Colorful Amalfi Coast Elopement Complete With Pizza and Prosecco

September 10, 2023 | justine

Rhiannon and Samantha chose a special way to celebrate their love. They didn’t focus too much on a formal wedding style, instead, what really mattered to them was showcasing how much fun they have together. They envisioned a day where they could have breakfast, get ready, and say their vows. Placing their complete trust in the experts, saying they did a fantastic job would be an understatement! Their colorful Amalfi Coast elopement came to life with a vibrant burst of palette, whimsical florals, and fabulous fashion.

The ceremony was set on the terrace overlooking the sea. Gorgeous blooms on pillars beautifully framed the couple and the seascape behind them as they said their sweet “I dos.” After tying the knot, a sweetheart table surrounded by colorful arrangements awaited them. They enjoyed a romantic walk through the streets, grabbed pizza, and popped a bottle of Prosecco at the pier. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day.

If you’ve always imagined an intimate celebration for two, with breathtaking views of the coast and a bit of unique charm, then this Amalfi Coast elopement is just the inspiration you need. Scroll down to discover all the swoon-worthy details beautifully captured by Mariah Treiber.

From Vision to Reality: a Carefree, Fun, and Colorful Amalfi Coast Elopement

With the help of the fantastic team at Finesse Eventi and day-of coordination by our photographer, Mariah Treiber, we achieved our fun, carefree day. We wanted the day to be about us in Amalfi, and it turned out just as we had hoped. There was no stress, only enjoyment. We envisioned an intimate day together—having breakfast, getting ready, and sharing our vows. Our focus wasn’t so much on an exact design style as it was on portraying the fun we shared.

Showcasing Their Authentic Selves Through Their Colorful Amalfi Coast Elopement Attire

We are so proud to have stayed true to what we wanted for our wedding. We’re thrilled with how everything came together, even though we had a tiny idea of how anything would look before the actual day. While we had a general color palette for the flowers, we had no clue about each other’s attire (both of us wrongly assumed the other would be in white). Yet, everything just happened to work so perfectly.

Handcrafted Vow Books Inspired by the Amalfi Coastline

Samantha hand-painted the vow books with a small image of the Amalfi coastline, highlighting some of the spots we planned to visit while on the coast. We also wore custom Vans shoes and jean jackets painted by friends from the ‘Burgh.

Having a Dream Team of Support to Help Them Craft a Day That Truly Represented Them

We’ve been truly fortunate to have a team we trusted wholeheartedly to ensure our day was perfect. We can’t sing their praises enough. Everyone who supported us during the planning process and on the day holds a special place in our hearts. Our advice is this: If specific plans don’t bring you joy, don’t hesitate to take a different path. Ensure that your special day reflects your unique essence, and don’t settle for anything less than what truly resonates with you.

Finishing Their Colorful Amalfi Coast Elopement Day Off With  Pizza, Gelato, and Prosecco

The most memorable part of our day was going into the city of Amalfi. We are lucky to have a photographer who is not only from our hometown but also brave enough to navigate the treacherous roads on the coast. Grabbing pizza and arancini together, we walked through the streets with gelato in hand, and shared Prosecco on the pier. We had a blast roaming the town, getting stunning photos, and making memories to last a lifetime.

Unique and Colorful Ninh Binh Destination Elopement

September 9, 2023 | justine

Savannah and Zach chose to do something special for their wedding day, stepping away from the usual. They wondered, why not start their married life with an exciting change? And with that in mind, they decided to plan a faraway celebration in Vietnam. Surrounded by stunning mountains and a peaceful natural landscape, their Ninh Binh destination elopement marked the beginning of their marriage and a three-week adventure. This decision let them fully enjoy the present, soaking in the beauty around them and cherishing every moment together.

Few can claim they arrived at their wedding ceremony by boat, but this couple certainly can. The experience felt unreal as they glided down a river, surrounded by nature, and then the sight of a vibrant floral arch came into focus. In this breathtaking river backdrop, they shared heartfelt vows. After capturing portraits amidst the captivating scenery, they returned to the resort for an intimate dinner and a romantic first dance. Altogether, the entire experience was undeniably magical.

While there’s more we could share, we’ll let these photos captured by Mirror Wedding do the storytelling. If you and your partner sense the beckoning of a tropical adventure, then this Ninh Binh destination elopement is for you.

