A Glacier Elopement Made Possible by a Once-in-a-Lifetime Giveaway

February 8, 2026 | justine

With a helicopter landing on a glacier and their closest family along for the ride, Chelsey and Eli planned an adventure elopement that focused on experience over tradition. Their glacier elopement in Alaska blended dramatic scenery with thoughtful personal details, including a black, white, and pearl color palette inspired by Eli’s mom, seasonal fall florals in deep reds and purples, and a ceremony setting that felt as unforgettable as the moment itself.

Behind the epic setting is a love story that began years earlier. Back in 2012, when Chelsey was just 12 and Eli was 15, they crossed paths at her cousin’s house and didn’t even speak. “As soon as he left I looked at my cousin and said, ‘I’m gonna marry him,’” Chelsey shared. Years later, they reconnected in high school, started dating her senior year, welcomed their baby boy, and grew together through the challenges of becoming parents at a young age.

When it came time to turn that story into a wedding day, the path forward felt clear. Made possible by a generous giveaway organized by Junebug Weddings vendor Chelsa Jay, their adventure unfolded with helicopter views, emotional vows, and family moments set against one of Alaska’s most dramatic landscapes.

Planning a Wedding Look Around the Season and Setting

Chelsey went into planning with a clear idea of how she wanted the day to feel visually. “I knew I wanted the classy black/white and pearl look especially because Eli’s mom wears pearls every day and she’s such a classy woman. I wanted to have a piece of that on our wedding day.”

Because their elopement took place in September, they leaned into deeper seasonal tones for the florals. Moody reds, pinks, and purples added warmth against the icy surroundings and complemented the fall atmosphere without competing with the glacier backdrop.

How Full-Service Teams Simplify Adventure Weddings

One of the biggest surprises for Chelsey and Eli was how relaxed the planning process felt. “Our photographers actually planned our whole elopement. They got the helicopter, flowers, Airbnb, hair and makeup, cake, and restaurant all set for us,” Chelsey said. “It was so seamless and the most relaxing day because of everyone involved. I really put my trust in everyone and it paid off.”

For couples considering a glacier elopement, having a team that understands remote locations can remove much of the guesswork. With experienced vendors managing transportation, timing, and location-specific details, Chelsey and Eli were able to stay present and enjoy the experience instead of worrying about logistics.

Why Team Chemistry Matters on Elopement Days

This wedding team came together in a uniquely personal way. Chelsa Jay, who had known Chelsey since photographing her senior portraits at age 17, organized the giveaway that made the elopement possible. “She put on a glacier elopement giveaway and all of these wonderful people and businesses donated their time, talent, and expertise to give us the most beautiful day,” Chelsey shared.

From meeting hair and makeup artist Jackie for the first time and instantly clicking, to working with their second photographer Jana who kept the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable, every interaction helped set the tone for the day. Even the helicopter pilots stood out for how well they cared for the family during flights.

Florist Kasara added another emotional layer. She was already part of their extended family, and Chelsey had hoped she would design her wedding flowers long before the giveaway ever happened. Having someone who cared so deeply about them play such a visible role made the day feel even more personal.

Deciding Where to Spend and Where to Save

Because the elopement itself was gifted, Chelsey and Eli were able to focus their budget on what mattered most to them. “We put all of our funds into our rings, our wedding attire, and another helicopter for our parents and our oldest son,” Chelsey explained.

Including family in the experience became a priority and added another layer of meaning to the day. It also allowed them to avoid many traditional wedding expenses while still creating something unforgettable. “Weddings can be so expensive. I can’t recommend a glacier elopement enough!”

Structuring the Timeline Around Emotional Moments

Some of the most emotional moments happened before the ceremony even began. “We had the most amazing first look. It was everything I had been imagining since I was a little girl. Eli looked so amazing and he made me feel so beautiful. It’s a moment I will never forget.”

During the ceremony, emotions continued to run high. “Eli could hardly get through his vows without crying and I thought that was so beautiful,” Chelsey shared. Their six-year-old’s excitement added even more joy, turning the ceremony into a celebration of both their marriage and the family they had already built together.

Scenic Stops After the Ceremony

After exchanging vows on the glacier, the experience didn’t end there. The helicopter flew them to a second mountain location where they took additional portraits before heading to dinner. The extra stop gave them time to take in the scenery, slow down, and fully settle into the feeling of being newly married.

For couples planning a glacier elopement, building in more than one scenic location can add variety to photos while also making the day feel more immersive and adventure-driven.

What to Know Before Booking an Adventure Wedding Team

Chelsey’s biggest takeaway came down to choosing the right people. “Pick the best team of people and vendors. Don’t go with anyone because maybe they seem trendy. Pick people that have great work AND great personalities,” she said. “We spent so many hours with all of these amazing people and we had the best time.”

From a childhood love-at-first-sight moment to emotional vows surrounded by ice and sky, Chelsey and Eli’s wedding proves that meaningful celebrations don’t need to follow a traditional script. With the right team, clear priorities, and a willingness to embrace something different, their day became exactly what they hoped it would be: personal, memorable, and completely their own.

