Modern and Colorful Tribeca Loft Wedding

Chic and stylish with a modern urban vibe—there’s nothing quite like a wedding in New York City. Overlooking Manhattan’s iconic skyline, Nina and Stephen’s Tribeca loft wedding was a modern fairytale. Like many couples, they postponed their original plans due to the pandemic. Still, with the expert guidance of their planner Elizabeth Hall Events, they were able to achieve the wedding they’ve always envisioned.

Located in a former 1920’s printing press building, the couple exchanged their vows under an eye-catching ombre floral chuppah at the Tribeca Rooftop terrace against stellar city views as their backdrop. They then made their way down the grand spiral staircase leading to their reception at the penthouse below. In a beautiful glass-enclosed atrium, the couple and their guests danced the night away underneath the stars.

From the colorful florals and gilded details down to the modern take on the seating chart—Junebug member Elvira Kalviste captured all the details the couple put so much thought into. Whether you’re picturing a chic bash on a rooftop overlooking the city or you’ve set your heart on an intimate affair in a modern industrial loft, scroll through these photos for ideas to inspire your own.

Why They Had A Tribeca Loft Wedding

Living in NYC for six years, we knew we wanted a New York area venue because we felt most comfortable celebrating close to home, and it would be convenient for friends and family. Once we found Tribeca Rooftop, we knew it was special. I can’t say enough how breathtaking the rooftop terrace is with the downtown NYC skyline. Floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed brick surrounded the reception space, so it didn’t feel like a typical ballroom. We especially loved that it was an all-in-one venue included the separate ceremony and reception spaces and catering and bar, so we appreciated the simplicity. Not to mention the full sushi bar at cocktail hour, which guests still rave about today.

A Personalized Jewish Ceremony

Both of us are Jewish and we knew we wanted to have a Jewish ceremony to honor our faith. However, we’re not that religious in our daily lives. It was important to have a wedding that reflected our values and to remove any part of a traditional service that didn’t serve us. Rabbi Hayley worked with us to craft the ceremony and ketubah language that was unique to us and made sure that we felt comfortable with every part of the ceremony. I’m so thankful that we took the time to speak to Rabbi Hayley about our relationship ahead of the big day because it made the ceremony extremely meaningful.

A  Memorable Moment Walking Down the Aisle

Walking down the aisle to meet my future husband was a moment I’ll never forget. I chose to walk to “Halo” by Beyoncé because it just felt fitting. Stephen is my angel and I’m excited to spend the rest of my life with him.

A Wardrobe Malfunction Eased The Bride’s Nerves

It was super windy on the roof and the wind blowing from behind me as I approached the aisle with my parents. My veil was going crazy, flying over my head and being distracting. What was supposed to be a special and emotional moment became light and fun. The giggles from the audience eased my nerves. My sister and Maid of Honor had to take the veil off me at the altar because the wind was so strong it was pulling on my hair extensions. When she finally took it off, everyone clapped! I decided if that was the biggest hiccup of the day, I’d take it.

9 Videography and Wedding Photography Trends

April 25, 2022 | riley

Much like everything else in life, there are trends that come and go in the wedding world. From fashion to florals to signage, new trends are always popping up. That goes for wedding photography and videography too. Editing styles and mediums of photography and videography have shifted, making for some pretty epic wedding photos and videos. From film to TikTok videos to direct flash, these are some trends that you can expect to see this year!

1. Film Cameras

It’s no secret that film has taken the world by storm this past year. More people are yearning for that nostalgic, less-than-perfect vintage feeling that it brings. And because shooting on film still offers a very traditional look, it’s not a trend that will feel dated later on in life. In fact, it’s already proven that it can stand the test of time, as it’s becoming popular once again after 20 years.

Junebug Tip: Wedding Photography Trends in Your Budget

If a film photographer is not in your budget, consider placing disposable cameras at every table so your guests can capture your special day from their point of view.

2. Direct Flash

There’s something about direct flash that will have you feeling like you’ve attended the party of the century. Think paparazzi bombarding your favorite celebrity but it’s you on your special day instead. This effect offers a more candid and playful look, especially when capturing nighttime portraits of the newlyweds and the reception party.

