Quirky Areias do Seixo Wedding with Pop Culture Influences

April 5, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Aurora and Tony’s Areias do Seixo wedding balanced fabulously quirky details with the timeless beauty of the Portugal coast! This couple donned bespoke attire inspired by their favorite retro looks, including the bride’s custom blush and burgundy gown by Lorna Gillieron Costume. From a comic book save the date to their cartoon character table numbers, we love how Aurora and Tony reflected their favorite pop culture moments in their totally unique wedding details! The photography team of LOOK Imaginary captured every moment this couple’s wedding, including their incredibly stylish portraits among Areias do Seixo‘s otherworldly backdrops.

The Couple:

Aurora and Tony

The Wedding:

Areias do Seixo, Lisboa, Portugal

The most important part of planning was detail! From the origami paper crane ‘save the dates’ to the venue, cuisine and couture. We painstakingly went through, researched and chose everything. Absolutely everything. We wanted it to represent our personalities, travels, tastes and loved ones.

The groom’s planning advice: Don’t say ‘yes’ to everything early in the process because, even if it’s the easy option then, it will haunt you when the going gets tough! Seriously, though, it was a wonderful journey that challenged our inner resolve and creativity. My pièce de résistance was the wedding invite (image on Look Imaginary website!), which I designed as a Marvel comic with us both riding a paper crane through the night sky above the wedding venue – Aurora’s ruby engagement ring is beaming a ray of light into the cosmos! I did the graphic design for the inside but our amazingly talented friend, Jonny Chaos Illustration, brought our crazy idea to life and absolutely aced it.

The bride’s planning advice: Don’t believe Tony when he agrees with you and says he will do it! As an event manager by trade it was very hard to switch off that side of me throughout the whole planning. I wanted to personally make and create every detail. I even found myself meticulously checking table decorations with the staff on the day of the wedding. In the end I had to just let go and leave them to it (this was quite hard for me!). Alas, this was nothing a soak in the huge concrete jacuzzi (we had in our room) with a glass of champagne couldn’t fix.

To see and be among all of our loved ones was a feeling of pure love that will remain with us for the rest of our lives. Everyone looked amazing. Of course, where we were wedded was incredible, but the day would not have been the same without those that travelled from far and wide – from the U.S, Dubai, Australia, Portugal and the UK – just to name a few!

We had two of our best friends play our favourite Bruce Springsteen song, Racing in the Street, when Aurora walked down the ‘aisle’ (which was actually a wooden pathway that led to the beach). Our friend Tom (a long-time friend of Aurora‘s) and Niklas (one of Tony’s best friends with whom he lived with in Dubai) devised a version of the song to suit the ceremony, which, when we get the wedding video, I am going to send to Springsteen to show him how much his music touches people’s lives!

Our recessional song was Prince’s I Would Die for You. We wanted one of his songs because he was sadly taken away from the world in 2016. We thought that the lyrics were perfect for the occasion. And of course, we are both massive fans of his.

We searched high and low for venues. Aurora is Portuguese so we knew we wanted to get married there. Aurora found the venue, which we went to visit – the first and last venue we visited. We made our minds up immediately. Anyone that has ever been there would say it’s one of the most amazing places, ever (ever). The pictures are a testament to this! We have been lucky enough to visit and stay in some of the most incredible places in this world but this place is truly unique and special. Like the first time we met, it was love at first sight! We will go every year on our anniversary!

I designed my own dress along with my best friend and maid of honour, the very talented Costume Designer Lorna Gillieron. I wanted to have something quite ethereal with an iridescent look, which is why I picked a silk organza top layer. The venue really inspired me on the colour choice as I didn’t want the traditional ivory; I therefore chose a coppery satin silk as the under dress with a structured bodice and irregular beaded appliques to add contrast and detail. My hat was a bespoke design using the same copper silk and organza as well as copper leaves, beading and a birdcage veil made especially for me by the very talented Katherine Elizabeth Millinery.

From the groom: As a lover of colour and out-of-this-worldliness, I chose an ensemble of different items as opposed to the traditional ‘one piece’ approach. The red tartan jacket was from Vivienne Westwood while the shirt, trousers and white cuban heels were a mixture of Gucci and Paul Smith. The western bow tie was from store that specialises in selling vintage american neckwear. Not to forget the origami white rose, which is a symbol of Yorkshire, the county of my birth.

