An Intimate Lago di Braies Elopement Plus a Day of Adventure in the Dolomites

November 20, 2025 | justine

For Ann and Daniel, Lago di Braies was the heart of their story. Nestled in the Dolomites, the lake became the perfect setting for a day that felt calm, intentional, and completely theirs. They began the morning gliding across still waters, exchanged vows surrounded by mountain air, then spent the rest of the day chasing sunlight across peaks, capping it off with spritzes and laughter as the sky turned gold. It was an effortless, adventure-filled experience that celebrated love, nature, and the freedom of doing things their own way.

What We Love About This Lago di Braies Elopement:

  • A sunrise ceremony at Lago di Braies surrounded by quiet mountain air
  • A helicopter ride to Cadini di Misurina for jaw-dropping portraits
  • Intentional pauses built into the day—coffee breaks, a swim, and a private dinner
  • Minimalist styling that let nature and emotion take center stage
  • A day planned entirely around experiences that felt true to them

How Their College Friendship Led to a Lifetime of Adventure

Ann and Daniel first met at the University of New Hampshire. They were friends throughout college but went their separate ways after graduation. “Dan moved to New York and spent some time in California before returning to Boston, where I had been living since college,” Ann shared. “He reached out when he moved back and asked to take me out. After one date, the rest was history. We moved in together just weeks later!”

On their first date, they bonded over a shared love of travel and the mountains, a spark that ultimately shaped their wedding day. “We both had the Dolomites on our bucket list.“ Once we found out we could rent the boathouse at Lago di Braies, we knew this was the place.”

How to Build a Wedding Day Around Shared Experiences

Dan grew up on a lake, and after they met, they bought a home on one in New Hampshire, so starting their marriage beside another felt serendipitous. “The fact that Lago di Braies was in the mountains and on a lake made it an obvious choice,” Ann said. “It was private, beautiful, and the early morning timeslot allowed us to start the day by saying ‘I do’ as soon as we could.”

Without a guest list or reception to plan, Ann and Daniel focused their budget on shared experiences. “We wanted most of our budget to go toward enjoying the destination we’d chosen,” they shared. “We picked activities that we would have enjoyed regardless of whether it was our wedding day or not.”

It’s a mindset that reflects the growing appeal of destination and elopement-style weddings, especially in places as awe-inspiring as Lago di Braies. “It’s easy to get caught up in planning, but do what feels authentic to you as a couple, and you won’t regret it.”

How They Found Their Dream Vendors from Afar

Planning a destination elopement can feel overwhelming, but Ann and Daniel found ease through Junebug vendor Shawna Rae Photography. “Shawna really helped us plan,” they explained. “She suggested alternative locations, recommended the helicopter company, and even helped with the logistics of the entire day.”

With Shawna’s help, the couple explored Alpe di Siusi and took a helicopter ride with Elikos to Cadini di Misurina, each stop offering a new perspective of the Dolomites’ grandeur.

Their advice for other couples? “Find vendors that feel like friends. Since it was just us, we wanted to spend the day with people we genuinely enjoyed being around.”

Slowing Down to Savor Every Moment

While their Lago di Braies ceremony was undeniably romantic, what made the day truly special were the small, unscripted moments. “We wrote our own vows, which was the most personal part of the day,” Ann recalled. “Being able to get into one of the rowboats and have the lake to ourselves was such a special memory.”

The rest of their day was intentionally unhurried. Between locations, they swam in their hotel pool, grabbed cappuccinos, toasted with Aperol spritzes, and later sat down to a quiet private dinner.

A Soft, Simple Ending to a Beautiful Adventure

Surrounded by mountain air and quiet golden light, Ann and Daniel had everything they hoped for: a celebration that felt peaceful, personal, and true to who they are. Their Lago di Braies elopement was proof that the most meaningful weddings don’t need an audience—just intention and love.

2026 Wedding Trend Forecast: Immersive Venues, Intimate Gatherings, and Less Tradition

November 19, 2025 | marissa

Image by Gerardo Rodriguez. Wedding design by Junebug Vendor Essenza Riviera.

With the new year hovering on the horizon, it’s time to lay out our predictions for 2026 wedding trends. These forecasts aren’t meant to dictate what you should or shouldn’t do—they’re simply a glimpse into the evolving landscape of celebrations. What ideas are reshaping ceremony design, fashion, florals, and guest experience? What aesthetics are replacing the ones we’ve seen for the past few seasons?

As weddings continue to become more immersive, intentional, and experience-driven, certain themes are beginning to rise to the surface. Based on our experience viewing hundreds of celebrations—across social media and real wedding submissions—these are the movements we expect to define the year ahead.

Key Wedding Trends to Watch in 2026

Immersive Wedding Locations

Think ice caves, crumbling ruins, mountaintop viewpoints, underground caverns, and architectural relics for ceremonies and receptions. In these instances, the venue itself becomes the primary design element. These spaces need minimal décor and instead rely on nature, texture, and geography to create a world guests can step into.