Savannah and Zach

The Wedding:

Ninh Binh, Vietnam

How Their Ninh Binh Destination Elopement Day Unfolded

The theme of our wedding was an adventure. We spent three weeks in Vietnam and had the wedding ceremony the first week. We brought our suit and wedding dress in our luggage to make the ceremony as realistic as possible. Our amazing local wedding planner, Bayla, created a spectacular day. Ninh Binh is a quiet, natural city in the Red River Delta of Vietnam. After biking around the natural landscape during the day with our photographer and videographer and a dip in the pool, Bayla drove us to a hidden river, where we took a canoe ride to the wedding site. Bayla had worked with a florist to create a gorgeous arch covered in native flowers. We said our handwritten vows, kissed and took in the refreshing air. Then we returned to the resort for a romantic dinner and first dance. It was definitely an adventure.

A Surreal Boat Ride to Their Ceremony Location

The most memorable part of the day was the boat ride to the ceremony spot. We had a lot of fun biking around town and swimming in the pool throughout the day. It was fun finding hidden spots with our photographer and videographer as we navigated cows, taking a nap on the road. But the anticipation kicked in once we got into our suit and wedding dress and trekked to the location. The boat ride was surreal as we floated down a river deep in nature, and the spectacular floral arch came into view.

Treasured Moments: Reliving the Love Through Photos and Video

A picture is worth a thousand words. We are very thankful to have such high-quality photographs and videos from our elopement. We look back on them nearly weekly, and they always make us feel warm and in love. Our favorite photo is of us raising our hands in triumph after saying our vows. There are so many beautiful pictures from that day, but we really love that one because of the pure joy on our faces.

When Their Wedding Vendors Became A Part of Their Story

All three of our vendors did an incredible job. We spent most of the morning of our wedding day biking around the natural landscape, finding cool places to take pictures and videos. We developed a friendship with our vendors to the point it felt like they were guests at our private ceremony. We are so thankful for all of their help! It was remarkable seeing our vendors, who we became close with during the day, waiting for us to celebrate.

Wedding Planning Advice for a Truly Personal Wedding

Three pieces of advice for couples planning their wedding: First, do something authentically you. Second, hire a planner if you want something unique. Third, spend wisely on the photographer and videographer. We believe that a wedding should be about the couple. This doesn’t mean excluding your family if you want a larger ceremony, but you should never let anyone else tell you how to commemorate such an important moment in your life. Our elopement was authentically us, and we are so thankful we followed our hearts in doing something important to us.

How Their Wedding Planner Made Their Elopement Extra Special

Wedding planners can be worth their weight in gold! We did not use one for the smaller ceremony we had back in the United States to celebrate with friends and family, but investing in one during our elopement made the experience so much more special. They really nailed all the small details that would have been difficult for us to plan.

A Delightful Discovery: Lots of Vegan Options in Vietnam

We are vegan, so having something that meets our dietary restrictions was necessary. Luckily, the local cuisine in Vietnam is very accommodating. We had delicious spring rolls and noodle bowls for dinner and mango sticky rice for dessert.

Smart Wedding Budgeting Strategy: Starting with Priorities

Our wedding planning began by determining the total amount we were comfortable spending. From there, we carefully selected our three priorities: crafting a personal and unforgettable getaway, investing in photography and videography, and curating a delightful culinary experience. Simultaneously, we identified the less significant elements, allowing us to channel most of our budget toward the aspects that truly mattered.

This Unique Giraffe Shed Wedding Was Dripping With Florals

September 8, 2023 | justine

Right from the start, Stephanie and Bryn were determined to have a wedding that was uniquely theirs. They had one goal in mind, and that was to create a visual spectacle and to throw an incredible party. And they totally succeeded! From the standout florals and unique decor to the chic fashion and playful props—their Giraffe Shed wedding weekend turned into a magnificent festival-like experience.

When the pair explored venues, they immediately felt the shed was the perfect fit. It provided the perfect blank canvas to add their personal touch. For their ceremony, they filled the space from floor to ceiling with wildflowers and brush, transforming it into a scene that can only be described as a dreamy shrubland. Switching things up for the reception, they added a mix of an all-white tablescape with gold touches alongside long wooden tables and benches. They wined and dined in this whimsical setting. And to top it all off, they ended the festivities with a spectacular burst of confetti.

They infused every aspect with their own unique style and personal touch. And what’s even more impressive is that they went the extra mile to plan an eco-friendly celebration. If you’re looking for wedding inspiration and want to learn about how they made this one-of-a-kind special day happen, keep scrolling. Louise Griffin has beautifully captured every detail and more.

