Multi-Cultural Cafe de L’Horloge Wedding Full of Impromptu Dancing

March 3, 2021 | kailey

Two cultures, two big families, and a lot of dancing—we can’t think of a more unique and fun way to celebrate the joining of two lives. From the food to the fashion, Grace and Toni’s multi-cultural Cafe de L’Horloge wedding was full of beautiful Indian and Nigerian influences.

After the original venue canceled 72 hours before their big day—Grace and Toni leaned on their talented team of vendors to recreate their wedding on a short timeline. Wedding planner and designer, Salar Events & Design, brought the couple’s dream ceremony to life in less than three days at Cafe de L’Horloge. The whimsical reception space—complete with stained glass windows and a quaint fireplace—was dressed in simply elegant Efflorescence floral arrangements and draped twinkle lights

Photographer and Junebug member, Annabelle Agnew Photography captured jaw-dropping images that prove a simple wedding doesn’t mean sacrificing incredible and meaningful moments. Sometimes, less is more.

Less Is More At A Cafe de L’Horloge Wedding

Our ceremony was simple but filled with meaningful moments of laughter, gratitude, and reflection. In light of all the difficult circumstances of 2020, and the uncertainty of whether we’d even have our wedding, it was with sweet relief we sang (or in some cases, hummed ) the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” before the vows. We will otherwise remember that at our wedding, we danced…and we danced often! An especially fun memory is the impromptu dance down the aisle after our vows.

Involving Loved Ones

Our community’s involvement is what made our ceremony personal and meaningful. Our sweet friend and former roommate played “Moon River” on her guitar as my father and I walked down the aisle. We had a close family friend officiate the ceremony, and another lead us in singing “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Finally, our pastor, a friend of many years, gave a thoughtful wedding sermon.

Hire Vendors You Trust

Hire vendors you trust to go above and beyond to bring to life the day of your dreams. For us, it was important and rewarding to work with vendors—particularly our wedding planner— who understood and worked with the nuances of our cultural backgrounds. Because of COVID-19, our initial venue canceled 72 hours before our wedding day. We can’t imagine what we would have done without the initiative and help of our talented team.

Anabelle Agnew’s Take On Dancing The Night Away

It was a wedding full of surprise dance performances. At the reception, the bridesmaids choreographed a virtual dance mash-up—with appearances from family and friends all over the world. The evening ended with Toni and his groomsmen surprising Grace with a Bollywood style flash mob.

Wes Anderson Inspired Wedding With A Unique Color Palette

March 2, 2021 | riley

Weddings are not only a day to celebrate your love, but they’re also a day to let loose and have fun. There’s no better way to do that than surrounded by your loved ones, some disco balls, and a theme dedicated to your favorite Hollywood filmmaker. Chloe and Ethan’s Wes Anderson inspired wedding was as stunning as it was eclectic. One look at the photos beautifully captured by Mo Speer Photography, and you’d have no idea that the couple had to scrap all of their original wedding plans thanks to COVID-19.

With a yellow and orange retro color palette, an Alexandra Grecco wedding gown complete with a feather-covered cape, blankets to keep guests warm in the chilly October weather, and dramatic florals arranged by Flowers by Dreams, the couple thought of every single detail. Scroll on to be transported to a magical Wes Anderson inspired wedding–in the best way possible.

Throwing A Wes Anderson Inspired Wedding In Their Hometown

My best friend’s parents own our venue. When we realized that we were only going to be able to host ten guests in Dane county–if at all–they were generous enough to offer their stunning property with lush green hills and an old oak grove forest that looked like it was made to host a ceremony. My best friend got married there a few years before, and we were so lucky that they were excited to host us. I always wanted an outdoor wedding, and it made it extra special that it was in my hometown.

Including Friends and Family In The Ceremony

Our ceremony was completely personalized and written by us, down to the custom vows and ring exchange. We carefully thought about every song that played as we led up to the processional and wanted to ensure the ceremony had substance but represented our love. It was not focused on any religion, so we had a friend read from the Alchemist. Another friend read a poem that I wrote about our love story, and my brother wrote and officiated a whole ceremony around the theme of “love stories.” There weren’t many dry eyes in the crowd when it was all said and done, and it was very laid back and custom to us.

Planning A Wedding With COVID-19 In Mind

The most important thing we learned while planning a wedding during COVID is to keep your love at the center of every decision. We knew we wanted to get married in 2020 and understood that to be able to do that, we’d need to ensure that our guests were safe. We wanted to feel confident knowing that we weren’t putting people at risk. Thoughtful decisions were made to see this through, including an outdoor wedding in late October in Wisconsin, as well as cutting our guest list drastically. We can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to have a small, intimate wedding.

Romantic And Intimate Shakespeare Garden Elopement

March 1, 2021 | riley

Elopements have taken the world by storm thanks to COVID, and while they may not be the celebrations couples originally planned on having, we love how intimate they are. After months of planning, librarians Amanda and Caitlin opted for a Shakespeare Garden elopement as a nod to their time as booksellers and favorite date night activity.

Caitlin looked glamorous in her Eloquii blue sequined dress, and we’re obsessed with Amanda’s bridal suit. There’s nothing we love more than couples breaking wedding traditions, after all. And both styles fit perfectly with their New York city portraits by photographer Sylvie Rosokoff. Keep scrolling to take a stroll through this Big Apple elopement.

The Couple:

Amanda and Caitlin

The Wedding:

Shakespeare Garden, Central Park, New York

Why A Shakespeare Garden Elopement

We chose the Shakespeare Garden in Central Park as the site of our elopement because one of our favorite traditions–that started before we were even dating–has been to go to Shakespeare in the Park every summer together. We met as booksellers, and are now both librarians. Since we are also early risers we also wanted to marry early in the morning—it’s the perfect way to start the day. Marrying early allowed us to avoid the crowds and made us feel like we were all alone in Central Park.

Unique Bridal Fashion

For a long time, Caitlin thought that we would both be wearing suits at our wedding. However, after a long winter and COVID quarantining, she wanted something colorful and bright and sparkly; something that reflected how she felt–exuberant in love. She was able to find her blue sequined dress on Eloquii in the sale section after a long virtual search. It wasn’t so much about the brand or price of the dress but how it made her feel, which was incredible.

The Couple’s Favorite Photo At The Met

Our favorite photo was taken sitting on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a place we often visit in non-COVID times. We like to get lost amongst the art together. When we first saw this photograph as part of a sneak peek, we actually gasped. It’s of the two of us looking at each other, and Caitlin’s flowers resting against her foot. The colors are so vibrant, and our shared look is so clearly full of love. Sylvie was able to beautifully capture this moment of intimate joy. If we only had this photo of our wedding day, it would be more than enough.