I went off course with the shoes opting for some glittery and snakeskin 70s block heel Marni sandals simply because I just loved them when I saw them and have continued to wear them post wedding. Jewellery was quite minimal – just some long elegant diamond earrings belonging to my Great Grandmother who I’m actually named after. No other piece of jewellery was worthy of going with these earrings as they are so incredible. For my make up a 1950s Audrey Hepburn was my inspiration, as a lover of red lipstick I actually opted against my traditional red for a new darker plum shade for the occasion a shade specifically picked to match the rubies in my engagement ring.

Working with our photographers was absolutely fantastic. We are extremely camera-shy so was actually dreading it! But Orsi and Zé of Look Imaginary were perfection. They seemed to become invisible and didn’t encroach in any way at all. They are a really friendly and a superlatively creative couple. When the photographs were ready they totally blew our minds. Everyone has commented on how incredible the photographs were. We have since shed several tears of happiness looking at these images. ‘Breathtaking’ doesn’t do them justice. The whole composition, mood and warmth of their style is second to none. We made one of our best choices (ever) in choosing these guys. Thanks!!

Our first dance song was Help Stamp out Loneliness by S.W.I.M. This was a song written especially for Tony when he left the UK to go and live in Dubai. Another of his best friends, Bentley (Ben), was the lead songwriter and member of the band. When Aurora came to visit Dubai (when the romance first blossomed), it quickly became ‘our song’, which we used to play over and again when we spoke to each other every night on Skype.

Our wedding vibe was a tapestry of our unique quirks, tastes and loves. It was a cocktail of influences and memories that we collected throughout our pre-married life. These included origami (Tony hand-folded hundreds and hundreds of paper cranes); unique table names and specially-written cards that related to our favourite things (ranging from David Bowie and lasagne to Coca Cola and the film Pan’s Labyrinth); and the page boys, who were all dressed up as ‘mini-Tonys’ with flowery shirts and matching bow ties. Our felt-covered alter egos also featured throughout our wedding (Kermit and Miss Piggy who were both on the event app, thank you cards, and of course, on top of the wedding cake!).

The venue only uses locally sourced produce – most of which is grown on site; the rest being procured from the local farmers and fisherman. Portugal has some of the best produce in the world so we were in an extremely privileged position. And we ate in a converted greenhouse, which the hotel uses to grow vegetables and herbs (and which we ate in some of our courses).

We also painstakingly spray-painted 150 plastic animals to make the name card holders, each of which we individually picked to suit the personalities of our guests. We of course had a gold Kermit and Miss Piggy at our table.

We had a few nice surprises for our guests. For example, we made up gift bags that we placed in each bedroom of the hotel, which out bridal party received when they arrived. These comprised brown-paper Americana ‘lunch bags’ that included a welcome drink (a spirit and our beloved Coca Cola); a taste of Yorkshire (the county where Tony was born) with a bottle of Henderson’s Relish; a taste of Portugal (Aurora’s family origin) with a gourmet tin of sardines; thank-you cards; and bridesmaid/groomsman gifts. We also provided a ‘hangover kit’, which comprised aspirin, vitamins and a voucher for a free Bloody Mary in the hotel bar the morning after the wedding. The wedding favours on the tables were personalised seed packets, which seemed fitting as we were dining in a greenhouse. We had ‘some like it hot’ chilli seeds and ‘you are my sunshine’ sunflower seeds.

Our cake-cutting moment was at an amazing fire-pit, around which everyone gathered with sparklers (quite hard to procure in Portugal!). We also had an incredible Portuguese band called Stout, who absolutely blew the roof off. Everybody loved them. They tailored the set to 80s and 90s music, which was truly incredible.

As time passed by in his wide trips, they communicated only through these poetic love letters, caressed by the autumnal winds and brought from all the corners of the world by the most marvelous and exotic birds. Birds with earthy tones like the ones in her favorite fruits, copper like the cutlery at her table, white like the flowing silk dress caressing her skin, black like the candles in her room, and pastel like the pastures by her garden.

Jewel Tone Boho Wedding at The Glen at Crossmount

October 7, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Just in time for autumn, this wedding takes all of our favorite cooler weather jewel tones and gives them a sophisticated boho flair! The deep reds and sage greens of Sharai and Zach’s wedding color palette can be seen in the bridal party’s flower crowns, the freeform tablescapes, and even the ceremony décor. Sharai and Zach’s wedding at The Glen at Crossmount was full of fab boho style, including Sharai’s mother’s wedding dress that the bride customized with modern lacy details. We love the emotion and attention to detail that Nicole Marie Photography captured in her photos of the couple’s day!

