Effortlessly Elegant Yucatan Wedding at Hacienda Sac Chich

October 6, 2020 | riley

We’re holding on to every last bit of summer here at Junebug–which isn’t too hard with beautiful destination weddings like this one. Sarah and Florzell’s elegant Yucatan wedding at Hacienda Sac Chich had everything we love in destination weddings. The couple, with the help of planner  Joe Bolaños Alonzo, created a day that was complete with minimalistic touches that didn’t take away from the historic venue’s natural beauty.

RAW Studio did an incredible job with the florals–focusing on keeping the colors muted, which perfectly contrasted with the lush jungle. And we can’t get enough of the romantic lights hanging amidst the palm trees during their low-key reception. We can’t wait for you to see how Junebug member MemoryBox Photography brilliantly captured every detail of the day. Keep scrolling to see some gorgeous mismatched bridesmaids, a fun first look with the groom and his mother, and a golden hour ceremony.

The Wedding:

Hacienda Sac Chic, Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico

Why Hacienda Sac Chich

We’ve always been drawn to the juxtaposition of historic and modern architecture, and we wanted a venue where both of our families could stay for the entire wedding weekend. When I stumbled upon Hacienda Sac Chich through The Venue Report, I knew it was the one. We put a security deposit down after one meeting with the venue’s property manager.

Including Family In The Wedding

One of the things we were most pleased with was how personal our ceremony felt. We are both extremely close with our families, who played important roles in the ceremony. Our parents walked us down the aisle, my uncle officiated our ceremony–which we kicked off with a thank you to our parents, our moms led our unity candle ceremony, and my cousin read our scripture passage. We also felt super comfortable throughout the entire ceremony. Looking back at the photos, we were smiling and laughing the whole time even through the tear-filled moments.

Advice For Destination Weddings

If you’re planning a destination wedding, I highly recommend hiring a local wedding planner that has worked with your venue before. We relied heavily on our planner–Joe Bolaños–to connect us with local vendors and negotiate fair prices. If your wedding is in another country, inquire about the vendor payment process ahead of time. We had a learning curve trying to navigate vendor’s preferences (Paypal, Remitly, Xoom, wire transfer, etc.), and we ultimately ended up paying a lot more in fees than we wanted to.

A Traditional Yucatecan Menu

We are big foodies and wanted our guests to experience local Yucatecan cuisine. We served sopa de lima, short rib sopes, shrimp enfrijoladas, and duck confit tacos. Even the cocktails incorporated local flavors like tamarind and guava. In place of a traditional wedding cake, we had a churro cart, making them fresh to order.

Miami Glam Parking Garage Wedding at 1111 Lincoln Rd

October 5, 2020 | riley

Calling all non-traditional wedding lovers! You’re not going to want to miss this one. Claudia and Jordan’s glam parking garage wedding 1111 Lincoln Rd was the perfect showcase of relaxed elegance. With the help of Junebug member The Creative’s Loft, the pair turned a parking garage into one of the most glamorous spaces we’ve ever seen.

With red, pink, and white florals mixed with tropical greenery–put together by Primrose Florals–and a bar overlooking all of downtown, this just goes to show you that you can turn a blank canvas into something incredible with the right vendor team

Keep scrolling to see their tropulent affair–and don’t skip out on the video put together by Made in Video, which perfectly captures the lighthearted, fun vibes of the day!

Claudia and Jordan

The Wedding:

1111 Lincoln Road, Miami, Florida

Laid-Back Wedding Day Vibes

We wanted to do something different. Neither one of us were huge fans of traditional weddings and—to be honest—we were considering not having one. When we decided we would it had to be unique and everything had to be done our own way. We wanted a party where people could do what they wanted when they wanted. If they wanted to dance, there’d be a dance floor. If they wanted to drink, there’d be multiple bars. When they wanted to eat, there’d be different food options the entire time. Chill and lounge? Couches, tables, and chairs available everywhere–but no ten-person round tables with assigned seats. We basically wanted a party that celebrated us getting married.

Personalizing The Ceremony

We had a very small private ceremony a few weeks before our wedding that included the traditional Jewish and legal requirements. Then we had Claudia’s brother officiate the ceremony, which added a very personal touch. He told the story about how we met and spoke about our relationship together. This personalized the ceremony and seemed to connect us with our guests more. We also wrote and read our vows to each other. This was one of the highlights of the night.

Why 1111 Lincoln Rd

We live in Miami Beach and a few blocks from our home is an amazing parking garage that doubles as an event space. We pretty much zeroed in on this as our venue because it was a beautiful structure, was close to home (you can actually see where we live from the garage), and was a completely open canvas to create whatever we wanted. The contrast between a concrete garage and a black-tie event was perfect for us.

Warm & Cozy Dallas Wedding at Brake & Clutch

October 4, 2020 | riley

Aubrie and David wanted their wedding to feel like home, so a warm and cozy Dallas wedding at Break & Clutch was the perfect choice! Their untraditional black, copper, and champagne color palette and unique geometric pampas grass backdrop matched the warehouse’s modern aesthetic beautifully. Planner Hunter Orcutt did a fantastic job of bringing the couple’s vision board to life.

While everything about this wedding is beautiful, our favorite part is the photos captured by one of our own Junebugs, Brooke Taelor. That’s right! Not only is she an incredible part of our team, but she’s also the insanely talented photographer who captured Aubrie and David’s love perfectly.

The Couple:

Aubrie and David

The Wedding:

Brake & Clutch, Dallas, Texas

Why Brake & Clutch

We love the area of Deep Ellum in Dallas—it has so many bars/restaurants and the Brake & Clutch venue is so cool with the warehouse look. We like that the whole wedding had a “theme”–bridal brunch, hotel block, rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and wedding were all in Deep Ellum.

A Memorable Ceremony

The ceremony room had just such a homey/cozy vibe with warm lights, the rugs Hunter had brought in, and the fact that we were over capacity, so people were packed in. We’ll never forget the moment right after we kissed and our officiant announced us, and we turned to all of our people. We saw our parents, family, friends, coworkers–literally everyone that means so much to us. It was just such a perfect moment. David and I both agree it was surreal.

Lots Of Food Options

I love queso, so we had tacos/enchiladas and queso. The caterers had my own “bride bowl” waiting for me in my seat. We also had Philly cheesesteak sliders and Chinese food in takeout containers. They were a huge hit! Lastly–this was truly special –my grandparents started a steakhouse restaurant that has been very special to my family. My grandparents have passed but they were such an important part of my life, so we wanted to honor them at the wedding. The famous dessert at the steak house is a Tumbleweed–basically an adult milkshake–so we served little Tumbleweeds at the end of the night.
