Effortlessly Glam Tuscan Wedding at Castello di Gabbiano

March 18, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

After falling in love with Italy and getting engaged on the Amalfi Coast, Dorien and Philippe knew that Tuscany was the perfect region to say, “I do,” and Castello di Gabbiano was the ultimate venue to host their family and friends. The old-world architecture, the rolling vineyards, and the cozy atmosphere were perfect for a day that was filled with effortless glamour and rustic elegance. The couple’s florist, Wild Flowers & Wodka, added minimal arrangements in pinks, creams, and oranges that added a subtle softness to the classic rustic Italian setting. And the bride’s modern two-piece ensemble from Rime Arodaky added a touch of whimsical romance that we can’t get enough of! Kreativ Wedding nailed it in capturing every detail of this gorgeous Tuscan wedding!

The Couple:

Dorien and Philippe

The Wedding:

Castello di Gabbiano, Tuscany, Italy

Instead of organizing a big traditional wedding in our home country (Belgium), we chose to have an intimate and small wedding weekend in Italy with our best friends and family. We both enjoy life, very much enjoy traveling, and sitting down for dinner with a good glass of wine with our friends or family. As our guests all took the effort to come to Italy especially for our wedding — we are still very grateful for this — we wanted the weekend to feel like a vacation for all of them. So for us, the most important thing was that there was an informal, cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

Reading our vows was the most memorable part of the day. The words we read to each other were so beautiful and came right from the heart. We were surrounded by our best friends and family but at the same time it felt like it was just the two of us — it was such a special moment that we will always remember!

Make sure you are surrounded by people who you trust; planning a wedding is quite a thing, and this is even more when planning a destination wedding. Pick your vendors not only based on their professional qualities – which are of course very important — but make sure that your personalities also match. In this way, the planning will be much more fun.

Also, get inspired by wedding blogs (Junebug Weddings was by far our personal favourite!), Instagram, and Pinterest. That’s how we created the styling of our wedding ourselves. Finding the desired rentals on the spot was not always easy, which is why we brought a lot of rentals from Belgium. Some decoration we have bought personally instead of renting. (Tip: The stuff you buy but cannot use after the wedding, you can easily sell to wedding planners or rental companies afterward!)

Our first dance song was, “Nothing Really Matters” from Mr. Probz. The choice for our first dance song was really hard and even stressed us a bit in the weeks before the wedding. In the months prior to the wedding, we took a basic dance course. In the beginning, honestly, it was a disaster! Philippe really could not feel the rhythm and did not get the moves; after a few classes, though, it got better and better. After finally choosing a first dance song, we booked two private choreography classes and we were taught how to dance to the song we chose. However, all those moves required practice and lots of time. Due to a lack of the latter, we decided not to stick to the choreography we were taught and to go for our own moves. Luckily, it went more than fine so we felt really happy and satisfied!

This Fairmont Banff Springs Wedding is Equal Parts Elegant and Epic Views

March 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Oh, Banff! Is there a more romantic place to say, “I do,” than among the crystal clear waters and soaring mountains of this iconic Canadian resort town? Haley and Brenden’s special day at Fairmont Banff Springs was elegant to its core, featuring a classic black, white, gold, and pink color palette, a stunning Hayley Paige gown, and sophisticated details around every corner. The planning team at Locke Wedding Co. helped make the day feel effortless, allowing the couple’s fun-loving personalities to shine through the elegant, almost regal design. As for picture-perfect wedding moments, Katch Studios captured them all and then some, making us to feel like we were right in the middle of this epic and romantic celebration!

The Couple:

Haley and Brenden

The Wedding:

Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, Alberta, Canada

Brenden and I are very indecisive people but we both agreed that finding a gorgeous venue was essential and would help set the theme for the rest of our planning. Also, we really wanted to make sure our guests enjoyed themselves as much as possible so having good entertainment was key. We hired the Barry Shaw Band and they had our guests up dancing and having fun the entire time. Lastly, the food! Brenden and I really wanted elegant and delicious food that would satisfy everyone’s tastebuds. The staff at the Fairmont Banff Springs certainly delivered!

Brenden and I both had similar surprises for one another that shocked us both equally. During the ceremony when we were exchanging rings, I gave Brenden his late father’s wedding band. This was a really special moment for Brenden, and he feels so honored to wear it every day. Moments after, Brenden surprised me with a gorgeous wedding band. Up until that point, I was under the impression that we were going to simply use my engagement ring, but he got me good!

Brenden and I spent a long time deciding on a venue for our wedding. We searched and searched but always had the Fairmont Banff Springs on our list. It wasn’t until I was watching another couple’s wedding video on the Junebug Weddings website that sold me. It was so magical and had a regal, elegant and classic feel, which was what we were going for.

We hired the most incredible photographer to capture our wedding day, that I actually found while browsing the Junebug Weddings website: Kat from Katch Studios. Kat is amazing at what she does, from making both Brenden and I feel so comfortable in front of the camera with her awesome personality and sense of humor to ensuring she got the perfect shot…even if that meant climbing a mountain after just rolling her ankle!

We also hired Parfait Productions to video our wedding, which was money well spent. Justin and Ixchel were so fun and again made us feel so comfortable. It was so amazing to see the final product and witness just how talented these individuals really are. I have watched our video more times than I can count and every time get overwhelmed with the same emotions.

We were really on the fence with giving out favors at our wedding. I always felt as though they were a waste of money and guests usually don’t end up taking them. However, Brenden and I are huge doughnut lovers and thought that giving our guests something edible would be a nice added treat. Jelly Modern Doughnuts made us incredible doughnuts with a blush glaze and gold sprinkles to match our colors. I am so glad we decided on this idea because they were delicious and looked great on the tables!

This Folksy Windy Ridge Washington Wedding Incorporated the Groom’s Finnish Culture in Beautiful Ways

March 16, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Millie and Zacharias’ outdoor Windy Ridge Washington wedding was as intimate and charming as could be! The couple used rustic and vintage decor, earthy florals, and a neutral color palette to set the mood, and added nods to the groom’s Swedish-speaking Finnish roots in the signage, favors, and during the ceremony. The wide-open feel of the venue, the bride’s timeless Pronovias gown, and the eclectic mix of decor gave this wedding a distinctly folksy vibe that Dawn Photo captured brilliantly. As soon as you set eyes on these gorgeous photos and sneak peek film by Trousseau Films, we’re confident you’ll agree this Washington wedding is the definition of summer wedding goals!

Millie and Zacharias

The Wedding:

Windy Ridge, Washington

Every detail in the planning was very important to me but the most important was that we would find a good photographer to capture all of the best moments of our special day, and we did. We love our photos!

My husband and his family are from a Swedish speaking area in Finland. So during the ceremony, my father-in-law said a prayer and a short personal message in Swedish. It meant a lot to us and to him that he could do that.
