Uniquely Dark Modern Wedding Filled With Lush Greenery

March 19, 2021 | riley

If you’ve always wanted a tropical wedding but don’t want to travel, then you’re going to love Keira and Raymond’s dark modern wedding filled with lush greenery. With the help of Alicia Keats Wedding & Events, the couple turned the ballroom of the Fairmont Pacific Rim into a Hawaiian-themed celebration full of monsteras, palms, and brightly colored florals arranged by Flowerz. And when we say full of plants, we mean it. We’re talking two floor-to-ceiling flower walls and giant centerpieces!

The decor didn’t stop there, though. The moody ballroom also featured a custom-made neon sign backdrop, gold accents that perfectly accentuated the emerald green color palette, a monstera-printed dance floor, and a funfetti cake inspired by Milk Bar

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got some packing to do. Trust us, one look at these photos from Junebug member Meghan Hemstra will have everyone booking a one-way ticket to paradise. See you there!

Dark Modern Wedding Vibes

I wasn’t the kind of girl who had been planning her wedding for her whole life and didn’t like the idea of being the center of attention the entire day, so I struggled to find inspiration that didn’t feel cliche. It was actually my husband’s idea to go with a more tropical theme, and we ran with that to create something that felt like it was dark and moody. We were really inspired by our trip to Singapore and incorporated those vibes as much as possible. Everything else was about having a cool party that also happened to be our wedding.

A Ceremony Written By The Bride

We struggled with the ceremony because it focused on us, and we aren’t super sentimental or emotional people. I write for a living, so I ended up working pretty closely with our officiant to come up with words that made sense to us. We kept it short and sweet—under 15 minutes. I also came in through a hidden entrance to buy myself a few extra seconds of people not having their eyes on me.

Wedding Planning Advice From The Bride

I didn’t really want a big wedding and ended up having to compromise. But I was still able to really enjoy it by focusing on the important things, like making it fun and comfortable and not too stuffy, having great flowers and decor, and having a great photographer. Our venue and seated dinner were very fancy and elevated, so we added some casual elements like french fry and chow mein bars, a candy table, and–my favorite–a confetti wedding cake. I think the big takeaway is, you might not get to have everything you want to have, but pick a few things you care about and enjoy those aspects. This goes for your wedding budget too!

Intimate Gallery Pastry Shop Brunch Wedding

March 18, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

You read that right, a brunch wedding. Food bloggers Elyse & RC wanted a wedding that was personal to them and included their favorite things—food and their loved ones. They chose to have a Gallery Pastry Shop brunch wedding because they fell in love with the food and the decor, and we don’t blame them. Spending the morning surrounded by their favorite people was picture perfect, thanks to Meagan Lawler Photography

The details of this wedding were swoon-worthy, like the stunning lace and chiffon bridal gown that paired beautifully with Elyse’s long, red mermaid locks. We know you’ll drool over the food and drinks, but wait until you see the cozy outdoor patio—talk about cute and quaint. Grab your brunch favorites and keep scrolling to see this Gallery Pastry Shop brunch wedding. Cheers!

Choose What’s Most Important For You

Make the day about the things that are most important to your partner and you—not anyone else! The beauty of marriage is starting new traditions with your love, and the wedding is the perfect place to start.

Why A Gallery Pastry Shop Brunch Wedding?

Through our food blog, we got close with one of the owners of Gallery Pastry Shop. It was an easy decision to pick the beautiful outdoor patio for our small ceremony and share the best brunch around with our family and friends inside the restaurant. Their decor is modern, wood-based, simple, and beautiful with older eclectic touches. We didn’t have to do much of anything to decorate it for our special day.

A Truly Blissful and Memorable Moment

Walking down the aisle to our favorite song “Happiness Amplified” by Above & Beyond, and as the chorus started to pick up singing “this is the love of my life right here.” At that exact moment, I rounded the corner so our guests and my hubby could see me and my big-smiling glory. A strong, warm fall breeze rustled the leaves from the trees and they fell down around me more perfectly than I could have planned. Pure bliss!

A Wedding That’s All Their Own

I asked my best friend’s Dad to officiate our wedding because he’s like a father to me. The music was all of our favorite Above & Beyond songs. However, we didn’t do any of the traditional dances. Instead, we just enjoyed amazing brunch food, bloody Mary’s, mimosas, and delicious French pastries with our friends and family.

Gorgeous Dark Palette Wedding Inspiration Shoot

March 17, 2021 | riley

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again–we cannot get enough of the dark color palettes in 2021. This gorgeous dark palette wedding inspiration shoot put together by Dragonfly Photography used black and gold to create an elegant and modern aesthetic that beautifully matched the interior of the Metropolitan at the 9. And while we can’t get enough of the look of this whole shoot, we love the planning that went into it even more. Rather than explain it ourselves, we’ll let Oona Breyer of Dragonfly Photography do all the talking.

Dragonfly Photography On The Idea Behind The Dark Palette Wedding Inspiration Shoot

Our vendor team is barely under 50% Black-owned companies–it was originally 50%, but one company has to drop out due to COVID quarantine. Our vendor team includes Cake’tique Custom Cakes, Minister Sharnise, Pennmanship Calligraphy, and BR Design Co.

The idea behind the shoot was “a live painting of the bride created a stunning detail for this multicultural art gallery inspired editorial featuring an incredible diverse vendor team.”

This editorial was inspired by the lack of diversity in the wedding industry and the need for more inclusion and couples of color. We put this project together to showcase the beauty of Black love and the incredible talent that a diverse vendor team can bring to a wedding day.

As a fun addition to the shoot, our real-life couple ended up renewing their vows, making it a super sweet event in the midst of a meaningful editorial.