Giraffe Shed, Wales, United Kingdom

The Journey to a Giraffe Shed Wedding

Right from the start, we thought about having a destination wedding ceremony followed by a big party in the UK. However, we soon realized that we would also have to have a civil registry in the UK, which made the abroad wedding redundant. So, we chose a small family ceremony on day one and a big party for everyone on day two. We looked for places that could host an entire weekend. Since Bryn is from South Wales, we wanted to get married there. We loved that it was a blank canvas we could put our stamp on. The venue and its owners, Hannah and Neilo, completely matched our vibe and personality. Once we locked in The Giraffe Shed, the vision of what I wanted to do with the venue came naturally. We focused on good food, music, making guests happy, and my love for florals and decor. We got ideas from other couples and online. We wanted to make the place feel like being outside. Our goal was to give guests a unique experience, and that’s what guided all our choices.

Wedding Planning: Hire A Planner

Our main advice is to ensure that you remember what is most important to you regarding your wedding. There are no rules and no rights or wrongs. If your budget can stretch to it, hire a wedding planner. Planning a wedding is a full-time job and can be very stressful, particularly in the last few months. But if you cannot afford it, do not worry! It can be done, and we are proof of that. For me, I just needed to visualize and write everything down in as much detail as possible. I ended up with one document that dealt with all timings and styling. I then shared this document with all of my wedding vendors so that everybody was on the same page. We also, of course, had a spreadsheet which we updated regularly.

Making Eco-Conscious Choices Starting With Repurposed Florals

Our main eco decision for the weekend was repurposing the florals, particularly those from the aisle. We used the same florals throughout the weekend, changing the style as the room was turned around. Every bit of foliage and flower was visible for every part of the wedding. The moveable florals began as a curved aisle leading to the living wall and snaking under the hanging installation. They were then moved to sit inside the U-shaped table for our wedding breakfast. On day two, those florals were positioned all over the venue—around the welcome sign, at the bottom of the escort wall, at the ends of our tables, and in front of our top table. They really were the star of the show.

Creating A Seating Plan Wall Decor That Doubled As A Photo Backdrop Wall

We were extremely happy with how our seating plan wall turned out. Which we sourced, printed, and labeled ourselves. It was important that this felt personal, so we tried to use photos of us with each of our guests over the last eight years. Again, there was a further interactive element, as guests had to pull their pictures off the wall to see their table number. It meant they could keep their photos and clear the wall to be used as a backdrop for the photo booth on day two. The florals were the standout element of the weekend, but what our florist created here for this space was truly extraordinary.

DIY Elements That Reflected Their Personalities

We planned the wedding from start to finish, and we did incorporate lots of DIY elements. After making a wedding website through which we sent our invites, we used the theme and color palette throughout our wedding stationery. We designed all of the stationery that Bryns created using his technical skills. We also made our lawn games, including a “Put a ring on it” ring toss and corn hole. We made the cornhole boards with a Welsh leek on one and bamboo on the other to represent each of us in an unconventional way.

Incorporating The Bride’s Chinese Heritage Through Multi-Purpose Personalized Chopsticks

We married in beautiful Wales, but we’re proud of how we incorporated elements from our heritages and cultures. We did not intend to have wedding favors initially, as we didn’t want to spend money on something that may have been wasted. However, we also felt the same way about our place cards. In trying to come up with a sustainable but creative way to show guests where they sat, the idea for personalized chopsticks was born. This was an additional way to incorporate a nod to my Chinese heritage, and the ribbons worked wonders for a fun grand entrance on Saturday. Making this a much more eco-friendly aspect than something that would have ended up discarded.

Discovering Their Caterers at a Wedding Fair

We found our dream caterers at the only wedding fair we went to. They had a taster, and we instantly knew they were the caterers for us, mainly when they told us they could cater our whole weekend, changing up the styles to suit the different requirements and numbers. We had a six-course tasting menu on Friday that could rival a Michelin-starred restaurant. We knew we wanted to do something extra on this day with the seating, so we had our tables arranged in a U-shape facing our living wall and feature window, where we had a plating-up table to add a little bit of drama/theater to the proceedings.

Unexpected Hair Change on Day Two of their Giraffe Shed Wedding

The start of day two brought an unexpected twist as I chopped off my hair, surprising both my husband and our guests. Our initial day one plan included an intimate ceremony and wedding breakfast, but we also invited nearby guests for a get-together at The Giraffe Shed that evening. With a majority RSVPing positively, we transformed it into a celebratory affair, complete with cake and fizz. As a result, many of my guests saw me with longer hair on Friday night, shortly before the big transformation on Saturday.
