

Something Old and Something Borrowed

For the “something borrowed”, one of my girls gave me a pin to borrow and then handed me “something old,” which was a bridal locket with my and my late grandmother’s picture in it! My grandmother was a mother figure to me. I was so touched by this, I couldn’t stop crying. So we pinned the locket to my bouquet so she was there. She blessed our day with sunshine and love.

Planning A Wedding During A Pandemic

We wanted a weekend wedding to accommodate everyone. Due to COVID-19, we needed to make it even smaller. So, we had to be strict with the guest lists—only direct family and closest friends. Ultimately, we were so happy with our 50 guests! The whole weekend gave us quality time with each other and we didn’t feel so rushed.

Created A New Wedding in 8 Weeks

Our original wedding venue burned down eight weeks prior to our wedding. We set this almost-brand-new wedding in those eight weeks! We wanted an entire weekend celebration, so we had to arrange new locations for everyone, change the invitations, and everything that goes along with changing venues. However, the details of the wedding were phenomenal— handwritten name cards, custom-made logos, and doorposts in our guests’ rooms.

Only Had Eyes For One Another

The ceremony was the most transcending moment of the wedding. We debated for so long on whether we were going to say our vows in front of everyone or not. We both felt so insecure, but we’re so happy we did. You could say we were in a bubble all day—we only had eyes for one another. Saying our vows to each other that day was so magical.

Advice From The Bride

Enjoy the wedding planning process, but also make a plan B and C. Spend the time to think about what is needed to have and nice to have and agree on that together. Finally, we built a few moments of alone time during the wedding and that was amazing. We used that time to just be alone together and take it all in.

Why A Chateau Neercanne Wedding?

We initially didn’t choose this venue. We had another venue in Belgium, which burned down eight weeks prior. We were so devastated but when we saw this location we just forgot about the other location. It was meant to be! Due to COVID-19 and a lot of cancellations, we were able to keep our wedding date too.