Simplicity and Elegance Meet in This Malibu Wedding Inspiration

February 6, 2026 | justine

There’s something undeniably cinematic about the California coast. For this Malibu wedding inspiration, Junebug vendor Staci Brucks Photo set out to capture connection, fluidity, and timeless style against the dramatic ocean backdrop. “We wanted the shoot to feel cinematic yet effortless, blending refined editorial styling with organic, unscripted moments,” she shared. The result feels intimate, romantic, and modern, like a love story unfolding naturally.

With soft coastal light, clean architectural lines, and sweeping waterfront views, Malibu became the perfect setting for a celebration that felt expansive yet personal. As the couple walked, danced, laughed, and spun together in the breeze, the vision came to life. “Those in-between moments are where the magic really lives,” Staci reflected, pointing to the candid interactions that shaped the day.

What We Love About This Malibu Wedding Inspiration

  • A movement-first approach that highlighted real connection over perfectly posed moments
  • Soft neutral tones inspired by the coastal landscape
  • A floral installation created through collaborative problem-solving
  • Live musicians that enhanced the overall atmosphere
  • A relaxed cinematic flow with a polished finish

Choosing a Color Palette That Works With The Setting

The design centered on soft neutrals like ivory, warm whites, muted greens, and subtle coastal tones. These colors were chosen to complement the Malibu setting rather than compete with it. “Everything was intentionally understated to let light, movement, and emotion take center stage,” Staci shared.

For couples, this doesn’t mean sticking to plain colors. It means paying attention to your surroundings. Coastal venues often pair well with soft, airy tones, while garden or vineyard spaces work nicely with warmer, natural shades. Choosing colors that work with your location helps the overall design feel cohesive without needing heavy decor.

Adapting When Plans Shift

Not everything went according to plan. A large floral arch was originally meant to frame the ceremony space, but when rental pieces became unavailable, the team adjusted on-site. “Instead of forcing the original plan, we collaborated in real time and created a grounded floral installation,” Staci shared. The final result felt natural and well suited to the setting.

For couples, this highlights the importance of flexibility. Having a trusted creative team allows you to adapt when things shift and often leads to solutions that feel even more thoughtful than the original plan.

Creating Authentic Moments Without Over-Posing

One of the main goals behind this styled shoot concept was to move away from overly structured photos. “This shoot focused on simplicity, allowing emotion, movement, and connection to lead,” Staci explained. Instead of directing every moment, the couple was encouraged to walk together, dance, and interact naturally.

For couples planning their own wedding, this starts with the timeline. Leave space between major moments so you’re not rushing. Build in time for quiet walks, private moments, or even a short dance together. When you slow things down, genuine moments happen more easily and the photos reflect that.

Choosing a Setting That Supports the Story

Malibu was selected for its natural beauty and dramatic coastal setting. The ocean views, rolling hills, and architectural elements created a backdrop that felt elevated while still feeling grounded. “The open landscape and coastal light heavily influenced how the shoot was photographed,” Staci explained. “We leaned into wide, airy frames paired with intimate close-ups to support the emotional story.”

Think about how your venue will shape the overall experience. Look for locations that offer beautiful scenery but also allow space for quiet moments and natural interaction.

Working With Vendors Who Share the Same Vision

This project came together through close collaboration among creatives who shared the same creative direction. Each vendor brought their own expertise, which helped the entire day flow smoothly.

Throughout the shoot, Staci led the creative direction and posing, guiding both the couple and the team to lean into natural light, movement, and thoughtful framing. “There was a strong sense of trust across the team, which allowed everyone to create freely and confidently,” she shared. The approach focused on achieving a polished, luxury look without relying on excessive styling.

For couples, this is a reminder that choosing vendors who understand your vision matters. When your team is aligned, the planning process feels easier and the final result feels more cohesive.

Creating a Wedding Day That Feels Effortless

The biggest takeaway from this Malibu wedding inspiration is simple. “Focus on how you want your day to feel, not just how it looks,” Staci advised. “Choose pieces that move well, build space into your timeline for genuine moments, and trust your creative team.”

When you prioritize connection and presence, the celebration feels relaxed, meaningful, and memorable. And that’s what ultimately makes a wedding feel timeless.

Modern Design and Disco Energy at a Tulum Jungle Wedding

February 4, 2026 | justine

For Ty and Chase, music has always been part of the story. They met through mutual friends in early 2018 and quickly connected over DJ sets, live shows, and travel. Just months into dating, Chase left for a six-month backpacking trip. “We were able to stay in touch the whole time, and upon arrival back home, we picked up where we left off,” they shared. That rhythm of long-distance calls, festival weekends, and road trips eventually led them to settle down in Toronto.

In 2023, during a trip to Mexico with friends, Ty proposed. Two years of planning followed, all leading to a high-energy jungle wedding in Tulum that blended bold design, nonstop dancing, and a setting that felt completely different from home.