The most important part of planning was planning the atmosphere of the day and ensuring the day reflects us and our relationship.

I wore my mother’s dress. It was an ’80s long sleeved, a-line dress. It had the structure but I needed to modernize it. I took it to a local seamstress who redesigned it completely and it turned out beautifully! I wanted long sleeves and a tight bodice that hugged my body. I was inspired from the bohemian dresses on Pinterest and I was so happy with the outcome.

My bridesmaids all wore different dresses and different colours. I wanted no one to be the same because I do not like ordinary. They had two pieces (skirts and crop tops), floral gowns and even a velour gown! We all had flower crowns which I had always envisioned we would wear. It was magical!

Creative Somerville, Massachusetts Wedding at Warehouse XI

September 17, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

creative-somerville-massachusetts-wedding-at-warehouse-xi-42

A taco food truck, two perfectly vintage bridal looks, and a warehouse venue full of DIY projects make this Massachusetts wedding the ultimate modern eclectic event! Wanting to honor their loved ones, Lauren and Matt held an intimate ceremony by a river boathouse that holds special family memories for both of them. The next day, they invited all of their family and friends to Warehouse XI, a modern event venue that the couple decked out with a donut favor bar, the coolest temporary walls, and artwork made by the very artistic bride and groom! Madeline Barr Photography captured every detail of the couple’s two-day wedding beautifully, including Lauren’s two amazing vintage bridal looks from Gossamer and cute DIY candle favors!

The Couple:

Lauren and Matt

The Wedding:

Norris Reservation & Warehouse XI, Somerville, Massachusetts

creative-somerville-massachusetts-wedding-at-warehouse-xi-1

We chose to have the ceremony on the banks of the North River, a tidal river close to where both of us grew up and a place we both treasure as a spot that holds important family memories. The spot we chose was in front of a quaint boathouse on the riverfront in the middle of small forest preservation. Our guests walked about a half mile into the woods and joined us by the river. It was a truly magical location for us, very naturally beautiful and peaceful and a place where we felt surrounded by the love of all of those who have touched our lives.

creative-somerville-massachusetts-wedding-at-warehouse-xi-43

We DIY’ed quite a bit. We are so very lucky to have very creative people in our lives. Our close friend Danielle McGee of Good Look’n Events designed our wedding and working on a budget we made a lot from the favors, to the banner backdrop and she did all the amazing flower arrangements. My very talented mother who is a botanical artist designed our wedding invitation suite.

creative-somerville-massachusetts-wedding-at-warehouse-xi-19

While weddings are of course a day of utter bliss, love and celebration, both Matt and I have dealt with some significant loss in our lives. While we knew we would be surrounded by the love of our friends and families, there are people in our lives that could only be with us in spirit. It was extremely important that we have a ceremony in an intimate space where we could remember and feel the love of the family members that are no longer with us.

We had our wedding at dusk in a park and the cocktail hour was inside a quaint boathouse with no electricity. We decided to kill two birds with one stone and give 7-day candles that we wrote song lyrics related to light and love on. Matt‘s dad was a blues musician and it was a nod to him. We also had matchbooks made up with the date to give along with the candles. The candles helped to light the space during the short cocktail hour and then guests got to take them home as favors.

creative-somerville-massachusetts-wedding-at-warehouse-xi-21

It was all so memorable, from seeing distant family and friends and having them there to celebrate with us, to the total luck we felt with the perfect weather we ended up with, even though the forecast said rain. Neither of us are big center of attention people so while our ceremony was of course a very memorable part of the day that felt so thrilling to the both of us, I think it was the moments just after, first when we got to crowd all of our guests into a big group picture, with us in the center and everyone around us cheering, to when it was just the two of us, leaning on the boathouse railing, looking out on the river and taking it all in, our first quiet moment as husband and wife.

creative-somerville-massachusetts-wedding-at-warehouse-xi-20

I love that there really isn’t a prescription for weddings anymore, they really come in all shapes and sizes and you are free to make your own plan that suites you. We really embraced that, throwing out a lot of the traditions and making sure to keep those that were important to us. Our wedding was a little different in that it was held over two days because again, one of the most important things to us was the location and the location we chose only allowed for a small, intimate group of our closest friends and family. But we both have large extended families and it was also important that we celebrate with them so we had our small ceremony and dinner Friday night in the country and then the following evening we had our blow out in the city with all 150 guests. Its just what worked for us, so my advice is do what works for you.

