You’ll Love the Romantic Details in this Palm Springs Wedding at La Chureya

January 12, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Casey and Erik’s La Chureya wedding featured glamorous vintage-inspired décor, a thoughtful ceremony full of sentiment and soul, and an unforgettable dance party. The Spanish colonial venue featured cactus and palm fronds with a moody mountainous backdrop, perfect for a luxe and romantic wedding with a touch of whimsy. Floral designer Bloom Babes created a color palette with stunning arrangements in deep berry tones mixed with light pinks, blush, a metallic accents that contrasted perfectly with the lush green of the venue and warmth of the surrounding desert. This luxurious garden wedding created a timeless atmosphere with an overwhelming sense of charm and elegance – from the bride’s sleek and modern Alexandra Grecco wedding dress to abundant lounge areas from Adore Folklore. Photographer Andria Lindquist captured so many intimate moments, from a super romantic first look to the sparkler send off.

The Couple:

Casey and Erik

The Wedding:

La Chureya, Palm Springs, California

Together Erik and I wrote a little note at the bottom of the programs – we wanted a personal touch – and had them on the seats as to surprise my mom. We went with the traditional vows, which are so elegant and simple, but personalized them a little with a few sentimental tweaks. One of the most special parts of our ceremony was having a dear family friend marry us. He crafted the most beautiful message filled with Faith and God, and it was overflowing with love and emotion. It was perfect.

Erik and I share a deep love; for each other and our families. We wanted that sentiment and that soul to be evident through big and small ways. We wanted our ceremony to be thoughtful and spiritual andpowerful. But we also wanted to create a weekend that our guests would never forget – a dance party to remember. I think we were able to combine those two visions in the raddest way.

I’ll forever cherish our first look. Leading up to it, I was overwhelmed with emotions – I’d hear a song, read a card, anything could send me to instant crocodile tears. Once I saw Erik, all that went away, I was at peace. I was able to look at him, hold him, touch him, and know that we had this. I’ll never forget laughing with him during the speeches, dancing with him once we were able to let our hair down. Taking sunset photos. All the little moments that become still frames in your mind forever, during a day that goes by so fast. I’ll also forever cherish my first dance with my dad. It was magic; we stole the show.

They always say it, and they are right. There will be things, big and small, that come up throughout the wedding planning process that you could never foresee, and even if you did, you might never be able to prevent or have control over. Accept this fact of wedding planning life, and try to move on. Take in every single moment, but don’t take any one thing too seriously. There will be things you envision to go a certain way and they just won’t.

It was really hard for me to decide on a theme for our wedding; it’s simply all been done before. You don’t realize how much work it is to pull off such an event, especially one that looks good, because the blogs and magazines all make it look so easy, so typical. I approached our wedding like I approached my dress: timeless. I wanted to conjure an overwhelming sense of romance, elegance, charm, but also the unexpected and interesting. I wanted to bring Old Hollywood back to the Movie Colony, so the boys were wearing tuxes in the desert.

Throughout the year, I picked up a lot of vintage trinkets like vanity mirrors, decanters, glass boxes and cloches. My mom collected a bunch of gorgeous lanterns and we created a metallic theme. We grew the vision and started introducing vintage mirrors. I wanted to incorporate the mirrors as signage andsignature props.

Our wedding had every element of whimsical andinteresting that I had always dreamed of. Palm Springs isn’t a hideous backdrop to paint, either. The Spanish bones of our venue, the cactus and palm fronds, the moody mountains, the bou gain villea.

Our colors were a combination of metallics andeggplant and deep berry tones mixed with light blushes and pinks. I wanted something that would contrast the greenery of the garden venue and the warm desert.

All of our vendors were incredible, but I’d say without a doubt our photographer, videographers, andwedding planners were the backbone of our wedding. You really can’t mess around when it comes to picking your wedding photographer – its one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Andria was without a doubt one of the best decisions we made. She brought a fun factor, a calming cool, a sassy and awesome force that you need to guide the day. She made me feel like I was hanging out with a close girlfriend all day – one close enough to capture very intimate moments with the most incredible eye. The images she created were works of art, and there is no adjective in the dictionary that could describe how much I love them.

Colorful Vintage Florida Wedding at Bramble Tree Estate

January 12, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Emily and Brett’s Bramble Tree Estate wedding was simple and elegant, perfect for a venue surrounded by mossy oaks, rustic greenery, and open fields decked out with warm colors and unique touches that uniquely represented the couple. Peddles floral design created the bright and colorful arrangements of oranges, corals, and pink blooms in the stunning bridal bouquet, cedar ceremony cross, and vintage-inspired reception décor that accented the natural beauty of the estate. We love the vintage glass bottles that held flowers for the reception tables, given to the bride by her mentor that created a beautiful and simple elegance. Kartsie Photography captured this day perfectly, from the genuinely sweet bridesmaids first look to this couple’s creative way of keeping tradition with an alternative vow reading first touch instead of a first look.

The Couple:

Emily and Brett

The Wedding:

Bramble Tree Estate, Sorrento, Florida

I loved the idea of having a wedding that felt like it was uniquely our style and incorporated a little of this, and a little of that in it. I wanted it to feel like it captures us as a couple and represented who we are and what we care about.

Kartsie Photography fit our vibe perfectly. She was relaxed and playful, while totally professional andcaptured so many special moments. She helped us feel natural as we took our photos and managed to wrangle in all our family and extended family for some beautiful family photos with ease and grace!

Our colors were oranges, corals, yellows, with lots of greenery. I feel like bright expresses who I am, but then paired with the natural scenery around us andthe cream colored dresses of bridesmaids it wasn’t obnoxious or overpowering. We wanted to include lots of greenery since the venue itself had so much natural beauty to it and we felt like that just played it up even more!