They knew early on they wanted a jungle wedding that leaned into Tulum’s natural surroundings while making space for their love of music, movement, and color. The result was a celebration that felt immersive, playful, and unmistakably theirs.

What We Love About This Jungle Wedding:

  • A “disco jungle party” concept that mixed bold color with lush greenery
  • A first look and private vows for a more intimate start to the day
  • A neon sign reading “Music sounds better with you” that doubled as decor and a keepsake
  • Film cameras on every table for guest-shot memories
  • A dance floor set deep in the jungle for an unforgettable party atmosphere

Designing a Wedding Around Music and Movement

Three words guided Ty and Chase’s overall vision: “disco jungle party.” They wanted the day to feel expressive, high-energy, and built around dancing. “We are a very fun, quirky couple who loves to dance, so that was a big part of what we wanted our wedding to embody,” they explained.

Tulum stood out for its mix of jungle scenery, nightlife energy, and tropical atmosphere. Still, they were clear about one thing. “We loved all of the greenery that Tulum had to offer, and did not want a beach wedding, but a wedding with lots of foliage.” Warm tones like reds, pinks, and oranges were layered into the design to create contrast against the surrounding greenery and amplify the disco-inspired aesthetic.

Making Time for Quiet Moments Before the Celebration

Before the wedding day, Ty and Chase welcomed guests with an Italian-themed beach party at Zorba Villas. The relaxed atmosphere gave everyone a chance to connect before the main celebration. “It was nice that everyone was able to meet and say hello before the big day,” they said.

On the morning of the wedding, they focused on staying present. Getting ready alongside close friends and family set the tone, followed by a first look and private vows. “We knew we were both too shy to do those in front of everyone,” they shared. That quiet pause together helped ground the day before stepping into the ceremony.

Adding Meaningful Touches to a Small Wedding Ceremony

With only 65 guests in attendance, Ty and Chase designed their ceremony to feel intimate and interactive. A close friend officiated, bringing familiarity and warmth to the moment. Their wedding party stood beside them, and guests were invited to recite part of the vows together, turning the ceremony into a shared experience rather than a one-sided exchange.

Music once again took center stage. A live piano accompanied the processional, while their recessional song, “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone, immediately shifted the energy from emotional to celebratory. “Music was important for us during this,” they shared, and it was woven into every transition of the day.

Working With Local Experts for a Destination Celebration

Ty and Chase always dreamed of a destination wedding and landed on Tulum early in the process. Pinterest helped organize their ideas, but their planning team at Tailormade Dreams brought those concepts into reality. “There were certain things that we knew we wanted in our wedding, and our wedding planners were able to bring all of our ideas to life,” they shared.

Their photographer, Junebug vendor Julieta Rabadan, was already part of their journey. She photographed their proposal in Tulum two years earlier, making the decision to work together again an easy one. From there, their planners helped build out the rest of the vendor team, handling logistics that would have been difficult to manage from Toronto.

Finding a Venue That Supported Their Wedding Vision

Nu Tulum stood out early in the venue search. “Food and beverages were very important to us. We wanted people to go ‘Wow’ when they tried the food,” they explained. The open-air restaurant also offered the kind of environment they couldn’t replicate back home.

One of the biggest draws was the ability to place the dance floor directly in the jungle. “As a couple from Canada, we don’t have that type of event space back home, and really wanted to take advantage of the Tulum environment.” The venue’s layout and natural surroundings became a major part of bringing their jungle wedding vision to life.

Adding Personal Details That Travel Well

Because they flew in from Toronto, Ty and Chase relied heavily on their planners to execute details locally. Still, they packed meaningful personal touches that reflected their personalities. One suitcase was filled with custom fans, a postcard-style guest book, and film cameras for every table. “We adore film photos, so it was such a nice touch to have everyone’s point of view of the wedding after.”

Their neon sign reading “Music sounds better with you” became both a statement piece during the reception and a keepsake they were able to bring home.

Creating a Reception That Keeps Guests on the Dance Floor

Once the ceremony wrapped, the celebration shifted into full party mode. The couple curated a playlist that moved from disco to house and wrapped up with dubstep. Ty even stepped behind the decks to DJ part of the night.

The bar added another layer of energy. “The bartenders had so much flair. They always wanted to make drinks and wanted people to have a great time.” Combined with guests who stayed on the dance floor from start to finish, the reception felt less like a formal program and more like a late-night festival with friends.

This was the heartbeat of their jungle wedding, where music, movement, and community came together.

What Couples Should Know Before Planning a Destination Wedding

Looking back, Ty and Chase keep their advice simple. “If it is a destination wedding, have a good planner and trust them.” They also encourage couples to slow down during the process. “It’s very easy to get away from the main point, which is that you are marrying your person. Take the time to be excited and trust that everything will work out.”

And one final reminder for tropical celebrations: weather is unpredictable. Staying flexible and focused on what truly matters made all the difference for them.

For Ty and Chase, their jungle wedding wasn’t just about bold design or late-night dancing. It was about gathering their favorite people, celebrating their shared love of music, and creating a day that felt joyful from beginning to end.