In addition, the reception hall was just a big blank space so Danielle enlisted the help of another friend of ours who is a carpenter and built temporary walls to break up the space, and created other very cool focal pieces for the wall. We also personalized the space by hanging artwork done byMatt, the groom, my mom and others. We have sign painter friends do our signage at the reception as well. It was a labor of love and we are so grateful for all the help we got.

My brother has been away in Ethiopia for over two years as a member of the Peace Corps. Our wedding was his first trip home since leaving. It was so great getting to spend a whole month with him home and hearing about all the things he has done while overseas. During the cake cutting we introduced “Gursha” – an Ethiopian practice of feeding a bite of food by hand to another person. It is a sign of friendship and hospitality so after we each had a bite of cake we gursha’d our guests (if the were interested that is). It was lots of fun and something very different.

Whimsical Glam Londonderry, Vermont Wedding in the Woods

July 24, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-49

A boho glam wedding dress, tons of eco-friendly DIY projects, and a reception pie table are just a few of the many whimsical details at Ashley and George’s Vermont wedding! Once the couple committed to their wedding’s woodsy boho theme, they were off to the races to complete as many DIY projects as possible! Ashley and George designed bird house centerpieces, a birch branch seating chart, steel cut oatmeal favors, and the wedding’s full floral design in the full year leading up to their special day. We love how Martina Micko Photography captured every gorgeous moment, including the couple’s special visitor during their first dance!

The Couple:

Ashley and George

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Londonderry, Vermont

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-32

Our happy place has always been Londonderry, Vermont. George and I are New Jersey natives but Vermont is where we fell in love with nature and deeply with one another. It is also where George proposed to me on Lover’s Lane with his great grandmother’s ring. It seemed only right that we share this magical place with our closest family and friends.

George and I chose to do first looks at Lowell Lake State Park to shake off any pre-wedding jitters. I was afraid of (happy) crying the entire ceremony! It was so renewing being outside by the lake and walking barefoot in the woods with our bridal party…what an amazing beginning to the best day of our lives.

I came across an image of a model wearing an ivory Chanel dress with billowing sleeves and a soft floral print. There were marigolds in her long, wavy hair and I thought to myself, “This bohemian look is what I want to convey on my wedding day.” When I found my Free People dress, I knew it would fully articulate my inspiration. However, I took a more glamorous approach. Bright lips, bold bouquet. Boho glam. I wanted those pops of color to whimsy up the mood!

There was an incredible project gifted to us by our officiant. She had some of George’s younger cousins paint reclaimed pallet wood signs of all the cities/miles our guests were traveling from. This was assembled in our high pole tent and was an incredibly fun focal point.

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-27

George’s most memorable part was when I was walking down the aisle towards him, he said it was a beautiful moment he can’t quite put into words.

We incorporated many personal elements into our outdoor ceremony. For starters, George and I were wed by his aunt who brought to life the script we wrote. Together, we exchanged hand written vows and included our parents in a Unity Planting Ceremony. Before our wedding, we gathered dirt from our hometowns that we brought to Vermont. With our parents holding the dirt and water, we added them to our plant to symbolize the joining of our lives together and growth of our love.

Working with our photographer was a dream! Martina connected with us immediately. She is a chic, creative, professional that has an aura of positivity around her. From the beginning, we were completely at ease as she captured every fleeting moment of our joyful day.

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-45

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-47

Ultimately, we wanted the beauty of our love and the natural surroundings to shine as we shared our unique point of view. For us this meant writing the ceremony script, the vows, the toast, being our own wedding designers and making the centerpieces, signage, etc. The year leading up to our wedding was a DIY extravaganza and we enjoyed every moment of it! Our seating chart was made from found birch branches, jute twine, tags and assorted décor like robin’s eggs and paper flowers from Recollections.

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-29

We constructed centerpieces with painted birdhouses, moss and foliage. From Joann’s Craft Store, we gathered paint, pre-constructed bird houses and assorted greenery from Bloom Room and The Moss Collection. Everything was painted and fashioned together with glue and jute twine.

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-30

Our advice: A DIY wedding is an enormous amount of work! That being said, we really honored the planning process and loved being able to design each detail. We recommend writing a month by month agenda that outlines each project leading up to your wedding with your time frames. Lastly, you may want to hire a coordinator to do things you may not initially think of like receive deliveries, guide your catering staff, direct wedding guests to your first dance, etc.