The Disappearance of Wedding Parties

More couples in 2026 are expected to forego traditional wedding parties altogether. The shift reflects a desire for intimacy, streamlined logistics, and a less formal approach to the day. Guests can still hold an honored status—but without defined roles, titles, or matching outfits.

Neo-Classical Opulence

Weddings within sprawling villas, frescoed ceilings, oversized candelabras, tailored tuxedos, and formal guest attire are on the rise. This wedding theme blends Old World luxury with a modern editorial finish. It’s less “fairytale glamour” and more “European art history meets runway.”

Silver

Silver is replacing gold, bronze, and warm metals in wedding fashion and décor. Expect to see silver tableware, silver-accented attire, reflective details, and chrome-adjacent finishes. It feels fresh, cool, and timeless.

Analog Touches

Disposable cameras, Polaroids, handwritten notes, vintage film photographers, vinyl playlists, and tactile guest books are all on the rise. Couples want tangible keepsakes and sensory experiences that feel personal and nostalgic.

Guest Wellness

As multiday celebrations continue to rise, wellness is becoming part of the guest experience rather than a separate activity. Beyond optional yoga or spa time, couples are incorporating small, thoughtful touches—hydration stations, gentle morning start times, nature walks, herbal mocktails, and spaces designed for decompressing between events. The goal is simple: celebrations that feel energizing instead of exhausting.

Wedding Décor Trends

Reflective Aisles

Mirrored or reflective aisles amplify florals, lighting, and architectural surroundings. They give even the simplest ceremony setup a striking, cinematic feel.

Personalized Dance Floors

Hand-painted patterns, monograms, murals, and motifs are turning dance floors into focal points. They tie the overall design together and elevate the reception space in a memorable, photo-forward way.

Round Reception Tables—Reimagined

Round tables aren’t new, but how couples arrange them is. Creative layouts—clustered, staggered, spiraled, or mixed with long tables—allow for what planners are calling “spatial design,” a new layer of wedding styling that blends form, flow, and function.

Lamps and Swag Lights

Wedding designers are turning to hanging lamps rather than chandeliers in the new year. Imagine either neutral or statement lampshades hung in swag formations over dance floors or dining areas. Table lamps are also appearing more frequently, offering a warm, Art Deco–adjacent glow that feels elevated and inviting.

Wedding Floral Design Trends

The “Excavated Garden”

Imagine floral design touches with soil, moss, roots, and botanical textures that appear unearthed rather than arranged. This style leans into natural imperfection and brings a raw, grounded energy to décor.

Integrated Installations

Instead of traditional arches or solo hanging pieces, florals are being woven into venue architecture—wrapped around beams, climbing staircases, framing windows, or built directly into structural elements. It’s immersive, organic, and more sculptural than ever.

Bold, Modern Blooms

Expect to see more sculptural flowers—especially anthuriums, orchids, and calla lilies—used in monochromatic arrangements or paired with unexpected textures. The look is contemporary, editorial, and quietly dramatic.

Wedding Fashion Trends

Bridal Shoes: Classic Pumps

The pendulum is swinging back toward timelessness. Classic pumps are replacing strappy sandals and chunky platforms, offering a more refined silhouette in photos and during the ceremony.

Brown Bridesmaids Dresses

Brown isn’t a typical wedding color, but in 2026 it’s becoming one of the most elegant choices. Rich cocoa tones and soft taupes look stunning across bridesmaids’ dresses, drapery, linens, and floral pairings.

Bridal Gowns: Architectural & Statement Silhouettes

Clean lines, sculptural draping, strategic cutouts, statement sleeves, and unexpected shapes define the modern bridal look. It’s bold without being overtly trendy.

The Return of Boho—Refined

’70s-inspired lace, long sleeves, gauzy fabrics, and high-neck silhouettes are back with a sophisticated twist. Think Free People, Dôen, and designer brands like Chloé. It’s bohemian with editorial polish, not rustic.

2026 Destination Wedding and Elopement Locations

Alaska

Iceland may have defined the last decade of adventure elopements, but Alaska is emerging as its next evolution. Similar dramatic landscapes with even more seclusion—and for U.S. couples, no passport required.

Guatemala

Mexico will always remain a top choice for destination weddings, but Guatemala is quickly gaining traction. Iconic venues like the ruins of Santa Clara and Panza Verde offer dramatic backdrops, rich history, and deeply textured environments.

Malta

Couples looking for Mediterranean charm beyond Italy and Greece are heading to Malta. Between historic architecture, clear waters, and easy coastal elegance, the island offers a romantic escape without the crowds.

