Glitzy Houston Barn Wedding at The Farmhouse

September 15, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Julia and Hozana wanted their ceremony to move their guests with its beauty, but this Houston barn wedding at The Farmhouse was full of glitz and glamour from start to finish. The breathtaking modern barn made up of bright white spaces, massive windows and fabulous feathered chandeliers was the perfect setting for their tender foot-washing ceremony meant to signify their vow to serve each other for life. Julia, a wedding photographer, was meticulous about the styling of every detail throughout the day, from bridesmaids gowns of blush pink chiffon and glittering rose gold sequins to beautifully simple florals and lush greenery by Nikki Thornton. Photographer Shila Pratt captured the happy couple post-wedding outside their fabulous venue under dramatic cloudy skies while videographer XO Creative took advantage of the high ceilings and uncontained excitement of the couple.

The Couple:

Julia and Hozana

The Wedding:

The Farmhouse, Houston, Texas

From the beginning, since before we even got engaged, I knew I wanted two things to occur at our wedding. I wanted an amazing, heartfelt, and God honoring ceremony, and I wanted people to fully enjoy themselves and have a complete blast.. for it to be not only a memorable event for us, but for all of our friends and family as well.

Being a wedding photographer myself, I was super meticulous about the look and styling of everything as well! I don’t think there was one thing that wasn’t important to me, I was super hands on with all of it.

We wanted our ceremony to be really special. I never wanted to quickly say vows and be done. Before I even met Hozana, I knew I wanted people to be touched and moved by God at my wedding. Hozana brought up that we should do a foot washing at our wedding to signify that we vow to serve each other for the rest of our lives, and had another worship song during the foot washing. I literally cried through most of the ceremony. It was perfect.

One day I told my husband (fiance at the time) that I wanted to open a venue that was a white barn, because there was nothing like that in Houston. Then a few weeks later, I got a FB ad for The Farmhouse. I literally freaked out and immediately called them by clicking on their number on their FB page. I went to visit it the next week, when it was only studs and nowhere close to being done. I knew it was the only venue I wanted to get married in, hands down!

5 Clever Ways to Repurpose Your Wedding Decor From Ceremony to Reception

September 14, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

If you’ve ever thought that decorating your wedding was a big undertaking, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. From ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, there is a lot of space to fill and so many opportunities to show off your design personality! If that sounds overwhelming, we’re about to drop some knowledge to help: reusing décor elements throughout your day is a major time saver, money saver, and stress saver! Read on to discover five ways to repurpose your wedding décor from ceremony to reception.

1. Bridesmaids Bouquets Become Centerpieces

This tip is as eco-friendly as it is budget savvy! Your bridesmaids will be ready to ditch their bouquets as soon as portraits are over, just in time to use them as centerpieces at your reception! Have your florist design the bouquets with your table décor in mind and be sure to ask for their best tips for keeping the flowers fresh all day long.

2. Ceremony Backdrop Becomes Dessert Table Backdrop

Give your reception a little something extra by repurposing your ceremony backdrop behind your dessert display! Many people don’t think to put anything behind their cake table, leaving a big empty space at your reception. A super easy way to carry out your wedding design is to use the same backdrop from your I do’s to style the sweetest part of your reception venue.

3. Ceremony Seating Becomes Reception Seating

Maybe this one is a no-brainer, but we couldn’t not include it! A major money saver when it comes to rentals is using the same chairs for your ceremony and reception. Why rent twice what you only need once?

4. Ceremony Décor Becomes Table Décor

Does your ceremony design include candles or lanterns placed along the aisle? Those same elements can be reused to fill out your reception tables! The same goes for floral arrangements in tall vases, lush leafy garlands, and potted plants!

5. Aisle Rugs Become Lounge Area Rugs

Using rugs as aisle runners is one of our favorite trends as of late. We love the warm and cozy vibes rugs provide to any celebration! These statement-making pieces can be easily repurposed from your ceremony to your reception as part of the décor around your lounge seating area, or even beneath your sweetheart table!

Lush Industrial El Segundo Wedding at Smoky Hollow Studios

September 14, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Emily and Sash’s industrial wedding at Smoky Hollow Studios had the most subtle bohemian details. Andrea Leslie Weddings and Events perfectly executed their vision in bringing a folksy vibe with a macrame backdrop for the seating assignment, ombré arch where they said “I do,” and all the lush greenery and florals provided by Shindig Chic for the reception. This relaxed and joyous day was beautifully captured by Nick Radford and Like A Letter.

The Couple:

Emily and Sash

The Wedding:

Smoky Hollow Studios, El Segundo, California

I knew that I always wanted to wear a long sleeve/high neck dress because that is the style dress my grandma wore on her wedding day, and I have been obsessed with her dress since I was a little girl.

Both wedding planners made the ENTIRE process so seamless and stress-free. Katie Benson planned the entire wedding from start to finish – making sure we knew all of our options for every decision we made and guiding us in the right direction each step of the way. Marissa & team also did such a wonderful job stepping in for the month of / day of coordination – they executed our vision perfectly and handled the rowdy crowd perfectly!

Our vows were just so special and meaningful – along with our friend marrying us who did such a great job of making it so personal, hilarious and memorable!

The food was amazing! Little Nelly served it family style on our long feasting style guest tables. We sat right in the middle of it all, amongst our family & friends.

Processional: Like Real People Do – Hozier
Recessional: Moth Wings – Passion Pit
First Dance: Atlas Hands – Benjamin Francis Leftwich

We LOVE the smoke bomb photos – especially the one at the end of the night when we were walking out with our guests holding sparklers!! The smoke bombs were so fun & different and paired with the sparklers – it just was such a fun moment that our photographer captured perfectly!