It was a big desire that we find a place where we could both get married and have the reception outdoors, something we both love. We try to spend as much time outside as we can, so it was fitting that we get married outdoors too. Since Orlando isn’t anywhere near the mountains or woods, a more farm style place was perfect for us. We loved that Bramble Tree was naturally beautiful and all we had to do was put in a few pieces to accentuate what was already there in nature itself!

Saying our vows to each other was definitely a big and anticipated moment for us. We put a lot of time and thought into what our vows would communicate about what we desire for our marriage and pray it will be. We knew that saying these vows was a big decision and we wanted to keep Jesus’ name in the forefront; to tell each other that we will rely on Him for all we need in our marriage.

At the end of the day, remember it’s just that. One day. It’s a big and important day, but it’s only a teeny part of a bigger story and picture of your love and life with each other. Choose things that feel like “you” and represent your relationship well. Find ways in the midst of the busy planning season to continue to grow closer together. Lend a helping hand when your partner needs it, even if they don’t ask. Breathe. Laugh when you need to. Cry when you need to. Ask for help and forgiveness. Express gratitude. Know when to shrug it off and move on. Give yourself and your partner grace, even when it doesn’t feel deserved. And please, don’t forget to have a good time – it is your wedding (and marriage) after all!

A mentor of mine had recently been given about a hundred old vintage glass bottles and together, we went through them and found the perfect ones to put on the tables. I also collected brown bottle from people I knew for several months before the wedding. The flowers for the tables went in those bottles. My sister in law did the hand drawn calligraphy table numbers, as well as some of the signs around (like our Instagram sign, and the signs for sign in and cake table). She also designed andhand painted our wedding invites!

We wanted it to uniquely represent us! For me, that included bright colors and unique touches, things that represent joy and fun. I’m drawn to warm colors and find that they are playful and bring energy. My husband loves the outdoors and natural colors. As a couple, we are more casual and relaxed, but we love to play and enjoy ourselves! We wanted to leave lots of room for good food, conversation, fun and of course, dancing.

5 Tips for Planning Your Wedding in Six Months or Less

January 11, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Planning your wedding in six months or less might sound impossible, but we’re here to tell you that it can be done! We’ve seen our fair share of Junebug couples opt for short engagements, and we’re always blown away by how they manage to create beautiful and unique celebrations in a short amount of time. So, we put together our top tips and resources to help you plan the wedding of your dreams in less than a year. These will get in the right mindset, help set your priorities, and have you crossing off your to-do list in no time!

1. Be decisive.

With such a short timeline, you won’t have the luxury of scouring the depths of Pinterest or changing direction with every new wedding inspiration you find. It’s best to start planning with a clear big-picture vision of your wedding day, which is why we highly recommend making a wedding mood board before you do anything else. You immediately narrow your focus, which will be a huge time-saver in the long run. To save even more time and reduce stress, intentionally limit your options. Don’t try to choose between 50 different floral design options or 10 different hairstyles. Consult your mood board, pick 2-3 options that match the vibe, and choose your favorite. You know what you love, so don’t second-guess yourself! Once you make a decision, cross it off your list forever and move on to the next decision.

2. Stay on top of your emails.

This one is probably a no-brainer, but we think it’s important enough to reiterate. Your vendors will already be working with a short turnaround time, so don’t make them wait a week for a decision or an answer to a question. Refresh your inbox often and either respond immediately or mark wedding-related emails “Unread” until you can get back to them so they don’t get lost. Make your goal to respond to every email within 1-2 days. This will keep you and your vendors on schedule and will increase your chances of nailing down goods and services that are likely to book quickly, such as venues and planners.

3. Choose your wedding date based on venue availability.

A lot of venues book up a year (or more) in advance, so your #1 priority should be to book a venue ASAP! With a short engagement, you’ll likely have limited options, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a great space for your celebration. One way to open up your options is to keep your wedding date flexible. Rather than contact venues for specific dates, ask what dates they do have available in the timeframe you’d prefer. That includes being open to non-traditional days, like Friday or Sunday. Make a list of your favorite venues — and maybe some unconventional ones to expand your options — and contact them from the top down. Once you find an available date that works for you and your fiancé, book it and stop your search. Remember, being decisive is key!

4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and delegate tasks.

Let’s be honest, nobody expects a couple to cross off everything on their to-do list themselves, and that’s even more true for couples who are having a short engagement. You have a tribe of friends and family that want your day to be perfect, so it just makes sense to turn to them for help. If you’re a DIY bride, plan several craft nights with your girlfriends to help you knock out those creative details. If you know artists, bakers, or other creatives, ask if they want to contribute their skills so you have fewer outside vendors to book. Looking for more ideas? Check out these helpful tips for how and what to delegate to friends and family. Once you start delegating, you’ll want an easy way to keep track of everything. Create a shared spreadsheet on Google Drive and ask each person to update it regularly. That way you (or your maid of honor) can make sure everything gets done without having to constantly check in with each person individually.

5. Buy your dress off the rack or online.

There are so many great alternatives to custom wedding dresses these days! Online favorites like BHLDN and Nordstrom provide gorgeous options that can be at your house within a week or two. If you’re looking for something a little more unique or less expensive, we’ve also found dozens of online shops with bridesmaids dresses pretty enough to get married in and wedding dresses under $200. If online shopping isn’t your thing, most bridal boutiques do offer off-the-rack options but they are likely to be more limited. We recommend contacting the boutique to find out if their inventory aligns with what you’re looking for before making an appointment. Whether buying online or off the rack, don’t forget to take into account alterations and avoid buying a dress that will need extensive changes made.