Trends We Still See Going Strong in 2026

Some favorites from recent years aren’t going anywhere. In 2026, we expect to continue seeing:

  • Champagne and cocktail towers
  • Bodiced and corseted wedding gowns
  • Scarves and sashes as bridal accessories
  • Drapery as design
  • Multi-day destination weddings

Taken together, these 2026 wedding trends mark a turning point toward weddings that feel immersive, intimate, and grounded in the present moment. They celebrate place, texture, emotion, and the people who matter most. But above all, they remind us that the most timeless weddings aren’t the most on-trend—they’re the ones built with intention.

Everything You Need To Know About Wedding Websites

November 18, 2025 | kailey

Image by Rolling Portraits. Keep reading on for everything you need to know about wedding websites

The wedding world is constantly evolving. And wedding websites are a new-to-the-scene tool that can make your planning process a breeze. Imagine having an online platform that stores all your event information in one place that your guests can revisit, even if they’ve lost the physical invitations (we’ve all been there!). Creating a wedding website makes that possible.

You can use it as a space to share your wedding day itinerary, link to your registry, or even just show off your epic engagement photos taken by your top-notch photographer. No matter what your reasoning for creating it might be, it’s a Junebug-approved tool you’ll want to consider. But where do you even begin? From what host to use to what information you should include, here’s everything you need to know about creating a wedding website.

Benefits Of Having A Wedding Website

Although physical wedding invitations will always hold a special place in our hearts, some couples might find wedding websites an easier and cheaper alternative. Instead of investing money in sending out physical save-the-dates, your wedding website can act as your invitation—and then some. But that’s not the only benefit.

After the pandemic, we quickly realized that big changes can happen overnight. This is true when it comes to your wedding day plans as well. And when planning your big day, it’s important to expect the unexpected. That’s where having a wedding website becomes a helpful wedding planning tool. It allows you to quickly communicate any changes or important information to all your guests.

What To Include On Your Wedding Website

1. Your Love Story

Your wedding day is all about celebrating your love. That’s why the first thing you should add to your wedding website is your love story. Where did you meet? When did you meet? Your guests will undoubtedly enjoy reading all the monumental moments that led to this big moment. Remember, there is no limit to what you can include, so divulge as much as you’d like about your love story. Extra points if you add pictures.

2. Event Itinerary

After sharing your love story, it’s time to get to business—your wedding day itinerary. You’ll want to be as detailed as possible, leaving no room for confusion or follow-up questions. Include addresses for each location and start times for your ceremony, reception, and any other events (like a cocktail hour) that you’ve fit into your timeline.

The best part? Your guests can revisit this information electronically on your wedding day. This will make for smoother transitions and leave no room for confusion.

3. An Online RSVP Option

Gone are the days when guests have to formally mail in their RSVP cards. It’s now as easy as hitting a button. Sure, this process is easier for your guests, but for you as well. It’s just another thing you can cross off your “to-do” list. Plus, spending less time worrying about keeping track of RSVPs means more time spent on fun details like planning your wedding decor.

Junebug Tip: Looking for a zero-stress way to handle all of your wedding guest communication? We recommend Lovebird.  With its all-in-one platform and beautifully customizable wedding websites, you can manage every detail and every message in one seamless space.

4. Include Your Registry Details

The beauty of creating a wedding planning website is that all of your information is in one place—your wedding registry included. It allows your guests choosing to bring a gift to shop on their own time, without having to ask for the link.

5. Introduce Wedding Party

Your website is the perfect spot to give your guests a little introduction to the wedding party. That is if you’ve chosen to include a wedding party. Include pictures and a little biography for the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and any others that’ll play a vital role on your big day. In their bio, include fun facts about them, how you met, and of course, some photos so guests can place a name to the face.

6. Dress Code Details

Whether you’re hosting a black-tie affair or a casual backyard celebration, it’s important to prep your guests. While there is a small space to include dress code information on paper wedding invitations, wedding websites allow you to go more in-depth. Finding the perfect wedding guest outfit can be difficult. So trust us when we say, the more information you can give your guests, the better.

7. Transportation and Lodging

This section is especially critical if you’re planning a destination wedding or have guests coming in from out of town. If your guests are unfamiliar with the area, consider including travel recommendations like which airports are closest, as well as transportation options. It’s also helpful to include hotel recommendations near your wedding venue.

If you’ve arranged a hotel block for your wedding party and guests, this is a great place to include the booking information and pricing logistics.

The Top Wedding Websites To Use

With endless wedding website options, it can be difficult to differentiate them all. Here are a few of our favorites to kickstart your search:

How To Share Your Wedding Website

Your wedding website is officially complete—congrats! Now it’s time to send it out to your loved ones. If you’ve chosen to send out physical invitations, add your link to your paper invite. But the easiest and cheapest (aka free) way to share your website is to share the link on social media.

If you and your significant other will be sharing this link on your social platforms, consider adding a password to your website. This will make it accessible to only those invited to your celebration.

For couples wanting both formal invitations and a wedding website, you can have the best of both worlds. After you complete your registry and website, it’s time to start crafting your save the dates. Get started by checking out these unique save the dates worthy of announcing your upcoming celebration.
