Personal Touches in Portugal

Our ceremony felt magical. We wrote our own vows and asked our family members to read poems and verses of scripture. Each song played throughout the day was carefully chosen. There was a moment of prayer and reflection to Ave Maria for our family members and friends who were there in spirit on our special day.

Capturing This Classic Portugal Wedding

Our photographers, Aguiam Wedding Photographers, were a dream! We felt this immediately on our engagement shoot as well. Preparing for our first look, we laughed and felt like old friends with our photography team. For the ceremony and reception, they disappeared into the background, but it was evident from the photographs that they had been eyeing every detail— big and small!

DIY Wedding Favors

Our welcome bags were DIY and featured Portuguese snacks and elegant tile cookies from T Bakes. At dinner, each place setting featured a tile magnet labeled with the guest’s name.

Wedding Advice from the Bride

Wedding planning is so much fun. Find vendors who are communicative and responsive. We found it fun to keep the details a secret, so the majority of our family and friends were blown away by the day. Also, make sure you plan your time for the day. For example, create a list of photos you would like for the photographer, think about the order of songs you may like to hype up your crowd, be mindful of time for speeches, etc.

Creatively Elegant Savannah Wedding at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum

November 17, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Love is in the details, especially at this elegant Savannah wedding. By keeping it simple, minimalistic, and elegant, Kristin and Alex let the city where they fell in love do the talking. They added their own personal flair to their wedding by sharing a unique wedding favor—fresh local ground coffee bags to keep the party going.

Every inch of this wedding coordinated perfectly—the wedding invitations, the bridal bouquet, the green trees of Savannah, and the table decor. Savannah and Greg from Authentic Creative captured this beautiful ceremony so keep on scrolling to see minimalism at its finest!

Simply Elegant Colors for this Maritime Museum Wedding

We used black and white with shades of grey for our color palette. This was honestly one of the hardest decisions to make because we do love color.  Originally, we considered a bolder direction, but to achieve the timeless look we were going for the choice became obvious. We were able to get creative with some of the grey shades we used. And honestly, going with this color scheme ended up making a lot of other decisions much simpler.

Memorable First Looks and Teary Eyes

The most memorable part of the day was definitely the first look. It was filled with the biggest emotions of the day for us—it really doesn’t get any better than that feeling. Suddenly any lingering stress completely washed away and all that we felt was pure joy! I particularly loved seeing my older sister—and maid of honor— bawling her eyes out while our good friend and groomsmen offered her his handkerchief. Our photographers, Savannah and Greg, coordinated everything perfectly.

Personalized and DIY’d Wedding Touches

We DIY’d a good portion of our wedding. Utilizing our graphic design backgrounds, we designed our entire wedding suite—down to the map of Savannah with a list of all our favorite spots. We also designed all of our signs, built the frames, removed labels from 100 wine bottles for table decor (which was quite fun), created our own personalized coffee bags for wedding favors—the list goes on! We spent time on the projects because we wanted it all to look as professional as possible. It was worth it to us because we loved the time being creative and building the day together.

Wedding Advice from the Bride

Find inspiration and tips through other weddings but don’t compare. Now more than ever it is so easy to fall into the trap of trying to be the best bride with the most beautiful wedding. I’d encourage all couples to focus on the fact that you are marrying the person you love and this day is yours to create together, then it will be perfect!

Dramatic Mexico Destination Wedding at Costa Careyes

November 16, 2020 | riley

When world travelers plan a destination wedding, it’s going to be a good one. Charlotte and Tom have been all over the world together and chose Mexico for their summer Costa Careyes destination wedding. The couple tied the knot at Tigre Del Mar–a literal tower with sweeping ocean views–before partying the night away during sunset under cafe lights.

With the help of planner House of Kirschner, the couple’s over-the-top nuptials were full of bright colors, simple florals from Diego Figueroa, and live music from Harlem Gospel Choir–who they flew in from New York. Not to mention Charlotte wore a one-of-a-kind Danielle Frankel long sleeve ceremony gown and high-low Alex Perry party dress that she changed into later in the evening.

These two proved that they know how to throw an extravagant event, and thankfully Junebug member Meraki Weddings was there to capture every well-thought-out detail. Keep scrolling to see the glamorous destination “I dos” and be prepared to feel some serious wanderlust.

Unique Bridal Fashion

I wanted my wedding dress to be chic, modern, and a little different—I enjoy taking risks in fashion. Danielle Frankel is the definition of risky for weddings! Danielle and I worked alongside each other for an entire year so I saw this risk up close. I love what she’s about. I saw her gown was the runner up of CFDA Awards and fell in love. The dress was called Charlotte and I like to think it was after me! I was the first bride to wear this dress, and it made me feel special. I changed into an Alex Perry dress after I cut the cake. It was short enough to scream “party time”—one of the coolest dresses I’ve owned. Many people told me not to change, but to me, this dress still felt bridal and allowed me to feel more relaxed. I got to enjoy myself.

The Importance of Music

Much of the wedding was about providing good music. We flew in the Harlem Gospel Choir from NYC, who sang at our ceremony and cocktail hour before dinner. We wanted to recreate the experience of Kanye West’s Sunday Service.

A Memorable Musical Surprise

The most memorable moment, by far, was the song my husband wrote for me as a surprise during the ceremony. Much of the wedding was about providing good music, and the Harlem gospel choir absolutely killed the song my husband wrote. It was so emotional and touching–the most romantic thing he has ever done for me.

Why A Costa Careyes Destination Wedding

We knew we wanted to have a destination wedding. We’ve been out of Australia for eight years, lived in many different countries, and explored the world together. It just made sense. Mexico was perfect since it’s a summer destination and a very diverse country. Tom and I made many scouting trips and traversed the east and west coast until we landed on Costa Careyes. Not one of our guests had been there before & it had a cool vibe–very unique. It has 10km of beautiful coastline and is colorful and luxurious.

Over The Top Wedding Favors

When our guests arrived at their rooms in Costa Careyes, they were welcomed with custom beach bags, which were filled with branded hats for the men/visors for the ladies, personalized M&M’s with my and Tom’s face on them, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, Advil, and more. On the wedding night, our guests got personalized plates to eat, which were then packaged up at the end of the night and sent to their rooms. We had an artisan in Guadalajara design and make them.
