Classic Meets Cool in This Industrial Dallas Wedding at Howell and Dragon

September 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

We. Are. Swooning. Maci and DJ celebrated their most special day at one of Dallas’ coolest industrial venues, Howell and Dragon! The first thing we noticed when admiring these photos by Brooke Taelor is that this couple knows how to do fashion-forward. Wait until you see how flawless every bridesmaid looked in their white Jasmine Bridal jumpsuits—yes, they have pockets! The groomsmen, dressed in grey suits from The Black Tux, didn’t disappoint either. We’re absolutely obsessed with the simple, hexagon-shaped ceremony altar designed by Warehouse Rose Events and elegant table settings put together by planner Meant to be Events. If you’ve been looking for classic wedding inspiration, Maci and DJ’s day at Howell and Dragon is the one for you!

The Couple:

Maci & DJ

The Wedding:

Howell and Dragon, Dallas, TX

We really didn’t have colors. Our flowers were white and we had lots of greenery all around, with a few silver accents. The most color we had was DJs suit. He wore a dark green suit that turned out to be a PERFECT fit with the whole vibe.

The overall look was really just a reflection of our style and things we love. We like simple and classic but added our own personal style to it. When we went to see Howell and Dragon, we immediately fell in love. It’s modern and SO romantic. It had everything we needed and was the perfect size.

Of course the entire day was the best day of my life, but the most memorable moment was reading our written vows during the ceremony. This was something DJ had said from the beginning that he wanted to do, but something I was extremely scared of. We obviously know how we feel about each other, and tell each other daily, but to show all of our family and friends that love was something special. When we got home from the wedding to prepare for the honeymoon we reread our vows to each other and then again when we returned from our honeymoon. We love reliving it.

There were SO many favorite photos, but I did have one that meant the most to me (tearing up just thinking about it). After the ceremony, DJ and I walked to the hallway and shared our first moments together as husband and wife. Brooke captured a photo of us in that moment hugging. She took so many beautiful and creative photos that day, but this moment meant the most to me and every time I see the photo it brings back that exact feeling I had that day.

Choosing Brooke as our photographer was the best decision I’d made (besides marrying DJ). She was there for me through planning the wedding and every other detail in between. We are so blessed to call her our friend now. And here’s the crazy thing, ALL of our vendors stood out. I have NO idea how we got so lucky. I want the throw an event again just so I can use them all again. I wish I could hug them all around the neck. They went above and beyond for us.

Planning an Intimate Wedding? Get Inspired by This Private Joshua Tree Wedding at The Hi Desert Ranch

September 16, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Madison and Collin’s elopement at The Hi Desert Ranch in Joshua Tree makes our hearts pitter patter in the best way. Let’s start with this venue — The Hi Desert Ranch is a micro-resort in the desert of California, which is a unique (and awesome) venue choice for an intimate wedding or elopement. Madison’s Daughter’s of Simon gown was a fabulous choice for her day in the desert. Pro tip: Bring along accessories, like the fun hats Madison and Collin wore, for a variety of looks during your portraits! Speaking of photographs, Karra Leigh Photography captured every detail with creativity and perfect tones for the terracotta-inspired color scheme. Planner Heather Lane Events also knew exactly how to make the couple’s eclectic vibe come to life with bohemian florals designed by Oak & Amble and reception rentals from Signature Rentals. If you’ve ever dreamed of an intimate wedding in Joshua Tree, The High Desert Ranch just might be your destination!

We wanted the vibe to reflect our current style in day-to-day life. We have eclectic tastes, so we wanted something to showcase that. We loved the color scheme we picked and worked around that.

Our ceremony was the most memorable part of the day. We wrote our own vows and had a family friend marry us. Exchanging our written vows pledging our lives to each other is something we will never forget! I also love our ceremony photos – it was right at sunset and they are just stunning.

Karra Leigh was amazing to work with. She is the sweetest soul and genuinely loves her couples. She captured every little detail of our day and our love for one another. We love our wedding photos!

Advice from the couple: Hire a planner!!! We could not have pulled off our wedding without the help of family and our planner. We were truly able to be present in our day knowing that everything was taken care of!

This Somerley House Wedding in New South Wales is Full of Dreamy Forest Vibes

September 15, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Erin and Aidan celebrated their everlasting love surrounded by an enchanting forest at the elegant Somerley House garden venue in New South Wales. Get ready, because this day is something straight out of a fairytale! We’re absolutely smitten with Erin’s eclectic style – especially her botanical braid created by Belinda Vangelov and handmade, astral-inspired dress that fit her like a glove. Olguin Photography perfectly documented the couple’s emotional ceremony under the canopy of the Somerley House forest, dreamy florals by Wild Iris Floral Design, and romantic portrait session that ended under a full moon. We hope you enjoy swooning over this day as much as we did!

The Wedding:

Somerley House, Sutton Forest, New South Wales

Our most important factor in planning was to remember why we were doing this – it is so easy to get caught up in all the small things along the way that you lose sight of the end. Our wedding day was our chance to share the love we have for each other in front of our loved ones.

From the groom: Every time I think back to that wonderful day I can see Erin‘s smile – I have never seen her happier, I have never seen her more at peace and at one with her world and me.

I love remembering him holding my hands as we stood in a circle after the ceremony and having all of our guests surround us in a “circle of love” that our celebrant suggested we did. It was to have everyone we care about become connected through a soft touch on a shoulder and then us in the centre of all that love, it felt amazing to have everyone we love so close.

I absolutely loved having time to have photos taken. Alex and the boys from Two Folk Films made it so so much fun, joking around, running through fields to get the best light, helping to look when I dropped an earring whilst running through a field. We just kept going, it was an amazing time, so personal and special, at times I forgot they were there and just enjoyed the moment with Aidan. I have never felt closer to Aidan than at that time.

I asked my dressmaker to incorporate stars and moons into the dress, which she did so well. The sleeves were so much fun when twirling around and dancing, even when they landed on my face when Aidan tried to twirl me around.
