This Mid-Century Palm Springs Wedding at The Lautner Compound is Straight Out of the ’60s

August 18, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Rachel and Michael could not have chosen a more perfect backdrop for their mid-century modern than The Lautner Compound in Palm Springs! The retro vibes of the venue laid the framework for a stunning display of ’60s-inspired florals created by Walden Floral LA using a palette of dusty yellows, oranges, and taupe. Rachel and Michael also added their own personal touches with DIY-ed invitations and paper goods, modern signage, and table runners that gave their tablescapes a totally unique look. Their planner from After The Engagement pulled all the pretty details together for a loungy, mod vibe that was the epitome of California cool. We’re completely obsessed with every detail and are grateful The Hendrys captured every moment so vividly!

The Couple:

Rachel and Michael

The Wedding:

The Lautner Compound, Palm Springs, California

The two most important things to us in planning the wedding were that it was a beautiful space and that the event ran smoothly so our guests would be able to be comfortable and have a great time!

We personalized the ceremony with our choice of processional and recessional songs. We also opted out of any wedding party. It was just us! Additionally, we had our close friend Jon officiate. We did a few pre-wedding interviews with him and he wrote such a wonderful, touching and funny ceremony for us. Having a friend perform the ceremony definitely made the whole thing feel more personal and special to us.

Choose your vendors wisely and then trust them to do a wonderful job! We ended up getting so many special and unique touches by giving our talented vendors pretty open and loose direction and really trusting them and their experience.

We gave our guests a custom gold and black lapel pin of our cactus wedding graphic. Designed by Everett Pelayo our very good friend who designed all our wedding graphics for the invitations and event. It had R+M 05.11.19 engraved on the back. We wanted to give something that was fun and unique but not overly “wedding branded.” It was important to us that it be something that everyone could have and use in their everyday life that was memorable of the event but not specifically recognizable as something from a wedding.

The most memorable part of the day for us was the toasts after dinner. We opted to have only friends and siblings give toasts, 6 total. We asked everyone to participate a few weeks in advance so they could prepare and everyone wrote such wonderful speeches! They were funny and touching, there was even a poem. It made us feel so special.

This Waterfront Wedding Inspiration at Lake Crescent Lodge is Full of Foggy Minimalist Goodness

August 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

With a ceremony at the end of a pier, a reception setup at the water’s edge, and a little rain to create the most romantic vibe, this styled shoot at Lake Crescent Lodge designed by Carly Rae Weddings has put us in the mood for autumnal coziness! The minimalist-bohemian design was picture-perfect for the PNW setting, and the bride’s incredible champagne and gold Amanda James gown was unlike any bridal style we’ve seen. We’re totally in love with the non-traditional feel of this elopement inspiration, and Kristen Marie Parker nailed it in capturing every single element!

This Fall Nashville Wedding at Home Shows Off Our New Favorite Autumn Wedding Colors: Burgundy and Navy

August 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

It’s almost that time of year again when the crisp air refreshes our spirits and autumn wedding colors are in full bloom! And, lucky for us, we’ve got a taste of that autumnal goodness with Chelsae and Ryan’s at-home wedding in Nashville! This creative couple wanted nothing more than to create a cozy atmosphere with a distinctly elegant look and, most importantly, filled with wildly romantic florals. With the help W Social Events and their floral designer from Basil & Bergamot, they got just that! The backyard ceremony and tented reception were as intimate as could be, and the dramatic lighting, floral installations, and ceremony arch were a chic sight to behold. Our hats off to Rachel Fugate Photography who managed to capture the indescribably magical feeling of Chelsae and Ryan’s special day!

The Couple:

Chelsae and Ryan

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Nashville, Tennessee

We chose my (the bride’s) parents’ home for our venue. For as long as I can remember, I’ve imagined myself walking out the front door in my dress and down the stairs to the alter. My parents live on a significant plot of land, so we had plenty of room to plan the day exactly how we wanted. The first year that Ryan saw the house in the middle of fall, he was convinced it was the perfect venue as well.

The florals and the photography/videography were most important to us from the start of our wedding planning. We wanted to have timeless images that genuinely depicted our relationship and our day that we could cherish forever! The flowers were also important to us because, as the bride, I felt as though the arrangements would give our venue the romantic, woodsy style that I was looking for. Our photographer and videographer were the first vendors we chose when we got engaged, and our florals took up the biggest portion of our budget by far!

The most special parts of the day were the few moments we had alone with Rachel (our photographer) during our solo shoot. We were so giddy and excited from the ceremony that we were able to let loose and feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, and the pictures show it! It was the best feeling being finally married and having the rest of the night to look forward to as husband and wife.

I would advise every bride not to get caught up in the little details. Of course, we want our day to be perfect and exactly as we’ve imagined. However, I let myself get so stressed over small pieces that didn’t come together during the planning, and when the day actually came, I never even noticed them. What mattered the most to us was that we had our loved ones close and that everyone had as good a time as we did. All the other details fell into place!
