Minimalist Oakdale Wedding With Florals Galore

November 2, 2021 | kailey

The saying less is more couldn’t be more true when it comes to this modern Oakdale wedding. With the help of wedding planner Jessika McCuin, Gab and Hunter were able to bring to life their dream celebration where family and florals took center stage. This simple, chic nuptial— captured by photographer Heath Whorton—is proof that simple can still be show-stopping.

Complete with vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, The Venue at Oakdale made for a jaw-dropping ceremony and reception space. The customizable nature of the venue allowed this couple to incorporate personalized touches unique to their love—cue the florals!

Because the bride’s family owns Vase and Vine, the wedding was heavily focused around the florals. Stunning pop-of-color arrangements cascaded the reception tables and created a wowing ceremony backdrop. Plus, it was a great way to incorporate loved ones in the wedding process. If you’re in search of minimalistic wedding inspo where florals take a front seat, look no further.

Gab and Hunter

A Memorable First Look At This Oakdale Wedding

Our first look was so special. It was really the best part of the day because everything else was so busy and went by so fast. The first look gave us time to spend with each other. We wrote our personal vows and read them to each other during this time. We laughed, we cried, and we just expressed how much this day meant to us.

Planning Florals With Mom And Owner Of Vase and Vine

I will never forget planning and designing the florals with my Mom, Gina. That was so special for me and it made all the long nights worth it to see it all come to life. It was really the perfect vision and I’m so lucky to have those memories together with her.

The Importance Of A Wedding Planner

The best wedding planning advice I could possibly share is to hire a wedding planner! Jessika, from Jessika McCuin Weddings was an absolute dream to work with. The entire day was seamless and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Modern And Minimal

We wanted something very modern but still minimal. We didn’t want a crazy over the top venue. It just isn’t our personality. The Venue at Oakdale was a new venue at the time we booked. It was the perfect mix of modern and minimal that we wanted all along. The Venue at Oakdale was also local to a lot of our family and friends so it was a no brainer for us to book!

Songs That’ll Get Your Guests Dancing

Our goal was to have the whole vibe be fun and upbeat. We didn’t want the classic, slow music playing as our guests walked into the ceremony. We wanted our guests to hear throwback songs, mixed with country, and today’s hits. It set the perfect tone for our wedding and was exactly what we wanted.

A Breakfast Menu For The Win

We’re big breakfast people and we knew that’s what we wanted on the menu. We chose chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, quiche and a biscuit bar full of jam, honey and fruit. It was delicious!

Moody and Timeless Orchard House Wedding

November 1, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

The many couples who planned their weddings during the pandemic had to be flexible with their venue, their wedding date, and even their guest lists. Anna and Anthony were no strangers to these challenges—although you’d never guess their Orchard House wedding had any issues. By keeping their guest list low and hosting their wedding virtually, they created an intimate and timeless wedding.

With a sword arch sendoff, a handfasting ceremony, guest poem readings, and the moody weather, their wedding had so many fun and unique details. To end the very special evening, they shared a special first dance that was unlike any other. Thankfully, Junebug member Nikk Nguyen Photo captured the day so keep scrolling to see what we mean.

The Couple:

Anna and Anthony

The Wedding:

Texas Hill Country Orchard House, Austin, Texas, USA

Their First Look

The first look was something our photographer suggested and I was surprised how nervous we both were about it. I surprised my husband in a different dress so seeing his face was perfect. It was a wonderful and private shared moment of happiness before the big event.

Having An Orchard House Wedding

The pandemic drove our wedding venue choice. We were quite limited in what was even available. But, we chose an Airbnb that was honestly our dream spot.

Personalizing Their Wedding

We wrote our own vows and chose poems to read during the ceremony—one of which my husband wrote! We also had a handfasting portion that was officiated by a dear friend.

Working With Nikk Nguyen Photo

It was a dream to work with Nikk Nguyen Photo! He got every shot we could have wanted and snapped touching keepsakes we’ll always treasure. He stayed back to let the day happen but was full of gentle and very helpful direction for our portraits.