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-25

whimsical-glam-londonderry-vermont-wedding-in-the-woods-26

My most memorable part of the day happened during our first dance as husband and wife. As soon as we joined together and our song began, a butterfly flew overhead, swooped down and landed on my arm. The entire audience burst into tears! George and I just looked on in amazement as it stayed through the entire song.

We tried to keep it “green” by incorporating compostable flatware, dinnerware and beverage cups, using upcycled wood for all of our projects and gifting reusable wedding favors. For our favors, we joked that we “treated our guests to breakfast.” Everyone was traveling from out of state so they left our wedding with a superfood packed mason jar of steel cut oats, golden berries and coconut. We wanted to make their trips home a tiny bit easier.

Modern Cozy North Carolina Wedding at Yesterday Spaces

May 29, 2016 | editorial team

Modern-Cozy-North-Carolina-Wedding-Yesterday-Spaces-38

Amelia and Steve tied the knot at Yesterday Spaces, a 70-acre working family farm just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. The couple wanted their wedding to be something true to the nature of their relationship, so they designed a weekend experience that they knew their guests would enjoy. Photographers Brett & Jessica captured all the magic from Amelia and Steve’s big day, and Lucky Penny Creative helped to plan an evening that was equal parts modern, sophisticated, cozy, and straight up fun!

The Couple:

Yesterday Spaces, Asheville, North Carolina

I told everyone that asked about my wedding fashion that I wanted to look like ‘Cate Blanchett going camping’. That was as close as we got to ‘style inspiration’. I chose a white Vionnet dress instead of a traditional wedding gown. Because it’s not a traditional wedding dress, I feel like I can wear it again.

We wanted something true to the nature of our relationship. Our backgrounds are in design and engineering (Amelia is an Experience Designer and Steve is a Software Engineer), so it was really important to us to design an experience that would be pleasant and enjoyable to our guests, while making sure every decision was an accurate reflection of who we are as a couple.

During the ceremony, we created a ‘plant ceremony’ where we planted two different plants into one pot. Similar to a ‘unity candle’ type ritual, but it was completely ours. We wrote our vows together and read them to each other. It was ours, and that made all the difference.

We wanted a beautiful outdoor space with the practicality of a backup plan and appropriate accommodations for our elderly family members. Yesterday Spaces provided these things and also guest housing for our wedding party.

Tennessee Summer Wedding at The Wren’s Nest

April 12, 2016 | editorial team

Tennessee-Summer-Wedding-Wrens-Nest-11

The Wren’s Nest turned out to be the perfect rustic venue for Laura and Mark’s dream wedding. Modern Vintage Events helped them plan the elegantly chic and simple celebration, and the result was the homey, relaxed day that they always wanted. They incorporated some DIY when possible, including a guest-requested playlist, handcrafted card stock wedding programs, and two little wooden “love birds” topping the cake! The details fell together perfectly, and Laura and Mark with their family and friends danced the night away under a sky full of Tennessee stars.

Hire wedding planners! The good ones keep you on track with planning, scheduling, and organizing the months leading up to the big day so that the process is much more stress free and enjoyable. Also, some of the best advice I received before starting to plan my wedding is that everything is negotiable! Don’t be afraid to ask the vendor what their best price is: from food cost, to cake options, to light rentals, and the dress.

First and foremost, we wanted out wedding guests to feel like they were at a big celebration in our living room. We wanted them to feel relaxed, and at home under the Tennessee summer night sky; like a big family.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The most memorable part of the day was during the ceremony, under a canopy of trees and twinkle lights, the rain clouds parted during our vows and the sun beamed just on our faces. It was a moment we will never forget, because it solidified eternity.

We created “cootie catchers” (remember those from 3rd grade?), and had fun facts about the Newlyweds printed on the inside for conversation starters at dinner. On the outside we printed the guests’ names and placed them at their assigned table.

My Maid of Honor is extremely talented, so I utilized her talents to DIY our wedding cake toppers – two paper cut outs of birds that said “Love Birds.” I also had her design the wedding programs that we printed on card stock and attached to crafting sticks so the guests could use them as fans since the ceremony was outside in humid June!

We wanted to give back to charities that are meaningful to us as a couple in lieu of wedding favors. We had two charity options for guests to drop tickets into jars for their preference for a donation to be made in their honor.