3. Documentary

If you were to look back at wedding photos from ten years ago, you would find a heavy emphasis on family photos and posed couple portraits. While this is still around, more couples are opting for a more documentary style of photography–also known as reportage or photojournalism. This involves candid photos that take you through the details of the day in a much more laidback manner.

4. Soft Lighting

Dark and moody used to be the name of the game but it’s time to make way for softer airy lighting. Much of this has to do with how your photographer edits the photos, however, it also has to do with the time of day. If this is a look you’re hoping to achieve, you want to avoid harsh daylight by tying the knot later in the afternoon, ideally around golden hour.

5. Movement

Another trend that falls in line with the documentary-like style is movement. What does movement photography mean exactly? Your wedding photographer captures your movements to create a soft yet blurred effect. This gives you a minimalistic, artistic gallery that is the epitome of aesthetically pleasing. If you get some of these photos back in your gallery, don’t be surprised! Photographers often include these as a reference to the fast-paced feeling of your day—but you should have a balance of crystal clear images included as well.

6. 8mm Film

Film isn’t just popular with wedding photography. It’s also hugely popular in wedding videography. It brings a motion-picture feeling to your wedding video which can only be described as romantic. If this is something that you’re looking for but also want a traditional wedding video, search for a videographer that offers both. This way, you get the best of both worlds.

7. Drone Footage

This is yet another popular one for both photography and videography, although you tend to see it more often in video. If you’re hosting a destination wedding in a beautiful faraway place, this is one of the best ways to capture the beauty of the location. It’s also a fun way to capture your ceremony or reception from above.

8. TikTok

Okay, we know what you’re probably thinking—this doesn’t count as videography. And in a sense, you’re right because your videographer isn’t going to be the one filming TikTok videos for you. However, it has become a trendy way to document your day in a  personal and lighthearted way.

9. Highlight Videos

Wedding videos used to be ten minutes long with every single detail included. But attention spans are shrinking thanks to Reels and TikTok, so more couples are opting for shorter wedding videos that show the highlight reels. The best part? This can save you money because your videographer doesn’t have to spend additional hours editing.

Now that you know what to expect with the current wedding photography and videography trends, it’s time to book a photographer and videographer. Check out our directory of photographers and videographers from around the world where you’ll find the vendors of your dreams.

Luxurious Mediterranean Elopement Inspiration

April 24, 2022 | riley

What it means to elope has evolved over the years. And with more couples choosing to forego the traditional wedding route, destination elopements are having a moment right now. But just because you and your partner have decided to say “I do” just the two of you, doesn’t mean that you can’t have the luxurious wedding you’ve always envisioned–especially when you have the right vendors by your side. This Mediterranean elopement inspiration shows us that you can totally have your (wedding) cake and eat it too.

Set in a historical estate with breathtaking sea views, lush gardens, and a grand Art Nouveau Spanish mansion, the talented team came together to showcase the beauty of the venue and grounds of Xalet del Nin. Asymmetrical floral arrangements by Natalias Events wrapped around the mansion’s columns framed the couple’s vow exchange. While the reception out on the balcony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea featured a glam tablescape of peach and white centerpieces, a hanging floral installation, crystal chandeliers, and gilded details.

On top of that, the couple was dressed in elegant attire. The groom looked sharp in a classic suit while the bride stood out in her fit and flare strapless gown with sheer corset and tulle cape. From the gorgeous venue, romantic details, and sophisticated fashion, these incredible photos captured by Sierra Katrina Photography are all the inspiration you need for a luxurious elopement!

Photographer’s Thoughts On This Mediterranean Elopement Inspiration

This styled shoot featured romantic floral arrangements climbing the Spanish villa, champagne waterfalls at golden hour, an illuminated tablescape, and our couple sharing dances and small kisses under the stars. A secluded wedding on the Mediterranean that’s intimate yet doesn’t sacrifice a luxurious atmosphere. The Xalet del Nin is a newly renovated wedding venue that every couple has their eye on right now, and we’re obsessed with it.