Bohemian Meets Industrial NYC Wedding at Greenpoint Loft

February 25, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Bohemian-Meets-Industrial-NYC-Wedding-Greenpoint-Loft-Lindsey-M-Events-13

Jackie and Daniel made it a priority to honor the places that are most important to them in their wedding. Daniel hails from Sweden, and the couple decided on a color palette inspired by the natural hues of the island landscape where he’s from. The festivities took place at Greenpoint Loft where Jackie and Daniel handpicked local vendors to create a lively atmosphere to complete their bohemian meets industrial vibe.

My wedding look was bohemian. I loved that my dress was all lace and showed my figure. I kept my make up classic and wore the same lipstick I wear on the weekends. The most unique party of my look was my custom shoes. I designed them with a Steve Madden designer and saw my creation come to life.

We chose our venue because it was local and also very DIY. We wanted a venue where we could have the freedom to create our own vibe. We wanted our wedding to be a party — a celebration of us. We did not want to focus on traditions and rituals but more on bringing our closest loved ones together and showing them a good time. It was important to us that we kept our wedding local and our vendors local too. We had a local cafe cater the food, a local bakery make the cake, temporary tattoos with our wedding logo, local subway performers playing during cocktail hour, homemade mixed drinks, Swedish candy as our favors, our good friend as our DJ!

Our wedding colors were blue, tan, white and poppy red. We chose them based on a small island in Sweden that my Husband is from. The blue reflects the brackish water, the tan for the rocks the houses are built on, white for the houses, and poppy red for the brick roofs each house has.

We’re Not Horsing Around, This Iowa Barn Wedding is a Rustic Bohemian Dream

February 8, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Bohemian-Iowa-Wedding-at-The-Rustic-Rose-Barn-Amanda-Basteen-14

Paige was the bohemian bride of Blake’s dreams on their wedding day at The Rustic Rose Barn in Iowa, wearing an elegant Stella York gown and sweet floral crown. After saying “I do,” the newlyweds enjoyed their first moments as husband and wife accompanied by a herd of horses, who we’re sure wished them a happily ever after! Photographer Amanda Basteen documented every detail around the farm wedding, including a delicious dessert bar, natural wood elements, and a lantern send-off into the dark night sky.

The Wedding:

Our wedding day fashion was more casual, but still elegant and pretty. I let my hair down, loose and curly with a flower crown instead of a veil. My dress was a blush color with ivory lace details and a beautiful train. I loved how different it was, but simple. It didn’t need a thousand sparkles or sash or anything, I just loved it right away. Since I was wearing a flower crown already, I just did little diamond earrings and a necklace that Blake gave me that day as a gift.

We definitely chose our photographer first before planning anything really, because that was what was most important to us. We wanted someone different and unique. So many wedding photographers have similar styles and they look great, but we liked the more artistic style that Amanda Basteen uses. She really tells a story of the day, and captured the little intimate moments that were special. I think picking the right photographer is most important in planning your wedding because those are the things you can look back on years from now and remember.

We chose to go with a mixture of boho and romantic style. I wanted the loose, natural, earthy feel of the Bohemian style juxtaposed with our romantic barn venue. We had cascading flowers, lighted trees, tree slab centerpieces, and lots of little things like that. Which made an amazing vibe when paired with romantic twinkle lights everywhere, candles, and of course a beautiful chandelier over the dance floor!

There were so many, the day really does go by so fast! Our most memorable moment though was our first dance. Our cocktail hour was outside the barn; Being that it was October, nearly everyone was inside keeping warm though. So Blake and I just went with it! We had our first dance alone outside as the sun was setting. It was beautiful, magical, and by far the best, unexpected memory. Our singer, Zach Freedom, sang us our first song. He had written it for us, about how we met and fell in love, which made it even more special.

Get Inspired by This Bohemian Vail, Colorado Wedding at Piney River Ranch

Bohemian-Vail-Colorado-Wedding-at-Piney-River-Ranch-Daylene-Wilson-Photography-5

We love the trend of couples treating their wedding celebration like an adventure, traveling to some of the most beautiful sights in the world to say “I do.” For this bohemian-styled inspiration shoot, Purple Summer Events combined the picturesque views of Piney Ridge Ranch in Vail, Colorado with free-spirited elements like teepees, wild and organic floral design, and a few compasses to help guide the way. Daylene Wilson Photographic was fortunate enough to capture lightly falling rain and even a rainbow that graced the shoot with its presence, making for an even more naturally stunning scene!
